Episode 17: The Winner By a Nosepass!

Mew calls out, "Pikachu, Iron Tail, let's go!"

Pikachu charges up the attack and slices through a boulder.

"That was great, Pikachu," Mew says.

"Pikachu!" (Thanks Mew) Pikachu says,

"Evee, use Shadow Ball!" Mew calls out.

Eevee performs Shadow Ball.

"Awesome job, Eevee," Mew says.

"Vee!" (Thanks!) Eevee says.

Then Mew calls out, "Sprigatito, use Magical Leaf!"

Sprigatito performs Magical Leaf.

"Nice work," Mew says.

Sprigatito meows in response.

Mew calls out, "Dragonair, use Aqua Tail!"

Dragonair performs Aqua Tail and hits a large rock.

"Great work," Mew says.

Dragonair feels pleased.

"Now remember, we need to have the perfect timing to use the attack," Mew says.

Pikachu, Dragonair, and Sprigatito agree.

"Pikachu and Sprigatito are so cute," May says.

"And Dragonair is strong," Tomo says.

"And they're doing well with their attacks," Max says.

"Yeah, they've been working hard," Brock says.

"Now, just one more time, for me," Mew says.

And with that, all three Pokemon perform their attacks.

Soon, Mew and her Pokemon are taking a break.

"You're doing really great, Mew," Jen says.

"Thanks," Mew says.

Brock then says, "Well, since Roxanne's Geodude is at a pretty high level, even with your Pokemon's strong attacks, it's gonna be a pretty tough battle, right?

Max turns to May, "And you, May? What's your strategy gonna be for this battle?"

But May says, "Oh, I think I'll pass."

"You'll pass?!" Everyone but Mew says in shock.

"That's what I've decided," May says.

"You're gonna pass, after coming all this way?" Tomo says, confused.

"That's weird," Max says.

"Yeah, May. Why would you do that?" Brock asks.

"I think I know," Mew says.

Everyone turns to Mew in a confused expression.

Mew says, "Sounds to me that May wants to be a Pokemon Coordinator than a Trainer, right May?"

Mew nods, "That's right. I want to become a Pokemon Coordinator, just like Janet. And I suspect you want to be a Coordinator too."

"That's right. Not only I want to collect badges, but I want to be part of contests and compete as well," Mew says.

Everyone becomes baffled.

Then Max asks, "But why would you miss out on this chance now that you're already a Pokemon trainer?"

However, May explains, "Well, I'll tell you the truth, Max. I never really wanted to be a Pokemon trainer. All I ever really wanted to do was get out and travel and see different places. Being a trainer was the perfect excuse to be able to do all that."

"No way!" Max says, shocked.

"And, to be perfectly honest, I never really even liked Pokemon," May says.

Everyone is shocked to hear it.

"Really? I never knew that," Mew says.

"Yes. I didn't like Pokemon at first, but now I love em. Torchic, Wurmple, Pikachu, Eevee, and so I'm glad I went through all that and became a trainer, cause it helped me appreciate Pokemon. You guys remember that Pokemon Contest, right? I just knew that was for me right away. You see, those Pokemon were cute and strong, and that's the kind of Pokemon I want, the kind that'll take your breath away.

Everyone is surprised, but soon smiles.

Mew nods, "Well, if that's what you want to do, May, then we're behind you all the way."

"Mew's right. If that's what you want to do, then you should go for it," Molly says.

"I agree," Jen says.

"Yeah. We're with you," Tomo says.

"Yeah, we'll help you with whatever you need to become an awesome Pokemon Coordinator," Brock says.

"Thanks, guys," May says.

And Max says, "You know, it's not gonna be an easy job trying to be Coordinators and stuff."

"Oh, Max, we know that," May says "That's why I'm gonna work as hard as we possibly can. You're behind us, too, aren't you?"

Then turns to Mew, "And I'm sure you're behind Mew as well."

"That reminds me," Max says and turns to Mew, "What makes you think of becoming a coordinator when you've already accomplished so much as a trainer?"

"Well, it's a long story," Mew says, "You see, during our journey in the Johto Region, we went to Bandeau City where we met Elias, who was mayor along with his wife, Carol, and their son Miles, who is currently a coordinator. As it turns out, he's really my uncle on my mother's side."

