This sequel takes place sometime after my first fanfic. There will be more returning characters from the show and my first fanfic along with more new ones in this story.
Chapter 29 A Celebration and A New Future
Within moments, Dean, Sam, Ava and Castiel were now in the main room of the bunker where they were all greeted by Adam, Charlie, Madame Bess and Gwen. Upon sight, the group at the bunker all hugged the returning group with Gwen and Sam embracing each other tightly then giving a lingering passionate kiss. It was really a joyful moment as everybody was so thrilled to get Dean back safe and sound and the others had returned from their mission also safe and sound and the gang was truly back together.
"You don't know how it fretful it was not hearing from you and unable to contact to see if you were okay" Madame Bess replied after everybody had calmed down.
"Yeah, we were really scared, me and grandmom even tried to use our psychic abilities to see if you were okay but nothing seemed to work" Gwen replied.
"Hey, all that it matters is guys I'm back and here to stay and boy am I starved, you all have anything" was all Dean could say at that moment and everybody was quite amused food was on mind right there and now.
"We got some leftovers, we get you whatever you want man, this feels like such a celebration right now" Adam replied.
"Same goes for me, all the thing that matters Dean is you're here where you belong" Charlie told him as she gave him another hug as Dean hugged her back.
"Yeah, I know, kiddo" he told her.
After getting over their happy moment of Dean's return, Dean headed to the refrigerator to get some leftovers for dinner, Ava and Sam and even Castiel joined them as they were hungry too. The others had already eaten as Madame Bess had cooked a nice meal for them and even saved some food for the others convincing themselves they would return. Sam and Ava gave them all the details to what happened to them trapped in purgatory while Dean told him about his time with the reapers being stuck mainly one room, where there was nothing much to do but exercise to keep and shape, even talk to a rat that was scurrying around the house, he even named the rat Hank.
He was fed some food three times a day, morning, noon and night and given some juice or water to drink and if he needed to use the bathroom, he had to use a rusty tin bucket they gave him which they would then take out and dispose of it to God know's where after he was finished. He was forced to sleep on the hard floor with just a blanket and an old couch pillow and his back became a bit sore from that. The food he got wasn't much and not the type of food that he liked and his stomach would growl due to his hunger.
He ate the leftovers like he hadn't eaten in awhile and finished everything on his plate while chugging down a can of beer. Sam and Ava also ate quite eagerly since now they were back from purgatory, their hunger and thirst really showed and they two chugged down their drinks. Castiel also enjoyed some food along with him as he had gotten used to eaten human food even though he didn't need it to survive like mortals do. The others just sat with them listening to their stories they told them while they ate. After finishing up their meals, everybody hung out in the main room again as Dean and Sam convinced Madame Bess and Ava to stick around a bit longer and Ava decided to stay for a few days before going to visit her parents.
Since it was late, she decided to call them in the morning before breakfast and Castiel had gone to bring back her van that she had left in the parking lot of a motel and he managed to teleport it to the bunker garage now safe and completely unharmed. Everybody was now just talking and laughing until it was way past midnight, about twenty minutes to 1:am, so Madame Bess and Gwen finally decided to leave since they would need to open their shop the next morning, although they would both come in late leaving their employees to take care the business. Madame Bess gave everybody a hug as did Gwen although with Sam, they gave each other a nice passionate lingering kiss before saying their goodbyes.
Gwen and Ava then promised to keep in touch and call each other and after giving their final goodbye, Castiel then transported them back to their place and then returned and remained with the rest of the group as they invited him to stick around too as long as he likes. Despite it being so late, nobody was ready to retire to bed yet, Ava was now engaging in some conversation with Charlie while Adam was talking with Castiel as he wanted to get more details of the adventures in purgatory and what it was like. Dean then turned to Sam.
"Sam, I really need to discuss something with you in private, and it won't take long if you don't mind" he told him.
Sam just looked a bit curious but nodded his head. "Sure Dean, okay" he replied.
They both slipped away from the main room and went someplace in the bunker where they could get some privacy.
"Alright Dean, what could you possibly say to me that you couldn't say out there?" Sam asked him.
"It's about Ava" Dean said.
"What about Ava?" Sam asked.
"You know, being a virtual prisoner of those reapers and wondering if I will ever see her and any of you guys again, had me really thinking about our relationship and all" Dean said.
"Your relationship? Dean, you already told me that you loved her and she loves you and all" Sam said.
"I know, that's the point, I mean, this time, it made me realize how much I loved her and the thought of never seeing her again, scared the hell out of me. When I saw her there again after finally leaving that place, waiting for me, knowing that I was really free, it felt like all was right with the world again just because she was there and I had her in my arms again, I'm telling you I never wanted to let her go again after that" Dean said.
"So, Dean, where is this going?" Sam asked him.
