gammaxmen80 - as he said, Lothal still needs help. Besides, they barely have room for Peter. Adding in two others would be too much. If they ever need them, they know where to find them.
Back in their home universe, Nebula and Tony had long left Titan and were inside the Guardians ship playing paper football. Nebula, frustrated, put her hands in a fighting stance while looking at Tony as he tried to shoot a score.
"You don't need to do that." Tony did his best to explain how this works. "Because uh... you're just holding position. Nebula flicks a paper football toward Tony. "Oh yeah, that was close." Nebula once again flicks a paper football toward Tony. "That's a goal. We're now one apiece." Tony tries his best to explain how it works to her.
"I would like to try again." Nebula flicks a paper football toward Tony and gets a goal.
"We're tied up." Tony was happy to tell her. "Feel the tension? It's fun."
Tony purposefully poorly flicks a paper football toward Nebula on purpose to allow her to have this game.
"That was terrible," Tony admitted to her. "Now you have a chance to win."
Nebula flicks the paper football toward Tony and managed to make the goal.
"And... you've won," Tony said as he then reaches his hand out to shake Nebula's hand. "Congratulations."
Nebula wasn't used to winning and wasn't sure what to make of what happens next. Over the years, she would constantly lose to her sister, and her father would constantly try and correct it.
"Fair game. Good sport." Tony explains as Nebula shakes Tony's hand. "Have fun?"
"It was fun." Nebula decided to go with it as a response.
Then later on Tony goes to the front of the ship to see his Iron Man busted helmet. Tony's hand reaches forward to turn on the helmet. We pan out to see that he's sitting on the floor of a gloomy Benatar. The weight of the recent events of what happened on Titan is evident in Tony's posture. He taps the helmet with a sigh.
"This thing on?" Tony asks as the helmet scans Tony. Tony leans against the wall while taking deep breaths. He looks skinnier and weak with malnutrition. "Hey, Miss Potts... Pep. If you find this recording, don't post it on social media. It's gonna be a real tear-jerker. I don't know if you're ever going to see these. I don't even know if you're... if you're still... Oh god, I hope so. Today is day 21, uh 22."
Tony standing at a window staring out into space, waiting for his impending doom to arrive.
"You know, if it wasn't for the existential terror of staring into a void of space, I'd say I'm feeling better today. The infection's run its course, Thanks to the blue meanie back there."
Nebula is sitting in the back of the Benatar.
"You'd love her. Very practical. Only a tiny bit sadistic. Some fuel cells were cracked during battle, but we figured out a way to reverse the ion charge to buy ourselves about 48 hours of time."
Tony and Nebula working on the fuel cells of the Benatar.
"But it's now dead in the water. We're 1000 light years from the nearest 7-11. Oxygen will run out tomorrow. And that'll be it. And Pep, I ... I know I said no more surprises, but I was really hoping to pull off one last one. But it looks like... well you know what it looks like. Don't feel bad about this. I mean, if you grovel for a couple of weeks, and then move on with enormous guilt. I should probably lie down. Please know that... when I drift off, I will think about you. Because it's always you."
With that, Tony turns the helmet off. He rubs his thumb over his left eye, then leans down to what would be his last sleep. Nebula walks over to him, carries him to Drax's seat, and laid him there. She walks away dejected.
A vast bluish nebula illuminates the space surrounding them. Tony's face, for the first time, shows age and weakness. There is a light on his face, which grows brighter and brighter until he's forced to open his eyes. The light source begins to calm down and is slowly revealed to be Carol Danvers.
Broken.
That was all that Wanda felt right now.
She lost her home. She lost the fight. She murdered the man that she loved.
Killing Vision was supposed to mean victory for them in their fight against Thanos. But all it did was allow her the chance to kill the man she loved in cold blood. She was the reason that Thanos won. The reason Vision was dead.
Now she was rescued from the wasteland of a planet where she was revived by a mysterious figure who didn't seem to fear her. Even though she killed a squadron of men out of anger for yelling at her. She wanted time to mourn what had happened, didn't want to be rescued but appreciated the help.
She was in a room on her own, given a meal of something she wasn't entirely sure as to what. But it was editable and she hadn't eaten much since Scotland before the fight between Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight. That feels like a lifetime ago, yet it was just about a week ago.
The ship she was on was taking her somewhere so that she can meet someone. She didn't know precisely where, but she heard a few mentions of a planet named Coruscant to meet someone. She wasn't sure who exactly, but she had to guess it was the leader of these people.
If any of them tried anything that she didn't like, then she could easily take care of them with her powers. Which was more than enough to tear apart this entire vessel if she was in the right mood.
Back in the Ghost, Peter was finally getting some headway with the suit and trying to get into the system. Disabling the training wheels protocol for much harder than when Ned did it. Tony seriously learned from his mistake with his friend's capability to hack it. Bet if he knew that Peter would have been sent to a literal galaxy at war, he wouldn't have placed such heavy firewalls against it. Most of these weapons and gadgets would be much helpful in this war.
Kanan and Ezra were currently on the roof and were working on their Jedi training. Chopper and Zeb were joining them as Kanan put it...help. What kind of help, Peter couldn't begin to imagine. But he wasn't exactly an expert in Jedi training, so he digresses.
"This thing is stacked," Sabine commented as they were able to at least get the list of what the suit is holding. "An artificial intelligence inside the suit, backup supply of your web-fluid...cloaking! You can wear this thing in space. Even first aid and jamming protectors."
"Yeah, learned that back when I was pulled out of Earth's atmosphere," Peter commented on the bad encounter with almost dying in space. "Not exactly something that I wanna repeat."
"I can understand why," Sabine said.
Peter's senses then suddenly went off, causing him to look around the room and reacted. "Grab onto something."
"Why?" Sabine wonders.
But before she can ask, the ship made a sudden turn and went downward, causing Sabine to shriek and grab onto Peter. Peter used his powers to hold onto the wall and floor, the Iron Spider retreating into the suit holder as the ship kept going downward. Then there was a sudden stop that sent the two rolling around.
What they didn't know was that the training didn't exactly go well as it ended with Ezra taking a drop. This in turn causes Hera to need to drop the ship so Kanan can save him. Opening the hatch and using the Force to catch him, Kanan dragged Ezra back into the ship safely.
Peter groaned as he ended up being smashed against the ground, as well as tackled by Sabine due to the sudden change of momentum in the fall. Sabine realized where she was and quickly jumped off of the Avenger and blushed a little at the action.
"You okay?" Sabine asks him.
"Don't worry, you're one of the lighter things I've been crushed with." Peter tried to joke his way out, hiding his blush from the action.
As Peter and Sabine approached the group when exiting the room, they saw the angered looks on both the master and apprentice.
"So, how'd training go today?" Peter tried to ask cheerfully.
Ezra didn't answer but the Jedi survivor did. "He wasn't focused."