This shocked May and Max.

"Your uncle?!" Max says, shocked.

Mew nods, "Yes. That's how I learned about my parents. My father, Ichigo, was a Pokemon trainer from the Unova Region, and my mother, Eliza, was a Pokemon Coordinator, and a Grand Festival Winner,"

This makes May excited, "Really she was?"

"That's right. And since I've heard stories about my mom being a Coordinator, I thought of giving it a try. And after participating in the one at Rustboro Hall, I've decided officially to give it a go," Mew says.

"I get it. You want to be a Coordinator so you can learn more about how your mother was on that path," May says.

"That's right," Mew says.

"It won't be easy to juggle two goals," Max says.

"I'm sure I'll do fine," Mew says.

"Anything else about your dad?" May asks.

"Well, my dad has traveled and won Pokemon leagues in the regions. What's more my dad can talk and understand Pokemon too," Mew says.

"No way!" Max says, shocked.

"But what happened to them?" May asks.

"The truth, we don't know. From what Elias and Professor Oak explained, my father was going to be meeting with Professor Oak to study and be his assistant. But they disappeared," Mew says.

"And somehow I ended up in Pallet Town Forest where Zeraora found and raised me," Mew says.

"I'm sorry to hear it," May says.

"Thanks guys," Mew says, "I still want to learn about my parents and learn about what happened to them. Of course, I need to win this battle with Roxanne first.

Meanwhile, James is shocked by what he finds in a book he's reading, "It's that Geodude school teacher from yesterday!"

Jessie looks at the book, "Well, well. So she's also the Rustboro gym leader. Interesting."

"Dat makes sense now why she was so strong!" Meowth says, shocked.

Then Jessie says, "Okay, two can play at that game! We'll just simply disguise ourselves as something that we're not and steal all of her Pokemon."

"And we already know dat gym leader's Pokemon are super strong, just what we need to pump up our Team Rocket enterprise here in Hoenn!" Meowth says.

But James says, "Slow down! To either of you ever recall pulling this sort of thing off successfully?! Not I! Nope! Not once!"

"Sad to say…" Jessie says.

"But, you're right," Meowth says.

Then James stands up, "So what?! We still want them just the same! So, we'll weave a brand-spanking new plan to put her Pokemon in our possession and hopelessly humiliate that gym leader!"

Jessie and Meowth are both confused until they all find themselves in construction worker outfits.

"So, another pitfall?" Jessie questions.

"Maybe dere's a twist?" Meowth says.

"There is. This time, we're digging a tunnel!" James says.

"A tunnel?!" Jessie and Meowth reply, confused.

Wobbuffet appears, "Wobbuffet" (I dig it!)

Meanwhile, the gang arrives at the gym. The gym is a large building that looks like a rock structure.

"So this is the Rustboro gym," Brock says.

"This is Roxanne's gym?" May asks.

"It's nothing like the Petalburg gym, that's for sure," Max says.

"Well, all gyms are different depending on the trainer," Jen says.

"It kind of reminds me of the Pewter Gym," Mew says.

"Yeah," Tomo says.

"Yeah. A great place for a Rock Gym," Brock says.

"Well, I'm ready," Mew says.

They soon open the door.

"We're here," Mew calls out.

But when they enter, they find the gym hands cleaning the battlefield.

"Awesome!" Msy says.

"Wow! Look at that battlefield!" Max replies.

"Yeah! I can't imagine a better battlefield for rock Pokemon!" Brock says.

A Gym hand turns to the group, "Good morning, folks. You must be Ashley from Pallet Town and May from Petalburg City, am I right?"

"Right!" Mew and May say.

The Gym hand turns back and calls out, "Teacher, your challengers are here for their battle!"

Roxanne sees them and says, "Welcome. I have to say, I'm so very happy that you both are beginning your Hoenn region journey experience in my own Rustboro gym. This is really quite an honor for me."

"Thanks, Roxanne," Mew says.

May then steps forward, "Except, you see…"

Roxanne is confused and May sits down with her to discuss her decision.

"So, you've decided to become a Pokémon Coordinator instead, May?" Roxanne replies.

