Chapter 2
Previously on Whose Am I:
"Hey, Sweetie! How's my Princess doing today?"
Annie audibly swallowed, "Hey, Mom. I'm good. How are you?"
"I'm missing you so much. How was camp today?"
Annie looked up to see her aunt standing in the doorway with her arms crossed and staring at her. "Um, Aunt Zee wants to talk to you about that."
"Oh?"
"Yeah. Hold on" With a heavy sigh, Annie handed the phone to her aunt and then sat on the bed across from her with her head down as she stared at her clasped hands on her lap.
"Hey, Roni. She's okay. We had a little incident today. Apparently, Annie decided to ditch camp and go find her birth mother."
Annie could easily hear her mother's response. "SHE WHAT?!"
It had been several days since Annie spoke with her mom and she felt horrible for the way she made her mom feel by trying to find her biological mother. She could still hear the hurt in her mother's voice on the phone. Since then, she's been a model child going to camp and behaving at her aunt's house. Then again, her aunt Zelena hasn't given her much choice with the way she monitor's her every step. Even now, sitting outside at Starbucks and having a Frappuccino, her aunt is right with her.
"You're doing it again, Annie."
Annie looks up to her aunt who's staring at her as if she's puzzle to solve.
"Doing what?" Annie knows where this conversation is going, but she's still going to play dumb a little longer and take a long sip of her cold drink.
"You're thinking about your biological mother and that story you fed me."
"IT'S NOT A STORY! IT'S TRUE, AUNT Z!" She stood up in her defense, but quickly sat down when she saw everyone on the patio staring. "Sorry." She mumbled and then took another sip.
Clearing her throat, Zelena leaned in and spoke in a calm, quiet voice. Annie, there is no such thing as magic. I appreciate you wanting to understand where you came from, but you can't use a book as an excuse to go behind our backs and you certainly can't just sneak away. You're still too young and the world can be a dangerous place for kids your age."
Annie sat there with tears building up in her eyes, trying to prevent them from falling, but failing miserably. She sat in silence and stared at her drink. Seeing how upset the little girl was getting, Zelena stopped with the lecturing. "Annie, I'm sorry about what happened when you went to her house. I know you had your hopes up that you'd get to at least meet you're her."
Annie sniffled as tears fell faster now, "I just don't understand. I wasn't allowed to see her. Why would she tell me I can't see her and never could? Why would she kick me out like that?"
Zelena pursed her lips remember how upset she found the girl at the police station. She was livid too at how Annie had been treated and immediately marched over to the house after dropping Annie back at home and banged on the door. She'll never forget the response she got from that woman whose name she failed to ask for. "How would you feel if you had to look into the same eyes as the man who raped and beat you?" Zelena was left speechless as a door was slammed in her face after she was told to never return. While standing at the door, she couldn't help, but think the tattooed woman had acted like they'd met before. Strange.
She could never tell Annie about what happened, but she could understand things a little better from their perspective. While she still didn't agree with how it was handled, she understood that emotions were running high and the sister had been caught off guard. Zelena knew she simply needed to dissuade Annie from ever trying it again.
Letting out a heavy sigh, Zelena took a large gulp of her Chai Tea and her thoughts turned to her sister. Roni was heartbroken at what Annie pulled. She thought they had the perfect mother/daughter relationship and couldn't understand it. Zelena knew what it was like, wanting to know where you came from since she had never known who her father was. She still lover her adoptive father, but of course she wanted to understand her origins. She knew this was what Annie was feeling, but what she couldn't understand was why Annie was making up stories about curses and magic along with it.
Unbeknownst to the pair drinking their Starbucks, Lily was watching them from a corner a block away while smoking her cigarette. So Zelena is her aunt in this world. Does that mean that Regina is her… Shaking her thoughts, Lily looked around to see if anyone else would be joining them, but no one else came. After another half hour, Lily followed them on her motorcycle from a distance to learn where they lived. She saw them drive into the driveway of beautiful two-story brick house where two other children were already outside playing in the yard. The young boy and girl, slightly younger looking than Annie, ran to greet the pair in the car after it parked and then proceeded to drag Annie by the hand into the yard to join them in their game.
Lily kept staring at Annie and studying her features. She couldn't get over the resemblance. Rubbing her head as she felt the start of a headache, Lily kept trying to piece things together. I've only been awake from this curse for a couple of months. I always thought Emma had the terrible misfortune of being assaulted when we were brought to this world and Annie was the result of that, but now that I've seen her there's no mistaking it. Emma was already pregnant when we came to this realm. Shit.
