Episode 42: What You Seed is What You Get!

After earning the Dynamo Badge from Mauville City, Mew and her friends are now leaving the Pokemon Center to get to the next location.

"Alright everyone, it's time we make our way to the next town," Mew says.

"Hey Mew, what's the name of the next town we're going to?" Molly asks.

Mew checks her Pokenav and says, "According to this, the next town that has a gym is Lavaridge Town."

"Wait, Nurse Joy said the next Pokémon Contest is in Fallarbor Town," May says.

"Fallarbor Town, huh," Mew says.

Max then brings out the Pokenav, "Maybe if we can figure out where both towns are, we can figure out where to go next."

"Well, it's best we got to Fallarbor Town first. Unlike the gym, the contest goes from town to town," Mew says.

"You make a valid point, Mew," May says, "I don't want to miss my contest."

"Hey, it looks like we can do both," Max says.

"Really?" Jen asks

Max says, "Those two are almost right next to each other."

"According to the map, we're closer to Fallarbor Town," Mew says..

"Great. We can go to Fallarbor Town for the contest first, and then go to Lavaridge Town for the gym," Brock says.

"Sounds like a good plan to me," May says.

"Then let's go," Jen says.

"And look out, Fallarbor!" May says.

Elsewhere, Team Rocket was searching for Mew and the group.

"Not a trace of those twerps. How could we have lost them?" Jessie says.

"Gone," James says.

"And in da blink of an eye," Meowth says.

"Just two days ago we blew another chance to capture Pikachu and Eevee," Jessie says.

"And worse yet, we're all hungry," James replies.

"No kidding. If we don't find a nibble here pretty quick, I'm gonna waste away ta nothing but bones," Meowth says.

He then spots something, "Check it out!"

What they see was a field of watermelons

"There's more here than just a nibble! It's a whole watermelon patch!" Jessie happily says.

Team Rocket cheers, "Yay!" and each grabs a watermelon.

"These things are as ripe and as roly-poly as they're gonna get!" James says.

"I ain't nevah been so happy to be wit someting more fruity!" Meowth says.

"Dive on in!" Jessie happily says, and dives in

James agrees, "Right behind you!"

"Don't forget me!" Meowth says.

The three grab some of the watermelons, "Bon Appétit!"

But they soon see a much larger watermelon.

"Could dat be?!" Meowth asks, surprised.

"One big Wailmer of a watermelon?" James says, shocked.

Jessie happily says, "Looks good to me. I'll take it over these dinky things any day," And tosses the two melons away.

But just then, she sees that the giant watermelon starts to move.

"Look at that! It's rolling over here to serve itself to us! Come to me, you great big ball of juicy deliciousness!" Jessie says with a big smile.

However, it turns out that the giant watermelon was really an Electrode painted to look like a watermelon.

"Uh oh," Jessie says, worried.

"Hold on," James says.

"Dat ting's an…" Meowth says, worried.

And all three panic, "Electrode!"

"Wobbu Wobbu!" (And a big one!) Wobbuffet says.

Electrode suddenly darts forward in a Rollout and sends Team Rocket flying in one shot before they drop their watermelons.

"Talk about your forbidden fruit!" Meowth cries out.

"Wobbuffet!" (We're blasting off!) Wobbuffet says.

The three watermelons soon fall into a river below.

Meanwhile, Mew and the others are having lunch.

Meanwhile, our heroes had just finished lunch)

"Wow, that was another awesome lunch, Brock," Mew says.

The Pokemon agree.

Brock chuckles with a smile, "Our pleasure, guys."

"Well, the cooking combined with the view from here makes this the perfect picnic location," May says.

"Yeah, you're right, May," Max says.

But then, Jen notices something, "Wait, what's that?"

Everyone looks toward the river.

"There's something floating in the river in our direction," Mew says.

"Watermelons?" Brock questions.

In no time, the watermelons are fished out of the river.

