Kristoff has had a rough time since this new winter began. His ice business went bad. He was broke. And now he was escorting Princess Anna to a mountain. But hey, at least he has equipment to harvest some ice and carrots for Sven. As the reindeer picked up speed after getting through a mountain pass, he decided to warn the princess. "Hang on, we like to go fast."
"I like fast." she said as she put her boots on the sled's front.
"Wow, wow, wow, wow." he said, not wanting his sled to get ruined. He pushed her feet to the floor. "Get your feet down. This is fresh lacquer. Seriously, were you raised in a barn?" he asked before spitting on the front and rubbing it.
"No, I was raised in a castle." she answered as he accepted his polishing job. He might not like this early winter, but he wasn't going to let his sled get ruined. As they continued on the path, he decided to start up a conversation. "So, uh, tell me. What made the Queen go all ice crazy?"
"Oh, well. It was all my fault. I got engaged, but then she freaked out because I only just met him. You know, that day, and she said she wouldn't bless the marriage." she said and Kristoff could not believe what he was hearing. Engaged to someone she just met.
"Wait, you just got engaged to some you met that day?" he asked, thinking he might have heard it wrong.
"Yeah. Anyway, I got mad and so she got made, and then she tried to walk away, and I grabbed her glove." Anna answered and he interrupted her trying to understand something.
"You mean to tell me you got engaged to someone you just met that day?" he asked in disbelief.
"Yes, pay attention." she answered, going back to the story. "The thing is, she wore the gloves all the time. So I thought maybe she has a thing about dirt."
"Didn't your parents ever warn you about strangers?" he asked, bewildered that she ha very little common sense.
"Yes, I did." she said, scooting away from him. "But Hans is not a stranger." He smirked, thinking he can prove her wrong.
"Oh, yeah, what's his last name?" he asked and she scoffed.
"Of the Southern Isles."
"What's his favorite food?"
"Sandwiches."
"Best friend name?"
"Probably John."
"Eye color?"
"Dreamy."
"Foot size?"
"Foot size doesn't matter."
"Have you had a meal with him yet?" he asked, knowing she has no idea about this guy. "What if you hate the way he eats? What if you hate the way he picks his nose?"
"Picks his nose?"
"And eats it?" he asked, just wanting to see her reaction.
"Excuse me, sir, he is a prince."
"All men do it."
"Ew. Look, it doesn't matter. It's true love." she said, annoyed at him.
"Doesn't sound like true love."
"Are you some sort of love expert?"
"No." he admitted to her internal joy. "But I have friends who are."
"You have friends who are love experts?" she said mockingly as he heard something in the woods. "I'm not buying it." she continued as the sled came to a stop.
"Stop talking."
"No, no, no, no. I like to meet these." she said before he covered her mouth.
"No, I mean it." he warned. She tossed his arm down and was about to continue, but he hushed her. He shined his lantern to the woods, trying to see what was out there. Looking to the back, he noticed something. Bright eyes and growls. "Sven go." he said and the reindeer ran pulling the sled with him.
"What are they?"
"Wolves."
"Wolves?" she said as he leaned to the back of the sled for a torch and Hiccup's new invention he wanted Kristoff to test out. He just wished it wasn't tonight. "What do we do?"
"I got this. Just don't fall off and don't get eaten." he answered, lighting the torch. He inspected the glass jar of what Hiccup called, Zippleback gas. That guy had to stop naming everything after his people's legends.
"But I want to help."
"No." he said as he lit the sting on top.
"Why not?" she asked and he threw it towards the chasing wolves.
"Because I don't trust your judgement." he said, trying to see if it worked.
"Excuse me."
"Who marries a man." he was saying as he pushed a wolf off. "She just met."
"It's true love." she replied and he noticed his lute in her hands.
"Wow." he said before she smacked a wolf away from the sled. "Oh." he said. A moment later, a wolf bit his sleeve, pulling him off the sled.
"Christopher!" she yelled as he managed to grab the end of a rope.
"It's Kristoff!" he yelled correctly to her. Two wolves bit into him, making Sven go faster.
"Duck!" she yelled before throwing a burning bedding at him. He ducked his head and the two wolves were sent back. He began to climb the rope back to the sled.
"You almost set me on fire!" he remarked as Anna helped him up.
"But I didn't." she noted and the two rushed back to the front of the sled. Sven made a noise and the two humans looked to see a gorge coming in fast. "Get ready to jump, Sven."
