Chapter 5
Stefan could feel the change in the air. His many times' great nephew was asleep in his own room. The vampire could hear his last living relative's heartbeat with a huge sense of relief. There is a second person in the house, another heartbeat. Slower than the first…not human. Using his enhanced vampire speed, the Salvatore found the door to his room opened, and standing by the desk reading his journal was his older brother.
"Damon," Stefan greeted his sibling with little enthusiasm.
"Damn, Stefan. Elena really is a ringer for Katherine, huh? Does being around her make you feel alive?" Damon teased with his ever-present smirk, holding a picture of Elena Stefan had taken from afar.
"She's not Katherine," Stefan answered, eyeing his brother warily. His brother's hair was cut shorter than before, his leather jacket well used, worn. His eyes were a jewel-like quality that did nothing to hide the madness. Stefan could hardly remember a time Damon was not lost to his demons.
Glimpses whenever Stefan thought they might get past the Katherine debacle.
"Time will tell," Damon smirked, using his off-putting attitude to hide the anger at the living reminder of his lost love. His great love that was desiccated in the old church all thanks to his father. His mind shook the stray thought bringing him back to that night on the bridge, his curiosity over a girl that looked like his clever beloved, but held a innocence and life that Katherine never had.
No.. Damon would not go there.
Like her ancestor, Elena was beautiful. Damon understood the attraction. Hell, he felt drawn to her like a moth to a flame. Yet Damon refused to forget about poor Katherine, despite the underlying anger at her for using both him and his brother. How many times had he asked her to turn him? By the time he had gotten his wish, Damon didn't want it, but then Stefan refused to be alone.
Now here they both were.
"Why are you here Damon?" Stefan growled, fighting the urge to throw his brother into the wall. Damon wanted to laugh. His younger brother was so easy to rile up. His brother, who couldn't control himself around human blood, morally convinced that drinking from animals the only way to survive.
Part of Damon wanted to hug the demon blonde that his brother was so fond of. A more significant amount hated her for telling him to stay away. What did that say about him that he agreed? He hadn't forgiven Stefan, but that didn't mean he didn't miss him. Watching him struggle with who he was, what he chose to become was difficult for him.
"Tell me, Stefan. When was the last time you had something other than a squirrel?" His brother's diet made him weaker. The need to feed must be a constant thought. Animal blood was not satisfying in the least. His brother always slipped; it was the one thing he and Lexi disagreed on.
His brother would slip, overfeed and feel horrible. Then he would go on a suicidal binge that would require Damon to hunt down fucking Lexi to help fix. Because Damon did not do fixes, nor did he think Stefan would accept his help. That was if she hadn't already found him.
"Damon," Stefan growled. "You can't stay here. Especially if you plan on attacking people so close to town. Animal Attacks can only go so far"
Holding back a chuckle, Damon taunted his brother, "Come on, brother. Is it so hard to admit? You want a taste of her blood."
"Enough!" Stefan roared, throwing himself onto his brother. Stefan felt his brother's hands on his as they flew out of the window together. He groaned as the momentum threw him into the ground while he could feel his brother push himself away and land farther away.
"I give that a six," His brother grinned. "You need to work on your flair. You haven't lost your vampire face; that's something at least."
"Did you attack that girl?" Stefan asked, wiping the dirt from his face as he used his knee to steady himself, lifting himself off the floor. "In the woods tonight."
"Yeah, so?" Damon scoffed. "The bloody bint got away. Still perfectly alive."
"You can't be here, Damon. People die around you" Stefan looked over at his brother, pleading for his older brother to listen for once. He was tired of having to move whenever Damon caught up to him, particularly if he was feeling vengeful. Every few decades, Damon would give him some peace.
"I'm a vampire, Stefan. Feeding on people is what I do. It doesn't mean I kill every single one of them" Damon shrugged unapologetically.
"Not here, you don't" The younger Salvatore shook his head. "Please, Damon. Hasn't this gone on for long enough?"
"I distinctively remember promising you an eternity of misery. As your older brother, it's my duty to keep my promises. Hey, what's the deal with the blonde?" He hadn't been in town very long, but he knew the blonde he tried to chat up was involved with Elena Gilbert.
"Blonde?" Stefan asked uneasily.
"You know blonde, teenager, preppy was followed around by bombshell blonde and a pesky brunet of a man they were siblings? I've also seen her with your precious Elena."
