Episode 35: Having a Wailord of a Time
A week left before the big Pokemon Contest in Slateport City. Trainers from all over are filled with anticipation as they perfect their techniques and make their final preparations. As the trainers prep and practice for the contest, Mew and the others watch.
"This is so exciting!" Max says.
"This last week really flew by," Brock says.
"Pika Pika," (I'll say they did.) Pikachu says.
"Next week today is the big day," Tomo says. Then turns to the girls, "May and Mew, you ready?"
May winks, "You bet we are! And there's one person in particular I can't wait to battle against."
May has a flashback to what happened just a week prior.
"Yeah!" May happily says.
May then turns to Brock, "Brock, take care of Torchic for me?"
"Uh…" Brock replies, unsure.
"Thanks," May says with a smile.
She then turns to Beautifly, "Come on, Beautifly. Boy, have we got work to do!"
May runs ahead with Beautifly behind her, leaving behind a sad Torchic.
"Torchic, just play with the others for a while!" May says.
And in no time, May has left to do some Contest training. As May and Beautifly leave, Max looks down at Torchic, concerned.
Soon, everyone is busy having lunch at the Pokemon Center. But Max isn't eating anything.
"Max, what's wrong?" Molly asks.
"Are you not hungry?" Jen asks.
"It's just that... It's not fair what May did to Torchic!" Max says, sounding upset.
"There's nothing wrong with Torchic, is there?" Tomo asks.
"I mean, well, May just spends all of her time with Beautifly now. And then she goes off and leaves Torchic alone just to practice with them. So I'm wondering whether or not May even likes Torchic anymore," Max says, upset.
But Mew says, "Of course she likes Torchic. Right, Brock?"
Brock: Yeah. I think May really loves Torchic," Brock says.
"How do you know?" Max asks, "You both seem so sure about it. After all, May has been super busy this past week, after everything that's been going on."
"I'll tell you why, it's because Torchic was May's very first Pokémon," Mew says.
"So? Why does that matter?" Max asks.
"Well, Torchic's the first one who really became sort of a partner to May," Brock says.
"I still don't see why that makes it so much more special," Max asks.
"Yeah, maybe this all sounds a bit weird to you cause you're still known for being a trainer," Mew says.
"Take your Zigzagoon for example. It's the very first Pokemon you got, right?" Brock asks.
"Um yes, I remember. It was the best day of my life," Max says, and turns to Zigzagoon, "Right Zigzagoon?"
Zigzagoon, who is eating, answers, "Zigzagoon!" (Sure is!) and nods.
"Yep. Your first Pokémon partner will always be special to you," Brock says.
Then Mew turns to her Pokemon, "And, of course, all of the Pokémon I catch are really special to me. But, I'm sure they already know that."
The Pokemon agree as Pikachu and Eevee run up to Mew, jumps onto her shoulder and nuzzles against her.
"Of course, Eevee is the first Pokemon friend I truly bonded with, and Pikachu is the first one I got from Professor Oak," Mew says, "Of course, Pikachu was difficult at first, refusing to get in his Pokeball, biting and zapping Professor Oak."
"Wow. Pikachu?" Max says, shocked.
"It's always a little bit hard when it's the first time for both the trainer and the Pokémon. But, that only makes it more meaningful when you finally gain the Pokémon's trust," Brock says.
"I see," Max says. Then turns to Brock, "So what was your first Pokémon, Brock?"
"Ah, yes. I remember it well. My first Pokémon. I had just woken up on my tenth birthday," Brock says.
Brock has a flashback to when he was a kid when a shadow looms over him. He wakes up and finds an Onix peeking out his window with a ribbon around its neck.
"Whoa! An Onix!" Young Brock says, surprised.
"Gaaroooooooarrr," (Hi.) Onix says.
Then Brock says, "Then I noticed my dad standing by my bed."
Onix carries both Brock and Flint out of the room on its head before the camera cuts to the three of them watching the sun rise.
Brock says, "He and I took a ride with Onix that morning up into the mountains and we watched the sunrise together. And that's when he said to me; 'From now on, this Onix will always be your partner. Happy birthday, son.'"
Flashback ends.
"That was great. It was my favorite birthday. I felt like I had earned my father's recognition for the first time," Brock says.
"His recognition?" Max asks.
"Wow. Sounds like your dad is far cooler than I thought he was when I first met him three years ago," Mew says.