"Well, like I told you before that me and Ava had decided to take our relationship to the next level someday and even though we weren't going to make that decision right away, we were going to wait a little and then have that conversation again when the time was right. But, the truth is I don't know when the time is ever going to be right and I'm realized I don't want to wait anymore" Dean said.
Sam's eyes lit up as he knew where this was going. "Do, you mean what I think you mean?" he asked him.
Dean just nodded his head like an eager lovesick teenager.
"Yeah, I do, and I wanted to go by you first then Charlie and Adam since it affects all of you two, but yes Sam, I'm ready" he said.
"You're ready?" Sam asked him.
"Yeah, I think it's time that I made my relationship with Ava more permanent, no more just getting together occasionally, but being together long-term" Dean said.
Sam's eyes lit up again as swallowed and was prepared for what Dean was about to say. Dean still looking a bit anxious just placed both his hands on Sam's shoulders with those excited look in his eyes smiling.
"Sam, I think when Ava is not out there hunting, she should stay in bunker with us. It's time she moved in, is what I mean" he said.
Sam's eyes really lit up again a bit taken back by what he was hearing.
"Come on Sam, don't be too surprised, you must've known this would happen someday especially I told you about me and Ava deciding one day to make our relationship more permanent" Dean told him.
"Yeah, look, I know, I mean I knew one day it would lead to all of this, but it still feels so unexpected, I thought for some reason you wait months before you deciding to have her move in with us" Sam said.
"Hey, just figure I speed up the process, I mean Sam, after everything that's happened, it just made me see that I can't imagine a life without her, I really want to be with her and not just a week each month. I mean see her everyday, wake up with her everyday, I love her what can I say" Dean said sort of shrugging his shoulders.
"Well, she really loves you too, I mean when were in purgatory, she was willing to go to hell and back to save you. She was determined to do whatever it takes to get you out of the mess with the reapers and was willing to put her life on the line to succeed. She wasn't going to return empty-handed, getting back to you and saving you from the reapers was everything to her" Sam said.
Dean just sighed. "And I do the same for her, that's what makes this so right" he said.
"This is a knew step, I have to say" Sam replied.
Dean sighed again.
"Well, I know, it's kind of scary and exciting at the same time, but I'm ready more than ever and I just wanted to let you know first before I ask her. Of course, I need to talk to Adam and Charlie too before I talk to her about it, so what do you say?" Dean asked him with a pleading look on his face as he was begging for Sam to be okay with it and be happy for him.
Sam paused a bit, then sighed a bit as he was thinking about it. "I say, okay, whatever makes you happy" he told him.
Dean's eyes lit up like an excited happy child. "Really, are you sure about this bro?" he asked him.
Sam smiled and nodded his head. "Yes Dean, I'm sure, if this makes you happy, I'll support you, and I know Adam and Charlie will too" he said.
"Thanks again, I can't wait to ask her, you know this feels all new to me and it shouldn't. It's not like this is the first time I lived with woman and yet I feel like some scared newlywed, scared the wits out of my mind that this is too good to be true" Dean said.
"Are you worried that it won't work out like the last time you lived with you know?" Sam asked as they both knew who was talking about and it brought back Dean's time with Lisa.
Dean just sighed a bit and nodded his head. "I guess a little, but it this is so different than when I lived with Lisa and Ben. With them, I tried to separate my life as a hunter with the normal apple pie life I had with them and Lisa for her part tried to just go with the flow but in the end, neither of us could do it. I mean, as much as Lisa and Ben meant a lot to me and I was committed, it sometimes felt like we were playing at being a family rather than actually being one and in the end, me and Lisa just didn't want to play anymore like we outgrew it" he told him.
Sam just listened on sympathetically as he always knew Lisa and Ben was a sore spot for him. "I get it Dean" he told him.
"It's so much different with Ava because we both live the same life, we shared in the same life together, we don't have to separate it with a normal life as we both accept that the fact that for us, we don't need what's typically considered normal. The abnormal is so normal for us and that's okay" Dean finished.
"Yeah, I know Dean, I feel that same way with Gwen" Sam said.
There was a brief pause and then Dean formed a grin on his face. "You know speaking of Gwen, there could be a time for you to also want to make it more permanent" he replied.
Sam just looked a bit surprised as he wasn't expecting Dean to bring up him and Gwen. "Dean!" he cried out.
"Hey, I saw how you were with her tonight, you were practically at her side during most the time they were here and then you two exiting the room together for a little private time for almost a half an hour" Dean said with the same grin on his face.
"And you and Ava also excused yourselves for almost the same time" Sam said.
"Exactly, you two are just as committed as me and Ava is all I'm saying and it may not be long for you to consider asking her to move in the bunker with all of us. There's plenty of room here and we won't object to it, I mean it's only fair and all" Dean said.
Sam just gave another sigh. "I know and all but we haven't discussed it yet" he said.
