Episode 15: All in a Day's Wurmple

Mew and her friends are walking through the woods to get to Rustboro City.

"So Rustboro City is right on the other side of the woods right?"

"That's right, and then it will be my Gym Battle," Mew says.

Then turns to Pikachu and Eevee, "You guys are ready?"

Pikachu and Eevee reply in their language, (We're ready.)

Suddenly, as everyone walks on, something drops down upside-down in front of May's face

"Hmm?" May questions.

What May saw was a worm-like Pokémon hanging upside-down in front of her, prompting her to scream before the creature dropped to the floor as the others looked back to see a startled May.

"Uh, May, did you just say something?" Max asks.

"Yes. Something just dropped down right in my face," May says.

Then points to the source, "There it is over there."

Everyone looks and sees the worm-like Pokémon crawling towards the bushes.

Mew recognizes it, "Hey it's a Wurmple."

She brings out her Pokedex and Dextette says, "Wurmple, the Worm Pokémon. A Bug Type. Wurmple live primarily off of sap from trees. The suction cups on its feet keep it from slipping.

"You know, I'm pretty sure that Wurmple evolve into Beautifly, right, Brock?" Max asks.

"Yeah, that's right," Brock says.

"That thing's gonna become a Beautifly?" May asks.

"That's right," Mew, "But Wurmple also has a branch evolution. Depending on how you raise Wurmple it might become a Beauitfly or a Dustox."

"I guess once you get used to it, it is kind of cute. I know. I'll catch it!" May says and runs after it, "Hey! Wait for me, Wurmple!"

"Uh-oh," Max replies.

Mew calls out, "May! Wait!"

"You'll get lost," Jen calls out.

Everyone runs after May.

Somewhere in the woods, May calls out, "Wurmple?" and looks around for it.

Everyone else soon catches up to her

"Wait up, May," Mew calls out.

"Yeah, what's the big rush?" May asks, "I just didn't want that Wurmple to get away."

"I'm a little surprised that you have this thing for a Bug Pokémon like Wurmple, May," Brock says.

"I know, but just think, if Wurmple's raised well, it'll evolve into a Beautifly," May says, and remembers Janet's Beautifly, "Remember how gorgeous Janet's Beautifly was?" She then happily says, "Someday I hope to enter a Pokémon Contest with a gorgeous Beautifly of my very own."

"So, I guess you're saying you really liked that Contest, huh, May?" Tomo asks.

"Definitely," May says, "And for the next Contest, I'm gonna enter it and win a first place ribbon."

"Yeah. That's great," Brock says

He then says, "Hey, guys, I know it's a little early for lunch, but why don't we take a break anyway?"

"Okay!" Max says.

But May says, "Not me. I'm gonna go catch that Wurmple. Bye!" and runs off.

"Hey, May! Wait a minute!" Mew calls out.

But May doesn't stop

"Do you guys think May's gonna be okay alone?" Mew asks, worried.

But Max reassures, "Don't worry, as soon as she gets a little hungry, she'll come right back.

And Brock says, "Besides, catching a Pokemon all by herself will be a really good experience for her."

"That's true. It will be good for her to finally catch a Pokemon of her own," Mew says.

Little do the group know that Team Rocket was watching them.

"It seems this forest is filled with wild Wurmple," James says.

Jessie happily I catch one, and it evolves into a Beautifly, I'll be winning those ribbons left and right! I'll be Queen of the Contests!"

"And dat's not all! If we catch a bunch of em and give just one dose prize-winning Beautifly to da boss, he'll forget all da dumb stuff we ever done!" Meowth says.

"Great! Time to catch us some Wurmple!" Jessie happily says.

The boys agree, "Right!"

"Woooobbuffet! ("Let's do it!") Wobbuffet says.

Meanwhile, May enters a clearing, still hunting for Wurmple.

May calls out, "Wurmple, where are you?!"Come on out!" and looks around, "Huh?" and soon becomes awestruck, "Oh, wow!"

What May saw was a group of six Bellossom dancing together. Meanwhile, Team Rocket continues looking for a Wurmple.

Jessie calls out, "Oh, Wurmple! Wurmple!" and looking around, "Don't be shy. Come on out now."

"Hmm…" James then tries to push a tree.

Noticing it, Meowth asks, "Building up dose biceps, big boy?"

