Part 1:
With the New Year right around the corner, everyone in Landsol was getting ready to welcome it with open arms. One of these people was Kyaru, who had quite an interesting year. Kyaru sat down on a bench, looking around at all the sites and sounds of the New Year's celebration, while also thinking to herself.
"This has been quite the year for me huh?" she thought to herself. Kyaru was wearing a purple Kimono, followed by her hair done up with 3 flowers in it. Memories of the time Kyaru confessed and made out with Yuuki came flooding back to her suddenly, causing her to blush bright red.
"Damn it Yuuki, ever since that night I've had you on my mind, even though I doubt you feel the same." she said in an annoyed tone. She was also flustered and frustrated by the incident that happened not too long ago where she had fallen asleep in Yuuki's bed alongside Ranpha.
"Speaking of Yuuki…where the heck is he?"
Kyaru's question would soon be answered as she saw Yuuki carrying a bag of mail around with him.
"Figures…he's doing work…"
In spite of this, Kyaru still decided to approach Yuuki to see exactly what he was up to.
"Hey Yuuki."
"Oh, hey Kyaru."
"Even on New Year's eve you're out doing work for somebody…"
"Yeah, I'm helping deliver New Year's cards." he said with a chuckle.
"I see…that's quite the load you got there…"
Upon closer inspection, Yuuki's bag was full to the brim of New Year's Eve cards.
"Are you sure you're OK with carrying all that?" Kyaru asked with concern.
"It's a bit heavy, but the bag will get less burdensome once I start delivering."
"Well, how about this?"
Kyaru reached into Yuuki's bag and took a handful of cards out.
"I'm going to help you deliver some of these cards."
"Oh, thank you."
Before Yuuki could tell Kyaru that she didn't have to do it if she didn't want to, Kyaru went off on her own.
"Well then, let me get to work." Yuuki said after watching Kyaru walk off into town.
Part 2:
Kyaru and Yuuki both sat down at a bench, exhausted after their trip around town delivering New Year's cards to everyone.
"I really don't know how you do all of this…" Kyaru said, letting out a sigh. "Everytime you're not with us you're off doing some other job…or off on some sort of adventure with other girls."
Yuuki didn't try to deny that last part. Most of his adventures did involve the many women he'd known from Landsol.
"Well, now that that's done, we can have some fun."
"We?" Kyaru said.
"Yeah, if it's alright of course, I'd like to do some of the New Year activities with you. To make up for dragging you into doing the job."
"There you go again with this "dragging me into job" stuff. It's fine Yuuki, we both split the pay you got and besides that, I was hoping to spend New Year's with you anyway." Kyaru immediately covered her mouth after saying that. Even though she made her feelings crystal clear to Yuuki on their desert adventure, she still felt embarrassed saying stuff like that in public.
"I see…" Yuuki said, blushing somewhat as well. Before things could get awkward, Yuuki got up from the bench and pointed out a New Year's lottery stand.
"Why don't we try our luck at one of those?" Yuuki asked.
"A New Year's lottery huh? Well, the grimoires I bought did come with a lottery ticket. Just don't get your hopes up. I doubt we're going to win anything special."
"Still worth a shot." Yuuki said with a smile.
The two went up to the merchant and handed him a ticket. The merchant of the stand rolled a small round cage that had little white balls in it. After a couple of turns, the cage finally spit out a ball. The merchant picked it up and inspected it.
"Congratulations, you won!"
"W-wait? Really? We won something?" Kyaru said, taken back by this sudden news.
"Yes! You've won 3 months of tasty Mochi! A beauty product made from top of the line rice and carefully put together!" the man said. Kyaru's face dropped when she heard what she had won.
"3 months of Mochi? What the heck am I supposed to do with that?"
Yuuki shrugged his shoulders.
"Well…whatever, I'll accept the prize." Kyaru said with a sigh of defeat.
"Excellent! The prize will be delivered at a later date. Look forward to it then!"
"Well, it may not have been what I wanted, but a prize is a prize." Kyaru said as she and Yuuki were starting to walk away from the man.