"When are you going to discuss, I mean Sam, you said it yourself that she's willing to move down here to be near you, so you gotta know she's been thinking about it for a while now" Dean said.
"Yeah, I know, but I mean I guess we were just taking it a step at a time the same as you and Ava" said Sam.
"Or little brother, you don't want to admit that you're bit scared yourself" Dean told him slyly.
"Okay, yeah maybe, and I know that I've probably been holding it off a bit, it's like you said scary and it's a big change in all our lives" Sam told him.
"Nothing has to change Sam, not really" Dean said.
"Of course something is gonna change, this is a big new step in our lives, having the women we love move in with us sharing a life with them on a more permanent basis, it won't be exactly like it was before once that happens" Sam said.
Dean slightly nodded his head in agreement with an "okay you win" look on his face.
"Yeah, I guess some things will change after this, but change doesn't always have to be bad, sometimes change is good. And this kind of change maybe scary but I also think it's good new step for both of us since it will show that despite what we believed in the past, we do have room for that special someone in our lives, we don't need to shut anyone out to live the life we lead" Dean told him.
Sam's eyes kind of lit up again as he gave a shocked and impressed look on his face. "Wow, listen to you, you actually sound like the intellectual one for a change" he told him.
"For a change, really so I never sounded intelligent before?" Dean said in a sarcastic tone.
"No, that's not what I meant, I just meant that I'm usually the one that says stuff like that but hearing from you" Sam replied grinning.
"Yeah, well I can have a brain once and a while believe it or not" Dean said teasingly.
"All right, all right" Sam replied back, laughing a bit. Soon they both stopped and looked serious again.
"Anyway, what about you and Gwen?" Dean asked.
Sam sighed a bit as he always knew this conversation would come someday.
"I know we have to discuss it someday about taking this relationship even further, I guess I was sort of waiting for her to bring it up or that's my excuse. The truth is I was bit scared and have been stalling a bit knowing how such a step will change everything but like you said Dean, sometimes change can be good" Sam replied.
"See, doesn't hurt to admit I can be the wise one" Dean replied again in sarcastic tone.
"Okay, Oh wise one, you're right, I know I need to stop being scared and talk to Gwen about this and I promise I will" Sam said.
"But when is the answer?" Dean urged.
"I know the perfect time, Valentine's Day, I can bring it up then, maybe take Gwen out of a romantic date and we can use time to discuss it" Sam said.
"Valentine's Day huh?" Dean thought as he briefly paused. "That's sounds I guess romantic enough in a Hallmark or cheesy chick flick kind of way but what exactly are you going to discuss, her coming to live down here, her moving in bunker with us?" he asked still curious to what Sam's plans are.
"We will definitely be discussing her coming to live down here as she had suggested in the past if you have to know" Sam told him.
"And where exact will she be staying if she does?" Dean asked so eager to get it out of him already.
"She talked about still taking it slow and finding an apartment and a job in the past and see where it takes us, she never expected to just move in the bunker" Sam said.
"Are you sure that's what she really wants or what you really want, I mean couldn't she have only said that so she wouldn't pressure you so much?" Dean asked.
"No, uh I don't know" Sam said fumbling on his words as he was thinking about it.
"But, come on, you two have been taking it slow long enough, and you already admitted that you love her and she loves you and she's even willing to move down here to be with you. If that's the case what there's no need take anything slow any further, just shack up together already like what I plan for me and Ava to do" Dean told him.
Sam paused as he thought for a moment about all of this. Was he really ready to take that big step? He knew he loved Gwen and she loved him and they both wanted to take their relationship to the next level but living together, they hadn't even discussed that. The only thing they talked about was Gwen moving down there someday in the near future, finding an apartment and a job so they can continue to see each other on a more regular basis and see where it takes them and possibly one day her moving in the bunker would be the next reasonable step. But now Dean was talking about moving in together instead of going through all that and he had to admit the thought did scare him a bit as it would be a huge new change in the relationship but the question is, is he ready and is Gwen ready?
After thinking it over a bit longer, he finally knew the answer to his question.
"Well, Sam what's the plan?" Dean asked him eagerly.
Sam just looked at Dean in the eyes and nod his head. "I think you're right; I think I am ready for that next step and I'll ask Gwen when the time comes" he said.
"Hey, that's my boy" Dean said excited for both himself and his brother.
"Hey, look at us, who would have thought that either of us would get girlfriends because of the life we lead but here we are, we haven't only have women that that we love but I'm about to ask mine to move in with me and you're about ask yours on Valentine's Day, set the date" Dean replied as he slap his brother on the shoulder in a proud way.
"Yes, who would have thought" Sam replied thinking it all over as it was all sinking in.
