Episode 53: Cheer Pressure

On a bright sunny day, May is looking at her first Contest ribbon while also being super excited about it, to the bewilderment of the others.

"Oh man. How long is this going to go on?" Max replies.

"Aw, it's alright. Your sister just won her first ribbon. It's okay to gloat and get excited a little," Brock says.

"Yeah, I remember how happy I was when I got my first badge back in Kanto," Mew says.

"I remember," Brock says.

Soon, the group reached a fork in the road.

"So which way to Lavaridge Town?" Tomo asks.

Mew then points to the left path, "That way."

The group continue making their way to Lavaridge Town for Mew's Gym Battle. Soon, they hear the sound of drums coming from the distance.

"What's that?" Molly asks.

"Are those, drums?" Mew questions.

"Cool," Jen says.

"But who would be playing drums in the middle of the woods?" May asks.

Brock soon notices some stairs, "It's coming from up there, at the top of those stairs. Let's go check it out."

"Yeah," The group agrees.

With that, they start to climb up before they discover some kind of camp. A young boy soon hops off the stand he was standing on and runs up to greet Mew and the others.

The familiar boy says, "Great to see you guys again. Remember me?"

"Oh, yeah!" Mew happily says, and remembers when he helped Thatcher become a hero in his own right, "Thatcher! It's you!"

Pikachu and Eevee happily say 'Hello,' in their language.

"Right, from the Mountain Lighthouse," Brock says.

"How've you been?" May asks.

"I'm great, thank you," Thatcher says.

"How are Plusle and Minun?" Max asks.

"They're good, thanks for asking," Thatcher says. Then calls out, "Plusle, Minun!"

Plusle and Minun run up and Pikachu greets them before they run off to play together.

"So Thatcher, what brought you all the way up here?" Tomo asks.

"A pep squad," Thatcher says.

This has the group confused.

"A Pep squad?" Mew questions.

"Like a cheer squad?" May wonders.

"What's that?" Jen questions.

"You see, guys…" Thatcher says.

Flashback:

Thatcher explains, "After we all met, I went off to become a Pokémon trainer like Ashley.

Plusle and Minun stop and start charging up.

Thatcher calls out, "Plusle, Minun, Helping Hand, now!"

The two of them combine their powers to create a massive bolt of blue electricity that shoots up into the sky.

Thatcher continues with his story, "Then, one day, when we were practicing some attacks…"

And soon, they are approached by a stranger, "Not bad. That's quite an impressive Helping Hand, young man."

Thatcher turns to the man, "Who are you?"

The man says, "I'm Sheridan and I'm recruiting new students for my school, training top level pep squads to cheer during Pokémon battles."

"Pep squads?" Thatcher replies, confused.

"That's right," Sheridan says, "And you're in luck, because my training will make you a Cheer Master."

Flashback ends:

"And here I am now," Thatcher says.

"Cheer master?" May questions.

"That's odd," Jen replies.

"What's that mean?" Max asks.

"Well, I'm still in training, but I'm learning the ancient arts of inspiring warriors in battle…" Thatcher says.

As Thatcher talks, little do any of them know that Team Rocket was watching them from afar.

"Twerps spotted," Jessie says.

"Did I hear him correctly? A cheerleading school?" James says.

"Yeah, but cheerleaders can be stuck up," Meowth says.

But Jessie says, "That's not necessarily true, Meowth."

"It's not true," James says, "I had a fabulous experience with my own squad," James says.

"And I hear you looked great in your uniform," Jessie says.

Meowth thinks about it, "You know, maybe we need our own cheerleading squad."

"You're right, I can be the beautiful team captain that other girls would be jealous of," Jessie says.

But Meowth says, "Well, you're already head of our little trio."

"Perhaps we should put it to a vote?" Jessie asks.

Back to Mew and her friends' conversation with Thatcher.

Max wonders, "Wait a sec, isn't it against the rules to use Plusle and Minun's Helping Hand to affect the outcome of a battle?" Then turns his head, "What do you think, Brock?

However, they see that Brock was nowhere to be seen.

Then May looks ahead, "Brock is over there."

They look and see Brock flirting with two other students.

Brock says to the girls, "I've always had an admiration for women in the business of pep. As a matter of fact, I've done a bit of cheering myself."

Brock demonstrates but is quickly pulled away by Max.

Max says, "I believe the word is pep, not pest."

"Oh brother," Mew says, rolling her eyes.

Thatcher then explains, "The way Sheridan explained it to me, all the power in the Pokemon cheers. The cheering helps to revitalize the Pokémon. And so, there's nothing about it that's against the rules.

