(A/N): Hey Guys! So, I got it wrong in the Author's note of the last chapter, this chapter is from Elaine and Remus's PoV, not just Elaine's. It's also a little shorter than the last one.
By the way, the TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARYof this story is in like, three and a half days, so I'll try to put out more chapters to celebrate. If you have any suggestions of what you would like to see in the next couple of chapters, feel free to send something in. :D
Disclaimer: I own nothing you recognise.
Elaine
After reaching the Great Hall just as lunch was starting, Brooke moved away to sit with her friends and, by what I assume was great planning on the Marauders behalf, I ended up wedged between Leo and Peter, who was completely ignoring me in favour of the chicken wings that had appeared in front of him.
"So, is this the first time, you've had to sleep in the Room of Requirement due to my stupidity?" I asked Leo, and he raised an eyebrow at me, looking vaguely surprised.
"You slept in my bed last night?" I frowned, more than slightly confused.
"So.. what, you went straight to the Room of Requirement after you left last night?" He shrugged slowly, looking slightly guilty before hiding it effectively.
"Well no, not straight there. I went to visit Brooke, then crashed." I furrowed my eyebrows at him for a minute, but he was pretending to focus on the sandwich he was nibbling.
"And were you alone when you 'crashed'?" I asked him quietly, and he paused for a second before shrugging.
"Maybe... Maybe not." My stomach twisted, and I tried to force that pang of jealousy away.
"And why did you leave in the first place?" I questioned, and he eyed me in a smug sort of manner.
"Because Remus likes you," Remus's head lifted at the mention of his name. "And you two deserve each other."
Remus
Knowing how Leo felt about Elaine, how much he loved her, it made my heart both soften upon hearing that- and how much he thought of me if he thought I deserved her- and harden at the fact he though he didn't deserve her instead.
"Shut up, Leo." i told him, completely calmly and straight faced, and his eyebrows shot up as he met my eyes from across the table.
"What?" He asked, shining his big blues and honestly looking confused.
"You like her- more than like her, but I won't get into that here- And you deserve her just as much if not even more than I do. So shut. Up." Our friends eyed me somewhat warily, whereas Elaine was pretending to be very interested in a loose thread on her shirt, cheeks flushed bright red.
"Remus-" I held up a finger, cutting him off.
"Shh, shh... Let's just have a silent moment where you aren't unbelievably down on yourself, okay?" He stared at me for a minute, and I knew the second his face turned calm, maybe even bored, that I had said the wrong thing.
"Yeah, okay." His voice sounded incredibly blank, and I started to back pedal.
"Leo-" He cut me off, standing up.
"I'll see you guys at dinner. I need to go eat." Lily held up the drumstick in her hand towards his back as if in question, but he was already gone.
"Look." Elaine said, catching my attention and mine alone as she stared after Leo, and we both watched as Brooke jumped up to follow him.
"I shouldn't have said that." She shrugged weakly, gnawing on her bottom lip.
"It needed to be said."