Brock then pats on the watermelon, "I can tell by the sound they make that these things are ripe and sweet and juicy inside,"

"They should look like it," Tomo says.

"Hmm, what are watermelons doing in the river?" Mew wonders.

"Well, it looks like we got a snack.

Moments later, the melons were sliced and ready for eating.

"This watermelon is perfect!" May happily says.

"The sweetest I've ever tasted!" Max says.

"A little shake of salt makes them sweeter," Brock says.

The Pokemon agree on how delicious they are.

Both trainer and Pokémon take another bite. Soon, Mew turns around and spits the seed to send them flying to the ground.

"That was nice. Ever heard of manners?" May says, sarcastically.

"My bad," Mew says, "When I eat watermelons, I pretend to use Bullet Seed with some of the Pokemon. We make it into a game.

Max giggles, "That's funny.

Then Mew has an idea, "Hey, that reminds me of something! Seed spitting!"

Pikachu and Eevee become confused, (Seed Spitting?)

"Go, Treecko, I choose you!" Mew says, and calls out her Pokemon.

Treecko soon comes out.

"Hey Treecko, maybe you can try some watermelon," Mew says, and if you like, you can learn how to use Bullet Seed by using them."

"Treecko," (Alright.) Treecko says.

. "Bullet Seed?" May asks

"Yeah. Remember that Shiftry we met and how powerful its own Bullet Seed was?" Mew says.

Mew remembers how Shiftry uses the Bullet Seed attack.

"I figure maybe Treecko can use it for practice," Mew says

Mew then turns to Treecko, "Alright, Treecko, just watch me, and I'll show you how it's done. Take a few bites…" And takes a bite.

Then spits the seeds at a tree.

"And you spit the seeds out like this," Mew says.

Then Treecko says, "Okay, now it's your turn. Do it just like you saw it."

Treecko agrees and does so.

"That's good, but make sure to do it with more force," Mew says, and demonstrates it.

Treecko does so and spits out the seeds.

"That's good! Now you're getting it, Treecko! Keep going like that!" Mew says.

Both trainers eat and spit once more.

"Now work on your aim and how accurate your shots are," Mew says.

Treecko opens his mouth and a sphere of energy is seen inside.

"You're doing it," Mew happily says, "Now fire at…"

But before it can be unleashed, a Bullet Seed fires down at the gang.

"What's going on?!" Tomo exclaims.

They soon see what attacked them, a Grovyle. Grovyle is a bipedal Pokémon similar in appearance to a theropod dinosaur. It is primarily green with a red underside. There is a belt-like green stripe across its belly. Grovyle's hands have two clawed fingers and powerful legs with birdlike feet. Its well-developed muscles make it an expert climber and allow it to leap quickly from branch to branch. Grovyle has three long leaves on its wrists, a large leaf on top of its head, and two tails that have a leafy appearance.

"Whoa, look! It's a Grovyle!" Max says.

"Let's see," Mew says and gets her Pokedex.

Dextette says, "Grovyle, the Wood Gecko Pokemon. A Grass Type. Grovyle is the evolved form of Treecko and lives deep within forests. Known as tree climbers, they jump easily from one tree to the next."

The Grovyle is soon joined by a Slugma.

"Look! That's a Slugma!" Brock says.

"A Slugma?" May says and gets out her Pokedex.

Dextette says, "Slugma, the Lava Pokemon. A Fire Type. Slugma have intensely hot magma, which circulates throughout their bodies, carrying nutrients and oxygen to their organs."

Just then, the Grovyle fires Bullet Seed at the group.

"Guys, let's get out of here!" May cries out.

"Run!" Molly panics.

However, an Ember from Slugma stops them.

"I have a feeling they don't want us going anywhere!" Mew says.

"What would make them attack us out of the blue like this?!" Brock wonders.

Soon, someone calls out, "Okay, that's enough!"

The attacks stop and a young woman steps up. The woman has short green hair, blue eyes, fair skin.

The woman sternly says, "Caught red-handed! How dare you, you rotten watermelon thieves!"