"Caroline Forbes. The sheriff's daughter. Damon, she isn't someone you want to mess with" Stefan shook his head. "Not if we want to stay under the radar. Besides, I believe she is firmly taken by the bombshell's brother."
So the goody two shoes was a police woman's daughter, huh? That doesn't explain the way the other two seemed attached to the hip to the blonde. It was too bad; Damon thought he could have had a bit of fun with her. Bonus points for annoying the hell out of both Elena and Stefan. If he couldn't use the blonde to make his point to his brother, then he would simply find another way.
"Too bad. She was pretty," Damon shrugged.
"You are going to leave her alone, right?" Stefan asked. He held a handful of conversations with the blonde. She was helpful and so full of life that he would hate to see her get hurt.
"Stefan, does it look like I have trouble getting girls? That doesn't mean I can't try to change her mind" Damon grinned. Stefan couldn't help but feel like his heart plummeted. He knew how his brother worked. He got fixated on things, especially women like Katherine.
Stefan knew what his brother was not saying. Damon first and foremost wanted to see him suffer, add the fact Damon knew Elena, who looked like Katherine. Damon would do anything to get under his skin. The fact that Caroline now seems to have rejected him.
Stefan was concerned just how far Damon would go to make him miserable.

As it turned out, there were a few cheer spots open. During the first week of October, as promised, the head cheerleader held try-outs. It was sunny outside. Allowing the student body to enjoy themselves before winter truly set in. Rebekah had walked onto the field with her brother by her side. Several other girls were beginning to stretch out onto the part of the field being used by the squad on the field.
"Bekah, are you sure you want to do this?" Kol asked as he casually tilted his head to the side to give himself a better look of a cheerleader passing by. Scowling, the blonde hit her brother in the arm, soft enough to not cause the humans around them alarm.
"This is the first chance I've had at a modern human teenager experience, Kol. Besides, I told Elijah that this would allow us to protect Caroline better," Rebekah answered smugly.
"After all the years you've been alive. High School Cheerleading is how you are going to choose to spend it?" Kol shook his head. "You are not fooling anyone with your Project-Caroline fib sister."
"There are vampires other than us in Mystic Falls, Kol," Rebekah hissed. "Stefan might not remember us, but you and I both know how the supernatural world works."
"Mystic Falls has been known to attract the supernatural creatures," Kol shrugged. "It's half the reason we are here to ensure no other supernatural misfortune should fall upon either Caroline or the doppelganger."
The original sister glowered at her brother as Kol snorted at the disgusted look on the blonde's face at the mention of the doppelganger. Rebekah slapped the vampire on the shoulder, hissing retribution. "You just hate that Katerina was hotter than you. Now you're taking it out on her descendent," Kol chuckled.
Rebekah rolled her eyes, "I am not that petulant."
"You invited our father to New Orleans just because Nik was against you and Marcellus," Kol muttered to himself as Rebekah beamed when Caroline's figure could finally be spotted among the swarm of cheerleaders. The blonde in question raised her hand, waving Rebekah forward.
Looking over her shoulder, Rebekah whispered, "I thought we were over that."
"You got me daggered for a century!" Kol pouted. "You know Nik seems to enjoy daggering his beloved siblings far too much?"
"I was daggered shortly after you even if you for once didn't deserve it" Rebekah for once looked regretful. "I never meant to get you daggered."
Kol looked over at his sister and let out an exasperated sigh. "When you look like that, I can't fully enjoy the agony I plan on enforcing you to endure. What're a few secrets between siblings?"
The youngest Mikaelson brother watched as his sister joined their brother's girlfriend. Kol felt his lips twitch at the word, and mortals indeed were strange creatures always needing to put labels on things. Mortals did like things orderly, and with an explanation. Well the ones they could accept. History was full of examples of what happens when the humans with weapons didn't like the answers they received.
A loud shout caused Kol to look over on the other side of the field, in which the other new student, Stefan Salvatore, was talking with the coach. Smirking, the male original strutted, overusing his enhanced hearing to sneak in on their conversation. One eye stayed with Rebekah as he learned about Stefan's attempts at joining the team while the local quarterback growled at the man.
