Mecha Sonic would make his way over to the Labyrinth Zone. Able to track and locate Longclaw's house through memories alone.

With Lindsey and her gang of mercenaries plus their little army of robots off to cause a ruckus elsewhere to keep that wolf's team preoccupied elsewhere, he just has to get to his prime target and waste him. He knows for a fact that he's in no position to defend himself. Easy pickings for the bloodthirsty machine.

Though, that owl Longclaw could be a problem and might be standing guard with her "child" as much as it makes him nauseous as a spawn of Julian but he believes he can easily take her on. Defeat her in combat. She's a decade older since his host last met her and unlike himself, she isn't exempt from natural entropy that comes with age.

He doubts she'd be that much of a threat to him and he could go through her house to obtain whatever great secrets she's kept from them both like perhaps a set of lost islands housing an awesome source of power ripe for his taking, a bag of Warp Rings or perhaps gain the knowledge to produce a time rift portal by himself with a Chaos Emerald and use the portal to go back to warn his creator of Snively's tampering of the Ultimate Annihilator. Change the past to ensure a more desirable outcome to his liking.

The metal hedgehog spies the entrance to the house and approaches the property cautiously, priming his weapons while rain starts to pour from the skies. As he neared the house and walked up the steps to it, he wondered where that bird was.

Reaching a hand out to the front door and pushing it back, he'd only catch a glimpse of Sonic before something swiftly knocks him away from the house. Landing on his feet and coming face to face with a giant owl that stood at the entrance.

"You're the one that's been plaguing my student in his dreams..." Longclaw was not pleased to see the Badnik on her property, much less see him. "You're a twisted imitation made in contempt for the one that inspired your creation."

"Wow. Just wow…" Mecha Sonic let out a harsh, metallic laugh. "So you love that punk ass failure of a hero like a son yet you treat me like I'm some unholy monstrosity despite being cut from the same cloth as him."

"That's because you are one automaton." The Knight of Sophocles did not mince her words nor hid her contempt for the one that sought to ruin her child's life. You are nothing but an abomination forged in cruelty, disdain and spite by a wicked man with a hatred for all that good in the world. Your entire being is sprouted from evil."

"Aww… It really does hurt coming from you dear mother…" The metal hedgehog did a mocking tear wipe under one of his red optics. "Guess Sonic was right to tell you to your face that you ain't his mother and never will be. A real nag for his liki—"

"Don't bother trying to play those mind games with me. I know your tricks and you'll only be wasting your energy."

Mecha Sonic clenched his fists, optics narrowing and a shark-like grin. "Heh… Then that just leaves me with more energy to make a feather headdress and cape out of your cold dead carcass."

The owl assumed a defensive stance. "I do not fear the hollow threats of an insecure ill-mannered imp."

The metal hedgehog and the owl warrior stared each other down. One waiting for the other to make the first move until Mecha's impatience prompts him to act and engage with the Last Knight of Sophocles. The owl was more than ready for him.

"...When I send you down to Hell, say hi to Kirk for me."

With no way to call on his allies for help, Akira 'Gadget' Amamiya really thought he was done for. Even with his grappling hook, he couldn't outpace the guns on Lindsey's gunship that are pointing at him and she would just have him blasted away faster than he could draw on his gear.

Then, like an act of divine intervention, the turret pointed at the red wolf got shot off in just one hit by a piercing round followed by a second to one of the missile pods on Lindsey's side. The pilot had to quickly eject the damaged pod away from the gunship before it exploded a moment later. It didn't take him long to find a familiar pink echidna with a metal arm and a rifle in her hands up on a nearby treetop as the culprit.

"You go first sweetheart!" Julie-Su yelled at the Dark Legion Gunship as the rocket pod on the pilot rotated the ship around to shoot a missile at her and she quickly got moving to escape being blown to bits when it struck the tree she was on. Proceeding to run and gun at the ship while the latter tries to get a shot at her with one of the rear-mounted turrets.

"Waste her you gormless moron!"

The echidna gave the wolf all the time he needed to get out of the spot he was just in a moment ago and start taking shots at the airborne ship with his set of weapons. A blaster pistol and a Burst Wispon.

"The forest!" Gadget yelled out to Juile-Su and the pair worked together to lure over the ship towards the more populated forested area. Using the trees to even the odds with their airborne foe.

