Chapter ?: The Evil Belt
Ten thousand years ago, a massive battle known as the Battle Royal was fought by fifty-two Undead, each representing a species fighting for dominance over all others. The winner was the Human Undead, known as Category Two of Hearts, giving dominion of the Earth to humanity.
In the present day, archaeologists discover the sealed Undead, and accidentally set them free. Thus, a new Battle Royal begins…
A feeling of unease permeated the atmosphere of the living room located within the Emiya residence. A few short hours ago Tachibana Sakuya, Kamen Rider Garren, had successfully defeated and sealed the Peacock Undead, also known as Isaka. Doing so also freed the people that Category Jack Undead had had under his thrall including Chief Karasuma who was currently seated at the head of kitchen table with Shirou seated on one side and Hirose Shiori and Tohsaka Rin on the other, the Tohsaka heiress's Servant, Archer, leaning casually against one of the walls.
Lying on the surface of the table were a pair of items. One of them was a gold and black oblong shaped device with a gold and purple circular piece attached to it, a silver split running down the middle of it giving the impression it could slide open to reveal something underneath. The other being what looked like a playing card, what stood out most about it was the image of a green spider with a purple Clubs symbol on its abdomen as well as the word 'Change' printed on the side.
Whilst most of who were present were focusing on the new belt Shirou's attention was fixed upon the Garren Buckle that he was holding. After he'd sealing Isaka, Tachibana had handed over the Garren Buckle along with his Change Ace Rouze Card. From the way he had spoken to both him and the Chief before he departed it sounded like he might not be coming back.
"Taichou, you also made this belt?" Shiori asked as she shifted her gaze away from the new Rider belt as well as the Category Ace of Clubs that sat before her and towards where the older man was seated. Upon hearing her voice Shirou set the Garren Buckle down, turning his attention to the subject at hand.
"I'm afraid so," The president of BOARD replied, sounding both disappointed and frustrated with himself. "I didn't want to, however I was forced to do so due to Isaka's mind control, I'm so pathetic."
"I don't see why you're making a big deal out of this." Rin said offhandedly as she snatched both the new belt and the Category Ace card up off the table. "You've got this new belt, which means all you need to do is go out and find someone and boom, you've got a new Rider to replace Tachibana."
"Hey, don't go writing off Tachibana-san," Shirou said to the Tohsaka heiress in a defensive tone, grabbing the Garren Buckle and flashed it as if to emphasize his point. "He'll be back, just you wait."
From his place at the head of the table Karasuma looked over at Shirou, a small smile momentarily gracing his lips at hearing him say this. It warmed his heart to hear that despite everything the young man chosen to become Blade still had faith in Tachibana.
"Shirou-kun, I understand how you feel about Tachibana-san but I think it's best to leave him be for now." Shiori said to the rust haired teen, doing her best to sound calming. "After everything that's happened he needs time to figure things out."
Shirou sighed. "Yeah, I guess." He replied as he sat back down.
"Regardless, Tachibana stepping down will mean we will have to depend solely on Shirou to deal with the Undead for the time being." Karasuma said firmly. "However that is not our only concern, we also must decide what to do with the belt that Isaka had me create for him whilst under his mind control. That belt, it's not like the others."
"What do you mean by that Taichou?" Shiori asked.
"That belt is different then the ones used by Blade and Garren," Chief Karasuma replied. "Despite being forced to create it by Isaka I couldn't help but feel as if the Spider Undead also had some influence on me whilst I was making it, as if it possess has an evil will."
"I have to agree." Archer spoke up, glancing over at the party of four gathered round the table. The sound of his voice catching everyone by surprise. "That card, it's not like the others I've seen, I can sense maliciousness radiating off of it."
The words spoken by the Servant of the Bows made everyone present suddenly feel ill at ease. Hearing the warning from both her Servant and the BOARD President, Rin turned her attention to the sealed Undead, a frown spreading across her face as she gazed at it.
