Episode 9: A Tail with a Twist
Mew, May, Max, Tomo, Jen, and Molly happily say, "Whoa! That smells great!"
Same as the Pokemon, (And it looks great!)
Still headed toward the first Hoenn region gym in Rustboro City, Mew and friends take a lunch break in the forest. As usual, they're amazed at Brock's ability to whip up delicious food.
After tasting the food, Brock says, "Yep, it's ready. Let's eat, guys!"
May says, and calls out, "Okay, Torchic! Lunchtime!"
"Come on Zigzagoon!" Max happily says.
"Come on, and get it!" Brock says.
"Time to eat!" Mew says.
"Come on out, guys!" Tomo says.
"Yeah!" Jen and Molly happily say.
Soon, many of Mew and her friends' Pokemon come out.
Soon, everyone notices the two Treeckos. Mew and Tomo's Treecko feel uncomfortable.
"It looks like those two might be feeling a little weird around all our other Pokémon," May says.
"Cause they're all staring," Max says.
"Hey, guys, there's no reason to be suspicious. Say hello to Treecko and Willow,"
Mew says
The Pokemon try to communicate with them, Willow begins talking with the others, but Treecko leaps onto the body of a tree and climbs up to a high branch.
Mew calls out, "Treecko, come back! Unless you wanna miss lunch!"
"Pika Pika!" (It's really good!) Pikachu calls out.
Treecko simply plucks a twig from the tree as some of the gang watch.
"You don't think Treecko would rather eat twigs than Brock's famous soup, do you?" May questions.
"I don't think it's about the food," Max says.
Brock says, "Treecko are tree dweller Pokémon. Plus, they're pretty shy, so it's probably just more comfortable up there."
"That's true," Mew says.
Soon, everyone is settled down for lunch.
"Yummy! You should have your own cooking with Brock show!" May says.
"Thanks, May," Brock says.
As everyone eats, Brock notices Torchic running around with an apple and a cluster of grapes.
"Hey May, what's up with Torchic? It seems pretty wound up," Jen asks.
"It always gets excited about food, but I think it's eating too much," May says.
"Pokémon learn behavior from their trainers," Max says.
May's eyes grow wide upon hearing what her brother said before angrily glaring at him.
Molly giggles.
May groans, "Not you too, Molly."
Mew gets up, "Hey, Treecko, you okay?! You're not gonna sit in that tree all day, are you?"
Treecko doesn't say anything.
"I'll take that as a yes," May says.
Mew calls out, "Well, alright," and picks up Treecko's bowl, "Your lunch is right here if you get hungry!"
"Eevee Eevee!" (Don't wait too long!) Eevee calls out.
"Treecko." (Alright.) Treecko calls out.
Treecko soon senses something, and when it looks down, it finds something lurking into the bushes. Soon, the figure lifts itself up to reveal itself to be a serpentine Pokémon. It is mostly covered in black scales, but it has several markings on its body. It has yellow hexagon markings that run from its head to its tail, small yellow bumps where it touches the ground, and various purple scar-like marks. It has elongated red fangs that protrude from its upper jaw and fierce red eyes.
But it quickly finds a target when Torchic goes running past with its fruit before slithering away. The snake uses its tail revealing it to be partially red and has a blade-like shape. It uses the tail to trip up Torchic, causing it to drop the grapes and apple it had. Torchic chases after the apple as it rolls away, but ends up running right into the snake, and looks up to see it.
It soon comes down, frightening Torchic. However, the Pokemon eats Torchic's apple. Torchic makes a fuss about it, but the snake prepares to attack. But before it can land a blow, a twig is thrown down right in front of it, catching the snake's attention before Mew's Treecko leaps down from the tree to defend Torchic. The two stare at each other before they charge. However, the snake moves at the last minute and heads right toward Torchic. Torchic cries out for help, getting everyone's attention.
"What was that?" Tomo asks.
"It sounds like Torchic," Mew says.
May cries out, "My Torchic!"
Everyone then hurries to figure out what's going on.
Meanwhile, the snake Pokemon proceeds to bounce Torchic on its tail, to its enjoyment, until…
"Hey!" Mew shouts.