"Yes," May says.

Roxanne smiles and says, "People choose different ways of interacting with Pokémon, good luck with your choice."

"Thank you, Roxanne," May happily says

Roxanne turns to Mew, "Mew, are you all set to get started?"

"Yep. All ready to go!" Mew says.

Soon, the student calls out, "Teacher, everything's ready!"

"Alright, thanks!" Roxanne replies.

Brock is surprised, "Wow! They call you teacher?"

"Yes. You see, they're all students from the trainer's school, Brock. They come here to work at the gym as interns, and in the process of assisting me, they also gain valuable experience as trainers," Roxanne explains.

"Cool," Max and Tomo reply.

Roxanne turns to Mew and asks, "Say, Mew, would you mind if I made a video tape of our battle?"

"I don't mind," Mew says.

"Thanks, I like to use the videos in class. I found that if trainers are able to watch and study actual gym battles, it's a great way to learn," Roxanne says.

"That's alright with me. It will be a great way to show the students how a gym battle is done. And maybe even win a badge," Mew says.

Roxanne and May giggle in response.

Soon, both trainers are on the battlefield and ready to go.

"Wonder what Mew's strategy is," Max wonders.

"You love this, don't you?" May asks.

"I sure do! It's the first real gym battle I've ever seen!" Max says.

Brock then asks, "But didn't you ever get to watch your dad battle in the Petalburg gym, Max?"

"Nope. He didn't want to mess with the challenger's concentration so he never let us watch em," Max says.

Soon, the student says, "The battle between the gym leader, Roxanne, and her challenger, Ashley from Pallet Town, will now begin! This will be an elimination match, with each trainer using two Pokémon! Only the challenger is allowed to substitute Pokémon during that match!"

Roxanne then calls out, "Let's begin. Geodude, I choose you!"

Geodude then comes out.

"Whoa! Geodude?!" Max says, surprised.

May scans it with her Pokédex

Dextette says, "Geodude, the Rock Pokémon. A Rock and Ground Type. Geodude has incredibly high defensive power, making it virtually resistant to any physical attacks."

"Oh, boy. So, anyway, it's a pretty strong one," May says.

"That's true, and Geodude's hard body isn't just for defense, either, it can be super destructive, when it uses attacks like Tackle," Max says.

And May remembers, "Oh, yeah. Remember that Rollout attack it did?"

"I knew she'd use her Geodude," Mew says, and I've got the good Pokemon to battle. She then calls out, "Sprigatito, I choose you!"

And soon, Sprigatito comes out.

"Ready, Sprigatito?" Mew calls out.

"So Mew is using Sprigatito first," Mew says.

"Based on type, Sprigatito's got the advantage as a Grass Pokémon," Max says.

"That's true, but Geodude is also strong, so it will be difficult for Sprigatito, even though she knows a few Grass Moves," Brock says.

"That's true," May says

Max becomes excited, "That makes it more exciting! I can't wait to see what Ash's strategy is."

The student calls out, "Begin the match!"

"Alright Sprigatito, use Quick Attack!" Mew calls out

Roxanne calls out, "Stop it!"

Geodude charges to attack.

But Mew calls out, "Now, jump and use Leafage!

Sprigatito then fires the attack.

Roxanne calls out, "Quick, use Defense Curl!"

Geodude does so, but it does cause a little damage.

"Guess using distance attacks might not work the same way," Mew says.

"You are correct," Roxanne says. I suspect you know that Geodude's defensive power's way to high to be defeated by some physical attack like that. Of course, it's a good strategy."

"It's good that Mew kept her distance, but Geodude is not going to be easy to defeat," Max says.

"Yeah. Mew was able to catch Geodude off guard by having Sprigatito use Quick Attack and jump to use Leafage," Brock says.

"I hope they'll be okay," Molly says.

But Brock just closely watches.

Roxanne calls out, "Alright, now it's my turn! Geodude, Mega Punch, now!""

Geodude charges for the attack.

"Dodge!" Mew calls out.

Sprigatito dodges the attacks as Geoude throws punches. One of the attacks lands and sends Sprigatito flying towards the ceiling.

"That was a serious Mega Punch!" Max says.