'An evil will…' She thought as she stared at the card in which the Spider Undead was sealed, as she did so the image of the spider gave off a faint glow as she could swear she could see the legs of the creature move. At the same time, unbeknownst to her and everyone else gathered in Shirou's living room, Rin's eyes became dull and glazed over.
Meanwhile the frown that was practically etched into Shirou's face deepened, setting the Garren Buckle down; he then looked over at the spot next to him. "What do you think Sab…" He stopped, cutting himself off at seeing that the spot next to him was empty. The rust haired teen let out a sigh as he felt a sudden prang of phantom pain in his gut. 'Oh yeah, that's right. She's not here anymore…'
It was strange, from the moment that she'd appeared before him, unexpected and unplanned as it was, Saber had left an impression on Shirou and despite her only being there for a short time the blond haired Servant of the Sword had quickly become a fixture of the young man's life. Despite knowing what had happened to her, part of him still found it hard to accept that she was no longer around, as if he still expected her to be there at his side.
Letting out a sigh, Karasuma got to his feet. "Well regardless, there's not much we can do about it tonight." The man in his forties said as he took the new belt and Category Ace back from Rin. "Unless there's anything else I suggest we get some rest, the last few days have been trying for everyone."
The rest of the evening carried on and one by one everyone in the Emiya household retired to their rooms for the night, all except for Rin and Archer who'd chosen to return to the Tohsaka residence for the evening.
Despite how late it was Shirou found it difficult to sleep, lying under the covers of his futon he stared at the Garren Buckle. "Tachibana-san…" He muttered to himself.
He could still recall meeting the user of the Garren Buckle for the first time, he remembered being so nervous that day, curious and dreading what the older man would have to say about having to work alongside a highschool student. To his surprise Tachibana had neither objected or seemed off put at having to work with someone as young as Shirou, personally taking him under his wing in teaching him how to use the Rider System as well as how to fight.
In a lot of ways Tachibana had become something of an older brother figure for Shirou, always happy to offer him advice, whether it be related to the job or just life in general, he'd been so patient and understanding with him. This in turn had made his betrayal of BOARD all the harder for the rust haired teen.
Shaking his head, Shirou banished these from his mind. Now was not the time to start having doubts. He just needed to have faith that Tachibana would come back.
Stashing the Garren Buckle away along with his own Blay Buckle, Shirou settled himself on the futon before pulling the blanket tighter around him and closed his eyes. He was just about to drift off when the sound of the door to his room being thrown open caught his attention and looking over he was greeted by the sight of a distraught looking Karasuma.
"Shirou, we have a problem." The older man told in, a note of panic in his voice.
"T…Taichou," Shirou replied, blinking a few times before he sat up. "Is something wrong?"
"Shirou, the belt I made. It's missing." The older man told him an urgent tine. "We need to find it now,"
"Belt?" Shirou replied, he then reached under his blanket and began searching for something. "What are you talking about, it's right here." He then produced the Garren Buckle as well as the Diamond Category Ace card.
"Not that one." Karasuma replied, a note of irritation in his voice at the teenager's obliviousness, something that wasn't helped when Shirou then pulled out his own Buckle and Change Ace Rouze Card. "Not those belts, the other one."
It took Shirou several seconds to realize what the President was talking about. "Wait, you don't mean…" In a flash the rust haired teen was wide awake and on his feet, any tiredness he might have felt vanishing instantly. "If what you said about it is true we need to find it now."
No sooner had the two of them began their search a sound caught the pair's attention and looking over they found a rather sleepy looking Shiori standing there, clearly having just woken up."Whatz goin on?" She asked in a tired tone. "Whatz with all the noise?"
"The belt that Isaka forced the Taichou to make, it's gone." Shirou told her.
"Gone?" The dark haired technician exclaimed. Much like with Shirou beforehand the dark haired technician suddenly felt very awake at hearing this news.
The next few minutes were a blur of activity with the three BOARD personnel looking for any sign of the missing Belt Buckle.
"Shirou-kun, Taichou," The sound of Shiori's voice caught the rust haired teens attention and he was quickly on the move, hurried footsteps informing him that Karasuma had also heard the technician's call and was close behind.