Kol chuckled; this was the ripper his brother was so fond of speaking about? Unable to tell that fellow vampires were around. His eyes strayed towards the cheerleaders, already bored with the football team's smack talk about Stefan. Rebekah was stretching alongside the other hopefuls as those on the cheer team stood on the opposite side with notebooks in hand as Caroline began her speech.
"Alright, Ladies, this is how the try-outs are going to go. First Bonnie here," Caroline pointed to Bonnie, who waved half-heartedly, laughing at the way the blonde glared at her for her lackluster.
Bonnie, as always, was sitting next to Elena as they shared a laugh over the seriousness of Caroline's speech. Neither girl thought that cheer was all that important despite being on the team. It was something that Caroline had suggested, something that would look good on college transcripts in a few years and allowed them to spend more time together.
"Bonne will show you the routine you will be learning. Do your best to follow along; being on this team means having to learn cheers quickly," Caroline said seriously, looking over each recruit scrutinizing them from head to toe.
"We want to make it to nationals again this year. For that to happen, I need to pick the best. We are not just here to play pretty around the football field during games. We are athletes. If you are here just to flirt with the football team, get the hell out now" Caroline barely glanced at a few girls who shuffled around in the back and walked off.
Caroline offered the remaining girls a smirk, "Think I can't tell your intentions? Don't underestimate the blonde. Now Bonnie!"
Rolling her eyes, Bonnie jumped up as Elena offered her a small smile. As Caroline pressed the play button onto the set of speakers, a dance mix started to play. Bonnie went through the routine with precision, casually looking around the recruits taking a mental note of those who seemed lost versus those who nodded with determination. To her surprise, the new girl Rebekah's eyes were the most determined of all.
"Alright, ladies get up, and let's see what you are made of," Caroline said before starting the eight counts. Standing beside Bonnie as they go through the routine together, the recruits attempting to follow along. Already knowing her role, Elena stands up with a few other girls to watch the recruits and pick out the ones who would not make the first cut.
Tapping shoulder after shoulder, Elena and her fellow cheer squad had eliminated a third of the contestants. Once Elena offered a shallow nod, Caroline turned around and smiled. "Congrats to those of you still on the field. You've passed the first cut."
Rebekah beamed at her from her spot amongst the recruits. Kol could hear her laughing along with a few girls who patted her on the back. Rolling his eyes, Kol couldn't help but overhear Elena muttering something to herself.
"Was the new girl even that good?" Elena mumbled to Bonnie. The black beauty raised a brow, " Caroline didn't kick her to the curb so she must have passed muster."
As Caroline is finishing up giving orders to the girls to come back the next day for round two, Elena didn't notice the blonde had finished and was indeed walking up behind her. "It's just Rebekah has been here a few days. We just started the school year, and already it's like she is trying to step into Caroline's shoes. I'm worried. Caroline doesn't handle competition well."
"I love competition, Elena," The blonde called out, alerting her childhood friend to the fact that they had indeed heard her. Much to Elena's chagrin, the blonde was standing beside Rebekah. Both young women held inquisitive looks. However, Rebekah's look of curiosity also had an edge of something darker.
What did Elena ever do to her?
"Caroline!" Elena gasped. "I just meant that-" The brunette stuttered, not knowing how to twist her words around in a way that wouldn't land with Caroline passive-aggressively hating her guts for the next month.
"Elena was just pointing out that the two of you share a lot of the same hobbies," Bonnie offered, eyeing Elena with a get with the program look. The black-haired girl was happy that Caroline didn't seem as competitive with Elena for once. It looks like the attention of whoever this Nik is was doing the trick. The last thing Bonnie wanted was for Caroline to distance herself. Now that she was finally coming into her own, and Bonnie didn't need to play the best listener in the world to both Elena's grief and Caroline's insecurity for the first time since Elena's parents died.
"We do share a lot of qualities," Rebekah confirmed, wrapping an arm around Caroline as the blonde raised an eyebrow. "In fact, it was Caroline who suggested I join most of the clubs. My parents preferred an insular educational environment. My older brothers thought Kol and I at least deserved a taste of normal life when they took over things."
Elena's face immediately took on an empathetic look, "I'm sorry, I didn't know your parents passed away."
Rebekah shrugged, "We didn't have the closest of relationships. I never had a sister, so it is why I'm so happy that I get along with Caroline. The fact that she is willing to show me the best of what public high school is like is just gracious of her."
