Episode 49: ZigZag Zangoose!
One day, a white and red cat-ferret Pokémon charging through some tall grass before running past and coming to a stop right in front of Mew and her friends.
A closer look, they see a bipedal Pokémon resembling a cross between a mongoose and a cat. Its fur is mostly white with deep red, scar-like markings on the face, chest, and forepaws. It has two long, black claws on its forepaws, which curl underneath the forepaws when not in use, and pink paw pads on its hind feet. It has pink eyes, long ears, and a small red nose. When it opens its mouth, two sharp fangs can be seen on its upper jaw. There are small tufts of white fur on its shoulders, and it has a large, fluffy tail.
"Hey, look over there!" Jen says.
"What kind of Pokémon is that?" May asks.
"It's a Zangoose," Max says.
"Coo," Mew says and brings out her Pokedex, Dextette says, "Zangoose, the Cat-Ferret Pokémon. A Normal Type. Zangoose usually walks around on all fours but stands on its hindlegs when angry. It's very quick and can easily dodge most enemy attacks.
Suddenly, a larger Zangoose comes running in, this time on two legs.
"Look, another one!" Tomo says.
"And it's big," Molly says.
The second Zangoose says, "There you are, Zangoose, I've been looking for you."
"What?! That second Zangoose is talking!" May says, shocked.
"Actually May, it's a human in a costume," Mew says.
Soon, the second Zangoose turns to them, "Yeah, that's right. What do you want?"
May and Max were instantly shocked by who it was, Nicholai
"Hey! We know you!" Mays says, surprised and smiles.
Nicholai smiles as well, "Oh, yeah! Didn't we meet before?"
"We sure did, Nicholai," Mew says.
After meeting up with their old friend, Nicholai, Mew and her friends take a break from their path to Fallarbor Town to get acquainted with him.
"Right after I saw you guys, I went ahead and challenged the leader of the Petalburg gym," Nicholai says.
"You did? Did you see our dad?" May asks with a smile.
"How about our mom?" Max adds.
"Yep!" Nicholai answers, "And when I told them I was friends with you two, they invited me into their house for a great home cooked meal. And then the next day, I battled your dad."
"Really? How'd you do? Did you win a badge?" Mew asks.
"I doubt that. Our dad's so strong you wouldn't even have a chance," Max says.
Nicholai stands and chuckles, "That's what they all say before they taste defeat at the hands of Nicholai!"
"Does that mean, you won?" May asks.
Nicholai answers, "No, I got creamed."
Everyone just falls over.
"I'm surprised you admit it," Tomo says.
"There's no shame in losing to a great Pokémon trainer like their father. It was just a thrill for me to battle with another proud wearer of knickerbockers!" Nicholai says.
May and Max were slightly appalled.
"Our dad would never battle wearing shorts!" May says, annoyed.
"And he'd NEVER call them knickerbockers!" Max adds.
Nicholai walks over, "Aw just you wait," and pats May on the back, "Someday all the great trainers will be wearing…
But then Brock walks towards Nicholai, "So, Nicohlai, since you lost, I guess you're out here in the woods training and getting ready for a rematch, that right?"
"Yep. I'm working on strength, speed and conditioning so the next time Zangoose and I battle, we'll be unbeatable!" Nicholai says.
Then Mew says, "Then what do you say to a battle right now?"
"I say, alright! What are we waiting for?" Nicholai says.
Soon, both trainers are ready.
Brock then announces, "This one-on-one battle will now begin, with each trainer using two Pokémon! Contestants, are you ready?"
Mew and Nicholai say, "Ready!"
"Let the match begin!" Brock announces.
Soon, Nicholai calls out, "Pokémon, quick change, go!" He leaps in the air and comes back down wearing a Marshtomp costume, "Marshtomp, I now choose you!"
And Marshtomp comes out.
"Cool, a Marshtomp," Max says.
May gets out her Pokedex, "I guess Nicholai's Mudkip must've evolved."
Dextette says, "Marshtomp, the MudFish Pokémon. A Water and Ground Type. Marshtomp is the evolved form of Mudkip, its body is enclosed in a membrane, allowing it to live on land. Its lower body is well-developed, so it's capable of walking on two legs.
