Chapter 6: Advice

For both Peter and Rogue, their fun outing appears to have helped each other in more ways than one. While Rogue was initially the one to suggest they should have some fun so Peter could get his mind off things, Peter ultimately returned the favor by helping Rogue realize her powers, her gifts, weren't a curse. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and sooner or later, they found themselves back at the X-Mansion. As Rogue parked her convertible, she grabbed her stuffed horse that she received at the arcade, and eventually, she and Peter soon exited the vehicle. When they were making their way inside the X-Mansion, it was clear that something was on Peter's mind.

Quite frankly, this is nothing new, but what Peter was specifically thinking about was… something different. "Hey, uh, Rogue?" Peter said, wanting to get the woman's attention.

Rogue stopped to turn her head to Peter, now wondering what he had to say. "Yeah, darlin'?" she replied.

Peter was trying to proceed carefully with what he was about to say. In fact, he's thinking about if he should even say it in the first place, but he knows if he doesn't, then it's gonna be on his mind for a long time. "What we did…" he paused, doing his best to tread carefully. "You know, hanging out with each other, being at the arcade…" Peter would pause once more, feeling like he was making this way more difficult than what it had to be. "Did we…" Another pause, but don't worry, he would eventually succeed. "Did we just go on a date?"

Upon hearing Peter's question, Rogue's face carried a blank expression. It left Peter to believe that he screwed up for even asking such a thing in the first place. "Oh great, now I made everything awkward!" Peter thought to himself, as he was internally freaking out. And with Rogue still not uttering a single word, Peter now carried the belief that he ruined a great night.

But then Rogue's face started to show some form of emotion. Compared to the blank expression she had moments earlier; this was definitely a sign of progress. Although, was it a good sign of progress, or a bad sign of progress? That remains to be seen.

Rogue stood still, but as time passed, a knowing smirk appeared on her face. She would casually shrug at Peter's question, before saying, "Ah don't know." As she said this, it's like her smirk only got bigger, and at a moment's notice, her voice became more seductive. "Did ya wanna consider it a date… sugah?"

Oh boy, this was madness. Rogue knew exactly what she was doing too. The way she said her famous word, sugah, was a whole lot more different compared to how she usually says it. Peter picked up on this change immediately. This wasn't the first time something like this has happened to him. He can thank Felicia Hardy, AKA The Black Cat for him being no stranger to these moments. Nevertheless, Peter knew the ball was in his court. Or was it? Maybe this was all just a big joke?

"You do know I asked you first, right?" Peter brought up.

"Oh, Ah know that," acknowledged Rogue, brushing off that Peter was the one who brought it up in the first place. She then winked at him, before saying, "Goodnight, Peter." Ending on that note, she proceeded to walk away, leaving Peter in a confused state of mind.

"That's so not fair! You're not even gonna answer my question?!" Peter shouted, watching Rogue walk away. But as he kept watching Rogue walk away, he found himself admiring the view and-

"Pull yourself together, Parker! You're losing it, man!" Peter yelled at himself, sighing heavily as he closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration. Refusing to be distracted any longer, he walked inside the X-Mansion, feeling the need to get some rest after this debacle.

When Peter finally made it to his room, he began to shake his head. Clearly, he wanted to forget what just happened to him, but that was easier said than done. Obviously, he has some conflicting emotions right now. Does he like Rogue? She's already his friend, but the question he's now asking himself is does he like her more than a friend? And if he does, then what does this mean for Mary Jane? Will Peter give up any kind of hope on finding her? The woman that he was planning to propose to?

Peter rubbed his forehead, letting out another sigh as he entered his room, but upon entering, he saw something, or rather someone he wasn't expecting to see.

"Bout' time you made it back from your little date, Bub."

Peter freaked out while almost falling on his back in classical anime fashion. Eventually, though, he would recompose himself. "What are you doing here, Logan?!" he exclaimed, dramatically pointing at him.

"Calm down, kid. I ain't gonna kill ya or anything. I just wanna talk." By the looks of it, Logan was calm, and he seemed to be truthful with his words. Peter was still skeptical, but he was slowly becoming less tense.

"Should I be scared?" Peter questioned.

Logan would roll his eyes. "I just said I wasn't gonna kill ya." he repeated once more, his tone showing some annoyance.

Peter became quiet, not being sure about this situation. What in the world could Logan want to talk about? Couldn't it wait until the morning? "Okay, okay, I'll bite. What do you wanna talk about?"

Logan felt the need to set the record straight. "First of all, I wanna say that I'm sorry for what I said to you earlier." he told Peter, feeling the need to clarify what he meant. "You know, the homeless thing."

