Prologue: Where there is determination, there is hope
"Once upon a time…This world we live in was created from an extraordinary book. That book is the source of myths, stories, living creatures, scientific techniques and more. As well as containing all of human history. It is known as the Almighty Tome."
"Swordsmen, chosen by the Seiken, have been protecting the peace by protecting the Almighty Book. But one day, some bad people, who wanted to snatch it away appeared and the Omniscience Book split and scattered!"
"The battle between two sides has continued for countless years…and they fight even to this day…"
This dream, I'm having it again. It's always the same, no matter how many times I have it, it's always the same…
Panic. Fear. Terror. The air was filled with them as people ran for their lives as all around them the buildings were set ablaze, their texture looking like burnt pages, explosions ringing out as a horde of monstrous creatures, their appearance consisting of black bodysuits with white lines and wore a ragged cloaks, their heads covered by a metallic helmets with slits and short swords.
Leading them are four figures clad in armor, three of whom looked rather monstrous in appearance.
The first one was a beast-like with two horns on its head and red eyes, its body is white with blue flame-like markings and had a blue sash with gold trimming on its waist. It had golden claws along its left hip, collar and its right shoulder. On its forearms, it had gold pads.
The second was demonic in appearance, clad in dark red druid armor with gold accents with spikes along with a red cloak on its waist, holding a. From its body, it has green and red vine-like veins and its face is white with green eyes that have blue markings on its right and red on its left. It had thorn-like horns sprouting out of its head with three rings, one on the right while the two on the left. On the top of its head is some type of crown.
The third one was Draconic with brown and white armor with gold tribal markings along with red accents and had a red book in the center of the armor. Dragon-like scales on its biceps while the shoulder armor had fanned blades with one bigger than the other and had large teeth around the collar. Its head is white with bladed horns coming out of its sides with two large gold horns on the top of its head and red and gold spikes. Its eyes are red, and looked really angry. Finally, he had a red sword that had a grey jagged edge with gold markings and a red gem embedded in it.
The fourth however is different. Clad in a purple suit with black parts going on his arms and legs with gold trimmings along with a waist cape covering his right leg. He has a silver chest guard with a gold jagged edge along with a silver guard for his left shoulder. His right shoulder, however, has a molded guard in the shape of a dragon's head done in black with a mask done in silver with three red slits. He wore a helmet that is black with the top part being purple whilst the front part is silver with three red slits and black trimming on the right side of the silver mask piece. Sticking out of the purple-clad person's helmet is a spiky gold horn blade. The purple clad person is wearing a black belt that is holding something in the buckle, but the small boy is too far away to see properly. The man has a sword with a spiky gold blade along with a purple hilt.
Whilst the other three were monstrous in appearance, the warrior in the purple armor, somehow he seemed more monstrous then his companions.
All of a sudden the image shifted and I find myself staring up at the sight of a young girl with dark hair clad in a white dress who had been pulled off of her feet as she was being sucked towards an rectangular shaped portal, staring at you as you desperately try to keep ahold of her hand as my grip on her slips more and more until my pinkie finger wrapped around hers is the only hold I have on her.
"Ahhh!" The girl screamed for dear life, but my pinkie cannot hold onto hers and I lose my grip. All I can do is watch helplessly as she's sucked into the book. "■■■■■!" she cries out before the book-shaped portal snaps shut and vanishes, leaving me with a feeling of helplessness at the knowledge that I couldn't save her.
Before I could dwell on this, all of a sudden I suddenly find myself staring at the back of someone wearing a purple coat, grey robe-like shirt, leather belt and brown pants, this mysterious man appearing to be hurt as he was knelt in the ground, the blade of his sword partially driven into the ground.
"Where there is determination, there is hope!" He announced before grabbing his sword and raising it before stabbing it back into the ground, resulting in a blinding flash of light that engulfed the area and obscured everything from view.
Eventually the blinding light began to dim, when it finally died away I find myself having been transported from one ruined place to another, this one being a burning hellscape, one that I know only too well.
Turning my gaze towards the sky I am greeted by another familiar sight, the circular opening sitting high in the air, a strange blood-like substance pouring out of it.
All around me I can hear the sounds of screaming and wails of the dead and dying filling the air, overshadowing the noise of the fire that engulfed the area, the scent of burning flesh assuming my nose and a burning sensation in my lungs as I'm forced to breath in the noxious fumes.
"Senpai…Senpai…"
"Senpai, Senpai…" The sound of a warm voice pulling him from the world of dreams.
A groan escaping from him Shirou's eyes slowly opened, his gaze fixed upon the blanket that was spread out across the ground and was w the only thing separating him from the cold concrete floor. "That dream again…" Shirou muttered to himself before shifting his gaze over and found himself looking up into the face of the person who'd woken him up. "Morning Sakura."
"Good morning Senpai…" She replied as he pushed himself up into a sitting position and rubbed the back of his head. "You promised that you'd stop working out here so late, falling asleep on a cold hard floor night after night cannot be good for your health."
"Yeah yeah, I know…" Shirou replied before rolling his neck, a popping noise was heard as he worked out the kinks that had developed. "Is Fuji-nee here yet?"
"She arrived a few minutes ago," Sakura informed him. "She's not going to be happy if she finds out that you fell asleep out here again."
Shirou groaned at hearing this. "Just great…" He sighed, shaking his head before getting to his feet, more clicking noises were heard as he did so, he then looked back at his companion. "Don't worry about Fuji-nee, I'll deal with her. You can head back inside now, give me a few minutes and I'll follow."
"Ok Senpai," Sakura "I'll get started on breakfast, that should placate Fujimaru-sensei for a little bit."
Shirou sighed. "Thanks Sakura, you're a lifesaver…" He replied.