The gunship was firing off its arsenal of weapons in trying to hit either mobian but either they moved faster than they could hit them or were using the local terrain to their advantage. That didn't sit well with Lindsey whatsoever.

"How about you try actually hitting them instead of wasting our ammo!?" Lindsey vented at the pilot inside the cockpit. "We're not trying to hit a blue hedgehog here!"

"I'm trying!" The pilot responded back, failing to nail Julie-Su when she dodged another turret shot from him and took out said turret a moment later. "I can't get a good shot on either of them and these damn trees are in the way!"

"Fine, I'll show you how to do it properly!" The redhead took control of the on-board weaponry on her side and started unloading on her targets with Gadget particularly getting the brunt of her concentrated hostilities. She's going to kill that four-eyed wolf one way or another.

It dawned on Mecha Sonic at how badly he had underestimated Longclaw's combat prowess when she managed to break off one of his metal quills thanks to a well-placed talons jab and grabbed said quill to jab it into the left silver disk by his jaw just a moment before he backs off from her. Said quill punctured it with some coolant liquid proceeding to leak out of it like it was blood.

He figured the owl would be slower due to her age but he clearly miscalculated in that department. His verbal taunts fell on deaf ears and she no-sells his attempts to get under her skin. Whoever this woman is that helped raise his progenitor, he's really starting to dislike her more than any other opponent he's gone up against.

Mecha Sonic pulled out the broken quill and flung it at the owl who easily dodges it while quickly swooping in to grab him by the shoulders. Able to lift him off his feet and carry him over to a nearby old dead tree in a mere second before releasing him with the Badnik crashing headfirst into the tree, sliding down on the side of it. Longclaw flying in to drop kick him through the trunk and the tree timbers over to the side.

It didn't take him long to recover and be on his feet again, a glint to his optic. "...For a time, I considered saving you for last or even sparing you but now? I'm gonna make sure that this wretched island burns down in flames with you and everyone else on it!"

"All bark, no bite." Longclaw simply replied and that enrages the metal hedgehog into attacking her. The Badnik tried to land a hit on her but the owl would just dodge or parry his current set of attacks and keep him at bay. Landing a winged strike that knocks him back.

Being spawned from Sonic, it seemed as though she knew how to respond to his moves that many of Sonic's friends struggle with and denying him any room to utilise his usual strategy. If he was anything like Metal Sonic, he'd be ready to throw in the towel, get real desperate to make any leeway or be stuck in a spot regarding a problem of this nature. Being rigid and inflexible like most of the Badniks.

However unlike the one he deems as his inferior by being an imitation of Sonic, he has the benefit of possessing the original article's out of the box thinking and decided to change tactics. He performed a move he already used earlier in the form of a swipe and baited Longclaw into dodging the attack before quickly catching her out with a spinning hook kick to the chin area that made her stagger back. Following that up with a palm thrust to her face.

The metallic hedgehog threw a stomp at her head and she immediately rolled out of the way to dodge it. Rolling up to get back on her feet, the owl went to hip-toss her opponent towards the ground but he rotated his lower half the other way to land on his feet heel-first while grabbing onto her and immediately spinning his entire top half around to fling her upwards at a tree branch. Smacking into it and breaking it off the tree it was attached to. Even doing a little quick three-sixty degree flip.

She quickly drew her talons and scratched one side of Mecha Sonic's face when he attempted to rush in with a blaster shot followed by a hard kick to his head that caused the Badnik's head to spin from the angle she struck him at. Leaving him open to receive a swift corkscrew dropkick from Longclaw that knocks him right down to the earth beneath him.

Sensing a prime opportunity to eliminate the demon in Sonic's nightmares for good by casting him into the sun, Longclaw pulled out a gold ring from a little bag she keeps on her. In her hand, she held a Warp Ring. One of Mobius' great rarities due to its power to produce a portal that could take users almost anywhere with just a mere thought but they are also one-time use items, very expensive to acquire and generally difficult to source for.

The likelihood of finding a Warp Ring out in the wild is less than the likelihood of finding golden nuggets in a random mine.

Before she could use it to produce a portal into space, Mecha Sonic suddenly snatches it out of her hand. "I'll be having that!"

He threw the Warp Ring to produce a portal that showed a war zone going on in Green Hills. He tried to quickly shove Longclaw into the portal but she grabbed onto his arm and pulled him in through the Warp Ring with her. The gold ring closed up after they disappeared through it and shrunk into nothingness.