Well, this was unexpected. Logan was apologizing to Peter? Man, how Peter wishes he had his camera out to record this moment. "Gotta say, I didn't take you as the apologizing type." said Peter, being honest with his words. "Anyway, apology accepted." he responded. While he did feel better that Logan apologized, something felt… off. "But, uh, is that all you wanted to say, or am I missing something here?"

"I also wanted to give you some advice." revealed Logan, never taking his eyes off Peter. "You're playing a dangerous game with Rogue, and I'm not talking about the fact that you can't touch her." he spoke, while adding, "It's fine if you guys are friends, but the level can't reach any higher than that. It'll only cause unnecessary drama."

Peter heard what Logan had to say, and right away, his mind went back to Rogue, and then he thought about somebody else. "You're talking about Gambit, right?"

Logan gave a confirming nod. "Yeah." he replied, causing Peter to become quiet. Logan noticed this and let out a sigh. "I know it's hard, but take it from somebody like me who's been through his fair share of relationship problems. It's not worth the hassle."

Truth be told, Peter was fully taking in Logan's words, and it inspired him to ask a question. "If you don't mind me asking, what kind of relationship problems have you gone through?"

"A stupid love triangle." Logan bluntly said.

Peter's eyes widened. "Wait, you too?" He was thinking about the love triangle he had with MJ and Felicia.

A discovery has been made. The ladies can't get enough of Spidey and Wolverine. "Oh, you gotta be kidding me…" Logan muttered, facepalming himself. "Anyway, if you wanna know the details, it was me liking Jean. I'm sure you'll be able to connect the dots for yourself."

Much like how Logan expected, Peter was indeed able to connect the dots for himself. "So, you and Scott fought each other a lot." This definitely made sense to Peter, considering that Scott and Jean were married.

"Yep." Logan replied, confirming he and Scott did fight a lot. "And I don't want you and Gambit to go through the same thing, because it'll not only bring you guys down, but it could end up bringing the whole team down too."

BGM: BGM: Al Green – How Can You Mend a Broken Heart (Play this, my readers!)

It was a hard pill to swallow, but Peter had to acknowledge the valid points Logan was making. Still, before this conversation ended, Peter had to know one more thing. With the way Logan was speaking, it's like he had some pain behind his words. "You still love Jean, don't you?"

Logan made his way to Peter's door, being on the verge of exiting until he heard the question on whether or not he still loves Jean. He began to think about all of the moments he shared with the redhead throughout the years. The good, the bad… but that's the only thing he can have when it concerns her. Memories. And the more he thinks back, the more painful these memories become. He's still trying to get used to her and Scott being married, but it's been a tough process. It might be something he may never overcome.

"Even if I do, it doesn't matter now."

Logan decided it would be best for him to stop there, and eventually, he left Peter's room, which as a result, left Peter to himself. As always, so many things were running through Peter's mind. He went on to sit on the edge of his bed, and on his nightstand, there was a nice picture of him and MJ. He grabbed it and placed his hand over the frame while lying on his back, remembering how much they meant to each other. Placing the photo back on the nightstand, right beside it was a group picture of him, Harry, and MJ. Then, he reached into his pocket and looked at the silly yet cute photos he took with Rogue at the arcade.

After a while, he placed the photos he had with Rogue right by his picture with MJ. Next, he would look at the ceiling in silence. Almost instinctively, Peter's hands covered his own face, proceeding to close his eyes and let the quietness of his room influence his thoughts. What do you do in your life when you don't exactly know what to do in the first place? How do you move on from somebody who still means the world to you? How does someone even get the answers to these questions in the game we like to call life?

Peter was tired. Very, very tired. He's thankful for the X-Men allowing him and Aunt May to live with them, but it doesn't change the fact that MJ is gone. Harry is gone. As easy as it can be for somebody to tell Peter he has to move on, it isn't that simple. Even Logan admitted he hasn't moved on, without actually saying the words of course.

Peter thought long and hard on what he wanted to do. After coming up blank many times… he settled on an answer.

In another room, Scott was lying fast asleep on his bed, but the same couldn't be said for his wife Jean. She doesn't exactly know why, but she feels… a disturbance of some kind. It was hard to explain. As she tried to figure out what it was, this is when she heard a soft knock on her door. Wondering who it could be at this time of the night, Jean got up and walked to the door. Once she opened it, she was surprised to see who it was.

"Peter?" Jean said, taking a look at Peter and seeing how… sad he looked. A look of concern formed on the redhead's face. "Are you okay?"

Peter took a while to answer Jean, but after some time, he managed to say something.

"I need your help."
