Episode 4: There's No Place Like Hoenn
Continuing on their journey. Mew, May, Tomo, Molly, and the Pokemon arrive on the hill to see Petalburg City over the horizon.
"There it is. Petalburg City," Molly says.
"Yes! We've finally arrived!" Tomo says.
Mew turns to her Pokemon, "Pikachu, Eevee, our first battle in the Hoenn region is comin' up!"
"Pikachu!" (Then let's go!) Pikachu says.
"Eevee Eevee!" (Yeah, let's go!) Eevee says.
"Yeah. I suppose, Ashley." May replies, sounding nervous.
"Come on everyone, let's go," Mew says.
Everyone begins walking down the hill and makes their way to Petalburg City and finds the gym.
"So, Petalburg Gym's a big deal, huh?" May asks.
"Well yeah, if I win a gym battle there, I get a badge, and once I get eight of those badges, I can compete in the Hoenn League!" Mew says.
"That sounds great, I guess," May says.
The Pokemon agree.
Tomo asks, "Hey May, are you planning on competing in the Hoenn League?"
May sheepishly answers, "Uh, oh, yeah! Of course, Tomo!"
"Okay," Mew says, noticing the odd tone.
She then says, "Wonder what the Petalburg gym leader's gonna be like."
"I'm sure he's a nice guy," May says.
"Do you know him, May?" Molly asks.
"Me? Well I don't really know him that well," May says, "The word on the street is Norman's very kind and also very strong and, of course, I hear he's very handsome and a really great man!"
"Sounds like you know him pretty well," Mew says.
"Uh... No, I just wish I did," May quickly says and turns around, seeming to be a little nervous.
Then Mew has an idea, "Hey, I know! Why don't you come with me and the others, and then we can meet him together?"
"Well, I really can't. Uh…" May says, sounding unsure.
"How come?" Tomo asks.
"Well, you see…" May says, sounding unsure.
"Pika?" (Why not?) Pikachu questions.
"I just have to go and take care of a few things first," May says.
"Huh?" Mew and the others say, confused.
"Later, guys," May says and runs away giggling.
"Uh okay," Tomo replies.
The other Pokemon say their goodbyes.
"I don't know why, but I got a weird sense of deja vu from this," Mew replies.
Suddenly, they hear a familiar voice, "Is that you Mew?"
The group soon turns their heads to see another familiar girl with an Amaura.
"Jen!" Mew says, surprised and with a smile.
"Hey guys, I knew I found you around here," Jen says.
The Pokemon happily greet Amaura and are glad to see her again.
"It's great to see you, Jen," Tomo says.
"What are you doing in Petalburg City? I thought you were heading back to the Orange Islands?" Mew asks.
"Well, after returning home, I see that everything is fine, and Kate has been doing great as a gym leader, so I've decided to continue traveling and hope to catch up with you. I met Nurse Joy from Oldale Town and told me you were coming here for a gym battle," Jen says.
"And then you found us," Mew says.
"Does that mean you're going to travel with us again?" Molly asks.
"Sure am," Jen says.
"That's great," Tomo says.
"Yeah. Glad to have you back," Mew says, "Come on, let's head to the gym."
Soon enough, Mew and the others are at the Petalburg Gym that looks kind of like a dojo.
"Here we are at the Petalburg Gym," Mew says.
"You guys are ready for a battle?" Tomo asks.
New replies, "Sure am." as Pikachu, and Eevee reply in their own language.
Soon, everyone enters the gym.
Mew calls out, "Hello? I'm Ashley! I'm from Pallet Town! I'd like a battle!"
However, no one answers
"That's weird," Tomo says.
"No one's here," Molly says.
Mew calls out, "Is anybody here? Hello?"
Soon, someone enters the room, "Can you please keep it down?"
Everyone turns to see a small young boy. He has short, dark cyan hair and brown eyes, much like his father. He wears a money-green-colored T-shirt with a white collar and button, charcoal-colored shorts and green, black and white slip-on shoes without (or no-show) socks. He also wears black, framed half-moon glasses.