Caroline's childhood best friends could only nod in agreement as Elena deflated. Thinking that Caroline would be irritated that the blonde seemed to be after her crown. Instead, Caroline seemed to bask in the fact someone wanted to join the planning committees.

Elijah stood in front of a grey door, leading to a penthouse of one of the luxury hotels his sister Rebekah and himself owned. One of the witches under contract with him had alerted to Katherine's current whereabouts. Elijah decided it was time to enact his plan, if all went according to plan would give him what he wanted. Niklaus was rather skeptical of the plan but agreed to allow Elijah to handle all things Katerina Petrova on the condition she would cause their family no more trouble. Elijah decided to act upon his brother's generosity before he decided to deal with Katherine himself.
"Elijah," The vampire purred before him. The curly haired brunette leaned against the door wearing a silky red robe and heels. "Aren't you a surprise?"
"Katerina" Elijah replied. "It's been a while I believe this looks much better on you rather than the fashion of the 30's."
Katherine pushed herself to standing, "What are you doing here? Weren't you the one to say you could no longer continue this arrangement?"
"Let's just say the situation has changed," Elijah side stepped the question with ease. His eyes locked onto Katherine's, "Are you going to invite me in? Or do you prefer to see how open-minded humans are today?"
With an eye roll Katherine opened the door allowing him entry, "As if I could truly keep you out."
"I'll always give you a choice, Katerina" Elijah murmured stepping over the threshold closing the door behind him. "But this is a conversation you will want to have."
Elijah watched at the sultry vampire sashayed over towards the couch, having booked the penthouse crossing her legs. Her hands gripped a wine class filled with a red liquid, "Well what errand are you on today?"
Elijah's eyes raked down her form, his eyes darkened at Katherine's smirk widened. Elijah carefully stepped closer to the opposing couch, as he took his spot across from his target. "Shall we speak plainly?"
"If you prefer" Katherine shrugged. "It's not like I could hide from you. Your brother however…"
"You are a fool if you think we were truly looking for you. I will admit you made a valent attempt but we did always find you when you managed to slip away" Elijah cut her off, his voice never rising just above a whisper.
"What do you want Elijah?" Katherine asked.
"Now the answer to that is complicated. I have wanted many things over the years" Elijah answered with a smirk as his eyes scanned her body. "However currently some of my wants have been satisfied."
Katherine raised a brow, "Surely if you were sexually satisfied you wouldn't be here with me. Alone."
"I've been reunited with my siblings," Elijah informed the vampire, enjoying the shock on her face. He watched as her eyes widened, her mouth formed a circle and waited as he watched her digust the information he had given her.
"Which siblings?" Katherine asked. "Rebekah's always hated me. It can't be her your always catering-"
"Katerina Elijah growled. "Be careful of how you speak about my siblings."
Katherine stilled looking at him, trying to figure out what he is hiding. She has spent nearly 500 years finding moments of peace with this man, before the call of his family always drew him away. If what he said was true, then his brother knew Elijah had been with someone he considered an enemy. Or were those moments Elijah said she had escaped his nose?
Suddenly Katherine Pierce felt angry. Her anger felt like a fire being fed a consist strain of oxygen, of coal. She spent 500 years never fully being comfortable, always knowing Klaus could come at any time and fulfill his need for revenge. Despite having accomplished his goal by killing her loved ones. Katherine had never been happier for her father's disgust at her behavior.
His disgust had saved her daughter. The sole member of her family Katerina had never spoken about. "Even after all this time you choose them" Katherine shook her head.
"Finn's undaggered" Elijah smirked at the way Katherine's lips puckered in shock.
"Finn? The poster child for Mama's boy? How? As I recall Finn is the Mikaelson least happy with vampirism yet unable to end it" Katherine's brow furrowed in thought. "And what does this have to do with me?"
"Niklaus has a pleasant influence in his life. I do believe it's under this influence that he didn't put up a fight when Finn left to find Sage."
Katherine's eyes lightened up as her lips tilted into a playful smile "The Bad Wolf in a relationship? You lie."
"I believe I said he had a pleasant influence not that he was in a relationship" Elijah countered clasping his hands together.
Katherine took a sip from her glass. "This is Klaus Mikaelson we are talking about. While I certainly cannot entertain a woman being enough, he is still a man. A monster but still very much a man and men tend to think with their cocks."