"Yeah, bullseye!" Brock says.

"Sprigatito might be hurt!" Mew says.

"Hang in there, Sprigatito, this is gonna be our chance!" Mew calls out.

"Their chance?" Max questions.

Sprigatito recovers in mid-air and comes down head first.

"Sprigatito, use Take Down Attack, now!" Mew calls out.

"She's going to use a physical attack?" Roxanne questions.

Geodude prepares to stop Sprigatito.

Mew then shouts, "Shadow Claw!"

Sprigatio then begins to perform the attack at the last second, to the surprise of both Roxanne and Geodude, and smacks Geodude in the face with its attack, causing it to go backwards until it crashes.

"That's the way! Great job," Mew calls out.

The dust clears and shows Geodude buried under a pile of rocks.

Roxanne calls out, "Geodude!"

"Woah! When did Mew teach Sprigatito that attack?" Jen asks.

"Somehow, that attack worked! But how?" Max asks.

Brock soon understands, "I see! It's the speed!"

"The speed?" May questions.

Brock says, "See, by adding the speed of Sprigatito's fall into that attack and putting body weight into it, too, it multiplied the force of the attack!"

"Wow! Just like Mew's said, it really was their chance! Mew is so awesome!" Max says, amazed.

"How's that, Roxanne?" Mew questions.

"I guess I have to say it was a brilliant maneuver, Ashley. Using the speed of Sprigatito's fall, but…"

Right on cue, Geodude busts out of the rock pile

"It recovered!" Molly says, shocked.

Roxanne then calls out, "Now, Geodude, Rollout!"

Geodude goes up and then curls up and rolls towards Sprigatito when it comes down

"Jump and dodge it!" Mew calls out.

Sprigatito does so, but Geodude follows it before coming out of it.

Roxanne calls out, "Geodude, use Mega Punch!"

"Quick, use Energy Ball!" Mew calls out.

Sprigatito begins to perform the attack and about to launch, but Geoeude hits the attack, causing a huge explosion sending both Pokemon back and hitting the ground hard.

"Sprigatito!" Mew calls out.

"Geodude!" Roxanne calls out.

When the smoke clears, it reveal that both Pokemon are on the ground.

"Sprigatito!" Mew calls out.

"Geodude!" Roxanne calls out.

Mew calls out, "Can you get up?!"

Sprigatito tries to get up and mananges to stand up. Geodude is soon able to get up as well.

"Are you okay?" Roxanne asks.

Geoeude nods.

Mew calls out, "Are you okay, Sprigatito?"

Sprigatito nods, but soon collapses on the floor

"Sprigatito!" Mew cries out.

The student soon announces, "Sprigatito is unable to battle, Geodude wins!"

Mew then picks up her Pokemon, "Thank you, Sprigatito. You were really awesome."

"Aw, Sprigatito lost," Max says.

"After all that hard work," May says.

"Yeah, but this match is far from over," Brock says.

"Yeah. Mew still has one Pokemon left," Jen says.

Then Mew says, "Alright, I choose, you, Eevee."

"Eevee!" (Got it!) Eevee says.

"Eevee?" The student says, confused.

"Evee, huh? An interesting idea," Roxanne says.

"Just wait'll you see us battle," Mew says.

"Eevee Vee." (It's a shocker.)

"Very well. In light of your impressive confidence, I would be wrong to stand in the way of your attempt. So, let's see what you've got, Mew!" Roxanne says.

"Alright Eevee, give it your Thunder!" Mew calls out.

Eevee launches Thunder, causing the battlefield to rip apart somewhat as it heads straight for Geodude, causing a massive blast of electricity and light, shocking Max and May.

Soon, the light fades.

"My stars!" Roxanne says, surprised.

The battlefield is shown to be altered by the attack.

Max is surprised, "No way! Look at that battlefield!"

"It's totally flattened!" May says.

"Great, Eevee!" Mew calls out.

"Eevee!" (Thank you!) Eevee says.

"Watch out, cause here we come!" Mew says.

Meanwhile, outside the gym, Team Rocket is digging their tunnel.

Digging, James says, "Shovel! Shovel! Shovel! Shovel! Shovel! Shovel!"

