(Sparring Session)
*January 15th, 1907*
*Iv Plains*
Rose walked over to her closet and pulled out an imperial sword, observing it with great interest.
"Alright, this shall be your sword. How does that sound, Dorothy?" Rose asked Dorothy before walking over to show her the sword.
Seeing this made Dorothy think to herself for a moment before she finally responded.
"R-Really? I'm sure the sword had to choose its owner, correct? I remember Keiko telling me about it." Dorothy responded in a curious voice, hoping to find a clear answer on the matter.
"You're right and that's why I'm giving you this sword, but before I do, I should tell you about this sword." Rose responded to Dorothy while she walked over to sit across from her, ready to tell her about the sword.
Once Rose sat down, Dorothy positioned herself in front of her, eager to learn about the sword.
"I would love to hear about the sword, Rose." Dorothy spoke out in an intrigued voice, ready to hear about the story.
Soon after, Rose slowly got comfortable in her seat before finally telling Dorothy about her new sword.
"Alright, this sword was originally forged by me as a gift to the former ruler of Oz, you've met him before, Oscar Diggs." Rose explained to Dorothy and this revelation surprised Dorothy and Betsy as they had surprised looks on their faces.
"Wait, this sword was meant for Oscar, the former Wizard of Oz? That's incredible but how did it end up back in your possession?" Dorothy asked Rose in a curious voice, eager to know more as her expression became more focused while Betsy nodded in agreement.
"I'm curious as well. I've heard stories of Oscar's days of ruling Oz from Dorothy so I'm also curious to know more." Betsy chimed into the conversation, also eager to know more.
After hearing both responses from the girls, Rose nodded in confirmation before resuming her story.
"I made the sword as a means for him to defend himself against Mombi, The Wicked Witch of the East, and The Wicked Witch of the West. My sister and her two friends knew Oscar was a fraud so they threatened to kill him and take over Oz." Rose explained to the girls, taking a sip of coffee from her mug before resuming the story.
"Then one day, Oscar sought out my assistance, hoping for me to forge him a sword, and being the kind woman, I agreed to this, unfortunately, the sword didn't choose him and that's because he was unworthy of so the sword was useless to him, later on, Oscar was visited by the Wicked Witch of the West, and to make a long story short, Oscar gave away the sword in exchange of his secret being kept under wraps.." Rose continued to explain to the girls, taking another sip of coffee while the girls were intrigued by the new information given to them.
"So it was originally meant to be Oscar's sword but he wasn't worthy so instead he traded in the sword in exchange for his life being spared, right? How interesting indeed. Did the witch know of its power?" Dorothy asked Rose in a curious voice, eager to know more about everything.
After the question, Rose nodded in confirmation before speaking once more.
"Yes, The Wicked Witch of the West knew of its power, she wanted more than just her magic when it was time to conquer Oz alongside my sister and the Witch of the East; however, she found out that she wasn't worthy as well so she simply put it away, hoping that she'll eventually become worthy." Rose responded once more as things were becoming more clearer for Dorothy.
"I see. I bet her evil eye spied on Oscar. I remember seeing it back when I first encountered her, and she even mentioned to me that her eye sees everything that goes on." Dorothy responded in a serious voice while Rose nodded.
"Correct, it was likely that the evil eye spied on me and Oscar, gathering the information from there." Rose responded, getting up from the chair and walking toward the window to look at the scenery.
"Once you killed her, I traveled to Winkie Country to pay your friend, Tin Woodman, a visit so I could retrieve it." Rose spoke once more to Dorothy before chuckling at herself, speaking yet again.
"It's funny, I didn't expect that a little girl could take down the Wicked Witch. She wasn't that strong, having only a battle power of 3,000 but that still surprised me when news broke out." Rose spoke to Dorothy yet again while turning around to face her, smiling at her confidently.
Hearing this made Dorothy chuckle while she rubbed the back of her head.
"Well, It was an accident since she tried to kill my dog Toto and that bucket of water was the first thing I saw, also, I was only eight at the time so I wasn't thinking straight.." Dorothy responded with a chuckle while Rose shook her head.
"But you still managed to kill her so that's quite impressive for someone your age during that time." Rose reassured Dorothy before walking over toward the door.
"Yeah, I guess you're right but you know what's the strangest thing? Why would the Wicked Witch even have a bucket of water in her castle anyway if she's allergic to it?.." Dorothy spoke to Rose, pondering to herself about this while getting up from the bed alongside Betsy.
"Who knows honestly, she was never the smartest one out of the witches but moving on, let's head outside, I think it's time for some training." Rose responded with a smile, opening the door while doing so.