"No, just doing a little pressure pinpointing to check for any hidden Pokémon," James says.

Then Jessie comes forward, "Could I make a simple suggestion? If you're gonna do something, do it big,..." and soon become determined, "With a bit more of a kick, like this! Yah!

Jessie leaps and kicks the tree as hard as she can, but all that fell out was a Weedle.

"Well, that did have a certain finesse," James says.

"Finessed a Weedle right outta dat tree," Meowth says.

"So I was right. This tree is a Pokémon treasure trove," Jessie says and kicks the tree again.

And falling out of the tree next is a Kakuna.

"Next up, we have a Kakuna," Meowth says.

Jessie continues on, "So I'll just, keep, kicking this tree, till I find..."

James turns to Meowth and asks, "Help me out. Weedle evolves into Kakuna, isn't that right, Meowth?"

"Yeah, dat's right," Meowth says.

"Then it follows Kakuna evolve into…" James says.

Both of them soon realize what Kakuna evolves into before they all see an angry swarm of Beedrill come over them.

Terrified, Team Rocket cries out, "BEEDRILL!"

Meanwhile, May was busy watching the dancing Bellossom.

"Bellossom sure can dance. I could sit here and watch them for hours," May happily says.

Suddenly, she hears voices, "HELP!"

"Huh?" May questions and notices a scared Team Rocket being pursued by the angry Beedrill swarm behind them.

"Isn't that Team Rocket?" May questions.

Jessie cries out, "Get your twerpy self out of the way!"

"Run for your life!" James cries out.

"Dis ain't no joke!" Meowth panics.

Confused, May wonders, "What... What's the problem?"

They run past her.

"Uh..." May questions.

But then notices what they were running from and screams before running herself as the Beedrill swarm pursued.

May screams, "But I didn't do anything!"

But then, she and Team Rocket fell down a ledge screaming while the Beedrill passed overhead.

"We told you we weren't kidding," Team Rocket responds.

May cries out, "How did I get tangled up in this?!"

And with that, they begin their mott

Jessie:

Prepare for trouble now that we are united.

James:

Make it double, 'cause you weren't invited.

Suddenly, May calls out, "Hey! Look, there's Wurmple!"

Wurmple is seen crawling along

And runs off after the Wurmple, "Wait! Here I come."

This makes Jessie mad, "How dare you run off when we weren't completely finished!"

James feels the same, "I'll have you know we pour our hearts and souls into that motto every time we..."

Meowth cries out, "Save it, James! Let's just go grab dat Woimple before she does!" and run ahead.

"Good idea!" Jessie and James agree.

They quickly ran after May as she continues after the Wurmple

"Okay, Wurmple! Now I'm ready, and I'm gonna catch you!" May says and takes out a Pokéball, "Torchic, now, I choose you!"

And Torchic comes out.

But Jessie arrives, "Afraid not!" and calls out her Pokemon, "Go, Seviper!"

Seviper comes out causing Torchic to recoil in fear.

Then May says, "Just hold it right there! This is my Wurmple! I saw it before you did!

"Hmm. Okay, what's your point?" Jessie questions.

"What do you mean my point?! Uh, hello?! I have the right to catch it!" May says.

Jessie argues, "You've got the nerve to talk about rights? Let's talk about my rights, young lady, 'cause I believe it's my right to catch that Wurmple and not yours!"

"We'll see about that!" May says.

Then Jessie calls out, "Go, Seviper! Poison Tail on Wurmple!"

Seviper charges in for an attack.

"Poison Tail? Oh, please!" May says. Then calls out, "Torchic, go pin Seviper in place right now!"

Torchic manages to stop Seviper from moving any further.

"Get your little peep out of our way!" Meowth cries out.

Jessie groans, "I've had enough of this. Now, James, do something!"

"Right! Cacnea, let's go!" James says and calls out his Pokemon.

Cacnea comes out.

Jessie calls out, "Seviper, now use your Poison Tail!"

"Pin Missile, Cacnea!" James calls out.

"Both Pokemon charge in.

"Torchic, no!" May cries out.

Suddenly, a Heracross flies in from out of nowhere and nails both Seviper and Cacnea, surprising both May and Team Rocket.

"Who invited you to the party?" Jessie questions.