"Cut that out!" May shouts.
Everyone comes running.
"What's that?" Max asks.
"Leave my Torchic alone, whatever you are!"May says.
"Yeah! Pick on someone your own size!" Jen adds.
"It's a Seviper," Mew says and brings out her Pokedex.
Dexter says, "Seviper, the Fang Snake Pokémon. A Poison Type. Seviper is known for its angry disposition, immobilizing its opponents by wrapping its body around them."
"I think Torchic could use some help!" Brock says.
"That's for sure, cause that thing looks really strong!" Max says.
Mew calls out, "Pikachu, Eevee, Taillow, let's help Torchic!"
"You too, Forretress!" Brock calls out.
All the Pokémon charge in, but Seviper was ready for them, and launched a thick smoke from its mouth.
"This is Seviper's Haze attack," Brock says.
"That's a good name for it. Wow!" Max says.
Treecko looked around before looking up to a hole in the Haze, spotting a tree and quickly proceeds to climb up it where it spots the Seviper with Torchic still in its coils before leaping down and smacking the Seviper, causing it to let go of Torchic so Treecko could rescue it.
"Torchic!" May says in relief.
Both trainer and Pokémon embrace.
"I'm so glad you're okay!" May says.
"Thanks, Treecko. Good job," Mew says.
However, Seviper goes on the attack.
"It's coming back!" Brock cries out.
"Treecko!" Mew cries out.
Treecko turns to see Seviper making its tail glow. But before Seviper can strike Treecko, Mew grabs Treecko and Seviper strikes her, causing her to slam herself against the tree.
"Mew!" Molly cries out.
"Oh no!" May cries out.
"Tree!" (Mew!) Treecko cries out.
"Poison Tail!" Max calls out.
Seviper then begins to dart towards Mew and Treecko as it opens its mouth.
Treecko then decides to fight back and launches leaves at Seviper, pushing it back.
"What's that?" May asks.
"That's Leafage!" Brock says.
Taillow darts in and strikes Seviper right across the face.
"Forretress, try to immobilize Seviper with Spikes!" Brock calls out.
Forretress spins around and fires the Spikes, easily nailing Seviper.
Pikachu and Eevee launch their attack and force Seviper to flee. Everyone sighs in relief.
"Well I hope we've seen the last of that thing," May says.
"That was scary," Jen says.
Treecko rushes to Mew in concern, "Tree Treecko?" (Mew, are you okay?)"
Clenching her shoulder, Mew answers, "I… I'm okay," but feels her shoulder in pain.
She tries to stand, but her right shoulder hurts.
"Maybe you should stay down," Brock says.
"Man, taking that direct hit from Seviper's Poison Tail attack right into a tree?! No wonder she's in bad shape!"
"And it was all to rescue Treecko. Just like Treecko rescued you, Torchic," May says.
"We gotta help her," Tomo adds.
"I'm pretty sure that I saw a Pokemon Center just up ahead," Brock says.
Then picks up Mew, "We better hurry."
Everyone rushes to the Pokemon Center to get Mew some help. Unknown to them, Team Rocket spies on them.
"I just spotted something that's going to make our day!" Jessie says.
"A taco stand wit a jacuzzi out back?"" Meowth replies.
"I think she's talking about that Seviper and its amazing fighting abilities. So we'll catch that first and then hit the jacuzzi," James says.
"Woooobbuffet!" (Brilliant!) Wobbuffet says.
Jessie says, annoyed, "There is no jacuzzi!"
And Meowth says, "I get it! Da way dat Seviper shut down da twoip's Treecko wit its sneaky, snakey ways an' dose sharp fangs an' dat powerful tail makes it a natural Team Rocket Pokémon!"
"Then adding my superior intelligence and devastating good looks to that Seviper's power, nothing could possibly stand in our way!" Jessie says.
"Which means all we need now is a plan to catch that Seviper!" James adds.
"DEN we hit da jacuzzi!" Meowth says.
"Woooobbuffet." (There isn't one.) Wobbuffet says.
Meanwhile, the gang sprint towards the Pokemon Center.
"There's the Pokémon Center! We're almost there!" Brock says.
