Chapter 4: A Winter Day, A Fateful Night!
"Your right, after all that I owe you some answers. Let me tell you a story, let me tell you about the day I died."
"I still remember that day like it just happened. It all started with me going through some of my dad's old stuff…"
It all started with a box. Shirou was going through some of the belongings of his late father that had been put into storage. With the change in the weather one of the clubs at school was organizing some kind of charity event to gather clothes and food to give out to those less fortunate.
On board with the idea Shirou was in the process going through some old stuff, both his and his late fathers that had been put into storage, to find anything that could be donated.
Opening another box the rust haired teen was met by a familiar sight, a black over coat that he'd seen Kiritsugu wear whenever he'd had to leave on business. The rust haired teen couldn't help but smile fondly at the sight of this old and well-worn piece of clothing and the memories attached to it.
It was then the sound of something clattering on the floor was heard and looking down Shirou found a strange white object lying there. Curious the rust haired teen picked it up off of the floor and inspected it, it was odd looking. A white orb set into a square casing with a button on the side.
"The heck is this?" He wondered aloud as he picked up and pressed his button a few times. "Some kind of stress toy, why would the old man have this?"
After clicking the button a few more times Shirou suddenly realized that he needed to get moving or he was going to be late, absentmindedly he slipped the object into his pocket before packing the assorted items away before heading out to grab the last few things he needed for the day ahead.
Before long Shirou was racing along the roads that led to Fuyuki proper, the scenery racing past him as tore along the road. One that he'd driven along hundred times and was more than likely would do so many more times, as such it was easy to become complacent.
Such was the case with a stretch of road where an old Sakura tree that grew near one of the bends, it was said to be over 100 years old and every spring was a sight to behold, or at least Shirou thought so.
Due to the noise made by the bikes engine Shirou hasn't been able hear much, however if he had he would have heard the sound of something slicing through the air. Seconds later the base of the tree's trunk split open, causing it to fall across the road right in front of him.
Unable to react in time the bike crashed into the felled tree, sending its rider flying over the object before he colliding with the road below where skidded across its surface several feet before coming to a halt.
His body racked with pain and blood flowing from several wounds Shirou gasped as he lay on the ground staring up at the sky, unable to move due to the amount of agony he felt from just the act of breathing caused him.
It was then he felt something grab him by the collar and seconds later he was hoisted into the air, confused and panicked Shirou searched for any sign of what was holding him but found nothing.
Once again the sound of metal piecing something was heard followed by a spurt of blood and a choked groan. Shirou stared eyed wide and mouth agape, blood spilling out as he felt something pierce his chest, a fresh wave of pain emanated from his chest and passed through his body.
Slowly he felt something removed itself from his chest before he was tossed to the ground, seconds later he felt a hand roughly running itself over his body before digging into one of his pockets and pulled out the strange object that he'd found in Kiritsugu's coat earlier.
Despite his vision growing dark Shirou could see a blurry image appear before him. It's mostly black body clad in white robes with gold trim and blue collar and shoulder pads, attached to the elbow of its right forearm was a large a deadly looking sword blade that was coated in blood.
The creature was inspecting the white devise when it let out a low growl that sounded frustrated before dropping it on the ground, landing next to Shirou's hand, and began to walk away.
His head lolling to the side Shirou watched as the creature walked off, with each passing second his vision was darkening and his body growing cold. Was this really it? Surviving the Fuyuki fire, being rescued by Kiritsugu, swearing to become a Hero of Justice.
All of it was rendered moot; instead he was going to die here on the road lying in a pool of his own blood.
More seconds passed and soon the last embers of his life faded, with one last gasp his shallow breaths ceased and his eyes dulled as the world around him grew dark, the world fading away and darkness overcoming him.
Unbeknown to the red head blood oozing from a wound on his hand pooled over the white object, the red liquid seemingly being absorbed into it and an iris opening like forming in the center of the device.
Darkness. All around him was in an inky like void, no visible features or objects that stood out in this seemingly endless sea of nothingness. No beginning, no end. No ground beneath his feet or air above him. No sense of weight or gravity. No time or even dimension. Just nothing.
And then sudden all of it was gone, Shirou found himself sitting on the deck of a traditional Japanese mansion looking out on a small yard on which was being illuminated by light of the winter moon, and yet the air was warm.