The Dark Legion Gunship was unloading a lot of laser bolts and a few rockets all over that took out a few trees in the area. Trying to get the two mobians that were both attacking the hovering vehicle from different sides. Their agility, reaction time and use of local environments helped them evade their aerial foe's firepower but the weaponry of said foe kept the pair from getting near.

Through her marksmanship, Julie-Su had already taken out the forward-facing turret over on the pilot's side and forced him to use his missile pod to attack her with but she's also forced to improvise when she spent all of her ammo. The echidna had spied a tree taller than the gunship near a hole in the ground and was trying to bait him into firing a missile at it to make said tree fall onto it. She prays that he's running low on rockets at this point or else her and Gadget are in serious trouble.

She'd manage to bait him into shooting at that tree but quickly had to move out of the way when he fired off two missiles at her. One striking the tree and making it timber towards the gunship. The pilot narrowly pulled the ship out from the path of the falling tree. Though, he didn't pull out fast enough to avoid having the second missile pod from getting damaged by a passing branch and nearly losing control of the craft because of it.

The other missile would explode some feet away from Julie-Su as she ran from the detonation point. The shockwave of the explosion would end up launching her forward towards the hole in the ground before falling into it.

Gadget would take out the last of the functional turrets on Lindsey's side of the gunship with his blaster that rendered it useless much to her anger. Using his grapple hook to cover distances and locating the spots to take out the turrets from. The blaster lended to him packs enough of a punch behind its laser bolts to disable the cannons.

Not willing to give up that easily, Lindsey got off her seat to grab a hi-tech sniper rifle and load it with a magazine before rushing to one of the slider doors. Slamming it open to peer out with the rifle in hand and proceeding to start firing charged rounds at the red wolf who let out a startled yelp when dodging the shots.

With the way the pilot was flying the gunship including the sudden jerk they felt from the smack of that passing tree branch and the recoil of the sniper rifle, she struggled to get an accurate aim on her target while tracking his movements through the infrared scope.

"Is that anteater dead yet?!" Lindsey yelled to her pilot and trying to steady herself.

"I think so?" The pilot replied with uncertainty in his voice. Having lost sight of the pink echidna after dodging that tree.

"Then stop piloting like a spastic and help me nail this little bastard here!"

The wolf caught sight of Julie-Su getting flung up in the air following an explosion and seeing her disappear from view. Whether she's still alive or worse, he wouldn't have the time to lament over her fate as he immediately had to run when the gunship started to move over towards him and having Lindsey firing off charged rounds at him.

Gadget is frantically rushing through the forest like his life depended on it with Lindsey's gunship chasing and gunning after him. Having no more ammo for his blaster and his beloved Burst Wispon doesn't have the range necessary to safely reach the airborne target nor have the damage output needed to bring it down.

The grappling hook might be his best bet but without him being chased by an obsessed bloodthirsty redhead wielding a sniper rifle and what not, it's a pretty sound strategy… If he's feeling suicidal that is.

He knew that redhead doesn't like him much from day one but he didn't think it was even possible for him to earn enough ire from someone for them to straight up want him dead over seemingly nothing until today and only now has he become aware of the hatred she holds for him with how zeroed in she is on him.

The wolf was wrong to assume that a mercenary like her based on their field of business abided by the mantra of 'Nothing personal, just business.' but when one's ego and pride gets even slightly dented like he somehow did to hers', they're very quick to discard that rule. Lindsey is making this one very personal.

Green Hills, South Island

Afternoon

Longclaw and Mecha Sonic both emerged from the Warp Ring on top of a coffee shop in Green Hills. The golden ring disappears a moment later.

A battle is going on between Knuckles' group and the town's local militia versus Lindsey's team of mercenaries made up largely of Tarek's former guards and a number of "borrowed" Dark Legion robots backing them up. The Restoration Army has been called in under the assumption the Dark Legion were invading South Island and are on their way over.

The owl parries an axe-kick from him with a shove tackle and sends him over the edge of the rooftop. He'd land on his feet on the pavement below. Mecha Sonic was going to head back up when the owl suddenly flew off to go tend to the distress cry of a child she heard somewhere nearby and he gave chase while searching for any backup to help him against Longclaw.

The puppetmaster trick didn't seem to work this time with there being some kind of mystical barrier or something of a magical nature to keep him from hijacking Sonic's body while he's in the mindscape. That stupid nagging owl in his optics stands in the way of his goals and as long as she lives, the threat of Sonic's salvation remains.