"What?!"Jen says, confused.

"What do you mean thieves?" May asks.

"We didn't steal anything!" Tomo says.

"You've got a lot of nerve to say that, when the evidence is right here!" The woman says, and (points to the watermelon slices before taking a few bites and spitting out the seeds, "A watermelon like this, a watermelon so sweet, so juicy, so perfectly red and ripe, could only have been grown by Natasha, the Melon Master!"

"I'm sure you're probably right about that," Brock says.

'"But we didn't steal those watermelons, honest. My friends and I found them floating down the river while having lunch?"

"It's true, we didn't know they belonged to anyone," May says.

But Natasha doesn't believe them, "Save it, sister! And confess before this gets any harder!"

"It's the honest truth! How can we convince you that we're not lying?!" Mew says.

Soon, the group sees the watermelon painted Electrode hop into view.

"A giant watermelon hopping around on its own!" May panic.

"That's no melon, that's an Electrode!" Max says.

"Yeah. It's just painted to look like one," Mew says.

Natasha turns to her Pokemon, "Take a good look, Electrode, these are the no-good watermelon thieves you ran into before, aren't they?"

However, after getting a good look at them, Electrode shakes its head in response.

"WHAT?! They aren't?!" Natasha cries out.

And realizes her mistake, "Uh oh. I've done it again," She sheepishly says, "My mistake. Sometimes I get a little carried away trying to protect my watermelons. It's perfectly reasonable, I'm sure you understand how it is," laughs embarrassingly.

She then apologizes, "I'm sorry. There's no excuse for it."

But Mew says, "Don't blame yourself, we probably shouldn't have eaten them without asking."

"We're both wrong," May says.

Then Natasha asks, "Well, how were they? My watermelons, weren't they just the best?"

"Yeah," Tomo says.

"Best watermelon I've ever had," Brock says.

"That's perfectly fine and no surprise," Natasha says, "I know! I'll make it up to you with a tour of my patch. This way," She then starts to walk away before she realizes something, "Not again!"

"What?! What happened?!" May asks.

"No, I just always seem to forget to introduce myself. I'm Natasha, what are your names," Natasha says.

Everyone just sweat drops.

"Hi. I'm Ashley from Pallet Town," Mew says.

"And I'm May," May says.

Max: My name is Max," Max says.

Brock: And I'm Brock," Brock says.

"Tomo," Tomo says.

"Jen," Jen says.

"And I'm Molly," Molly says.

And the Pokemon introduce themselves.

After the introduction, Mew and the others arrive at Natasha's watermelon patch.

"Wow, it's huge!" Mew says.

"Is it really all yours, Natasha?" Max asks

"It sure is," Natasha answers.

"Seems like a big responsibility for one person to manage all this," Brock says.

"And I love it!" Natasha says.

"Isn't it hard?" May asks.

"It's not hard at all. But don't forget, I've got these guys to help me out," Natasha says, and presents her Pokemon.

The three Pokemon agree.

"Electrode, better go keep an eye out for those melon thieves, "Natasha says.

Electrode agrees and rolls out onto the patch.

"Your Grovyle's Bullet Seed attack was really good," Mew says.

"And Slugma's Ember was, too," Max says.

"Thanks, guys. As a matter of fact, the three of us haven't lost a double battle yet," Natasha says.

"Really? Well, I'm pretty good too, you know. I'm actually a very good trainer," Mew says, of course, she is keeping her identity a secret.

Then Natasha says, "Hey! Then what would you say to a double battle right now?"

"I accept, Natasha!" Mew says.

"That's great! This is going to be just fantastic!" Natasha happily says.

Soon, both trainers are set.

"This double battle will begin once both trainers are ready and give the okay!" Brock says.

"Okay!" Mew and Natasha say.

"I wonder which Pokemon Ashely will battle with," May asks.

Mew then calls out, "I choose you!"

And with that, Treecko and Corphish come out.