After the purple haired girl had departed Shirou reached into the pocket of his overalls and produced a palm sized item, one that resembled an old book and the words 'Brave Dragon' scrawled across the cover as well as an image of a red skinned Dragon that was spewing flames.
Staring at it, a frown etched itself into Shirou's face. He'd had this item for as long as he could remember, according to Kitsugu it was the only thing he'd on him when the Emiya Magus had rescued him during the Fuyuki Fire.
All the same Shirou had no idea what this item was or what it was for.
Shirou didn't remember much of anything of his past, the first real memory he could recall was walking through the burning streets on the night of the Fuyuki Fire, to this day he could still hear my the sounds of panic, screams and death, still smell the scent of the acidic scent of burning material as well as burning meat.
Everything else, his life from before the fire, his parents names and faces, his friends, they were gone, swallowed up and burned away by hellish flames that also ended the lives of over 500 people.
It was all gone…mostly.
"Where there is determination, there is hope!"
These words, they're all I can recall from my life before I was saved by Emiya Kiritsugu, but where it was I heard them or who it was who said them…I don't know.
Who were they, what was their relationship to him and why did they say this to me? I have no idea.
These were questions to which Shirou had no answers for, the only clue he had was the strange book-like item and even then he had no idea what it was, even Kiritsugu had no clue as to what it could be when Shirou had showed it to him.
That wasn't all that was bothering him. Lately Shirou had been having a strange dream, the events of which somehow felt…familiar to him.
What stood out most to the rust haired Emiya was the identity of the girl, the one who was carried off into that strange rectangular opening, he couldn't explain why but on some level he felt like he should know her and that she was important to him, but much like everything else he couldn't explain as to why knew.
Letting out a sigh Shirou pocketed the item before began walking towards the house, feelings of frustration boiling inside of him at having no answers to the questions that plagued him.
AN: Bonne Lecture everyone, another chapter in this little project is the bag.
So yeah, this instalment is pretty late. Normally I try to have these chapters un on the every second Wednesday or on the Thursday at the latest buuut obviously that didn't happen. No real mystery, I was busy the last couple of days. All I can do is apologise and promise to try harder to keep to the schedule from now on.
Ok, now that we've got that out of the way, for this instalment we've taken another step into the Rewia Era with a chapter based on Kamen Rider Saber.
As mention last time I've been watching it on and off recently and based on what I've seen so far its been pretty good, although from what I've seen a lot of people have complained that it gets kinda slow in the middle which honestly kinda baffles me since the middle portion of practically every Kamen Rider and Super Sentai show is kinda slow. In Kamen Rider's case it usually occurs around the time starting when the main character obtains his midseason upgrade and lasts when he gets his final form.
But yeah, so far I've liked what I've seen from Saber so far.
Getting back on topic of this story, yeah I get that its pretty short side and it mostly being a recount of the flashback/dream sequence of the Megido attack that we get in the Saber's first episode before transitioning into a vision of the Fuyuki Fire. When I was trying to come up how a Fate/Saber chapter this wasn't the first thing that came to mind but I figured that this would work as a starting point for any/all future chapters as its establishes that Shirou in this story, is Touma (Kento would reveal that Kamiyama Touma is Shirou's real name after his arrival) and being possession of the Brave Dragon Wonder Ride Book prior to the Fuyuki Fire. This would also mean that Shirou's parents were killed in the Megido attack rather then them dying in the Fuyuki Fire.
Whilst it might seem odd for Shirou and Touma to be the same person be an odd because despite the two of them having their differences, such as Shirou not sharing Touma's more eccentric personality, they do have things in common. I mean Shirou likes books and reading, I mean its what he and Medusa basically bonded over (well, that and him not treating her like shit), just not to the lengths Touma is (I can't see Shirou dress up like characters from children's books and act out scenes alongside Kento). Honestly I don't see an issue of could see someone write a version of Touma who is 'Shirou minus the trauma as well as lacking a future version of himself who wants to kill him'.
Since I'm on the subject of Saber a while ago mastergamer14 shared an idea for me for a potential Saber story. His idea was essentially to merge the Root with the Almighty Tome, how about making them one and same, which would mean that Wonder Ride Books are pieces of the Root. That I gotta say is an interesting idea and honestly kinda obvious since, as they pointed out, the Root and the Almighty Tome are basically the same thing.
He also suggested the idea of replacing Storious, Zooous, and Legiel with the three founders of the Holy Grail War Justeaze, Nagato, and Zouken as the first Megido. This one however I'm not so sure of, I mean that its an interesting idea and if anyone wanted to use it in their Fate/Saber story then more power to them but I'm not so sure I'd use it myself.
Something that I was toying with the idea of the identity of Calibur being Artoria, or rather a different version of Artoria. In this scenario would mean that Saber Artoria would be facing off against herself, a version of herself who is essentially the antithesis of everything that she tried to be, in a manner not dissimilar from EMIYA being a future version of Shirou.
And with that I think we're at a good stopping point, if any of you aren't all that satisfied with this one, I'm not all that happy with it myself. As such I've got another Saber chapter in the works that will hopefully be a lot more substantial then this one (seeing more of the show will hopefully help out in that department) as well as a new chapter based on Kamen Rider OOO in the works. Not only that I recently finished up a couple of new chapters, ones based on Decade and Faiz as well as another one that I won't get into right now as I'm saving it for a special occasion, so look forward to those dropping at some point.
As always feel free to drop a comment and tell me what you thought of this entry, I know this was kinda on the short side but I'm still interested in seeing your thoughts on this one or ideas of where this one could go.
See you all next time where we'll celebrate the 1 year anniversary of this little project with the long awaited Zi-O chapter.
Till next time, peace out y'all.
