Episode 18: Stairway to Devon
At the Pokemon Center, Mew is looking at her first badge.
"My first badge in the Hoenn region," Mew says.
"That's so cool, Mew," Max says.
"Thanks. I can't wait for my next one," Mew says.
Molly asks, "Where is the next gym?"
"I'll check it out," Max says and activates the PokéNav, "According to this, the next gym is on Dewford Island."
"Great," Mew says.
"That's cool," Tomo says.
Suddenly, they hear May scream, "Oh!"
Follow by Brock, "Whoa!"
Everyone looks to their immediate right.
"What's wrong guys?" Jen asks.
Turns out, Brock and May were checking two copies of one magazine.
"They've got everything here is Rustboro. It's one of those giant cities that has something for everyone," Brock says.
"Clothing stores, jewelry stores, flower shops, outdoor restaurants, everything you need to survive," May says.
"Sounds nice," May says.
"But what about Dewford Island?" Tomo asks.
"Well, the gym isn't going anywhere," May says.
And Brock says, "We have two hours before the next ferry to Dewford Island, anyway, and according to this guide book, there's lots to do here that doesn't involve just shopping. So why don't we all just check out the city on our own and then meet at the ferry?"
May chuckles, "Okay."
Mew thinks and says, "Sure. I don't see why not."
"Yeah," Jen says.
"Sounds nice," Molly says.
"Yeah, that sounds good," Max says.
Suddenly, Max accidentally spills his Soda, "Ah!"
The soda spilled on the PokéNav and it was fried causing Max to yell before he tried to clean it while grunting with worry, then he tried to turn it on.
"Uh-oh. Uh…" Max says, worried.
Everyone turns to Max, "Huh?"
"Is everything okay over there?" May asks.
Max becomes nervous, "Uh, uh.." He soon notices the PokéNav in his and yells before quickly hiding it, "Just fine. Everything's okay. And especially good with the PokéNav. Got to go," and runs off.
"Wonder what's with him," Mew wonders.
"Who knows," Max and Brock respond.
Jen says, "I'll check on him."
"I'll go too," Tomo says.
"Me three," Molly says.
"Alright, but remember to stick together," Mew says.
"Okay," The three respond and hurry after Max.
Elsewhere, Max is seen wandering around the city on his own, worrying about what he's gonna do if the others learned that the PokéNav was broken.
"Max, wait!" Jen calls out.
Max turns to see Jen, Tomo, and Molly rushing over.
"Guys, what are you doing here?" Max asks.
"We want to check on you to see if you're okay," Tomo says.
"Not really," Max says, nervously.
And sighs as he presents the PokeNav, "I accidentally spilled soda on it and it broke."
"That's not good," Tomo says.
Max groans, "How am I gonna tell May that I broke it?"
"I'm sure we'll think of something," Molly says.
Soon, the group spots some kids gathered around someone up ahead.
"Who's that guy?" Max wonders.
What they see is a man who is medium height and appears to have a chunky build due to his large heavy clothes. He has thick spiky gray hair, small dark eyes and a flat looking face with sticking out ears. He wears a large thick overcoat with two rows of buttons over a white shirt with a tie. He wears a white hat with a black stripe.
"And, you're gonna love the next invention I have to show you!" The man says.
"What is it? Show us!" The kid eagerly asks.
As the child speaks, Max and the others approach the crowd.
"This guy some kind of inventor?" Max wonders.
"Yes. He comes and shows off new inventions to us sometimes," Another kid answers.
The man shows a device with a wrestler on it.
"This one's a can opener for soft drinks. You there, come closer," The man says.
All the kids are all amazed as the can opener sets to work and tries to open the soft drink.
"Come on, you can do it," The man says.
But the can opener wrestler invention ends up crushing the soft drink can and squirts the drink in the man's face.
"Can opener wrestler device soon says, "Here you go.
