Pokemon: Jirachi: Wish Maker Part 1
One night, there are two people who are examining a giant rock with some kind of equipment before the equipment explodes and reveals some sort of crystal. The man picks up the crystal he found and holds it up as green energy pulses throughout the cave. Whatever the crystal is and what the reason behind it, the man plans to use it to make his wish come true.
Time has passed, on one dark night, Mew and her friends are traveling late in the night for a special event.
"So, where's the Millennium Comet anyway?" May asks.
"It won't appear for another 23 hours and 42 minutes," Max answers.
"Know-it-alls," May replies, annoyed.
Resetting on Mew's back, Molly yawns and asks, "Are we there yet?"
"Yeah? Are we getting close to where the festival's at?" Tomo asks.
"We're almost there, Molly," Mew says.
"Mew's right. It should be in that valley up ahead," Brock says, looking at the guide book.
"Well, then, I want to get the first look!" Tomo says and runs ahead, "Last one there's a Slowpoke!"
Meloetta and Skwovet follow.
"Not unless we get there first," Jen says and runs after him with Amaura.
"Guess that means, Max, you're a Slowbro!" Jen says, and runs after them.
Mew laughs and runs after them, carrying Molly, "Good one, May!"
"Very funny, sis!" Max says.
"Hey! I don't want to be the Slowpoke!" Brock calls out as he follows behind.
Everyone follows behind before they arrive at the valley, but find nothing.
"Not much of a party," Max says.
May turns to Brock, "Are you sure this is it?"
"This is the spot," Brock says.
"Where is everybody?" Tomo asks.
"Maybe we're early," Jen says.
"That's possible," Mew says.
Tomo turns to Mew, "Hey can we eat? I'm hungry."
"Me, too," Max says.
"Me too," Jen says.
Not long, Mew and the others are having dinner.
Truth be told, Mew and the others are taking a detour from their journey to witness what few get to see, the Millennium Comet, which appears for only seven nights once every thousand years. They had hoped to take part in the Millennium Festival, but their true role in the legend of the comet will be far greater than they could have ever dreamed.
Time has passed, and the group are sleeping for the night until the festival comes.
But then, vehicles come rolling down in the valley, and Pikachu and Eevee quickly hear them coming before Mew does, too. As the vehicles get closer and closer to the valley, the rest of the gang hears them as well and wake up from their sleep. They rush to the overlook and see that the vehicles are trucks carrying in the rides and attractions for the festival.
Soon, the trucks come to a stop and the people climb out to get the festival set up. They turn on the lights, the rides, and other attractions. Mew and the others come down into the valley and watch the festival being set up. The balloons inflate, rides being put together by the workers. Mew and the others soon see more trucks arriving.
Coming out of one of them is a man with purple hair arrives, revealing himself to be a magician as he makes a cane appear from a handkerchief and then makes his case open to allow giant pink orbs to rise and move about at his command.
Then, a blonde haired woman with giant red fans walks out of the other truck and gently sends the orbs about in different directions, amazing the group of friends before the orbs bop around into a circle and pop to reveal wooden boxes that are connected by a track or pipes of some sort before the wood of the boxes drop down to make a wooden circle before the whole thing transforms into a structure for a tent. Construction goes on into the morning as railroad tracks are laid down to allow a train to enter the festival grounds as the camera shows the Millennium Festival up and ready for the masses.
And today is the first day of the Millennium Festival, and tonight is the first day of the comet. Of course, Mew and the others are going to have some fun. All of them are riding on the bumper cars.
Max bumps into Tomo, "Got ya!"
"Hey! Come back here!" Tomo calls out.
"Wait up!" Max says.
Brock then pulls up next to a girl, "Excuse me. How about we share a ride that's built for two?"
But as Brock finishes his sentence, he ends up driving into the wall.
Meanwhile, some familiar sounding clowns were handing out posters advertising a magic show. Turns out, the mysterious clowns are really Team Rocket
"This is the best job ever!" James says.
"We just have to throw around paper," Jessie says.
"And clean manoor, whatever dat is!" Meowth says.
"How bad could it be?" Jessie asks.
Soon, the three come to a stop in shock. That's because Mew and the others are at the festival.
"Hey guys, check this out," Mew says and picks up the poster.
