(A/N): Jerremyah finally gets healed. This chapter was extremely hard for me to write, because the flu that I've had for the two weeks is really kicking my ass. It's really affecting my concentration, and my brain in general. Hopefully this chapter isn't awfully disjointed, but... I did my best.
Leo
Right. No more getting distracted. We were going to heal Jerremyah, and then he and I were going to head back out there, to handle the issue with the deer. But first, the three of us got set back up the way we had been before- with Jerremyah leaned back, his leg propped up over the bowl, via Lisbet's hand. She lifted the glass of bloody water, then hesitated.
"Grey?" Greygorry's head perked up, from where he had clearly only been pretending to read his book. Right- I had forgotten that Jerremyah wasn't the only other person in the room that had been able to understand Lisbet and I's conversation. "Could you come stand by his head, so you can hold him down, if need be?" My eyebrows furrowed.
"I mean, I could-" She cut me off, not tersely, but definitely not as carefully as she had been speaking to me earlier- she was all business now.
"No. I don't want you anywhere near his mouth- besides, I need you down this end. I don't know how bad things are about to get, but if I can't hold him with one hand, then I'm going to need you to hold his legs." I nodded.
"Got it. We... we probably shouldn't wait until we know for sure that you can't hold him." She met my eyes, taking a second to assess me, before she apparently found me acceptable- or maybe, she was weighing the pros and cons of that proposal.
"You have a point. Alright, come here." I stepped up, and she brought her hand back in order to grab my own, to guide me to where she wanted me. I was on the opposite side of the table to Greygorry, and whereas he stood in line with Jerremyah's shoulders, I stood just below the level of his knees. I met Jerremyah's eyes and when he gave me a firm nod, I reached out, and put a hand over each of his kneecaps. I pressed them flat to the table, quickly cutting off most of his range of movement rather efficiently.
I could feel him trying to test my grip on him, feel his muscles and tendons flexing beneath my hands, feel his patella trying to slide around, and I pushed downwards, further bracing him against the table. I met his eyes again.
"I can apply a lot more force, but I'd rather not cause you anymore damage, if I don't have to. Don't worry- I won't let you hurt her." Jerremyah gave me a look that was half reproachful, and half grateful. Meanwhile, Lisbet was doing her best to pretend she hadn't heard me. Next, Greygorry put a hand on each of Jerremyah's shoulders- then paused, and slid them a little further down, to his pecs. This change made the corner of Jerremyah's lips quirk up.
"Grey, I know you're a boob man, but-" Greygorry rolled his eyes, and I fought to hide my smile as Lisbet glared at Jerremyah.
"Language." Jerremyah gave her a look that was somehow both cheekily defiant, and indulgent.
"I'm more of a leg man, myself. But of course, you both know that." Lisbet crossed her arms over her chest.
"Grey." Jerremyah continued.
"Lis is a br- Mmh!" I didn't have a chance to hear the rest of what he had to say about Lisbet's preferences, because Greygorry removed one hand from Jerremyah's chest, so he could use it to cover his mouth.
"Thank you. Honestly, that might be the most helpful thing you could devote your attention to." The look that Jerremyah shot at her almost made me lose my tentative grip on my composure. "Alright, let's get started." She picked up the glass again, and, at the last second, her eyes met mine. It was only when I nodded, that she started to tip her hand, letting the water pour out of the cup, onto his wound.
As soon as the water made contact, I had to put a lot more effort into holding him down, as the obvious pain made him writhe. His hips bucked off of the table, and his arms started flailing, as he realised he wasn't going to be able to pull his leg away from the source of the pain. As one of his hands swung somewhat close to me, Greygorry removed his hand from Jerremyah's mouth, so he could grab his flailing extremities, instead. Next, he flopped over him, pressing him into the table with his torso.
"Bite me, and I'll bite you back." He warned, but I didn't think that Jerremyah was in the right state of mind to be able to take that into account, and be deterred by it. He was surprisingly quiet, other than the growling- I expected at least twelve new expletives to memorize, but so far, he was letting me down.
