Chapter ?: The Mysterious Rider
Ten thousand years ago, a massive battle known as the Battle Royal was fought by fifty-two Undead, each representing a species fighting for dominance over all others. The winner was the Human Undead, known as Category Two of Hearts, giving dominion of the Earth to humanity.
In the present day, archaeologists discover the sealed Undead, and accidentally set them free. Thus, a new Battle Royal begins…
Rin wore a stern expression on her face as she and Archer, who was currently in Astral Form, made their way through the thick forest area that dominated the west side of the city.
Whilst she'd be hard pressed to admit it She'd gotten so caught with Emiya and the members of BOARD as of late she'd allowed herself and Archer to fall behind the other participants in the Holy Grail War as well as shirked her duties as Fuyuki's Second Owner.
Such a thing had to be rectified, if her father were still alive he'd no doubt be very disappointed in her performance for being so lax in her duty as Second Owner of Fuyuki. She had to do something. With Emiya still recovering from being stabbed in the chest by Saber and Tachibana off doing…whatever it was he was doing, Rin knew that she needed to step up.
Emiya…
She still couldn't believe that Saber of all would turn on and abandon her own Master. In the back of her mind she began to wonder if Saber of all Servants was capable of betraying her Master then who's to say that any Servant, no matter which Class they were or regardless of alignment wouldn't back stab their Master given the right opportunity and motivation?
Ensuring the obedience of a Heroic Spirit was the whole reason that Command Seals existed. After the colossal failure of the first Holy Grail War it had been deemed necessary to create them. But even possessing them had not prevented Saber's betrayal of Emiya.
Rin shook her head, doing her best to banish these nagging doubts. Now was not the time to worry about that, not with the strange occurrences that had been taking place across the city as of late.
Lately swarms of Dragonflies along with other kinds of flying insects had manifested in parts of the city, once gathered together the buzzing insects would attack random bystanders, their sheer numbers overwhelming their victims.
Emiya and Shiori had insisted that an Undead was responsible, the dark haired techy's scanners had detected an Undead signature several times coming from these woods only for it to vanish, however Rin couldn't rule out the possibility that a Magecraft could be involved. Her logic was based upon the fact that this part of Fuyuki was the territory of the Enizbern's.
When the Holy Grail War had been conceived her ancestor, Tohsaka Nagato, had permitted the German alchemists to build a European style castle deep in the forest that dominated that area.
From her albeit brief interaction with Illya during their meeting outside Kotomine Church a week ago, Rin was fairly certain that Illyasviel was no fool, there was just no way that an Undead had taken up residence within her territory without her knowledge.
Was it possible that the Einzbern Master and the Undead could have come to some sort of agreement, maybe even working together, the mere thought of it made Rin feel uneasy.
From what she'd seen the Undead seemed to vary in levels of intelligence, seemingly getting higher as they rose in rank, the lower ranks came across as feral beasts whilst the higher ranked once possessed levels of intelligence. Just how intelligent and powerful could the face level Undead be
"Rin, you're being uncharacteristically quiet," The sound of Archer was heard, snapping Run out of her thoughts. "Also are you sure that this is the correct path? I'm fairly certain that we've passed the same tree three or four times now."
Rin stopped in her tracks, turning her head to glare at a spot of empty air just behind her. "Is there a problem, Archer?" The pigtailed said sternly. "Are you perhaps implying that I'm leading us around in circles on purpose for shits and giggles?"
Rin knew that her tone was harsher than it probably needed to be, she also knew that just what kind of a snarky bastard Archer could be at times and that she should be used to it by now. But, ever since Saber's abandonment of Emiya, she felt like she couldn't appear to be weak or indecisive around him. As if to give him little reason to doubt her or, more importantly, not give him any ideas that he could potentially backstab her.
Archer's disembodied voice sighed, the portion of air shifting as he appeared in a swirl of faint energy accompanied by the faint sound of chimes. "I'm not implying anything." He told his Master. "It's just that I figured you'd have noticed the sensory Magecraft produced by the Einzbern Bounded Field to get us lost by now."