"Alright, I know what I need for this battle," Mew says and calls out, "Go, Treecko!"
Nicholai then calls out, "Marshtomp, hit it with your Water Gun!"
Marshstomp fires the attack.
Mew then calls out, "Treecko, dodge and use Quick Attack!"
Treecko does so and starts closing in
"Keep blasting your Water Gun, don't let him get any closer!" Nicholai calls out.
Marshtomp fires away before Treecko eventually stops to avoid a blast.
"Don't stop!" Mew calls out.
Then Nicholai calls out, "Marshtomp, Mud Shot, now!"
Marshtomp fires.
"Quick, dodge!" Mew calls out.
Treecko barely dodges the Mud Shot, but it ends up hitting his arm.
"You okay, Treecko?" Mew asks.
Treecko is able to get up.
"That Mud Shot did some serious damage to Treecko," Max says.
Then May says, "And its Water Gun is a lot more powerful than it was when it was just a Mudkip.
Nicholai then calls out, "Okay, Marshtomp, finish him with Iron Tail!"
Marshtomp's back fins glow as it charges in
But then Mew calls out, "Now, Treecko, Bullet Seed!"
Treecko fires the attack, nailing Marshtomp and canceling out the Iron Tail.
"Oh, no! Marshtomp!" Nicholai cries out.
Then Mew calls out, "Now hit it with your Pound attack, Treecko!"
With one hard smack of his tail, Treecko knocks Marshtomp back
"Oh, no! You got to get up, Marshtomp!" Nicholai calls out.
Marshtomp tries, but fails.
Brock announces, "Marshtomp is unable to battle! Treecko is the winner!"
"Alright, Treecko, great job!" Mew cheers.
"Treecko," (Thank you.) Treecko says.
However, unbeknownst to any of them, Team Rocket was spying.
"Twerps straight ahead. And while she's busy battling dat whacky kid in a costume, we'll grab Pikachu and Eevee without him knowing it," Meowth says.
But James recognizes him, "Wait a minute, isn't he that Nicholai kid we ran into some weeks ago? The same one who's obsessed with shorts?"
"He is, but I don't care if he's obsessed with short pants, long pants or underpants, I just want to get that Pikachu and Eevee!" Jessie says.
"Woooobbuffet!" (Works for me!) Wobbuffet says.
"So I'm going in!" Jessie says and calls out, "Go, Seviper!"
Seviper is soon let out.
Jessie then says, "Listen, Seviper, as soon as the twerpette is looking away, grab Pikachu and Eevee."
Seviper agrees and they lie in wait
Nicholai calls out, "Pretty good, Ashley. You've gotten better, but you haven't beaten me yet."
"Nope. Not yet," Mew says.
"Alright! Pokémon change!" Nicholai calls out and removes his Marshtomp costume to reveal a Zangoose costume, "I choose you, Zangoose, go!"
Zangoose comes out.
"Here comes a Zangoose, Treecko, remember to keep your guard up," Mew says.
"Treecko!" (Got you!) Treecko says.
Nicholai calls out, "Okay, Zangoose, use Swords Dance!"
However, before Zangoose can perform the move, it senses something, puzzling Mew, Treecko, and the others.
"Treecko?" (What's up?) Treecko questions.
"What's the matter with you, Zangoose?" Nicholai asks.
"I think it senses something," Mew says.
Zangoose suddenly runs off.
Nicholai calls out, "Hey! Where do you think you're going?"
Zangoose leaps into some bushes and scares Team Rocket out of them.
"Hey, I think I know you three!" Nicholai says.
May and Max cry out, "Team Rocket!"
Sounds of battle are soon heard before Seviper and Zangoose leap out in front of Team Rocket and stare each other down.
Jessie calls out, "Seviper, what's the big idea disobeying my orders to wait?!
"What's the idea of you three being here in the first place?!" Tomo demands.
And Jessie and James begin to perform their motto.
Jessie:
My idea was to have your friend prepare for trouble, if you simply must know.
James:
Let's make it double and get on with the show.
Zangoose and Seviper rear up, ready for battle, frightening Team Rocket once more.