"I'm afraid I cannot verify your ideas. I came here because Klaus wishes to discuss a deal with you."
Katherine didn't respond right away. She sipped on her glass taking a hard look at the man before her. Elijah Mikaelson looked the same as ever. No matter the era Elijah Mikaelson always looked like a nobleman, no one in any era would ever assume his breeding was less than impeccable. But was not his flawless looks that had drawn her to him. As a human she had been drawn to his gentle nature, loyalty to his family. Something she had never experienced before.
He also never lied; the man had mastered his words to the point most were uncapable of discovering what he kept hidden. She was the same but she learned. Now Katherine had learned, molded her own weapons until she was sure she could go toe to toe with him.
With a smile she purred, "I'm listening."

The youngest member of the Forbes family raced home much to the amusement of her two personal bodyguards. For what else could you call two immortal vampires attending the high school of their brother's girlfriend? Caroline waved Kol and Rebekah goodbye, thinking that Nik was ridiculously overprotective.
Sure, this was the birth spot of vampirism, where his family was both killed and reborn, but that didn't mean it was a hotspot for vampire activity. Inserting her key into the door, Caroline opened the door, not bothering to call out for her mother. She would already be out at work; a fact of life Caroline has long been forced to accept. The blonde immediately went to her room, throwing her backpack onto her bed as she opened her closet. Reaching up high for a white box, Caroline hurrahed when her hands grasped the edge of the box.
In her hands was a key essential part of Caroline's plans for her future. Smiling, Caroline opened the box inside; there was a binder full of various research she has kept since deciding on this course of action. Underneath the binder were samples of cloth and lists of ideas for every section of the Miss Mystic Falls pageant.
Caroline looked up in the middle of her pursual when the familiar ringtone alerted her to her ringing cellphone. Quickly picking it up once, she saw the caller id, "Nik!"
"Sweetheart," Caroline felt butterflies in her stomach once again at hearing his voice. Carefully tucking her phone in between her shoulder and ear, she continued, " How is your super-secret plan that you refuse to tell me anything about?"
"I have no idea what you are talking about, darling," Klaus denied with ease, but Caroline could practically see him smiling through the phone. He always talked about how he enjoyed the way people underestimated her, the way she could pick up on subtle clues without others saying a thing.
"Nik, you have minions. People do not have minions without having some sort of plan," Caroline pointed out. "From your own history lessons, supernatural factions do not easily mix, meaning you got your witches to agree for a price. Nik, just how illegal is this plan?"
"What makes you think it is illegal? I have plenty of legal businesses," Klaus questioned pleasantly, hesitating on how much of the truth to share. After all, Rebekah and Kol have confirmed Caroline's affection for the new doppelganger.
"Nik, you are not as secretive as you like to believe," Caroline laughed. "I just want you to be careful… I might understand why some things you all on do are not up and up, but others will not, and I was counting on you to be my escort to the Miss Mystic Falls pageant."
Caroline blushed, realizing how silly the last part of her answer sounded, only to hear Nik chuckle on the other end of the phone. "I have the pageant date saved. I will be there to escort you."
"You'll have to learn the dance."
"Caroline, I will be there fully prepared," Nik chuckled as Caroline heard sounds from a construction site in the background.
"Nik, why are you in a construction site?"
"Because Mystic Falls does not have houses that are up to par with my siblings' standards of living," Nik answered dryly. "Speaking of Mystic Falls. Do you have dinner plans?"

"So, you found the doppelganger" Katherine mused to herself. "I was truly shocked that a baby managed to be missed by the great Klaus Mikaelson."
Elijah looked Katherine in the eye, "Your family's insistence on keeping your condition hush hush seems to have behooved us."
"I tried looking for her you know," Katherine admitted. "After I found my family. He didn't mention her. I thought perhaps her being adopted out had saved her but then I couldn't manage to find her. I didn't know what to think."
"Your bloodline remains strong" Elijah murmured.
Katherine scoffs, "that young thing is destined for tragedy being born in this town."
"My younger siblings were born here," Elijah countered.
"So, you see my point" Katherine smirked. "I highly doubt Mystic Falls dear founding families would be pleased to remember this land was already inhabited."
"What do you say Katherine? As fun as this idle chatter is will you agree to the deal?" Elijah asked firmly. His eyes gave nothing away. Katherine would have to look deeper if she wanted a measure of his emotions.