" I'm all shoveled out.," Meowth says.

But James says, " No you don't! We've barely begun, Meowth! There'll be no breaks till we reach the gym floor!"

"Come on. Can't we just buy a digging machine?" Jessie complains.

But James refuses, " No! It's that kind of wasteful spending that's nearly put us in the poorhouse more than once! Tell me, how much did we spend on that Wurmple Whacker?

Jessie gives in, " Oh, alright! So where's this digging gonna get us anyway?"

"I'm glad that you asked," James says and explains his plan, " First, we tunnel our clever selves down under and up to the gym floor. Next, we make our dramatic entrance through said gym floor, bag the gym leader's Pokémon and Pikachu or Eevee then retrace our steps through back through the tunnel."

"Where's da trill in dat?" Meowth asks.

"Well, whenever we attempt an expensive operation, we fall flat on our floored faces. This way, we can work conservatively without worrying about a budget disaster," James says.

" Budget?" Jessie says, confused.

" Consoive?" Meowth questions.

Then they both say, " You're no fun."

Wobbuffet soon appears, " Wobbuffet" (Back to work!)

Back in the gym…

"So that was Eevee's Thunder attack! Awesome!" May says, amazed.

"Yeah, but it could've lost a lot of energy by using Thunder right off, huh?" Max says.

"That's true. And it doesn't look like Eevee's attack did any damage to Geodude at all," Brock says.

"Which means Mew has a plan," Tomo says.

Jen and Molly nod in response.

"I don't think you realize that what you've done here is give Geodude more room to launch more attacks, Ashley, so thank you," Roxanne says.

"What do you mean by that?" Mew questions.

" Rock Throw, Geodude!" Roxanne calls out.

Geodude hits the ground hard to cause rocks to fly up and at Eevee.

" Quick Attack!" Mew calls out.

Eevee darts forward, dodging the oncoming rocks until it comes face to face with Geodude.

" Mega Punch!" Roxanne calls out.

" Protect!" Mew calls out.

Eevee uses Protect just in time as Goeude hits, causing her to skid back and she soon stops.

Then Roxanne calls out, "Use Rollout!"

Geodude curls up and starts rolling, but can't seem to move when it lands.

"Geodude can't stay in a straight path!" Max says.

"I'll bet that was what Mew was going for!" May says.

"She must've known that if he broke up the battlefield underneath Geodude, its heavy bodyweight would end up rolling completely out of control!" Brock says.

Mew then calls out, " Now, use Quick Attack!"

Eevee darts in.

Roxanne calls out, " Geodude, get away!"

Geodude stops spinning around just as Eevee halts right in front of it.

" Thunder, now!" Mew calls out.

Eevee launches the attack at the point blank range, and knocking Geodude out cold.

Roxanne calls out " Geodude!"

The student announces, "Geodude is unable to battle, Eevee wins!"

" Yeah, Eevee!" Mew cheers

"Eevee!" (I did it!) Eevee cheers.

"What a battle!" May says, amazed.

"Eevee was great!" Molly says.

Even Max is amazed, "I never thought I'd see an Eevee using an electric attack and being able to defeat a rock Pokemon!

" When it comes to a Thunder attack at close range, obviously, it can do serious damage to a Geodude!" Brock says.

Roxanne then calls back Geodude, "Geodude, return!"

Geodude is recalled

Roxanne comments, " You were great. Ashley, well done. I've got to admit, in all my battling with Geodude, we've never lost to an Eevee using an electric attack like that, I'm impressed. Let's see how you do with this one!" And calls out her next Pokemon, " Nosepass, I choose you!"

And Nosepass comes out.

Nosepass is a blue, angular, hard bipedal Pokémon that closely resembles a Moai. Its bright red, triangular nose is highly magnetic and slightly resembles a 3D arrow. This nose functions as an electromagnet and always points north. It has arms and legs without any visible joints and small, circular holes on the undersides. Its arms resemble compass needles. It has similar circular holes on the sides of its head. Its eyes, cover.

"A Nosepass, huh," Mew says, and gets out her Pokedex.

Dextette says, "Nosepass, the Compass Pokemon. A Rock Type. Nosepass has a nose that functions as an electromagnet and determines location by moving its nose about."