"What!" Rin exclaimed, shocked by her Servant's words. Channeling her Magecraft to enhance her senses she picked up on the energy that covered the area, it wasn't even subtle, how had she missed that.
Damn, was she really that much off her game?
"Bravo Archer, I have to say you're definitely smarter than your Master." A disembodied child-like voice spoke up, the sound seemingly coming from all around. "I was beginning to wonder if one of you was to notice my shenanigans."
"Illyasviel…" Rin muttered, a frown in her face as she quickly looked back and forth, searching for any trace of the Einzbern Master.
"I must say I'm a little disappointed Rin, did you really think you could sneak into my forest without my notice?" Illya's disembodied voice said mockingly, "As the representative of the Tohsaka I had hoped that you'd at least be competent enough to not be fooled by my manipulations of the Bounded Field to mess with you. Especially when I was even trying to hide it."
"That's pretty rich of you, especially given the other guest you've squirreled away somewhere in here." Rin shot back venomously "Quit screwing around, now that you announced your presence you might as well show yourself."
The disembodied voice sighed daintily. "Oh, very well, I suppose I could grace you with my presence." Illya said offhandedly, "Besides, your old married couple routine, while amusing at first, is getting boring."
A faint sounding mystical noise from nearby was heard. Following the path Rin and Archer found themselves in a sizable clearing in the treeline, in the center of which they found Illyasviel seated on a blanket that spread out on the ground that also had tea set as well as several China plates that had different picnic foods on them, the snow fairy like girl casually spinning from a China tea as they approached.
"Good to see you Rin." Illya said, setting down her cup before picking up an empty one along with a teapot. "Would you like some tea?"
Rin narrowed her gaze, a stern look spreading across her face as she and Archer approached the snow girl. "Quit screwing with me?" She snapped back. "I don't have time to play games with a little brat like you."
Illya sighed at this. "How uncouth, I really shouldn't expect much from a neanderthal such as you." She commented as she set the cup and teapot down. "Being unable to see through my Bounded Field and wandering aimlessly through my woods for over an hour, it speaks volumes at the level of Mage to be found in such an uncivilized backwater country such as this."
"Why you…" Rin growled, growing increasingly frustrated with her so-called host. "As for uncivilized Mages, you're one to talk since you have an Undead in your territory that's seemed to have escaped your notice. The fact you allow it to freely violate your territory and cause so much damage seems pretty damning to the Einzbern name if you ask me."
"Oh that thing, I can assure you that it has not gone unnoticed by me." Illya replied offhandedly as he picked up her cup again. "I've tolerated its presence here solely because I've just been waiting for Onii-san to show up and fight it."
"You're using that Undead as bait to lure Emiya here?" Rin exclaimed, taken aback by the Einzbern Master's casual confession.
"Precisely." Illya replied. "I confess I didn't think much of him at first, but at what was to be our first official meeting, the way he took off and didn't even acknowledge myself and Berserker's presence and drove into the night, that's when that all changed."
The silver haired girl paused for a moment to take a long sip of tea, patting her mouth with a napkin before continuing.
"Watching him transform and fight monsters that seem to be on the same level of Servants, it intrigues me." She said, "I want to learn more about him, about this power of his. That armor, the cards he uses and the monsters he fights. And what connection they might have to the Holy Grail. I spent days pouring through the Einzbern library trying to find any mention of them but couldn't find even a tiny scrap of information. After discovering that creature in my woods my first thought was of having Berserker dispose of it but then I realised that if I left it alone then sooner or later Onii-san would have to deal with it, meaning that he'd come to me."
Rin stared at Illya, the way she talked about Emiya unnerved her a great deal. Just what was the Einzbern Master's deal and just what business did she have with Emiya, the way she talked made her think that the younger looking girl was obsessed with him.