Within seconds Shirou found Shiori in the corridor that overlooked the backyard. "Shiori-san, what's wrong?" He asked as he approached.
"Look out there." Shiori replied, pointing out into the backyard as she did so.
A little confused both Shirou and Karasuma turned to look in the direction of whatever it was the dark haired woman was pointing at, too their surprise standing out in the middle of the yard was a figure with long black hair clad only in a white nightdress, holding the missing Rider belt in one hand and the Spade Category Ace in the other.
"T…Tohsaka!" Shirou exclaimed. "What's she doing here?"
"Never mind that," Karasuma replied firmly. "She has the belt, we need to get it away from her immediately."
"R…right," Shirou said, he then undid a pair of latches on one of the sliding doors before sliding it open, granting the three of them access to the backyard. "Come on, lets go,"
Outside in the middle of the yard and clad only in her sleeping wear was Tohsaka Rin, the belt buckle that Karasuma had made in one hand whilst in the other she was holding the Rouze Card that contained the sealed Spider Undead. Despite the chill in the air the Tohsaka heiress paid it no mind as she examined the Rouze Card that she was holding.
Just then the air beside her shimmered and Archer appeared, a look of concern etched into his face. "Rin, you need to drop that card right now." The tanned skinned Servant told his Master. "It's like Karasuma said, an evil intent is radiating off of that card."
Rin however gave no indication that she'd heard him, she just stood there examining the card she was holding, the cold light of the moonlight cascading down upon her from high above.
"Rin…" Archer cried out, trying once again to get Rin's attention only for her to continue ignoring him, her attention still fixed upon the sealed Spider Undead and leaving Archer feeling both concerned and frustrated at the lack of a response from her.
Just as he was about to consider trying to shake the Tohsaka heiress out if her stupor a noise from behind him caught Archer's attention and looking round he was in time to see Shirou, Karasuma and Shiori exit the house,
"Tohsaka, Archer, what the heck are you two doing here?" Shirou as he approached. "And why does Tohsaka have Taichou's belt?"
"I don't know. After Rin retired for the evening I went about my duties and had taken up position to keep watch for the night, a little while into my watch I saw her leaving the house as you see her now. When I asked what she was doing heading out in the middle of the night in just her sleeping clothes she ignored me and kept walking, acting as if I weren't even there." Archer replied, his usual snide tone that he used when talking to Shirou absent. "Unsure of what was happening I followed her to make sure she didn't run into any trouble until eventually we arrived here."
"You mean Rin-san walked from the Foreigners district all the way to here?" Shiori exclaimed.
"Damnit," Karasuma cursed. "It must be the Spider Undead, she's under its control."
As they were talking Rin slowly she placed the buckle to her waist, a plate in the side of the device sliding out as she did, placing the Category Ace onto it before sliding it closed. The moment she did so a purple strap emerged from the device and secured it around her waist.
That done, the dark haired Magus turned around, giving Shirou, Archer, Karasuma and Shiori a clear view of the blank expression she currently wore along with the dull look in her eyes.
"Tohsaka…"/"Rin…" Shirou and Archer both cried out at the same time.
"Hen..shin…" Rin muttered in a lifeless tone before sliding the circular golden and purple piece apart to reveal a red diamond pattern with a silver outline, in the center of which was a golden Clubs symbol underneath.
OPEN UP…
As with both the Blade and Garren Buckles a card-shaped field of energy called an Orichalcum Element was released from the belt, this one being purple and bearing the image of the sealed Spider Undead, striking Archer and knocking him back a short distance before it slowly began moving towards the unresponsive form of Rin.
"Tohsaka…" Shirou cried out as he immediately dashed over towards Rin, pushing himself to reach her before the purple energy field passed over her.
At the same moment that Shirou had called out her Rin blinked several times, her eyes returned to their normal colour. "H…huh…what the…what am I…" The ebony haired exclaimed in a confused tone as she noticed where she was as well as the glowing purple Orichalcum Element that was moving towards her. "Wh…what the hell?"