Brock sweat drops, "I guess."
"So Onix was your first," Max says.
Max then turns to Jen, "Hey Jen, who is your first Pokemon?"
"That will be Amaura," Jen says.
"Really?" Max asks.
"Yes. I never told you or May the story, but I met Amaura a few years ago. My sister and I ended up getting shipwrecked and met a lot of Prehistoric Pokemon, I've especially bonded with Amaura and we were friends eversince," Jen says and hugs Amaura.
"That's a great story," Max says.
"Even though I caught a few Pokemon already, I wonder which Pokemon I could get when I officially become a trainer. A Torchic? Could be a Treecko. Or maybe a Mudkip."Come to think of it, I guess dad could give me just about anything."
Max then fantasizes his dad giving him a Slakoth.
"He could even give me something like a Slakoth," Max says to himself.
Fantasy ends with the Slakoth lying on top of him, hurting his back.
Max: I don't think I'd like that," Max says.
Nurse Joy walks by and is about to say something before Brock slides in and starts flirting.
"Uh, Nurse Joy? Do you need some help on your rounds today?" Brock asks.
Nurse Joy chuckles sheepishly, "No thanks, Brock. Say, do these Treecko, Torchic and Mudkip belong to you all?"
"What stunning Pokemon," Nurse Joy says.
"Thanks, Nurse Joy," Mew says.
"Well, you've all done a good job of raising them," Nurse Joy says.
Brock asks, flirting, "Beautiful and kind. It's such an honor to be praised by someone like you."
"Oh, well, that's sweet. But I have to go now because there's a new Pokemon trainer coming today. Before I can show her our Torchic, Treecko and Mudkip, I need to give them all a proper checkup," Nurse Joy says, nervously.
"That sounds like fun," Max says.
"It is fun, Max. I just hope they've been raised as well as these three have," Nurse Joy says.
"Nurse Joy, I'd be happy to give you a hand with the checkups so we can get to know each other better," Brock says.
"Oh. Well, maybe all of you could give me some help," Nurse Joy says.
Meanwhile, down at a beach, May is practicing diligently with Beautifly.
"Okay, Beautifly, let's practice our final move!" May says. She then calls out, "Beautifly, Silver Wind!"
Beautifly turns and launches the attack successfully.
"Alright. That wasn't bad, Beautifly," May says, "But when the judges are watching, you should make it last a bit longer. I know I'm pushing you hard, but I want us to win this Contest."
Beautifly confirms.
"Okay, once more!" May says.
Beautifly takes to the air. However, Beautifly stops when it spots something.
"What's the matter, Beautifly?" May asks.
May soon looks over to where Beauitfly is looking and they both see a beached Wailord)
"Oh no!" May cries out.
Meanwhile, the others were assisting Nurse Joy.
Brock: Wow! Just look at all this equipment!" Brock says, amazed.
"It's like a mini Pokemon Laboratory," Max says.
"You're right," Tomo says.
Then Nurse Joy explains, "Well, since there is no Pokemon laboratory in town, all trainers around town start their journeys here."
Soon, the checkup is finished
"All done. And Treecko, Torchic and Mudkip all seem to be in perfect health.," Then turns to the group, "Next, I'm gonna let them out of their Pokéballs so they can run around and get some exercise," And turns to the other Pokemon, "So maybe you older ones can teach them a thing or two?"
The three starters agree.
Nurse Joy then hands the Pokeballs to Max, "Here you go, Max. Could you let them out of their Pokéballs for me?"
"Really?" Max asks, excited.
"Nurse Joy smiles, "Yes, of course."
"I've always wanted to do this!" Max says, and takes the Pokeballs.
He then calls out, "Come out, Torchic!"
Torchic comes out, but looking mad before May's approaches it. Torchic turns away in a huff, but notices Mew, who smiles back at it. It eases Torchic up a bit. Then Torchic approaches Mew.
Mew kneels to Torchic and says, "Hi Torchic, it's nice to meet you."
Torchic smiles and nuzzles her leg a bit.
"Come on, Mudkip!" Max says, and lets out Mudkip.
But as soon as it gets out of the Pokeball, Mudkip begins crying, but Brock's Mudkip consoles it.
"Never thought I'd get to say this, but, Treecko, I choose you!" Max says, and lets Torchic out.
Treecko comes out, looking really sweet.
"Aww, that Treecko is cute," Molly says.