May calls out, "Nurse Joy! We need some help!"
And soon, the gang enters the Pokemon Center.
Meanwhile, the Seviper from earlier stalks some Zigzagoon and Beautifly, but the Pokémon run off as soon as Seviper shows up and hisses before eating all the apples the Pokémon left behind. All the while, Team Rocket stalks it.
"An apple a day keeps da doctor away, "Meowth says.
James says, "With those manners, the doctor and everyone else."
"Oh, I can't wait to have such a powerful Pokémon under my complete command," Jessie says.
"Well, we know it has a fondness towards all tings fruity. And it's headin' right for my trap, so it won't be long now," Meowth says.
Speaking of which, Seviper soon spots the bait and starts slithering straight towards the trap.
"It spotted the fruit!" Jessie says.
"Keep moving forward," James says.
"Now go on and fall in da hole," Meowth whispers.
Seviper soon stops, feeling something's off
"What's it doing?" Jerssie asks.
"Maybe it don't like da basket?" Meowth wonders.
And James says, "I told you the pineapple was a bad idea."
Seviper, feeling it was a trap, picks up the basket with its tail and slithers back the way it came, prompting Team Rocket to come out and stand on the trap.
"That fruit basket wasn't meant as a gift!" Jessie shouts.
"It was expensive! Fruit doesn't grow on all trees, you know!" James says.
"What's de idea of gettin' away and makin' me look bad when you're supposed to be standing here on dis trap door?!" Meowth shouts.
They all soon realize what Meowth said.
"What trap door, exactly?" Jessie asks.
"The one we're standing on right now?" James says.
"Yep. Good ting it didn't woik so well," Meowth says.
But Meowth ends up speaking too soon as they all end up falling down the hole.
Later, they try to catch Seviper again.
"Now, are you two sure you understand the new plan? I don't want any more mistakes," Jessie says.
"You'll say something clever to get Seviper's attention…" James says.
"And den we both jump out and bag it wit da Poké-nett!" Meowth says.
"Good. Here it comes now," Jessie says.
"Right," James and Meowth say.
All three duck and hide as Seviper slithers in.
Once Seviper is near, Jessie shouts, "Hey, Seviper! It's lunchtime!"
Seviper turns, just in time for James and Meowth to pounce with the net and catch it.
"You're a part of Team Rocket now, Seviper, so just stop struggling and accept this as your lucky day," Jessie says.
Seviper tries to pull back on the net to get loose.
"I tink it's mad!" Meowth says.
"Pull!" James calls out.
Meowth and James do so.
"It's too strong!" James says.
"Oh, come on, cream puffs! Put some muscle into it!" Jessie says.
Jessie soon starts pulling as well, but the Seviper bites its way out, sending Team Rocket flying into a tree before escaping.
"My spleen! I give up!" Meowth says, in pain.
"How about we catch something easier like a taxi?" James says.
Jessie however says, "Catch this one, you cupcake. Now that I've seen how tough that Seviper is, I want to grab it even more."
Meanwhile, back at the Pokemon Center, Nurse Joy checks on Mew's injury. Nurse Joy has the bandage wrapped around the shoulder and has a bad sprain. Pikachu, Eevee, and Treecko comfort Mew.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket is sitting down, eating lunch while formulating another Seviper capture plan.
With his mouth full, James says, "Seviper always seems to be one step ahead of us."
"Which means we have to work that much harder and come up with a new plot," Jessie says with her mouth full.
Meowth says at his mount full, "I plot much better on a full tummy!"
Soon, all three put their hands on the last rice ball, "Huh?"
They eye each other angrily and greedily, and they all shouts, "RICE BALL FREE-FOR-ALL!"
Jessie snatches it away, "What do you know? It's over and I'm the winner."
But James yanks it away, "That's so rude! You don't see Meowth or I grabbing, do you?!"
The three soon start to fight over the rice ball before it goes into the river.
James cries out, "THAT WAS THE LAST ONE!"
"GONE TO A WATERY GRAVE!" Meowth cries out.
Soon, James and Meowth sulk.
"What do you think? Shall we say a few words in its memory?" James asks.
"Here lies a rice ball I didn't get to eat," Meowth says, sulking.