Soon, a young boy approaches. He has brown hair, wears a yellow shirt with a blue collar, and green patches on the sleeves and wears a black backpack.

The boy says, "I don't know who you guys are, but two against one is not fighting fair."

"It's obvious you don't know who we are cause unfairness is our trademark!" Jessie angrily says.

She then calls out, "Seviper, take him out!"

James calls out, "Cacnea, get in there, too, and help Seviper!"

Both Pokemon charge

Then the boy calls out, "Go, Heracross, Fury Attack!"

Heracross flies forward and nails them both hard enough to send Team Rocket flying.

Team Rocket screams, "Now that was unfair!" and are soon gone.

May turns to the boy, "Thanks, that was a big help. I really appreciate it."

"Yeah, no sweat," The boy says.

Then May realizes, "Hey! Where's Wurmple?! Don't tell me Wurmple's disappeared! Oh, that's just great!"

"I take it that you're trying to catch a Wurmple?" The boy asks.

"Yes, I am," May says.

And the boy says, "You know, I could give you a hand with that."

"Wow! Would you really help me out?" May asks with a smile.

"Sure," May says and extends his hand, "I'm Franklin."

May does the same and says, "My name's May. How are you?"

Back with the others, Brock sets a pot over a campfire

"That's everything," Brock says.

"And now we wait till it's done cooking, right?" Max asks.

"You got it," Brock says.

Nearby, Mew and the others are doing some training.

"Okay guys. Today we'll be doing some training,and we can start with attacks," Mew says.

Pikachu and Eevee agree.

Mew calls out, "Alright Pikachu, Eevee, give each other your Iron Tail."

Pikachu and Eevee charge and perform Iron Tail at each other, like swords clashing against each other.

"You're doing great, guys. Keep it up!" Mew says.

Suddenly, someone says, "Cool! Practicing your Iron Tail attack?"

"Hm?" Mew questions,

That causes Pikachu and Eevee to sto;.

Who they see is a boy who looks like Franklin.

The boy says, "Hey, that Pikachu and Eevee of yours sure looks pretty strong, so how do you feel about battling with me?

"Well, we could use the practice before our next gym battle. Okay, sounds good," Mew says and introduces herself, "Hi, my name's Ashley.

The two shake hands.

"How you doing? The name's Franklin," The boy says.

Meanwhile, the other Franklin and May are climbing up a cliff

"So did you say that you live around here?" May asks.

Franklin #1 says, "Yep, been living here since I was born! I'm now one of the rangers."

"That's so cool! No wonder you know this area so well," May says.

"I guess so," Franklin #1 says.

Suddenly, before they continue to ascend, the ledge gives out under May's feet, but Franklin saves her

Franklin #1 says, "Careful! The ground around here can be pretty crumbly."

"Thank you. I won't have anymore problems. I hope," May says and starts to attempt to climb up.

"Okay. You're pretty independent, aren't you, May?" Franklin #1 replies.

"What do you mean?" May asks.

Well, you know, you're, like, self-sufficient. And that's a good thing," Franklin #1 says.

May blushes, "I guess you could say so."

Back with the other heroes, Mew learns his battle with Franklin will be a Double Battle.

"What do you mean a Double Battle?" Tomo asks.

Franklin #2 explains, "It's where we both have two Pokémon on the field at the same time."

"Right. Then you'll be battling with a total of four Pokémon. Two Pokémon for you and two for your opponent," Brock says.

"Okay. That sounds like it'd be an awesome way to have a battle," Mew says.

Then Franklin #2 says, "Here in the Hoenn region, Double Battles have been accepted into the standard rules for as long as I've been battling. It's fun."

Max then says, "You know, Ashley, you might have to do a Double Battle when you get to the first gym, you might as well start getting used to it, right?"

"Yeah, you're right," Mew says. Then turns to Franklin, "So I accept!"

The Pokemon agree as well.

Soon, Mew is having a double battle against Franklin.

From says, "This double battle is about to begin with each trainer using two Pokémon with no substitutions, and the battle will proceed forward until both of either trainer's Pokémon are unable to continue."

Mew and Franklin #2 say, "Let's do it!"

Franklin #2 calls out, "Ariados and Yanma, I choose you!"

Ariados comes out first, followed by Yanma.

Mew says, "My turn now!" and then calls out, "Treecko, let's go!"

