(A/N): Hey Guys! So, I'm in Skills, which is actually PLP now, I've done some work, typing up what needs to be typed up, but as I said last time, I don't trust the printers here at school, so I'll do that at home. I should probably actually be doing my History work on the Holocaust, but eh, I can do that whenever, it's just six slides. On the other hand, it is an oral presentation... I hate oral presentations. I'm also sick again... the flu. Stupid thing...

Leo
Over the next few weeks, we ran our two newest guests through the basics of being a vampire: Fighting, feeding- or not- and how coexist with five other vampires, some of whom are very much not 'sharers'. They didn't so much have trouble with the fighting, nor the feeding, but the thing they found most difficult seemed to be just getting adjusted to being a vampire in the first place. "So... we don't have to sleep?" Shari shook her head, and the two teens shared a look.
"You don't eat human food either," I piped up from one of the couches, quietly reading a book while Shari and Lisbet were teaching the newbies.
"Well, again, like the sleeping, you can, but there isn't a point to it- and if you eat too much it'll make you sick," Lisbet told them, and Jo grimaced.
"What about our families?" Shari frowned.
"I'm sorry, but you can't go back to them. At this point, you'd probably just kill them." Jo and Danniel both flinched. "And they'll notice that you look different- and eventually, that you don't age. If you go back to them, you'll watch them grow old and die, and you can't do a thing about it... isn't it better to avoid that?" Danniel pursed his lips.
"How are you so sure that we'll attack them?" Shari rolled her eyes.
"How much trouble are you having just being around Leo?" Jo and Danniel glanced at me, grimacing. "A fair amount, yeah?" Jo nodded hesitantly.
"He's only like, quarter human- a full human, you wouldn't be able to resist. Hell, even Leo, being half-vampire, has trouble being around full humans sometimes."
I scoffed, rolling my eyes. "You underestimate me Shari- I always have trouble being around humans, I'm just great at hiding it." She narrowed her eyes at me.
"Always?" I shrugged.
"Pretty much, yeah." Lisbet cleared her throat, trying to change the subject back- though whether that was for my benefit, the twins, or her own, I couldn't tell.
"Even we older vampires have some trouble around humans; avoid big crowds, even after you adjust, it's..." She shared a look with Shari. "Disorientating. That much blood... it's difficult to resist." Jo and Danniel frowned.
"So, we basically have to hide ourselves away for the rest of eternity?" Danniel asked skeptically, and Shari shook her head.
"I didn't say that. Leo's partly human, you can build up a sort of immunity to humans by being around him, then we'll expose you to a full human and let you build up immunity to that. Eventually, you'll have as much control as the rest of us."
I raised an eyebrow at Lisbet's plan. "Where are you going to get a full human?" She shrugged, and Shari answered for her.
"Maybe we could bring them out the next time your mother pays a visit," She suggested darkly, and I rolled my eyes.
"My mother's only half human," I reminded them, then froze, feeling Shari and Lisbet watching me in that careful way that never meant anything good. "No way," I growled. "No!" I protested, and Shari rolled her eyes.
"They wouldn't even be in any danger, we'd all be there and we can more than handle the newbies!" I shook my head furiously.
"You're not going to use one of my friends as bait, no way!" Lisbet sighed deeply.
"They're going to come here eventually, Leo- do you really want the Twins to not have developed an immunity before then? You're really ready to put them all in danger, rather than let them help us?" I shook my head.
"I know what you're doing Lisbet, don't even try it; I'm not putting any of them in danger, especially not the full humans." Danniel frowned.
"Some of them aren't human?" I shrugged.
"Remus is a werewolf, remember? He wouldn't work for this. That only leaves Elaine, James, and Sirius." Shari looked confused. "Peter and Lily don't know about us being vampires, so they're most definitely out."
Lisbet shook her head slowly, disapprovingly. "You'll have to tell them eventually." I glared at her.
"I will, but they aren't finding out while they're under attack from the Twins!" I told her sternly, and Jo and Danniel looked confused.
"I thought you said Elaine was half-veela as well," Danniel piped up, and I stared at him for a second, perplexed.
"What?" Then I pieced together what he was saying and laughed. "Oh, no! Elaine's not my girlfriend!" Even though I wish she was. The two looked surprised.
"So, who is your girlfriend?" Shari and Lisbet stared at me as well, waiting with an arched brow each- on opposite sides, too, as though they were trying to balance each other out.