"Oh, quit your sniveling. It was just a rice ball," Jessie says and pulls out another one, "Like any other."
"Where'd that come from?" James asks.
"And where's ours?" Meowth asks.
"Well, this is actually for Happiny," Jessie says and calls Happiny out.
Jessie presents it to Happiny, "Here you go my little Happy Happiny."
"Happ! Happiny!" (Yay! Rice ball!) Happiny happily says.
But before Jessie can give Happiny the rice ball, Seviper grabs and snatches it away with its tail.
This makes Jessie mad, "How dare you steal from my little Happiny?! You overgrown Weedle, don't you know who YOU'RE DEALING WITH?!"
Seviper just blows raspberry
"What?! You gave me the raspberry?!" Jessie angrily demands.
James whispers to Jessie, "Jessie, now's our chance."
"Huh?" Jessie says.
"Catch Seviper, while it's close," Meowth whispers.
"Right. I knew that," Jessie says and calls out, "Go, Wobbuffet!"
Wobbuffet then comes out.
"Teach that thieving Seviper a lesson!" Jessie angrily demands.
"WOBBU!" (BRING IT!) Wobbuffet says.
Both Pokemon stare each other down.
James says to Jessie, "Uh, I'm sure you already know this, but Wobbuffet can't do anything until it's attacked by something else."
Upset, Jessie gets her Pokeball, "Of course, you're never useful when necessary!"
As Jessie talks, Wobbuffet is recalled.
"Let's see if you're of any use!" Jessie says, and grabs Meowth.
Meowth cries out, "Why me?!"
"Double Edge attack!" Jessie calls out, and throws Meowth.
"Wait! I don't know dat attack!" Meowth panics.
Seviper smacks Meowth away with its tail and sends him right into Jessie and James, causing Jessie to drop her rice ball.
"The rice ball!" Jessie cries out and runs after it.
"The what?!" James asks.
"She had one hidden!" Meowth says.
"You won't get away!"
Jessie leaps after it, but finds both it and her heading right for the open mouth of Seviper. Jessie turns her head around as she screams, allowing Seviper to bite some of her hair off, to Team Rocket's shock.
Jessie cries out in tears, "NOT MY HAIR! MY FLOWING HAIR IS MY TRADEMARK!"
Seeing her mommy upset, Happiny shouts, "Happ Happiny! Happ Happiny Happ Happiny!" "Now I'm really mad! You've made a very big mistake by hurting my mommy, Seviper!"
Seviper panics upon seeing Happiny's angry look while James and Meowth do the same. Jessie is shocked.
"That is one mad little Pokemon!" Meowth says.
"Poor Seviper!" James says.
"Oh my…" Jessie says, shocked.
And with that, Happiny begins to viciously attack Seviper. Happiny starts with a pound attack.
"That's Happiny's Pound attack!" Meowth says.
"A really hard pound," James says.
Happiny then charges a Take Down Attack, and hard.
"Wow. Happiny really took down Seviper with that Take Down Attack," Jessie says, surprised.
Happiny then grabs Seviper by the tail, swings it around in a circle, and throws Seviper, causing it to hit a tree. Soon, Seviper is knocked out.
Happiny walks to Jessie and asks, "Happ Happiny?" (Are you okay?)
"Happiny is asking if you're okay?" Meowth asks.
"I'm okay," Jessie says and picks up Happiny, "But you really took down Seviper like with that Fearow."
"Hey Jessie, now it's your chance to catch it," James says.
"Yeah. While it's knocked out," Meowth says.
"Oh right. Catch it," Jessie says.
She then throws her Pokeball, "Go, Pokéball! Ha!"
The Pokéball hits, wobbles and finally pings.
"Ha!" Jessie happily says and, picks up the Pokéball, "I caught a, Seviper!"
"Seviper!" James and Meowth cheer.
"Woooobbuffet!" (Seviper!) Wobbuffet cheers.
Back at the Pokemon Center.
Nurse Joy finishes with Mew's wound, "There you go, you'll be just fine. You just need a bit more rest.
"Thank you, Nurse Joy," Mew says.