Lily had been in a motorcycle accident two months ago and while lying unconscious in the hospital, Emma kissed her forehead while crying. That's when her memories came rushing back. They had never kissed each other before because that just wasn't their thing. They were huggers, but always hesitant to show more affection than that. Emma had been beside herself that day and needed her sister. Little did she know the effect her kiss had on the unconscious woman. Memories flooded her mind as she lied still in the bed. When she finally came to, she quickly realized that she was the only one that had remembered.
Feeling her cell phone vibrate in her pocket, Lily snagged it and smiled when she saw it was text from her sister.
Emma: Hey, Lils. Just got home. Where ya at? I'm craving sushi!
Lily: Welcome home! I'm out running errands and should be home within the hour. Let's hit The Boat House and we can ask Rubes to join us.
Emma: Excellent! I'll text her and let her know the plan.
Lily pocketed her cell and continued to watch from a distance. She stood out in the family neighborhood with her leathers, black helmet and black Ducati. She noticed the front door open and her heart practically stopped when she saw who walked out. Cora Mills. Fucking hell! She saw Cora kiss Zelena on the cheek and then grab one of Zelena's bags to help carry inside. This wasn't the Cora she knew. The woman in front of her almost looked…sweet, smiling at the children as they ran up to her and hugged her neck.
Once the family was inside their house, Lily quickly started up her Ducati and sped out of there, her blood running cold at the thought of Cora Mills being so close to where she lived with Emma. Fuck Fuck Fuck! Her entire body began to shake. Who else is here? Where are they? Is Regina nearby? Where are the Charmings? Where's Mal? Where's fucking Rumpelstiltskin? Who's awake? She needed to do some research and find these people so she knew what she was dealing with. I can't let Emma's daughter be raised by Cora.
Ruby walked into the sushi restaurant and found her sisters, "Ems! Welcome home!" She ran up and hugged Emma tight while kissing her on the cheek with an exaggerated 'MWAH' sound. "I want details about your trip."
Emma smiled and began signing, "It was productive, but exhausting. Dr. Rojas said I actually used my voice while I was hypnotized so she thinks there's a good chance that I'll be able to speak again." Emma then took a gulp of her cold, raspberry sake and continued, "You wouldn't believe how beautiful this doctor is, Rubes. It was so difficult to look her in the eye half the time." Emma blushed as she described her therapist. "Olive skin, deep brown eyes and the thickest, silkiest hair I've ever seen."
With a salacious grin on her face, Ruby interjected, "What kind of 'session' did she give you?"
That caused Emma to choke on her sake she had just taken a swig of. All three girls laughed and once Emma composed herself, she responded, "She's my doctor. There can't be anything between us. Besides, a woman like her would never have anything to do with someone like me."
Lily and Ruby looked at each other in silent conversation and then Ruby spoke up, "Emma, any woman would be lucky to have you. Don't sell yourself short. Yes, you've had a rough go, but you've fought back and survived. Maybe you can't have something with this doctor, but maybe there's someone else out there. Speaking of, tell me about your session with Jennifer Lawrence." Ruby wiggled her eyebrows up and down eluding to sexy times and Emma just shook her head while smiling.
"You're impossible, Rubes."
The rest of their evening was relaxing, but Lily couldn't shake what she had learned earlier. Emma could tell something was bothering her twin sister, but she left it alone for now, hoping Lily would come to her when she was ready.
Dr. Rojas was preparing for her second session with Emma Swan. She would be ready this time. She planned on recording her sessions with Emma from now on and had done research on cases she felt resembled Emma's; however, she still couldn't understand the imaginary aspect of Emma's story when she reverted to her younger self. Dr. Rojas was convinced that Emma's difficult life had caused her not only to revert to her younger self, but use imaginary characters to hide behind her traumas. She would be ready for a 5-year-old Emma this time and was determined to help Emma through her problems. Just thinking about the beautiful blonde caused her cheeks to flush, but she quickly snapped out of her haze and prepared the room for Emma's appointment.
Emma's file sat open on her desk and after she had laid out some bottled waters, toys, and turned on her essential oil diffuser and water fountain, she flipped through the pages again. Reading about Emma's trauma which Lily had shared with her made her think of her own daughter, who just a week ago, had tried to find her birth mother. Annie had been so upset about the experience and then Zelena had shared with her what the birth mother's sister had told her and she wondered if Emma would feel the same way if confronted with her child years later. Would she be willing to see her or would she feel she couldn't?