"That's one way to look at it. I know I've personally never won a prize before."
"Really?"
"Yeah. I mean I've had friends who have won prizes to places and invited me to go with them, but I never won anything like a gift or a chance to go somewhere."
"I can't help but find that hard to believe. You seem to have a good amount of luck…especially when it comes to women."
Yuuki let out a nervous laugh and scratched the back of his head. Just then, the two heard a man shouting something at them.
"There's one more left! It's the New Year's only grab bags! Come and get your grab bag and see what prizes are inside!"
"You hear that Yuuki? There's one more left! Let's get over there before they run out!"
The duo headed over to the man to grab the last bag.
"I'd like the last New Year's grab bag please!" Kyaru said, handing him the money. The man looked a bit confused however, which in turn made Kyaru confused.
"What? What's the problem?"
That's when the man pointed to the girl that was standing behind her and Yuuki. The small girl looked up to the two innocently.
"Um…I wanted that bag." she said.
"Sorry kid, but I saw it first." Kyaru said. The girl still looked at the two, her eyes now starting to water up.
"Uh Kyaru…I think it's best if we just let the kid get the last grab bag."
"Why? We saw it first!"
"Yeah…but she's gonna cry if we don't give it to her. I don't want to make a little kid cry."
Kyaru sighed and stepped out of the way, allowing the little girl to buy the grab bag with her own money.
"Thank you so much nice lady, if it's alright, I'd like to open up the bag with you."
"With me?"
The little girl nodded. "It's the least I could do in return, since you were nice enough to let me buy it."
"Alright then…let's see what's inside."
The two opened up the bag to find…trash. Inside the bag was not a prize but a broken yoyo, and some pieces of wrapping paper.
"W-what?" the little girl said, confused and upset.
"This…this can't be right. Maybe there's some sort of mix up here."
Yuuki was about to ask the man who handed them the bag if they could get another, but he saw the man running off in the other direction.
"Hey! Come back here!" Yuuki shouted, before running after him.
"You stay here, we're going to go get your money back." Kyaru said to the little girl before running behind Yuuki. In spite of this, the little girl followed behind, wanting to see Yuuki and Kyaru get the bad guy.
Part 3:
"Oh man! That was too easy…" the man said to himself. The con merchant sat up against a tree, looking at the money he had gotten from the little girl.
"I was worried those two were screw it up for me, but I was still able to get her money! Now I just need to get out of town before they figure out I conned them.
"A little too late to do that now buddy…"
Yuuki pulled out his sword on the man and pointed it at him.
"W-what? What are you two doing here?"
"We came for the girl's money…" Yuuki said.
"Well too bad, I'm not giving it back to her!"
"Well then…I guess we're just gonna have to use force…" Kyaru said, finally catching up to Yuuki.
"Yuuki, power me up!"
Yuuki closed his eyes and raised his sword, his body glowed, and along with him Kyaru did too.
"I don't know what's going on, but I'm not sticking around to find out!" the man said, making a run for it. It was too late for him however, as Kyaru blasted a dark magic ball at him, knocking the air right out of him.
"Gah!"
The man collapsed on the ground, knocked out.
"Man…I've dealt with small monsters that put up more of a fight…talk about a pushover."
"Oh wow! That was amazing!" the little girl said.
"W-what? Little girl, what are you doing here?"
"I'm sorry, I just wanted to see you take out the bad guy and get my money back."
"I understand…but I'd prefer if you stayed back in town. You could have gotten hurt."
"I'm sorry…" the girl said shyly. Yuuki gave her her money back and patted her on the head.
"There you go." he said with a smile.
"Thanks!" the girl said. The girl started to walk in the other direction back to town, but before she did, she turned around and called out to Kyaru.
"Oh, lady?"
"Yes, what is it?" Kyaru said, sounding somewhat annoyed.
"I hope one day to grow up and be as cool as you. That energy ball you shot at the man was amazing!"
"W-what? I mean…it was nothing…and why would you want to grow up to be like me anyway?"