The threesome, indicating that they're really Team Rocket, hide while Mew and the others look at the poster and enjoy their treats
"So? What is it?" May asks.
Max recognizes him, "Hey, that looks like the magician we saw last night."
"You're right!" Brock says.
Jen looks at the poster, "It says he calls himself, The Great Butler."
"If what we saw last night is how The Great Butler builds his tent, then I can't wait to see his show!" Mew says.
"Yeah!" Moll happily says.
Later, at Butler's tent, the show is underway as he proceeds to make several Swablu fly out of his hat, astonishing Mew, her friends, and the rest of the audience
Jessie and James soon wheel something in for Butler's next trick. The great magician places his hat on the platform, waves his cane, and from underneath the hat, a Kirlia magically comes out to the crowd's applause. While a Mightyena takes Butler's hat away, the magician closes up a box around the Kirlia before magically transforming his cane into a red blanket and proceeding to cover the box with it.
Suddenly, Butler makes his cane magically appear from his hands before one end is set on fire. Next thing they know, Butler lights the blanket on fire, to the shock of the entire audience, before it goes up in smoke. But when the smoke clears, Butler's assistant appears holding the crystal found earlier at the start of the movie, amazing the audience.
"Whoa! What a trick!" Brock calls out, amazed.
"So cool!" Tomo says.
The assistant lifts the crystal up over her head and it starts glowing brightly.
But while the group is mesmerized, Max hears something coming from the crystal, "Wish. The star."
"Huh?" Max says, confused.
The glow soon fades away and the crowd applause and cheers.
"Making beautiful women appear magically from thin air! I've finally found a career for me!" Brock says.
"Oh brother," Jen says.
Butler helps his assistant down from her platform before they stand next to each other on the stage.
Butler says, "You're too kind. For me, the real magic is when I hear your applause. Thank you very much. I'm known as The Great Butler!" And bows before the audience applauds, "And this is my assistant, Diane!"
Diane gently bows while the crowd applauds as Butler turns to the Mightyena who took his hat.
"I couldn't do the show without Mightyena!" Butler says.
Mightyena howls in response as the crowd applauds just before Kirlia comes out from under the hat.
"And Kirlia!" Butler says.
The crowd applauds as Kirlia tosses the hat onto Mightyena's head before bowing.
But as for Max, he heard the same voice again, "Wish Maker. The comet."
"The comet?" Max says to himself.
Max looks up to the top of the tent before standing up.
Max asks, "Where are you?"
He then looks down to the stage and sees the light coming from the crystal.
"I wish you were here. With me," The voice continues.
"You're, in there?" Max questions.
And without a second thought, Max rushes down the stairs and towards the stage.
"Max!" Mew calls out and hands her bucket of popcorn to May.
Then Mew rushes down with Pikachu and Eevee to get Max.
Max soon comes up on the stage.
Diane notices him and says, "Hey. You have to get back to your seat."
"Sorry, but I thought I heard a voice," Max says.
Both Butler and Diane look to the crystal in surprise before Butler nods.
"Max!" Mew calls out as she runs up onto the stage.
She turns to Butler and Diane, "Sorry about my friend."
Then kneels to Max, "Max, what happened?"
"Wait," Max says.
But Butler announces, "Ladies and gentlemen, it seems we have some unexpected volunteers to help us with our next trick!" Then turns to Max and Mew, "Young lady and gentleman, you must be in show business because your timing is impeccable!"
"Fellow magicians, what are your names?" Diane asks.
"My name is Ashley," Mew answers.
"I'm Max, the Great," Max says.
Pikachu and Eevee also introduce themselves.
"Then let's do it!" Butler says.
Soon, Jessie and James wheel in a box.
"Since you're obviously great magicians, feast your eyes on Butler's burning box! You must simply escape the box before it bursts into flames!" Butler says.
"Burning box?" Mew questions.
"Pika?" (For real?) Pikachu says.
"That's your cue," Diane says.
"But, Diane, we're not really magicians," Max says.
Jessie and James proceed to escort the two towards the box.
"Yeah, yeah, sure. And we're not really clowns," Jessie says.
Up in the audience, the others watch on.
"It's just not fair that Max and Ashley get to be in the show, and I don't!" May says.
