After finishing her work at the royal palace, Kyaru found herself walking around Landsol.
"Nothing against her majesty, but I really want to know what's up with her interest in Yuuki." Kyaru thought to herself. "It's all she could talk about earlier today."
Indeed Kaiser had shown more and more interest in Yuuki as the days passed, ordering Kyaru to keep tabs on the boy more and more often. Kyaru didn't quite understand it, but also didn't question it.
"Where the heck is Yuuki anyway? It's usually easy to spot him because he's always helping some girl out."
"Hey Kyaru."
Kyaru's tail stood up straight and she let out a yelp as Yuuki called her name.
"Ah! Yuuki?"
Yuuki responded by waving back at her with a smile.
"Geez, you make it a hobby of yours to go around surprising people?"
"Sorry. I didn't mean to scare you."
After sighing, Kyaru took a look at where Yuuki was. Yuuki was behind a stand that said "Magical items." Behind Yuuki was a shelf full of all types of magical items and other stuff adventurers could use to help them in defeating or defending themselves from monsters outside of Landsol.
"Let me guess, this is one of your part time jobs?"
Yuuki nodded.
"Man, this guy gets around." Kyaru thought to herself. She then took a look behind Yuuki at some of the stuff the stand was selling.
Nothing really caught her attention, except for a small colored purple rock.
"What's this? Kyaru said, picking up the rock.
"That's a magic stone that controls minds." Yuuki stated.
"A magic stone that controls minds?!" Kyaru said out loud, shocked at the find.
"This…I could really use something like this to help strengthen my powers as a princess knight, or have better control over monsters." she thought to herself. "I can already hear her majesty's words of praise over my ability to control not only small monsters, but big ones as well!"
Though it cost her a pretty penny, Kyaru bought the stone. As she was walking away from the stand, she overheard a conversation with Yuuki and his boss.
"Good job today Yuuki! I was hoping someone would buy one of our more expensive items. Anyway, I'm gonna close up shop, you go on ahead home now OK."
"Looks like his shift is over, now's my chance." Kyaru said.
"Yuuki. I need you to come with me for a bit." Kyaru said.
"What for?" Yuuki asked.
"I want to try out this mind controlling rock!"
Yuuki agreed to go along with Kyaru, and the two entered one of the caves in Landsol known for having monsters crawl around.
"Alright, this is perfect. I can try to use this on one of the monsters here and control them. You've seen my power before Yuuki, so I'm sure you should be able to tell if it has any effect."
As Kyaru was talking, a monster popped it's head out of one of the rocks, and started to growl.
"Perfect! You'll be the first monster I mind control!"
Kyaru lifted up her staff in one hand, and the rock in the other. Both items glowed.
"Fall under my spell, become my servant!" Kyaru said. Just then, Kyaru heard a cracking sound, and looked at her right hand where the rock was located. The purple rock was now shattered into pieces.
"W-w-what? WHAT!? How could the rock break that easily!?"
To make matters worse for Kyaru, the monster was coming closer to her. Judging by its hostile growls, the monster wasn't affected.
"Oh crap! Yuuki, do something!"
Without another word, Yuuki slashed the monster with his sword and defeated it.
"Thanks for that Yuuki."
"I am your servant. It's my duty to protect you." Yuuki said in a monotone voice. At first, Kyaru thought Yuuki was playing a prank on her, and was about to yell at him, but when she looked up, Yuuki's pupils were big.
"Yuuki? Are you under my spell?"
Yuuki didn't say anything, so Kyaru gave Yuuki a command.
"Yuuki! Pat my head."
"Yes master."
Yuuki approached Kyaru and started to pet her head softly. Kyaru then asked him to stop, which Yuuki did.
"This…this is amazing! I can not only control monsters, but people as well! And best of all, I'm controlling someone who her majesty is interested in! Amazing! I'm a genius!"
Before Kyaru got too carried away, she calmed down a bit and put her focus back on Yuuki. Now was her chance to get some information out of him.
"Alright, time to interrogate him. Hey Yuuki, why is her majesty after you?"
Yuuki didn't respond.
"Either he doesn't know, or he really doesn't remember." Kyaru said out loud. "Still, there's some other information I could get out of him."
One thing that Kyaru wanted to know was what Yuuki thought of all the girls he met and was hanging around.
"Whenever I spy on him, I see Yuuki hanging out with all these girls and helping them out. Maybe, there's someone he likes? Well, this is just to kill time after all. Hey Yuuki, do you…do"
Kyaru tried to get the rest of the words out, but she couldn't.
"Do you happen to…"
Kyaru sighed.
"Come on, this shouldn't be that difficult. Just ask him who he likes! At least…that's what I want to tell myself, but for some reason, hearing that he might like someone else doesn't sit right with me…"
To Kyaru, Yuuki was a nice person, especially to her, but that wasn't something she was looking for, at least something she could look for.
"I want to be with someone as nice as Yuuki, I really do, but…"
Before she got too upset, Kyaru slapped her face and asked Yuuki the question. What she didn't know at the time though, was that Yuuki was already out of her spell by the time that she asked it.
"Who do you like?" she asked, her face all red with tears welling up.
"What? What happened? I blacked out for a second there." Yuuki thought to himself. "Did I go into another dream?"
"Well? Who do you like!? Answer me servant!" Kyaru said, this time in a much louder voice.
Not sure of what was going on, Yuuki told Kyaru his answer.
"Everyone. I like everyone, including you Kyaru."
"W-w-what?" Kyaru said, both shocked and surprised.
"Everyone? That's who he likes!?" she thought to herself. Kyaru grabbed Yuuki by the collar and pulled him close.
"What do you mean everyone!? And More importantly what do you "including you Kyaru"?" Before Kyaru could go on, she noticed something: Yuuki's eyes were back to normal.
"Yuuki…" Kyaru let go of Yuuki, letting him fall to the ground. "He's not under my control anymore!?" she thought to herself, her face getting red.
At that moment, a monster had crept up behind Yuuki, getting ready to attack him. Before it could, however, Kyaru let out a spell, blasting the monster away from Yuuki.
"Thanks Kyaru. I didn't see that monster behind me."
"I wasn't aiming for the monster…"
"Eh?"
Kyaru slowly lifted up her head, looking very scary.
"I was aiming for you…" she said, before firing anther blast of magic, this time where Yuuki was. Not sure as to what set her off, Yuuki quickly ran away from Kyaru.
"Where do you think you're going? Get back here!" she said, continuing to fire off her magic.
Yuuki ran as fast as he could out of the cave and into the fields. More monsters noticed him, but didn't have the chance to attack him as Kyaru's blast continued. Yuuki could feel the heat from her blast on his back. After letting off one final blast, Yuuki hid behind a big rock.
Kyaru, tired and upset, fell to the ground exhausted.
"Damn it!" she said to herself. "Why Yuuki, why won't you just die? And…more importantly…"
Kyaru thought back to what Yuuki had said in the cave about liking everyone, including Kyaru.
"Why do you like me?"