He would come across a bunch of militiamen fighting off some Dark Legion Busters with the hovering gun-mounted automatons being shot at. Startled by the sounds of his rockets, they proceed to fire on him as well. He could care less about the survival of the drones and cares even less for the people attacking him.

The Badnik broke off from his pursuit of the owl to race over to the militiamen and mercilessly tore through their numbers. With the Dark Legion Busters joining in on the attack, the militiamen stood no chance against Mecha Sonic and the metal hedgehog slays all of them.

For the last militiaman left, Mecha would shatter his spinal vertebrae through a hard handchop to his back and then follow it up with a stiff piledriver onto the ground that finishes him off. He didn't need to do that to the unfortunate man and could have easily used his lasers to do the job but he had to make his last moments on Mobius as painful as possible simply out of cruelty. Believing his father would be proud of his own boy if he was here right now.

It wasn't long before the ruckus he made would summon a hammer-wielding Amy Rose to the scene and swiftly destroy all of the remaining Busters present. Either coming off from rescuing some civilians or fighting some of Lindsey's goons and their robots along the way, she hasn't lost her step with the hammer.

Mecha Sonic grins cheek to cheek almost leeringly at the sight of her even despite the loss of his potential backup. "Are you here to marry me babe? I know how lovesick you get over a handsome blue hedgehog and how down you are to feel the G's~"

Amy glares at the metal imposter, clutching the Piko Piko Hammer firmly in her hands. "I wouldn't even kiss you, let alone marry you if my own life depended on it."

"It's not like Sonic is ever gonna give you a look as long as that stank princess is still in the picture."

"I learned to get over that and I haven't looked back since. You don't need romance to love someone." Amy swiftly shuts down his attempt to use something out of her past against her. "Meanwhile, you're just an obnoxious douchebag and a second rate Metal Sonic at that."

Mecha Sonic's ears twitched at that last part. Metal Sonic is just a mere imitation based on Sonic's likeness while he is casted from Sonic himself.

He skipped the taunting game and went straight for the pink hedgehog who leaped over his charge attack before swinging the hammer downwards that he quickly dodged. Throwing an uppercut which she caught with the side of her hammer and threw a booted kick to his chin that staggered him long enough to get struck by her infamous Piko Piko Hammer with a clang.

That hammer strike sends him flying back into a mailbox and knocking it over with a big dent on the side. He rolled backwards onto his feet in time to parry a downward hammer swing and threw a superkick at Amy but she moved her head out of the way right as fire shot out from the jet exhausts on the sole of the foot.

She'd quickly side-jumps with a flip to avoid the thrust strike of Mecha's servo-jab and landed atop the outstretched arm, balancing one boot on it. Throwing a kick with her other boot to his face that caused his head to spin for a second time and hopping off the arm to flip over him to land behind the Badnik to jab to his back with the bottom of her hammer.

He'd spun around by the waist to swat her with a backhand that sent the pink hedgehog tumbling back from the speed and force of the smack. Using the hammer to bounce back to her feet and resume fighting the metal terroriser. The pair's battling brings them both away to a new area.

Gadget frantically ran and weaved through the forest after leaving Labyrinth Zone with a pursuing gunship flying after him. Dodging sniper shots from Lindsey along the way and just trying to survive against his relentless red-headed hunter eager to make a rug out of him.

He'd eventually be brought to a gorge overlooking a ravine below while the winds howl and the sounds of raindrops hitting whatever surfaces they land on. The worst spot he could have gone to given the situation at hand. Cursing at himself for letting panic take the wheel here.

The wolf spies a lower spot of elevation connecting the two cliff sides together with a body of trees to his left that could help him reach the other side as long as his grapple hook has a surface to latch onto. Faced with no other options and hearing the sounds of an approaching aircraft, he ran and jumped off the cliff in the direction of those trees.

Everything around him seemingly in slow motion as he fell and hurriedly aimed his grappling hook at the nearest tree. Firing off his hook at that tree and latching onto a steady branch, quickly being pulled towards it while in freefall.

With how fast his hook's reeling speed was going and the angle he's rapidly approaching it from, he'd find himself crashing into the side of the tree. He would fall down towards the greenish grounds below and go through the tree's branches on the way down including snapping a few that roughly broke his fall until reaching the bottom with a thud.

