It was four days before her trials and ever since she'd gone to Tooma her views of the Jedi had slowly started crumbling around her. It seemed that every time she turned around there was another reason for doubt to seep into her mind. She had never questioned her lot in life so much until now. She laid on the mat of her quarters unable to sleep. All she could think about was what the Tamzin had said and what disturbed her more was the fact that she wasn't wrong No matter how much Kira wanted to ignore what she'd said she couldn't..

She had failed her knight trials; the very trials Kira was just days away from taking. What if Kira failed? She knew she would have the same mindset as the twi'lek, Kira was not one to be tamed into staying in one place for too long. She craved that adventure; it would drive her crazy being stuck talking to plants.

Not only was it the trials that kept her up at night but also what Tamzin had said about the life she almost had but never got the chance to live. She had said she was supposed to be a princess and now she was little more than a farmer with a pathetic ability to use the Force. It made Kira think of the Mandalorian with the lightning bolts. She could not get the sight of that helmet out of her head; it was as if it were burned into the back of her eyelids. She saw it every time she closed her eyes.

She cursed the Mandalorian, Jango Fett. Had she never met him she might not be in such emotional turmoil. In just a few hours with him, he'd managed to turn her entire world upside down, she hadn't even seen or spoken to the man since they parted ways. He had given her the offer to give her information on Jense Kenvor though and that made it hard not to consider it… but she was a Jedi, she could not have attachments. She already was too attached to Mace Windu, she shouldn't allow herself the opportunity to potentially grow attached to another father. She had told herself over and over that she would not take up Fett's offer to find this other Kenvor. She would not contact him.

Kira was, however, an incredibly impulsive creature.

She couldn't exactly remember getting up to grab her comlink and she certainly didn't remember entering Fett's frequency, it was as if her body was on complete autopilot. Kira was barely even a passenger on board as she pressed her back against the wall with her knees pulled to her chest as the comm chirped every few seconds as it waited for Fett to answer.

When he did, Kira's stomach leapt into her throat. The image of him lit her dark room with a light greenish-blue hue that flickered every now and then, the figure of the Mandalorian rested in the palms of her hands.

"Jedi." He greeted with the rasp of his helmet's filtering.

"Fett." She greeted back, swallowing down the knot in her throat that threatened to choke her..

"Can I do something for you?" He asked, he was clearly curious and didn't bother hiding it.

"You said you could help me."

"I'm expensive."

"The price was already paid," She said, keeping her voice quiet in hopes of not alerting anyone who might be walking outside her door. "A favor for a favor."

"You want Skirata's man?" He asked knowing that was exactly what she was after. He had been wondering how long it would take her to cave in, turns out. It wasn't long.

Kira hesitated, wondering if he would even care why she wanted to find this Mandalorian then decided it didn't matter. She needed to talk to someone about it and Mace was not the one to speak to. He wouldn't understand and likely wouldn't approve, especially this close to her trials and it would lead to questions about how she knew about a mandalorian with her name and going into detail about what actually happened on Tooma was something she'd rather not do. "Can we meet?"

Fett looked towards his left as if he were piloting his ship. "I'm almost to Mandalore. I'll send you the coordinates. Meet me there."

Kira nodded. "Okay. I'll leave now."

"Dress warm. Winters on Mandalore are very cold."

Fett vanished from the palms of her hands. Kira felt her heartbeat quicken. She did not have permission to leave the Temple, in fact, she was under strict orders to stay here to prepare for the trials. Kira had never blatantly disobeyed an order like that. She had a mouth, sure, but she'd never gone out without Mace at her side. She'd never left in the middle of the night, to meet a man she barely knew halfway across the galaxy. The stupidity of her decision was not lost on her.

