(A/N): Hey Guys! SO, this chapter took a little bit longer to upload because I not only had to type it up, but I also had to finish writing it :P Also, it's after 3:30 in the morning, so I hope you appreciate this shit right now. :D

Disclaimer: I own nothing you recognise.

Lily

My eyebrows shot up in surprise.

"He- What?" I asked, stunned, and Elaine nodded.

"Yeah. We left him a few years ago." She said, her voice somewhat quiet, and even in my stunned state, I knew Leo wanted to comfort her, even though she was otherwise seemingly unemotional.

"Is your mother just as bad?" I said, turning my gaze to him, who shook his head.

"No-" Remus cut him off.

"She used the cruciatus curse on him." My eyes widened, and I stared at Leo.

"Leo!" He shrugged.

"I've had worse." I quirked an eyebrow at him.

"Oh really? Like what?" I asked, expecting to catch him out, but he remained nonchalant.

"The time she poisoned me." Only I looked surprised, so I guess Brooke already knew.

"She- She tried to kill you?" Leo shrugged.

"It was more of an incentive to get what she wanted." I stared at him, incredulous.

"What could be so bloody important that she would poison her son for it?" Leo rolled his eyes.

"Oh please, that woman would do her best to try and kill me even if meant all of wizard kind becoming slaves to the muggles." I raised an eyebrow. "She's a pureblood supremacist, remember?" I nodded now, slowly, still kind of stunned.

"What about Mia?" He winced, crossing his arms over his chest.

"She got it less than I did, I was usually protecting her." I shook my head.

"I meant now." He paused for a second.

"When she came back from Christmas break she had a bruise on her arm, and she had a bruise on her cheek when I saw her on the Hogwarts express after the summer." I hung my head, shaking it.

"Shit... fuck... holy crap..." I murmured, and I knew, by the smirk on his face, that Leo was the only one that could hear me.

"She can handle it, Lily." I went to turn on him, but the steady look in his eye stopped me. "If I thought, for a second, that she couldn't handle it, I'd have her out of there in a second, consequences be damned." I smiled weakly, more worried about him than anything else.

How could someone do that to their child? Especially if that child was Leo.

"So... So, when you said she rescued you last year...?" he nodded.

"That was when my mother poisoned me, actually. She had me chained to this big block of stone, terrorised me, and when she left, Mia came in." He chuckled bitterly. "At first I thought she was some sort of new form of torture. That my mother had turned her against me over the years or something." He glanced at Brooke, who slipped her hand in his, squeezing it as he took a deep breath. "But she got me unchained, and when I heard my mother coming back, I shoved her under a table so she wouldn't get punished for it. Of course, I got the cruciatus curse, and poisoned, but then Lisbet saved me." Elaine raised an eyebrow.

"So, that's how you met Lisbet?" Leo shook his head, smiling slightly sadly.

"No. Do you remember the day with Jonothan and the woman?" Elaine was the only one of us who seemed to know what Leo was referencing here, as she paused for a second before nodding. "Well... my mother may have tried to kill me, but she also probably saved my life." All of our eyebrows shot up at this statement.

"What?" Remus choked out, and Leo nodded firmly.

"I had a big shard of glass sticking out of my side. By the end, I could barely stand." He turned his head to look solely at Elaine. "Lisbet was the woman with Jonothan, but she was a double agent, as such. She was working for my mother, but with us as well..." He trailed off, shaking his head.

"You could of died." I stated, and Remus clenched his jaw.

"Promise, Leo. Promise us you won't do anything that reckless again." Leo shook his head, smiling slightly.

"I was protecting Elaine." We softened slightly, knowing we couldn't possibly get him to promise anything, if that was the case. "I would have done it for any one of you, and you can't make me promise that I won't." Brooke hugged his arm, and he turned his head to smile down at her.

"We can look after ourselves, Leo." I said, but he shook his head.

"No you can't Lily. You think you can, but you can't." He paused for a second, taking a deep breath. "And I know that, one day, I'll lose you all, and that-" His voice cracked quietly, and our eyes all widened.

"Leo!" Elaine and I exclaimed, rushing forward to embrace him, Remus close behind, throwing his arms around all of us.

"Sorry." Leo whispered, and as we all pulled back, I saw just the tiniest bit of a tear under his eyes before he swiped it away with his finger.

(A/N): So, what did you think?

Also, if I can write this decently while I'm massively sleep deprived, why can no one else in my school when they're fully rested?
