Chapter 9 Searching For Answers

Sam couldn't help but feel something terrible had happened.

"What do you mean Chloe?" he asked her calmly.

"I mean, he didn't come home, I left the campus earlier than usual today since I finished all my classes to drop by his place and his mom told me he didn't come home last night. She normally isn't worried since he's stayed out all night and came home the next morning or early in the afternoon the next day but today he hadn't return and she's getting a bit worried" Chloe explained.

"Okay, Chloe have you tried calling him at all?" Sam asked her.

"Yes Sam, I've called him before I left the campus but he didn't answer. I even called him again on the bus and again after talking to his mom but no answer. This isn't like him he would at least return my calls or texts by now and I'm really getting worried especially after what you told me about Ahnika" she said.

"Okay, okay where are you now?" Sam asked her.

"I'm at the bus stop waiting for the bus home" said Chloe.

"Well, give me your location and we'll pick you up right now we can talk more about this" Sam told her.

Chloe gave him location and after getting off the phone, Sam and Dean hopped right back into the car and headed to the bus stop and picked Chloe up who was waiting for them. Then they both drove to her parents' home as Sam grilled her some more on what happened.

"Sam, this really is starting to freak me out, first Ahnika and now Drake. His mother wanted to call the police, but she has to wait at least 24 hours" she said.

Sam wanted to calm her fears but right now he just wanted to get some info.

"Have you called any of your fellow occult members and asked them if they've seen him?" he asked.

Chloe nodded her head.

"Yes, I did, I called on all of them and none of them have seen him not since our last meeting" she told him.

"Does this Drake go to school or work anywhere?" Sam asked her again.

"No, doesn't do neither, he makes his money running his personal blog and instagram" Chloe said as Dean rolled eyes thinking what a new age slacker this guy is.

"Well, what about any places he regularly hangs out?" Sam asked her.

"He likes to hang out at a nearby rave called, Dark Palace, plus sometimes we hang out at the arcade, he loves video games or we hang out at the shopping center" she told him.

"Perfect, just list more all the places he hangs out at, me and Dean can just ask around there for you" Sam said.

"That's nice but you don't have to, I mean you're not cops, it's not your job" she told them.

"We don't mind going through the trouble since he's a friend of yours and you seemed so scared when you called and the cops will have to wait until he's been missing for at least 24 hours to do something, we just want help out anyway we can" Sam told her.

"That is so nice of you even though you don't have to go through the trouble" Chloe told him.

"That's okay, and we don't mind, really" Sam told him.

"You can also consider going to the police and telling them that both Drake and that girl are connected to the same occult group" Dean suggested.

"I'm sure, his mom will tell the police that once she reports him missing" Chloe said.

"Hey, by the way Chloe, I know this may be prying a bit, but do you mind telling us who are those occult members?" Sam asked her.

"Why would you want to know that?" she asked him.

"Well, if we ask around anybody that knows Drake it would be good to start with them or anybody who knows them, since they are linked to both Drake and that dead chick" Sam told her.

"I don't think they will tell you anything, I mean they don't know you guys and they are not going to tell you anything different" Chloe told them.

"Well, we could still check around anybody with who knows Drake and your fellow occult members it could be helpful and even if it isn't it's worth a shot" Sam told her.

"Okay, I guess it's no harm giving you their names. Well the leader is Xeno, although I don't think that's his real name" Chloe said.

"Perfect do you know his last name and where he normally hangs out or who is friends are?" Sam asked sounding like a cop.

"I think it's Clarke and he hangs out at the Dark Palace too, they all do in fact, don't know what he does for a living though" Chloe said.

"Well, that's a start and would about the others?" Sam asked.

"Nova is his second and command and his girlfriend, but I don't remember her last name. Then there's Ozzy, Asher and Rebel" Chloe said.

"Thanks that helps Chloe and we will do whatever we can to help like we said before" Sam told her.

"Thanks guys, thanks for everything" she said.

"Anytime" Sam replied.

When they drove back to her home, Sam and Dean dropped Chloe off and Sam told her to let her folks know they decided to join them for dinner afterall and they will be back before 6:00. Then they drove off as Dean started questioning Sam on their next step.

