This sequel takes place sometime after my first fanfic. There will be more returning characters from the show and my first fanfic along with more new ones in this story.
Chapter 23 A Wander in the Woods
Sam and Ava walk up trail near the lake, fearful to go back into the woods since some of those leviathans are still roaming there searching for them. They continued to wrap their arms around their bodies as they were cold and wet from hiding in that lake and long for a place to dry off. They walked on for a while talking about their plans to find Benny, Dean's vampire friend. Dean had already told Ava about him in the past and the idea of him having a vampire buddy who lives in purgatory still kind of shocked her.
"You know, it's going to be hard to find you all's old vampire pal, since you don't know where to look in this huge place and we got those leviathan creatures still after us and no telling what they're doing to Castiel who we left behind" she reminded Sam.
Sam just turned to her. "I know already, I hated leaving Castiel there, but we were getting too outnumbered, and it wouldn't be long before they overpower us as well. Castiel wanted us to get out of there, there would be no point of us getting captured too, or we all be helpless" Sam told her.
"You mean you will be those freaks wanted my head on a platter" Ava replied.
"Well, all the more reason to get you outta there. They won't hurt Castiel for now, as they plan on bringing him to Eve, who wants to torture not kill him" Sam replied.
"Well torturing could be worse than killing, I mean by the time this Eve gets through to him, he may wish she did finish him off, and from what Dean told me this Eve is one dangerous chick" Ava said.
Sam nodded. "She is, which is why we must find Benny and enlist his help" he said.
"But still wonder how you figure he will be able to help us take on a group of leviathans, he's just one creature" Ava said.
"Yeah, but maybe he can help us find this Zadkiel, remembering what Castiel told us, this Zadkiel has plenty of allies, which was part of the reason he was able to survive in this place this long along with being a very skilled fighter himself. I mean Cas told us how he single-handedly taken out some leviathans to save his life, the last time he was trapped here, so maybe we can convince this Zadkiel to help us for Cas's sake by enlisting an army of his buddies in this place" Sam explained.
"Well, I only hope your plan works, now we only need to find a place so we can dry off, I'm freezing in these wet clothes" she told Sam her arms still wrapped around her torso.
"Me too" Sam told her.
They continued to walk some more near the lake and finally, they went into the woods, hoping the leviathans are not around as they were in another part of the woods, and they just wandered around hoping to find a dry place to dry off for a while. They managed to find one of the biggest trees and each of them stood one side of tree that was wide enough to give them privacy and they removed their wet clothes, placed them in their hands and just sat down on the grass to wait for them to dry. Ava just sighed thinking about it all.
"You know, this same thing happened with me and Dean when we hid in the lake to escape those creatures in the Underworld, we hid in a cave took off all our clothes and just waited for them to dry, passing the time talking about ourselves and the lives we led" she told him.
"Is that what you want to do while we wait here, just talk about ourselves?" Sam asked her.
"Well, there isn't anything else to do and it beats just moping around worrying about those leviathans" Ava said.
"I'm sorry Ava, I can't help but not think about Cas, and what those leviathans are doing to him now. I mean by now they probably brought him to Eve and I know there not going to kill him, that will be too easy, but I know Eve will torture him just to make him suffer and would have done the same to me if they got me too, which just makes me feel even more guilty deserting him to deal with all that on his own" Sam said with a sad look on his face.
"Hey, it wasn't your fault, he wanted us to go and he was right, you said so yourself there would be no point in us both being tortured too, besides, they would have just snacked on me and then nobody would be able to rescue you both" Ava said trying to cheer him up.
"Yeah, I do get that, I just hope we find Benny that's all, he could help us, hopefully we all find Zadkiel and he could get his posse to help us rescue Cas and then convince him to come back with us" Sam said.
"You know, Sam as much as we want to help Dean, we might have the face the possibility that Zadkiel won't come back with us and leave this place, from what Castiel told us he's been here for a very long time and is quite content, and I know I said I would drag him back with us at gunpoint if I had to, but a part of me can't help but feel if that's fair to force this angel against his will to become something he might not want to become anymore than Dean does" Ava told him.
"Ava, I get what you're saying and I have thought the same thing too sometimes but this is Dean we're talking about, if we have to make a choice, I'm sorry but Dean is our number one priority and I know that would suck but I would choose Dean in a heartbeat over this angel's free will.