Max says, "Corphish is a water type, giving it an advantage over any fire types, like Slugma."

"Okay, but why did she send Treecko out against Grovyle, its own evolved form?" May wonders."

"If I know Ashley, I'll bet she's doing it on purpose," Brock says, Üsing Natasha's Grovyle to help Treecko get some extra training in the form of this battle."

"That makes sense. Ashley is always thinking ahead," May says.

"Go ahead! You can start things off, Ashley!" Natasha calls out.

"Treecko, Pound attack against Grovyle!" Mew calls out.

Treecko charges in with its tail cocked and ready.

"Now, Corphish, attack Slugma with Bubble Beam!" Mew calls out.

Corphish fires the attack.

Natasha calls out, "Grovyle, dodge and fire a Bullet Seed at that Bubble Beam!"

Grovyle does so, countering Bubble Beam easily.

"Whoa! She's using Grovyle to protect Slugma because she knows it's vulnerable to water attacks!" Max says.

"Now it's my turn to attack! Grovyle, fire Bullet Seed at Treecko!" Natasha calls out.

Grovyle fires the attack.

Natasha then calls out, "Slugma, use Ember against Corphish, now!"

Slugma fires the attack.

Mew calls out, "Corphish, Harden! Treecko, hide yourself behind Corphish, quickly!"

Corphish hardens up and Treecko dives behind it, blocking the oncoming attacks.

"Not bad, Ashley. That was a really good strategy," Natasha says.

"Treecko, use Quick Attack on Grovyle!" Mew calls out.

Treecko darts in

"Corphish, hit Slugma with Crab Hammer!" Mew calls out.

Corphish begins the attack.

"Dodge, Grovyle, then use Leaf Blade on Corphish!" Natasha calls out.

Grovyle does so, hitting Corphish hard.

"Should have expected her to use Leaf Blade," Mew says.

Natasha then calls out, "Grovyle, use Bullet Seed, and Slugma, use Flamethrower, go!"

Both Pokemon prepare to fire.

"Quick, Corphish, Harden, and Treecko, shield yourself behind it again!" Mew calls out.

Both Pokemon fire the attack and land as Corphish struggles against them both).

"Hang on, Corphish!" Mew calls out.

The attacks cease, but Corphish is exhausted.

"I need to think of something else to do," Mew says to herself.

"I think Mew is right. Corphish is taking too much damage from these attacks," Max says.

"And Natasha's haven't taken any damage at all!" May says

Mew calls out, "Hey, Corphish, can you keep battling?"

Corphish raises its claws, ready for more.

"What's the matter, Ash? Things are just starting to get interesting," Natasha says.

"Yeah, well, I'm starting to get the picture. I see why she's never lost at battles like this," Mew says.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket has made their way back to the watermelon patch.

"Watermelon temptation," Meowth says.

"Well, I say that we just eat them all," Jessie says.

"What about this overgrown guard melon?" James asks, gesturing to the Electrode.

"Trode," (Out.) Electrode says.

"Yes, that does create a problem, but, I think I'm willing to risk it," Jessie says.

And Meowth says, "But imagine what da boss would say when we gave em to him!"

"Actually, I can't imagine that," James says.

But Meowth begins to explain in his fantasy, "Okay, picture dis. Da boss is out on business in Neon Town back home in de Kanto region, and he has to cross da desert dat you'd find before reaching da city. He's tinking of making a new Team Rocket base somewhere in da city where no one would suspect. But da dessert heat would, as wit' everyone else, start gettin' to him, see? And just before he'd go crazy from either toist or hunger, he'd bring out a slice of one of da watermelons we'd give him. After taking a bite or two, he'd say; 'I should reward Meowth and his friends for giving me dese fine watermelons ahead of time before dis trip.' and laughs.

This makes Jessie and James happy.

Team Rocket cheers, "Big promotions, company transport and big riches!"

"Wobbu Wobbu!" (And some respect!) Wobbuffet says.

