Late Nighters Tavern & Inn, Underground Den
The barrel moves to the side revealing a door opens up and the trio heads inside. The barrel closes behind them quietly. Walking down a dim staircase then turning a corner at the bottom of the stairs turns into a large room. Once inside the room it is busy with many clan members. Some talking while others are eating or rather drinking from mugs. Sitting on a large throne is the clan leader and next to him is his mate who is sitting on her own throne.
Heather and Snotlout take a seat near the front while Hiccup goes to stand in front of the clan leaders. The woman is wearing a tan shirt with brown leggings and a skirt that is open on one side. She, like her mate, is pale with green eyes. She has her hair in three long braids that go past her waist. When she sees Hiccup, she stands up to hug her son tightly. She then said in excitement, "Son, I am glad you are here." Hiccup nods to his mother, hugging her for a moment longer, "I am happy to see you mom." Mother and son smile at each other.
She pulls back patting her son on the cheek then goes to sit back down next to her mate. Hiccup blushes at his mother's attention but remains in place. Then Hiccup's father stands up and he is a big man with a red beard, green shirt and brown pants with a belt around his waist. He stands up, "Silence!" He yells out and once everyone goes silent turning to him, he starts, "I called this meeting to share that we will have to leave soon." The clan members jump up in protest but Stoick raises his hand to silence the crowd.
Once they become silent once more he continues, "Too many humans are starting to see that we haven't changed and are getting suspicious about us. For the safety of the clan, we have to leave." Hiccup is shocked about this and that means he would have to leave his mate. No human was allowed to know about their existence. Hiccup won't just leave his mate not after just finding her after so many years of searching. Near him are Heather and Snotlout who look at each other knowing Hiccup won't leave without his mate.
Hiccup steps up and yells, "I won't leave! I still have some business here!" Both Heather and Snotlout nod to each other, however Stoick glares at his son then says, "We don't have a choice Hiccup. It is getting too risky for us to stay. We have to leave." Father and son stare each other down and the clan members take a step back. When Hiccup refuses to back down Stoick stands taller and growls, Hiccup however does not bow and matches his father's challenge. His mother sees something in her son and steps between them looking at her mate, "Stoick. Maybe we should give him a few weeks. He is young and will be able to stay a little bit longer than the rest of us."
Stoick goes silent pondering what she has said but relaxes from his stance, looks to his mate with love then back at his son with a hard expression. He thinks for a moment then to his son he says, "Fine. Hiccup you can stay to deal with whatever business you have left. However, I want you to rejoin the clan as soon as you are done. You are next in line to lead the Hooligan clan."
Hiccup is able to relax some but knows his father has more to say to him. Stoick taking a breath then said, "The clan will move far north. Once there we will establish a territory. We will leave in the next few days. We leave nothing behind to show that we were ever here." The clan nods and Stoick calls the end of the meeting, and everyone begins to pack and get ready to move. Stoick shakes his head to his son and joins the others.
Snotlout and Heather stand next to Hiccup and his mother comes up to him, "You found her?" Hiccup nodded and said, "I did. I need time to win her heart. I will not rejoin until she comes with me willing. No matter how long it takes me." His mother nods and hugs him. Then she said, "Be safe son. I want you to come back soon. And please be careful of others' son. A lone vampire is vulnerable to attack. Once we leave this area will be up for grabs." Heather comes up and says, "Good thing he has us." Snotlout nods, puffing out his chest. Both Hiccup and Heather roll their eyes at him.
Stoick says, "Come Valka. We need to help prepare for the move." Valka says, "I will help in a moment love." She turns to Hiccup, hugging him and placing a kiss on his head. Hiccup hugs her back giving her a kiss on the cheek. Mother and son separate, and he watches his mother help the clan move. Hiccup leads Heather and Snotlout back upstairs.
Late Nighters Tavern & Inn
Once back up in the bar they make sure no one is awake and leave to go on a hunt. Hiccup goes to make sure his mate is safe before he leaves to join in on the hunt. When the trio come back the sun is getting ready to rise and they head inside the bar. Hiccup goes behind the bar, Heather heads to the kitchen to prepare meals, while Snotlout sits at his table and waits for someone to start trouble.
After a few hours everyone is in the bar for breakfast and Hiccup is waiting for his mate to appear once more. He gets his wish when he sees her coming down and she looks for a table to sit at and find none. But she does see that the bar is free and goes to sit down. Hiccup gives a customer a mug filled with mead and goes over to her. He smiled and asked, "How did you sleep milady?" Astrid is suspicious and answers, "I slept alright." She feels her stomach growl and Hiccup, hearing this asked, "What would you like for breakfast?" Astrid answers, "I don't have anything to pay you." Hiccup shakes his head no and says, "Don't worry about it. I am more than happy to help you."