With looks of bafflement and words of distraught on their lips, the children leave, except for Max, Jen, Molly, and Tomo.
Molly giggles, "He's funny."
"And the device is weird," Tomo says.
Max sighs, "I've just got to get this PokéNav fixed."
Suddenly, the man speaks up, "Hey, kid!
"Huh?" The group of kids reply.
The man asks, "What's the matter, kid? That was a pretty hefty sigh."
"My name is Max, not 'kid.'" Max says, annoyed, "And these are my friends, Tomo, Jen, and Molly," And looks at his PokeNav, "I gotta tell my sister that I broke her PokéNav."
"Maybe you won't have to tell her anything. You could go to the Devon Corporation," The man says.
"And they'll protect me from May?" Max asks.
The man laughs, "Ha. Haven't you heard of the Devon Corporation? We can repair everything, because we make everything."
"Really?" Max asks.
And the man says, "And did you know that Devon actually produces Pokemon there, too?"
"They can produce Pokemon?" Max and Tomo say, surprised.
"No way!" Jen and Molly say.
"Do I look like the kind of guy who would lie? I'm an inventor!" The man says.
Suddenly, a limo arrives with a screeching stop.
"Huh?" The man reacts.
Someone soon comes out, and sees the man, "There he is," He then shuts the door and runs towards him.
"Uh-oh. Nice meeting you, Max and friends. Just remember the Devon Corporation. It's the biggest building in town," The man says and runs off.
"Wait! Hold on!" Max calls out.
"Where are you going?" Molly calls out.
Max steps aside as the stranger runs to the corner and stops and looks around.
"How does he run so fast at his age?" The man says to himself. He then takes a phone and makes a call, "Hey, this is Kennedy. He's heading your way."
"That was sudden," Jen says.
"You're right, Jen. Something weird is going on around here," Max says
Back at the Pokemon Center, Mew is talking to Professor Oak on the video phone.
"Professor Oak, I beat Roxanne. Look! Eevee really did great against Roxanne's Nosepass," Mew says.
I'm impressed. You earned a Stone Badge. And, Eevee, congratulations," Professor Oak says.
"Eevee," (Why, thank you.) Eevee says.
"Keep up the good work," Professor Oak says.
"Right! Thanks, Professor," Mew says.
Then Mew finishes her call.
Soon, she hears Brock, "Hey, Mew!"
Mew turns to see Brock with some boxes and bags.
"Done with my shopping," Brock says.
"Good to hear," Mew says, but soon notices, "Isn't May back yet?"
"Uh, yeah," Brock says.
Mew and Brock turn to find May on a bench, whimpering.
"What happened to her?" Mew asks.
"I guess this is what they mean by 'shop till you drop,' Brock says.
"What about Mac and the others?" Mew questions, "We're gonna miss the boat."
"Looks like it," Brock says.
Suddenly, May rushes up and startles the others, "That's great! I can do some more shopping!" and runs excitedly, "Alright!"
"Hey! Where are you going?" Brock calls out.
May giggles, "Well…" And presents a swimsuit, "I've only bought one swimsuit so far. If we're going to an island resort, I'm gonna need lots of 'em!"
"An island resort?" Mew questions.
"You know, Dewford Island, our next stop," May says, "I bet it's got sandy beaches and warm water to swim in and ice cream shops with hundreds of flavors," She squeals with excitement, "Can't wait! Anyway, catch you later!" and walks off.
Mew and Brock laugh nervously.
Mew then says, "Maybe we should focus on finding Max and the others.
Meanwhile, Max and the others come across the Devon Corporation building.
"Wow. This must be the Devon Corporation," Max says.
"It's huge," Tomo says.
"Skwovet!" (Really huge!) Skowvet says.
"Well, we better head inside," Jen says.
With that, the four kids and three Pokemon head up the stairs to the door, little do they know that Team Rocket is watching them.
"Well, here we are, James," Jessie says.
"That's quite an impressive building," James says.