"You said it! If there's anyone who should be sharing the same stage as Diane, it's me!" Brock says, in tears.
Molly covers her eyes, "I don't think I can watch."
"Don't worry, I'm sure they're not going to get burned," Jen reassures.
Mew and Max soon sit inside the box as it is closed up.
Butler then calls out, "Dusclops, step forward!"
As Jessie and James spin the box around, Dusclops, comes out on stage. Dusclops is a Pokémon with a roundish gray body with two stubby legs. Its body is hollow and wrapped in bandages. It has a single red eye and three tooth-like projections. The red eye is said to be the true form of Dusclops, but no one has yet to see this claim. It has two wispy, light gray growths coming out of its shoulders and one on top of its head. Its light gray hands are almost always depicted as being directly attached to its body.
Then Butler says, "Real magicians like Ashelu and Max should have no trouble easily escaping from a box like this! So, to make it interesting, they only have ten seconds till Dusclops destroys it with his Hyper Beam!"
As Butler talks, Jessie and James prance off the stage. Soon, two spotlights come down on the box and on Dusclops.
Butler begins the countdown, "Ten!"
As Butler begins to count down, up in the rafters, Meowth mans a spotlight and sees what's going on.
"Ooh. Dey're stuck in a dark place with impending doom and no way out. Dat sounds like my life," Meowth says.
Inside the box, the boys ponder a way to escape.
"How are we supposed to get out?" Mew asks.
"I don't know, Mew, must be some trick, I hope, or this could end bad," Max says.
"Maybe I can use my Pokemon to get us out of this," Mew says.
Outside, Dusclops charges its Hyper Beam.
Butler continues counting, "Four! Three!
Up in the grandstands, the others are on the edge of their seats.
"Two!" Butler continues
"One! Dusclops, Hyper Beam!" Butler calls out.
And Dusclops fires the attack.
In the box, Mew and Max suddenly drop down through a trap door as the attack seemingly destroys the box while Mew and Max are wheeled away under the stage on a cart. Outside, bouquets of flowers come down on the audience before Mew and Max's ride comes to a stop and takes them up. Outside, the smoke clears, the box is revealed to be opened and the crowd is cheering
"Not only did they escape from the box just in time, but they made bouquets of flowers appear as well!" Butler announces.
As Butler talks, Mew and Max find themselves at the top of the stairs
"Let's thank those amazing magicians, Ashley, Pikachu, Eevee and Max the Great!" Butler says.
Butler and Diane point towards the top of the stairs before the lights come down on the two boys and Pikachu as the audience applauds.
Mew says, "Thank you!"
Even Pikachu and Eevee say 'Thank you'
Back in the audience, May and the others applaud.
"Think they'll tell us how they did it?" May asks.
"Do you think they'll introduce me to that girl, Diane?" Brock asks.
Mew takes in the applause, only for two mechanical arms to grab Pikachu and Eevee from behind.
Mew quickly notices, "Pikachu! Eevee!"
The rest of the group witness what has happened and look up to see Team Rocket in their clown costumes making their move.
"Now that's magic!" Jessie says.
Pikachu and Eevee try to use their attacks to break free, but to no avail.
"Give it up. Your thunder power won't work in our zap trap!" James says.
The two clowns soon remove their disguises
Jessie and James say, "And now, on with the show!
Mew shouts, "Team Rocket! Give me back my Pikachu and Eevee!
But James ignores her and says, "Ladies and gentlemen…"
"For our final trick of the evening, we're going to make all the Pokémon, disappear!" Jessie says.
And soon, Mightyena and Kirlia are revealed to have been captured as well.
"Dis is da best part of da show!" Meowth says, and flips a switch as he speaks
Soon, the roof of the tent opens before Meowth hops aboard his teammates' getaway transport while they chuckle and laugh in triumph.
"So, who's da clowns now?" Meowth calls out.
"You can keep our salary!" James says.
"We'll take our pay in Pokémon!" Jessie adds.
"No!" Brock cries out.
"Oh no!" May says.
"We gotta stop them!" Jen adds.
Mew then says, "I'll get em!"
Butler suddenly steps in, "I'll do it!"
Mew and Max look to Butler in bewilderment.
