The Doctor wasn't supposed to matter, but then he came along and gave me stuff to work with and I am. Upsettie about it 'cause it added so much more to the story. X,D My barebones outline of an initial story doc is getting more meat added I guess… Sorry if things are a little weird in this chapter? I ended up adjusting some things and adding the entire Misfit portion because I otherwise didn't have them "come back" until Iruma and co returned.

End of Day 3.

Blood Divine, Spilt Upon the Desperate Soul

Lied frowned as he looked between his fellow Misfits.

He had summoned them during their free period, and raised a hand in question, "So… has anyone else been having any strange… dreams since the other day?" He couldn't help but sweat a little in nervousness, wondering if he'd been going crazy.

The Misfits looked between one another, and it seemed they were, to some degree and extent, united in this oddity and nodded.

Lied released his building tension with a sigh, glad to know he wasn't alone. He put his hand by his mouth as if to tell a secret, "So, what've you guys dreamed about?" He pointed his thumb to himself, "I've dreamed about television screens, other people playing games, and arcades, but never going in to play! It was lonely and it sucked!"

Sabnock hummed, "I dreamed about running while feeling afraid, clutching something in my arms that felt wrong. There was another dream where I was laying down in a small space with a knife held menacingly above me. They were both unnerving."

Elizabeta held a hand to her cheek in distress, "My dreams always saw friends, families, and lovers together, but I was always alone. I couldn't understand the thoughts running through my mind, but when I woke up, I couldn't help but wonder what being loved was like before I remembered where and who I was."

Agares glared at the floor with a frown, "The earth was shaking as I tried to secure boxes of… something. People were yelling in a language I couldn't understand as I frantically tried to finish my task. I was left by myself, while my heart pounded from fear and danger."

Jazz rolled a coin through his fingers to keep himself busy as he spoke, "There were two adults who I trusted that always took me by the hand, and every time before they left me, they held out their hands until I put every last coin I had on me into their hands."

Kerori clenched her hands into her skirt, stiff as she spoke. "It was dark, and I was cold. There was a terror running through me as I tried to fix some sort of machine while my fingers went stiff and numb. I was never dressed well enough, and I was panicking to get the device to work."

Purson was silent for a beat before he spoke, "There was music, laughter, and sound in the distance. I was trying to keep everyone in an orderly line, but they could barely hear me over the noise."

Allocer spoke, "I was being reprimanded by an adult as I felt guilty and embarrassed. I was clutching a book in my hands, but I'd never read it, and the paper had a low red mark in the corner."

Gaap wrung his hands, "I was in the woods while a terrible storm raged on around me-de gozaru. I clung to a tree as the wind tried to blow me away. I was tired, scared, and unbearably hungry-de gozaru."

Clara had her head bowed with tears in her eyes, "I was always alone… but whenever anyone spoke to me, they always wanted something. I was always happy to help in whatever way they needed, but they never stayed. I just constantly helped others without them giving me a second look."

Everyone turned to their final member, Caim, and the feathered Misfit adjusted his monocle before he spoke. "I was listening to the conversations around me. Something terrible had happened and it was a source of gossip. 'How can humans be so cruel to one another?' I wondered, 'Why can't we get along?' The adults didn't look for my input, so I simply continued the task given to me, but that was the gist of it."

They all took a moment to absorb what had been spoken before Lied frowned, "Wait a minute, Caim, you understood what people were saying in your dream!?"

Caim raised a brow and huffed as he raised a wing, "Well of course. Understanding others is part of my Bloodline Magic."

Kerori brought her hands in her mouth in realization, "Iruma-kun… is human?"

Caim nodded, "It would seem Iruma-kun is a Japanese human, since the people around him were wondering 'How the Japanese government would respond' to whatever it was that had happened."

Purson tilted his head in thought, "Is that why he wears so much cologne? I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if he thought anyone would eat him because our school's Alma Mater says 'Humans exist to be our food- Suck them dry, soul, blood, flesh and all' right? No wonder he was always so nervous and sometimes reacts to things in ways no one else ever would. I'm kinda surprised none of us dreamed about being eaten, but maybe we're just used to having those kinds of nightmares ourselves-"

Lied raised his hand, "Okay okay, got it." He rubbed his chin in thought, "That definitely makes sense… and it kind of tracks with what I noticed during the Harvest Festival. Iruma's totally used to being in danger in the woods, 'cause he totally almost scared the piss outta me when I-" Lied coughed and cleared his throat in embarrassment, "Well anyway, Iruma-kun scared me in the middle of the night by being threatening and making a scary noise."