Following this, Dorothy and Betsy nodded with great enthusiasm before following Rose as they made their way downstairs to head outside.
*Outside*
Dorothy, Betsy, and Rose made it outside as the trip was getting ready for their upcoming training session, also, Keiko and Flynn were sitting on the grass, watching the ongoing event.
"Alright, we're going to start with some warmups, okay? We can't just rush into things so I want you and Betsy to do twenty push-ups and ten sit-ups, and we'll go from there." Rose advised the girls while she was met with both of them nodding in confirmation.
"Alright, seems easy enough." Dorothy responded while getting into a push-up position alongside her friend.
Soon after, Dorothy and Betsy began their push-ups while Rose watched the exercise with great interest.
"Remember to keep your breathing at a steady pace. Don't push yourselves too hard, alright?" Rose advised the girls before gently placing Dorothy's future sword on the ground and she sat on the floor alongside it.
During the next few minutes, Dorothy and Betsy completed their push-ups and sit-ups while Betsy was exhausted and Dorothy wasn't too bothered, given her past experiences in training with Omby Amby.
"Man, that was a workout. I never did this much exercise outside of school." Betsy spoke in a slightly fatigued voice while Dorothy nodded in agreement.
"That's exactly how I felt when training with Omby Amby. I never had much physical exercise before so my first time was similar to your shoes but it takes time to get used to." Dorothy responded to her friend, getting up to do some stretches while Rose watched with an intrigued look on her face.
"So Dorothy trained with Omby Amby, eh? No wonder why she's strong for someone from her world. This is further proof that she might be worthy of this sword.." Rose thought to herself while looking down at the sword before turning her direction back to the two girls, getting up from the ground while doing so.
"Good job! Now we can finally have a sparring session. The rules are simple, you must land a blow on me, that's all. I won't go easy on the both of you so don't expect any mercy." Rose explained to the girls while doing some stretches to prepare herself for the sparring match.
Following this, Dorothy and Betsy nodded, getting up from the ground to prepare for the sparring match.
"Seems easy enough. I did the same sparring session with Omby Amby a few months ago so landing a blow on you shouldn't be an issue." Dorothy responded in a confident voice, turning into her super form in the process while Betsy formed a stance.
"Alright Blaze, I guess we gotta work together, so don't let me down.." Betsy whispered to Blaze while hearing the groans of the woman from her shoes.
"Whatever. I didn't ask to be a part of your stupid group of friends but this does allow me to see Rose get punched so I'll guess I'll bite.." Blaze responded from the shoes in a tone of disdain yet confidence before giggling to herself.
Soon after, Betsy's shoes illuminated sparks of blue electricity, ready for the sparring session.
Meanwhile, Flynn watched everything with an intrigued look on his face.
"Alright, time to find out how things are going to go for Dorothy and Betsy, and more importantly, time to see what tricks Rose has up her sleeve.." Flynn thought to himself while he continued to watch the ongoing events with great anticipation.
Back at the training field, Dorothy and Betsy began to charge toward Rose with great speed, hoping to land a blow on her.
"Both of you are wide open!" Rose cried out, quickly using her speed to get behind the girls.
At the moment, the sheer speed shocked the two girls and before they knew it, Rose delivered a swift elbow attack, knocking the girls to the ground.
After the attack, Dorothy and Betsy groaned in pain, slowly getting up.
"W-what the hell? I didn't even see her coming.." Dorothy uttered in shock, breathing to ease her pain while Betsy did the same thing.
"Like I said, I wasn't going to go easy on you both, now, come at me.." Rose spoke to the two girls once more, backing away to give the girls some space while forming a stance to prepare herself for the session.
Soon after, Dorothy charged directly at Rose with great speed, ready to deliver a hit; however, this failed since Rose caught the punch, surprising her even more.
"W-What?!" Dorothy uttered in shock; however, before she could say anything more, she saw Rose forming a fist.
After this, Rose delivered a swift punch toward Dorothy's stomach, sending her flying into the air before collapsing to the ground.
"Dorothy!" Betsy cried out in shock; however, before she had time to charge at Rose, she saw Rose rushing toward her, smirking at her.
"You thought I was only skilled at swordsmanship? You're sadly mistaken, Betsy." Rose spoke to Betsy in an almost mocking and conceding voice.
Hearing this made Dorothy slowly get up from the ground, wobbling in the process.
"Yeah, she's much stronger than Dion. That's a fact.." Dorothy uttered, smirking in the process as she wasn't planning on giving up.
The true fruits of Rose's training finally begin!