"So now what?" he asked Sam.

"We head to this Dark Palace, ask around about Drake, that girl Ahnika, Xeno and the other occult members" Sam told him.

"Yeah, only thing else weird about those demon-worshipping freaks are their weirdo names, Xeno, Ozzy, sound like members of punk rock band" Dean said.

"Let us just go and ask around" Sam told him.

They drove to the rave and using their fake police badges that they had car they headed inside the Dark Palace. The place was open and inside it was just your typical rave club with a lot of weird looking goth or grunge-dressed young folks. Some had dyed hair that was blue, green, purple or striped etc. They both felt out of place at such a club but they just walked in their business as usual acting all professional like two cops on a mission. They soon headed to the bar and spoke to the bartender, a thirty-something looking guy with a mohawk hairdo dyed blue and green, piercings on his face and ears and reminded them of those weird punk rockers from the 1980s. He looked at them out of curiosity since they weren't the typical crowd of that scene. Right away both Dean and Sam pulled out their fake police badges, introducing themselves as Detectives Smith and Jones.

"Look we're looking into the homicide of Ahnika Blevins, the girl that was dead body was found in a ditch. We know she hung out with a group of people who regularly hang out here, one of them is called Drake?" Dean ask sounding all serious.

"Hey, I'm not familiar with names, I've seen a lot of faces that I can't keep up with" the bartender replied.

"Well, I'm sure you heard about Ahnika in the news?" Sam asked.

"Yeah, I sure did, tough break, she was so young, I mean what happened to her was sad and all" said the bartender.

"Word has it she regularly hung out here, do you know who she normally hung out with and all?" Dean asked him.

The bartender appeared to be thinking as he paused for a moment.

"Like I said before, I can't keep up with all the faces that hang out here, but I think I know someone who does. The bartender then turned around, hey Ricki!" he cried out.

Then soon, a dark-haired young woman dressed in black showed up. She had on dark eyeliner and lipstick and was wearing an earring on her lip.

"Ricki, these are cops investigating what happened to that chick whose body they found, they want to know who she regularly who out with" he told her.

Ricki then turned to the guys prepared to answer their questions.

"You want know about Ahnika?" she asked them.

"You know personally?" Sam asked.

"I remember Ahnika from high school, although she was a couple years younger than me, we both hung out in the same crowd. It was good seeing her again when she started hanging out here, we had lost touch and she didn't know I got a job here as a waitress" she said.

"Can you tell us who she normally hung out with, we heard one of them is a kid named Drake" Sam replied.

"A guy named Drake and these other group of folks she normally talk to when they were at they came here. Ahnika told me that they were in some kind of an occult. I thought it was cool and all" she replied.

"Well, was he here the night that Ahnika went missing?" Dean asked.

Ricki nodded her head. "As a matter of fact, I do recall seeing him in here along with his friend, I think her name was Chloe, Ahnika wasn't here that night though" she said.

"What about the other group members, we've learned their names Xeno was the leader?" Dean asked.

"Yeah, I recall Ahnika calling one of the members Xeno, he was tallest dude with that dyed black hair, wearing those pale makeup like a goth kid. I sometimes heard them chatting and he was always talking weird stuff like the demon rising, super powers and all, I thought it was all part of their occult game and I even talked about it with Ahnika a couple of times but she always swore it was nothing to worry about it was all fun and games" Ricki told them.

"Were they at this place too with Drake and Chloe that night?" Dean asked her.

"Um, no I only saw Drake and Chloe but then again, this place is packed with a lot of people, for all I know they did show up later, I was all over the place so I couldn't keep up with anybody who comes in here, maybe the other staff served them" Ricki answered.

"What about last night, were any of them here?" Dean asked her.

Ricki just paused a bit. "I don't recall seeing them here, but they might have been, like I said before, it's so many folks here that it's hard to keep up with faces" Ricki said.

Both Sam and Dean paused for a moment then Sam spoke up again.