Then Butler announces, "Behold! We have one final performance as our encore!" and calls out, "Now, Dusclops, Will-O-Wisp!"
Dusclops creates a blue ball of fire and launches it at Team Rocket. It promptly hits and causes one of the ropes holding up the bar the threesome is standing on to break, causing them to drop Pikachu and Eevee while they go free and fall towards the ground.
Mew calls out, "Pikachu! Eevee!" and manages to catch them.
Then Mew says, "Let's have an encore of our own!"
Pikachu and Eevee launch a Thunderbolt, shocking Team Rocket while also causing the net holding Mightyena and Kirlia to drop down before they land safely on the stairs.
"No magic show would be complete without a vanishing act, and so we save the best for last!" Butler says.
Then calls out, "Dusclops, use Night Shade!"
Dusclops fires the attack and sends the blimp skyward.
"Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!" Team Rocket cries out.
The audience applauds once more
"Everyone thinks that Team Rocket was part of the show," May says.
"Yeah, but they won't be back for a curtain call," Brock says.
Up on the stage, Butler, Diane and Kirlia take a bow and Dusclops waves while the two laugh as they, Eevee, Pikachu and Mightyena take in the applause. Max soon looks at the crystal once more.
Sometime later, the festival continues on. In the tent, Mew and the others talk to Butler and Diane about the voice Max has heard earlier.
"Jirachi?" mew questions.
Butler nods and says, "According to the legend, Jirachi is a very special Pokémon that awakens just once every thousand years," And looks down towards the crysta, "I think, it's sleeping right inside here."
"So Jirachi is sleeping in the crystal?" Molly asks.
"It's like a cocoon," Brock says.
"Awesome!" Tomo says.
"That's amazing!" May says.
Then Butler says, "It is said that in order to awaken from its slumber, Jirachi needs two things to happen."
"What's that?" Jen asks.
"The Millennium Comet must be visible in the night sky, and Jirachi must find itself a friend," Butler answers.
"So, it needs a friend?" Max asks.
"Is that why it was talking to Max?" May asks.
"So now all we need is the Millennium Comet," Mew says.
"And that's tonight,' Brock adds.
Looking at the crystal, Max says, "Hello, Jirachi.
May quietly says to the others, "First Max was hearing things and now he's made friends with a big rock."
Max turns to May, "Cut it out! You're just jealous that Jirachi chose me to talk to as its friend instead of you!"
Then Butler says, "They also say Jirachi has the power to grant wishes," And turns to Max, "But it can't do anything without first having you as its friend."
"Okay, I'll do it!" Max says.
"Max, meet Jirachi," Butler says, presenting the crystal to him.
"How do you do?" Max says and takes the crystal.
"Wow," Max says, and asks "Max, can I see what it feels like?"
Max just holds the crystal away from her.
"Let me see!" May says
"I thought it was crazy to be friends with a rock," Max says.
Realizing that Max is right, May sheepishly says, "Yeah, well, I was just kidding. Please, let me just hold it."
"No way!" Max says, and runs off.
"Hey! Get back here!" May calls out and runs after him.
Max calls out, "I can't hear you!"
And May shouts, "I said I was sorry!"
Mew and the others giggle to see the two siblings bickering again. Diane however, has a very concerned expression.
Later that evening, the lights had come up around the festival grounds as day gave way to evening while the patrons continued to wander, explore and have fun at the festival. Mew and the others are doing the same.
May soon notices, "Wow, look at this!"
"What is it, May?" Mew asks.
It's revealed that May is at a stand selling different trinkets, with one of them catching May's eye
"You have excellent taste, young lady. That's a wishing star," The vendor says.
"A wishing star?" May questions
"It works with the Millennium Comet. On each of the seven nights that the comet appears, all you have to do is fold down one of the sections and make a wish. If you do it all seven nights, then your wish will come true," The vendor explains.
Excited, Mew says, "Wow! I'll take it!"
Soon, Pokémon fireworks are seen going up over the festival.
"Whoa. Would you look at that," The vendor says, "Won't be long before the comet appears."
Max turns to the crystal, "Can you see that, Jirachi? Fireworks!"
Later on, Mew and the others are outside the festival grounds, looking up at the night sky.
"It's getting cloudy," Mew notices.