Rubbing her eyes and then pinching the bridge of her nose, the doctor sighed. "I really should start keeping some alcohol in my desk or mini fridge."
"Dr. Rojas, your next appointment is here.", could be heard on the phone speaker.
"Thank you, Carol. I'll be right there." The doctor took a steadying breath, straightened out the imaginary wrinkles in her blouse and then left to greet Emma in the waiting room.
When she walked into the waiting room, Emma looked up and a large smile spread across her face. She stared at the doctor like she hung the moon. She stood up and began to sign, "Good morning, Doc! How are you today?"
"I'm doing well, Emma. It's nice to see you again. Why don't you come in and we'll get started." She motioned for Emma to follow her down the hall again. This time, when Emma looked into the side office, the strange man from before was absent. Good Emma thought.
Once Emma entered the office and chose the same sofa to sit at, the therapist sat in front of her again and folded her hands on her lap. "How have you been doing with your exercises this week, Emma?"
Emma nodded and raised her hands, "I've been doing well. While I haven't made any voluntary sounds, I managed a little bit of sound while clearing my throat the other day which was new for me." Emma's smile and pride in herself lit up the room. It made the doctor's heart swell even more.
"That's wonderful, Emma! I'm so pleased. Perhaps we can have another breakthrough today then." Emma simply nodded and reached for the bottled water to take a sip. "Why don't get you get comfortable again, Emma. I believe you remember how we get this started." Emma nodded her head again and sat the bottled water down on the table. She then laid back to get into a more relaxed position and closed her eyes. The doctor had closed the blinds and dimmed the lights as she began walking behind the couch and then she began her routine of putting Emma into her trance. Remember your beach, Emma. Feel the water on your toes. Listen to the waves and feel the cool breeze lick your cheeks. Once she slowed her words and noticed Emma's eye movements, she finished with her usual instructions. "When I count to three, you'll wake up. Only this time, I want you to go back to a major trauma that occurred in your life. Take me back to that day. Put yourself in a spectator's spot. If I snap my fingers at any point, you'll be back on your beach, in your safe place. 1..2..3."
Emma's eyes shot open and she sat up stick straight. Her hands were on her legs as they squeezed her pants tight. She looked around confused and then to the doctor. "Oh, it's you again." She continued looking around in confusion, but kept checking back to the doctor.
Dr. Rojas was still shocked to hear the blonde speak so naturally again. This time, she didn't choke out her words because she had drunk the bottled water before the start of the session. She watched as Emma stood up and walked around the room, lightly touching the various items displayed on the side tables. This isn't the same Emma from last time. Her mannerisms are different. "Welcome back, Emma. It seems you remember me."
Nodding, the blonde continued to walk around until she stopped at the pile of toys in the corner. Eyebrows knitted together, she turned to the doctor, "What are these strange items?"
Dr. Rojas stood up and walked over to her, "Oh! These are toys."
"Toys. And these…toys are what children in your realm play with?"
My realm? What's she talking about? "Children often find these toys fun and relaxing."
"I see. And do you think these items are appropriate for someone my age?" Emma had a cocky look on her face as if she knew something the doctor did not.
"Something tells me no, Emma. How old are you?"
Snorting, Emma just shakes her head and walks back to the couch and drops down in a tired sigh, "I'm 16 years old as of yesterday." Emma grabbed the bottled water again and took a large gulp for her parched throat that wasn't used to working. "I believe you've mistaken me for my younger self whom you met the last time."
The doctor stood stunned, She remembers our previous session. How? Patients who have reverted to previous lives or past selves shouldn't be able to remember during a session. Clearing her throat, the doctor responded, "Forgive me. You've got me at a disadvantage. I was expecting to see your younger self again."
Emma scoffed, "Apparently. However, you asked me to go to a major trauma. That caused me to come." Emma sat back and crossed her legs matter of factly and then continued as if put out, "Why would you ask this of me?"
Dr. Rojas shifted uncomfortably being called out. She realized she had already lost her control on this session. "Your current self is struggling with a past trauma and unable to speak because of it. I'm trying to get her to face this trauma so she can move on with her life and begin healing."
Emma nodded in understanding and then looked around trying to understand how this room would help her. "I don't believe the trauma I suffered is related to the trauma causing her lack of voice. It may have contributed though."
That's right. Emma is actually 30 years old. Her trauma would have happened around 18 or 19 years. Dammit. As the doctor studied her patient, she then remembered her earlier words, "What did you mean by my realm? Where are you from?"