He groans as he slowly pulls himself off the ground by the tree and catching his breath for a moment. Feeling sore from that rough landing on the tree but it sure beats landing all the way down into the ravine.

Maybe if he's lucky enough, that gunship will have lost sight of him and fly away after finding no sign of him here. Hoping she's not that obsessed as to be checking thoroughly for any sign of his body. He's on a small patch of solid ground with little room for cover from the gunship and no other way to escape from it other than dropping straight down to the ravine which would kill him if Lindsey doesn't get to him first.

Gadget then hears the sounds of that gunship drawing near to the gunship and knows it is hovering just above the cliff where he had jumped from; very likely searching for him. He hid himself out of sight but not quick enough to avoid being sighted by Lindsey's infrared sniper scope and avoiding another shot from her.

"...There he is!" Lindsey yelled to her gunship pilot up in the cockpit, pointing towards the lower set of trees and a little irritated by his shaky piloting. "Bring the wings down over to where he's at!"

The pilot vocally objected to the order. "There's a thermal draft in this area and it's far too risky under these current windy conditions! We've taken too much damage and we need to pull bac—"

"You do as I tell you right now and get us down there or I swear, I'll actually cleave your face off if you're the reason he gets away..." Lindsey cuts him off in a very dangerous tone with an intense glare that could kill and possibly a window into how mad she's become. "Fly this thing down and hold it steady for god's sake ya dummy!"

She's not going to leave until she is absolutely certain that the red wolf is dead beyond any shadow of a doubt. Too many times he's been bailed out in the past either because of his stupid luck or because of her clients stepping in and forcing her to spare his life but she's not going to let him get out of this one alive.

The pilot reluctantly lowers the gunship down into the gorge valley and tries his best to fly it steady for his obsessive boss to get a better aim despite the turbulent weather conditions. Hovering just a few feet above and across from the lower ground elevation.

Gadget quickly takes cover behind the tree nearest to him and uses it to shield him from a barrage of sniper fire being sent his way.

Lindsey unloads several rounds in his direction with some of the shots chipping at the trunk of the tree. Obsessively trying to nail him with each shot.

"Hey Rice-Boy!" Lindsey screamed at him over the sounds of the gunship's engine and the windy conditions, searching for any part of Gadget through the scope to shoot at while her ship hovered left to right from the thermal draft. "You got nowhere else to run!"

'How the hell do I get out of this one!?' Gadget tried to think of a plan against his foe and flinched from the gunshots. Daring not to poke his head out while that rifle's still fully loaded. Terrified out of his mind.

"How about you be a good little chap and politely come on out for me!? I'll make your death a quick one! I promise!" He hears her yell at him from the gunship as she fires off more shots at his cover. "Come on out and face me like a man ya little pussy bitch!"

Lindsey had him right where she wanted him. He can't hold out behind that tree forever and he's all boxed in. No one can save him now and he's all hers' for the taking.

The redhead snarls angrily when the wolf refuses to peek out from his cover and fires off another shot at the chipped side of the tree, wearing down his main form of protection against her weapon. "No-one makes a fool out of Lindsey Yardley and gets away with it!"

She'd use up the last of her sniper rounds in the current magazine for the rifle and have to reload said weapon while allowing her psychotic bloodlust to come forth to the surface. "You know what Chopsticks? I am going to go find your whole family and skin them all alive when I'm finished with you! I'm going to let them know that I had you put down like a stupid dog!"

Whatever fear Gadget was feeling died and he bares his canines with a gaze befitting of a soldier of fortune. She just made a very serious mistake in making threats about the Avatar's family. He was willing to let bygones be bygones a moment ago but not anymore; not after she's woken up the sleeping wolf.

While she's reloading her rifle, Gadget pops out from cover and points his left arm at the gunship before firing off his grappling hook. Shooting the hook like a pistol and travelling as fast as a bullet, the hook struck the windshield on the pilot's side.

The impact of Gadget's hook cracks the glass that severely reduces visibility and startling the pilot enough to make him jerk the controls to one side which made the whole gunship suddenly do hard veer to the right towards a gorge wall. Crashing hard into said wall with the damaged rocket pod getting crushed and detonating the remaining missiles inside in the process. Taking out the entire gunship along with its pilot and the wreckage falling to the bottom in a ball of flames.

As Lindsey was so focused on trying to kill Gadget with her sniper rifle and in the middle of reloading said rifle with a fresh magazine, she didn't secure herself in place. When the gunship suddenly snapped to one direction, it flung the redheaded woman out of the aircraft.