Treecko comes out and lands on the ground next to Pikachu before putting a twig in its mouth.

Brock announces, "Begin!

Franklin #2 calls out, "Alright, Ariados and Yanma, go!"

Mew calls out, "Pikachu, go! And Treecko, go!"

Both Pokémon rush in

Franklin #2 calls out, "Now, Ariados, use String Shot!"

Ariados fires a blast of silk.

"Pikachu, Treecko, dodge it!" Mew calls out.

Both Pokemon do so

Franklin #2 calls out, "Go, Yanma, Sonic Boom!"

Yanma launches the attack.

"Dodge it!" Mew calls out.

Both Pokemon do so, only for Pikachu to get snagged by one of Ariados' strings, allowing Yanma to fire another Sonic Boom.

"Now, Treecko, help Pikachu out!" Mew calls out.

Treecko darts in and pulls Pikachu out of the line of fire just in time.

"Check it out! He combined an attack on the ground and an attack from the sky into one attack!" Max says.

Franklin #2 calls out, "Ariados, use Night Shade! Yanma, Swift Attack, go!"

Both attacks fire, but Pikachu and Treecko dodge

Mew calls out, "Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!"

The attack launches and nails Yanma, but gets hit by Ariados' Night Shade in the face, though Treecko saves him from being sent flying.

"Hang in there! Stay alert and make sure they don't distract you! Go!" Mew calls out.

Franklin #2 calls out, "Ariados, Yanma, attack together!"

Both Ariados and Yanma fire, but Pikachu and Treecko dodge once more.

"Okay you guys, now it's all or nothing! Treecko, use Quick Attack!" Mew calls out.

Treecko rushes forward, darting around like a ninja

Franklin #2 calls out, "Ariados, Yanma, direct your attacks only on to Treecko!"

Ariados fires a Night Shade while Yanma unleashes a Sonic Boom.

"Treecko, jump and dodge em!" Mew calls out.

Treecko does so.

Mew calls out, "Pikachu, let's use Iron Tail, now!"

Pikachu's attack then lands right on target smacking Yanma in the head, shocking Franklin as Yanma falls right behind Ariados.

Franklin #2 calls out, "Ariados, use String Shot, now!"

Ariados fires another blast of silk, nailing Pikachu

But Mew calls out, "Come on, Treecko, use Pound!"

Treecko darts in as Pikachu falls and smacks Ariados so hard it lands on top of Yanma as they're both knocked out.

Brock announces, "Airados and Yanma are unable to battle and the victory goes to Ashley!"

Franklin #2 walks up to his Pokemon, "Yanma, Ariados, are you both alright?"

Both Pokemon look up and confirm

"You did a great job, I'm proud of you," Franklin #2 says.

Mew says to Pikachu and Teecko, "You two were really awesome."

Franklin #2 walks over, "Excuse me, Ashley. That consecutive attack you used with Pikachu and Treecko was beautiful and showed me that I really have a lot more work to do.

"Thanks. Ariados and Yanma were great, too. I really learned a lot from them," Mew says.

Brock says to Franklin #2, "You must be starving after that battle, so why don't you join us for some of my Brock Stew?"

"Hey, that sounds really great. Thank you," Franklin #2 says.

Meanwhile, Franklin #1 is looking around an open field.

Franklin #1 looks around, "Hmm. I usually see tons of Wurmple around here all the time."

Soon, May calls out, "Look what I've got!"

Franklin #1 looks to this left.

May walks over with two berries, "Pecha berries," and hands one to Franklin #1

Franklin #1 says, "Hey, thanks a lot," and takes it.

"There's a whole bunch of them over there," May says and sits down, "Have some," and takes a bite of her berry.

Franklin #1 sits down next to him, "You really know how to take care of yourself, don't you? I'll bet all that traveling makes you stronger, right?"

"Well, I haven't really thought about it, but, I guess you're probably right," May says, "Since I've been traveling around with Ashley and all the others, I know that I've really gained a lot of experience with certain stuff."

Then Franklin #1 says, "So, maybe I could join you on your journey, May? You see, it's always been a dream of mine to travel."

"Really?" May asks.

Franklin #1 says, "Yeah. I always wanted to, but for some dumb reason, I guess I was afraid," and suddenly hears something, "Hey, May, look over there!"