"I don't know Kyaru, in my opinion you're pretty cool."
"You better not be saying this just to get me to blush Yuuki!" Kyaru said, pointing his fan at Yuuki.
"No, no, I'm not trying to do that. Just telling the truth…"
Kyaru let out a sigh, her cheeks red from the compliment from both Yuuki and the girl. She grabbed Yuuki's hand and the two quickly headed back to town to notify the authorities of the scam artist.
Part 4:
After watching the authorities take away the scam artist, Yuuki and Kyaru found themselves sitting on a bench once more.
"I'm glad we were able to capture that scam artist." Kyaru said.
"Yeah…it annoys me that people would try and pull something like that on a holiday though, and to a little kid no less."
"Well…now what?" Kyaru asked Yuuki. "Should we head back to the guildhouse?"
"I wouldn't mind that, though I'd like to catch the fireworks show."
"Fireworks show?"
Yuuki nodded and explained to Kyaru that there was going to be a New Years Day firework show later that night.
"What time does it start?"
"It should start at 8."
"Alright, well how about this, we head back to the guildhouse and rest for a bit, then head back out to see the firework show with everyone else. Does that sound good?"
Yuuki nodded and gave his signature thumbs up. With that, the two headed back to the guildhouse. Once at home, Kyaru rested on the couch in the living room of the guildhouse. Yuuki plopped himself down right next to her.
The two were alone once more, with their only companion a note on the table from Kokkoro stating that she, Shefi and Ranpha were going to the shrine.
"Looks like it's just us still…" Yuuki stated.
Memories came flooding back from the last time Yuuki and Kyaru were alone. That's when Kyaru asked a question she wished she asked Yuuki sooner, though for some reason hadn't.
"Say Yuuki? What did you think when I kissed you back then?"
Yuuki sat there and thought for a moment, much to Kyaru's annoyance and concern. Finally, Yuuki gave an answer.
"I wouldn't mind dating you Kyaru…only problem is I don't know much about dating, and I don't want to break your heart." Yuuki said. Kyaru couldn't be mad at Yuuki for that answer. He was honest, more honest than she expected, and it was true that Yuuki probably wouldn't know too much about dating thanks to his amnesia.
"I see…so, you do like me then…"
"Like I told you before, I like everyone. I know that answer isn't the best, but it's true. I've made a lot of friends here in Landsol, from Idols to vampires and so on. All of them had helped me out in one way or another, and I tried to return the favor."
"I see…I still find it odd that you're so popular with girls."
Yuuki scratched the back of his head nervously.
"Though, I want to make one thing clear to you…" Kyaru said before grabbing Yuuki's shoulders firmly.
"Even if you don't return the feelings back, I love you Yuuki…" she said before kissing him on the lips. Much to her surprise, Yuuki kissed her back, even wrapping his arms around her. After their mouths partied, Kyaru still kept her face close to Yuuki's, looking him directly in the eyes.
"You're…not a bad kisser…"
"T-thanks…" Yuuki said, his face now bright red. This took Kyaru by surprise as she had never seen Yuuki's face that red before, not even when she first kissed him back in the desert. Kyaru was about to go in for another kiss, but jumped back as she heard someone at the door. In came Kokkoro, Shefi, and Ranpha.
"Oh, hello my lord. Did you see the note I left behind?"
"Yeah. I bumped into Kyaru during work and she helped me deliver New Year's letter."
"I appreciate you helping out my lord Kyaru." Kokkoro started with a smile.
"It was nothing…" Kyaru said, trying to keep up the tsundere act by looking away and crossing her arms.
Later that night, the gang headed out to watch the fireworks show, with all of them watching on top of a hill. Kyaru sat next to Yuuki, still thinking of what happened earlier that day between them.
"I don't want to ruin my friendship with Yuuki or anyone else in the guild…" she thought to herself while looking at Yuuki. "But out of all the girls he knows…I'd like to be the one."
Kyaru quietly placed her hand over Yuuki's, and kept it there until the end of the firework show…