Then Meowth comes up and says, "Yeah! A building like dat has gotta be chockful of booty for us to steal."
"And chockful of security guards, too," James adds.
"Are you trying to tell me you're afraid, James?" Meowth asks.
"I'm not scared!" James says to Meowth.
Then Jessie says, "Well, that's good, because we're going in and we're going in now."
"And we'll give all dat booty to da boss," Meowth says.
"Okay," James says.
And Team Rocket says, "And that means the promotion that we've all been waiting for!"
"But I can still boss the both of you around, right?" Jessie says.
"Right," The boys reply.
Inside the lobby, Max and the others meet some despairing news.
"What? How come you can't fix it?" Max asks.
"I'm sorry. Here at Devon Corporate Headquarters, we don't handle the repairs on products," The receptionist says.
"Guess he lied," Max says, and walks away dejected.
"I wonder why he wanted us to come here," Molly asks.
"I don't know," Tomo says.
The group soon looks back and sees Officer Jenny approach the desk.
"Excuse me…" Officer Jenny says.
Max and the others quickly find a place to hide.
"I'm not gonna give up that easily," Max says.
Soon, the men from earlier show up.
The man Kennedy, asks, "Can I, help you, Officer Jenny?"
Officer Jenny turns to see the two, "I apologize for taking your time, gentlemen. I have some information, it seems that someone is plotting to infiltrate the Devon Corporation and I thought you both should know."
"Who, Officer?" Kennedy asks.
"I've instructed my people to find out what they can about the situation. Meanwhile, it's important that you double check your security system," Officer Jenny says.
"Understood, I'll put everyone on alert," Kennedy says.
As Kennedy talks, the inventor slips away. Max and the others then peek out from his hiding spot, but the inventor manages to slip in behind them.
Hi. Hiding from someone?" The man says.
All four scream in fright, before the man hides them back and gestures to them to stop screaming, to prevent anyone from investigating.
The man responds, "Shh. I know this building inside and out, so I think it's best if you follow me."
The man soon leads Max and the others deeper into the Devon Corporate HQ.
"Sir, where are we going?" Max asks.
"Yeah. Where are we going?" Jen asks.
"Let me see the PokéNav," The man says and takes it.
"Hey! That belongs to my sister," Max says.
Observing it, the man says, "Oh, I see. You spilled your drink inside here, haven't you?"
"How did you know that?" Max asks.
The man soon leads the group into a laboratory
The man says to the group, "Shh. I think that Kennedy guy is still following me around. Don't say a word."
The people in lab coats notice them.
One of them says, "Not again,"
"Well, now you know this is always a safe place to hide," Another scientist says.
Then the man presents the PokeNac to the scientist, "Would you take a look at this PokéNav that's shorted out? It got some moisture into it, so I need a quick repair job."
"No problem," The scientist says, and takes it, "I'll fix it, Mr. President."
This revolation shocked the group, "President?!"
"That's right, this man is Joseph Stone, the president of the Devon Corporation," the female scientist says.
And the male scientist says, "But he tends to get in trouble with his assistant, Kennedy, from time to time."
"Huh? Why can't a president do what he wants?" Max asks.
President Stone then says, "Well, that's just the way things are around here. And please, call me Mr. Stone."
Mr. Stone soon walks with the kids down the hall.
Mr. Stone explains, "If I'm ever stuck for inspiration or new ideas, I like to get out of this stuffy office and walk around town a bit. Kids are a great source of inspiration when I'm looking to create something new, and that's why I love talking to them. And if I never met you in the street and pointed you to this building, you'd still be out there running scared and at the mercy of your sister."
Max suddenly stops, "Did I look scared?"
"No, you looked terrified. She can't be all that bad," Mr. Stone answers.
"She's not really that bad, but she thinks I can't get by on my own. And I just want to prove to her that I'm not a little kid. But when I broke her PokéNav, I didn't know how to tell her. I'm scared of what she'll say to me," Max says
"Yeah. I know just how you feel," Mr. Stone says.