"It must be a girl, just like Tomo's," Jen says.
Suddenly, Nurse Joy gets a video call.
"Who could that be?" Nurse Joy asks.
Nurse Joy answers and sees that May was calling.
"Nurse Joy! Something terrible!" May says, worried.
"Tell me what happened," Nurse Joy says.
Then May explains, "There's a Wailord that washed up on the beach, and, I think it might be stuck."
Everyone is shocked at the news.
"Oh no!" Nurse Joy says, shocked.
"Wailord," Mew says, and brings out her Pokedex.
Dextette says, "Wailord, the Float Whale Pokemon. A Water Type. Wailord is the largest Pokemon on record. When coming out of the water in pursuit of its prey, it makes quite an impressive sight."
"Wow. It's the largest Pokemon," Molly says, amazed.
"Nurse Joy. Please come quickly," May says.
"Okay. I'm on my way," Nurse Joy says.
The call ends
Nurse Joy turns to the group, "Take care of these Pokemon while I'm gone. But don't let them leave this building, please. They're not used to being outdoors yet," and runs off.
And Brock says, "I think I should come with you, Nurse Joy. We really belong together!" and runs off.
Mew sighs, "Oh good grief."
Then turns to the others, "I think I better see if I can give them a hand, Pikachu, Eevee, you and the others stay and help Mx and the others watch the little ones," Mew says.
The Pokemon nod in response. Then Mew leaves soon after.
"I hope Wailord is okay," Molly says.
"Me too," Jen says.
Max looks at the starter Pokemon, "I can't believe I'm actually going to take care of some Pokemon. I feel almost like a real trainer."
"Well, we better just make sure that they don't get outside, okay, everyone?" Tomo says.
Everyone: Okay!" Everyone says.
However, unbeknownst to them, Team Rocket was listening in on them.
"Did you hear that?" Jessie asks, amazed.
"Yes. Most of the twerps are stuck babysitting some Pokemon. Big bummer for them," James says.
"I don't mean that. I was talking about the beached Wailord," Jessie angrily says.
"Oh, right, the Wailord that washed up on shore. Right," James sheepishly says.
And Jessie says, "Pokemon just don't come any bigger than that. I mean, forty-seven feet tall? Don't you think this could peak the boss' interest?"
"Yeah, dat might be right down his beach. You know how much da boss likes ta have anything dat's da biggest and da best?" Meowth says.
"That's true. He's pretty highbrow in that way," James says.
"Exactly!" Jessie happily says, "Now, we're off to capture Wailord, the world's biggest Pokemon, and no one will stand in our way!"
James and Meowth: That's/dat's right!" James and Meowth agree.
Team Rocket cheer, "A big Pokemon means a big promotion! Executives!"
"Woooobbuffet! ("Or, admins!") Wobbuffet says.
Meanwhile, inside the center, the Torchic begins to escape.
"Hey! Come back here!" Tommy calls out.
Max runs after the Torchic, "You can't go outside, Torchic! Remember what Nurse Joy told you?!"
Jen turns to the Pokemon, "Torchic, Mudkip, Treecko, I need some help. Come on!"
The three Pokemon follow, but so do the other Mudkip and Treecko.
The others follow while the escaping Torchic prevents May's Torchic from stopping it, then it attacks Brock's Mudkip before running off again.
"Stop, Torchic!" Max cries out.
"Help us out, guys!" Tomo calls out.
Pikachu, Eevee, and Skwovet block's the Torchic's path by making sparks fly.
However, the Torchic tries to make the three lower his guard with its cuteness before going on the attack with Ember, knocking them out of the way and continuing to run.
"Pikachu! Eevee! Skwovet!" Tomo cries out.
Treecko then leaps in and stops the escapee by landing in front of it and glaring at it, causing Torchic to back up.
"Good job, Treecko!"
The other two young starters were amazed as Max picked up the rebel Torchic
"Phew. Boy, that was a close one. Treecko, thank you. Way to go," Max says.
"Sure you got a hold of it?" Molly asks.
The Torchic pecks Max's hand, forcing him to painfully let go, allowing it to escape.
"No! It's getting away again!" Max cries out.
Corphish soon gets in front of the rogue Torchic, stopping it in its tracks.
"Now, Corphish, keep Torchic from leaving the building!" Jen calls out.