"Wait, this…" Shirou muttered to himself. "This feels like…" He then looked to his left expecting to see the form of his adopted father, Emiya Kiritsugu, sitting beside him only to find the spot empty.
Despite his lack of presence this moment was almost an exact replica of the night Kiritsugu passed away.
Just then a deep guttural breathing from behind him snapped Shirou out of his thoughts, slowly he turned around and his eyes widened in terror at the sight of what he found there. Looking over him was a large demonic looking creature clad in open white robes with shaggy white hair and a pair of crimson horns protruding from its head as well as skin a sickly looking grey. In one of its hands it had a set of prayer beads and a Tantō blade in the other.
Gazing down at him a series of what sounded like growls and grunts was heard from the creatures lips, Shirou however wasn't in any sought of mind to analyze the situation with any kind of thought or logic.
He was too freaked out by what he was seeing; all he could manage to do was to stare at the demon that loomed over him, a look of terror on his face.
Seeing this the demon let out a groaning noise before muttering something to itself, its body began to emanate a glow that became bright and brighter until it was so bright that it was painful to look at, forcing Shirou to shield his eyes. After several seconds the light died away.
"There, does this work better for you or am I still too much for your tiny mind to deal with?" Hearing a new voice Shirou unshielded his eyes.
Where the demonic being had been now stood a human looking woman clad in an all-black business suit that stood just over five foot, her skin was white as snow and silvery hair flowing down from her head to the small of her back, her piercing crimson eyes glaring at him.
"W…what…" Shirou managed to say, finally finding his voice. "What's happening, who are you?"
"Ah, so you do speak." The woman replied. "As for who I am, I am what you mortals call a Shinigami."
"S…Shinigami…" Shirou exclaimed. He heard of Shinigami, depending on who you talked to they were said to be Gods, or creatures of darkness, supernatural spirits even fallen angels that guided the souls of departed humans to the land of the dead. "Then this is…"
"Not quite, this place is kind of like a holding area." The woman replied. "I believe this is, what you mortals call, limbo."
"Then, I really am dead." Shriou said, sounding defeated.
"Fraid so." The silver haired woman nonchalantly. Just then a thoughtful look appeared on the pale skinned woman's face and she turned away from the red head and began muttering to herself. "Hmmm, that could work. He looks like the type who would…"
She quickly turned her attention back to Shirou, a sly smile on her lips. "Good news kid, turns out your getting a second chance." She told him.
"R…really?" Shirou asked. "Why's that exactly?"
"Well…y'see there are special breed of souls that have a purpose that they must fulfill." The pale woman told him. "Turns out you just so happen to be one of those special souls with an important destiny ahead of you, in light of this there is a way for you to return to the world of the living. You just need to do a little job for me."
Shirou stared at the woman, a stern look on his face. Could he really trust her word, could she really return him to life? As the old saying went: 'if something's too good to be true it usually is'. Then again considering that the alternative was being dead...
"Ok," He replied, "What do I need to do?"
The pale woman's smile widened as she reached down and pulled Shirou up onto his feet, before placing her hand on his chest and, to Shirou's shock, phased through it. After a few seconds she pulled her hand back and in her fingers was a familiar looking object, only the case was now black and an iris like opening on in the center.
"This is an Eyecon, it's a container of a soul. Your soul to be exact so you better not lose or break this thing." The Shinigami told him. "However these is another kind of Eyecon called a Heroic Eyecon, these contain the souls of some history's greatest figures along with a great deal of power. But because of a series of unforeseen events fifteen of them have become lost in and around your city, that's where you come in. Agree to find all 15 for me and I can return you to the mortal realm for an extended period of time, plus since I'm nice and all when you get them all I'll let you use them to grant yourself any wish."
"Heroic Eyecons, a wish?" Shirou asked. "Why me though, if these things are really powerful shouldn't someone more qualified do this? Like you for example."
"Are you questioning my motives?" The pale reaper retorted. "For your information I have no real influence over the human world, guiding the souls of the departed is all I'm limited to. Besides you've already had one run in with the Gamma, don't you want to get some payback on the one who killed you?"