Mew looks to notice Eevee breathing hard

"Eevee's looks exhausted," May says.

"I'm sure that battle with Geodude must've completely worn Eevee out," Brock says.

"Hopefully they'll be able to get through this next battle quickly," Max says.

"I hope Eevee will be okay," Jen says.

"You ready, Eevee?" Mew calls out.

Ëevee!" (Course I am!) Eevee says.

"Okay Eevee, let's start with your Quick Attack!" Mew calls out.

Eevee then performs Quick Attack.

"Go Nosepass!" Roxanne calls out.

Nosepass charges.

Then Mew calls out, "Evee, use Iron Tail!"

Eevee then performs Iron Tail and nails Nosepass with the attack.

"Alright Eevee!" Mew cheers.

"It worked!" May cheers.

"Oh, yeah! It worked, alright!" Max calls out.

"Keep it up, you guys!" Brock cheers.

Nosepass stumbles backwards.

"I get it now, Ashley. Your Eevee can use Iron Tail, huh? Nosepass, time to put Ashley and Eevee in their place!" Roxanne says.

Nosepass charges in

"Dodge and use Iron Tail!" Mew calls out.

Eevee dodges and performs Iron Tail again, but Nosepass is barely able to dodge.

Then Roxanne says, "Come on, As, do you think we're that inexperienced that we'd fall for it twice? Nosepass, use Rock Tomb!

Nosepass leaps forward, stomps the ground, and causes rocks to come up out of the ground and surround Eevee.

"Oh no!" Mew says, shocked.

"What's that attack?" Molly asks.

"That's a Rock Tomb attack!" Tomo says.

Brock calls out, if you don't do something quick to get Eevee out of those rocks, you're through!"

Mew calls out, "Evee, use Thunder to blow away the rocks!"

Eevee manages to do so, impressing Roxanne, though Eevee is even more exhausted.

"Good, what's next?" Mew says to herself in thought.

Meanwhile, underground, Team Rocket approaches what they think is the gym.

James taps the ceiling with the shovel, "Aha! Ever so close! That gym is no further away than a shovel or ten!"

"Does that mean we're nearly there?" Jessie asks.

"That's right. No mistaking!" James says.

"What're we waiting for? Keep digging!" Meowth happily says.

And Wobbuffet says, "Wooobbu!" (Upward!)

Back up in the gym…

Roxanne calls out, "Sandstorm, now!"

Nosepass' nose starts glowing and a sandstorm instantly kicks up, blinding everyone.

"Can't see a thing!" Mew cries out.

"Now what can she do?!" Max asks

"Nosepass can't see Eevee either, right?" May says.

But Brock says, "Wrong! Nosepass can use the electromagnet in its nose as a compass, remember?!"

Right on cue, Nosepass appears right behind Eevee and attacks. The sandstorm clears to reveal Eevee being squished by Nosepass' massive body.

"Eevee!" Mew cries out.

"Okay, good," Roxanne says.

Nosepass raises its foot to finish the job.

"Dodge it!" Mew calls out.

Eevee manages to do so.

Roxanne then calls out, "Rock Tomb again!"

"Quick Attack!" Mew calls out.

Eevee dashes in, dodging all the coming Rock Tombs.

"Spin Nosepass around, Eevee!" Mew calls out.

Eevee does so while avoiding every attack Nosepass throws.

"What's Mew up to this time?" Max asks.

"I think he might be trying to tire out Nosepass. And after being spun around at that speed, it'll have no idea which was is up!" Brock says.

"Well, I sure hope it works," Molly says.

Eevee continues to run laps around Nosepass.

Roxanne then calls out, "Nosepass, you can't look for Eevee with your eyes, you've gotta try and lock in on Eevee's electricity!"

Nosepass tries to do so, but Eevee leaps up behind it.

"Eevee use Iron Tail!" Mew calls out.

Eevee then comes down and hits Nosepass, but it's proven to be strong.

"Nosepass is pretty strong," May says.

"Yeah, and even with Iron Tail, Eevee is starting to get tired," Max says.

"And really need to get the right timing for it to work," Brock says.