"I'm right in the middle of watching a video of the Silver Conference!" The boy says.
"We're sorry, but I've come here to battle with the Petalburg Gym leader. My name is Ashley, and these are my friends, Tomo, Jen, and Molly. Piakchu and Eevee are my partners. Tomo's Pokemon are Meloetta and Skwovet. And Jen has Amaura.
"Hey," Tomo says.
"Hi," Molly says.
"Hello," Jen says.
Max blushes a bit to see Jen, but makes sure to keep a cool head.
"It's nice to meet you, I'm Max, and I'm leader of the Petalburg Gym," Max says.
This leaves everyone dumbfounded.
"Huh?" Molly and Jen reply.
"Oh, yeah! The Petalburg gym leader is yours truly! Ta-da!" Max says with confidence.
Jen replies sarcastically, "Right."
"Yeah, sure," Tomo adds sarcastically.
"I am! What, you think I'm not good enough?!" Max cries out.
"Calm down, Max. I'm just saying I have trouble believing you. You're really young to be a gym leader. Also I heard that the Gym Leader's name was Norman," Mew says.
"Uh…" Max says, sounding uneasy, "Well, uh, the thing is…"
Suddenly, they hear a familiar voice, "Hi Max. What's going on here?"
Everyone turns their heads to see May
Max sheepishly says, "Uh... Hi there, sis!"
"Sis?" Molly says, confused.
"May's your sister?" Mew asks.
Soon, a man walks in from May's left. A tall, lean, middle-aged man with short black hair with a single fringe at the center with three edges and dark eyes. He wears a dark red, long jacket with a black collar, blue-gray trousers and black boots.
"Well, then, who have we here?" The man says.
Soon, a woman walks in from May's right. A middle-aged woman with brown hair that is styled zigzag two pigtails, lavender eyes and light pink lipstick. She wears a yellow sleeveless shirt with a white stripe covering her shoulders. She also wears a brown sash around her belly, an orange skirt, white high-heeled sandals and a pair of violet spherical earrings.
"Hello!" The woman says.
"Uh, can someone tell us what's going on?" Mew asks.
Max nervously chuckles.
Then May notices Jen, "Um hello."
"Hi," Jen says.
A bit later….
May introduces to everyone, "Mew, Tomo, Molly, I'd like you to meet my mother and father."
May and Max's father says, "Pleased to meet you. I'm Norman."
"And I'm Caroline," The mother says.
"And you've already met my little brother, Max," May says.
"And this is our friend, Jen. She lives in the Orange Islands," Mew says.
"Hi," Jen says, "And this is my partner Amaura."
"You see, my dad is the real leader of the Petalburg Gym," Max says.
"That's right," Norman says.
"So that means you're actually from the Petalburg Gym, huh May?" Tomo asks.
May gets nervous, "Why, uh, yes," and laughs nervously.
"We really appreciate you all bringing May all the way home," Caroline says.
"Oh, sure. But really, we didn't do much of anything at all!" Mew says.
Jen soon remembers, "By the way, Mew. I forgot to ask. Why is your hair black and cut short?"
"Huh? Mew? But her name is Ashley," May says, taking an interest.
"Well it's a bit of a long story," Mew says, sheepishly.
"True, but Molly and Spencer also called you Mew," May says, "Why is it? Is it your nickname? And you promised to tell me why when we got here."
"That's true. I did promise," Mew says.
She takes a deep breath and explains, "You see, Ashley isn't my real name. It's mainly a fake name so no one will get suspicious of who I really am."
"Who you really are? You mean, like a disguise?" May asks.
"Yes," Mew says. She then turns to Max, "Hey Max, you said you've watched the Silver Conference, did you happen to see a girl with teal color hair, a girl named Mew."
"Yep. sure did. She was amazing," Max says, "I heard that she won the Pokemon League in Kanto. Defeated the Orange Crew and their leader, and just won the Silver Conference. I hear that she has a Zeraora, who is said to be her papa. That battle he had with the Blaziken was so awesome."
Mew giggles, "Thank you, Max. My papa really did well with his match."
"Huh? Papa?" Max says, confused.