"Pfft. I thought you were listening to my younger self before. I'm from the Enchanted Forest." Emma replied while rolling her eyes.
Oh, here we go. So, some of the story has carried over. Interesting. "And your parents are Snow White and Prince Charming, correct?"
Another eye roll and Emma is now drumming her fingers, "Yeah. I mean, sort of." She began to look uncomfortable and squirmed in her seat.
Noticing the change, the doctor thought perhaps she was on to something. "What do you mean, sort of?"
"Well, they're two of my parents. I actually have a third."
"Oh! You mean an adoptive parent? You had mentioned your Granny last time."
Shaking her head fast and looking at the floor as tears welled in her eyes, Emma continued, "No. I have three biological parents. I just found out yesterday. And now my Granny is dead because of it! I'll never forgive them." Her face was getting redder as her anger grew. The doctor noticed her white knuckles as she grabbed the fabric of the couch. Nailed began making half-moons in the soft cloth.
"Take a few slow, deep breaths for me, Emma." The doctor tried guiding the young girl and then handed her the bottle of water again. "Take a sip and keep taking those breaths." Once Emma had calmed down and leaned back into the couch again, the doctor decided to delve deeper in hopes of discovering a meaning to this story. "Can you tell me what happened?"
Emma sat for a full minute staring at the coffee table between them as if trying to find the right words. Her grip on the bottle tightened and that's when she began. "This will be a long story and the beginning of it I heard from my Granny." The doctor stayed silent and nodded for her to continue.
"It all started the day I was born…"
Enchanted Forest 30 years ago
"I don't know about this, David." Snow White worriedly stared at the entrance to a cave.
"We have no choice, Snow. You heard what Blue said." Her husband, David, was determined after they were told of the possible future of their unborn daughter.
"It may not happen. I don't know that I'm comfortable taking another child and following through with this." Snow walked from the cave entrance and sat on a nearby boulder with her face in her hands.
Her fairy godmother, Blue, had warned them that their daughter would be born with darkness inside her. She'd be capable of a great evil. Trusting in the Blue Fairy's seer abilities, they panicked and came up with a plan. Granted the Blue Fairy planted the seed, the idea was to take the egg of a newly born dragon and magically transfer the darkness of their unborn child into the dragon the egg and then send the egg to a different realm; the realm with no magic. Their plan was accelerated due to the Evil Queen Regina's plan to cast The Dark Curse in revenge against Snow White.
"We have no choice, Snow. Regina will be casting the curse any day now. We must remove the darkness from our daughter. Blue said she would be the Savior that saves our people from this curse. We must act quickly." He doesn't wait for Snow's response and instead draws his sword and charges into the cave.
When David reaches the dragon's nest, he finds Cruella DeVille and Ursula standing in front of the nest. The dragon behind them begins to roar and slowly transforms back into her human form; Maleficent.
"Prince Charming. How dare you enter my cave." Maleficent snarls. The prince doesn't comment and instead reaches for a pouch of poppy dust tied to his belt and throws it towards the three ladies. All three are paralyzed and can only watch as David runs and grabs the egg from its warm nest. It is then, they notice Snow White entering in the back. Though unable to move, Maleficent appeals to the young princess, "Snow, please don't do this. I'm asking you, mother to mother, do not do this." She's crying and unable to wipe her tears away due to the poppy dust that was in the pouch and now has aerosolized.
Snow merely stands back and cries as she watches her husband steal the egg and struggle to carry its large size. "I'm so sorry. I have to do this for my child to remove her darkness."
"Come on, Snow. Let's go." David marches out of the cave and Snow chokes on tears as she hears Maleficent's wails as they leave.
"RUMPELSTILTSKIN!" Maleficent screamed.
The dark imp materialized in a cloud of black of smoke in front of the frozen ladies in the cave. "Well, well, well, what do we have here? You seem to have gotten yourself in a bit of a … bind." His wicked smile shows his rotted teeth.
"I need your help and I'll pay anything." Maleficent was still unable to move, but didn't care. She needed her egg back.
Ear perked up, "Anything?"
Unable to nod, the blonde woman growled out a "Yes. What is your price."
With his hand on his chin as if in thought, he slowly smiled with a glint in his eye, "I want one hair from you."
If she was able to move, Maleficent's face would be perplexed. "That's it? What's the catch?"
"No catch. Just one strand of hair from you and then I will help you."
Ursula spoke up from her frozen position, "Don't do it, Mal. You know he's tricky."
"She's right, Mal. Don't trust him." Cruella followed up. "He always has an ulterior motive. Who knows what he'll do with that hair."