"Now I know why Zangoose was acting so strange, because it knew there was a Seviper nearby," Nicholai says, worried.
"Why? Is that a problem?" Jen asks.
"Sadly it is, Jen," Mew answers, "Seviper and Zangoose are natural born enemies,
"They sure are," Max says.
"But why are they enemies?" May asks.
"Because they can each detect the other's presence, even at a distance. And once they do, they can't resist the urge to fight," Brock says.
"And they're known for being very violent towards each other as well," Mew adds.
Both Pokémon charge and leap at each other, ready to tear each other apart. The two of them clash, but land opposite each other before they stare each other down again.
Meowth yells at it, "Excuse me, but you're supposed ta be grabbin' Pikachu and Eevee ya big, overgrown Caterpie!"
Seviper just glares at him, causing him to sweat drop before smacking him away with its tail.
"Can't ya take a joke?!" Meowth cries out.
Meowth then crashes into his teammates before they all go tumbling down a hill.
"We can't stop!" Team Rocket cries out.
Team Rocket soon lands in a river while Zangoose and Seviper continue to brawl as Seviper coils around Zangoose, trying to choke it out.
Nicholai calls out, "Stop it! You let go of Zangoose!"
As Nicholai shouts, Zangoose bites down on Seviper but then they knock him down.
"Nicholai!" Mew calls out.
The two warring Pokémon roll down the hill and into the river.
Nicholai calls out, "Zangoose, hang on!"
"Oh no!" May cries out.
Seviper swims after Zangoose as it goes down the river before Seviper nails Zangoose with a Poison Tail, sending it flying into rock before it continues floating downriver while our heroes follow on the riverbank
Nicholai calls out, "Zangoose, try to swim to shore!"
Mew then calls out, "Alright, Corphish, Bubble Beam!"
Corphish comes out and fires the attack, forcing Seviper to veer away.
"Good job, Corphish! Now go get Zangoose out of there!" Mew calls out.
Corphish dives in, grabs Zangoose and takes it to shore
"Zangoose," Nicholai calls out and pulls it ashore, "Are you alright?"
"Zan... Zangoose," (That, Seviper...) Zangoose says, weakened.
Mew looks at Zangoose, "Zangoose has taken a lot of damage, and is also a chance that it's been poisoned."
"No wonder after what happened," May says.
Mew turns to Nicholai, "Nicholai let's get Zangoose back to camp."
"Good idea, I can mix up the antidote there," Brock says.
"Okay, that sounds like a good plan," Nicholai says.
The group is soon at camp.
"Don't you worry, Zangoose. We're going to help you," Nicholai says.
"I mixed up the antidote in the form of soup, it should help cure it, "Brock says.
Nicholai takes the bowl, "Thanks, I sure hope so," And tries to give some to his Pokemon, "Here, Zangoose, this should take care of your condition."
Zangoose gets up and looks around
"Don't worry, Zangoose, we're all friends here," Tomo says.
The Pokemon agree.
"That's it. Now have some of Brock's antidote soup," Nicholai says.
Zangoose does so.
"Even injured, Zangoose is probably thinking about Seviper," May says.
"It probably wants to settle things once and for all," Max says.
"Yeah," Molly says.
Nicholai says to his Pokemon, "Just hang in there. Believe me, pal. I feel the same."
Meanwhile, Team Rocket had just fished themselves out of the river.
"Why does this happen?" Jessie says.
"Dis time it wasn't our fault, it was dat Zangoose!" Meowth says angrily.
But then James points out, "So true. But Jessie, your Seviper wasn't completely blameless as we are."
"Wooobbuffet!" (You said it!) Wobbuffet agrees.
Seviper suddenly leaps out of the river.
And James scolds it, "Seviper, you ruined our whole ambush plan! Why didn't you grab Pikachu and Eevee, you legless loser!"
Seviper just glares at him and shows his fangs.
James backs up in fright, "I'm sorry, I mean that our plan is such a loser," and tries to apologize, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. So sorry!"
Seviper starts scanning the area.
"I tink Seviper is trying ta see if dat Zangoose is still around," Meowth says.
"Seviper Seviper!" (I'll tear it apart!) Seviper says.