"You don't tell him want to do." he said before giving her a bag of supplies. He held her up, knowing they don't have much time. "I do." he said as he tossed her onto the reindeer. "Jump, Sven." he ordered as he cut the rope connecting them. His friend jumped forward, making over the gorge. Kristoff jumped off the sled and manged to get his upper body on the other side. The wolves had no choice but to end the chase. He looked down to see the sled burning thanks to Monstrous Nightmare Gel gifted to him by Hiccup. "But I just paid it off." he grumbled before feeling the snow under him give way. As he began to slid further, he tried to grab onto something, only to pull snow. Moments later, a pick land in front of him
"Grab on!" Anna yelled and he grabbed it. She and Sven began to pull him up, dragging snow. When he was in the clear he rolled over, trying to control his breathing "Wow." she said and he just sighed, putting his hands on his face in defeat. "I'll replace your sled and everything in it." she said. "And I understand if you don't want to help me anymore." she finished before walking away, leaving the man and reindeer alone.
"Of course, I don't want to help her anymore." Kristoff said as she was out of range of his voice. "In fact, this whole thing has ruined me for helping anyone ever again."
"She'll die on her own." Kristoff mimicking Sven's voice.
"I can live with that."
"But you won't get your new sled if she's dead."
"Maybe Hiccup can lend me his cart."
"Still not a sled."
"Sometimes I really don't like you." Kristoff said and the reindeer was excited. "Hold up! We're coming."
"You are! I mean sure. I'll let you tag along." Anna said as Sven rushed to the Princess.

Hiccup has had only had a few hours of sleep since this winter began. Many people were appreciated of his help. Prince Hans has shown his appreciation, but something inside of Hiccup's stomach turns at every moment. Something was just off. The young inventor was walking through the city seeing few on the streets. Everyone was inside, only leaving the little warmth for supplies. When he reached his shop, he saw a group of people gathered around the fireplace through the window. He walked and closed the door before letting too much cold in. The warmth was a great relief for him. The people cheered to see him.
"Hello everyone." he awkwardly said as he turned to Kari. "What's going on?"
"Oh, some people's homes were getting repaired before winter, but it came early. I'm sorry if I did something wrong." the young lady said and he shook his head.
"You did nothing wrong. I would have done the same thing." he reassured her and she let out a sigh of relief.
"Didn't expect this to happen, did ya." she said and he chuckled.
"Nope. A magical winter is far from my experience." he said before noticing an empty box of Nightmare Gel. "Need more Gel?" he asked and she nodded.
"Gave the last of it to the orphanage an hour ago." she admitted.
"Okay then. I'll run by the castle to see if they need anything, then to the farm for more supplies." he said before walking out of the shop. He carefully rushed to the castle to find a crowd gathered around Prince Hans. Then he spotted Princess Anna's horse. Something happened. "What's going on?" he asked as horses were brought forth. The Prince looked
"Princess Anna is missing. I'm leading volunteers to find her and bring Elsa back if we have too." the Prince answered before climbing onto his horse.
"I'll volunteer too." Hiccup said wanting to be useful. He spotted a distrustful look on the Prince.
"Mister Haddock, I've seen how the people trust you. I need someone to watch over Arendelle while I'm gone. Can I trust you?" the Prince asked and Hiccup nodded.
"I will." he said.
"Everyone, listen to Hiccup Haddock. I will return as soon as I can." the Prince said before leading the group. Hiccup turned to the castle servants and guards who stayed.
"Continue giving out warm blankets and clothes. We need to make sure Arendelle stays warm until summer returns." Hiccup ordered and they continued their duty. As he walked to the castle to get more blankets, a noble walked to his side.
"Excuse me, are you a duke or a count?" the noble asked.
"Neither." Hiccup said surprising the man.
You aren't a commoner, are you?" he asked and Hiccup nodded. "Then why would Prince Hans asked for you to lead Arendelle in his absence?"
"Because I earned more of his trust than a noble such as yourself." Hiccup answered.
"I am the Duke of Weselton. You have no right to speak to me like that." the Duke said.
"I was given temporary command of Arendelle until either the Prince, Princess, or Queen returns. Not to mention, this isn't Weselton." Hiccup said to the annoyance of the Duke. "Now you can either help or stay warm."
"Or you can stop giving away Arendelle's trade goods." the Duke said.
"My father has this saying, 'A Chief takes care of his people.' These are my people, and for now I am their chief in a way." Hiccup said as he stopped and turned to face the Duke. The man was shocked at Hiccup's stance. He walked away and the short term leader walked towards the blankets.
Sorry if this isn't like my usual work. Got some big news. Might be gone for a while. I'll try to keep up with this story, but I got to deal with something.