"I DON'T CARE! I NEED MY EGG BACK!"
Rumple walked up to a frozen Maleficent and pulled one hair from her scalp and then waved his hands to remove the effects of the poppy dust. "Now, what is it you want?"
"The Charmings stole my egg with my daughter inside. The plan on transferring the darkness of their unborn child into my egg. I need you to stop them!" Maleficent then collapsed on her weak legs after having just given birth earlier in dragon form. Her magic was not working. Cruella and Ursula caught her and gently sat her down on the edge of the nest.
"Stop the Charmings. Very well." The Dark One disappeared in a similar cloud of black smoke.
The Blue Fairy walked around the egg and then turned to Snow, "We can begin, Snow, but I must ask again if you are sure about this. I must remind you that all magic comes with a price and we don't know what that price will be until it has been paid." While Blue thought this was the best course of action to ensure that Snow's child would be born pure, she also had a duty to her Princess to be honest about the perils of magic.
Snow swallowed hard and nodded, "I understand, Blue. Thank you for your honesty, my friend." Snow looked down and rubbed her large belly smiling, "Emma." David smiled as he heard the name they had chosen for their daughter and placed his hand on his wife's belly with hers.
The couple had returned and asked their dear friend, Eugenia, to attend the ritual and be there for Snow for moral support. Eugenia worked in the kitchens of the castle and helped Snow when she was on the run from the Evil Queen. Snow never forgot how she hid her and offered her a stable job in the castle. While they became close friends, Eugenia was having difficulty understanding Snow's reasoning for doing this. She didn't agree with taking a child from another mother and using that innocent child, however, she couldn't speak against the princess as she feared for her family if she did. Blue had Snow's ear and could sway the princess in any direction.
"Very well. Shall we begin?" Blue sprinkled blue fairy dust on Snow's belly and then on the egg while quietly chanting an incantation. White and black magic began rising from the egg and Snow's belly and merging together. The blue color of Blue's magic mingled with the gray combination as Blue's voice became louder as she chanted her spell.
"It seems I've come just in time."
Everyone turned to see Rumpelstiltskin and forming a large ball of black magic with sparks resembling lightening. Blue spoke faster trying to complete her spell as Rumple threw his ball of magic at the melded magic of gray and blue.
"NOOOOOOOOO!" Snow screamed while holding her belly protectively as Eugenia stood in front of her and David charged towards the imp.
Drawing his sword, David attempted to block the sparking black ball of magic before it could interfere with Blue's work, but when Rumple's magic hit his sword, he was thrown back several feet and knocked unconscious. The ball of magic continued its course and slammed into the combined magics of Blue's spell. Blue held out her hands in hopes of isolating the magics and controlling the contamination, but it was no use. The dark ball hit and swelled in size, consuming everyone present. After spreading 80 yards, the magical ball exploded and the five people inside were lying unconscious.
Rumple walked up to the site to retrieve the egg, but it was now missing. He then looked towards Snow and noticed her belly was flat. Confused, he studied the area where the egg once sat and noticed charred remains of and ash. "Damn." Technically I did what Mal asked. I stopped the Charmings.
He then disappeared.
A few minutes later, Snow regained consciousness and sat up. She rubbed her head and then looked around as her hands subconsciously found her belly. That's when she realized what had happened. She doubled over and screamed as she realized she was no longer with child. Her cries awoke the others who ran to her once they regained their bearings.
When Blue saw Snow's belly, she realized the price of the spell she had used, but conveniently Rumple had interfered. She knew the blame could be placed on the Dark One and used that to her advantage.
"I'm so sorry, Snow." Blue said as she placed her hand on the woman's shoulder.
"Why? Why would he do this?" Snow kept shaking her head and David rocked her in his arms. Eugenia walked around and studied the scene while listening to the conversation.
"I believe he was working for Maleficent. He had no reason to interfere otherwise." Blue snarled out.
David was fuming, his face growing redder. "We will find him and we will destroy him. The dragon and the Dark One will pay for this."
Eugenia remained silent, but turned towards the couple in shock. This was their doing, not the dragon's. They created this unfortunate situation and now two innocent children are dead. Shaking her head in disbelief, she walked back over to them. "Let's get you inside, Snow. You need to rest." She wanted to get back home to her granddaughter and hug her tight after what occurred here.
Nodding in agreement with Eugenia, Blue and David helped Snow to stand and took her to her chambers to rest. Eugenia made sure nothing else was needed of her and then she mounted her horse to go home.