Mew then explains, "You see, my real name is Mew, and it's true that I've lived in Pallet Town.
This comes as a shock to May and her family, they have no clue that she was the famous trainer who won the Silver Conference in the Johto Region.
"You are?!" May asks, shocked.
Max however is ecstatic, "No way! You're really the Mew, the trainer who lives in Pallet Town. Won both the Kanto League and Johto Conference?!"
"Yep. That's me," Mew says.
Then Max turns to Eevee, "That means, you're her Eevee that can use Thunderbolt and Stone Edge! That's so cool!"
Eevee smiles in response.
Then turns to Max, "And you must be her Pikachu that can perform powerful Thunder Attacks!"
Pikachu nods with a smile.
"This is so exciting! I'm actually meeting the youngest Conference winner in the flesh!" Max happily says looking at Mew.
Caroline says, "Okay Max, calm down."
"But, why the disguise?" May asks.
"To have more freedom to travel. I don't want to get hassled by reporters and news casts while in Hoenn, so I put on this disguise and use a different name," Mew says.
She then apologizes, "I'm sorry I had to trick you like that."
"It's okay. I understand. And don't worry, your secret is safe," May says.
"Thanks May," Mew says.
Just then, Caroline asks May, "Oh, and by the way, dear. What happened to your bike?"
"Uh, well, you see, Mom..." May sheepishly says.
That's when May explained about the incident involving Pikachu having been sick with an electrical build up. Thanks to Team Rocket, Pikachu is cured and uses Thunderbolt to shock their battery robot, and as a result, May's bike got burnt.
"Sorry, May," Mew apologizes.
Even Pikachu apologizes, "Pika Pika!" (Very sorry.)
"That's not a big deal. Bikes are replaceable," Norman says
"And walking is better for your health anyway," Caroline adds.
Then Norman asks May, "Tell me, May, what kind of Pokémon did you end up getting from Professor Birch anyway?"
This has Max excited, "Oh, yeah! Tell us, May! What did you get?"
"You'll see," May says. She then calls out, "Torchic, come on out!"
And Torchic comes out of the Pokeball, happily saying, "Torchic!" (Hello!)
Max however, is very disappointed, "What?! Why'd you pick that?! If it were me, I definitely would have picked a Treecko!"
Torchic gets agitated by the comment and starts pecking Max while Mew and the others chuckle and cover their mouths.
May tries to get Torchic to stop, "Torchic, stop that right now!"
"I think Torchic's a fine Pokémon to start out with," Norman says.
"And, May, it's cute as a button!" Caroline says.
May chuckles, "Yeah!"
Still disappointed, Max says, "Man, I just wish that I could have my own Pokémon. I'd just love to have a Treecko."
But then Torchic started Pecking Max again.
Max cries out in pain, "Ow! Ow! Ow! Get off of me! Stop it!"
Mew giggles as Tomo and the others laugh.
Then Caroline asks, "Mew, why don't you and your friends join us for lunch? You all must be starved."
"Thank you," Mew says.
"We sure are," Tomo says.
Jen and Molly agree.
Later, everyone sit down for lunch.
"May tells me that you've been traveling for a long time," Caroline says.
"We sure have," Mew says.
"That sounds so cool. I'd love to go to different places, too," Max says.
"And have you all traveled together?" Caroline asks.
"Yes. At first it was just me, Pikachu, and Eevee, but then I started traveling with two good friends. Then Tomo joined us. While at the Orange Islands we met Jen. And in Johto we met Molly. So now, it is just the four of us, including our Pokemon."
The Pokemon agree
"Well, that's good! Traveling with friends is always much easier," Norman says.
"Oh, yeah. And it's a lot more fun too," May says and takes a bite of her sandwich.
"I only wish I could go traveling around with a bunch of my good buddies. That'd be great!" Max says.
Jen turns to Max, "Sounds like you really want to become a trainer?"
"I sure do," Max quickly answers.
He then calms down, "Sorry."
"It's okay," Jen says.
Then Max says, "It's amazing that you have an Amaura, they usually lived only in prehistoric times. So it's amazing to see one in real life."