"Do you know any other places that Ahnika, Drake their friends regularly hung out to or if anybody can tells us?" Sam asked her.

Ricki paused a bit thinking it over. "Umm, I think Ahnika said they sometimes go to the local bar around here, and sometimes the shopping center, but I don't know anyplace else. You may want to ask this guy I've heard them call Sy, I've seen him in here occasionally and often talking to Xeno and his crew" she said.

"And where do we find this Sy?" Dean asked.

"Well, in fact there he is over there, the guy in with the blue hair" Ricki said as she pointed out in the crowd and they saw a young guy with longish dyed blue hair dressed in goth fashion and white makeup all over his face.

"Hey, you don't think that gang had anything to do to what happened to Ahnika?" she asked them out of curiosity.

"We can't discuss that ma'am but thank you for your time" Dean responded.

Then they both headed over to where Sy was who was now dancing with a green-haired girl in the crowd seeming to be having a good time. Dean tapped him gently on the back and he turned to where they are.

"Hello!" Dean yelled out since the loud music made it hard for them to hear their voices.

They both pulled out their fake police badges again and identified themselves as detectives investigating Ahnika's death. When he saw their badges he just stopped with a nervous look on his face and as they lured him away from his dancing partner and walked over to corner to talk.

"Hey man, I don't know anything about that chick" Sy said still nervously.

"Relax there dude, we aren't accusing you of anything we just want to ask a few questions" Sam told him.

"About what?" asked Sy confused.

"We heard you know this Xeno dude, who is a leader of some kind of occult" Dean said.

"Yeah, sure he's a friend of mine, but I'm not part of his occult, that all demon-worshipping thing is a little too weird even for me" Sy said.

"I suppose you also know this Drake guy and the girl Ahnika whose body they found recently?" Sam asked him.

"Yeah, I know Drake is part of that occult of his and Ahnika too, so sad about what happened to her" Sy told them.

"Well, do you remember if you saw Xeno or Drake when Ahnika went missing?" Dean asked this time.

"Yeah, I remember Xeno, Nova, his girl and the other gang but not Drake and his girl, I think her name is Chloe and Ahnika that is, were at my place just hanging out chilling, smoking weed, drinking and we watched a late night horror flick" said Sy.

"How long they there?" asked Sam.

"We were up pretty late and I think it was about sometime after 1am when they left maybe close to 2am, at least, I had already told the cops that before when they asked" said Sy.

"Well, you just tell us again, now what about last night, do you recall where Drake and any of the gang were then?" Dean chimed in.

"Uh, don't know where Drake was but last night we were all chilling at Xeno and his girl's place just hanging out. We were there until almost 2:30am as I recall, then we all went home" Sy said.

After questioning Sy some more, they realized that he couldn't provide them enough of what they need accept that Drake's last name is Morris. After they were through questioning him, they just left the Dark Palace a bit perplexed that they didn't have any important information.

"Doesn't look like we got anywhere" replied Dean a bit exasperated.

"Hey, no need to worry, we can ask get what we've looking for, we now know where this Xeno lives, maybe we can wait outside his place and if he goes out tonight, we can follow him wherever he goes. In the meantime we can just go asking around since Sy gave us other names" Sam suggested.

They soon headed into the car and drove off to the place of a guy named Lars, another buddy of Xeno, they went to the video arcade where he works, and asked him a few questions about Xeno, Drake and Ahnika but he couldn't give them anything useful. In fact, after asking around few friends and others who know Xeno or Drake, they couldn't come up with anything leaving them frustrated. Then it was time for them to head to the Travers' place for dinner and they were already running late. By the time they got there it was about a couple minutes after six but Mrs. Travers greeted them at the door told them that they were still waiting for them. They both apologized for being late explaining that they lost track of time and she was quite understanding. Mr. Travers and Chloe were waiting at the dinner table and greeted them as Mrs. Travers had led them into the dining room. They quickly took their seat and saw they had a nice dinner of lasagna, broccoli with cheese and iced tea.