What they spotted was a Wurmple.

May gets up in excitement, "Alright! Finally! A Wurmple!"

The Wurmple starts munching on leaves on a bush.

May calls out, "Come on, Torchic, help me out!"

Torchic then comes out.

May calls out, "Now, Torchic, we've gotta catch that Wurmple!"

Torchic nails Wurmple with a Peck attack.

"Pokéball, go!" May calls out and throws her Pokeball.

The Pokeball hits the Wurmple and it lands on the ground, wiggling

"I've got it! Excellent!" May cheers.

The lock mechanism starts blinking and the Pokéball wobbles before the Wurmple escapes

"No way! Not after Torchic and I battled it," May says, disappointed.

Franklin #1 says to May, "You're gonna have to battle it a lot harder than that."

"Oh. Okay, thanks," May says.

The Wurmple charges forward, hitting Torchic with its horn.

"Torchic, oh no!" May cries out.

Franklin #1 advice, "You know, fire attacks can be really powerful against Bug Pokemon. So, May, try using an Ember attack."

"Sounds good," May says and calls out, "Go, use Ember attack, now!"

Torchic fires the attack, nailing Wurmple.

"That's good! Now try and catch it!" Franklin #1 says.

May throws her Pokeball, "Okay! Pokéball, go!"

The Pokéball hits, whirls, wobbles and blinks, but it wobbles slower and slower until it finally pings.

May then picks the Pokéball up and lightly shakes it, "Well, hopefully that did the trick this time. I hope Wurmple doesn't come back out again."

But Franklin #1 reassures, "Hey, don't worry, I think you captured it."

"I did it! I caught a Wurmple! Yay!" May cheers.

You sure did, May. That's great, " Franklin #1 says.

However, as May celebrates, a claw comes down and snatches the Pokéball as the two look and find Team Rocket's balloon.

"You can't take that!" Franklin #1 shouts.

Jessie and James laugh and begin their motto again.

Jessie:

Prepare for trouble, we steal what we choose.

James:

Make it double, we choose Wurmple, you lose!

Jessie:

To protect the world from devastation!

James:

To unite all people within our nation!

Jessie:

To denounce the evils of truth and love!

James:

To extend our reach to the stars above!

Jessie:

Jessie.

James:

James.

Jessie:

Team Rocket lies, cheats and steals at the speed of light.

James:

Surrender to our criminal ways or prepare to fight!

Meowth:

Dat's right!

Wobbuffet:

Woooobbuffet! (End of scene!)

May demands, "Hey, give back my Wurmple, Meowth, and make it snappy!"

"I don't respond to yelling," Meowth says as he uses the claw to hand Jessie May's Pokéball.

"Ha. You see, what's yours is ours and what's ours is ours, that's the brakes," Jessie says with confidence.

"How many times do we have to clarify? You catch then we steal! It's that simple!" James says.

Team Rocket all call out, "Buh-bye!"

Franklin #1 is not having it, "Not so fast!" And throws his Pokemon as he calls out, "Heracross, use Horn Attack on that balloon!"

Heracross comes out and rips a hole in the balloon.

"Huh?" Team Rocket yelps.

The sudden 'ride' causes Jessie to drop May's Pokéball.

"Wobbuffet!" (Incoming!) Wobbuffet cries out.

"I got you, Wurmple!" May calls out and catches the Pokéball, "I did it!"

"Great. Nice catch." Franklin says.

Suddenly, Jessie speaks out, "Like we said…"

They look ahead and see Team Rocket under their crashed balloon.

"You catch and we steal!" James says.

Meowth says, "Dat's da way its suppose to woik in dis crazy cartoon, but it looks like now we gotta go one more round!"

Team Rocket gets up

"And this'll be the last time, got it?!" Jessie says and calls out, "Seviper, let's go!"

James calls out his Pokemon, "Cacnea, you, too!"

Both Pokemon come out of their Pokemon.

Jessie calls out, "Seviper, use Poison Tail!"

"Cacnea, Pin Missile, let's go!" James calls out.

Both Pokémon charge.

May calls out, "Now, Torchic, Ember attack!"

Torchic fires the attack, but the oncoming Pokémon dodge before Cacnea fires its attack, nailing Torchic and setting it up for being hit by Seviper's Poison Tail, however…

Franklin #1 then calls out, "Heracross, stop that attack!"