"Well I'm sorry to disappoint you but Emiya won't be coming out to play," Rin told the silver haired girl. "Besides, the Undead aren't something to be taken lightly, Illyasviel. They're far more dangerous than I think you realise."
"Oh, and just how would you know that?" Illya replied, her playful tone vanishing as she got to her feet.
Rin smirked. "Let's just say that I have some insight into what's going on with Emiya and the BOARD Riders." She told the pale skinned Master. "As for the Undead, if one of them succeeds in accomplishing its goals it'll bring about the end of the world."
Illya glared at Rin, any and all hints of playfulness from her demeanor vanishing in an instant as she fixed the Tohsaka heiresses with a stern look. Taking a deep breath, she tilted her head slightly upwards. "BERSERKER!" She called out, her shrill tone seeming to echo through the trees.
Moments later a dark shadow appeared on the ground behind Illyasviel, growing larger and large with each passing second until all of a sudden something from above collided with the forest floor, the force of the impact shaking the area and cracking open the ground.
Quickly the cloud of dust and debris that had been kicked up began to settle, revealing the towering form of the silver haired girl's Servant, its single glowing red eye glinting dangerously as the dark skinned beast glared at Rin and Archer, both of whom felt a tingle of fear down their spines.
"Rin, this is a problem." Archer told his Master, his grey eyes glancing towards the twin tailed teen. "I hope that you have some plan up your sleeve on how to handle this situation."
Rin didn't reply to him, a bead of sweat rolled down her face as she took in the sight before her. She knew that she and Archer were no match for the towering mass of muscle and rage before them. In her attempt to have Illya take her seriously she's succeeded at pushing the Einzbern Master's buttons. It just so happened that she'd inadvertently ended up pushing the wrong ones.
"Since we are both rivals in this Holy Grail War and you walk in and bumble around my territory, such a thing demands that I respond in a manner befit my position as a Master." Illya said. "However, since you claim to know something about Onii-san and these Undead then maybe I should drag you back to my castle and force you to tell me what you know. Berserker, do away with the weakling in the red coat and then drag his Master back home by her hair."
"RRRRAAAAGGGHHH!" The ten foot tall dark skinned behemoth of a man bellowed, in response, his cry echoing throughout the forest, the sound causing the animals that dwelled within to flee in terror.
All of a sudden Berserker leaned forward slightly and his body tenses up before, moving at speeds beyond which his frame seemed it should be capable of, his weapon raised as he charged towards both Master and Servant.
All of a sudden Rin felt something grab hold of her shoulders before she was suddenly lurched to the side, narrowly avoiding Berserker's weapon as he swung it at her and made contact with the ground, leaving a deep gash in the forest floor.
"A…Archer…!" She exclaimed, looking up at the tanned skinned man who at present was staring at Berserker, a stunned look on her face.
Releasing his hold on her Archer, Archer stepped in front of Rin, a set of his signature falchions, Kanshou and Bakuya, appearing in a flash of arcane energy.
"Rin, you need to get out of here. This excursion of yours has failed spectacularly." He told the ebony haired teen, his tone firm. "Berserker and his Master are opponents that we are ill equipped to handle on our own. Regardless, I will do my best to buy you enough time to put enough distance between yourself and here as possible."
Before she could say something Rin a buzzing noise that resonated through the clearing was heard. "Wh…what the…" Rin muttered as she looked about her, trying to locate where the noise was coming from.
As she glanced about Rin spotted something standing on the branch of one of the trees. Standing there was a dark grey and green humanoid looking figure with elements of an insect mixed in, a pair of bug wings protruding from an attachment that sprouted from its right shoulder and its head insectoid looking.
"Undead…" Rin muttered as she gazed upon the creature that had been causing problems for her city as of late, her words drawing the attention of Illyasviel and the pair of Servants.
"My my, what do we have here? Are you going to kill each other?" The Dragonfly Undead said, a sadistic sounding glee in its voice. "Oh please, don't stop on my account. Watching you worthless humans slaughter each other is highly amusing."
