Chapter 52 The Heat Is On
Dean then read the note again as he continued to process the idea the bikers knew who they were and why they're there which means danger for all of them.
"Oh no Dean, what are we going to do now, they on to us," Jen replied a bit worried.
Dean turned to the gang once more who continued to look back and some of them were smirking at them then he looked back at Jen.
"The only thing we do now is go over and clue my brother and your sister in, come on" he urged, and he left the pool table and Jen soon followed as they headed over to the table where Sam and Becky were sitting and quickly sat down as both Sam and Becky just looked up at them confused.
"What's up, Dean something happened?" asked Sam as he knew that worried look Dean was giving meant something not good was happening or about to.
"Hey, look guys we're all in trouble, they're on to us" Dean told them.
"What?" Sam asked.
"They know who we are and everything" Dean went on as he showed Sam the note.
Sam read the note and looked a bit nervous, and Becky also wanted to read the note, so Sam handed it to her, and she read it to and now she looked scared as she handed it back to Sam.
"Oh my god, this means we're in danger, we better just get out of here" she said anxiously.
"Not that simple sis" Jen told her.
"Jen is right, the note said we are to stay here even after closing time or somebody else will die tonight, we can't risk somebody else's life" Dean said.
"But all of them are here, they must be bluffing unless…." Becky paused for a moment.
"Unless there is another werewolf out there just like the one that attacked us at my house" she went on.
"That could be a possibility and we don't want to risk that chance, who knows what they're do, signal any other werewolves out there to attack innocent people. The only option right now is to do what they say" Dean replied.
"Yeah, I agree besides, it's not like they're going to do anything in public anyway" Jen added.
"But Dean, then when the bar closes up, how are we going to just stay in here? I'm sure the bartender is going to kick everybody out" Sam said.
"Unless the bartender is a part of it" Dean theorized.
"A part of it?" Becky replied confused.
"Yeah, I remember that deep conversation he was having with one of the bikers, it seemed more than just simple small talk" Dean said.
"Yeah, I recall that too but how is the bartender involved unless he could be one of the werewolves we don't know about" Jen added.
"That could the case and if that is we got super cautious" Dean said.
"I here you, at least I still got my gun here" said Jen.
"So do we but we are outnumbered" Sam reminded everybody.
"Oh no, I thought I would be safer here around you guys, maybe you were right Sam, I should have stayed back at the motel, cause now I'm really freaking out" Becky said looking scared.
"Hey tough up sis, you wanted to be here, so deal with the heat as they say" Jen replied although Becky just ignored her.
"Hey, look Becky it's okay you're safe with us, we won't let anything happen to you we will find a way out of this" Sam said sympathetically, tying to reassure her.
"Just stay out of the way when things really heat up, take cover somewhere, we can't spend all of time holding your hand or protecting from things that go bump in the night" Jen replied as Dean was giving her that look knowing she she's still trying to act like she doesn't care about her kid sister.
"Gee thanks Jen, nice to know you care" Becky replied in annoyed tone.
Jen just ignored Becky. "Hey, we got a plan or what, we just hang out until it closes and remain and they just jump us" she replied.
"Well, we three can likely take them all out if we work together" Dean said pointing to both Sam and Jen, then he turns to Becky.
"Of course, Becky, I want you to hide in the restroom when it gets chaotic and lock it and don't come out until we say it's ready.
"Yeah, sis need you to stay out the way with it hits the fan" Jen told her.
"No problem there I know you guys will gank them all" Becky told them.
"Yeah once we get out of all this mess you are going to owe me a drink out and free lunch" Jen said.
"You're on" said Dean.
"The one thing I'm worried about is what if somebody hears all the gun firing and calls the sheriff's office. I mean we can't have the law coming over here when they turn into you know, besides that they could be in danger too" Sam replied.
"Hey, the townies would likely assume that some locals are shooting off firecrackers or fireworks or something like that. In a small town like this that is not farfetched" Dean told him.
"Yeah, Dean is right, I've been here long enough to know sometimes the kids around here like to do just that late at night, give them something rebellious and fun to do other than drink alcohol or smoke" Becky added.
"Alright, so it's set we wait around here and when it's closing time and everybody else has all left, we face off with these bloodthirsty freaks" Jen said.
"That's about it" Dean said.
"This is going to be a very long night" Jen replied as she finished off her drink.