"It's got a real hang-up wit dis Zangoose, says it wants to tear it to pieces," Meowth says.
"I understand. I suppose everyone has one person in the world they wish they could abandon on an island or throw down a Raticate hole," Jessie says. Then shouts in resentment, "Cassidy, for instance!"
"Cassidy?!" James and Meowth react in shock.
Then Jessie says, "She's the one I'd tear to pieces if I had the chance! I know how you feel, Seviper because I feel exactly the same!"
"Seviper." (Excellent.) Seviper replies.
"Let's go and find that Zangoose, Seviper. And then, together, we'll tear it to shreds," Jessie says.
Meanwhile, at the campsite, Mew lets Nicholai use her Pokédex to learn more about Seviper's hatred toward Zangoose. Mew figures that if they can learn more about Seviper, it might give them an idea on how to beat it.
Mew's Dextette says, "Seviper, the Fang Snake Pokémon. A Poison Type. Seviper shares a generation-long feud with Zangoose. Its sword-like tail can slash foes and douse them with poison."
"Hard to believe that they've been feuding for generations," Jen says.
"Sounds like it can be a really brutal battle," May says.
"Especially with that feud that's going on," Max says.
"Zangoose will be okay once it's been healed," Brock says.
Nicholai stands up and says, "And once I've learned everything I can about Seviper, I'll need to do some practice battles to get ready."
Then Tomo volunteers, "How about I play the part of Seviper?"
"Pokémon, change!" Nicholai says, and changes into his Zangoose costume, "Zangoose!"
"Pokémon, change!" Tomo calls out and changes into a Seviper costume, "Seviper!"
It's a surprise that Nicholai actually has a costume of one.
Mew then says, "The others and I have battled Jessie's Seviper multiple times so we can help you with your training."
"And I'll act as Jessie's Seviper," Tomo says.
"Thanks. Now, Seviper, let's go!" Nicholai calls out.
Tomo charges, "Here I come! Seviper!"
Nicholai dodges out of the way, "Zang! Zang! Zang!"
"Sevi!" Tomo calls out and smacks him with his tail.
Nicholai is soon knocked on his back.
"Sorry, but Seviper's tail is fast and super strong, too," Mew says, "It can use Wrap and Poison Tail."
Nicholai gets up, "Kay!" and charges in, "Zan! Zan! Zan!"
Tomo charges in, "Seviper! Seviper!"
Nicholai dodges, "How's this, huh? I'm dodging you pretty good."
Tomo turns right around and bites Nicholai
"Yow!" Nicholai says.
"And this part is the tricky one. Even though you can dodge the Poison Tail, it can also put you in range with its Bite Attack," Mew calls out.
"So, if I dodge the tail, I get bitten, and if I avoid the fangs, I get the tail? Seems like, either way, I lose," Nicholai says.
"Keep trying and you'll figure it out," Mew says.
"Alright then," Nicholai says.
The two continue their mock battle.
"Is this fake battling really going to help Nicholai beat Jessie's Seviper?" May asks.
"It may be good for the trainers, but it doesn't help their Pokémon at all," Max says.
But Brock says, "You're wrong about that, Max. A good trainer and their Pokémon have to work together as a unit. The closer Nicholai gets to being like his Zangoose, the better their bond will become. It helps him get inside Zangoose's head."
The Pokemon agree.
"Well, if you say so," May says.
Suddenly, Skitty lets herself out.
"Skitty, you let yourself out again," May says.
Skitty soon runs onto the battlefield
"Hey!" May calls out.
Soon enough, Skitty starts chasing Mew around, causing Nicholai to sweat drop.
"Skitty, knock it off! Skitty! Come on!" Tomo cries out.
"Skitty?" Nicholai questions.
Nicholai watches as some of the group chase after Skitty as it chases after Tomo, trying to convince it that Tomos isn't a real Seviper.
"I got you!" May calls out.
Skitty, who noticed her previously, jumps out of the way, causing May to land on her face and hurt herself.
"Ow," May weakly says.
Baffled, Nicholai asks, "Is this part of the training?"
"Sadly, no," Mew answers.
