Chapter 5: Manicure and Makeover Invitations

One seasonably cold day of January 2025, I met up with my childhood friends Sarah, James, and Henri along with some of my other best friends Alex Russo, Justin Evans, Max Greenwald, Carly Shay, and Spencer Puckett, as well as Carly's stepdad, Freddie Benson, at Pittsburgh's Perfect Parties client Abigail Carson's apartment in Point Breeze. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. Abigail made her invitations out of her hand and special accessories. Then, we helped Abigail deliver them to her friends Victoria, Emma, Nicole, and Jessica. While jamming out to Kate Bush and Lizzo, we composed a Childhood Chat in which Sarah Ching discussed staying up all night in 1st grade in downtown Pittsburgh, Elizabeth Mosh discussed using her new stuffed animal in 12th grade in the North Side, Isabella Black discussed eating doughnuts for breakfast in 7th grade in Oakland, and Kaitlyn and Colleen Marioni discussed arranging their sleeping bag line in 9th grade in the South Side. "What did everyone think of the winter clothes activity in Indiana Township yesterday?" I asked. "I really liked it," James replied. "So did I," Sarah agreed. "I loved the brand of cashmere sweaters that were on display because I used to have one just like it. I remember wearing it on the day we celebrated James's 16th birthday in nearby Cheswick." "I also thought that the hoodies were amazingly cool and fun," James stated. "I also remember the lucky hoodie that I was wearing on my 16th birthday." "I like the black clothes best," Henri stated. "I remember when we wore black clothes to blend into an all-black environment in school." Then, while jamming out to NSYNC and 98 Degrees, we composed another Childhood Chat in which Rachel Luster discussed staying up all night as a baby in Ross Township, Samantha Mifflin discussed having a Netflix binge session at 2 years old in the southern suburbs, Taylor Paulson discussed playing a video game in 7th grade in Hampton Township, Nicole Ellis discussed watching YouTube videos in 7th grade in the western suburbs, Grace Luster discussed talking in silly accents in 3rd grade in McCandless, Kayla Jennis discussed listening to music in 11th grade in the northern suburbs, and Brooke Leesaw discussed using her new night light her senior year at Pitt in Westmoreland County. "Nevel would not let me stay up all night whenever we lived near him at any age, let alone as a baby," Carly stated. "It is hard to be a baby because you cannot remember anything," Mr. Benson stated. "I was born in 1993 and I did not remember any major milestones happening," Spencer stated. "I surprisingly do not have the winter blues," Max stated. "I remember the one summer where I asked people to donate money for my 18th birthday, and this was months before I turned 18." "I am wishing for spring to arrive," Justin stated. "I am, too," Alex agreed. "This year's seniors may be partially like you again for 6 months in the middle of the year just like last year," I explained. "It would be great if you guys could experience a repeat of your senior year, and I just met a number of them in the marching band through the alphabet game." Pretty soon, it was time for all of us to leave. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Good night, guys!" "Good night!"