"Really?" Max asks.
Mr. Stone nods, "I really do, Max."
Max happily laughs and smiles. Tomo, Jen, and Molly smile as well.
Soon, they come across another lab.
"Whoa! Look!" Max says, amazed.
"This place looks so cool," Jen says.
"This is where my company develops and tests new products," Mr Stone says.
"What kind of new products?" Max asks.
Then Mr. Stone asks, "How'd you like to take a tour?"
"Yeah!" The four kids answer with excitement.
Mr. Stone soon shows the kids one of the inventions in the making.
"This machine creates a visual projection of Pokémon dreams," Mr. Stone says.
"Really? Pokemon dreams?" Jen asks.
"Can we see one?" Max asks.
But Mr. Stone says, "I'm afraid it's not quite finished yet."
"Darn," Max and the kids say, dejected.
Then another invention is shown, "This machine allows you to speak with Pokémon."
"Really? Can we speak with a Pokémon right now?" Max asks.
But Mr. Stone says, "No, this product is still in development."
"Aw!" Jen and Molly reply.
"Not again," Max says.
"Well, I don't have trouble talking and understanding Pokemon. I can do that all my life," Tomo says.
"Good for you," Mr. Stone says.
Yet another invention is shown.
"The main objective of this machine is to allow you to temporarily become a Pokémon," Mr. Stone says.
"Is it finished?" Molly asks.
"Well, no," Mr. Stone answers.
"Aww," The kids respond.
"So, do you have any inventions in this place that actually work?" Max asks.
Mr. Stone walks to a specific machine, "This is a machine I'm particularly proud of."
"Huh? Cause it works?" Max questions.
"Not yet, but my company is working hard to develop this prototype," Mr. Stone says, "It's a Pokemon producing machine. When it's finished and if it works, we'll be producing Pokemon right before our very eyes."
"No. You're serious?" Max asks, surprised.
Mr. Stone then explains, "These capsules are filled with Creation Fluid. We put a Pokémon fossil inside and extract its DNA, then we analyze it with a high-power supercomputer. Then the machine creates a blueprint for the organism, and from that blueprint, we hope to grow a regenerated, prehistoric Pokemon. See? It's going to be an exciting day when this machine works for the very first time."
"Wow! So you're gonna try and bring back Pokémon that are extinct?" Max asks.
"Yes, if there's a fossil we can use. And we can hopefully bring any Pokémon back to life with this machine," Mr. Stone says.
"You really think we'll be able to see Pokémon that no one has seen for thousands if not millions of years?" Max is really excited.
"I can tell that you're a big fan of Pokémon, aren't you, Max?" Mr. Stone says.
Max nods, "I can't wait to have one of my own someday. And when I'm big, I want to be a gym leader."
"That's great," Mr. Stone says, "What about you kids?"
"I want to be a Pokemon trainer," Tomo says.
"I want to be a Gym Leader like my big sister," Jen says.
"I'm not sure yet," Molly says.
"Well you still have plenty of time to figure it out," Mr. Stone says.
Then Max asks, "Hey, would it be okay if I bring my other friends and my big sister here to see all your machines? I think they're over at the Pokémon Center right now."
"Well…" Mr. Stone thinks a minute. Then says, "Yeah, why not?"
"Yeah!" The children cheer.
Suddenly. Kennedy's voice appears, "Mr. President."
The group stops when they hear and see Kennedy.
Kennedy approaches them and says, "There you are, I've been looking all over for you. You should be back in your office, sir. You have several appointments."
"Looks like I've been caught," Mr. Stone says.
"But he's the boss," Max points out.
Mr. Stone then says, "Kennedy, I'd like you to meet my friend, Max. And his friends, Tomo, Jen, and Molly.
"Hello, sir," Max says.
"Hi," Tomo says.