Moments before the Orichalcum Element was inches away from passing over her Shirou appeared before Rin, using his body to prevent it from passing over her. "E…Emiya…" Rin exclaimed, her eyes wide in shock as she saw and heard him grunt in pain as sparks from the field radiated off of him.
Grimacing Shirou saw a vision flash before his eyes, a seemingly endless abyss of blackness. However this space was far from empty as spread across it were hundreds if not maybe thousands of spider webs upon which crawled countless small spiders, their design similar to the image on the Clubs Category Ace.
For a moment Shirou vanished and in his place was a figure clad in a green bodysuit with armor pieces colored gold with pieces of silver and a similar green, the chest plate adored with three silver orbs with three grooves cut into armor, giving the impression of a club symbol. Lastly was the head that was covered by a green and gold helmet that featured purple eyes and a pair of silver protrusions shaped like spider legs.
This lasted only for a few seconds as the Orichalcum Element that Shirou was holding back with his body began to glow more intensely before shattering into countless pieces, the force knocking Shirou off of his feet and knocking him into Rin sending both of them sprawling across the ground.
"Shirou-kun, Rin-san…" Shiori cried out as both she and Karasuma dashed over towards the spot where they'd fallen.
"I…I'm ok." Shirou replied as he rolled himself into his back before assuming a sitting position, he then looked over at Rin who was also picking herself up. "Tohsaka…"
"Rin," Archer cut him off, the red clad Servant kneeling down to check on his Master. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm alright." She assured him as the dark haired Magus also assumed a sitting position. "I'm incredibly confused by what's going on but I'm ok."
Archer let out a relieved sounding sigh. "I see," He said. "I'm glad to hear that."
"That being said, I have no idea what's going on." Rin continued. "Last thing I remember was being in my own home and about to go to bed, so what the heck am I doing back at Emiya's place in the middle of the night?"
"You got yourself possessed by the Spider Undead and tried to steal the belt that Taichou made whilst under Isaka's mind control." Shirou told her, his words earning him a stern glare from the Toshsaka heiress.
"Me, possessed, yeah right Emiya." She said in a dismissive tone. "I'm a highly skilled Magus from a prestigious family line, the idea that I could be possessed is laughable."
"You'd be wise not to underestimate the Undead," Karasuma said as he and Shiori drew closer. "They are ancient creatures with abilities that should not be taken lightly."
"Besides, if you weren't possessed Tohsaka," Shirou said as he pointed to her waist, "Then how do you explain…" He stopped talking as he looked down and saw that the Rider Belt was no longer around Rin's waist. "W…what, where did it go?"
"What are you talking about?" Rin said, sounding both confused and frustrated. "Where's what?"
Shirou however wasn't listening to her as he was reeling from the discovery that the belt and its Change Ace were once again in the wind, "Taichou, the belt," He called out to Karasuma, turning his head to look at the older man. "It's gone again"
"What," The BOARD President exclaimed as his, Shiori and Archer's attention was drawn to Rin's waist where they discovered that the belt buckle that had caused this mess was indeed absent. "Damnit, we need to find it quickly. We can't risk it falling into the hands of someone and them falling under the Spider Undead's control."
The rest of the night passed by in a blur of activity as the members of BOARD along with Archer and Rin scoured much of the surrounding area, searching for any sign of the missing Rider Belt. Their search however would be in vain.
Unbeknownst to them the Belt they were searching for had reappeared far from the Emiya residence in the southern area of Miyama Town on the grounds of a certain manor that happened to belong to a once prestigious family of Magi that in recent times had fallen into decline, where it would be discovered many hours later by one of its residence. A resident that suddenly found their dreams invaded by dozens of small green and purple spiders.
AN And with that the first chapter in phase 2 of this series is fini.
So yeah your probably think "wait, this isn't OOO or Gaim", well I originally planned for the OOO chapter to be the next posted however I decided to go with a chapter based in Blade instead due to high demand, in fact of all the potential Fate/Kamen Rider crossovers Blade is the one I've probably the most requests for/people demand that I write (jk). I actually had two ideas for a chapters based on Blade, the other would have taken place much later on in the story so I figured it would was better to go with this one as it help set up things for later without leaving everyone too confused as to what is going on.