"We may not be able to see the comet tonight," Brock says.
"No fair," May says.
"Aww," Molly says, disappointed.
Max turns to the crystal, "You and I are going to be great friends, Jirachi," and hugs Jirachi's cocoon.
Mew looks to Pikachu and Eevee, approvingly.
"Pikachu." (They're like us.) Pikachu says.
Mew and Eevee agree.
Soon, the lights of the festival go out and the Ferris wheel comes to a stop while the clouds part to reveal a light shining above.
Pikachu and Eevee hop onto Mew's shoulder to get a better look.
Soon, the clouds part to reveal the comet itself.
"The Millennium Comet! Right on schedule!" Brock says.
"Wow!" Jen says.
"So cool!" Tomo says.
Then May says, "I better make my wish," She then takes out her wishing star and folds down the one-star pieces.
"Once every thousand years," Mew says.
"We're so lucky," May says.
"It's been a long time since anyone looked up into the sky and saw the Millennium Comet," Brock says.
"Hmm, I wonder how different the world looks from way up there," Tomo says.
Then Brock says, "A lot has changed in the past thousand years."
"And a lot hasn't," May adds.
She then looks down and sees Max had fallen asleep with the crystal next to him.
May then hops down from the rock she was sitting on.
She softly says to him, "Night, Max," And strokes his head.
Soon, mutters in his sleep, "Mommy."
Soon, May starts humming a song to her little brother. Mew and the others listen to May singing.
"That's a lullaby our mother always sang," May says. She then climbs up back on the rock and continues to sing the lullaby.
Suddenly, the crystal glows once more, gaining everyone's attention, even waking Max from his sleep.
And the voice says, "The star! The star is calling!"
"You hear that?" Tomo asks.
"I did," Mew says.
"Was that Jirachi's voice?" May asks.
"I think so,'" Jen says
"It's telepathy!" Brock says.
Back in the cave where Jirachi was found, green waves of energy pulse throughout. But up above the crevice leading into the cave, an Absol watches before it leaps towards the cause of the energy.
All the while, the green energy waves convey towards the crystal before it begins to levitate and, before the astonished eyes of Mew and the others it morphs into Jirachi before it slowly floats down, prompting Max to catch it before it wakes up.
Jirachi is a small, white, humanoid Pokémon. It has short, stubby legs and comparatively longer arms. There are flaps on the underside of its arms, which give the impression of long sleeves. On its belly is a curved seam. Additionally, Jirachi has a normal pair of ovalish eyes on its face, with small, blue triangular markings underneath. On its head is a large, yellow structure with three points extending outward: one from the top and one on either side. On each point is a teal tag. A rounded extension hangs from either side of the yellow structure, framing Jirachi's face. Two yellow streamers flow from Jirachi's back, resembling comet tails.
"Jirachi," Max says.
"It's true," Molly says.
"It's so cute!" Jen says.
"You're right," May says.
Then Max introduces himself, "Hi. I'm Max."
Using telepathy, Jirachi says, "Hello, Max."
"I'm Ashely, and these are my friends, Pikachu and Eevee," Mew says.
"And my name's May," May says.
"I'm Tomo, and this is Meloetta and Skwovet," Tomo says.
"I'm Jen and this is my pal, Amaura," Jen says.
"I'm Molly, it's nice to meet you,' Molly says.
And Brock says, "I'm Brock. Nice to meet you."
Jirachi then says, "Hello, Ashley, Pikachu, Eevee, May, Tomo, Meloetta, Skwovet, Jen, Amaura, Molly, Brock. It's nice to meet you all."
Diane soon runs up, surprised at what she sees.
"Diane, it's Jirachi! It woke up!" Max says.
Seeing Jirachi, Dianae says, "I'll go tell Butler the good news. Meanwhile, some of you guys can camp out in our bus tonight," And runs off to tell Butler.
"Thanks!" Brock says.
Meanwhile, in the show tent, Butler gets a view of the Millennium Comet up above by opening the top before Diane runs in.
Diane tells Butler, "It was true."
"I knew it!" Butler says, "Jirachi will be the star, of our greatest show!"
From under the stage, multiple machines arise.
"I have waited forever for this day," Butler says.
Diane seemed unsure of whether what Butler planned was the right thing or not.