Clara sniffled as she wiped at her eyes, "I miss Iruma-chi and Azz-Azz."

The Misfits couldn't help but agree. Iruma was an important part of their group, and without him and Asmodeus, there was a massive gaping hole where their presence filled the room. They had all been far less lively, and they knew they were getting odd looks from those around them because of it.

Elizabeta pondered, "I suppose Iruma-kun being human makes sense, since I've never seen his tail or wings."

Allocer rubbed his chin, "Has anyone heard any stories about what happens to demons who drink human blood?"

Jazz felt his blood drain a bit at the thought, "Aren't demons supposed to become stronger by eating humans?"

Agares propped his chin on his hand as he glanced at those around him, "Guess that's why Iruma could summon Kalego-sensei as his familiar, since it's said humans can summon strong demons to fulfill their greed."

Vines slithered into the room from all sides as each Misfit was lifted by entangling vines. Clawed feet stepped out from the shadows as the Gargoyle of Babyls entered their disrupted circle and looked over each and every one of them with a threatening gleam in his eye. "I believe it's time we have another interview, seeing as you all left out some important details about what it was you witnessed the other day." He gave them all a stern look of warning, "Iruma-kun may be human, but he is a protected student within this school, just as you all are." There was much to take note of and research among them.

The Misfits knew their little secret was out, and Balam-sensei would get to the bottom of what it was they had done.

And how it would effect them from here on out.

It was night and Iruma couldn't sleep.

Hospitals weren't a fun place to be in in general, but he couldn't relax despite the exhaustion he felt. He'd managed to convince Asmodeus to sleep, and his soft breathing was a comfort in the otherwise quiet room.

Still. Where was his grandfather? How else could he and Asmodeus have gotten here if not for him?

He frowned in contemplation before a familiar shadow rose out of his ring, "Yo, Iru-boy."

Iruma nearly burst into tears at the sight of his life companion and whispered, "Ali-san!"

Ali nodded as he looked over his partner, "You've certainly done it this time, kiddo."

Iruma flushed at the hidden reprimand, "It's not like I was trying to get stabbed through…"

Ali hummed, "Right you are, but still… If those demons are going to continue coming after you, we need to figure out why."

Iruma blinked, "U-oh. Yeah, you're right."

Ali sighed in slight exasperation as he flopped back lazily next to Iruma with his hands cupped behind his head. Ali hummed, "There was no way to notice this before, but we kind of have a huge problem."

Iruma gave the Ego of the ring a concerned look, "Hm?"

Ali sighed softly to himself as he rolled onto his side and cupped his head lazily. "Part of your eating habits seem to have something to do with supporting myself as well." Iruma looked at him in confusion as he elaborated with a wave of his hand. "As a human, you don't produce Mana. However, you do convert food into energy. It would seem that part of our symbiotic relationship relies on your appetite, Iru-boy." He tapped the teenager on the forehead, "You've barely eaten since arriving here, and because of that, I'm starving."

Iruma gasped softly, "Y-you are?!"

Ali waved a pacifying motion towards his charge, "I'll be alright for a little while longer, but I don't believe Asmodeus is doing well either. He may not have noticed, but since he wasn't summoned into this World, his Mana is probably draining out bit by bit. I'm amazed he's still sane with how boring it is here."

Iruma inhaled shakily, "I didn't even realize…"

Ali patted him gently on the cheek in comfort, "Asmodeus is strong for your sake, so I believe we'll all get through this together, just like we always have, Iru-boy. Now get some rest."

Iruma nodded with some uncertainty, "A-alright."

Iruma slowly began to fall asleep despite his newfound worries as Ali hummed a song that felt familiar, though he knew he'd never heard it once in his life.

Iruma dreamed of playing piano, while Asmodeus and Clara played along with him in a field of flowers.

However, neither of them realized that Asmodeus was a light sleeper, and had heard every word between them.