"Oh, you've decided to show up. You should consider yourself fortunate that I have permitted you to dwell here as long as I have interloper." Illya said in a dismissive tone. "Had I so wished I could have easily sent Berserker out to crush you like the bug that you are."
"Kek kek kek, that beast of yours cannot kill me. None of you can kill me. My kind is beyond death." The grey skinned creature chuckled, clearly amused by the snow maiden's words. "Besides I have no interest in any of you, the one that I seek is on their way right now."
It then leapt from its place and landed on the ground below, standing a short distance from where the pair of Master's and their Servants were standing. "Still, it seems I've got some time before he gets here," It said, producing a weapon that consisted of two curved blades attached together. "If all of you are so eager to kill each other, why don't I help you with that…"
"Kill me, heh, you're an arrogant little bug aren't you." Illya scoffed. "I've changed my mind; I've decided that I can no longer tolerate your presence in my forest. Berserker, this ugly insect abhors my sight. Dispose of it."
The towering mass of muscle let out a howl in response to his Master's command before charging towards the insectoid Undead, swinging his large stone sword/axe in its direction.
Seeing this the Dragonfly Undead's body tensed before leaping into the air, avoiding the large stone weapon and flipped up and over Berserker kicking off of the DemiGod's head before landing on the ground.
No sooner had it done so the Undead had to duck out of the way as Archer appeared before it, slashing at it with his twin falchions, as it ducked and weaved the insectoid Kaijin raised its own curved blade intercepting another of the Servant of the Bow's attempts to slash at it.
His blade locked with his opponents, Archer raised his other sword and swung it at the Dragonfly Undead who ducked its head out of the way of his attempt, backing up slightly.
As it backed up the Dragonfly Undead thrust its hand forward thousands of Dragonflies suddenly manifested at the Dragonfly Undead's command and launched themselves at Archer, the tanned skinned man doing his best to fight back against the plague-like swarm that was set upon him.
Seeing its opponents was currently distracted by the swarm of insects buzzing around his head, the Dragonfly Undead took the opportunity to lunge at Archer and grab him by the throat before taking to the air, carrying the tanned skinned Servant with it.
Releasing its hold, Archer hurtled towards the ground below, the Servant of the Bow flipping in midair before landing on his feet, the white haired man fixing the insectoid Kaijin with a stern look from his place on the ground below.
As it hung there in the air all of a sudden a large shadow suddenly appeared behind the Dragonfly Undead, glancing behind it the insect Kaijin barely had time to react as Berserker seized ahold of it before they both fell towards the ground where the Mad Servant slamming the Dragonfly Undead into the forest floor.
Letting out a groan of pain the Dragonfly Undead began stabbing its bladed weapon into Berserker's arm, trying to get the towering Servant into loosening his grip. Berserker's grip however remained strong, so entrenched in his rage he didn't either didn't register or seem to even notice the Undead efforts.
Another growl escaping from the dark-skinned colossus reared back his arm before skimming his opponent into the ground several times before twisting round and hurled the Dragonfly Undead, sending it crashing into the trunk of a nearby tree.
Thrusting its arm forward the Dragonfly Undead conjured another swarm of flying insects and with a wordless command sent them to engage Berserker, the dark cloud of insect swarming congressing around the dark-skinned titan who surprisingly was unbothered by their presence.
Berserker raised his arm and brought them together in a loud clap, along with a loud clap that echoed through the area the action created a shockwave that easily knocked aside the cloud of bugs.
Just as Berserker was about to take a step towards his opponent he was halted when all of a sudden the roar of an engine was heard, moments later a red Honda XR250 dirt bike emerged into the small clearing, the bike's rider swerving it as it came to a skidding halt.
Moments after the bike had come to a stop, the rider dismounted, removing his helmet as he did so, revealing himself to be a man with messy dark brown hair with a dark spot on his face clad in a tanned trench coat.