As she approached her humble cottage, her 5-year-old granddaughter, Ruby, ran to greet her. "Granny!" Eugenia hopped down from her horse and gathered the child in her arms to hug her tight. Kissing her cheek, she leaned back and noticed the pack of wolves lying next to garden. "How was your day, Honey?"
"Good! The pack taught me how to search and then we practiced writing."
Eugenia and her granddaughter were werewolves so their senses were heightened. Eugenia wanted Ruby to learn to utilize her wolf abilities while in human form as well as be educated. She trusted the wolves to protect her granddaughter when she wasn't around.
"Why don't we go inside and have dinner. Are you hungry?"
"Yes!" Ruby ran over and hugged each wolf before running into the house. The wolves nodded to Eugenia and then walked back into the forest and disappeared.
When Eugenia walked into the cottage, she noticed a new scent. It was familiar, yet different. What is this? Noticing her grandmother put her nose in the air and sniffing, Ruby mimicked her. Confused, Ruby looked to her grandmother, "Granny, what's that smell?"
Eugenia didn't answer and instead followed her nose into the back storage room where she found the missing egg from earlier and an arm sticking out of its shell. The tiny hand was holding the tiny hand of a blonde newborn baby lying next to the egg.
Ruby gasped and ran over to the baby, "Granny! It's a baby! Look, there's another baby inside this egg!" Ruby knocked on the egg which caused it to crack further and allowed the baby inside to kick the shell open. Eugenia stood speechless as she stared at two newborns, identical in almost every way except hair color; one blonde and one brown.
"Incredible" The babies kept their hands linked and began to get restless so Eugenia picked up the brown headed girl first and dusted off the shell casing and yolk. "Ruby, please bring me some towels." Eugenia and Ruby cleaned the tiny girls and warmed them up in blankets once they were cleaned up. "They need to nurse." Eugenia debated on where to get milk and then realized her pack could help her. She walked outside and howled into the night. Within minutes, two wolves walked out of the forest and approached her. When they were 10 feet away, the wolves began changing into their human form and when they reached Eugenia, they were fully transitioned into two naked women.
"You called, Genie?" The blonde one asked.
"Yes. Please come in and I'll get you some clothes."
The two ladies followed inside and once dressed, were told of the day's events. While retelling the story, each child nursed on the two female werewolves. The blonde baby on the blonde woman and the brown-haired baby with the brunette woman. This was nothing new to Ruby who watched them since she'd seen these women nursing their own pups before.
When Eugenia finished her story, the brunette woman spoke first. "Genie, you can't tell them you have these babies. It would put them both in danger."
"I know, but by not telling them, I'm committing treason, Liv."
The blonde then spoke up, "It's only treason if you are caught. We can raise them as our own. These pups will be a part of our pack. No one will ever know."
Eugenia smiled as she watched the two babies close their eyes once they were burped from their full bellies. "I will need your help. They need to nurse for several months and I still need to work in the castle."
"I'm already in love, Genie. Let the pack help you. Let us help you. We will raise them with Ruby. They can be sisters."
"Thank you, Cassy." Eugenia watched the Cassy kiss the blonde infant's head and smell her. "She smells so good. I love that baby smell."
Liv did the same with her baby and took a deep breath, "Mmmm."
Ruby wondered what the big deal was so she walked up and smelled the blonde baby's head, "Mmm, she does smell good! How come babies smell like that, Granny?"
All three women laughed, "They just do, child." Eugenia patted her lap motioning for Ruby to come sit in it and once the little girl was there, she asked, "Do you think you're ready to be a big sister?"
Nodding quickly, Ruby's eyes sparkled. "Yes! I can't wait to play with them and teach them what I learned!" Looking at the babies, Ruby's expression grew curious, "What are their names?"
Eugenia realized she hadn't thought about that. "Well, the blonde baby was to be named Emma."
Cassy looked down at the blonde baby and kissed her head again and whispered, "Emma."
Eugenia then looked at the brown-haired baby. "And the baby from the egg was to be named Lily."
"Lily." Liv kissed the baby's head and smelled her again while smiling.
Ruby got off her Granny's lap and walked over. "It's nice to meet you, Emma and Lily."
Present Day – Emma's Session
"So your Granny decided to raise you and Lily. Based on your story, Lily is a dragon and your parents are The Charmings. I'm afraid I don't understand how you have three parents." Dr. Rojas was enthralled with Emma's tall tale.
Emma let out a heavy sigh, "Now that you have the backstory, we can answer that with what happened yesterday on my birthday."