"Yeah, it was tough to focus when I was falling to my death!" Ezra replied in anger.
Peter blinked as he simply looked at Sabine and saw the same loom of shock on her face. "Okay... sensitive topic. We'll let you discuss this, and Sabine and I will go back to figuring out how to get Karen into the suit."
They walked past as they needed to grab the original suit he wore under the Iron Spider until he got some of this galaxy's clothing. He then stepped side the two Jedi as Sabine giggled at Peter's reaction to the situation. As the two entered the cargo, Kanan grabbed Ezra's arm and made him face him.
"You wouldn't have been falling to your death if you were focused," Kanan informed the boy. "You're undisciplined and full of self-doubt."
"And whose fault is that, Master?" The Lothal native shoved him off.
Kanan sighed before admitting, "It's difficult to teach."
He then walked off as Zeb walked over and pushed Ezra. "He means it's difficult to teach you."
"Okay, beginning test one," Peter said to himself as he finished hooking up his first suit to Sabine's Holopad in her room. He pushed the button beginning the upload. Just then, Ezra entered the room, Peter turned to expect Sabine and was surprised to see him. "So, tough first day at Jedi school?"
"Something like that, yeah," Ezra admitted as he leaned on the doorway.
"It was just your first day." Peter shrugged. "I bet you'll get better over time. I didn't exactly have a teacher."
"You didn't?" Ezra was surprised to hear.
"I had a mentor...but not a teacher," Peter explains it the best he could. "There weren't many people who were bitten by radioactive spiders. I had to learn from scratch, how to make the web fluid, and learn to control my powers...you have a teacher willing to help you with your gift. Don't waste it."
Ezra saw he had a good point there and shrugged. "I understand what you're saying."
"Good." Peter smiled and was happy to have helped him. "I gotta stop for a second." He stood and wiped his hands. "Sabine just needs to upload the firewall breakdown when she finishes her part. Maybe that'll break a few firewalls down, give me access to a few of its capabilities."
Just then, Hera called to the crew, "Peter. Ezra. You made the Holonet."
Peter blinked at what she said and was confused. "You guys have news?"
Ezra stared at the New Yorker with a smile. "This we've got to see."
With that, the two of them ran off the Mandalorian's room she just reached the doorway and shook her head in amusement. "Boys..."
She then walked into the room and saw that he was able to break down far enough that they had access to the recordings. A handful of recordings, random moments from the software of both suits.
Wondering what it recorded, she went over what they had access to and opened a file.
What she saw was Peter wearing the mask of his older suit and looking into a mirror. "Hey, guys, what's up? Yeah, kick-ass party. Hey. What's up, Liz? Peter's told me a lot about you."
Sabine didn't know what to think of that recording and just ended up chuckling. Jumping to the next file, she saw he was back in the bedroom with what looked to be a wooden hammer.
"It is I, Thor, son of Odin!" Peter cried out, raising the hammer and shaking it around. He then started to flex his (lack of) muscles.
Sabine couldn't help but laugh at what she was watching. "Okay...I gotta save a few of these for later."
Hera turned on the footage, revealing an image of a TIE fighter as the others joined them in the main living quarters. "The stolen TIE fighter was later used to attack a transport full of innocent workers."
Zeb growled in anger as everyone in the room knew that the Empire was twisting the truth. "You liar! We set them free!"
"There had been unconfirmed reports that the vigilante known as Spider-Man and the newly surfaced Black Panther was also reported on the scene. While some view them as heroes bringing many criminals of Lothal to justice, many see the Panther as a rebel and very well could have been involved in the attack." An image of Spider-Man and Black Panther fighting a small criminal gang appeared on top of the shuttle. Then the image flickered for a moment.
"Um... are we getting a bad connection or...?" Peter was a bit confused about what was happening.
Just then, the image changed to an image of a man, dressed like an important figure appeared, as a muffled voice spoke through. "Citizens, this is Senator-in-Exile Gall Trayvis. I bring more news the Empire doesn't want you to hear."
Peter looked in confusion. "Uh... who's Gall Trayvis?"
Ezra shrugged as he's never heard of him. "First time I'm hearing about him."
"He's the only member of the Imperial Senate with the courage to speak out publicly against the Empire," Hera explained to the two new members of the crew.
It was nice to know that they weren't the only ones going after the Empire. Just then, the image change to show a Mirialan prisoner escorted by two Stormtroopers. The revelation caused Kanan's eyes to widen as the Senator-in-Exile continued.
"One of the Republic's greatest peacekeepers, Jedi Master Luminara Unduli, is alive. She has been imprisoned unlawfully somewhere in the Stygeon system. As citizens, we demand the Emperor produce Master Unduli and grant her a fair trial before the entire Sen marking another successful planetary liberation, utilizing the Base Delta Zero initiative."
Ezra turned to Jedi Survivor. "This Luminara, you knew her?"
"I met her. Once. She was a great Jedi Master, brave, compassionate, disciplined," Kanan answered before slowly smiling at Ezra, "In fact, she'd make an excellent teacher for you. There've always been rumors she survived the Clone Wars, but they never came with a specific location before."
Peter smiled as he saw what this meant. "So...does this mean a rescue mission?"
"Yep," Kanan confirmed with the hero, "We can't pass this up."
"Was hoping you'd say that," Hera smiled as she turned off the Holonet, "I'll set course for the Stygeon system."
Hera left to start up the ship as Kanan looked to the rest of the crew, "The rest of you, prep for an op."
"I'll inform Sabine," Peter said as he walked off to find where she disappeared to. When he made his way back to the Mandalorian's room and found she was watching the recordings. "Huh..."
"I put everything in your suit. Including this heater." Tony informed Peter from the recording.
That was the first time he's heard Tony's voice in the last few weeks. He wondered how Tony was doing. Last he saw, Tony was stuck on that planet and obviously wasn't past due to half of the team being dusted. He survived. Thinking that he was dead. If only he could get a message out to the surviving Avengers. Tell them where they are. That they survived. Maybe Tony could even find a way to get them home from their side.
The only other thing they could do is find out how to get the Infinity Stones back from Thanos. But the odds of that happening and living were close to zero.
"Enjoying my greatest hits?" Peter asked, causing the Mandalorian to jump and turn to face him. "It's fine. Bound to find the Baby Monitor Protocol sooner or later."
"Baby Monitor Protocol?" Sabine questioned.
Peter shrugged and knew that was coming. "I didn't name it. How far did you watch?"
"Just some random moments that were unlocked." Sabine shrugged and stopped the recordings. "What'd I miss?"
"We're going to head out on a rescue mission for a Jedi from the Clone Wars," Peter said as he walked over and got his suit container back. "We'll have to continue this later."
"Got it," Sabine said as she packed her stuff to continue later. But she couldn't keep out what she witnessed between Peter and Tony on the recordings. "That Tony Stark guy, you two seemed close."