Soon, Seviper is heard
"Hey, that's Seviper's voice!" Jen says.
Zangoose gets up and follows the voice into some bushes.
"Zangoose, come back!" Nicholai calls out.
"You're fully healed yet," Mew calls out.
"You're right, it doesn't have a chance against Seviper now," Brock says.
"Let's go after it, guys!" Mew says.
"Right!" Nicholai agrees, "Hang on, Zangoose, help is on the way!"
Elsewhere, it's revealed that Jessie was using a microphone and loudspeaker to get Zangoose's attention.
Jessie calls out, "Zangoose? Where are you hiding? Come on out and battle like a real Pokémon!"
"Jessie sure has a real Beedrill in her bonnet about this battle. But it could seem like a waste of time," James says.
"Yeah, but if anyting's a waste of time, its arguing wit her. Besides, we could grab hold of Pikachu and Eevee while da twerps are distracted," Meowth says.
"Wobbu! Wobbu!" (Perfect planning!) Wobbuffet agrees.
Zangoose soon appears from the bushes.
"Look who decided to show up," Jessie says.
"Viper." (Finally.) Seviper says.
Soon, Nicholai and our heroes arrive as well.
"Hold on, Zangoose, don't attack yet," Nicholai says.
Then Jessie says, "This battle is between Zangoose and Seviper, so the rest of you can butt out."
"You want a battle? You got it! And as sure as I wear shorts, you're going to lose!" Nicholai says.
"Vi Seviper," (Now, we'll end this.) Seviper says, giving Zangoose a glare.
"Zangoose." (Bring it.) Zangoose says, glaring at Seviper back.
Jessie calls out, "Seviper, go!"
Seviper darts in for the attack.
Nicholai calls out, "Alright, Zangoose, dodge it!"
Zangoose does so, though it's breathing heavily
"Looks like dodging is all it has strength for," Brock says.
"But it can't win if it doesn't attack," Max says.
"You're right. They both really need to be careful about this battle," Mew says.
Tomo calls out, "Hang in there, Zangoose!"
May: Don't give up!" May calls out.
"You can do it!" Molly cheers.
The Pokemon continue cheering.
Suddenly, two mechanical hand ensnares Pikachu and Eevee.
"Pikachu! Eevee!" Mew calls out.
And the two Pokemon are soon put in a cage.
"At last, we have Pikachu and Eevee!" James and Meowth cheer.
"Team Rocket! You're going to get it now!" Mew shouts.
Then she and the others rush to save Pikachu and Eevee, but the battle between Seviper and Zangoose blocks their way.
Mew calls out, "Pikachu, Eevee, try to shock your way out with Thunder!"
They both try to use their attack, but failed.
James calls out, "Let's go, Jessie! Pikachu and Eevee are ours!"
"Just leave dose two to fight," Meowht says.
But Jessie refuses, "I'm staying here! Can't you see I'm in the middle of a battle?" This shocked the boys. Then Jessie says, "I'm Seviper's trainer and I'm not leaving until that Zangoose is cooked. Go ahead and run away with that little Pikachu and Eevee," and her eyes are burning.
James sweatdrops, "Does Jessie seem a bit stressed, Meowth?"
Meowth sweat drops sarcastically, "Really? I hadn't noticed."
"Quit your mumbling and get out of here!" Jessie shouts.
James and Meowth panic and pick up the cage, "Okay!" and run off with Wobbuffet behind them.
"Hey! Come back here!" Mew calls out and runs after them.
The group tries to pursue James and Meowth, but the battle keeps blocking their way until they go around.
"Stop!" Mew calls out.
Jessie then says. "Now Seviper will make pate out of your Zangoose."
"Seviper." (Let's go, punk.) Seviper says.
"No one will come close to beating us, and we'll prove it!" Nicholai says.
"Zangoose," (Fight me.) Zangoose says.
Meanwhile, James, Meowth and Wobbuffet continue to run.
"Get back here with my Pikachu and Eevee!" Mew calls out.
"Ain't that twerp ever going to just give it up and let dis cartoon end?" Meowth says.
"I say we slow down their pace a bit!" James says and calls out, "Go, Cacnea!"