"Yeah, but Sam remember Castiel said he would be willing to make the sacrifice if we can't convince this Zadkiel to come back with us to take Dean's place and I know you don't want to hear this but maybe we should respect his wishes, either way Dean will be saved" Ava said.
Ava's words caused a bit of distress in Sam as he was feeling a bit of anger and fear, there was now way in hell he could go along of what Ava was suggesting.
"No, I can't, I'm sorry Ava, but I'm not letting Cas sacrifice himself and it doesn't matter to me if he is willing to offer himself to be the sacrificial lamb, I won't let him and neither would Dean, that leaves Zadkiel we just got to get him to go along even by force if we have to that's all there is to it" he said very firmly.
Ava just sighed again realizing there would be no use in reasoning with Sam in this discussion as he can be just as stubborn and passionate about family as Dean was. "Okay, Sam if that's what you insist and I get it, I really do" said. "So you we stick to the back-up plan?" Sam asked her. "Yes Sam, we will if we don't have a choice" she replied. "Good" Sam replied. "I admit I kind of like your angel buddy too, must be really cool to have an angel as your best friend" Ava said.
"Cas, is one true friends we've ever had, more like family, there was another that was like that to us, Bobby, but he's dead. Cas is all we have left, well not entirely, we still do have few close friends like family but other than Charlie he's the closest we just won't loose him either" Sam said.
"Wow, you know you really sound like your brother there, I mean you two are so different in many ways yet similar too" Ava replied.
"Yeah, I know that's what makes us more than just brothers but in way Dean's my best friend, we just complement each other so much" Sam said. "
Yeah, I saw that from the start and in a different way me and Dean also complement each other, he's the only person I really felt that way with and I think he feels the same for me other than you that is" Ava replied.
"I know, just like me and Gwen, you two are really made for each other and I wouldn't say that about any other woman" Sam replied.
Time passed on as the two of them continued to wait under the large tree for their clothes to dry while they just relaxed and continued their talk getting quite bored. Then suddenly they heard noises that spooked them both.
"What do you think that is?" asked Ava.
"I don't know, I hope there aren't any of those leviathans" Sam told her.
"Either way, it can't be good, we need to get out of here" Ava said.
The two of them quickly put on their clothes despite them not being dry yet, then afterwards they picked up their weapons and looked around them. The noises got louder and louder and it sounded like someone or something was getting closer.
"Sam what are we going to do, what if it those leviathans and if not it could be any of those creatures in this place?" Ava whispered while still looking about her.
"We need to find a place to hide just in case" Sam told her and then walked away from the huge tree and tried to find a place to in those bushes.
However, just as they were prepared to hide behind bushes near the trees, they heard a voice and turned around.
"Well, well, well, look what we got here" said the voice.
Both Sam and Ava found themselves facing a group of vampires, about at least six of them, three males and three females all of them with sinister looks on their faces. Both Sam and Ava raised their swords preparing for a fight for their lives.
"Hey, we don't want any trouble, we just looking for an old friend of mine" Sam said with fear racing on him as he knew he was in real danger.
"But trouble has found you" said one of the male vampires, the largest one with a dark beard and longish dark hair dressed like a hobo. "You don't remember us do you, Sam Winchester?" he asked Sam.
Sam eyes just lit up as he realized these vampires knew him but he doesn't remember them.
"You and your brother Deano boy, killed us, just one day came to our little nest and offed every one us when we were just minding our own business partying" said the bearded vampire.
Sam still didn't recognize any of them as there had been so many vampires they killed and they raided plenty of vampire nests over the years.
"Sorry, you guys don't ring a bell to me, there have been maybe hundreds of vamps we ganked over the years" Sam said.
"Well, to jog your memory we had our nest in Maine the city Lewiston, we were happy and free and then along came you and your brother who started offing of our pack and then you raided our hang out and killed all of us, we learned from others who have been killed by you two who you are, you're the Winchester hunters" the bearded vampire told them.
Sam's eyes lit up again as his memory was slightly started to return.
"Yes, I do recall you, that was four years ago, you all were so happy terrorizing the city sucking the blood of innocent folks, you apparently had a history of going from town to town and just killing folks before moving on to another" Sam said.
"Hey, we were just doing what we had to do to survive" replied another vampire next to the bearded one, a skinny long haired blonde man. "Not if that includes killing folks" Sam replied back still preparing for a battle.