Lisbet was holding down his calf, keeping the wound still, but I could see his foot twitching. The bowl had long been forgotten, and there was water getting all over the table, along with the blood that was leaking from his wound- and, I assumed, my own venom being washed away. It took a minute, but eventually, the growling stopped, and soon after, he stopped writhing. Writhing- he was still shaking slightly, though.
"How're we doing?" There was silence for a second, after Lisbet's question, before Greygorry huffed out something that sounded like it could be a laugh.
"Oh, I'm having a blast. Leo?" I blinked.
"Huh?" He lifted his head to look at me, and now that he had, I could see Jerremyah past him, looking rather dazed.
"How. Are you. Doing?" I blinked again, still confused.
"I'm good, how are you?" He shot a look at Lisbet, that I could only describe as exasp-credulous.
"Lisbet, your demon child is provoking me." I was? This was news to me! Lisbet was clearly more worried about Jerremyah right now, though.
"Jer?" He was quiet for a second, to the point where I thought he may not reply at all, before he seemed to find his voice once again.
"...Ow." Fair. I released his knees, and bumped his thigh with my knuckles. Slowly, his head tilted downwards, and his eyes slid to meet mine. After another second, the corner of his mouth twitched up, but there was no way it could ever be mistaken for an actual smile- which was clearly what he had been aiming for.
"Is the venom gone?" I asked him, and his eyes drifted a bit, as he attempted to look inwards, and assess his wound. Then, his eyes snapped back into focus.
"Yes. I mean, I still have five little holes in my leg, but I suspect they're getting smaller." I leaned over, closer to Lisbet, in order to get a better look at it. It did, in fact, look to be healing a lot better now.
"Definitely looking better. Greygorry, I think you can let him up, now." The man in question hesitated, glancing to Lisbet, and it was obvious that he only pulled back, once she had given him the all clear. After a few seconds, Jerremyah lurched upwards, teetering a bit, but before he could fall back all the way, I stepped forward, using my vampire speed to slide my arm behind his back. "Here. Let me help." Honestly, I was kind of surprised that he did. I assisted him upright, but once he was, he was no longer focused on his wound, but instead, on the woman tending to it.
Lisbet, feeling both of our sets of eyes on her, looked up, and froze. She released his leg slowly, and then set the empty glass off to the side- beside the teacup of Firewhisky- before straightening, so she was no longer leaning over him. He was still staring at her, and I considered nudging him, or telling him that he needed to focus, but honestly, even if he hadn't just come off of being held down and practically tortured back to some semblance of health, I... I thought they deserved to indulge in some fervent eye contact. God, if I hadn't seen Elaine for almost ten years, my eyes would probably never leave her again- they'd fall out of my head from me refusing to blink, before they left her- and Elaine and I had only known each other for four and half years or so. Lisbet's gaze left Jerremyah, and immediately landed on me again, where I was supporting him.
"I don't know how long it's going to take for him to heal. If you need someone else to go with you-" She cut herself off, as both Jerremyah and I shook our heads in sync.
"No." I reaffirmed, and he continued for me.
"It's my problem. I need to be the one to deal with it." Lisbet's mouth drew into a thin line, and her eyebrows furrowed.
"We're going to have a conversation, later." Surprisingly, Jerremyah didn't sigh, but instead, the corner of his lips quirked up.
"Despite how painful I know it will inevitably be, I... I look forward to it."
(A/N): Jerremyah: 'Grey's a boob man.'
Greygorry: 'Correct, but not relevant.'
Jerremyah: 'I'm more of a leg man, as you both know.'
Lisbet and Greygorry: *simultaneous eye roll*
Jerremyah: 'Lis is a br-east woman, a titty connoisseur, if you will.'
Leo: 'Fair. But where are my fellow arse appreciators?'
Herc: 'Yo!'