Corphish swings one of its claws but misses as the rogue Torchic jumps out of the way and starts scratching Corphish's face with its feet before escaping.
"Corphish!" Max cries out.
"That Torchic is a real fighter!" Jen says.
"Wait, Torchic!" Molly calls out.
The rogue Torchic keeps on running while Corphish burns with anger.
Soon enough, Tomo and the others chase down the rogue Torchic.
Max and Tomo call out, "Wait! Torchic! Stop!"
"Come back!" Jen calls out.
As everyone runs, the friendly Treecko puts a flower into her mouth, indicating that she was mimicking Mew's Treecko. The young, sad Mudkip trips and starts to cry, prompting Brock's Mudkip to console it, while Mew's Corphish charges up the hill they were all running up
"Corphish?" Molly says, shocked.
Corphish manages to land a strike on the rogue Torchic, but this doesn't keep it down long as the two angry Pokemon confront each other. Both charge and collide in a stalemate.
"Corphish, knock it off!" Tomo calls out.
"Torchic, stop it!" Jen calls out.
"Nurse Joy trusted us to take care of Torchic and if it gets hurt, she's gonna get mad at us!" Max says
However, Corphish gets knocked out.
"What happened?!" Max exclaims.
"I can't believe it's that strong!" Jen says.
"No kidding!" Tomo says.
The rogue Torchic shakes its tail in defiance and runs off just as Corphish sits up, more angry than previously before it gets back up and goes after it.
Meanwhile, back at the beach, the group was trying to keep the Wailord wet while also trying to get it back in the sea, with Mew, Brock, and Nurse Joy having arrived on the scene earlier.
"Is Wailord going to be okay?" May asks, worried.
Finishing her examination, Nurse Joy says, "There we go. Wailord's just fine."
"That's great," May says.
"Like watching poetry in motion," Brock says.
Mew sighs in relief, "Thank goodness."
"Wailord needs to rest for a while, but after that, it'll be as good as new," Nurse Joy says.
Meanwhile, Corphish and the rogue Torchic were battling again.
"Corphish, knock it off!" Jen calls out.
"Don't do that, Torchic!" Max shouts.
Everyone watches as Corphish prepares to strike again, only for the rogue Torchic to strike first with Ember, knocking Corphish out again.
"Wow. That Torchic is really tough," Molly says, shocked.
"Too tough," Tomo adds.
Suddenly, as Torchic jumps in victory, it starts to glow.
"Woah! What's that?!" Jen asks.
"Uh oh!" Tomo says.
"No way!" Molly adds.
"Don't tell me!" Max adds, shocked.
The rogue Torchic morphs until it grows bigger and taller and gains arms and a longer neck and three large feathers on its head until the glow fades to reveal a new Pokémon. A bipedal, chicken-like Pokémon. Most of Combusken's upper body is yellow, while most of the lower body is orange. An orange, pointed design adorns the center of its waist at the dividing line of the two colors. It has orange eyes and a short, wide beak. There is a feather crest on top of its head with three orange points. This crest is smaller on female Combusken. Its tail is short and pointed. It has three, sharp claws at the ends of its long arms, and scaly, gray legs with well-developed thighs covered in shaggy feathers.
Everyone screams in shock.
"It evolved into a Combusken!" Max says.
"A what?" Molly asks.
"Combusken. It's known as the Young Fowl Pokemon, the evolved form of Torchic. A Fire and Fighting Type. It has quick and powerful legs that are capable of dishing out ten kicks in a second.
"This is not good," Jen says.
"What do we do now?" Max asks.
"That new trainer is gonna want to pick up her new Pokémon and probably expect a Torchic, not a Combusken!" Tomo says.
A fantasy begins of that scenario
Nurse Joy says, "Now, tell me which Pokemon you'd like to have for your very first one."
"Okay," The trainer says.
The child looks at the Mudkip and Treecko, but screams when she sees the Combusken as the fantasy ends.
"Oh no!" Molly says.
"I think we're in trouble, guys," Tomo says.
But then Max has an idea, "I know! We can just swap out May's Torchic for the Combusken!"
"Are you kidding? That's a terrible idea?" Jen asks.
"Why?" Max asks.
"May is not stupid. I know how she's going to react," Jen says.
A fantasy begins of the scenario Max and Jen have in mind.
"Congratulations, May! Your Torchic evolved into a Combusken!" Max says.