"Ohhh, there you are," The Dragonfly Undead said in a low tone as it picked itself off of the ground, its gaze never shifting from Hajime as he dismounted his bike, "Chalice…"
"C…Chalice.." Rin exclaimed.
"Who's he?" Ilya muttered to herself as she studied the newcomer. "I don't recall allowing him to enter my woods?"
Hajime said nothing as he stared at the insectoid Undead, all of a sudden, the spot around the man's waist began to shimmer and in a flash his belt with its silver buckle with a heart-shaped red in its center appeared there.
His dark eyes fixed upon gaze at the insectoid themed Undead, Hajime produced a Rouze Card. "Henshin." He declared, sliding the Rouze Card through the slit located in the center of his belt buckle.
CHANGE…
All of a sudden Hajime's body began to warp and be shrouded in black before that effect suddenly broke, splashing out like water as he gained his new form. He held a bodysuit with gold detailing, black and silver armor adorning his body as his visor was red and heart shaped. He also held the theme of a mantis.
Standing there where Aikawa Hajime had been only moments before was the Knight of Hearts, Kamen Rider Chalice.
Rin and Illya stared at the new arrival. "Rider?" Rin exclaimed. As she stared at the newcomer she noticed his heart shaped breastplate, something about it seemed familiar. "Emiya, is he the Rider that you were talking about?"
Chalice produced his weapon, the Chalice Arrow, the twin blades attached to it extending as it took on its Blade Mode and charged towards the Dragonfly Undead. "You won't get away this time." he told the Insectoide Kaijin.
Off to the side Archer watched as the newly arrived Rider moved to engage the Dragonfly Undead. Chalice, he recalled Emiya Shirou mentioning this individual, that despite sharing the mission of the BOARD Riders of sealing the Undead this one refused to work with them.
From just a glance he could tell that the black and gold Rider was a formidable fighter, clearly skilled in his mastery in his choice of weapon and knew just how to engage an opponent such as the Undead.
And yet, something…was off about him, something that the Servant of the Bow couldn't quite place. Regardless, part of his job was to protect his Master. Tightening his grip on Kanshou and Bakuya he prepared to reenter the fight.
"Archer wait," Archer halted, the sound of Rin's voice causing him to hesitate. Glancing to where his Master was standing, he found Rin looking back at him with a stern look on her face.
"Hang back for the moment." The Tohsaka heiress told him, "I want to see what this one can do."
Archer looked away from her, looking over at Berserker he noticed that the mad Servant was also hanging back, apparently Illyasviel was also curious as to what Chalice could do.
He then shifted his attention to where the Dragonfly Undead and the newly arrived Rider engaged one another. "Very well, Rin." He told the ebony haired teen.
Meanwhile Chalice and the Dragonfly Undead were busy fighting each other to notice what was going on around them.
The insectoid Kaijin slashed at the Knight of Hearts with its double bladed weapon, the Mantis Rider responding by intercepting it with his Chalice Arrow.
"Why are you even bothering with these humans, Chalice, after all we are both Undead." The Dragonfly Undead inquired as both he and Chalice pushed back on one another, trying and failing to overpower the other. "What do you say, what do you say we team up together. Between the two of us we could win the Battle Fight and defeat all the other Undead and kill the humans in the process."
"Wha…what…?" Rin muttered, her eyes widening as a shocked expression spread across her face. "Did that thing just say that this Rider was an Undead?"
"I have no desire to team up with you, nor anyone. Fighting alone is all I know how to do, it's all I've ever needed," Chalice retorted, "I will fight all who would oppose me, seal every Undead to be the winner of the Battle Fight, that is all I need."
No sooner had he said this, throwing everything behind his weapon, Chalice succeeded in overpowering his opponent, shoving one of the blades of the Chalice Arrow against the Undead's chest that he then brought down, slashing the insectoid Kaijin with enough force to send it stumbling backwards a few steps.