"Yeah, Leo, who is your girlfriend?"
I sighed deeply, scratching the back of my neck sheepishly. "Brooke, kind of." Shari's eyebrow jumped higher.
"'Kind of'?" I shrugged defensively.
"Well, we never made it official."
She shook her head, returning to the subject at hand. "What if we asked them? And they agreed?" I glared at her.
"You're not asking them." Lisbet smirked infuriatingly.
"Why, because they'll agree?" Reluctantly, I nodded.
"Probably, yeah- but I won't let you put them in danger! Elaine's already been attacked by a vampire before, Sirius doesn't really know all that much about vampires, and I don't want to expose him to... this-" I gestured to the twins. "-anytime soon." Lisbet's lips quirked up.
"So, that leaves James."
I glared at her, crossing my arms over my chest stubbornly. "James isn't exactly very trusting of vampires." Shari rolled her eyes.
"But he's your friend. He'd do it for you, wouldn't he?" I shrugged.
"Lately, James hasn't trusted me all that much either."
Jo directed her gaze to the ground, obviously feeling uncomfortable, but Danniel just gave a quizzical sort of smile. "Your friends are turning on you?" I glared at him.
"I won't hesitate to kill you if you piss me off, newbie- you aren't human." Danniel frowned at the reminder of his newfound lifestyle change.
"So, what? You'd kill a vampire, but not a human?" I shrugged.
"If I had to, yeah." Lisbet suddenly grinned- which was never, ever a good thing; it was like hearing the incantation before the curse, or the honk before the car.
"Well, I think we should drop the 'bait' idea." We all stared at her, surprised.
"What?" I asked bluntly, and she shrugged.
"If you don't want us to ask them, I guess that's that."
She seemed to be dropping the issue, but I knew better than to trust this sudden change. "I mean it Lisbet, don't ask them to do this!" She pouted slightly, as though I was ruining her fun by telling her she couldn't sit on the dining table, not that she couldn't endanger my friends.
"But Leo, I'm not." Seeing me still skeptical, she frowned. "I promise."
(A/N): Heh, over 1,000 words. So, I'm nearing 200,000 words, yay! This is over half of my total word count on this website...
My school laptop is starting to run out battery, so I'll probably write chapters in my book from now on, if I get the chance to. It's almost recess, so I probably won't get another chapter written until like, halfway through Drama.
Please review and/or check out my other stories!
This chapter has had edits made to it on 7/2/25 - formatting and reconfiguring of sentences. Added the part where Leo says, 'and how to coexist with five other vampires, some of whom are very much not 'sharers', since originally it was just 'fight, feed, and... not' which is a very short list, and I feel like learning how to be part of a clan is quite important and this is the first step. Also, you'll notice that Leo didn't mention how the Twins were handling that particularly item, since we find out much later that Danniel pretty regularly steals from Lisbet's 'stash' and she gets angry about it. It originally said 'we don't sleep?', and I changed it to 'we don't HAVE to sleep?', since I later implied that some vampires had started their day in the middle of it, and I think vampires CAN technically sleep, but only like... a few short hours every month or so, and they definitely don't NEED to. Added the part where when Lisbet changes the subject, Leo says, 'though whether that was for my benefit, the twins, or her own, I couldn't tell.' Shari and Lisbet were originally just 'watching' Leo, but I changed it to 'watching me in that careful way that never meant anything good', since Leo is well-versed in their tricks, and to be honest... they aren't that sneaky. Added the description that Lisbet's head shake about Peter and Lily not knowing what he is was 'disapproving'. Added the part with Lisbet and Shari raising the opposite brow as though to balance each other out. Added the descriptor that Leo found Lisbet's smirk 'infuriating'- because she's a little shit, and they bond over that later. Changed what was quite possibly my biggest issue with this chapter, which was Danniel smirking about Leo's friends turning on him, which is just... SO not Danniel's character. Changed it to him giving a 'quizzical sort of smile', because I think Danniel is one of those people who, unfortunately, smiles when he's confused, and Leo absolutely bit his head off for it. Lisbet originally just grinned, so I made it sudden, and added the part following that, which includes the first allusion to something that gets mentioned briefly much later, which is Leo having been hit by a car at one point. Lisbet originally just pouted, so I added the part following that, about Leo ruining her fun by telling her she couldn't sit on the dining table (oh, so LISBET can't sit on the dining table, but when the J-man does it- Actually, Leo literally MADE that happen, didn't he? Huh).