May becomes furious, "Who are you kidding?! Do you think I'm some kind of idiot?! What have you two done with my Torchic?!"
Fantasy ends
"Jen's right. Bad plan," Tomo says.
"You're both right. She'll see right through that one," Max says.
"And then, what if the new trainer chooses May's Torchic instead of the other two starter Pokémon?" Jen says.
"We'd be in big trouble for sure," Molly says.
Then Tomo has an idea, "I know! We'll just make sure she chooses something else!"
"Uh, where is Combusken?" Molly asks.
The group soon notices that Combusken is gone.
Max sighs, "Looks like we'll have to go with Tomo's plan."
The others nod.
Later, at the Pokemon May was giving Beautifly a treat for all its training.
"You deserve that, Beautifly. You had a great practice session today," May says.
Max comes in holding a teacup, "I've got you a nice cup of tea, just for being such a wonderful sister," and sets it down as he finishes his sentence.
"Uh. Thank you, Max," May says, a little confused.
"Would you like anything else? Could I run out and get you a snack?" Max asks with a smile.
"No, I'm fine. But, why are you being so nice today, Max?" Max asks, confused.
This causes Max to worry, "Huh?" and sweat drops, "Well, I'm just looking after you the same way I always look after my favorite sister."
"I'm your only sister. May points out, "Whatever," and drinks her tea.
Meanwhile, Nurse Joy was helping a child pick her first Pokémon.
"So, Stephanie, all you need to do now is pick the one you want," Nurse Joy says.
"Okay. But it's so hard to choose," Stephanie says.
"The father says, "Don't rush it, just take your time."
"Just keep stalling her, Max. Don't let May come in here," Tomo says in thought.
Meanwhile, Combusken continues wandering around and soon reaches the beach area.
Then he hears a familiar voice, "Great job, Azumarill!"
Combusken turns to see Mew practicing for the Pokemon Contest with Azumarill.
"Now Azumarill, use Bubble Beam. And then use Aqua Ring!" Mew calls out.
Azumarill performs Bubble Beam and then uses Aqua Ring. That causes the powers to combine that the Bubbles of the Bubble Bean combine with the Aqua Ring and circle around like a ring. Then they explode in sparkles and show water.
"Good job, Azumarill," Mew says.
"Azumarill," (Thank you.) Azumarill says.
Suddenly, Combusken walks over as it says, "Combusken," (Great job.)
Mew and Azumarill turn to see Combusken walking over.
"A Combusken?" Mew says, confused.
Combusken says, "Comb Combusken," (Hi again, remember me.)
"Remember…?" Mew questions.
Mew looks at Combusken very carefully, and soon realizes, "Hold on, I do know you. Aren't you the Trochic from the Pokemon Center earlier?"
"Combusken," (Sure am.) Combusken says.
"No way, you actually evolved this soon? But I only saw you a little while ago, and you were expected to meet a new trainer," Mew says, shocked.
Combusken then begins to explain the situation.
Mew translates, "Oh, so you wanted to go out and find me, but Tomo and the others got in the way," she becomes shocked, "Wait, you beat up my Corphish? Twice?!" Combuksen nods.
Then continues on as Mew translates, "So after beating my Corphish into knockout, you evolved and ran away. And you end up finding me and Azumarill, practicing."
Combusken nods in response.
"Well, I don't know if I should be shocked, or impressed. I have to admit that, you're one tough cookie," Mew says.
"Comb Combusken," (Thank you.) Combusken says. "Comb Comb Combusken." (And what you and Azumarill did was cool)
"Thank you," Mew says, "But I think it's a good idea for us to head back to the Pokemon Center. Nurse Joy would want an explanation as to what happened."
Azumarill and Combusken nod their heads in response.
Back in the Pokemon Center, Stephanie is trying to decide.
Stephanie turns to Mudkip, "Maybe I'll choose Mudkip."
Jen happily says, "Tell you what, Stephanie. Mudkip's a great choice. You'll never find a Pokemon better than a Mudkip."
But then Stephanie says, "But I like Treecko, too."
Then Tomo says, "Ah, Treecko. A fine choice, and it happens to be a favorite of some of us here. They say grass types are simple for beginners."
Then Stephanie turns to Torchic, "I choose this one."
"Well, you might need to rethink it," Tomo says.
"Huh?" Stephanie says, confused.