Not hesitating for a moment, the Mantis Rider was quick to follow this up, slashing the Undead repeatedly several times before delivering a vicious kick to its midsection that knocked it into the trunk of a nearby tree.
"Damn, you're strong. There's no way that you're just some low ranked Undead," The Dragonfly Undead groaned as it picked itself up. "Just what…"
The Dragonfly Undead's words trailed off as it paused, all of a sudden, a look of terror spread across its face as it stared at Chalice. "Wait, could it be. No…no…you're…you're…?"
Unable to finish its sentence the Insectoid Undead quickly turned around, the wings protruding from its shoulder beginning to vibrate before flying away, determined to put as much distance between itself and Chalice as possible.
Back in the ground the Knight of Hearts grabbed a hold of the Rouzer Unit and detached it from his belt and slotted it onto the Chalice Arrow, that done he then held the weapon out in front of him aiming it towards the fleeing Undead.
Chalice then pulled his other arm back, as if pulling on an invisible string, in this space a thin portion of the air began to give off a faint orange glow as he manifested one of his thermal arrows which was then firing the at the Dragonfly Undead, slicing through the insectoid Kaijin's wings, sending it hurtling towards the ground.
Watching as his opponent fell from the sky, Chalice produced two Rouze Cards from his Card Deck and scanned them into the Chalice Arrow.
DRILL…TORNADO…SPINNING ATTACK…
All of a sudden dark energy that resembled a vortex of air gathered around Chalice, the dark clad Rider's body spinning in place as he was lifted into the air, tucking in his body before he was launched forward towards the falling Undead, performing a spinning drop kick, colliding with the Dragonfly Undead and sending it slamming into the ground where the buckle around the its waist cracking as it split open.
The moment that his feet were once again on solid ground, Chalice produced a blank Rouze Card and tossed it at the defeated Undead, embedding one of its corners into the split belt buckle.
"Jo…Joke…" The Dragonfly cried out as its body began to glow green before it was sealed with it before it launched itself back into the Heart themed Rider's hand.
Wordlessly Chalice added the newly sealed Undead to his Card Deck before turning in his heel and began walking back towards where he'd left his bike.
"Hey wait a second." Hearing a voice Chalice stopped in his tracks and turned to look at who was addressing him, finding a fuming Illya glaring at him.
"That creature was supposed to lure Emiya Shirou here, besides who said that you even step into this forest uninvited." The silver haired child fumed. "This area belongs to the Einzbern and I don't take kindly to anyone who I don't want to be here."
"Your business with Blade is of no concern to me. Neither do I care about this insignificant Holy Grail War of yours." Chalice replied plainly, "Sealing the Undead is my purpose, I suggest that you not get in my way of it."
The expression on Illya's face darkened. "Why you…" She growled, "Berserker, show this upstart why he shouldn't cross me."
The towering Servant let out a guttural growl in response to his Master's command before launching himself towards the Knight of Hearts, quickly closing the gap, his weapon raised as he prepared to swing it at the Rider in front of him.
With barely enough time to react, Chalice raised his weapon as Berserker swung his massive stone sword/axe at him in an attempt to intercept it, a loud clang ringing out as both weapons made contact with one another.
The Knight of Hearts let out a groan as he felt his knees buckle beneath him as he strained against his opponent as his larger weapon weighed down upon him, even he could not compete with the enraged Servant's Godlike strength.
Unable to push back he broke off contact and rolled to the side, Berserker's axe/sword embedding itself in the forest floor with a resounding thud.
Glancing over at Chalice, a low ominous growl escaped Berserker, his red eye giving off an ominous flash as he gripped the handle of his massive weapon, the muscles in his arm tensing and the veins in his arm bulging as with a mighty heave he pulled it free from the ground, bringing with it a spray of dirt.
But before the Mad Servant could reengage the Knight of Hearts. All of a sudden the area around them was bombarded by a sudden barrage of glowing red projectiles that fell upon them like a torrent of rain, striking both of them.