"Gamma?" Shirou muttered, recalling the blurry image of the creature with a sword for an arm as it stood over him as he died.
"That's right, they're beings from the realm of the dead that prey on the living." The Shinigami told him. "And they just happen to be after the Heroic Eyecons, although for what reason I can't say, but them getting them would be bad news."
Shirou frowned, these Gamma, the one who killed him, if they hunted humans that means that they were a threat to the people that he cared about. "If that's true how come I've never heard of them before?"
"A fair question. Being spirits of the departed they can't be seen by normal humans, they are only visible to those with strong connections to the spirit world." The pale skinned woman told him. "So what do you say kid, you still want to do this? Doing this job for me will put you in the crosshairs of the Gamma."
"Of course I am." Shirou retorted. "Fuyuki is where my friends live, I won't let these Gamma be a threat to them. Although how am I supposed to deal with them exactly?"
Letting out a small chuckle the pale skinned woman pointed a finger at Shirou's waist and traced a circle in the air, the action crating a symbol of orange energy light before drawing a smaller circle in the center creating the image on an eye. Seconds later a similar energy erupted from Shirou's waist and took the form of a bulky looking devise attached to an orange strap.
"Wha…what…?" Shirou exclaimed before looking at the woman for answers.
"That is the Ghost Driver." She told him. "Simply insert an Eyecon into it and pull the leaver, it'll allow you to Henshin into a Kamen Rider."
"Henshin, Kamen Rider?" Shirou asked.
"That's right, a warrior that can defeat the Gamma." The woman explained. "Last chance kid, if you've got any doubts I'd voice them now."
"Will you knock it off with this kid thing. My name is Emiya, Emiya Shirou." Shirou replied. "What about you, do you have a name?"
"Of course I do, however your mortal tongue wouldn't be able to pronounce it." The woman said. "Let's make it easy for you, you can call me Rea."
"Rea. Ok then Rea it is." Shirou said in a determined tone. "Let's do this Rea."
A small smile graced Rea's lips. "Very well then." She then placed a hand on Shirou's chest. "Good luck, Emiya Shirou …"
Suddenly Shirou felt a powerful force knock him off of his feet, as if struck by a great gust of wind, and was sent flying down a long hallway, the figure of Rea growing further and further away until she was swallowed up by darkness.
Once more Shirou found himself surrounded by darkness, however this time it felt different than the other one. That one was a void of emptiness with not even gravity in it, this one however felt…wet.
After looking round Shirou turned his gaze upwards where he noticed a small speck of light far above him, frantically he kicked his legs forcing himself up towards the speck of light, seeing it draw closer and closer until his head broke the surface of the water.
Water dripping off his body and the taste of salt in his mouth Shirou took in his surroundings and quickly noticed a small stretch of beach a fair distance away from his current location, he began swimming towards the shore.
After what seemed like hours Shirou arrived on the stretch of sand, gasping for breath as he staggered away from the water and towards the dunes where fell to his knees where he tried to gather himself until he noticed a shadow fall over him.
Turning his head he saw a man standing over him, his black hair tied back into a topknot and a small neat looking beard and moustache and clad in black robes with a second one, this one being grey, which was worn over the top, a pair of sheathed swords at his side.
"What do we have here?" the swordsman said to himself. "Boy, you look more than a little lost."
"Y…you could say that." Shirou replied as he picked himself up off the ground. "You wouldn't happen to know where I am would you?"
"You're a few hours away from the city." The bearded man told him. "I'm curious as to what you're doing out this far."
"It's…complicated. I'm not sure I fully understand it myself." Shirou said. "If I'm honest I think I'm in over my head. I was given an offer and I jumped without thinking how to accomplish it."
Just then a humorless smile spread across his lips as he chuckled. "Sorry, I dunno why I'm telling you all this." he told the stranger. "Here I am bothering you with my problems."
"It's no trouble to me, I have all the time in the world." The strange man replied. "You feel foolish for accepting an offer without thinking, perhaps you are. Then again a fool who leaps into the unknown without a second thought, some might call those people heroes."
Shirou's eyes widened as he heard this. "H…hero…" He exclaimed.