"Well you see, Fire Type Pokemon can become hard to handle for a new trainer as they grow and evolve. That's why local Pokemon professors recommend grass and water as good starter types," Jen says..
Confused, Brock asks, "Guys, are you feeling alright?"
The three just freeze, thinking Brock might be on to them.
Meanwhile, May finishes her tea.
"Looks like you're pretty thirsty there, May. Let me get you some more. Be right back," Max says.
"I'm fine," May says. She then asks, "Where's Torchic?"
"What? What Torchic?" Max questions and sweat drops, "Oh, I see. I thought you said something else. Torchic's outside."
"Really? I'll go out and find it then," May asks.
Max soon blocks the path as May gets up to leave, "Wait! Stop right there!"
"What is wrong with you?" May asks.
"I just thought we could all just hang out for a while," Max says.
But May is not amused, "Something's up. You're acting weird."
"What do you mean by that?" Max asks, sweating drops.
"Did something happen to my Torchic, Max? Tell me right now! Come on, out with it!" May demands.
Meanwhile, Stephanie is still having a hard time deciding.
"Oh. I just can't decide," Stephanie says.
"Hey, we can help you out with that," Tomo says
"You gotta choose Mudkip or Treecko," Jen says.
"There is no other choice," Molly adds.
Stephanie's father says, "I don't know. All of those Pokemon look intriguing to me."
That's when May comes through the door, "Hey!"
That catches everyone off guard.
Tomo sheepishly says, "Uh, hi, May."
Torchic happily hops into May's arms.
"Torchic! I found you!" May happily says.
She then turns to the others, "Alright guys, you better start telling me what's going on?"
"Sorry, guys. She got away from me," Max says.
"What plan?" Brock says, confused. Then turns to Tomo, "Tomo, is there something you and the girls want to tell us?"
"Well uh, you see," Molly says.
Jen then sighs, "We might as well come clean."
"Yeah," Tomo says.
"Come clean?" Brock asks.
"What is going on?" Nurse Joy asks.
Then Jen apologizes, "We're sorry Nurse Joy, we didn't mean for it to happen."
"You see, the Torchic you had set up for the new trainer was a real spitfire, and it ran away," Tomo says.
"And really beat up our Pokemon, especially Corphish," Jen says.
"And because of that it evolved into Combusken and ran away," Molly says.
"Yeah. So we used May's Torchic as a decoy and tried to get the trainer to choose either Mudkip or Treecko," Max says.
Brock and Nurse Joy are both surprised.
Suddenly, before anyone could say anything else, they heard the sound of a Wailord before looking out the window and finding the beached Wailord being carried away in a sling.
"It's that Wailord!" May says, shocked.
"But why is someone moving it away from the sea?" Nurse Joy asks.
Meanwhile, it's revealed that Team Rocket was carrying the Wailord away.
"Carry on. Full speed ahead," Jessie says.
"Large Pokémon? Not a problem, thanks to our new engine enhancement," James says.
"Dat won't be all dat'll be enhanced when da boss sees dis!" Meowth says.
Suddenly, Tomo's voice calls out, "Hey!"
Team Rocket looks down and sees our heroes on the cliff.
"Put that Wailord down, now!" Nurse Joy demands.
And with that, Team Rocket performs the motto.
Jessie:
Prepare for trouble because we're hauling close to a ton!
James:
Make it double with our Carry-All Mark One!
Jessie:
To protect the world from devastation.
James:
To unite all peoples within our nation.
Jessie:
To denounce the evils of truth and love.
James:
To extend our reach to the stars above.
Jessie:
Jessie.
James:
James.
Jessie:
Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light.
James:
Surrender now or prepare to fight, fight, fight!
Meowth:
Meowth! Dat's right!
Wobbuffet:
Wobbu Wobbuffet! (For the three hundred-eighth time!)
"It's Team Rocket again!" Tomo shouts.
Nurse Joy tries to reason with them, "Please! Wailord is sick and weak! You have to let it back into the ocean right away!"
"Maybe you curled those bangs a little tight," Jessie says.
"There's no way we're unloading this priceless package!" James says.
"We'll get promoted and become either admins or executives, and get a raise," Team Rocket says.
"That's that!" James says.
"Got a delivery to make!" Meowth says.
"Oh, no you don't!" Tomo says.
Suddenly, someone shouts, "Combusken, use Flamethrower!"
Soon, a Flamethrower is fired from out of nowhere that heats up the engine enhancer on Team Rocket's balloon.