Dean was about to ask a woman that he loves to stay at the bunker with him and he was going to talk to Gwen on Valentine's Day about her doing the same thing realizing how much he loves her and now as he thought about it more, he knew for sure he was ready event though he still felt a bit scared about it all he was also now looking forward to it. The bunker will be crowded now, with six people living there with Castiel occasionally coming around but he had to admit that having Gwen around everyday in a real committed relationship excited him, she was the most important person in his life now next to Dean, Castiel and the others of course.
"You know I also have to say having Ava around can also be quite useful, since if we need an extra hand on a case, we don't need to call her wherever she is to show up since she'll be right here at the bunker with us" Dean said.
"So now we're suddenly a trio?" Sam asked partly joking and partly serious.
"I wouldn't call us a trio, I mean Ava made it clear that after losing her old partner and mentor Bev, she prefers to go it alone, but every now and then we may require a third party and Ava's our girl plus we can also be a help to her on a case now and then whenever she needs it" Dean said with the same glowing look on his face.
"Yeah, I mean she's quite the hunter" Sam said.
"She's a great hunter, she can definitely hold her own and have my back and yours, she's done so in the past" Dean said.
Sam nodded his head. "Yes, when we were in purgatory, she held her own and was just as determined as I was complete our task, I would definitely want her in my corner" he said.
"She can be in all our corners" Dean added.
"So when are you going to ask her right now?" Sam asked.
"Nah, I think I will ask her tomorrow. I want to talk it over with Adam and Charlie first though but I think they will be on board" Dean said.
"Hey, what's keeping you all in there!" cried out Charlie from another room.
"Nothing Charlie, me and Sam were just having nice chat that's all" Dean said.
"Yeah, me and Dean were just talking about all that's happened what's the problem" cried out Sam.
"Well, we all are ready to turn in now, it's quite late that's all I want to say" Charlie's voice cried out.
Sam and Dean soon left the room where they confronted Charlie.
"Everything okay?" she asked them shrugging her shoulders a bit.
"We're all good Charlie really" Dean said.
"Well, everybody was wondering what you all were doing so long, but hey, I'm pooped" Charlie said and they three of them all returned to the main room.
Ava looked up when she saw Dean and went over to him. "Hey, we were all wondering about where you two disappeared to, kind missed you when you weren't here" she said in sexy tone.
Just then Dean just went up and gave Ava a nice embrace taken her aback as she kind of hugged him back then they both let go of each other.
"Woah, where did that come from?" she asked him a bit confused.
"I just thought how glad I'm here back in this place with you here with me, seeing you right now just reminded me of that, nothing else matters to me right now than you're here with me and all of us" he tld her.
Ava smiled looking quite touched. "Well, that goes diddo for me too. You know, it's getting late and I really feel like going to the bedroom and hitting the hey if that's all right with you" she said in seductive tone and a grin on her face hinting what she really meant.
Dean caught on as he nodded her head in gave her the same grin. "Yeah, I could definitely hit the hey" he told her.
"We can all hit the hey, I'm heading for bed too" said Adam.
"And I'll be departing too" Castiel said.
"No Cas, you're free to stay here tonight really, you don't have to leave" Dean said.
"Thanks for the invitation but I really do have to get going" Castiel said.
"Dean's right, you don't need to go, we kind of like it when you're here, you can stay as long as you like" Sam said.
"Really you guys, I have to be going but It was nice gathering and all" Castiel said.
"Well, if you have to go but thanks again for your help, we couldn't have done it without you" Dean said.
"Yeah, you really did come through for us, we will never forget" Sam said.
"Yeah, that goes double for me, if it weren't for you we wouldn't have gotten Dean back here" said Ava she clasp her arm around Dean's shoulder and Adam and Charlie just agreed.
Castiel just looked touched by the appreciation he was getting and feeling so welcomed around them. "Hey, that's what family is for" he told them as he smiled and they smiled back. "Well, goodbye you all for now at least, I will always pop in every now and then" he added."
"So long Cas" Dean said.
With that Castiel disappeared within seconds.
"You know, I always wonder where he does when he takes off like that?" asked Ava.
"Yeah, I always wondered that too, I mean does he just go around the world or whatever?" Adam wondered.
"Who knows with Cas, that's the real mystery but we can ask him the next time he pops in" Dean said.
Then he turned to Ava wrapped his arm around her shoulder too.
"Okay, lets hit that hey already" Dean said to her with a sly grin.
Then he turned to face everybody else.
"Goodnight, everybody we're turning in" he said.
"Goodnight, Dean, and thanks again for the talk" Sam said.
"Same here" Dean said then everybody said there goodnights and all headed for their bedrooms.
Late that night Dean and Ava made passionate love before falling asleep in each other's arms, Sam just thought about Gwen and their relationship before he fell asleep while Adam and Charlie both fell sleep quickly as they were both were tired out and soon it was all quiet and still all through the night.
