(A/N): Hey Guys! Crap, crap, CRAP! I only just realised this chapter was missing, a few weeks after I uploaded the next one... oops. That must have confused you guys pretty majorly...

Disclaimer: I own nothing except my own stupidity... now where did I put that receipt?

Remus

I was shaken awake the next morning by Elaine, who held up a finger to tell me to be quiet. She gripped my wrist tightly and dragged me out of bed, pulling me through the corridors all the way to the Room of Requirement. "Elaine, what's going on?" I asked as we entered, before the sight before me answered my question. In front of me was a circle of ingredients- ingredients I recognised as being vital for the animagus transformation. "Elaine..." I said warningly, but she shushed me. Actually shushed me! She stepped into the circle, moving to pop a bay sprig in her mouth.

"Don't."

Both of us jumped in surprise, turning to see Leo leaning against one of the tables. "I'll do what I want," Elaine told him defensively, immediately moving again.

"Don't," Leo said again, suddenly standing in front of Elaine with the bay sprig she'd be holding in his hand now, instead.

"Why?" She practically growled, and I could tell she was resisting the urge to stomp her foot.

"Because if you do it like that, you will die." Elaine and I stared at him for a long, tense moment, and he shrugged. "Or at least lose a limb." He snapped a single leaf off the bay sprig and handed it to her, leaving the rest on a table. "Don't chew." She stared at him with wide eyes before nodding sharply. "Sit." She hesitated for a second before doing as he said. With her in the center of the circle, he studied the ingredients carefully for a minute before rearranging some and breaking bits off others. "Okay, you should be good." Elaine stared at him before she raised her wand, pointing it at herself, and starting to chant.

"Proserpina, dea mutationem-"

"That's an a, not an e," Leo told her. Several times. Eventually, he just sighed, took out his own wand, and did it himself. "Proserpina, dea mutationem nobis pro nobis melius mutare, coibant cum spiritus animalis. Concede nobis ut cum ipsis verus Deus Persephone!" The ingredients started to glow, and Elaine's eyes widened in apprehension. "Spiritus animalis apparent!" There was a slight flash- not actually bright, but more blurring Elaine's form. Then, the flash disappeared, and she started to change. "Moony, get out." Leo's tone was serious, completely so, and I headed for the door without question, closing it tightly behind me.

(A/N): Sorry for the mixup guys!

This chapter has had minor edits made to it on 30/12/22 - Please note that the animagi transformation isn't accurate to canon, because at the time where I originally wrote the transformation scenes, there was very little information on the animagi transformation available. By the time the information came out, it was way too late for me to be able to change it without rewriting large chunks of this story.

This chapter has had edits made to it on 1/3/24 - formatting, and reconfiguring of sentences. Another thing I regret about what I did with the animagi transformations is having Elaine 'need' Leo's help (she wouldn't have needed his help if she'd waited until she was more ready for the actual ritual part of the transformation. She was ready to change, she just wasn't ready for the process- aka setting up the ingredients and doing the chant- which is why Leo is the one that does it for her.) I think at the time I wanted it to be partially his doing, since he was so hesitant to 'let' her do it, and I also do think that Elaine is less in this to do the cool thing and become an animagus, and is more so only doing it because it's the only way she can help Remus. She sees it as a necessary step, so I do think she's less inclined to care about the method than the outcome, but I still feel a bit icky about having her have to rely on Leo to get this done. To be fair, I do think if Elaine had completed the transformation first, she'd probably have helped Leo out in much the same way, but still. This could also be a setup to a few things much, MUCH further down the line with Elaine, to do with her lack of care taken with ingredients, and the trouble she has with Latin, but who can say for sure?