"He was my mentor. My personal hero." Peter explains as he laid back on the wall. "And was also my favorite Avenger before I became one."
"So, is like becoming an Avenger the highest achievement in your world?" Sabine wonders.
"Well, the Avengers were known as the Last Line of Defense. Earth's Mightiest heroes." Peter recalled what their nicknames were. "It's an honor to become one. So I guess in a way, you could say that."
"Well, let's see what that rank comes with, Avenger," Sabine said as they both left the room.
As the Ghost flew through hyperspace, the Ghost Crew were all together in the cockpit. From there, Hera pulled up an image of the prison that contained the Jedi Master. Sabine, being a former Imperial herself, was in charge of finding a way in.
"Welcome to the Spire on Stygeon Prime, the only Imperial detainment facility in the Stygeon system. And it's impregnable." Sabine informed the group.
Peter shrugged, not looking impressed. "That's what they said about Damage Control. And I got in by accident."
Kanan nodded in agreement. "Besides, that never stopped us before."
"Trust me, we have never faced anything like this. It's a real work of art," Sabine chuckled before counting out all the strengths of the prison with her fingers. "Blast proof, ray shielded, protected by anti-ship weapons, TIE fighters, and short and long-range scanners."
"We can fool the scanners," Hera reassured her.
"Uh, maybe," Sabine shrugged, "But that just leaves an army of troopers and guard posts on all the walls. Look, even if we get into this beauty, the hard part's getting out. 'Cause, you know, it's a prison."
"What about going in low and sneaking onto this landing platform?" Ezra offered as a suggestion.
"Mmm-mmm," The Mandalorian shook her head, "Platform has a heavy trooper presence and reinforced blast doors. Impossible to get in or out that way."
"Heard that before," Peter commented. "Never experienced it firsthand, but have heard it before."
Kanan's eyes narrowed before spotting an opening they could take. "Here. There's only room for a couple of guards. We take them down, make our way to the upper-level isolation cells, free Luminara, and come back out the way we came in."
Chopper then grumbled in response.
"Yeah. You'd have to be crazy to try that lousy plan." Sabine commented.
"Let's hope the Empire thinks so too." Kanan joked with a smile.
Just then, their ship exited hyperspace as they approached the planet below with the prison. Hera gathered most of the crew on the Phantom, while Chopper remained on the ship to pilot the Ghost. As the droid complained aboard the main ship, Zeb took the comm and replied back.
"I'm sorry, Chop. We just don't need your damaged logic circuits on this one." Zeb mocked the droid.
They could hear Chopper respond with angry grumbles.
However, the Phantom took off from the Ghost as they flew down to where the Imperial prison. The droid watched them from within the ship as the others were dealing with the turbulence of the fall.
Then they spotted the entrance that Kanan pointed out. It was currently guarded by only two Stormtroopers and it didn't seem to be anyone else around.
"Thirty seconds," Hera warned the group. "Good luck."
"Luck?" Zeb stared at her before scoffing. "We're gonna need a miracle."
Sabine then pulled out three grenades and offered them to her teammates. "Here are three."
Both Zeb and Ezra took one for themselves, Sabine then offered one to Peter, who politely declined. "No thanks. Not a fan of explosives."
This may be a universe at war with itself, but Peter was sticking to his guns with the fact he'd never take a life.
Kanan turned to Ezra and told him, "Try to stay focused."
Ezra turned away from his detonator to glare at Kanan, "I thought there was no 'try.'"
Once, they were close to the platform, Hera opened the hatch doors. Spider-Man and Kanan jumped in to engage the two Stormtroopers on guard. With quick and swift punches they disarmed the troopers and defeated each of the Troopers. Ezra was impressed by Kanan's actions, hoping to redeem himself, Zeb took notice and tried to stop him, "Kid, wait! What are you doing?!"
Ezra then jumped to the ramp as Kanan observed their work before turning to Spider-Man as he gave him a thumbs up, "Nice, and quiet like."
Spider-Man returned the thumbs up when they notice Ezra coming in for a landing. Although, his landing was a bit rough and loud as he tumbled before hitting the door causing both Jedi and Avenger to wince. Ezra's eyes widened as he quickly recovered and slowly backed away from the entrance. Peter and Kanan prepared for any squad of Stormtroopers that would come out and sound the alarm. Thankfully, none ever came as Peter whispered to them, "I don't think anyone heard that."
Ezra sighed in relief as Kanan quietly scolded him, "What just happened?! You were supposed to exit with Zeb!" The Jedi crossed his arms, "You're lucky every Stormtrooper in the prison doesn't know we're here."
Just then, Peter's sixth sense started tingling as his eyes widened, "Guys... we've got company..."
Kanan and Ezra turned on alert as the door slid open and four Stormtroopers walked out. Shocked to see them, they quickly aimed their weapons. Spider-Man shot out webbing to clog their blasters before Kanan used the Force to rip their weapons out of their hands and throw them aside.
Just then, Zeb and Sabine joined them for backup. Peter easily leaped in and kicked two troopers off the ramp before using two web lines to stop their fall. One of the Stormtroopers tried attacking their backup, but both Were easily thrown aside by the Mandalorian and the Lassat. Spider-Man caught them with his webbing before they could fall to their doom. Sabine gave Peter a nod before Kanan turned his attention back to Ezra.
"Stunts like that put us all in jeopardy. That is exactly why you need Master Luminara to teach you discipline." Kanan tells him.
Ezra spoke in his defense, "I was just following your example."
"Yeah?" Kanan raised an eyebrow, "Well, try to stay focused and follow the plan instead."
Peter then got Kanan's attention by placing a hand on his shoulder, "Okay, how about we focus on the rescue mission now, critically review later."
"He's right," Sabine nodded in agreement before pointing out, "Besides, we need the kid to unlock the door."
Not wanting to waste any more time, Ezra ran up to the door, "I got it."
He then quickly pulled out a device and used it to start hacking the door using the droid panel. Kanan was beginning to lose patience, "Ezra."
"Quiet," The young Force Sensitive shushed his current Master, "I'm focusing."
With a few more turns with his makeshift key, the door slid open as Zeb and Peter placed two unconscious Troopers by the door's sides to make it look like they were still guarding it. The team quickly ran inside, while Hera waited on the Phantom below them for pick up. To remain hidden she shut off most of the power except for the signal jammer. Then the Rebels made their way through the prison.
Ezra spoke up to the group, "You're welcome."
Zeb lightly smacked the Padawan in the head causing him to wince in pain, "Ow!"
"You did your job," Zeb told the youngest member of the crew, "You want a medal?"
"Luminara's here," Kanan spoke up getting everyone's attention, "I sense her presence, but it's clouded."
"What does that mean?" Peter asks.
"Not sure," Kanan admitted before becoming worried, "But for now, we stick to the plan." He then turned to Sabine, "Where's Master Unduli?"