"Hello," Molly says.
"Nice to meet you," Jen says.
"A pleasure. I'm the president's assistant," Kennedy says.
"So you're not a criminal then? I thought maybe you wanted to kidnap the president, since you were all secretive and everything back on the street," Max asks.
"Or a secret agent," Molly asks.
Mr. Stone then asks "Kennedy, would you mind running to the Pokemon Center to find Max's friends and his big sister and bring them back here for a little tour, huh?
"Sir, of course I would," Kennedy says.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket scopes out the front door.
"As I suspected, the security is very tight surrounding this building," Jessie says.
"Tight and mean-looking," James says.
"Could be ugly if we got caught," Meowth says.
"That won't happen, I thought ahead…" Jessie says and pulls out a lab coat, "And brought special disguises."
"What? Lab coats?" James says, surprised.
"You're brilliant, Jess!" Meowth happily says.
"Time to transform," Jessie says.
Team Rocket ducks down and changes into their disguises.
"Poifect fit," Meowth says.
Jessie and James shout, "Hey!" and pull Meowth up, "You won't be needing one!"
Meanwhile, inside the lab where the Fossil Revitalizer is being developed, someone takes two capsules of Creation Fluid.
"This machine's a bit temperamental," Mr. Stone says.
"Yeah," Max says.
As the group talk, the thief sneaks away, only for Mr. Stone to spot him walking out.
"What's the matter?" Molly asks.
"Nothing, but why don't we all take a little walk?" Mr. Stone says.
Soon, the group quietly follows behind the thief, disguised as one of the scientists.
"Where are we going?" Max asks.
Mr. Stone quietly says, "Quiet, Max. We're following that guy."
"How come?" Jen quietly asks.
"I make a point of knowing the faces of all my employees, but I haven't seen him before," Mr. Stone says.
"Do you think he's some kind of industrial spy?" Molly asks.
"I don't know, but I'll sure find out," Mr. Stone says.
Meanwhile, in the lobby, Mew, Brock, and May arrive.
Kennedy explains, "And the president of the Devon Corporation has taken a particular liking to you friends, especially Max."
"Wow," May says, a little surprised, "Why would he take a liking to that annoying little kid?"
Kennedy laughs, "You children can be so darn funny sometimes. I'll show you the way."
As the group follows Kennedy, Officer Jenny spots Team Rocket in disguise.
"Hi. We work here. That's why we have white coats," Jessie says.
"Good to see you all so hard at work," James says.
"No slacking now," Jessie says.
"Think of the shareholders," James says.
The receptionist and Officer Jenny watch as they walk along, until…
"Wait a minute!" Officer Jenny calls out.
Team Rocket quickly stops in their tracks.
"What's the matter, Officer? We're in a hurry," Jessie asks.
"We can't just hang around when we have important experiments to do on this Meowth, you know," James says.
But Officer Jenny says, "If you work here, then I'd like to see your ID cards, please."
Team Rocket screams in a panic, "ID cards?!"
Back with Mr. Stone and the kids, they continue to follow the thief before he heads out a door.
"He does look suspicious," Max says.
"I wonder what he's up to," Jen says.
"Let's go," Mr. Stone says.
Back to Mew and the others.
"I hear you're all Pokemon trainers, too. So, who's your little pals?" Kennedy replies.
"Yeah, this is my buddy, Pikachu and Eevee," Mew says.
Pikachu and Eevee reply hello in their language.
"Right. Now then," Kennedy says.
Then May asks, "So what is it about the kids, especially Max?"
"It's possible that Max could remind the president of his own son, Steven. Steven happens to be a very skillful Pokemon trainer," Kennedy says.
"No kidding," Brock says
"Maybe I'll battle him someday," Mew says.
"I'm sure that you two will meet up at some point in your journeys. Yep, Steven has thought only about Pokemon since he was a little boy," Kennedy says.