"Boy, I can see in your eyes you've got a great challenge before you, one you've chosen to take on." The bearded continued. "It may seem impossible but I'm telling you not to run from it but run towards it, do so with fire in your heart and sword in hand. Be pure, just and beautiful. That is only way for a hero to live."
Shirou was dumbfounded; he didn't know how to respond to this. Turning his attention to the man beside him only to find no one standing there. It was then a small glow coming from below, reaching down he picked the item off the ground and upon inspecting it he discovered he was holding an Eyecon, similar to the one that Rea had pulled out of his chest only the casing for this one was contained within a red casing.
He wasn't given much time to dwell on this as he soon the air around him suddenly grew unnaturally cold and looking up was greeted by the sight of a familiar figure walking towards him, the very creature that had killed him that same day.
"Y…you…" Shirou exclaimed, a small jolt of fear running through him as he remembered being stabbed in the heart by the creature before him.
"That is the Ghost Driver. Simply insert an Eyecon into it and pull the leaver, it'll allow you to Henshin into a Kamen Rider…a warrior that can defeat the Gamma."
'Driver…right, need to use it…' Shirou thought as he began patting himself down, searching for any trace of the devise, his hands brushing over his waist the belt appeared around in a flash of orange energy.
"Uhh, ok…" Reaching into his pocket Shirou pulled out his Ore Damashii and placed it into the belt and closed the faceplate.
EYE! BATCHIRIMINA…BATCHIRIMINA…
Taken aback by the sounds made by the devise around his waist Shirou was even more shocked when the Pantheon Reflector emerging from the belt, the ghostly material flittered around him several times before hovering above him.
"O…Ok then…" A bewildered Shirou muttered to himself. He then took hold of the handle attached to the Ghost Driver. "H…Henshin…"
In a flash black armor with eye symbols engraved into it appeared on his body, moments later the Pantheon Reflector draped itself over the confused teen shoulders, completing his transformation, the Face Pantheon faceplate appearing on the helmet to complete the transformation.
KAIGAN: ORE LETS GO! KAKUGO! GHO-GHO-GHO-GHOST! GO! GO! GO! GO!
"W…whoa…" A stunned sounds Shirou exclaimed as he examined himself. "This…this is nuts…"
So engrossed in his new armor that Shirou didn't notice as Katana Gamma closed the gap between them, raising its sword arm it slashed Ghost across the chest, knocking him backwards and continued its assault of the Rider.
His attention focused back on his opponent Ghost was trying his best to avoid Katana Gamma's blade arm but still got slashed all the same causing him to stagger backwards before being knocked to the ground by another slash.
Grunting as Shirou picked himself up off the ground the eye of the Ghost Driver glowed and from it a sword emerged and appeared in his hand. It wasn't exactly ideal, whilst he'd practiced basic kendo with Kiritsugu it had been several years since he'd even held a sword, however given his current situation Shirou couldn't exactly be picky about his weapon.
Weapon in hand Ghost did his best to parry Katana Gamma's attacks, managing to parry several of his opponent's attacks. However as expected his skill with a sword had become dulled from lack of practice and soon found himself knocked to the ground.
Leaving splayed out across the ground the red Eyecon clattered across the sandy ground, glancing at the item a thought popped into the teenage Rider's head. 'Eyecons are powerful items, the one I'm using transformed me into a Kamen Rider. Then maybe…'
Grabbing the Eyecon Ghost quickly got back to his feet, parrying another attack from Katana Gamma before kicking him in the chest, and quickly swapped out the Eyecon in the Driver with the one he was holding and pulled the leaver.
EYE! BATCHIRIMINA…BATCHIRIMINA…KAIGAN: MUSASHI! (Biwa Cord) KETTŌ ZUBATTO! CHŌ KENGŌ! (Biwa chords and slashing SFX)
Instantly the Pantheon Reflector vanished as the Hood of Twin Heavens emerged from the Driver and draped itself onto Ghosts shoulders, the Face Dual Wield appearing on the face of the helmet.
The moment the new Eyecon took effect an odd sensation washed over Ghost, a sense of confidence and strength as he stared down Katana Gamma. Taking his Gan Gun Saber he detached part of the weapon and transformed it into its Nitouryu Mode.
Weapons in hand Ghost once more engaged Katana Gamma however unlike before where his movements had been clumsy, this time was different it was if some force guided his actions as he engaged the enemy with skill of a master swordsman.