"Thank you. My big sister is part of the Orange Crew and she specializes in Prehistoric Pokemon," Jen says, "Sometime ago, Kate and I got shipwrecked and we ended up on the island and became friends with the Prehistoric Pokemon living on a single island. Now my sister managed to make it into a Pokemon preserve and a gym."
"That's amazing," Max says.
May turns to Tomo, "What about you Tomo?"
"Well, it's a long story, but my parents died in a helicopter crash. I used to live in the Pokemon Preserve in Kanto with a herd of Kangaskhan living there. After meeting Mew and the others, My mother Kangaskhan, my sister, and I started traveling with them," Tomo says.
"I'm sorry to hear what happened, but glad everything turned out alright for you," May says.
"Thanks May. Right now Mama Kangaskhan and my sister are at the corral with Professor Oak," Tomo says.
"What about you, Molly?" Max asks.
"My papa is out doing research at some of the ruins. My papa is Spencer Hale and he's a great Pokemon researcher. I used to be very lonely, but now I have great Pokemon friends, and Mew and the others," Molly says.
"Sounds cool," Max says.
Then May says, "Dad, Mew would like to have a gym battle with you."
"Yeah. Hope that's okay," Mew says.
"Of course, you three," Norman says, "So how many badges have you each earned so far?"
"This'll be the first one," Mew says.
"So you're just all getting started?" Norman questions.
"Yes," Mew says, "What are the Petalburg Gym rules?"
Then Max clarifies, "It's a three-on-three elimination?"
"Is that really true?" Mew asks.
"Yes," Norman says.
"That's cool," Mew says.
"We'll have our battle right after lunch," Norman says.
"Sure," Mew.
Sometime later, after lunch, everyone is on the battlefield.
"Alright, Pikachu, let's go!" Mew says.
"Pikachu!" (Let's do it!) Pikachu says.
Then Norman calls out his Pokemon, "Okay, Vigoroth! I chose you!"
And Vigoroth comes out. Vigoroth is a white, sloth-like, bipedal Pokémon with a teardrop-shaped tuft of red fur on its forehead. It has stubby ears, two small, triangular teeth in each jaw, a brown lower jaw, and large eyes encircled by brown rings. There are two stripes on its back, which are also brown. Its arms are long, and its hands and feet have two sharp black claws. The undersides of its hands and feet have circular red pads, and its rear also has a baboon-like patch of red. The fur on its chest, tail, and sides of its maw are shaggy.
"Woah a Vigoroth?" Mew says and checks her Pokedex.
The Pokedex says, "Vigoroth, the Wild Monkey Pokémon. A Norman Type. Vigoroth is only comfortable going berserk. Will destroy anything in its path by spinning both arms and goes more berserk when done."
Vigoroth readies its claws, worrying Mew and Pikachu, before roaring and stomping, startling them.
"Check it out! Dad's Vigoroth is rarin' to go!" Max says.
"It's really big," Jen says.
"Yeah," Tomo says.
Mew calls out, "Now, Pikachu, go!"
"Pika!" (Here goes!) Piakchu says.
Norman then calls out, "Vigoroth! Use Scratch attack, now!"
Vigoroth charges in
"Pikachu, dodge it!" Mew calls out.
But Vigoroth proves to be faster and sends Pikachu flying.
"Pikachu, are you okay buddy?" Mew calls out.
Pikachu gets up, "Pika!" (I'm good!)
Norman calls out, "Do Scratch attack one more time!"
Vigoroth charges in
"Dodge it again!" Mew calls out.
Pikachu mananges to dodge the two attacks.
"Now Quick Attack!" Mew calls out.
Pikachu lands and darts in, but Vigoroth manages to sidestep, to both Pikachu and Mew's shock. Vigoroth soon landed another Scratch while, unbeknownst to anyone else, Team Rocket watches from a vent in the wall
"Maybe we don't want Pikachu after all," James says.
"Not if we grab that Vigoroth instead. Its natural nastiness would be a perfect fit for Team Rocket!" Jessie says.