Time passed as foursome just sat and waited even ordered more beer except for Becky and they all grew bored, and nobody said much to each other. Becky and Jen still were not over their friction with one another and hardly spoke to each other and once and while both Dean and Sam tried to give small talk hoping to lighten the mood, but nothing worked. Finally, when the bikers were finished their game and just sat back down at the table and drank some more beer and chatted among each other.
Then Dean and Jen got up and headed back to the pool table while Sam and Becky remained behind at their table and just watched or talked among themselves. Time seemed to pass so quickly as everybody occupied their time and the next thing it was just now five minutes to 11:00 closing time. Most of the customers had already left or were leaving except for them and the bikers. The bartender looked impatient as he watches a drunk guy being helped from the counter by one of the guys he came with while two of the other guys get up to leave.
"Okay, it's nearly 11, I'm about to close, so you all hurry up and go on now" he replies rushing the guys out.
"Okay, we're out of here already, but what those dudes" the guy helping the drunk man replies referring to the bikers.
"Hey, don't worry them, I make sure everybody is out at closing time just get your buddy home already I think he's had more than enough" the bartender says.
"Hey you still got some folks at the pool table, and back there, how come you're not rushing them out either?" one of the other guys asked as he noticed them.
"Hey, don't worry about us, we will be through in a about a few more minutes, we will out of here once he closes up and our friends back there are waiting on us" Dean replied to the bartender.
"Like I said, don't worry about them I will take care of it, now just take your friend home already" the bartender urged.
"Okay, come on Holt, time go home and sleep it off" said the guy holding on to his drunk friend as he walks him out while his two buddies walk ahead and open the door for them before following them out and within a couple more minutes there was a sound of a car driving off.
That only left the four of them with the bikers and everybody held their breaths as they were prepared for what was about to happen.
"Okay, this is it guys" Dean said looking very serious as he kept his eyes on the bikers as they all got up from their table and turned around to face them with the bartender also looking on with a stern look on his face.
Sam held his breath too and then turned to face Becky. "When I give you the signal just remember to head restroom and lock the door if you can and remain there until we tell you it's safe to come out okay" he reminded her.
"No problem" Becky replied looking scared as one would be in this situation.
All of three of the hunters just grabbed a grip on their guns that were in their pocket or in Jen's was stuffed halfway inside on the back of pants hidden behind her jacket.
"Hey, now that the crowd is gone, I guess we're all alone at last hunters" said one of the bikers a large guy with long dark hair with a bushy beard and tattoos on his arms and seemed like the leader of the group.
"So, you know who we are?" Dean replied as he, Sam, Becky and Jen all got up from the table preparing for the worst.
"Of course, we've pegged you as hunters the moment you arrived; we had to make sure which is why we didn't make our move yet plus, we didn't want to draw any more attention after the recent events" the leader said.
"You mean after you and your pack snacked on some of the townies here" Dean replied sarcastic.
The bearded man just smirked and laughed a bit. "You can say something like, we had to lay low because we knew you might be keeping tabs on us, of course we were always one step ahead of you" he said gloating.
Sam then glanced at the bartender who was smirking along with the bikers. "And where do you fit in all of this?" he asked him.
"Oh, J.D. here" why he's one of us" the leader replied briefly turning to glance the bartender's way then turning back to face them.
"One of you, what you turned him?" Sam asked.
"No, well at least not recently" replied J.D. the bartender who then briefly paused before going on. "You see, I've been one of them for a long time now" he told them.
"Yeah, when we first decided to scope this place, we had to be discreet because of hunters like yourselves in the past, so we sent J.D. down in this town to check the place out. Then in order to mingle among the townies, he had to get a job here as the new bartender after let's say the old bartender had a little accident with his car" the leader finished.
"You offed some poor bastard just to steal his job?" Dean replied.
"Hey, we couldn't get rid of him the regular way, or it draw attention, we had to make it seem like an accident then J.D. got his job since he bartended in the past and he was hired on the spot" the leader finished.
"Yeah, and I just spent quite some time just mingling among the locals becoming one of them, while of course, I filled the gang here on ongoings of this place and then after while they all showed up, a group of bikers just passing through" said J.D.
"You all passed through alright, killed a few locals that pissed you off although I still don't know how you managed since you all had alibies, and we know it couldn't be the bartender here since he was here when it all went down. The only way was for you to have another member we didn't know about or someone you turned" Dean fired back.