A groan escaped from Chalice as the Mantis themed Rider pushed himself up of the ground, raising his head he noticed Berserker across from him, the dark skinned Servant kneeling there, both of his eyes were dark as he stared up at the sky, not a hint of movement could be seen.
No sooner had he gotten back to his feet, a streak of red flashed across Chalice's vision as Archer suddenly appeared before him, the Servant of the Bow slashing at him with his twin blades to which Chalice responded by dropping down and rolling out of the way.
"You," Chalice said, his gaze fixed upon Archer as he got back to his feet. "I don't recall having any quarrel with you."
"Maybe you don't and truthfully I have no personal beef with you." Archer replied, "However, I can tell that you aren't human and that bug referred to you as an Undead. That alone gives me reason to do my job."
"Your job?" Chalice said, surprised by the tanned skinned man's choice of words. "I thought that as a Servant your job was to ensure victory for your Master in your pointless little Holy Grail War."
"I am no ordinary Servant. I am a Counter Guardian and it is my job to see that all threats to humanity are eliminated." The tanned skinned Servant said cooly, his steely grey eyes fixed upon Chalice. "I may not know exactly what you are but if your existence will bring disaster to the world and its people then I will not hesitate to end you here and now…"
And with that he hurled both of his swords at Chalice, the Married Blades slicing through the air like a pair of spinning disks as they tore towards the Mantis themed Rider.
A humming noise was heard as all of a sudden one of Archer's swords slashed Chalice across one of his arms, the Mantis themed Rider letting out a grunt of pain before charging at Archer, slashing the air in front of him with his Chalice Arrow.
Seeing the black and gold Rider's weapon aimed at him, Archer leapt into the air, his intention to put some distance between himself and Chalice. As he did so Chalice quickly changed tactics, produced two Rouze Cards and scanned them into his Chalice Arrow.
CHOP…BIO…
Just as Archer's feet once more touched the ground Chalice thrust his weapon forward, from which several vine-like were launched from the Chalice Arrow and launched at Archer, the dark tendrils managing to wrapping themselves around his body before dragging the struggling Servant towards Chalice, the Mantis themed Rider's right hand beginning to a sickly green energy as he lashed out and struck Archer in the chest, launching him backwards and sending him sprawling across the ground.
No sooner had Archer been dealt with, a large shadow descended over the mantis themed Rider, glancing over his shoulder found Berserker looming over him, the mad Servant letting out a snarl as he went to slash at Clalice with his large stone weapon, his sudden revival leaving Chalice stunned fr a moment.
Once more Berserker unleashed his wrath upon the Mantis themed Rider who was quickly put on the defensive, doing his best to keep from being smashed by the colossal Servant's large stone weapon.
Ducking under another of the mad Servants' attempts to slash at him, Chalice thrust his Chalice Arrow out in front of him and fired a thermal arrow at Berserker's head, the projectile flee through the air and struck the rage fueled Servant in the eye, Berserker let out a cry and he stumbled back a few steps.
Seeing his chance, Chalice reaches into his Card Deck produced three Rouze Cards, scanning them into his Chalice Arrow.
FLOAT…DRILL…TORNADO…SPINNING DANCE…
Chalice leapt into the air, his body becoming engulfed in a vortex of dark energy extending his right foot forward as he performed a spinning screw kick, and launched himself towards Berserker, extending his right leg forward before he the colossal Servant before proceeding to punch right through his body and landing on the ground on the other side.
With ragged breaths Berserker stumbled forward a few steps before, letting out a guttural sounding howl, he collapsed face first onto the ground where he lay unmoving.
"Im…impossible…" Illya exclaimed, "He was able to take one of Berserker's lives?"
The battle over, Chalice reached into his Card Deck and produced a new Rouze Card, sliding it through the Rouze Unit that was reattached to his belt.
SPIRIT…
In front of him a rectangular shaped shimmering patch of air appeared, through which stepped through, his armor vanishing as he reassumed the form of Aikawa Hajime.