With another slash of both his weapons he forced Katana Gamma backwards a short distance. Wasting no time Ghost scanned the eye symbol on the Gan Gun Saber's cross guard, the belt scanning it.
DAI KAIGAN: MUSASHI OMEGA DRIVE! OMEGA SLASH!
A fiery red eye symbol appeared behind, a similar red glow illuminating the blades of his weapons. Lunging forward Ghost slashed away at Katana Gamma three times before pressing down on the trigger of the Gan Gun Saber and delivering a vertical slash at the otherworldly creature.
Letting out a cry Katana Gamma stumbled backward several steps before falling to the ground, the energy released from Ghost's final attack discharging and consumed it in a large explosion.
His enemy defeated Shirou removed his Eyecon from the Ghost Driver, the armor disintegrating off of his body, a wave of exhaustion overcoming him as he fell to his hands and knees before lying down on the warm sand.
Time passed and eventually the heat of the day began to cool off as the late afternoon sun began to sink towards the earth. Picking himself up Shirou began walking up the beach and towards the dunes, if what the strange man had told him was true then he had a long walk back to town ahead of him.
Before he knew it he was on the other side of the dunes and found a stretch of road a short distance away from him. To his surprise he wasn't alone. Next to the road, seated on top of a familiar looking black and chrome motorcycle was an equally familiar looking woman.
"Good job, took you a little longer than expected." Rea said as she approached. "You might want to be a little quicker next time."
"Rea, what are you doing out here?" Shirou asked.
"Just making sure my investment pays off." Rea replied. "I'm taking a pretty big gamble bringing you back to the mortal world, even if it is as a ghost."
"A…a ghost?" Shirou exclaimed. "What do you mean a ghost, I thought you brought me back to life?"
"Of course not, I don't have that kind of power." Rea told him. "As I told you I could return you to the mortal world for an extended time, once that time expires you return to the afterlife. Unless you collect all the Eyecons of course."
Shirou stared at the silver haired woman, his eyes wide and mouth agape at what he was hearing. "H…how long?" He managed to stammer out.
"Ninety nine days." Rea told him nonchalantly. "Closer to ninety eight now."
"Wh…why didn't you say so before?" Shirou retorted.
"Hmm, must have slipped my mind." Rea shrugged. "Regardless you managed to retrieve your first Eyecon. Just fourteen more and you get to make your wish. Good luck."
"…and there you go, that's my story." Shirou said to his companions as he picked up a cup of tea in front of him, the four of them seated around the red heads kitchen table. "That's how I became a Kamen Rider."
Around the table Saber, Rin and Archer sat, each of them lost in their own thoughts. Rin and Saber both left stunned as they processed the information that he'd told them. Archer meanwhile was searching his memories trying to recall any of the events Shirou had described but was drawing a blank, further evidence that this was not the timeline he originated from.
"I have to say Shirou, that is quite the tale." Saber said, finally finding her voice. "If not for the circumstances we find ourselves in I would question its validity."
"Validity, that's the best you can come up with?" Rin replied. "His story is downright impossible."
"More impossible then a group of wizards summoning ghosts and fighting each other to the death?" Shirou replied offhandedly. "Whether you believe it or not, it's what happened. I died and was brought back."
"That's what I'm talking about. The dead don't just come back." Rin said sharply. "Them doing so its…unnatural."
"And yet here you are, drink tea with three dead people." Shirou pointed out.
"Much as I hate to say it he does have a point Rin." Archer told his Master.
"Y…you and Saber are Heroic Spirits summoned by the Holy Grail. You two don't count." Rin retorted before pointing at Shirou. "According to his story, he was brought back by an otherworldly being that's meant to guide souls to the afterlife."
"Shirou, I have question." Saber said, tuning out Rin's protests. "When did this happen to you?"
"28 days ago." Shirou replied before drinking from his cup again, his answer catching both Rin and Saber by surprise.
"Tw…twenty eight days?" Rin exclaimed. "You've been doing this for nearly a month? Does anyone know about this?"
"Aside from you three, no. I've told no one." Shirou told her. "I doubt anyone would believe me."
"What about this Rea woman, can you really trust her?" The blond Servant asked.