Cacnea comes out, but hugs James instead of going into battle.
"No time for hugs, slow them down with Pin Missile, Cacnea!" James calls out.
Cacnea fires the attacks, bringing the chase to a halt.
"Hey! What do you think you're doing?" May demands.
Soon, Meowth begins the motto.
Meowth:
Prepare for trouble, as Jessie would say.
James just looks on in confusion.
Meowth whispers to James, "Just do it like you always do, you gotta end it with a rhyme."
"I wha…" James says, confused.
And Meowth says, "Oh come on, I'm Jessie."
And with that, Meowth takes James' place in the motto.
Meowth:
Prepare for trouble, here in the wood...
James:
...and make it double like you know that you should!
Meowth:
To protect the world from devastation!
James:
To unite all peoples within our nation!
Meowth:
To denounce the evils of truth and love!
James:
To extend our reach to the stars above!
Meowth:
Meowth!
James:
And James!
Meowth:
Team Rocket blast off at the speed of light!
James:
Surrender now or prepare to fight fight fight!
Wobbuffet:
Wobbuffet! (That's right!)
With a smile, Meowth says, "That was awesome! From now on, I'll fill in for Jessie, okay."
"I have to admit, it went better than I thought," James says, but soon notices, "But right now, we've got bigger things to take care of.
They soon look to see Mew running towards them and she's not happy.
"Give back Pikachu and Eevee, you clowns!" Mew shouts.
James calls out, "Go Cacnea, Sandstorm attack!"
Cacnea performs the attack, blinding Mew and picking her up in the air. Mew falls out of the sandstorm.
Everyone cries out, "Oh no!"
Soon, Mew crashes on James and Meowth, sending Pikachu and Eevee flying.
"Pikachu! Eevee! No!" Mew cries out.
Back at the battle, Seviper and Zangoose continue going at it
"Deviper, Bite attack, now!" Jessie calls out.
Seviper darts in with its fangs ready to strike
Nicholai calls out, "Zangoose, just keep dodging!"
Zangoose does so, but the previous battle it had with Seviper is taking its toll, causing it to flinch
"Alright, now use your Poison Tail, Seviper!" Jessie calls out.
Seviper swings its tail
Nicholai calls out, "Here it comes!"
At the last moment, Zangoose dodges
"All that training with Ashley and Tomo is really paying off! Except, Zangoose is exhausted," Nicholai says, "You have to keep dodging its attacks, Zangoose. Don't let Seviper land a lucky blow!"
"I've had enough of this game," Jessie says, angrily and calls out, "Alright, Seviper, go ahead and finish it off!"
But before Seviper can do so, Pikachu and Eevee cage lands right in the middle of the battlefield, bringing the fight to a halt before both Mew and the others and Jessie's teammates come running.
"Pikachu! Eevee!" Mew calls out.
"Hold up a minute!" James calls out.
And Meowth says, "Pikachu and Eevee are ours! We stole it!"
"I got ya!" Mew calls out.
Both Mew and her friends and Jessie's teammates slide in and start brawling over the cage.
"Give us back Pikachu and Eevee!" Max calls out.
"Forget about it! It's Team Rocket's property!" Meowth shouts.
"Forget it!" Mew shouts.
James cries out, "Let go of my foot!"
"No, dat's my foot!" Meowth cries out.
Wobbuffet grabs the cage and runs off, ending the struggle.
"Wobbuffet, give them back!" Mew shouts, and runs after it.
Both parties get up and run after Wobbuffet.
"Wobbuffet!" James cries out.x
The chase continues all over the open field while Nicholai watches on.
Nicholai then has an idea, "Wait a second. They can't catch it, because it keeps zigzagging back and forth just like May's Skitty did during the training battle."
As Nicholai talks, he remembers what happened when Skitty came out.
Nicholai calls out, "Zangoose, you got to move like Wobbuffet is moving, zigzags!"
Jessie calls out, "Everyone, stop this chase!"
The chase quickly comes to a halt, allowing Mew to snatch her Pokemon back.
"I'll take my friends back, thank you!" Mew says.
James cries out, "It happened again!"
"You're all a bunch of cheaters!" Mew says.