"What are you doing, Kenvor?" She asked herself. What exactly she was getting herself into, she had no idea. All she knew was that she was going to be in massive trouble for it, it might even cause her expulsion from the Jedi Order. Was it worth it? "Kriff it." She said getting up and quickly packed her things into a hold-all before pulling the strap over her shoulder. She slipped through the temple, being in the dead of night, it wasn't a challenge. She slipped right through to the hangar completely unnoticed. She boarded a small one-man fighter and typed in the coordinates. Before she began the lift-off cycle, she killed the tracking beacon on her comlink and on the ship. She couldn't have Mace track her down. This was something she needed to do on her own. She hoped he wouldn't be too upset when she returned.

Before she knew it, she was already jumping into lightspeed headed for a planet she'd never been to, to meet a Mandalorian she barely knew and openly admitted to hating and killing Jedi on a promise that he would bring her to a man who shared her name. The chances of it going wrong were incredibly high and the chances that this other Kenvor was actually a relative were even lower but Kira found herself not caring about the consequences. She had to do this, if she didn't she would spend a lifetime regretting it regardless of what happens.

"Force be with me." She said quietly to herself.

Mandalore was nothing like she'd expected, the planet was a complete wasteland except for several large domed cities, rural grasslands and forests that were sparsely spread throughout the planet. She'd read up on Mandalore on the trip there and the planet had been torn apart from the Mandalorians' many wars over the centuries. Kira guided her ship towards a domed city that was significantly smaller than the large city on the opposite side of the planet. She checked and rechecked the coordinates Fett had given her and as far as she knew, this was where she was to meet him.

The closer she got, miles of snow laid like a blanket over the fields and forests. She'd never been this far out in the outer rim on her own, she'd always been accompanied by Mace and she was heading right into the snake's nest. Mandalorians and Jedi were ancient enemies but still… there was another Kenvor out there. She couldn't help the ever-recurring thought that maybe this was her home planet, that she was Mandalorian in another life or otherwise. She knew meeting this man might bring more conflict within her but something inside her was telling her she just had to do it.

The center console chirped, Kira jumped, startled. "Incoming craft, please identify yourself."

"I am Kiratta Kenvor, sending in my clearance code." There was a pause.

"What business do you have here, Jetii." The male space trafficker's voice asked, he didn't even bother to hide the immediate distrust in his voice.

"Well, that didn't last long…" She muttered to herself. Fett had told her the Mandalorians had a real distrust of Jedi and she certainly believed it. "I have business with Jango Fett." She answered.

"Land at these coordinates, bay three."

"Thank you." She said and did exactly as instructed. She landed the ship in a city called Keldabe.

Fett was right, Mandalore was cold. Keldabe was packed with eclectic buildings of all shapes and materials. The city wrapped around the Kelita River, out in the forests a few settlements and farms could be seen from the air. These people were all warriors, even their children but she hadn't expected them to be farmers as well, though no farming would be happening this time of year. The snow was thick and blinding white. She half thought she was on Hoth with how cold it was. Kira pulled a poncho over her head before tying her hair in a knot at the base of her neck, wrapping her padawan braid in the knot as well, concealing her status as a Jedi learner.

Fett had instructed her to meet him at a brewery called Oyu-baat tapcaf, she clipped her lightsabers to the back of her belt, hiding the weapons beneath the tan poncho. She didn't want to be seen as a threat, but she also wasn't going to walk in blindly without a weapon. She wasn't a complete idiot.

She found the tapcaf fairly easily, the building looked ancient. Well over a thousand years old. The winter winds blew hard; Kira could barely see through the falling snow. She wasn't sure why Fett would be drinking on a day like this but then again, she didn't really know him. She shook off what snow had built up around her shoulders and in her hair before she walked through the doors. She was immediately granted with every eye on her. Mandalorians obviously knew an outsider when they saw one. The bartender looked up from wiping off the counter and gave her a distrusting look.

"What are you doing here, aruetii?" He asked.