May then asks Nurse Joy, "I was wondering, could the Nurse Joy that we met in Oldale Town be your little sister?"
"Everyone always asks me that, but no," Nurse Joy answers.
Then Brock points out, "May, this Nurse Joy is the younger sister of the second cousin of the Nurse Joy in Oldale Town'd first cousin. Isn't that right?"
"Yes," Nurse Joy confirms.
"The younger sister of the second cousin of the what? I'm confused," Max says, confused.
"I hear you, Max," May sheepishly agrees.
Tomo looks around and wonders, "Hey Mew, where's Teecko?"
"I don't know," Mew says.
Mew walks outside and calls out, "Teecko! Treecko, where are you?!"
Everyone rushes out and calls out for Treecko.
"Where could Treecko have disappeared to," Mew says.
Eevee sniffs the ground and says, "Eevee Eevee." (I think he went for the hills.)
"You sure, Eevee?" Mew asks.
Eevee nods.
"Eevee said that Treecko might have headed to the hills," Mew says.
"Then let's go," Brock says.
Everyone then rushes over to find him.
Meanwhile, Treecko is seen looking down near a waterfall before spitting out the twig in its mouth and diving off the waterfall as everyone else keeps looking.
Mew calls out, "Come on, Treecko! Please let me know where you are!"
"Treecko!" Max calls out.
"Treecko!" Mew calls out.
"Wonder where it went," May says.
Suddenly, Jen calls out, "Hey! I just heard something!"
Everyone looks and sees Treecko training.
"It's Treecko," Mew says.
"What in the world is it doing?" May asks.
"Looks like it's doing some sort of training?" Max says.
"Hmm. That's exactly right, Max. It's working out," Brock says.
"Working out?" Molly questions.
Brock then turns to Mew, "I bet Treecko's still upset with itself by almost losing to Seviper, and about you getting injured in the process."
"So now it's pushing itself to train," Mew says.
"Guess your Treecko really doesn't like to lose, huh, Mew?" Max says.
"I think that's really cool," May says.
Treecko keeps on striking the rock, trying to make its tail attack stronger and stronger. Treecko dives off the top of the waterfall once more before it starts spinning around like a top before coming out of it and smacking the rock below with its tail, causing the rock to crack and then crumble
"Alright!" Mew and Tomo cheer.
"It broke!" Max says.
"Awesome," May, Molly, and Jen happily cheer.
"I see what Treecko's been trying to do. It managed to triple its striking power by spinning before hitting its target!" Brock saus.
Mew walks out and says, "Good job, Treecko!"
Pikachu and Eevee agree,
Suddenly, a mechanical hand bursts out of the bushes and grabs Pikachu and Eevee.
"Pika!" (Let go!) Pikachu cries out.
"Eevee!" (Help!) Eevee cries out.
"What's that?!" Mew asks.
And it turns out, the one who grabbed both Pokemon are Team Rocket and they begin their motto.
Jessie:
Prepare for trouble with Eevee and Pikachu!
James:
And make it double times two!
Jessie:
To protect the world from devastation.
James:
To unite all peoples within our nation.
Jessie:
To denounce the evils of truth and love.
James:
To extend our reach to the stars above.
Jessie:
Jessie!
James:
James!
Jessie:
We blast off so beautifully at the speed of light.
James:
So love us and surrender or prepare to fight!
Meowth:
Ha! Dat's right!
And it's revealed Meowth is holding the case with Pikachu and Eevee trapped inside.
Pikachu cries out, "Pika Pi!" (Mew!)
"Eevee!" (Help us!) Eevee cries out.
"Team Rocket!" Mew says in shock.
"Not you again!" Brock says,.
Pikachu tries to shock his way out, but to no avail. Eevee tries as well, but can't break free.
"Yep! And again, we sucked up all of Pikachu's electricity!" Meowth says.
"And neither can Eevee," James adds.
"And also again, Pikachu and Eevee belong to us, so get used to it," Jessie says.
"Oh, no you don't! " Mew says and calls out, "Go, Taillow!"
Taillow comes out.
James then calls out, "Go, Cacnea!
Cacnea comes out, but tries to hug James instead which makes Tomo, Jen, and Molly stifle their laughter.