Sabine ran up to one of the terminals and did a quick search. A minute later, she answered where she was. "Detention block CC-01. Isolation cell 0169."
Kanan raised a brow in confusion. "They have isolation cells on the lower levels?"
"We planned off outdated schematics," Sabine explained to them.
"I'm assuming this means we're changing the plan?" Peter took a wild guess, seeing this is something that happened to the Avengers a lot. And even to him a few times.
"You assume correctly," Kanan confirmed.
"You got a backup plan?" Zeb asks their Jedi leader.
"Figuring one out right now," Kanan admitted before accessing the elevator, "Zeb, Sabine, Spidey, you're coming along."
As everyone entered the Elevator, Zeb was a bit confused as to what the plan was. "Weren't we supposed to hold our escape route here?"
"Now the turbo lift is our escape route," Kanan stated before telling the group, "Let's go."
They then entered the elevator and started to wait for it to make it to the level they need. The silence of the shaft was killing Peter as he started to hum a catchy song some band he heard made up about him.
"Spectacular, spectacular Spider-Man." Peter hummed as he noticed the group looking at him. "Sorry. It's just catchy."
"You have a song about yourself?" Sabine asks in confusion.
"I didn't write it, some group in the park did," Peter explains. "It was just some thank you for saving their lives."
Sabine shrugged and decided to leave it and change the subject. "Kanan's plans get worse all the time."
Zeb nodded in agreement with her. "Just hope he doesn't change it again."
"Knowing my luck with plans, it's probably going to change again," Peter added to the two and crossed his arms.
Kanan frowned as he looked back to the trio. "I'm standing right here."
"We know." They all assured him.
Meanwhile, back at the entrance, Hera waited for the rest of the Ghost Crews' to return. Hopefully with a certain Jedi prisoner with them. Just then, her own scanners picked up something, "Uh-oh! Company!"
Could it be a TIE fighter? It was certainly large enough to be one. Something wasn't right though. The jammers should have prevented the Empire from knowing she was here. Even if Spider-Man was causing a distraction.
However, she saw several creatures fly above her, and just then one of them was close enough to the Phantom to get a good look, making the Captain of the Ghost gasp, "Whoa! Okay, you are not a TIE Fighter!"
That was the good news anyways, as they haven't been caught by the Empire. Bad news, the creatures started closing in. Close enough to start ramming into her, her eyes narrowed in anger, "Hey! Watch it, buddy!"
However, they only continued running into the Phantom, Hera looked at the jammer making her eyes widen as she began to realize why this was happening, "Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no! Sabine's jammer is operating on the same frequency as these creatures. It's sending out a..." She looked at one of the creatures as it gave the small ship an 'I want you' look, "...mating call?"
As the creatures continued ramming into the ship, the Phantom was beginning to lose hold of the wall. Realizing this was going to be a problem, she started up the ship, "You lovebirds are attracting too much attention."
As the Phantom took off, the creatures chased after her. She was really glad Peter wasn't here to see this. If he ever found out how this happened, he'd never let it go.
"Hope I'm not needed anytime soon."
On the level holding the Jedi master, Kanan dispatched the two Troopers by the elevator, he then proceeded to instruct Sabine, Peter, and Zeb, "Maintain comm silence. And whatever you do, hold this lift."
They nodded as two more Troopers approached the group of Rebels. One of the Troopers ordered, "Hey, you! Stop!"
Not wasting any time, Kanan Force pulled the enemy to him before knocking him out. As Sabine and Zeb hid the unconscious bodies in the elevator, Ezra noticed how much he isn't playing.
"You're really not messing around tonight," Ezra commented.
"There's a lot more at stake than you realize," Kanan told the boy.
That's when Peter's senses went off and he noticed there was a Stormtrooper nearby. Before he could react, he heard in on his conversation he called in. "Spider-Man is here! Dispatch every trooper we can!"
"Oh, great." Peter sighed as he shot out a ricochet web, allowing it to smack the trooper down the corner. "The base knows I'm here now."
"Oh, great, why do I have a feeling the plan is gonna change again?" Zeb asks.
"Because it is." Peter sighed and looked down the hall. "It's time to do what I do best."
"What's that?" Sabine asked as Peter ran down the other end of the hallway.
"Attract a lot of unwanted attention!" Peter cried as he ran down the hall the Stormtrooper came from. He immediately came across several different troopers heading to aid their fellow troop. "Hey, guys, look! It's a bird!"
"Spider-Man!" A Stormtrooper down the corner cried as he aimed at the hero.
"Ah, one of these days that's gonna work!" Peter proclaimed as the others watched as there was a few flashes of blaster fire. "Just wished it worked today."
"He might be from another world. He may have proved he's from another world. But he has never proved that he is not crazy." Zeb stated to the team as they had to all nod in agreement.
"Don't step there!" Peter proclaimed from afar.
"Gah!" A Stormtrooper cried in agony.
"I warned you!" Peter stated before they heard the sound of crushed armor. "But nobody listens to the man in the mask!"
With most of the troopers busy, the Master and Apprentice then made their way to the cell that held the Jedi Master. Sabine and Zeb were waiting in the elevator as they were asked to hold it. At the cell, two Stormtroopers stood on guard as one of them was a bit curious about the prisoner.
"Ever seen this Jedi Master?" The one on the left asks.
"Don't have the clearance." The one on the right responded.
Kanan slowly approached the troopers as he waved his hand with the Force. "Shouldn't you be guarding the Jedi's cell? It's on the next level."
One of the Stormtroopers repeated, "It's on the next level..."
Kanan smirked as he still had the old Jedi Mind Trick. He waved his hand again, "You better get moving."
"We better get moving," The other Stormtrooper repeated as they headed towards the next level where Spider-Man was.
Ezra turned to Kanan, impressed at what just happened, the Padawan asked, "When do I learn that?"
"Luminara will teach you..." Kanan assured him. "...much better than I could."
Back where Peter was, he was tripping a Stormtrooper that was charging at him before webbing him down. Peter had been fighting Stormtrooper after Stormtrooper, defeating them with ease. He didn't even need to pull out the legs or the extra gadgets and chuckled, wiping his hands off one another.
"All too easy," Peter said with a smile under the mask. "Anyone else?"
He then sensed something off and looked around, trying to find where it was coming from. This time, his Spider-senses didn't feel like themselves. He felt like something was going to happen. Something bad. Just like when he was in the crashed ship on Titan.
"Oh, no...it's a trap!" Peter cried as he raced off, only to be stopped by a dozen troopers running through the doors. He quickly leaped onto the ceiling to try and block the attacks and activated his arms to take some of the hits and shield himself. "Come on, where were you guys earlier? Waiting for your time to spawn on?!"
Shooting webs out of his arms whilst the arms shielded him, he yanked a few of their weapons away and knocked a few of them on the head. Trying out something he saw Puss in Boots do, he leaped on their heads and ran across the helmets.