Team Rocket panics, "Hot! Hot Hot!"
Everyone turns to see Mew running over Azumarill, and Combusken.
"Hey guys!" Mew calls out.
"It's Ashley!" May says.
"And Combusken is with her!" Jen says.
"Now Azumarill, use Swift!" Mew calls out.
Azumarill performs the attack which cuts the rope, allowing Wailord to drop into the sea with a thunderous splash. The sudden release causes Team Rocket to go flying upwards.
"Team Rocket's blasting off again!" Team rocket cries out.
"Wobbuffet!" (Way too soon!) Wobbuffet cries out.
Then, they suddenly come back down.
"Hey, maybe we spoke too soon!" Meowth panics.
Then Mew calls out, "Pikachu, use Thunderbolt! Eevee, use Swift! Azumarill, use Water Gun! Combusken, use Flamethrower!"
All four attacks fire at Team Rocket's balloon.
"I forgot! Da Carry-All don't come with insulation! It was optional!" Meowth cries out.
Right as Meowth finishes his sentence, the balloon explodes sending Team Rocket flying
"It pays to have protection!" Team Rocket cries out.
"Wobbuffet!" (Not again!) Wobbuffet cries out.
"Great work, Ashley!" Brock says.
"Thanks," Mew says.
"Well, that was most impressive," Stephanie's father says.
"It was just awesome. And I want to become a great Pokémon trainer like you are, Ashley," Stephanie says.
"Thank you," Mew says.
"A truly stunning performance," Stephanie's father says, impressed, "Itmade me truly realize for the first time just how wonderful Pokémon are."
Nurse Joy turns to Stephanie, "So, have you had time to think about which Pokémon you'd like? Though, I don't think Combusken's a good idea for a beginner."
"That's fine," Stephanie says, "I've decided to choose Mudkip."
The Mudkip was pleased, but the Treecko seemed disappointed as tears formed in her eyes. However, Stephanie's father saw those eyes and instantly fell for the Treecko.
Stephanie notices her father, "What is it, daddy?"
Treecko, I know you're upset right now, but everything's gonna work out,' Max says to Treecko.
But then Stephanie's father says, "I would like to take Treecko!"
The Treecko seemed very pleased, whilst the others were confused.
"Daddy?" Stephanie replies, confused.
Then her father says, "This is quite odd. I'm not exactly sure what just came over me, Steph. It's really cute," Then turns to Nurse Joy, "Nurse Joy, I hope I'm not too old to become a Pokemon trainer like my daughter."
"Of course not," Nurse says.
"That's good. I want to become this Treecko's partner,' Stephanie's father says.
Both father and daughter pick up their new Pokémon.
"We'll be great pals," The father says.
Stephanie happily says, "Us, too, Mudkip. Best of friends."
"That's so cool. Treecko, and Mudkip, both found new trainers," Max happily says.
Then Jen turns to Combusken, "But Combusken didn't get picked."
"We're sorry. Corphish made you evolve so you didn't get picked," Molly says.
Combusken walks over to Mew and gives her a smile. Mew looks to see Combusken and can't help but smile as well.
"You know, you really did great there. From what you explained and what I've seen, you're strong, and quite the spitfire," Mew says.
She then turns to Nurse Joy, "Nurse Joy, is it alright if I can let Combusken be with me and my Pokemon."
This makes everyone surprised, but Combusken seems happy.
Nurse Joy smiles, "Of course, from what I see, even as Torchic, it seems to taken a fond to you."
"Yeah. and after getting to know each other, I knew I can train Combusken the best he could," Mew says.
Then turns to Combusken, "Combusken, I definitely choose you to be one of my Pokemon, that is, if you're okay with choosing me."
Combusken smiles and nods, "Combusken." (I sure do.)
And hugs Mew, Mew hugs it back.
"I'm so glad Combusken. I promise we'll do great together,' Mew says.
Everyone smiles to see that Combusken has a new trainer after all, despite having evolved. And with Mew being his trainer, Combusken will have a good adventure. And Treecko and Mudkip will have a grand time with their new trainer and new home. Of course, there's just one thing on Max's mind.
"The very first Pokemon. Well…" Max says and runs to the edge of the cliff and stops, "Hey, out there! Whoever's my first Pokemon, I'll be waiting for you!" And soon, the Wailord shoots water out of its blowhole.