"Well, now it makes sense why the president's so fond of Max," May says with a smile.
They soon enter the lab where the Fossil Revitalizer is kept, but find something amiss.
"Is something wrong?" Kennedy asks.
"Yes, Kennedy, there's a problem," One of the scientists answers.
"Two of the Creation Fluid capsules are missing, sir," A female scientist says.
"How could that happen?" Kennedy asks, shocked.
Everyone is in shock at the news.
Meanwhile, Mr. Stone, Max, Tomo, Jen, and Molly continue to follow the thief outside.
"Just remain close to me," Mr. Stone says.
The kids nod in response as they continue to follow the thief. But soon, Max trips, alerting the thief to their presence and causing him to run for it.
"Hey, you!" Mr. Stone calls out.
The thief keeps running up the stairs.
"Are you okay, Max?" Jen asks.
"I'm okay," Max answers.
Then turns to Mr. Stone, "I'm sorry."
But Mr. Stone says, "No, you helped out."
"How?" Tomo asks.
"I'd say by his running away like that, he's practically confessed that he's not supposed to be here. Let's follow him!" Mr. Stone says.
The kids nod in response.
Back in the Fossil Revitalizer lab, everyone is in a fuss when Kennedy gets a call.
Kennedy answers the call, "Yes, Kennedy."
"It's me," Mr. Stone says.
Kennedy says, "President?!"
"The kids and I are chasing down a suspicious character wearing one of our lab coats. He's now heading up to the roof," Mr. Stone says.
Then Kennedy says, "Sir, two of our Creation Fluid capsules have disappeared from the laboratory, so that must be the person who's responsible for this theft! Yes, right away," And ends the call, "The president and your friends are chasing the suspect up onto the roof of the building."
Everyone is surprised by the development.
May turns to Mew, "Do you think that Max and the others ar gonna be alright, Mew?"
"Don't worry, May. We're gonna go up there and help them out," Mew says.
Pikachu and Eevee agree
"Yeah, we better hurry!" Brock says.
Then Kennedy says, "Follow me, I can lead the way. I know a shortcut where we can corner the suspect on the roof."
Down in the lobby, Team Rocket is still held up, getting more nervous every second.
"Funny you should ask about our cards," James says.
"Funny, yes," Jessie says.
And James adds, "That's the reason we brought this Meowth in with us today."
"Yes, it was a silly misunderstanding where this Meowth thought out cards were something edible," Jessie says before laughing nervously.
Then Officer Jenny asks, "So how did you get inside the Devon Corporation building? You should not have been able to enter without your ID cards."
"So, Meowth ate our cards," James answers.
"This is a misunderstanding, we haven't even done anything wrong yet," Jessie questions.
"What do you mean you haven't yet?" Officer Jenny questions.
Soon, a voice comes on the intercom, "Attention, a security announcement. Please remain calm. We have an emergency situation, there is an intruder in the building and research materials have been stolen. The suspect is wearing an employee-issued lab coat and sunglasses. Please apprehend anyone you see who matches this description."
As the voice talks, Team Rocket removes their disguises before proceeding to walk away, only to take off in a flat-out run as Officer Jenny realizes what's going on.
"Hey! Stop right there!" Officer Jenny shouts.
Meanwhile, Mr. Stone, Max, and the others continue to pursue the thief.
"Are you okay, kids? You're not scared?" Mr. Stone asks.
"No, just excited!" Max says.
"Yeah. We've been through something like this before," Tomo says.
"I'd say this is a good experience for you because trainers can only grow through having adventures," Mr. Stone says.
"Yeah!" Max says.
"This leads us to a staircase on the roof, so he can't get away!" Mr. Stone says.
The thief comes onto the roof, but is soon found to be cornered by the rest of Mew's group.
"Hold it right there!" Mew says.
"So you're the one who broke into this building!" Brock says.
"And stole those capsules of Creation Fluid!" May says.