"I'm surprised your brother isn't demanding I be a sacrifice" Katherine huffed. "Be as it may I've already made plans once I learned of my descendent."
"It's a good deal, Katherine. You'll have your freedom" Elijah continued, Katherine hated how she couldn't read his eyes. He was being stubborn.
"Klaus is really in a committed relationship?" Katherine asked skeptically, she would rather move their game to more enjoyable ventures.
"Katherine, I will not verify gossip for you," Elijah sighed. "Klaus allowed me to be the one to deliver this message. You know he is not patient."
Katherine nodded, "I'm well aware of his limits. But I won't accept the deal unless I am truly free, it must be for eternity."
"Katherine that would be pardoning you for future crimes. You'll only be pardoned for leaving before the ritual and becoming a vampire when he required your blood" Elijah informed her firmly. "This is all he can offer you, Katherine."
"I wish you Mikaelsons were a bit dumber. However, I'm not surprised Klaus was not the only paranoid Mikaelson I've met."
"Katherine, we have Rebekah and Kol playing teenagers in the town. Their job is to watch over the doppelganger, who has befriended your old flame from what I'm told. Nothing will get in the way of my brother this time."
Katherine hummed, "I knew he had gone back to town. It seems the old draw is still the same."
"Wasn't he the brother you had to compel?" Elijah asked as he stood walking towards her, offering his hand.
"Jealousy is a good look on you, Mikaelson," Katherine smirked taking his hand, closing in the distance. "If I agree to this plan does this mean we can play?"
"You have never needed to compel a man, Katerina. You are beautiful and far more intelligent than most" Elijah stars at her.
"You act like I broke a rule" Katherine laughed. "Since when have you cared? As if you or your siblings have not compelled humans before."
"My brothers may occasionally play with their food, but the compulsion was never used to get them into bed" Elijah whispered dangerously his grip tightened around her arms. "My siblings and I have killed…millions at this point. We compelled to keep them from screaming never for sexual pleasure. Klaus is fond of Stefan you know."
"Elijah" Katherine pleaded. "He meant nothing. He felt the full but his loyalty to his brother…."
Elijah shook his head, "You seem to have a thing for brothers. Katerina you enjoy bringing down siblings."
Katherine growled, "I only lowered his inhibitions he would have never acted on them otherwise."
Elijah tilted her head, "You still took his choice away. Don't you think that effected his vampire life? You've kept watch on him…your obsession."
"You're telling me 500 years later you vampires have standards?" Katherine scoffed not pulling away from his touch. "Klaus who spent a measly few months with Stefan? Are you telling me that man is upset with me how I handled Stefan as a human?"
"My siblings and I are monsters" Elijah allowed. "We've never needed to use compulsion to get a partner into bed. Katerina you are far too beautiful to need to stoop to such levels. Before people stop turning a blind eye."
"I take what I want" Katherine murmured locking eyes with the original. "The only way to escape your brother was to become a vampire and I promised I would be the one to do the using."
"I had a plan if you had only been patient. I loved you enough to go against my brother's wishes. I had wanted to bring you into the fold eventually."
"Only a Mikaelson can be a Mikaelson" Katherine snapped. "I would never have been safe!"
"I tried to save you and my brother. You ran away."
"You lied to me" Katherine reminded him finally stopping her squirming. "Are you really telling me a vampire your brother spent a mere few months with is more important than even you?"
Elijah chuckled, "No of course not. But Katherine you also made them into vampires and ran away. The Salvatore's were your responsibility. Every major mistake will land on your feet, so I would make sure you start to rectify your mistakes."
"I never had help" Katherine spat.
Elijah kissed her brutally, Katherine let out a moan wrapping her arms around him. She felt it when he pressed her into the wall, letting out a moan as his lips pressed into her neck. "You knew about vampires, knew how we kept it a secret. Rose should have kept you near, would have to if you didn't insist on running. "
"Elijah" Katherine sighed in pleasure as his teeth dug into her skin. "Enough talking. What's done is done."
Elijah pulled away much to her disappointment. She glared at him as he fixed his collar. "You know the deal. Part of that is helping clean up the mess your protégée's made. Even originals had to educate those we turned Katherine."
With that he turned and walked away leaving a gawking Katherine in his wake.