"You got it Sherlock. You see we needed alibis when those dudes were smoked since we would have been too obvious, so we turned a local, a mechanic, Wiley. He did anything we wanted to prove himself and nobody would suspect one of their own" said the leader.
"He was the one that killed Ned" Becky cried out who had been silent on his time.
"That's right little lady, and he was supposed to take you and Paul Bunyan out tonight as well" the leader replied.
"Sorry about that, we had a run-in with your hitman tonight but let's just say he lost the fight" Sam fired back.
"Bummer" replied the leader shrugging his shoulders. "That's okay we can handle you all ourselves tonight" he went on.
"I don't get it, if you knew we were on to you guys why not just take off, why even stick around?" Dean asked.
"You don't really get what we're really trying to do. We're not here to just snack on some poor fellows then just take off to another place, what we want do is much bigger" the leader said.
"What do you mean bigger?" Sam asked.
"We mean, we are getting tired of just roaming from place-to-place snacking on anything in sight. No, this time we want something much different. We want to settle down in some place and eventually take over it. Not just anyplace, a small hick town like this were we would be off the hunters radar. Of course, we had to take things very slow, we will snack off of animals blood for a while, usually a deer, rabbits, squirrels, birds that we find in the woods, get rid if the feces to live off on for the moment, then we one by one turn some of the locals and they turn other locals, we sent our new recruits to off some the folks that pissed us off just to test their loyalty and maybe the thrill of it all and in enough time we will run this little town" the leader explained.
"Wow, a town takeover over by werewolves, that's something new" Dean replied sarcastically.
"Yeah, I thought the whole thing up myself, and it took a lot of planning" the leader said in a prideful tone.
"Wow, who would of thought that a pack dumb animals could come up with a clever plan, thought you were dogs were only good for is causing raucous and taking off leaving become any damage in your wake the reckless creatures you are" Jen who had been silent this whole time finally spoke up.
"Woah, there kind of personal there, little lady" said the leader smirking.
"Hey, you freaks may not remember me…." Jen said before she was cut off real quick.
"I remember you just fine there hun. In fact, I recognized you the moment I saw you come into the town. It was while back we came across you with your boyfriend and his crew, I still remember feasting on your boyfriend" said the leader as he and the rest of the pack started laughing.
This just angered Jen who was ready to draw her gun out from the back of her pants and Dean sensed it.
"Hey, come down there, don't let the rile you up, that's' what he wants you to do" he told her.
"Yeah, don't worry, he hasn't gotten me, but it will be rewarding when we kick their asses" Jen replied loud enough for them to hear.
Some the other members just cry out "Ooooooo" in a mocking tone as they laugh off her comments.
"You're a feisty one I say, I knew that the moment I saw you, I was gonna spare you and instead turn you and make you my old lady, but you got away. When I recognized you after all this time riding in on your motorcycle only now as red-head, I figured I have my chance again, besides, I think I like you better as a red-head" he told her slyly.
"It will be only my freaking dead body I will ever be part of your pack and be your side piece" Jen said.
This just make the leader laugh some more. "Well, let's hope it doesn't come to that, but you will be mine after all this is over" he told her as Jen just looked grossed out of the thought.
"No, after all of this, you and your whole pack are the ones that are going to be finished" Dean said.
The leader just smirked some more. "We'll see" he said with a grin.
"Hey, Hound enough of this chitter chatter, let's do what we planned to do and wipe out these chumps" said one the bikers impatiently.
"In a moment, Speed, that we will do" said the leader.
"Hound, seriously that's what they call you? Well, the name does fit" Dean replied sarcastically.
"Enough talking, you hunters are the ones that are going to be hunted tonight" said Hound as he and others including the J.D., the bartender who got out from behind the counter to join his fellow pack were now looking very menacing and within moments they no longer looked like humans but were in their werewolf forms now growling showing teeth and yellow eyes and now had claws.
Dean, Sam, Jen and Becky just stood there frightened but all except for Becky were prepared for battle and were suddenly felt fearless in the face of danger.
"Okay guys it's time" Dean replied as the three hunters touched their weapons and while Becky just stood behind Sam with her hands clutching a hold of him as she tried not to panic even though she hadn't been more scared.
"Let's do this" replied Sam and soon the battle began.