Jessie happily says, "Our hard work will finally pay off and all those failures will be worth it!"

"Oh, yeah!" Jessie says.

Meowth: And we owe it all ta da melons!" Meowth adds.

As Team Rocket celebrates, electrodes look at them, looking confused, thinking they're crazy.

Meanwhile, Mew and Natasha are having their battle.

Mew calls out, "Treecko, use Pound! Corphish, Bubble Beam!

Both Pokemon charge in.

Then Natasha calls out, "Dodge it, Grovyle, and then use Leaf Blade on Corphish!"

Grovyle dodges easily and performs the attack.

"Dodge!" Mew calls out.

Crophish dodges the attack.

Then Natasha calls out, "Body Slam, Slugma, and Grovyle, use Bullet Seed!"

Both Pokemon charge in.

Mew calls out, "Corphish, Harden, and Treecko, shield yourself behind Corphish again!"

Both Pokémon do so, but Slugma covers Corphish's entire body.

"Oh no! Now Treecko can't shield itself!" Max cries out.

Grovyle's attack fires, blowing Treecko back.

"Treecko, are you okay to keep going?" Mew calls out.

Treecko and Corphish barely get up.

"That Grovyle and Slugma are super strong," Max says.

"They're pretty incredible, huh?" Mew says.

"I'm gonna show you a combination of my own, Natasha!" Mew calls out, "Treecko, grab hold of Corphish's right claw!"

Treecko does so.

Mew calls out, "Corphish, use Crab Hammer on Slugma, now!"

Corphish charges in, throwing Treecko like a lawn dart.

"Treecko, follow that up with Quick Attack!" Mew calls out.

Treecko manages to nail Grovyle while Corphish lands a hard shot on Slugma.

"Alright! Treecko's Quick Attack hit the Mark!" May says.

"Crophish's Crab Hammer was really effective too," Max says.

"You got me that time, but I still got an attack up my sleeve! Let's hit em with Solar Beam, Grovyle!" Natasha says.

"Uh oh, Solar Beam," Mew says.

Grovyle starts gathering up energy.

Mew calls out, "Corphish, Harden, Treecko, shield yourself behind Corphish!"

Both Pokemon do so as the Solar Beam fires. Though Corphish manages to withstand it, he's shown to be exhausted.

Natasha calls out, "Slugma, Flamethrower attack, go!"

Slugma fires the attack.

Mew calls out, "Corphish, Bubble Beam!

Corphish fires the attack. Though both attacks collide and create some steam, they soon hit their targets at the same time, knocking them both out)

Brock announces, "Corphish and Slugma are unable to battle!"

"So that's a double knockout, huh?" Jen asks, surprised.

"Yeah," Molly replies.

"It's okay, Slugma. You put up a great fight," Natasha says and calls back her Pokemon into the Pokeball.

Mew does the sameYou, too, Corphish. Time for you to take a rest. Now it's one on one."

Electrode suddenly comes bouncing in.

Natasha rushes over, "What is it, Electrode?"

"Electrode! Electrode trode! ("They're back again! The crazy watermelon thieves!") Electrode says.

"What? The Watermelon thieves are back?" Mew asks, hearing what Electrodue says.

"You can understand it?" Natasha asks.

"Yeah, long story," Mew says.

"Either way, those watermelon thieves are back, I'll be back!" Natasha says and runs off.

"Wait up, Natasha!" Mew calls out.

Then turns to the others, "Hey, let's go with her, guys! Come on!"

Everyone agrees and runs after Natasha.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket was laughing in triumph as they were gathering up watermelons with a Cacnea robot.

"I tought dat Electrode would nevah leave! Now let's pick dis patch clean!" Meowth says.

Soon, Mew and the others follow Natasha to the watermelon patch.

"What do you think you're doing?!" Natasha demands.

And with that, Team Rocket performs their motto.

Jessie:

Prepare for trouble, we're here to poach melons.

James:

Make it double cause we're real desperate felons!