For anyone whose reading this and might not be familiar with Kamen Rider Blade this particular chapter in this little tale is based on two scenes from episode 15 of that show and revolves around Kenzaki and the others trying to figure out what to do with the Leangle Buckle.
But yeah out of all shows in the Kamen Rider franchise, the storyline of Blade is one of the easier ones to incorporate into the Nasuverse, in fact there's a story on this site called Undead Blade World is an example of how it can be done. Something that really helps is that the Battle Fight and the Holy Grail War aren't too dissimilar to each other as both feature a groups that are involved in a battle royal where there can only be one winner whose outcome will decide the fate of the world. The only real dilemma that I can see is whether or not to have the Magical community and the Church knowledge of the Battle Fight and the Undead or not.
Another factor that work that, at least I think so, the Undead and certainly the Jokers are some of the few Kamen Rider Kaijin/Villians that are a either a match for of even surpass Servants. The others being the Lords from Agito, the Greeed from OOO, the Overlords from Gaim and, as much as I hate giving that shit show even the slightest props no matter how minor, Evolt from Build. The Undead are immortal beings that can only be defeated by sealing them whilst the Joker is a creature that is supposed to bring about the end of the world.
Heck in universe its makes total sense why Shirou would become Blade when you take into account that his Origin and Element are both Sword as well as the presence of Avalon inside his body would make him highly compatible with the Spade Change Ace. But why the suit of Spades specifically instead of the others? Well for those reading this who might not know this the four main Riders from Blade are based on the four minor arcana that we know as Spades Diamonds Hearts and Clubs although they originally went by different names then the ones that we're all familiar with today, knowing this a lot of the shows symbolism makes sense…
Blade's motif is Spades which in referred to the suit of Swords. Garren's motif is Diamonds which is referred to as the suit of Coins. Chalice's motif is Hearts which is referred to as the suit of Cups. And finally Leangle who's motif is Clubs which is referred to as the Suit of Wands.
So yeah from that short spiel its pretty obvious that Shirou is replacing Kenzaki as Blade and, as mention in the chapter itself, Tachibana is still Garren and despite not showing up in person Hajime is still Chalice. At this time I've not decided who Leangle would be, the candidates so far based on this chapter are Shinji, Sakura and Rin. Now that I think about it I could see a scenario where the Leangle Buckle tries to take over Sakura to have her be its user but is rejected due to the presence of the Dark Grail and eventually makes it way back to Rin since it already dominated her before and have her become Leangle under the Spider Undead's control due to the improper nature of its sealing, this would mean that Rin would become something of an antagonist for this story. However if nothing else I can always gall back on Mutsuki I doubt its much of a stretch to have him be a classmate of Shirou and Rin at Homurahara Academy.
And on the Fate side of things Saber is absent and she and Shirou are no longer partners. What could have happened to her, you'll have to wait and see. The answer might not be what you suspect. Also there's no Kotaro. Personally I never really hated him, there have been side characters that were way worse then he was (coughShunpeicough), however his only real contribution to the show was that he owned the house that Kanzaki and the others lived and operated out of after the fall of BOARD and having him being here in this story would be somewhat redundant since Kanzaki only started living with Kataro because he got kicked out of his apartment and had nowhere else to go whilst Shirou owns a massive house that he lives in all by himself and can easily house pretty much everyone.
Anyway, that's me done for another chapter. Before I go I am happy to report that the chapter based on Den-O is now finished and that I've already got 2 more in the works, one of which will be our first step into the Reiwa era with Kamen Rider Zero-One whilst in the second we'll be circling back around to an earlier story with a second chapter based on Kamen Rider Kiva, so look forward to those. As well as those I've also got some ideas in mind for some new chapters based on Ryuki.
As always feel free to leave a comment as feedback is always appreciated and if you've got a question feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer it. I promise that the next chapter will the one based on OOO.
Till next time, peace out y'all