"Probably not, but given the alternative…" Shirou said before being cut off by Rin.
"That another things that I can't accept. If your dead then how can you be a Master?" The Tohsaka Mage said in a serious tone. "The dead can't produce Prana, meaning you can't support a Servant. Why would the Holy Grail pick a dead man to be a Master?"
"I don't know Tohsaka. Before tonight I didn't know anything about Holy Grail Wars and Heroic Spirits." Shirou replied. He then took out the Eyecons he'd obtained and placed them on the table. "What I do know is that the Gamma are a threat and that I need to get the Eyecons before they can use them to hurt people. Second is that these have the power to grant me a wish, with them I can bring myself back to life instead of being a ghost on borrowed time."
Rin reached forward and picked up the Beethoven Damashii. "These things, they have the power to grant you a wish?" she said as she examined it. "Back at the church, you told Kirei that you had a way for your wish to be granted that didn't require the Grail. This is what you were talking about isn't it, you don't need the Grail because you can you use these things instead."
"Plus this way doesn't require me to kill people." Shirou added.
"I see, this is your quest." Saber then got to her feet and faced her Master. "Shirou, on my sword I swear I will aid you in defeating this enemy and finding these Eyecon's. I will use all my power to see that your wish comes true."
"You mean that Saber?" Shirou asked.
"You need to ask Shirou, many in your position would have simply focused purely on themselves. I can tell that you've prioritized protecting the people of this city from these Gamma ahead of your own needs. On top of that you've chosen to become a Master, to fight in the Grail War despite the battle that you're already engaged in. How can I not support you?"
Rin shook her head at this. "I guess you two really are perfect for each other." She sighed. "Fine, I guess I'll help you out. It's clear you're hopeless on your own."
Her comment was a shock to everyone. "T…Tohsaka…" Shirou stammered.
"Isn't it obvious, you've been at this whole 'Kamen Rider' thing for nearly a month and you've only managed to obtain four of these Eyecons. It speaks volumes at just how woefully inept you are" Rin said firmly as she tossed Beethoven back to him, she then let out a sigh "Besides you saved me from getting crushed by Berserker earlier tonight, which means I'm once again in your debt."
"Rin, whilst I trust your judgment I cannot agree to this." Archer protested. "I can understand you being shaken up by tonight's events, however this has nothing to do with us and it's not our job to fight off an enemy that has nothing to do with the Grail. If this idiot thinks that he can fight two wars at the same time, then fine, one less Master for us to deal with."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Shirou retorted, sounding defensive.
"It means that you're in for a very rude awakening. Dividing your attention will only get you killed." Archer replied. "You're already unworthy of even being a Master. Since your dead you cannot supply Saber with the necessary Prana meaning that she'll fade away unless you can find another way to supply her with energy."
"That's enough Archer, you're out of line." Rin told her Servant.
"Shirou," The sound of Saber's voice caught the trio's attention. "That item on the table, was that always there?"
Confused by the blond Servants words Shirou, Rin and Archer looked over and on the table saw an old-fashioned rotary seconds before the devise began to ring.
Slowly Shirou reached for the ringing devise as if it were a venomous snake, picking up the receiver he placed it to his ear. "H…hello…"
"YOU LITTLE IDIOT!" A voice was heard coming from the devise, worried for his hearing Shirou quickly holding it away from his ear. "WHAT DID I TELL YOU? I TOLD YOU NOT TO LET ANYONE KNOW ABOUT THE GAMMA AND THE EYECONS, AND WHAT DO YOU DO? BLURT IT OUT TO THE PIGTAILED TSUNADER, THE FORIGN WASHBOARD AND THE S&M FREAK."
"I…it's not like I was going to be able to keep it a secret much longer Rea." Shirou protested, only for it to fall on deaf ears.
"I don't want to hear your excuses." The voiced snapped back. "Now that you've gotten them involved you better put these three to good use. The girl is a highly skilled Mage, meaning that she should be able to locate the remaining Eyecons. Plus those two Servants are pretty strong, making dealing with the Gamma a simple task so you better not mess this up."
With that the line went dead leaving the foursome sitting there in stunned silence. "That's your Shinigami I take it?" Saber said solemnly; she then looked over at Archer. "Like it or not it appears that you've just been drafted Archer."