"Tell us who you are, right now!" Mew demands.
The thief backs up, only to find the kids and Mr. Stone behind him.
"Okay, the game's up!" Mr. Stone says.
"It's Max and the others!" Mew says.
"Are you alright, Max?" May asks.
"Yep!" Max answers. Then turns to Mr. Stone, "That's my big sister, sir."
"Really?" Mr. Stone responds.
Then confronts the thief, "Give us back the capsules you stole from that lab!"
"I don't think so!" The thief says and tosses a Pokéball.
Out of the Pokeball is a primarily red, crustacean Pokémon with a tan underside. It has circular eyes set in deep sockets and a large, star-shaped growth on its forehead. The upper and lower halves of its underside are separated by a pattern of angular red shapes, and there are two blue stripes on its throat. Its forelimbs have two large pincers with spiked edges and tan lower halves form. There are two sets of hind limbs. The foremost pair are simple claws with two spikes, while the rear pair are large and thick with two white claws. A yellow triangle marks the base of its lobster-like tail.
"That's a Crawdaunt!" Mew says and brings out her Pokedex.
Dextette says, "Crawdaunt, the Rogue Pokémon. A Water and Dark Type. Crawdaunt are short-tempered and quick to challenge opponents to battle. It is said that no other Pokemon can live in areas inhabited by Crawdaunt."
Mew calls out, "Pikachu, go! Quick Attack!"
Pikachu leaps into action and nails Crawdaunt easily.
"Crawdaunt, Crab Hammer!" The Thief calls out.
Crawdaunt lands a hard blow on Pikachu.
"Pikachu!" Mew calls out.
Brock says, "That Crawdaunt's really powerful!"
"Eevee! Use Shadow Ball!" Mew calls out.
Eevee performs the attack.
"Crawdaunt, dodge!" The thief calls out.
Crawdaunt barely dodges the attack.
Soon, Team Rocket shows up, catching everyone off guard.
"Team Rocket!" Mew says, shocked.
"Hey, what are you three doing here?!" May demands.
Jessie:
Oh, prepare for trouble.
James:
And why not make it a Devon Double?
Jessie:
To protect the world from devastation!
James:
To unite all people within our nation!
Jessie:
To denounce the evils of truth and love!
James:
To extend our reach to the stars above!
Jessie:

The two soon start lifting a giant Team Rocket logo
Jessie (struggling):
Team, Rocket, blasts off at the speed of light.
James (struggling):

Jessie notices something off, "Something, doesn't feel quite right."
"Was our timing off?" James asks.
They suddenly hear Officer Jenny's voice, "Wait right there!"
Team Rocket screams in a panic, "It's her!"
Officer Jenny soon comes out, but notices, "Huh? What's going on here?"
The thief soon calls out, "Crawdaunt, go! Bubble Beam, now!"
Crawdaunt calls out the attack, knocking Ash, May, Brock, Kennedy, Officer Jenny, Mr. Stone, Max, Tomo, Jen, Molly, and even Team Rocket back.
The Thief chuckles, "Crawdaunt, return."
Crawdaunt is recalled and the thief runs for it.
"Hey! Hold on!" Tomo shouts.
The thief rushes to a box looking for something.
"You! Turn around!" Officer Jenny shouts.
The thief simply pulls out some kind of hang-glider.
"Oh, no! He planned to get away on the rocket powered hang-glider all along!" Mr. Stone says, shocked.
"Who is this guy?" Jessie asks.
"The guy who got here and broke in before we did," James says.
"Dat means…" Meowth says.
Team Rocket gets up.
"He must've stolen something we want," Jessie says.
"Well...?" James replies.
"Steal it back!" Meowth says.
Team Rocket charges as the thief takes off, "Geronimo!" and manage to grab onto the thief, hindering his flight pattern.
The thief shouts, "Get off of me!"
"Not a chance!" Jessie says.
"Okay, where'd you hide da booty?" Meowth shouts.