Back with Kanan and Ezra, they approached the Jedi Master, sitting in her cell. Her hands covered her eyes as if she was in deep thought before seeming to become aware of the two other Force Wielders. The Padawan turned to his current Master, "Is that her?"
"Yes," Kanan confirmed before realizing something seemed different from her presence in the Force, "But... something's wrong."
Luminara then stood up before approaching Kanan. This made the Jedi raise an eyebrow, "Master?"
Without saying a word, she approached a coffin of some kind before phasing it inside of it. Kanan gasped as he quickly realized that it was only a hologram. To make things worse the hologram ended up revealing Luminara's decaying corpse inside the coffin. Kanan only continued to stare in horror that the rumors of her survival weren't true at all. Ezra stared in confusion and horror, "What happened to her? I don't understand."
"No? It doesn't seem that complicated," A new voice caught the attention of the two Jedi. They turned to the source of the voice, revealing a male Pau'an in black armor. The new foe approached the duo grinning as he stared at the two with his yellow eyes, "I am the Inquisitor."
The Inquisitor then drew out a lightsaber, and a red blade ignited from the hilt. The Dark Side User grinned, "Welcome."
Kanan feared as much that the Hand of the Emperor wasn't the only Force User the Empire recruited. With no other option, Kanan drew out his own lightsaber as the blue blade sprung to life as he aimed the blade at the Inquisitor. His foe started monologuing, "Yes, I'm afraid Master Luminara died with the Republic. But her bones continue to serve the Empire, luring the last Jedi to their ends."
Ezra quickly went to his coms, "Spectre-3, Spectre-7, come in. It's a trap!"
However, he only got static as a response, they were being jammed. The Inquisitor declared, "There will be no reinforcements."
Realizing backup wasn't coming any time soon, Kanan proceeded to engage the Grand Inquisitor. However, the Inquisitor quite easily blocked or stepped side all of Kanan's attacks. The Jedi was taken back at first but quickly continued his duel with the Dark Side User. As their blades clashed, the Inquisitor commented, "Interesting. It seems you trained with Jedi Master Depa Billaba."
Kanan blinked in shock, outside of Hera, he hadn't told anyone about his old Master, "How... Who are you?"
The Inquisitor didn't answer as he pressed his attack. Realizing Kanan was outmatched, Ezra snuck his way to the door for an exit strategy. He pulled out the thermal detonator and placed it on the locked door. Kanan's latest strike was caught by the Inquisitor, and the villain grinned, "The temple records are quite complete."
He pushed the Jedi back before swinging the red blade only to be blocked by the Jedi. The Grand Inquisitor pushed him back to the deceased Jedi Master, "In close-quarter fighting, Billaba's emphasis was always on form three, which you favor to a ridiculous degree."
Ezra launch an electric ball at the Inquisitor which he easily blocked with his lightsaber. Kanan tried to strike down this dangerous foe while he was distracted, only for the Inquisitor to step side and kicked him towards the teenage Padawan.
The Inquisitor commented, "Clearly, you were a poor student."
Ezra then proceeded to launch several more electric balls at the Inquisitor, which he didn't even bother blocking, showing his armor was impervious to the balls of electricity, "Is that really all you've got, my boy?"
As Kanan recovered, Ezra gestured to the primed detonator attached to the door behind them, "Well, I've got that."
Moments later, the detonator went off causing the door to explode. Kanan and Ezra made a run for it to regroup with the others. However, the Grand Inquisitor went to pursue the surviving Jedi.
Meanwhile, Sabine was attempting to check in with Kanan and Ezra as they should have been back by now. She called threw her coms in her helmet, "Spectre-5 to Spectre-1. Come in."
However, she only received static in response, although she had a feeling that this would happen, "Thought so..." She then turned to Zeb, "They're jamming our signal. They know we're here."
Zeb crossed his arms before asking, "Here in this lift or..."
"Here, period!" Sabine answered before catching on to the Empire's plan, "They lured us in upstairs at the prison's weak point. We're expected to exit the same way, so you can bet there will be troopers waiting for us." She turned to Zeb with a grim voice, "We'd never make it out of the lift."
"And what do we do about Peter?" Zeb wonders.
Sabine then remembered she managed to get a handful of the stuff unlocked on his suit and got an idea. "Spider-Man, you there?"
"A little busy here, Sabine!" Peter cried through the comms.
"Wait, how does he have comms?" Zeb wonders, not following how that's possible.
"Seems his suit has something to stop the jammers. Seems it only goes to and from him. I was able to unlock it earlier when messing with his recordings." Sabine shrugged and focused on Peter. "The Empire knows we're here. We gotta move out."
"I'm in the process of doing so, just a bit difficult as it seems every Stormtrooper is diverging on me!" Peter informed her as they heard tons of blaster fire. "I'll find you guys somewhere else. I might be able to give myself a diversion if I cut the power to the floor!"
"How do you plan on doing that?" Sabine wonders.
"Very quickly," Peter replied and cut the connection.
Then Zeb began to look concerned. "So what do we do in the meantime?"
Sabine then pulled out her detonator and flipped it. "Well, time for a miracle."
Peter used his systems to scan the hallways for anywhere he could get in or out and cut the power to the hall. What he found was some entryway that resembled a vent on Earth. Deciding to just go with it, he raced over and leaped onto the ceiling before he ripped the bars off, followed by him crawling inside the vents. When he got there, he found some power cables and ripped them, cutting all power to the floor.
But that's when things got really interesting.
There was another prisoner on that floor.
When the Stormtroopers were looking around to try and shoot Spider-Man, someone exited out of one of the cells. When a Trooper was trying to activate a light, they were met with a blade that sliced off his arm as he screamed in terror. Several Stormtroopers aimed in the direction that it came from and opened fire, thinking that it was Spider-Man. But what they saw was one of their dangerous prisoners now out on the loose.
Peter however didn't even register what was going on down there during the entire massacre, as he was currently crawling through the vents. He didn't have a comm connection to Kanan or Ezra, and he needed to try and help them out if he can. If this was a trap, then they could be surrounded by a dozen more troopers.
Peter kicked the ground and landed on the floor where the others should be. He was ready for a fight and even pierced the ground with his legs to try and intimidate other Troopers. But when he got there, he was surprised to look around and see that there was nobody around.
"Uh...if this is a trap, then where is everyone?" Peter asks as he retracted his arms, looking around the area. But the more he looked, all he saw was one giant empty hallway. "Now I'm a bit disappointed."
Just then, he heard footsteps running in his direction. Peter quickly spun around to see Kanan and Ezra making a run for it. Peter gave a small wave to them and looked around.
"Oh, hey! Where's the fire?" Peter asks the two of them.
They ran past Peter as Kanan activated his lightsaber, preparing for a fight.
"Run, Spidey!" Ezra warned his friend as he kept going.