All of that aggressive, ruthless viciousness she has ever displayed to the wolf evaporated instantly and replaced with a look of terror as she let out a loud undignified shriek that echoed through the gorge while falling to her death in the ravine below headfirst. Soon, a sickening thud of a skull smashing against a rock rang out.

Gadget had to take cover when the Dark Legion Gunship blew up in case of metal fragments flying in his direction and only came out when it's' over. Peering over the edge to see both a flaming wreckage of what used to be a Dark Legion Gunship and a lifeless body laying face first on a rock with a pool of crimson under the head down in the ravine.

He didn't think that hookshot would be the end of Lindsey 'Honey Bunny' Yardley and perhaps that was a better way to resolve the situation with. Not that it matters now when he's done the world a solid in getting rid of her. With how obsessed she was in her final minutes, thinking of his family's safety and just how ruthless she's been in life, he doesn't exactly feel too bad for her. She let allowed that obsession to be her own undoing in the end.

The wolf feels more sorry for the guy dating her and putting up with a personality as unpleasant as that. Wouldn't be surprised if she was not a good partner based on everything he's seen of her. He could have saved her if the gunship didn't crash but would she be thankful or repay the gesture with homicide given her hatred for him? Probably not.

Gadget turns away from the edge and goes back to the tree that saved his life, sitting down with his back leaning against it; sparing a glance at the piece of ground that obscures his sight of the late Lindsey Yardley. "Sayonara Honey..."

Amy would eventually be joined by Knuckles, some militiamen and a few people from the recently arrived Restoration group in the fight against Mecha Sonic while fending off his allies including a Dark Legion Gunship. Even though they outnumbered him greatly, it was next to impossible in taking down the Badnik. Let alone keep him down for a minute because he just refuses to stay down.

The metal hedgehog was on a rampage and showed everyone exactly why the Knothole Freedom Fighters had feared him then in how easily steamrolls everyone who aren't Amy or Knuckles. Those Restoration Troopers just had no idea what kind of monster they're going up against nor did the militia when they got involved in the battle.

One of Restoration-branded jet fighters flew in to assist with its armaments after being called in by Amy to out the enemy gunship. However, Mecha Sonic flew up to tear through it as if it was made of paper before it could achieve that task and tossed one of its flaming wings at the ground troops that would have otherwise killed them if not for Amy's hammer throw knocking the fiery makeshift projectile out of the way.

"I can do this all day long!" Mecha Sonic bragged loudly to everyone within hearing distance and caught a rocket sent his way, tossing it back at the RPG-wielding militiaman that had fired it at him. "You meatbags ain't got nothin' on me!"

He blocks a hammer swing from Amy, ducks a right hook from Knuckles and dishes out a bandicoot windmill spin attack that knocks the two power fighters away from him to give himself an opening to fire out some lasers at them. The two Team Sonic members quickly avoided the lasers and were back on the Badnik again, trying to find a method to take him down without Sonic's help.

In the meantime, their allies focused on trying to take out the present Dark Legion Gunship and the accompanying Dark Legion robots from helping Mecha Sonic in his fight. While they are able to blow away the Gunners, Busters and the odd Walkers that show up without much issue, the gunship's armour-plating and the artillery it carries aboard makes it hard for them to take it down with the lack of a working rocket launcher on hand.

The enemy gunship would fire away at the militiamen and Restoration Troopers until a second Dark Legion Gunship shows up on the other end of the street. Then unexpectedly, the second gunship proceeded to fire missiles at the first and blow it out of the air.

"I'm on your side!" Butch's voice rang through the speakers. Having commandeered the gunship after killing his co-pilot while he was distracted when he saw his chance.

As if to demonstrate his intentions, he took out a group of incoming Dark Legion Cannons that flew into the scene in flight mode with the turrets and reduced them all to scrap before any of them were able to attack. He would fly his gunship on over to the fight between Mecha Sonic, Knuckles and Amy where the robot pulls away from the other two; leaving him to be barraged by Butch's firepower.

The metal hedgehog being as quick as he would fly away from the bombardments and blasted his lasers at the attacking gunship who pulled out of the way but still got clipped which caused it to go down.

Butch ejects himself from the ship before it crashes and Mecha Sonic attempts to snipe the parachuting agent from the air. However, a timely appearance of Longclaw would save him from meeting his end when she did a dive-bomb attack on the metal hedgehog and knocked off his aim as the Badnik scraped across the tarmac til he rolled back up onto his feet.