Placing the receiver back Shirou then glanced over at the clock on the wall, the time keeping telling him that it was 4:00am. "Another day gone…" He sighed; he then looked over at Rin. "It's late, or early maybe, you're probably exhausted. The least I can do is offer you a room for what's left of the night."
Rin looked back at him, a sudden a feeling of exhaustion replacing the adrenaline that she'd been running on since encountering Lancer earlier that evening, with it fading she was beginning to feel just how tired she actually was.
"That would be great." She replied, doing her best to stifle a yawn.
Shirou then looked over at Saber. "What about you Saber?" He asked. "I can get you a room as well if you like."
"That would be most agreeable." She replied. "Since you are currently unable to provide me with Prana I will need to conserve what I currently have by sleeping and ingesting food until a new way of obtaining it becomes available."
Shirou turned his attention to Archer. "What about you, do you require a bed for the night or will you go hangout on my roof like a gargoyle some more?"
Archer glanced over at the rust haired teen. "That's not necessary, Servants that are properly summoned need neither food nor sleep. My Master's Prana provides all the sustenance I need." The tanned Servant replied, sounding indignant. "I can revert to spirit form, doing so will ease the strain on Rin's reserves."
With that he vanished from view.
Shaking his head Shirou got to feet. "Come on," He told Saber and Rin. "I'll show you to your rooms."
"What about you Shirou, you should rest too." Saber told him.
"Don't worry about me." He assured her. "I don't really need a lot of sleep, plus I was used to long hours when I was alive." With that said he then led both girls to where they could rest.
Far from the Emiya estate in the church on the hill, Kotomine Kirei was seated in his privet chamber, despite the early morning hour the brown haired man was in high spirits.
"Seems I've found you in a good mood Kirei." A voice spoke up. "I wonder, what exactly could have one such as you in such high spirits?"
Looking up Kirei was met by the sight of a man with short yellow hair and piercing red eyes lounging on the couch. "Let's just say I had a rather interesting meeting earlier tonight, Rin has introduced me to a rather intriguing individual." He told his guest. "I must confess I feel as if I have been reunited with an old an friend."
"Is that so?" The blond haired man said. "I do hope that he will be able to provide me with some worthwhile entertainment."
It was then the air shimmered and Lancer appeared before the two men. "Lancer, I take it that you've something to report about Emiya Shirou?" Kirei said firmly.
"You could say that, turns out he's a lot more interesting then he looks." Lancer replied. "I tailed him and his group like you asked and listened in on their conversations, let's just say I managed to eavesdrop on some pretty interesting information you'll want to hear."
Kamen Rider Ghost: Emiya Shirou
Servant: Saber (Artoria Pendragon)
Eyecons Collected: 4 (Musashi Edison Beethoven Newton)
Days Remaining: 70
Next time…
"Someone at school is possessed by an Eyecon."
"The legendary bowman and outlaw, Robin Hood."
"You wish to challenge my skill with a bow? Ha ha, how thrilling."
KAIGAN: ROBIN HOOD! (Arrow flying) HELLO! ARROW! MORI DE AOU (Dramatic brass along with arrows flying)!
"The moment Emiya Shirou becomes a problem, I'll deal with him myself."
AN And with that another chapter in the little tale is in the bag.
So yeah, that's the back story for how Shirou became Ghost. I dunno if anyone will find this interesting or not but my original plan when I was writing this was that this and the previous Ghost chapter was going to be a single chapter however as I was writing it the chapter got stupidly long before I was halfway through it so I made the decision to split them and thus Shioru's backstory got turned into it own dedicated chapter.
As well as that aside Rin and Archer are both highly skeptical about Shirou's story whilst Artoria is willing to help Shirou out with collecting the Eyecons as well as pleased to learn that he doesn't require the Holy Grail to bring himself back to life. And of course, unbeknownst to them, Kirei and Gil are aware of Shirou's story, the Eyecons and the existence of the Gamma thanks to Lancer.
Since there's not much to say I figured I'd share this, these are some titles I came up with for potential Fate/Kamen Rider crossover stories along with the ones I've already used...