Kira didn't know what the word meant but she could assume it wasn't polite. She was the only one in the whole cantina without the Mandalorian beskar armor and she stuck out like a sore thumb, there were several different color schemes and designs but none she recognized as Fett. "Uh…" She mumbled. "I'm looking for a man named Jango Fett." She asked, trying her best to be as polite as humanly possible, Mandalorians were not the type of people you wanted as your enemy and they were known for having short tempers.

The bartender motioned his head towards the corner of the room. "Over there."

The rest of the patrons went back to their drinks though a few of them kept an eye on her. Kira bowed her head slightly in thanks before scanning the room searching for that blue and silver helmet of Jango Fett but didn't see a single one. She wandered in towards the direction the bartender pointed, she kept her hands folded in front of her, careful not to accidentally bump into anyone and cause a fight.

"Kenvor." An accented voice behind her called out, Kira's head snapped in the direction of his voice still searching for the helmet, when she finally found it. He was in the very back, in a secluded booth alone with a glass of something clear in front of him. She strode over before stopping at his table.

"Hello, Jango." She greeted, he motioned her to sit. She took his invitation and sat down across from him at the edge of her seat folding her hands in her lap uncomfortably.

Fett seemed to be studying her, calculating every move she made, every facial expression and every shift of her eyes. "I wasn't sure I'd ever hear from you again."

Kira shrugged. "You know, I didn't either."

"And what changed it?" He was intrigued.

"I suppose I've had a few experiences that changed my mind."

"I see."

He didn't ask but Kira felt like it deserved an explanation, she was sure he didn't care but she spoke anyway. "In four days, I'm supposed to take my trials to become a Jedi Knight. I've never worried about failing them until I met you. Until you told me about Jense Kenvor and what happened at Galidraan… and the Jedi..." She trailed off, unsure of how to word what she wanted to say.

"So, you're starting to doubt the Jedi." Jango toyed with the rim of his glass, Kira watched as his gloved finger ran across the condensation that built up on the sides.

There was no point in denying it. "Yes." She said, saying it as if it was hard to admit. It was. The Jedi was the only way she knew and the doubt she felt was unsettling. "If I fail the knight trials, I'll get sent to the Service Corps and I am not spending the rest of my life talking to plants."

"You sound certain you'll fail."

"I'm not." She disagreed. "But if I fail, I need to see what life I could have lived had I not been a Jedi."

"So you can live in regret? Why try to learn anything if you can't change it… unless…?" He asked, leaving the invitation for her to finish his thought.

"Yeah." She said simply answering his unasked question.

Jango chuckled. "So, you're looking for a Plan B."

"…Sort of." Kira shrugged.

He nodded. "Well, Skirata is on his way, he will be here shortly."

"Not Jense?"

"He wants to make sure you are legitimate before he brings in Kenvor. Says he doesn't believe his kid is alive."

Kira raised an eyebrow. "Who said anything about a kid?"

Jango leaned back in his seat before crossing his leg, ankle to knee. "Skirata says Kenvor's wife was killed a little under two decades ago when Death Watch first re-emerged from exile. They bombed his homestead while he was away on a job. He was only able to extract the body of his wife and not his kid. He assumed she died in the explosion and that there was nothing left to find."

Kira hesitated, her eyes shifting away from Fett's visor. That was an awful thing to experience, she understood why Kenvor would be skeptical. "Does he say anything about any Jedi? Assuming this man is... my father…," She said struggling over the words my father. "And that child was me, I had to have come to the Jedi somehow."

Fett shrugged. "I don't have all the answers."

Kira nodded leaning back against the back of her chair. She was having second thoughts again; she was about to open a page in her own story she'd never remember and was likely better off not knowing. She wanted to find out but was also terrified of what she would learn and how she would feel afterwards. What would she do if Jense wanted her to come back with him? To leave the Jedi? Would she? Would she turn her back on the only life she'd ever known? Could she turn her back on Mace most of all? She had an undying loyalty towards him. The thought of never seeing Mace again made her sick to her stomach. An even more unsettling thought, what if Jense wanted nothing to do with her? She could be sacrificing everything she had if it all went wrong it would devastate her. "Okay…" She said. "So, this Skirata guy, somehow he's going to know whether or not I'm this guy's kid?"