James cries out, "Cacnea, Pin Missile attack!"
Cacnea lets go and fires the attack.
Mew calls out, "Taillow, dodge it!"
Taillow dodges the attack.
Just then, Jessie says, "And now we'd like to introduce the new face of Team Rocket!"
"So after much anticipation…" James says.
"Get ready, folks, for da rookie of da year!" Meowth says.
This leaves some of the others baffled.
"What are they jabbering about?" Max asks.
"A baseball game?" May says.
"I have no clue," Jen adds.
Just then, Jessie calls out her new Pokemon, "It's time, Seviper!"
And when Seviper comes out of the Pokeball, everyone is shocked.
"No way!" Mew exclaims in shock.
"That same Seviper!" Brock says, stunned.
"Team Rocket caught it?!" Max adds, just as shocked.
Jessie calls out, "Now, crush 'em, Seviper and there'll be more in it for you than rice balls!"
Treecko steps forward.
"Treecko, hold on," Mew says and kneels to Treecko, "Before you start battling, don't forget, you're not alone."
"Treecko?" (You sure?) Treecko asks.
Mew nods, "We're your friends, Treecko, and we're on your side. Okay? We'll battle with you."
Treecko smiles and turns back to Seviper. And with that, both Treecko and Seviper prepared for battle.
Jessie calls out, "Seviper, Poison Tail!"
Seviper's tail started to glow purple.
Mew then calls out, "Treecko, use your Quick Attack!"
Treecko darted in and past Seviper, and used that speed to maneuver around it.
"Hold still, you little pipsqueak, and let Seviper thrash you!" Jessie shouts.
Mew then calls out, "Treecko, Pound attack, now!"
Treecko leaps in and smacks Seviper across the face.
Then Jessie shouts, " Finish this before it can attack again! Send that little green pest airborne with the power of your Poison Tail!"
Seviper readies its tail, and closes in towards Treecko.
Mew calls out, "Watch out, Treecko! Show em the move you worked so hard on!"
Seviper's tail comes down, but Treecko evades at the last minute by leaping into the air before coming back down with a spin and smacking Seviper with its tail before it goes flying into Team Rocket, forcing them to drop Pikachu and Eevee, and causing his capsule to open.
"Don't look now, but Pikachu and Eevee just hatched!" Meowth panics.
"Pikachu! Eevee!" Mew says in relief.
Piakchu and Eevee jump into Mew's arms and embrace each other.
Soon, Treecko walks away.
"Treecko?" Mew questions.
Treecko picks up its twig and says, "Treecko, Tree." (Now that I got my revenge, Pikachu and Eevee can take care of the rest.) and puts the twig in its mouth.
Meowth translates, "It said now dat it got its revenge, Pikachu and Eevee can take care of da rest. What are we? Chopped liver?"
"You're right! That's insulting!" James says, offended.
Jessie shouts at Seviper, "Where's that big, bad Seviper attitude you had before?!"
"Maybe this'll help you guys look for it!" Mew says before calling out, "Pikachu, Eevee, Thunder Attack!"
Pikachu and Eevee leap and bring down the Thunder, sending Team Rocket flying with an explosion
"Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!" Team Rocket cries out.
And soon, they're gone.
Max, Jen, and Molly cheer, "Yay!"
"Yeah!" May happily says.
Tomo also says, "Alright!"
Mew turns to Treecko and happily says, "Thanks, Treecko. Without you two, we would've never been able to beat em."
"Pika Pika!" (Thanks a bundle!) Pikachu says.
Eevee also says, "Eevee Eevee!" (We really owe you!)
Treecko simply turns and extends its tail, as if it were offering a hand shake.
"I see!" Mew says.
Soon, Mew, Eevee, and Pikachu shake Treecko's tail.
"Hey! That's how Treecko shake hands!" Max says.
"This one sure is full of surprises," May says.
"Yeah. I'm happy they're on our side," Brock says, and laughs.
Everyone else joined in laughing with smiles on their faces.
And so, having gained the trust and the awesome power of his newest Pokémon, Treecko, Mew continues on his journey, looking forward to many more adventures and a lot more Pokémon.