Knuckles and everyone else present barring Amy were all amazed at seeing an actual living Knight of Sophocles show up to help them out in the fight against Mecha Sonic. Their astonishment wore off quickly as soon as their common enemy snapped back into his combative stance and engaged with his foes again.

Even though they outnumber him greatly, the spawn of Julian is more than a match for all of them.

Taking a breather, the wolf leaned his head back against the tree behind him and took in the realisation that he came out of this one alive with the disadvantage he had going for him. Alive… Julie-Su!

"Akira!" A dirtied Julie-Su called out his name from the top of the cliff he had jumped off from earlier. "Akira!"

"Down here!" Gadget called out to her and got up to wave his hands at the pink echidna. "Where did you go!? Thought they got you back there!"

"I fell into a nearby pit!" The female echidna yelled back. "Why weren't you picking up when we were ringing you earlier!? Knuckles and them had just called!"

"I must have left my comms at that owl's house and didn't notice until just before that gunship arrived!" Gadget told her, admittedly a little embarrassed at not noticing the loss of his device before getting back to business. "What's going on with the others!?"

"Green Hills' under attack and judging from what just happened here, it looks like either you're the target or Sonic is!"

"How could they…" Gadget wonders how Lindsey would even know to check the Labyrinth Zone for Sonic's location until he remembered about the existence of that other Sonic and a worrying thought appearing in his head. "Sonic! We need to get back to him right now!"

Mecha Sonic swats aside a Restoration Trooper when he goes for Knuckles and strikes the echidna with a knee to the midsection but not before the red power fighter throws him a right jab while getting sent back into a wall. The jab made the robot's head spin out for a third time. The Guardian of the Master Emerald's strike must have knocked something loose in his head or is starting to accumulate damage over time as he's beginning to experience symptoms comparable to a concussion.

He's got to stop playing around and get serious in being rid of these fools before he can go back to his own mission of assassinating Sonic. He knows for a fact that Longclaw has brought along more than just one Warp Ring with her.

The blue machine sidesteps a hammer swing when Amy rushed him from behind and tripped her up. He slaps the weapon out of her hands, grabbing hold of the handle himself and tossing it at the giant owl like javelin after psyching her out with what seemed like another one of his usual attacks. Able to catch her out when the Piko Piko Hammer struck her faster

Longclaw ended up dropping four golden rings as she got sent through a window on a nearby building. Mecha Sonic didn't hesitate to seize them all for himself.

"...If you're still there with Sonic or you're on your way back, tell him we really need his help here in Green Hills right now!"

Knuckles had sent out his message to Gadget under the assumption that the wolf could still receive his message on his end as he jumped back in to resume the fight with his metallic opponent shortly after picking up the dropped Warp Rings. Trading blows and attacks with one another. Soon, Mecha Sonic cheapshots him with a low blow and then gives him a roundhouse kick to knock him down to the ground.

Amy would go to retrieve her hammer when she suddenly got grabbed by the throat from Mecha Sonic and was just shy of picking up her weapon. The Badnik holding up two Warp Rings in his free hand.

"Rascal. You always did have that sweet passion for love..." He says to her with a grin, tossing out the Warp Ring to make a portal straight into space and towards the sun itself. "One that you could feed the sun with!"

Mecha Sonic threw her up in the air and punted the pink hedgehog in the red dress with a backflip kick that sent her barrelling towards the portal. Towards her doom.

Knuckles groaned and came back around from that kick just in time to witness a screaming Amy getting sent towards the portal leading to the sun by a manically laughing Mecha Sonic who produces a second portal leading to a house over in Labyrinth Zone. Ready to go off and finish the job.

With him too far to catch Amy, Johnny and Manic having their hands full in handling Jason's forces, their allies being too preoccupied in fighting off Mecha Sonic's backup and that owl seemingly not yet recovered from getting struck by the Piko Piko Hammer, the only thing he could do right now in that moment is yell out her name.

"AMY!"

Author's Notes: Gadget finally gets to end his on-off feud with Lindsey after the latter has tried to kill him throughout the story since their first meeting and showing his fierceness when seriously provoked like threatening his family.

Although he is an updated take on Nicky, he's very much his own individual and has his own goals. He is a realist at heart, just rather reserved about it.