"Yeah, but if we gave it to da boss, dat would be even bettah!" Meowth says.
"And if we gave him both, then that would be even better than that!" Jessie says.
"Yeah!" The boys agree
And Wobbuffet says, "Wobbuffet!" (Let's do it!)
Back inside and on the battlefield.
"Pikachu, Thunderbolt attack, now!" Mew calls out.
Pikachu launches the attack.
Norman calls out, "Vigoroth, dodge!"
Vigoroth does so
Mew grunts, "That was fast!"
Vigoroth kept dodging each attack thrown at it while it got closer to Pikachu.
"Use Quick Attack!" Mew calls out.
Pikachu darts in and finally lands a blow.
Norman calls out, "Vigoroth!"
"Good job, Pikachu!" Mew calls out.
"I didn't think they had a chance against dad's Vigoroth!" Caroline says.
"Yeah, Mew is good, huh?" May says.
"Of course she does. She did become Champion of the Silver conference.
"Alright, Vigoroth, Scratch attack!" Norman calls out.
Vigoroth begins the attack.
Mew calls out, "Pikachu, dodge and use Iron Tail!"
Pikachu then performs the attack to deflect the Scratch attack, and send Vigoroth back. And yet, Vigoroth is still standing.
"Vigoroth!" Norman calls out.
"Wow. That was cool!" Jen says.
"That's amazing," Molly says.
"And they're both still battling," Max says.
"Have to admit Norman, your Vigoroth is really powerful," Mew says.
"Your Pikachu is really tough itself," Norman says.
"Thanks, but we still have a battle to do," Mew says.
"Yeah," Norman says.
Suddenly, a rumbling and a boom was heard interrupting their battle, followed by some dust as some of the people present panic
"What was that?!" May asks.
"An explosion?" Jen asks.
They soon see just who caused the commotion, as well as the motto.
Jessie:
Prepare for trouble from a hole in the wall.
James:
Make it double, you're in for a brawl.
Jessie:
To protect the world from devastation.
James:
To unite all peoples within our nation.
Jessie:
To denounce the evils of truth and love.
James:
To extend our reach to the stars above.
Jessie:
Jessie.
James:
James.
Jessie:
Team Rocket makes a mad dash at the speed of light.
James:
Surrender to these great effects or prepare to fight!
Meowth:
Meowth! Dat's right!
Wobbuffet:
Wobbuffet! (End of scene!)
"Team Rocket!" May shouts.
"Not them again," Jen says.
Suddenly, Caroline says, "Oh, how sweet! It's always nice to meet your friends."
"Hmm?" May replies, confused.
"Thank you so much for being there for my May," Caroline says.
But May clarifies, "No Mother, those are the bad guys!"
"That's right. They're criminals who steal Pokémon from other people!" Tomo says.
"I can't believe they follow us to Hoenn too!" Jen says, annoyed.
"That's okay. We're not your run-of the-mill criminals," Jessie says.
"We do bad things with panache and style!" James says.
"We'll rob ya, but we'll do it wit a smile!" Meowth says.
"You don't look so stylish," Max replies, adjusting his glasses.
"We're here for your Pokémon!" Jessie says and calls out her Pokemon, "Go, Arbok!"
Arbok comes out.
James also calls out, "Go, Weezing!"
Weezing also comes out.
James calls out the first attack, "Use Smoke Screen!"
Weezing does so, blinding everyone
Covering his mouth, Norman says, "Hold you breath, everyone!"
Then Jessie calls out, "Now, Arbok, give them your Headbutt!"
Arbok darts in and nails Pikachu.
"No, Pikachu!" Mew cries out.
Then Norman calls out, "Vigoroth, let's go!"
Vigoroth charges at Weezing, but misses.
Max turns to May, "Come on! You should get in there with your Pokémon, too, May!"
"Huh?" May replies, confused.
"Can't you help 'em out with your Pokemon?!" Max asks.
"Uh, right!" May says and calls out her Pokemon, "Now, Torchic! Let's go!"
Torchic then comes out, "Torchic, Chic!" (Ready for battle!)