"Kenvor is his first in command," Fett said. "He said he would know."

Kira shrugged uncomfortably, squeezing her hands tightly together under her poncho. "Okay…"

Jango waved over the waitress, "Order whatever you like," He said. "It's on me."

"I'll just get a water." She said, the waitress nodded and left. "So, what should I expect about this Skirata guy?"

"He's short and angry about it." Jango said. Kira let out a snort of a laugh. "He's a very traditional Mando. If you ever decide to leave your Jedi Order and become one of us, he's the one to talk to."

Kira raised an eyebrow. "Good to know." She stared at her cup before her eyes met Fett's visor. "I suppose it's not too late to walk away is it?"

"It's not," He agreed. "But you'll go back regretting it if you walk away now." He was right. She would regret it for the rest of her life if she didn't at least try. Kira leaned back in her seat when the door opened from across the bar and a short man in sand-gold armor walked through. "That's him." Jango said. The man crossed the bar room floor and walked towards Kira and Jango.

"Mand'alor." He greeted as he and Jango clasped forearms. Kira felt an instant tension in the air between Fett and Skirata. She couldn't begin to guess why but then again, Fett seemed like a selfish loner so perhaps that had something to do with it. His helmeted visor glanced down at Kira; she could feel his scrutiny. She was an outsider on his planet, Kira doubted many who weren't mandalorian ended up on Mandalore. "Well, you certainly look like a Kenvor." He said amused, Kira couldn't begin to imagine what he meant but she took it as a good sign.

He held his hand out to her, Kira reached out and clasped his forearm mimicking the way he and Jango did moments before. "I hope that is a good thing." She said with a nervous laugh.

He took a seat beside her and reached up and removed his helmet before setting it on the floor beside his feet. Kira couldn't help but wonder why Jango hadn't done that, she was curious on what lay underneath. "It might be, are you actually a Kenvor, is the real question though." Skirata said. He was in his forties, light brown hair and blue eyes. He reminded her of a colonel in a holovid she'd once seen.

"The name I've been called is Kiratta Kenvor. I don't know where I came from or who I was born to, though. When I met Jango he said he knew of one who shared my name and so here I am." She said, readjusting her poncho, knotting it up in her fists.

"Fett told me you met him about a month ago, why wait so long?" He asked.

Kira hesitated again. She didn't know either of them well enough to trust them, but she saw no reason to lie and Jango already knew what she was. The truth would likely have a better outcome coming from her than anyone else. "Because I'm a Jedi apprentice, Sir." She said, being sure to be on her best behavior. Skirata made a face and glanced over at Fett but made no remark on it. "Being here could cost me passing my knight trials but… I had to take the chance and find this Jense Kenvor. Even if it ends up not being what I'm hoping it is, it will put my mind at ease to continue the life I've had set before me."

Kal Skirata glanced over at Jango once again, intrigued now and touched his chin musing. "And if it happens that Jense is a relative of yours? What then?"

The waitress returned with Kira's water and set it down before her. She toyed with it as her eyes shifted down and shrugged. "Then it changes everything."

Kal nodded, considering his next words. "He lost his wife and daughter in a bombing several years ago. He found the body of his wife but not his kid. You're about the age that his daughter would be if she'd actually lived and if we're being honest, you look exactly like the man."

Kira felt her heart skip a beat and lodge itself in her throat, that sounded like a good thing. If anything it was a start and that gave her hope. "So, where is he now? Does he know I came looking for him?"

"He knows that there is someone looking for him." He said resting his hand on his knee. "He's not a trusting man though." Kira nodded, unsure of what to say. "There is one thing you need to know before you meet him."