Astrid is grateful and waits for a meal and she gets a plate with some chicken, a small loaf of bread and a few slices of cheese. He gives her a cup of water and leaves her to her meal but keeps a close eye on her. After her meal she remembers her dragon and then says to Hiccup, "Thank you for the meal and room. I have to go." She gets up to leave and that is when Hiccup panics and yells, "Wait! Do you need work!?"
Astrid slowly turns to face him and nods her head. Hiccup sighs with relief then says, "You can work for me. You can keep your room, and you will be able to work for room and board as well as get some money." Astrid thinks about it while Hiccup has moved closer to her.
Both Heather and Snotlout watch closely and are ready to grab him. Astrid looked at him and said, "I still have to do something first before I can start." Hiccup nodded then said, "Go do what you need to do then come back and we can talk about when you can start." Astrid nods and heads out the door Hiccup grows worried when Astrid leaves. But he can't do anything about it now and so goes back to serving patrons. Both Heather and Snotlout relax some but keep a close eye on Hiccup.
After a couple of hours Hiccup is getting more worried and his friends can feel it. By noon Hiccup is getting more and more frantic. Both Heather and Snotlout watch and make sure he does not do something stupid. The bar is empty, and Hiccup throws his hands up and says, "Forget this. I am going to look for her." Both Snotlout and Heather stopped him and she said, "The sun is out right now. You will be exposed if you leave now."
Hiccup then replies, "I don't care. She is in trouble. I can feel it." Snotlout then said, "Look Hiccup. If you expose yourself then we will have to leave. And that means leaving her behind. Or she finds out what you are now and begins to fear and hate you." Hiccup calms down slightly then Heather finishes, "We know you have been searching for a long time for your mate." Hiccup turns to Heather, "Now that you found her. You have to play it smart Hiccup. If you want her to be yours, you have to trust that she will come back to you on her own."
Hiccup closes his eyes, taking deep breaths and takes a step back then says, "When she gets back. Let me know." Hiccup then heads up the stairs to his own room that is right next to Astrids He then heads to his own room. His room used to be behind the bar but has since moved his room next to Astrids so he can get to her should she ever be in danger.
After an hour Hiccup disappeared, Astrid came back, and she looked exhausted. Heather came over then asked, "Are you ok?" Astrid responded, "I'm ok. I just want to lay down and sleep." Heather nodded and said, "Get some rest. I will let Hiccup know you are back and once you are ready talk to him." Astrid nods then goes up to her room.
Heather took notice that she has a slight limp and knows Hiccup will want answers on what happened to her. Once she knows Astrid is in her room, she nods her head to Snotlout. He nods and gets ready to step in when necessary. They wait for Hiccup to come back and see what he says. Once night falls Hiccup has come down and Heather told him about Astrid coming back with a slight limp. Hiccup's eyes turned into slits and tried to leave to find the person who hurt her. Snotlout grabbed him to stop him while Heather calmed him down.
When Hiccup could not leave to find who hurt Astrid, he then turns to her room to lay claim to her. So that everyone would know who her mate is. Knowing this both Heather and Snotlout step in once more with Snotlout holding Hiccup back while Heather stands in front of him. Blocking his way to Astrid's room angered him even more. When Hiccup growled deeply both Heather and Snotlout fought to bow in submission.
It took the pair over an hour to calm Hiccup down once Hiccup had calmed down and was thinking straight again. Hiccup moved behind the bar to clean it up to distract himself. While Heather goes to the back to clean up while Snotlout stays with Hiccup. After a little bit more time has passed some patrons come in for meals while others come for a meal and room. Hiccup and Snotlout see Astrid coming down and Hiccup is happy to see her.
She came over and Hiccup asked, "Are you ready to start?" Astrid nodded and asked, "Would it be alright if I started in the kitchen? I don't think I can deal with people right now." Hiccup is concerned but nods his head keeping a smile on his face, "You can. Heather is the cook, and she can get you started." Astrid nodded, then asked, "How long will I be working?" Hiccup answers, "In the mornings and evenings. And any tips you earn you keep."
Astrid nods again then heads to the kitchen where she helps prepare the meals, bringing them out for Hiccup and Snotlout to pass out. She even helps with cleaning up as well. Hiccup is happy she is back with Heather as he does not have to worry about another male taking her from him. As the night goes on Hiccup watches Astrid as she cleans up, bringing food and drinks out through the night. Snotlout watches from a distance and as always helps himself to the human females he can have.