They happily ate their dinner and talked with Chloe's parents and Chloe herself. After dinner was over, they all talked a little bit longer in the living room before Dean and Sam decided to head out, so they said their goodbyes and Chloe asked to follow the two them outside to discuss something and her parents didn't see the harm although they were quite curious. So, after saying their goodbyes in the hall Chloe walked the two of them outside the front door.

"Hey, so did you find anything about Drake?" she asked them.

Sam just shook his head. "I'm sorry we ask around as much as we could, and we really didn't get anything useful" he told her.

"Yeah, we came up with nada, but hey we did our best" Dean added.

This didn't make Chloe feel better, but she accepted their answer.

"I guess it was pointless expecting you guys to find anything the police couldn't but thanks for trying guys, I mean you didn't have to go through all the trouble" she told them.

"Hey, it was our pleasure, Chloe" Sam told her.

"Hey, look we'll just head back now but take care, okay and remember just avoid those demon-worshipping weirdos for now, just until it all blows over" Dean told her.

"Yeah, it's best you just lay low" Sam added.

"That I can do and thanks again guys" Chloe told them.

"Anytime" Sam replied.

They said their goodbyes one last time and they left as Chloe went back inside the house. As they entered their car, they began to think of their next plan.

"So, what's next?" asked Sam.

"Well, we can go over to where this Xeno and his girl live and just stake out the place" Dean told him.

"You mean just wait out their all night?" asked Sam.

"That's the best we can do, I mean Chloe told us they are not having their meeting tonight but maybe he'll head out somewhere else and meet his fellow freaks and we can trail them wherever they go" he said.

"And if we don't find anything?" asked Sam.

"Then we start over tomorrow, we can show up at Drake's place posing as cops again and ask the mom to look around his room for some clues" Dean suggested.

"Wish we did that today" said Sam.

"You know why we didn't, it would be too soon since the mom couldn't even report him missing just yet" Dean said. "Yeah, I know" Sam replied.

The two then drove off in the car and following the information of Xeno and Nova's address showed up outside their apartment parked in the parking lot as they just sat there and waited if the two cult members will come out and then plan to tail them wherever they go. However, hours passed as they just waited and waited in the parking lot sitting there getting bored to the point that Dean listened songs on his smartphone and Sam was looking at the internet trying to find more information about the missing girl Ahnika but he didn't find anything new. More hours passed and to their surprise it was about midnight. Sam had fallen asleep as Dean stayed awake watching the apartment, they both took turns one sleeping while the other stays awake and watches over. Dean turned and nudged Sam awake.

"Look, Sam we've been here for hours, and it doesn't look like they're coming out, It's after midnight now and nothing man, I think this is a waste" he told Sam.

"Midnight, we've been here that long?" Sam asked.

"Yeah, and I'm ready to call it quits for tonight" Dean said.

Sam just sighed. "Yeah, I guess you're right but I think we could still head out to their hangout just in case as a last resort" he suggested.

"Okay but if there is nothing we go back to the motel and get some shut eye, but let's head to the gas station first, I have to take a leak" Dean said.

Sam nodded as he did too. They then drove off and went to the nearest gas station and used the men's restroom which was kind of dirty but they both needed to go. Then they drove back to the hangout in the junkyard, but the place was empty and even though they waited there for awhile to see if any of the occult members show up but after over an half an hour and nobody came they just gave up and drove back to the motel. The two of them flopped down on their beds as soon as they entered the room feeling a bit worn out.

"So, I guess the next plan is heading to Drake's place tomorrow posing as cops so we can ask her a few questions and search around his room for any clues" Dean said.

"Sounds like the plan, but I just hope we find something, I can't leave without saving Chloe to become the next victim of those demon-worshipping freaks" Sam replied.

"We won't, I promise you that" Dean said.

They hadn't rested more than ten minutes when Sam got a call on his phone and answered it.

"Hello Sam, it's me Chloe, I need your help Sam!" she cried out sounding very anxious.

Sam quickly sat up no longer feeling tired. "Chloe what's wrong?" he cried out worried as Chloe sounding like she was in real trouble.

"They got me, Sam, my friends from the occult they got me and they are going to kill me please help!" she cried out frantically.