Jessie:

To protect the world from devastation.

James;

To unite all peoples within our nation.

Jessie:

To denounce the evils of truth and love.

James:

To extend our reach to the stars above.

Jessie:

Jessie.

James:

James.

Jessie:

Team Rocket can pick melons at the speed of light!

James:

Carrying them in baskets, we prepare to fight!

Meowth:

Meowth, takes a bite!

Wobbuffet:

Woooobbu! (Aaaand cut!)

"Team Rocket!" Tomo says.

"It figures you're the thieves," May says.

"No wonder Electrode called them crazy," Mew says.

Meowth laughs, "Well, dis time we brought out our Cacnea Bandit Mark 2!"

"I always dreamt of owning my own melon patch!" Jessie says.

"We'll be nice and let you have the seeds to grow more!" James says.

The giant Cacnea robot eats some melons and fires a barrage of seeds.

Natrahsa calls out, "Come on, Grovyle, show them a real Bullet Seed attack!

Grovyle leaps and prepares to attack.

Mew turns to Treecko, "Treecko, you can learn from this. Check out how Grovyle fires its Bullet Seed."

Treecko watches closely as Grovyle fires and hits the robot.

"Hey, say it, don't spray it. Dis oughta help ya," Meowth says.

The robot fires a bazooka that launches a sticky x made of tape that shuts Grovyle's mouth.

"No, Grovyle!" Natasha cries out.

"Now move along unless you want to get harvested, too!" Jessie says.

"Stop!" Mew calls out, "You're not getting away with those watermelons, you lousy crooks!"

"She then calls out, "Sprigatito, I choose you!"

And Sprigatito comes out.

"Sprigatio, use Bullet Seed!" Mew calls out.

And Sprigatio fires the attack, and hits the robot.

Then Mew turns to Teecko, "Time for Bullet Seed, Treecko."

"Ash, what are you doing?!" May asks.

"Do it, Treecko!" Mew says.

Treecko tries, but doesn't fire it with the same force as Grovyle, leaving it very weak.

"That's okay. Try it again and give it everything you've got!" Mew says.

Treecko fires again, and this time, able to use full power like Sprigatio.

"That's it!" Mew happily says.

"Alright!" Everyone cheers.

The attack hits and breaks the rope holding the basket onto the robot's back, causing the watermelons to fall.

"Catch those melons!" Natasha calls out.

They all manage to do so.

"Okay, Pikachu, Eevee, Thunderbolt em, now!" Mew says.

Both Pikachu and Eevee fire the attack that hits the robot, overloading and destroying it, sending Team Rocket flying.

"All of that hard work for nothing!" Jessie cries out.

"So much for the fruits of our labor!" James says.

"Guess we're just stuck wit da fruit dat we already got," Meowth says.

"Wobbuffet!" (Fruit of defeat!) Wobbuffet says.

"Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!" Team Rocket cries out.

Later that evening at Natasha's cabin, everyone is having a snack. At first, they think of continuing their battle, but it's been a long day, and both Grovyle and Treecko are a bit tired from the battle and having to fight against Team Rocket.

"There's nothing like cold, sweet watermelon after that adventure. So, guys, how is it?" Natasha asks.

"It tastes fantastic, Natasha! Come and have some!" May says.

"It's really good," Max says.

"You ARE the Melon Master, Natasha. Wow!" Brock says.

Mew looks over to Treecko, who was staring out into the evening sky. Mew smiles and sits next to Treecko.

"A little frustrated about the Bullet Seed?" Mew asks.

Treecko nods in response.

"That's okay. You just need a little more practice and you'll get Bullet Seed down before you know it," Mew says.

Soon, Sprigatio climbs on Mew's head, "And Sprigatio can help too."

Treecko simply turns to the sunset and smiles a bit. He then performs Bullet Seed a little, and it's getting better. Mew smiles along with Pikachu and Eevee who join them with smiles. Despite the battle not being able to finish, Treecko is starting to learn bullet seed.