"Hand it over and we'll leave!" James says.
"Blast you all!" The Thief shouts.
As the shenanigans continue, everyone watches from the ground until Meowth pulls out the capsules of Creation Fluid.
"Look what I found!" Meowth says, seeing the stuff, and wonders, "What'd I find?"
Soon, the hang-glider starts to short out due to the weight.
"Let go!" The thief shouts.
The group soon flies back to the roof.
"They're coming back!" Jen cries out.
"Let me off!" Meowth cries out and throws the capsules away in fright.
Max makes a dash for them and tries to catch them while Ash throws Pikachu and Eevee into the air.
"Thunderbolt!" Mew calls out.
Both Pokemon fire the attack and the thief manages to shake Team Rocket off, causing them to take the shock and go flying.
"Team Rocket's blasting off again!" Team Rocket cries out.
The thief soon flies off into the city while everyone checks on Max.
"Max!" Mr. Stone calls out.
"Max!" May calls out.
"Are you okay?" Jen asks.
"Is the child okay?" Kennedy asks.
Soon, Max turns to reveal having the capsules, "Look! I saved the capsules!"
Mr. Stone smiles and nods approvingly
"But, who was that guy?" Tomo asks.
"I have that same idea," Officer Jenny says, "Since he was using a Crawdaunt, my guess would be that he's a member of Team Aqua."
"Team Aqua?" Max questions.
"Yes," Officer Jenny answers, "Here in the Hoenn region, there are two organizations who cause. There's Team Aqua and Team Magma. The organizations with the blue bandanas are Team Aqua, and those red-hoods, Team Magma. We'll set up a police line around the city so he won't be getting away."
"Team Aqua and Team Magma," Mew says, in a serious tone.
That night, the police scour the city for the Team Aqua spy, finding only his disguise and his damaged glider.
Meanwhile, at a restaurant…
"Thank you for all your help. You've saved our contract by saving an important part of our Fossil Revitalizer project," Mr. Stone says.
"Thanks, but I think the real hero is Max," Jen says.
"Yeah!" Max says and chuckles.
"Adventures are the best thing about being young. You know, my son, Steven, is traveling around like you are. Right now, he's on Dewford Island," Mr. Stone says.
Everyone is surprised by the news.
"Dewford Island?" Brock questions, surprised.
"I'm sure that you'll all have a good time while you're on Dewford Island, but, if there's a problem, ask for Steven," Mr. Stone says.
"Thanks, Mr. President," Mew says.
"We'll look out for him," Brock says.
May then says to Max, "Max?"
"Huh?" Max responds.
"Where's my PokéNav?" May says in shock.
Max becomes shocked, "Huh?!"
"I want to look something up about Dewford Island," May says and places her cup down, "Come on. Hand it over."
Max says and becomes worried, "Yeah, uh, okay."
"Don't worry May, we can use mine too," Mew says.
"Okay," May says.
Max soon felt a tap on his knee.
"Uh…" Max says and looks down, "Huh?"
What he found in Mr. Stone's hand was the PokéNav, all fixed.
"Uh... Hmm," Max responds.
Max takes the PokéNav from Mr. Stone while Pikachu and Eevee see the whole thing from under the table. The two look confused by it. Max takes out the PokéNav and activates it. He chuckles as it reveals the map to and location of Dewford Island.
"Here it is, Dewford Island! And it's not broken at all!" Max says.
"Broken?" May says, confused, but brushes her puzzlement off and laughs, "Thank you." She then takes and checks the PokéNav.
"Let me see,"Mew says, also checking hers.
Max turns to Mr. Stone softly says, "Thank you so much, sir."
"Don't mention it, Max," Mr. Stone says, softly.
As Max experienced his first adventure alone with his friends, the others learned of two mysterious new forces in the Hoenn region. Still, Mew and friends continue on, not knowing what other adventures and potential dangers await.