"What's that?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.

"He hates Jedi." He said.

"Don't you all?" Kira deadpanned. That was no secret, she wasn't stupid.

Kal huffed a laugh. "He is meeting with a client on Mes Cresta. I am supposed to bring a team and meet him there, help us do this job and we'll get you a formal introduction."

"Okay." She said. "I'll help."

Jango cleared his throat. "If my part in this is complete, I have work to do."

Kira's eyes shot to him. She barely knew him, but she knew Skirata and Kenvor even less and this was something she did not want to do alone. Fett was as close to a friend as could be in the moment and she didn't want to go without him. "Come with me." She pleaded then added a quiet. "Please."

Kal looked between her and Fett and raised an eyebrow towards his Mand'alor curious to see if he would bend to the will of a small Jedi female. Fett obeyed no one but himself, he was selfish like that. "We could use the extra help, Mand'alor." Skirata couldn't hold back the smirk when Fett let out an annoyed sigh.

"Fine." He said in defeat.

The corner of Kira's mouth turned up in a relieved smile. Kal had a lot of questions about this Jedi but none he wanted to ask Fett while she was around. "Well, let's grab a bite to eat and head that way. Jense will be waiting for us."

"What kind of job is it?" Jango asked as Kal ordered a plate of various appetizers for the table to share.

"Apparently there is a group of indiginous people who have taken a fancy at kidnapping the townspeople and killing them. We've been tasked with eliminating them before too many more civilians end up on pikes."

"Sounds easy enough." Jango said as the waitress brought back the appetizers, Kira's stomach grumbled in hunger as the smells found her nose but she was too uncomfortable to take anything without being offered. "Who all do you have going?"

"Well, including us three, Jense, there's Wad'e Tay'haai, and Mij Gilimar." Kal said, popping a piece of fish in his mouth. "That's six."

"Why are they killing people?" Kira couldn't help herself, she wanted to know as much as possible about the job she was risking her neck for and if it would compromise any moral standings she might have. "If they're the native people on that planet then they likely have good reason for wanting these people off their land."

"They probably do," Kal agreed. "But our job isn't to ask whether something is right or wrong. We get paid to do the job and leave your emotions out of it but that shouldn't be hard for you, Jetii. Isn't that what your people preach?"

"Eh… sort of."

Jango toyed with the rim of his drink again as he listened to Kal and Kira. "How much is he paying?"

"Fifty thousand credits." Kal answered and checked his chrono.

Kira couldn't stop the surprised expression that crossed her face. That was a lot of credits. She never had a need for them personally, the Jedi Order provided her with everything she needed but still, it was a lot of credits for one job.

Kira watched as he continued toying with the rim of his glass, it was like he wanted to drink it but wasn't comfortable with Kira seeing his face. She was still uncomfortable with the two Mandalorians but decided to tease Jango a little to get a gauge on him. Relying on each other to survive was different from normal life. She couldn't trust him as she might have back on Tooma. She reached across the table to the condiment caddy and pulled out a straw, she discarded the wrapping and popped it in his drink.

"What are you doing?" He asked, annoyed.

"You've been toying with that drink since I got here," She said. "I've always heard Mandalorians don't take their helmets off so I figured I'd help you out a little. Now, you can drink without having to take off your helmet."

Kal glanced at Kira out of the corner of his eye but mostly watched Jango's reaction but couldn't help the laugh that escaped from his lips, Fett's head slowly turned to look at him in what Kira could only guess was disgust. Kal smirked and glanced back at Kira, he couldn't begin to explain what Fett was thinking but he hadn't incinerated her on the spot and that spoke volumes for him, especially since she was a Jedi. Then he wondered exactly why he hadn't already killed her. He knew the hell Fett went through after Galidraan and he knew the hate he had for her kind.

"How considerate." Jango said dryly.

"Just looking out for you, Man." Kira smiled and gave him a quick playful wink.