"Now what do I do?" May asks.
"Now would be a good time to give it an attack!" Max says.
"Okay! Don't rush me!" May says, and thinks of an attack, "Let's see now. Attack..."
But while May was wondering what to do, Arbok nailed Torchic with Headbutt
May gasps, "My little Torchic!"
"And now we'll be taking Pikachu, Eevee, and Vigoroth with us!"" Jessie says.
"That's what you think!" Mew says, and calls out. "Pikachu, Eevee, Thunderbolt 'em!"
Pikachu launches the attack, but accidentally hits Max, as evident by his screaming.
"Oh no! Max, you didn't get hit, did you?!" Mew asks, shocked.
"Pikachu!" (You okay?!) Pikachu asks.
Eevee also says in concern, "Eeveee vee?!" (Yikes, are you alright?)
"Well, it's one thing, learnin' about Pikachu's Thunderbolt on TV, but a whole 'nother thing to feel it in the flesh! Wow. Got to say, it's impressive," Max says, stunned and impressed before rolling onto his back and coughs.
Suddenly, May notices, "Hey, Team Rocket's gone!"
Everyone looks around and they see no sign of the threesome.
"Where did they go?" Molly asks.
Tomo turns to his Pokemon, "My Vigoroth is still here, safe and sound."
"Yeah, and so is my Pikachu and Eevee," Mew says.
Tomo turns to his Pokemon, "Meloetta and Skwovet are here too."
"Same with Amaura," Jen says.
May, however, was worried.
"What's wrong, May?" Molly asks.
"My Torchic's gone!" May cries out.
"What?!" Everyone exclaims in shock.
Everyone looks up and spots Team Rocket getting away in the Meowth Balloon
"Just like we said. Service with a smile!" Jessie says.
"Have a nice day!" Team Rocket cheers.
May soon sighs sadly and falls to her knees, "Now what do I do? I just got that Torchic!"
Mew reassures, "Don't you worry 'bout a thing, May!"
"Huh?" May replies.
"I'll get your Torchic back! I promise!" Mew says.
Pikachu and Eevee agree.
"We all will," Tomo says.
Jen, Molly, and the other Pokemon also agree.
Meanwhile to Team Rocket…
"One out of three's not bad. Alright, so Vigoroth was an elusive catch. But at least we finally got Pikachu!" Jessie says. She then puts on a pair of rubber gloves, "Now on with the insulated gloves," and pulls Torchic out of the bag, "and hello, Pikach…" and notices that its not Pikachu she's holding, "Huh?"
"Tor!" (Hi!) Torchic replies.
Team Rocket collectively gasp in surprise
"Dat sure ain't Pikachu!" Meowth says.
James leans towards the Pokemon, "It's a Torchic."
Torchic fired an Ember attack right into James' face.
Jessie looks at the Pokemon, "This is all wrong! You're so teensy. Most definitely not Team Rocket material."
"We'd be laughed right out of the boss' office," James says.
But then Meowth says, "But if we can use dis Torchic to go back and bag Pikachu and Eevee, den everything'll be fine!"
"Yeah!" Team Rocket agrees.
Meanwhile, Mew and the others are preparing to search for Team Rocket and Torchic, with help from May's family
"I doubt they got too far by this time," Mew says.
Then Norman says, "Let's split up and look!" Then turns to his wife, "Caroline, you and I go this way."
"You got it," Caroline says.
They soon head off.
"Knowing my dad, I bet they'll find 'em!" Max says.
"Your mom and dad are both really great," Jen says.
"Yeah," May says.
Max soon starts searching with a magnifying glass, "Hmm. They sure didn't leave any tracks behind!"
"Perhaps that's because they flew off in a balloon!" May says..
Max realizes she's right, "Oh, that's right," And gets up, "Then it's time to get the old noggin outta neutral and come up with a flawless theory. And with Mew and her allies as my right-hand men-and-women-on-the-scene, we'll solve this in no time!
"Give me a break!" May says, and lightly hits Max's head
Max whimpers and begins to lie on the floor crying, "May hit me! I'm telling!"