"Um... I'm almost scared to say it, but from what?" Peter asks in concern.
That's when his senses went off and blared harder than they ever have before. It was like when that ship approached New York before he was dragged into space. The chill. The weakness. The fear.
That's when the Grand Inquisitor made his presence known to the young Avenger. "From me." Peter turned to face the Dark Jedi holding his red lightsaber as he grinned, showing off his sharp teeth to the hero. "Hello there."
"Oh, wow. You've got supervillains here, too," Peter said sarcastically to himself before shrugging. "Sure, like having the Space HYDR Nazi army wasn't enough."
"I knew luring the last of the Jedi here would draw you out as well." The Inquisitor said as he activated his lightsaber again, swinging to strike the hero, who leaped backward. "To be quite honest, I was expecting someone of your reputation to be a little older."
"Yeah, I hear that a lot," Peter replied as he rolled backward and shot two strands of webbing to try and fight and trap him. But that's when he watched the Inquisitor stop his webbing attack with the Force. "Okay..."
"Impressive." Grand Inquisitor said as he shot the webbing back, tangling it up around Peter. "But not too impressive."
"You're fun with kids, aren't you?" Peter asks as he tried to rip himself out of his own webbing.
The Inquisitor simply continued smirking. "Amusing. You mask your fear well. But I can sense your doubt." Then he walked over and placed his saber closer to Peter's throat. "Do you really think you can defeat me?"
"I'm not trying to defeat you," Peter smirked under his mask, "I've just trying to distract you."
While the Inquisitor was focused on Spider-Man, Kanan managed to charge in as Peter leaped over him as the Jedi reengaged the Dark Jedi hoping to catch him off guard, however, the Inquisitor easily deflected each blow before kicking him back. Kanan stumbled but raised his lightsaber for another assault only for Peter to stand beside him.
"Mind breaking me out?" Peter asks the Jedi.
Kanan quickly used his saber to cut Peter out of the webbing and they stood together. "Asking you to leave is out of the question, right?"
"Definitely," Peter stated.
"Okay. Let's take him." Kanan guessed and ran into an attack.
Peter leaped and swung an attack to fight the Inquisitor. When he went high, Kanan went low to try and put him off balance. But that didn't go the way they planned when the Inquisitor dodged Peter's attack, followed by him kicking the hero, sending him into the wall, and using his blade to block Kanan's attack. Peter was about to go back into another attack when the blade was revealed to be double-edged and the blade came up against Peter's neck.
"Oh, boy," Peter said in worry,
Ezra merely backed away slowly trying to analyze the situation trying to figure out a way to help his Jedi Master and his friend. The Inquisitor grinned as he turned to Ezra. "Are you paying attention, boy? The Jedi are dead, but there is another path... The Dark Side."
Ezra's eyes narrowed as he reached for the electric slingshot on his arm. "Never heard of it!"
He fired several electrical bolts at the Inquisitor as he pushed Kanan aside and stepped back for a moment to deflect the projectiles with his lightsaber. He then proceeded to Force Push Ezra back before turning his attention back to Kanan. "Have you taught him nothing?"
Spider-Man activated his arms for a brief moment to shoot several web vines at the ceiling around the Inquisitor. Trying to take down the ceiling around him, however, the villain cut through the rubble before the Avenger reactive the legs to block the counterattack. Kanan quickly moved in to help the teenager as Ezra tried to get back on his feet.
Back by the elevators, the elevator made its way back to the escape route the Rebels originally planned where a squad of Stormtroopers waited before them. Just as the doors opened, the troopers opened fire hoping to kill everyone inside. However, no one was there for three unconscious Stormtroopers making one of them call out, "Hold your fire!"
They moved inside to get a closer look at the situation, suddenly they heard a small beeping sound getting louder.
The head Stromtrooper looked to the source to spot a small thermal detonator near the corner of the lift. Before any of them could react, the bomb went off, destroying the elevator and sending the Stormtroopers flying.
Zeb could hear the explosion from below as he held his rifle in his hands, "That's one lift offline."
Sabine ran up to Zeb and told him with her own blasters in her hands, "I've disabled the other two. There are other ways down, but it'll take 'em a while." She then gestured the pathway ahead, "Let's go."
They quickly dashed, hoping they'd reach the rest of their friends in time.
As Spider-Man and Kanan continued to fight the Inquisitor, the former began to realize something. While the Dark Jedi did not hesitate to aim for fatal blows against the Jedi, he intentionally made sure any attacks he threw at Peter would only disable him. He wanted Spider-Man alive. But for what reason?
It was no secret that the Inquisitor knew that Spider-Man's sudden appearance through the Force but did he want him for his superhuman abilities? His armor? Or something else?
Peter took a quick glance to realize Kanan was thinking the same thing. Either way, they couldn't allow that to happen. As they avoided the Inquisitor's last strike, the villain turned to Spider-Man, "Do you really believe you can save your friends, boy? For their sake, surrender."
"Yeah, I'm very certain you'd kill them anyways even if I did surrender," Peter stated as he stood on guard, "No deal."
Kanan nodded in agreement, "Face it, we're not making deals with you!"
The Inquisitor moved out of his battle stance, and he scoffed, "Hmph! Then we'll let the other make one, shall we?"
He then proceeded to Force Push the two heroes past Ezra as he looked at his fallen allies, the Inquisitor turned his attention to Ezra, "Your Master can not save you or your friend. He is unfocused and undisciplined."
Ezra then turned to the Dark Jedi with a hardened glare, "Then we're perfect for each other!"
He fired more electric balls, which the Inquisitor easily deflected. He charged in to strike Ezra down but the teenager dodged the attack. The Inquisitor grinned as he turned to face the young Padawan. The Dark Jedi twirled his duel-bladed lightsaber, "I do so admire your persistence. My Master requested I bring Spider-Man alive but he didn't say anything about you. Ready to die?"
While he was indeed terrified, Ezra put on a brave face as he prepared for the next round. Just then, both Jedi and Avenger quickly recovered as their eyes widened in horror.
"Ezra!"
"NO!"
With no time to waste, Kanan used the Force to grab the Inquisitor and launched him to the ceiling. Spider-Man quickly webbed him to the ceiling hoping he would hold him. Peter called out, "Go! I doubt that'll hold him forever!"
Ezra nodded as he rejoined his crew as the Dark Jedi used the Force to use his Lightsaber to cut himself free from the webs, while Kanan commented. "That didn't hold him at all!"
I never made these things to hold back light or people who can manipulate gravity!" Peter stated in anger that his webs can't stop him.
The Inquisitor landed on his feet as he turned to face the three heroes half circle on his lightsaber completed itself before spinning around like a fan.
Peter had to admit that was something cool. "Okay, that would be cool if he wasn't trying to kill us." He then turned to Kanan, "Can yours do that?"