Rin noticed a patch of green liquid in the ground next to Hajime's boot, glancing upwards she noticed a thin trail of it oozing from beneath his sleeve, trailing down his hand where it dripped onto the ground.
'His blood, it's green…' She mused to herself, 'That…that would mean that he's definitely not human…'
With nothing left for him to do here Hajime turned to leave, headed to where his bike was parked. "Hey wait…" Once again Illya's voice called out to him. "You…you were somehow able to take one of Berserker's lives, that should be impossible for anyone who's not a Servant. Just who the hell are you?"
Hajime said nothing at first, instead he mounted his bike before fixing the snow child with a stern look. "What I am is no concern of yours," He replied before slipping his helmet over his head. "I would advise not to try something like that again, if you or anyone else does so then I won't hesitate to consider them my enemy."
With that the trench coat clad man then kick started the machine into life, revving the engine a few times he departed, the red bike treating through the line of trees before vanishing from sight.
AN And with that another chapter is fini. and for this instalment we return to the world of Kamen Rider Blade.
So yeah all in all is pretty straight forward. Yeah, Shirou is pretty much 'Sir Not-Appearing-In-This-Movie' in this particular instalment instead focusing on Rin and Archer first meeting with Hajime/Kamen Rider Chalice and getting to see how strong he is. Timeline wise this chapter is pretty early into this stories plot with Tachibana is currently working for Isaka and Saber's abandonment as reveal in the previous of Shirou is still pretty fresh in everyones minds.
Oh, and for anyone who's wondering as to how Chalice can hold his own against Archer and take one of Berserker's lives he is the Joker Undead, a being meant about the end of the world if it were to be the victor of the Battle Royal. Something like that shouldn't have a problem dealing with Servants as well as sell how much of a threat the Undead are.
And as to why Rin seems a little out of character in this one but its mostly done to show just how events up to this point. Her interactions with BOARD, learning of the existence of the Undead as well as Saber's recent betrayal of Shiou to side with Gil and Kirei. I get that there are people that don't like Saber turning on Shirou but, narratively speaking, you think such a thing isn't going to have an effect on someone like Rin. If Saber, the presumably most loyal and virtuous of Servant's can betray their Master then whose to say that she can't trust her own Servant not to do the same.
Changing the subject King-Oher had gotten pretty wild. We've gone from semi medieval fantasy to fighting alien bugs that were behind the whole war between the humans and the Bugnarok in the first place. plus that last episode, Jeramie willingly taking the heat for Gira and the other kings and becoming the one fr the other kingdoms to hate is a pretty gutsy move and sure it'll get walked back by the end but it should still be interesting to see how that's gonna effect the show going forward.
As for Gotchard its still chugging along, yeah its still early days where the show is still establishing itself and the story is so far is mostly light on plot. Hotaro is pretty naive right now which is a starting common trait for Rider protagonists, particularly Neo Hiesei era protags. Obviously I don't expect him to stay this way through the whole series, like I said a standard story for Neo Hisei protagonists seems to be how do you grow and change your world around you changes whilst that the same time holding on to your ideals.
On the other hand we've officially been introduced to Spanner Kurogane, our rival character and maybe secondary Rider who seems to be the exact opposite to Hotaro who views the Chemys as living being whilst Spanner see's them as noting more than tools to be used. Minato mentioned that Spanner was dispatched to hint the Chemys, making seem that the Alchemy school that Hotaro and Rinne attend isn't the only one and is connected to a larger Clock Tower-esk organisation.
Oh, before I go I mentioned last time wanting to write a new Zero-One chapter and I managed to throw something together, I just gotta do some last minute touches before I upload it here. So yeah, look forward to that.
Anwho, I think this is a good place to wrap things up for this one. As all ways feel free to leave a comment and tell me your thoughts on this chapter, tell me your thoughts on Gotchard so far, you liking it, don't like it or you find it meh so far.
Till next time, peace out Y'all