Heracross does so.

"Is that fair?!" Team Rocket exclaims.

Franklin #1 says to May, "May, have both your Torchic and your Wurmple attack at the same time, okay?"

"Uh, okay," May says and calls out her new Pokemon, "Go, Wurmple, time to come out!"

"Now, here goes," May says, but soon realizes, "Uh, oh, I don't know. What attacks do Wurmple use?"

"They can use String Shot," Franklin #1 says.

"String Shot. Right," May says and calls out, "Wurmple, use String Shot!"

Wurmple launches the attack and Heracross gets out of the way just in time as Seviper and Cacnea are webbed up.

James calls out, "Hang in there, Cacnea!"

"Seviper, don't let that keep you down!" Jessie shouts.

Then May calls out, "Now, Torchic, Ember attack!"

Torchic fires the attack, battering Cacnea and Seviper.

Franklin #1 then calls out, "Heracross, finish is up with Mega Horn!"

Heracross charges and sends Seviper and Cacnea flying right into Team Rocket, and they all end up being sent blasting off.

Team Rocket cries out, "Team Rocket's blasting off again!"

And soon, Team Rocket is gone.

May cheers, "Yeah! We did it! Alright!"

As May celebrates, Franklin watches on.

Meanwhile, Mew and the others are getting to know the other Franklin at a picnic table.

"So, you've been traveling and training your Pokémon for a long time, too, huh, Franklin?" Jen asks.

"Oh, yeah. I just got back home to these woods not too long ago," Franklin #2 says.

Suddenly, they hear May calling out, "Hey, guys!"

Everyone looks and sees May and the other Franklin coming.

"Hey, there's my sister," Max says.

May happily cheers, "I did it! I caught a Wurmple! Look!"

"She really did," Max says.

"Congrats," Brock says.

"Great job, May," Molly says.

"Thanks," May says.

Soon, the other Franklin shows up, confusing everyone.

"Wait, you look like…" May says.

The Franklin with May says, "Hi. Welcome back, Forrester."

The Franklin, who is really named Forrester, says, "Thank you, Forrest. Feels good to be back."

"So, you're brothers?" Jen asks.

"Uh huh," Forrest says.

"That's right. Identical twin brothers," Forrester says.

"That's cool," Tomo says.

Then Forrester introduces himself, "I'm Forrester. Forrester Franklin."

And Forrest introduces himself, "And I'm Forest Franklin."

"Wow. This is fun," May says.

Forrest then says, "Forrester, guess what? I'm gonna travel with my Pokemon, too."

"Really? Good for you. Then I'll watch over the forest while you're gone," Forrester says.

"Hey, thanks," Forrest happily says.

"That's great. Now I think it's time we had a little lunch. How does everyone feel about that?" Brock says.

Everyone happily says, "Sounds great!"

All the Pokemon are excited.

May then says, "You too, Torchic, Wurmple. Lunchtime!"

Wurmple and Torchic come out.

Torchic happily says, "Torchic." (Yummy!)

"Wurmple. Wurmple!" (Delicious!) Wurmple happily says.

Wurmple begins to eat quickly from bowl to bowl while Pikachu, Eevee, Amaura, Meloetta, Skwovet, Forretress, Lotad, Zigzagoon, Poochyena, and Shroomish watch in shock and astonishment. Wurmple soon starts eating the stew.

"Well, there's no problem with its appetite," Brock says.

"Yeah, Wurmple can sure eat," Tomo says.

Wurmple soon finishes eating everything and then, satisfied with its meal, crawls over to May, yawns, curls up at May's feet and goes to sleep.

Max says, "Okay, so it eats all of our food and then just falls asleep."

"Guess it's a good thing that's it's so darn cute," May says as she chuckles and picks up Wurmple.

"And good looks can get you pretty far. Take it from me," Brock says.

Everyone laughs

Now that May has caught her first Pokémon, our heroes have a very hungry Wurmple for a new friend as they press onward to Rustboro City.

Elsewhere, as the sun starts to set, we find Team Rocket holding onto a branch on a cliff for dear life as they groan in disappointment.

"Every time we have the perfect plan, we end up in a scenario similar to this one, and I now blame you," Jessie says.

"Funny, I was just thinking the same thing about you!" James says.