"Come on," The Jedi told the two teenagers, "Let's go!"
The three ran away from the Inquisitor as fast as their legs could carry them. Thankfully, it didn't take long for them to find Sabine and Zeb.
Sabine sighed under her helmet, "Oh, good you're all together."
"Sabine, Zeb," Peter sighed in relief. "We gotta get out of here."
"Working on it!" Zeb proclaimed.
She then gestured to their right, "This way!"
The group of Rebels ran in the direction Sabine pointed as the Inquisitor pressured them. Kanan turned to their Mandalorian, "You figured out it was a trap?"
"Yeah! I sent Spidey to back you up," Sabine confirmed before asking, "Luminara?"
"Long gone," Kanan frowned before asking, "Our new exit?"
"Landing platform," Sabine answered, earning a groan from Zeb and a small cheer from Peter.
Kanan raised an eyebrow, "Thought it was impossible to get out that way."
"Well, let's hope the Empire thinks so too," Sabine stated knowing it was their only option.
The Inquisitor with his spinning lightsaber of doom started picking up the pace before going for his own coms, "Secure the facility. Full lockdown."
Just then, the doors ahead of the heroes began closing. Spider-Man groaned, "Oh, come on! We're already on our way to the impossible escape route as it is!"
"Yeah," Zeb agreed as they tried to get through the doors before they were trapped, "Would be nice if we could catch a break for once!"
The Inquisitor started running through the closed doors causing both Spider-Man and Sabine to briefly turn to shoot their respective blasters and webs at him. The Dark Jedi quite easily deflected them before continuing his pursuit. As they were nearing the final closing door, Peter picked up the place before holding the last door in place with his bare hands.
"Hurry!" Peter cried to his friends. "Get through so I can slam the door on the Voldemort knock-off!"
As each of his friends made it through, the Inquisitor deactivated his weapon before he used his own speed and agility to get past the closing doors. Once everyone on his team was through Peter joined them allowing the door to shut before the Inquisitor could reach them.
Peter sighed in relief before his sixth sense tingled as a red blade cut through the door, "Yikes!"
He noticed as it slowly sliced his way through, before hearing Zeb calling out to him, "Keep moving, web-head!"
Peter quickly joined the others as Zeb aimed his rifle at the door controls for the door behind Peter before shooting them as the door slammed shut behind him.
The Lasat patted him, "Thanks, kid."
"You can thank me if we make out of this alive," Peter told the Lasat before turning to the large hangar door, "So... how are we getting through that?"
Sabine went to the controls for the large door trying to hack into it but she got nothing in response making her groan in anger, "I'm locked out of the system!" She then turned to the Padawan of the team, "Ezra?"
He approached the droid panel with his lockpick and tried to hack it as well only to get shocked in response.
Kanan helped Ezra up before telling him, "Ezra." He then gestured to the door with his hand raised, "Together."
The youngest member of the crew's eyes widened as he realize what he wanted him to do, "Seriously?"
"Yes," Kanan nodded as Ezra went into position, "Picture the locking mechanism in your mind."
Both Jedi closed their minds as they began to connect to the Force. It was their only chance of survival now, especially since, the Inquisitor was starting to cut the door that Zeb had shut, he complained, "Excuse me, but can we train Ezra later?"
Peter quickly shushed him, "Zeb! Let them do this... we have no other options." He then turned to Sabine, "Am I right?"
She nodded as their only chance of survival rested on Ezra and Kanan. The Jedi constructed as the large hanger door slowly opened up much to their amazement. Peter whispered to himself, "Oh, man... that's awesome."
"Get ready for a fight," Sabine told him as Peter activated his arms.
Once the doors were open, they were met with heavy resistance. Stormtroopers with parked TIE fighters. The moment those doors opened a Trooper ordered, "Capture the Spider! Kill the rest!"
They instantly opened fire at the Rebels as the heroes fought back. Kanan defended Ezra from blaster fire with his lightsaber while Sabine and Zeb took cover behind some crates as did Peter.
Peter's eyes narrowed as several more Troopers with some form of electric staff came running in, "Here they come!"
"One last miracle then," Zeb nodded as he pulled out his own grenade and rolled it at the charging Troopers. It stopped right at the enemy's feet before exploding. Spidey used this opportunity to throw some web grenades as they trapped several Troopers.
Kanan then made contact with their escape ship, "Spectre-5 to Phantom. We're on the landing deck, ready for pickup."
"On my way, Spectre-5," Hera's voice replied, "And I'm bringing the fleet."
"Wait," Peter blinked under his mask as he kicked an incoming Trooper, "We have a fleet?"
He turned to his friends as they each shrugged. Zeb admitted, "First time I'm hearing about it."
"We do now," Hera replied as the Phantom came into sight along with the giant bat-like creatures.
Peter's eyes widened under his mask, "Holy crap!"
The Phantom started shooting down the parked TIEs to slow down their pursuit. With that, everyone dashed the Phantom just as the Inquisitor joined the battle. The turrets tried to shoot the Phantom out of the sky but couldn't get a clear shot with all of the giant bat creatures. Zeb quickly destroyed the turrets to the Phantom could land.
Kanan engaged one of the Troopers in a duel before disarming him and striking him down, "Let's go before reinforcements show up."
The Phantom landed as Peter defended his friends with his suit and arms, "Go! I'll cover you!"
They nodded as his team boarded the Phantom while Peter protected them from the Imperials' blaster fire. Just then, Peter spotted the Inquisitor approaching him.
"Hurry! Baldly's catching up!" Peter warned his friends.
Kanan was the last one on as he turned to Spider-Man, "We're all aboard, Spidey! Get on! NOW!"
Without wasting a second, Peter deactivated his shield and ran to the Phantom which was already taking off. Spider-Man gave a large jump as he reached out for his escape but before he could, the Inquisitor reached out with the Force and tried to pull Peter back.
His eyes widened under his mask as the Peter-Tingle warned him of the danger but could do nothing to avoid it. He fired a web to catch Phantom trying to stay with them but it wasn't going to hold.
"GUYS!" Peter cried in terror.
"SPIDEY!" Ezra gasped as he used the Force himself to try to pull Peter back in but he was struggling.
Kanan reached out with the Force himself and tried to pull him in, "Hold on, kid!"
Peter grunted in pain as Hera was confused about why they were stuck. What's going on?"
"The Inquisitor's trying to pull Peter back in," Kanan shouted out, "We can't leave him!"
Zeb growled as he pulled out his bow rifle, "I'll make that freak let go!"
Sabine quickly stepped in and shoved the rifle down to stop Zeb from firing, "Don't! You could hit him!"
Truth be told, despite how advanced his armor was, she wasn't sure how well it would hold against Zeb's bo rifle fire. She could risk Peter getting hurt because of it.
Peter grunted in pain, trying to keep his body in one piece. "I'm starting to understand how the ferry felt!"