"Hey, we didn't come here to relive old times, we heard around that you were here, it's payback time" the bearded vampire said.
"Yeah, we know that the leviathans have a bounty on your head and we thought we find you and deliver you to them ourselves for a reward. We heard our mother Eve particularly wants you which makes you very valuable or we would have just killed you right now" said the blond vampire.
"Of course, we can have no use of the chick, we can just get rid of her or have a little fun with her first" said another vampire, a heavyset long haired dirty looking man who looked like your stereotypical creep.
"Over your dead body" cried out Ava.
"Hey, we can do this the easy way or the hard way but you're coming with us one way or another" said the bearded vampire.
Both Sam and Ava held tight grips on their swords holding it up as they were prepared for battle. "I guess it's the hard way then" Sam replied.
"Very, well then" said the bearded vampire who then turned to this comrades. "Okay everybody, remember we need him alive, I don't care what you all do to the chick" he said then he turned back to face them as Ava kind of squirmed of the thought of what those vampires had in mind with her.
Within seconds the vampires lunged at them and Sam and Ava did their best to fight them using their fighting skills as they used their swords against them chopping off heads. They were quite the duo as they continued with their combat against the vampires until they managed to behead most of them and only the bearded vampire was left. However, being quite the fighter himself and having the advantage of superhuman strength, he managed to overpower both of them and after knocking Sam to the ground he was prepared to pounce on him until Ava intervened to save Sam. She seemed to have the upper hand as she fought viciously but unfortunately, the bearded vampire got the upper hand with a vicious punch to the face knocking her to the ground face down.
Then he managed to get on top of her before she had a chance to get up and grabbed a hold of her hair lifting her head up while placing a sharp blade to her throat. Ava whose's face was sore from the punch struggled but the vampire was too strong as he now had his knees on her back.
"You move and I'll slit your throat" the vampire said and Ava who had been struggling stopped in defeat.
"Ava!" Sam cried out as he tried to rush to her but the vampire warned him off.
"One move from you and the girl dies" he said as he tided the sharp blade to her throat and Sam knew he meant it.
"Now drop your sword if you don't want me to kill your little gal pal" he told him.
"Don't do it Sam!" yelled out Ava in an attempt to sacrifice herself.
"Hey, I shut your trap if I were you" the bearded vampire cried out as he tugged harder of the grip he had on Ava's hair causing her some pain. Then he turned to Sam again. "Now, I suggest you do what I say cause I dead serious" he cried out.
Sam looked at Ava and saw how helpless she looked and knew he had to accept defeat so he tossed his sword away. "Okay, I did it, now let her go, it's me you want anyway" he said.
"Yeah, but since you two slaughtered my crew, I figured I repay you the favor by killing this pretty thing anyway" he said with a sinister look on his face.
"Hey, we had a deal, I give up, you can just take me to Eve right now, you said you'll let her go!" Sam cried out.
"Well, I change my mind, since you all killed off all of my friends, you and your brother were the reason we were trapped in this hell hole in the first place and now you killed off all my crew here, you and your brother had been in thorn in my life both in the living and now in death so I this is payback. I'm going to off this bitch and the treat is, I'll make you watch" he yelled back with so much rage and hatred in this tone.
"Please, you don't have to do this, taking me to Eve would be your biggest revenge, she has nothing to do with it" Sam replied with fear in this tone.
"She has plenty to do with it, she helped in killing on my friends including my mate, so yeah, she's going to pay" the vampire fired back again in an angry tone.
"Sam, just run, please get away, I'm dead anyway but you a have chance, find your old pal Benny and help Dean, just go please!" cried out Ava looking so scared despite her willing to make such a sacrifice.
"No, Ava, I won't just abandon you not after leaving Cas, not this time" Sam cried out.
"All that's so touching and sweet but won't do you any good, bye bye bitch" the vampire cried as he tightened the blade to Ava's throat and was about to slit it when out of nowhere a sword swung and chopped off the vampire's head and the rest of this body just fell on Ava.
Ava just laid there feeling panic and confusion as she was still alive yet she could feel this body now on top of her. Sam just had a look of relief as he stared at who swung the sword.
"Hey, comrade long time no see, never thought I see you in these parts again" said a familiar voice with a southern accent.
Standing right behind Ava and now the headless body of the vampire now on top of her was none other than Benny who just stood there with a calm smile on his face.