"Max, don't cry," Jen says.
But May says, "He's just fakin' it."
Max soon gets up, "Well, sooner or later, that fake cryin' stuff was bound to get old."
"Oh brother," Mew replies.
Then May says, "Stop messing around Max! What about Torchic?!"
Suddenly, someone says, "Kids!
Huh?" May replies.
Everyone was startled by the sudden arrival of May and Max's parents.
"We've located their hot-air balloon," Norman says.
"We'll get Torchic back," Caroline says.
They soon reach the spot and find Torchic in a cage and sat in front of the balloon basket)
"There!" Norman says.
"Yep, that's it!" Mew says.
They soon spot Torchic worried and whimpering, trapped in the cage.
"My poor little Torchic!" May says, worried.
Both she and Max run out of the bush.
May and Max call out, "Torchic!"
But Mew calls out, "Wait! Not so fast! Be careful!"
But right on cue, May and Max fell into a pit.
"Could be... a trap," Tomo says.
Soon, Norman runs forward, "I'm coming!"
Caroline does too, "Me too!"
And Jen says, "But there might be..."
Right on cue, they also fall into a trap
"Another trap," Molly sheepishly says.
The Pokemon respond in their language, "Oh boy.)
Team Rocket jumped out of the basket.
"Looks like you fell for it!" Jessie says.
"Thanks for dropping in!" James says.
The three laugh in triumph.
"You guys are through!" Mew says and brings out her Pokeball, "Shaymin, I choose you!"
And Shaymin comes out of the Pokeball.
Tomo rushes to the hole May and Max fall in, "Hey!" and looks in, "Are you guys okay?"
"Not for long! Go, Arbok!"
Arbok darts in with a Headbutt.
Mew spots Arbok and calls out, "Shaymin, use Energy Ball!"
Shaymin then fires the attack and hits Arbok.
Tomo and Jen extend their hands.
Jen calls out, "Quick, climb out!"
The two are soon helped up and out of the hole.
"So what's a hole doing here?" May asks.
"Long story," Jen says.
Arbok closes in, but Eevee lands a Tackle of his own
Tomo calls out, "Hey, Norman, are you two okay?"
Norman and Caroline climb out
"Yes," Norman says and confronts Team Rocket, "How dare you steal someone else's Pokémon, much less stealing my little girl's first Pokémon!"
"Looks like a big bad mad dad," Jessie says.
"I ain't scared!" Meowth says.
"Oh, yeah?!" Norman says, and calls out, "Vigoroth, go!"
Vigoroth comes out of the Pokeball and nails Arbok with Scratch.
"So you wanna play rough?!" James angrily says, "Now, Weezing, go!"
Weezing charges in.
"Okay, Vigoroth, use Scratch attack!" Norman calls out.
Vigoroth charges in, while Max sneaks his way towards Team Rocket's balloon to rescue Torchic.
"I'll save you, Torchic," Max says.
Touched, Torchic says, "Torchic! Torchic!" (Why Max, thank you.)
"Ah! Torchic!" May says.
As May talks, Max brings her caged Pokemon to her.
"Here you go!" Max says and puts the cage down, "You're welcome, sis. It was nothing."
"Thanks, Max. You're the best!" May says and begins to open the cage, "Let's get you out of there right now," Soon she opens the cage, "There!" and picks up Torchic, relieved, "Oh, Torchic, are you okay?"
Torchic agrees and starts crying tears of joy
"You can stop crying. I'm here now!" May says.
Meanwhile, Arbok traps Vigoroth in a Wrap.
"Vigoroth, no!" Norman calls out.
Mew says, "Eevee, Vigoroth needs help! Let's go!"
Eevee charges in with a Quick Attack from behind and nails Arbok.
May then angrily says, "How dare you three do that to my sweet little Torchic? Torchic, go!"
"Tor!" (Right!) Torchic says.
May then calls out, "Torchic, Amber!
Max sweat drops and groans in embarrassment after hearing May's mistaken command.
"You mean Ember," Max confirms.
May gasps, realizing her mistake, "Oh, yeah. That's right! Torchic, Ember!"