"I'm losing him," Ezra panicked worried he'll lose one of his closest friends among the crew.
"We're not losing him!" Kanan said in determination, "Not to the Empire!"
As the tug of war for Peter's life hung in the balance, Peter began screaming in pain as it felt he was being split into two. That's when something unexpected happened. They heard what sounded like a battle cry as the troopers were all finished off by one quick swiftly moving figure.
The figure then ran towards the Inquisitor in a fit of rage so fast that the Inquisitor had to stop his attempt on Spider-Man and blocked her incoming swing. That allowed the rebels to help pull their friend in.
The sword managed to hold up against his saber, causing the Inquisitor to become quite confused as he tried to hold her back. That's when the figure was revealed to be a figure that was familiar to none of them but was not of this universe.
Gamora.
Daughter of Thanos.
She swings to off balance the Inquisitor and even managed to kick his knee to stop him. She then leaped and was even given a hand by Sabine as they entered before they closed the Phantom and flew off.
Everyone gathered around Peter, and Ezra called out to him, "Peter? Peter! Are you okay?!"
"Say something!" Sabine added on with her helmet removed concerned look on her face over Peter.
A minute passed before a groan could be heard as his mask rolled back. "Everything hurts."
Hera then turned back to them, "I'm not sure what happened but... Master Luminara?"
Kanan and Ezra's thoughts returned to reality, the former sighed as he closed his eyes, "Gone. We'll have to find a way to spread the word."
After what they had just learned, they had to make sure other surviving Jedi would fall into the Inquisitor's trap. Hera then proceeded to ask, "How's Ezra taking it?"
"Not as bad as I am," Kanan admitted before turning to him, "I guess he's stuck with me. For now."
"And, who's our helper?" Hera asks, looking at Gamora.
"Yeah, who are you?" Zeb wonders.
"And why did you help us?" Sabine wonders.
"My name is Gamora," Gamora informed them.
Peter immediately jolted up at the mention of her name and looked toward her, a memory flashing:
"Alright, everybody, stay where you are, chill the F out." The man deactivated the mask, revealing his face, but Peter couldn't see him at the angle he was being held in, "I'm gonna ask you this one time. Where's Gamora?"
Tony held up his gauntlet in the man's direction, he retracted his mask, and his expression reflected Peter's complete and utter confusion.
"Yeah, I'll do you one better. Who's Gamora?" Tony asks.
"I'll do you one better!" Draxshouted, "Why is Gamora?!"
"Gamora?" Peter asks her, wanting it clarified.
"Yes," Gamora confirmed.
"The one dating Peter Quill?" Peter clarifies.
Gamora jumped when she heard that he knew her boyfriend. "You know Peter?"
"Tall, air-headed, trigger happy, overcompensating, thinks Footloose is the best film ever made," Peter recalled everything he can about Quill. "Makes a lot of 80s references. Yeah, met him."
"Is he..." Gamora was worried about what happened to her friends after she was taken from Knowhere.
"He's alive, as far as I last checked," Peter assured her.
"Wait, Pete, this girl's one of the Avengers?" Sabine asks in surprise.
"Close. I've never met her before, but she's a member of the group that calls themselves the Guardians of the Galaxy." Peter explains and looked at Gamora. "But last we heard, you were supposed to be dead. Thanks killed you to get the Soul Stone."
"I was, yes. I thought that was it. But then when I was about to die, it was like I was rescued by this woman..." Gamora explains the best she could. "She said that..."
"A universe was in danger. You couldn't go home, but she could send you there." Peter took a wild guess it was Madame Web who saved her.
Gamora was surprised to hear that he knew what she was gonna say. "More or less. How...?"
"She offered me and the others the same thing," Peter explains to her. "All of us came here. Drax, Mantis, and Quill."
"That's great to hear." Gamora sighed, but then became angry at herself. "If I haven't given the soul stone up, none of this would have happened."
"So, where can we drop you off?" Hera asks their new friend.
"I'm not entirely sure." Gamora sighed as she walked over to the pilot. "I have to find my friends. Make sure they're safe."
"Keep this up, we'll find every Avenger in a short while," Sabine commented as a joke.
"She's got a point. Stick with us we might be able to find them." Peter said, not realizing Sabine was being sarcastic.
Gamora chuckled and crossed her arms. "That's nice of you, but I can't put you in danger."
"We're already on the Empire's most wanted. What's the worst you can bring us?" Ezra asks her.
"He's right." Peter agreed. "After all of that, what's the worst they can throw at us?"
In the office of the Emperor on Coruscant, a young woman was staring at the footage of the prison escape. She was specifically watching as Spider-Man made his way through the prison like it was nothing. Fighting off every trooper they threw like they were nothing.
She also took a peak into the cameras of Gamora making her way through the halls and laying waste to everyone. These two were able to bring the most secure prison to its knees like it was nothing. Not to mention the mentions of a man going by the Black Panther that's making their business on Lothal much harder.
"Do you see?" The Emperor asks the woman.
"Yes, master." She nodded as she reached down, picking up a saber. "This...resistance is different from what we're normally used to. They're...powerful. Even from here, I can sense their presence."
"They have made a grave disturbance in the Force." Emperor Palpatine said as walked closer to her. "I need you to track them down. Snuff out the spark before it can become a fire."
She then bowed before her Emperor and held her saber to her chest. "I will not fail you, My Lord."
"I know that you won't...I have trained you, especially for this... Mara Jade." Palpatine said with pride to his apprentice.
The next morning on Lothal, the Ghost landed as everyone was finding out how the new arrangement was going to work out. Gamora decided to bunk up with Sabine for the time being until they found her friends. She also said she had a few choice words she would like to speak to Quill when they found him.
Kanan approached Ezra as he sat outside the ship on the dock. "Look, don't bother saying it. I'm letting you off the hook."
Kanan blinked in confusion, "What are you talking about?"
"I know you wanted to dump me on Luminara," Ezra gave Kanan a mild glare, "Just 'cause she's gone doesn't mean you're stuck with me."
"I don't want to dump you," Kanan told Ezra before sighing, okay, he could have worded that better, he then sat beside the boy, "Look, I just wanted you to have the best teacher."
"Well, I don't want the best teacher. I want you." Ezra snapped before realizing what he said not wanting to offend Kanan, "Not that you're not the best. I..."
"Ezra. I'm not gonna try to teach you anymore." Kanan cut him off making the Padawan learner. Although little did he know Kanan wasn't done talking as he finally understood what Master Yoda said there was no try as he told him, "If all I do is try, that means I don't truly believe I can succeed. So from now on, I will teach you."
Ezra blinked in shock before turning back to Kanan, "Look, I may fail. You may fail. But there is no try."
The Lothal native finally nodded, "I understand, Master."
"Let's see if you do," Kanan smiled as he lent him his Jedi weapon as finally truly began teaching him defensive lightsaber techniques.