"Besides, I think
Soon, Jessie says, "Take your silly squabble elsewhere, I have a sacred battle to focus on," and calls out, "Seviper, go!"
Seviper darts in for the attack.
Nicholai calls out, "Zangoose, go for it!"
Zangoose starts darting in and out of view
"I see you've chosen to waste what little energy it has left. That's fine," Jessie says as she chuckles, "Chase it down!"
Seviper does so.
Meanwhile, Mew gets Pikachu and Eevee out of his cage.
"You both okay?" Mew asks.
Pikachu and Eevee confirm that they're okay.
Nicholai calls out, "Zangoose, run the way I told you about, in zigzags!"
Zangoose does so, managing to keep out of range of Seviper, but temporarily.
"Seviper's gaining on Zangoose!" Max says.
"This is bad," Jen says.
"It looks like Seviper's going to win this after all," May says.
"I'm not sure. You see the way Zangoose is zigzagging," Mew says.
"You're right, that's the same kind of running Skitty was doing earlier," Brock says.
Jessie calls out, "Quick, Seviper, stop it with Bite and then use Poison Tail!"
Seviper closes in with an open mouth.
But Nicholai calls out, "Okay, Zangoose, jump!"
Zangoose does so as both the bite and Poison Tail miss their mark
"No way!" Jessie cries out in shock.
"Yeah! Zangoose managed to avoid that combo!" Mew says.
"Yeah, Zangoose was running in a zigzag pattern to avoid Seviper's attacks and tire it out at the same time!" Brock says.
Nicholai then calls out, "Alright, Zangoose, Crush Claw!"
Zangoose turns right around, leaps and comes down with energy flowing through its claws, landing a hard blow on Seviper.
Seviper lands, defeated.
"Oh, no! My Seviper!" Jessie cries out.
Nicholai cheers, "Way to go, Zangoose!"
Zangoose lands, proud of itself.
Jessie kneels to Seviper, "Seviper, pull yourself together. What happened?"
Seviper regains consciousness
"You were amazing, Seviper. Your fighting skills and spirit will go down in the annals of Pokémon battle history," Jessie says.
Suddenly, Meowth shouts, "Enough of dat mushy stuff, let's get dat Pikachu and Eevee back!"
"Okay!" James says and calls out, "Cacnea, Pin Missile!"
Cacnea comes out and opens fire.
"Alright, you asked for it! Pikachu, Eevee, Thunder, now!" Mew calls out.
Both Pokemon before the attack, land, and electrifying Team Rocket before blasting them off.
"This feels very familiar!" James cries out.
"Is it possible we should be looking into another line of woik?" Meowth cries out.
Jessie then says, "I swear on my Seviper's life I will have my revenge!"
"Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!" Team Rocket cries out.
A bit later, Zangoose is being tended to
"You did a great job, Zangoose. That was an awesome battle," Nicholai says.
"Zangoose Zang." (Thanks, Nicholai.) Zangoose says.
"You did great yourself, Nicholai," Mew says.
Nicholai says, "I never would've done it without that practice battle and all your help."
Then Mew asks, "Hey, how about you and I finish our battle?"
"Yeah!" Nicholai agrees.
Soon, both trainers are back in place at the campsite and ready
"Ashley is ahead, one to zero! Let us now continue this battle with a restart!" Brock says.
"Okay!" Mew and Nicholai say.
"Pokémon, change!" Nicholai calls out and changes into a Zigzagoon costume, "Zigzagoon, come on out and help me win!"
Zigzagoon comes out.
"I had a feeling you'd choose Zigzagoon," Mew says.
Then calls out, "Go, Pikachu!"
Pikachu darts forward
Nicholai calls out, "Go, Zigzagoon!"
Zigzagoon darts in and both Pokémon start chasing each other around the battlefield.
"You know, if Nicholai keeps practicing this way, he could become a really good trainer," May says.
"Yeah, and if that happens, everyone will start wearing shorts like him," Max says.
"Even our dad!" May says.
Both brother and sister laugh.
"After a tough victory against a sworn enemy. Mew, Nicholai and the rest of the group realize, once again, the importance of Pokémon training. And so, their journey will continue, right after this battle.