Torchic blindly fires the attack, but hits Max by mistake.
"It's one thing to see Ember on TV, but another thing to feel it!" Max says and coughs, "I'm impressed again."
"Let's see. What else?" May says, thinking of another attack.
Then Max says, "There's Peck."
"Hey, that's right!" May says and calls out the next attack, "Torchic, use Peck!"
But Torchic, once again blindly, attacks Max by mistake.
In pain, Max screams, "Oh, it picked the wrong person to peck!"
Meanwhile, Pikachu was attacked hard by Arbok's Headbutt.
"Pikachu!" Mew calls out.
"Go, Vigoroth! Let's finish this up, once and for all!" Norman calls out.
Vigoroth charges in and nails both Arbok and Weezing with a Tackle, hard enough to send them flying right into Team Rocket and send them all into the basket of the balloon
Mew then calls out, "Now, Pikachu, Eevee Thunderbolt 'em! Shaymin, use Energy Ball1 Let's go!"
All three perform the attack, destroying the balloon sending Team Rocket flying.
"Why couldn't we have grabbed that Vigoroth instead of a tiny Torchic?" Jessie whines.
"From now on, I'll just be happy with whatever we get!" James says.
"Well I'd be happy if we'd just get a life!" Mewoth says.
Then Team Rocket screams, "Team Rocket's blasting off again!"
May then turns to her Pokemon, "Torchic, I'm so glad to have you back."
Torchic nuzzles its new trainer and friend in agreement
"May, your Torchic has sure grown awfully fond of you," Norman says.
"I'm so happy for the both of you!" Caroline says.
Max happily says, "This is how a Pokémon Trainer bonds with their Pokemon! Is that right, Mew?"
"That's right," Mew says.
Later, outside the gym.
Caroline asks, "I guess it's time for you all to get going. Do you have everything, May?"
"Don't worry, Mom!" May says.
"I know we didn't get to finish our battle, Mew, but I'll be waiting for our rematch," Norman says.
"Can't wait," Mew says.
Just then, Max comes into the scene, "Since you don't know anything about Pokemon! I should go, too!"
Everyone is shocked and surprised.
Norman nods and says to May, "Your brother does know a lot about Pokémon and he just might be a big help to you."
"And a lot less worry for me," Caroline says.
Then Norman asks, "Mew would it be too much of a bother if Max traveled along with you, your friends and May?"
Mew nods, "That's fine! Okay, everyone?
Everyone and even the Pokemon agree.
May smiles, "Thank you, Mew, everyone."
"This is gonna be awesome!" Max says.
Then Norman presents cases to Mew and May, "I have a little something to give the both of you."
"Huh?" May replies, confused.
Norman presents them two cases, "A badge case to hold your winning gym badges."
Both trainers take them.
"Thank you, Norman," Mew says.
Then turns to May, "Let go do our best, May!"
"Yeah, sounds good," May says, feeling a bit awkward.
Then Norman presents a device to Max, "And, son, this is for you."
"Really, for me?" Max asks and takes the device, "Oh, wow!"
"What's that?" Molly asks.
"A Pokémon Navigator!" Max says, and turns it on, "I've been wanting one!"
Everyone is amazed by the new gadget.
"With one of those, you'll always know exactly where you are!" Norman says.
"Wow!" The group replies.
"And I'll take good care of it!" Max says and walks off.
"I suggest that you first travel to the closest gym from here, and that's located in Rustboro City," Norman says.
"Okay!" Mew and May says.
Everyone heads out.
"Bye, Mom. Bye, Dad!" May says.
"Goodbye, everyone! Take care!" Caroline says.
"You do your best!" Norman says.
"You got it!"" Mew says.
"We will! Bye!" May says.
Tomo and the others say their goodbyes as well.
They soon take off after Max.
Max calls out, "Hurry up, you slowpokes!"
"We're coming!" Jen calls out.
"Right behind you!" May says.
And now, having been joined by May's little brother, Max, and reunited with Jen and Amaura, Mew and the others set his sights on Rustboro City.