Fate/Stay Night x Kamen Rider Kuuga: Fate/No Fear No Pain
Fate/Stay Night x Kamen Rider Agito: Fate/Deep Breath
Fate/Stay Night x Kamen Rider Ryuki: Fate/Advent
Fate/Stay Night x Kamen Rider Faiz: Fate/Exceed
Fate/Stay Night x Kamen Rider Blade: Fate/Royal Flush
Fate/Stay Night x Kamen Rider Hibiki: Fate/Ongekida
Fate/Stay Night x Kamen Rider Kabuto: Fate/Clock Up
Fate/Stay Night x Kamen Rider Den-O: Fate/Time Trippin' Ride
Fate/Stay Night x Kamen Rider Kiva: Fate/Wake Up
Fate/Stay Night x Kamen Rider Decade: Fate/On the Road
Fate/Stay Night x Kamen Rider W: Fate/Maximum Drive
Fate/Stay Night x Kamen Rider OOO: Fate/Regret Nothing
Fate/Stay Night x Kamen Rider Fourze: Fate/Limit Break
Fate/Stay Night x Kamen Rider Wizard: Fate/Show Time
Fate/Stay Night x Kamen Rider Gaim: Fate/Lock On
Fate/Stay Night x Kamen Rider Drive: Fate/Full Throttle
Fate/Stay Night x Kamen Rider Ghost: Fate/Kaigan
Fate/Stay Night x Kamen Rider Ex-Aid: Fate/Level Up
Fate/Stay Night x Kamen Rider Build: Fate/Best Match
Fate/Stay Night x Kamen Rider Zi-O: Fate/Nexus Future
Fate/Stay Night x Kamen Rider Zero-One: Fate/Authorize
Fate/Stay Night x Kamen Rider Saber: Fate/Rekka Battou
Fate/Stay Night x Kamen Rider Revice: Fate/Buddy Up
So yeah, what do you think? When I came up with most of them are based on phrases that the Driver from the Rider respective shows says but then I ran into problem for Kuuga and Agito whose belt doesn't say anything as well as Hibiki whose belt isn't the source of his transformation and with a couple of them, Den-O Decade OOO Wizard and Zi-O, I didn't think the Driver Phrases really worked that well so for some of them I took things related to them such as lyrics from their shows theme or insert songs. The only I'm not 100% sold on is the one for Saber so if anyone's got any ideas Also don't expect stories for all of them.
Also had some ideas recently. I've got some ideas for scenes kicking around for various crossovers but they're kind of on the short side and probably not something I could dedicate a whole chapter to so I was thinking that I could put 2/3 of them together. I dunno, would any of you be interested in something like that?
Also, because I know several have more or less demanded it of me, I've thinking up what to do for a chapter based on Kamen Rider Blade. Currently I've got 2 different ideas for what to write but can't decide which of them to go with so I no idea when it will be done.
Before I sign off I got a question on the last chapter asking a couple of questions, one of which was whether Riders like Faiz and Hibiki also count as phantasmal species like Kiva?"
In my opinion the Orphanoch's from Faiz wouldn't count as Phantasmal Species since they are evolved humans even if they are an evolutionary dead end, as for Hibiki that depends whether your talking about the Oni or the Makamou. Despite using the power of demons to fight other demons the Oni are still just human, however the Makamou on the other hand you could count as Phantasmal Species. Then again that's just my opinion and you may disagree with me.
Also The Saga of Shirou's Summons by Pallan Miverva, the story that I mentioned was the inspiration for this little project as it currently stands back in chapter 1, came to an end recently. If you've not checked it out I'd highly recommend you do so, thanks to it I was introduced quite a few Servants that now rank amongst my favorites. My personal favorites were the chapters about Scathach and Tamamo-no-Mea and had been hoping to see a continuation to the chapters based on Iskander, Semiramis, Florence Nightingale and best bro Cu but as they are they're still good.
And like that I'm done for the time being. The next chapter 9 will be the final prewritten chapter that I typed up prior to starting this little project, bet none of you can guess what it is, and chapter 10 will be the, maybe, final installment of Fate/Kaigan.
As always thanks for stopping by and feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you thought of this chapter or if you've got any question, I'll try to answer them to the best of my abilities.
Till next time, Peace out y'all.