"And with all the running around Eevee's been doing, there just hasn't been enough time to do that!" Mays says.

"My, my, I'm impressed. I've never seen a Pokemon last this long," Roxanne says, "But now, it's over! Nosepass, Thunder Wave!"

Nosepass jumps upward

"It jumped?!" Mew says, shocked.

Soon, the attack fires from Nosepass' nose, but Eevee dodges just as one of Team Rocket's shovels penetrates the floor, only for it to catch the attack.

"James, what's wrong?" Jessie asks.

"Nothing. Although my arms are feeling a bit, tingly," James says.

The blast soon heads down to Team Rocket, sending them through the tunnel.

"No! Say it ain't so!" Team Rocket cries out.

Team Rocket goes flying out the tunnel entrance and blasts off.

"Team Rocket's blasting off again!" Team Rocket cries out.

Back in the gym, the dust clears and shows Eeveebarely hanging on.

"Man, never knew Nosepass can use Thunder Wave," Mew says.

"It's always good to have a surprise attack handy, agreed? Of course, I learned that strategy from you, Ashley," Roxanne says.

Mew calls out, "You okay to keep going, Eevee?"

"Eevee!" (Of course!) Eevee says, still determined.

"What?" Roxanne questions.

"Roxanne, the tougher the battle, that just means the harder we fight. We're just getting warmed up," Mew says.

"Wonder where she gets all of that confidence," May asks.

"Way back when, he might've had nothing to base it on," Brock says.

"I'm afraid he may need more than Iron Tail to win this one," Max says.

Mew soon sees electricity sparking up through Eevee's tail.

"Electricity…" Mew says, Then she has an idea, "That's it! Eevee, charge in towards Nosepass again!"

Eevee darts forward.

"Don't tell me Iron Tail again. She can't be relying on that," Roxanne says. She then, "Use Zap Cannon!"

Nosepass fires the attack.

"Receive it!" Mew calls out.

Eevee takes the full force of the attack, but he absorbs it, to the shock of everyone.

"It absorbed, the shock?!" Brock says, shocked.

"Now, drive straight on towards Nosepass!" Mew calls out.

Eevee rams right into Nosepass, causing an explosion upon impact. Eevee lands as Nosepass takes a couple steps back

"Nosepass, Rock Tomb again!" Roxanne calls out.

However, Nosepass can't seem to move.

"No way!" Roxanne says, shocked.

"Looks like it can't attack," Mays ays.

"I don't think Nosepass can move," Max says.

"Nosepass is completely paralyzed," Jen says.

"You're right," Max says, "Sometimes, the static electricity from a super powerful electrical attack can completely paralyze a Pokemon."

Then Brock says, "Mew and Eevee used the charge from that Zap Cannon to stop Nosepass right in its tracks!"

Mew calls out, "Now Eevee hit Nosepass with all the power you've got! Iron Tail, go!"

Pikachu charges and comes down with it. Soon, Eevee lands the attack with full strength, taking Nosepass down.

The student announces, "Nosepass is unable to battle! Eevee wins! Victory of this match goes to Ashley from Pallet Town!"

"Yeah, we did it!" Mew cheers.

As Mew and Eevee celebrate, the students manning the cameras and Roxanne are all in shock

Mew hugs Eevee, "You're the best, Eevee!"

"Amazing! She won!" May says, amazed.

"Sure did, and that was a really great battle!" Brock says.

"That was awesome!" Tomo says.

"Eevee really hold herself out there," Molly says.

Max is amazed, "Now I know! That's what a gym battle's like!"

Later that evening, outside the gym..,

Roxanne says, "You know, Mew, I've never seen a better team than you and your Eevee. And I really learned a lot competing against the both of you today, thanks for a great battle."

"Yeah, we really learned a lot from you, too," Mew says.

"I'm sure that my students were all equally impressed by your diligence and by your fighting spirit, Mew. I'm happy to present you, as a most worthy trainer, with this Stone badge," Roxanne says.

She then presents the Stone Badge. It is shaped like a rectangle with two of its corners more emphasized than the others.

"Thank you Roxanne," Mew says and takes the badge.

Mew presents it to Eevee and Pikachu, "Look, we got the Stone Badge."