"I guess that explains it," Mew says.

"Sort of," Tomo says.

Meanwhile, in another tent, Team Rocket prepares to put their scheme in motion by talking directly with Sheridan.

"Master? We need your help…" Jessie says.

"Please," James and Meowth say.

Then James says, "We heard of the effect that cheering can have on battles, and our record's been subpar.

"Yeah, over 300 losses below subpar," Meowth says.

"So, with the help of your power of cheers, we were hoping that you'd be able to help us get a victory?" James says.

"To help the underdog in battle, that is the true purpose of my teachings," Sheridan says.

Team Rocket bows, "Yes. Thank you for your help, sir."

Then Jessie says, "In fact, some Pokemon trainers just arrived. Perhaps we could start out by battling them, master."

"Maybe. Certainly, with the power of my cheering, even you three might win," Sheridan says, "Alright, but before I agree to help, there's still the small issue of my payment. Nothing but air comes for free."

"Yes, and don't we know it? Of course!" James says.

Then Jessie says, "Master, just name your price, the sky is the limit."

Meowth whispers, "Hope he'll take a check."

"So how much?" James asks.

"We're ready to pay," Team Rocket says.

"Then you got yourselves a cheerleader," Sheridan says.

Meanwhile, the Pokemon along with Plusle and Minun are playing in the woods with their trainers nearby.

Soon, one of the cheer girls walks over, "Hi there. Sorry to interrupt. I know you're tired from your walk, but I could really use your help. Could I ask a favor?"

Brock quickly comes up to her, "Why, of course. Anything at all."

"Thanks," The girl says.

Then Thatcher says, "Sheridan has some new students who want you to be in a test battle for a cheerleading demonstration."

"Sure thing, we'd be happy to help him," Brock says, blushing.

"Sure. I don't mind. I can go through some trainers before my gym battle," Mew says.

Soon, Thatcher and the cheer girl escort Mew and the others to the battlefield.

"Master," Thatcher says before turning to the group, "Everyone, this is my master and pep squad leader, Sheridan."

"Welcome to my cheering academy," Sheridan says.

"Master, Ashley and her friends agreed to do a test battle," Thatcher says.

"Well, that is very much appreciated. What I'll demonstrate, as pep squad leader, is the amazing powers within the words of Pokémon cheering," Sheridan says.

"Of course," Thatcher says.

Then Brock steps up, "Guess I'm up first, but please, go easy on me."

The cheer girl calls out, "Come on out here, you three! Our guests have generously agreed to battle with you."

"Oh, goody!" Team Rocket happily says and eagerly runs up.

"Brock, let me know when you're ready to battle," The girl says.

"I was born ready," Brock says.

"Wait, why do we start with him?" Jessie asks.

Sheridan turns to Jessie to ask "Is there a problem?"

"No, no. It's not a problem at all," Jessie quickly says. Then turns to James, "You go first, okay?"

"Me? Why?" James asks.

Soon, the girl asks, "What name should I announce?"

"Oh, you can call me Ja…" James says, but Jessie steps on his foot.

James cries out, "Jameson!"

Soon, Brock and 'Jameson' are set and ready for battle.

The cheer girl announces, "Brock and Jameson, this will be a one-on-one battle with no time limit! This cheering test battle will now begin!"

James then calls out, "I choose Cacnea!"

Cacnea comes out, but hugs James instead.

James cries out, "Stop that, you pinhead! Why do you continue to hug me instead of going into battle like normal?! That hurts!"

Brock then calls out, "Alright, go, Forretress!"

Forretress comes out of the Pokeball.

James then calls out, "Cacnea, go! Pin Missile!"

Cacnea fires the attack.

Brock calls out, "Forretress, Rapid Spin!"

Forretress uses the attack to deflect and reflect the pins back at Cacnea.

Brock then calls out, "That's the way! Now Tackle!"

Forretress closes in and nails Cacnea.

"Cacnea!" James cries out.

"Well, that did it," Max says.

"Looks like Brock won that match," Tomo says.

But then Thatcher says, "Don't be so sure until you've seen the effects of the cheer."

Sheridan puts on his mask and says, "Drum number one, start with a three, three, seven count."

As the drums go, through a small microphone in his shirt collar, Sheridan instructs something in the drum to use Helping Hand. In mere moments, a small jolt of blue electricity exits the drum and travels into Cacnea. And Mew and Max are the first ones to notice it.

"Whoa, that was weird," Max says.

"What was weird?" Jen asks.

"I thought I saw something," Max says.

"You saw it too?" Mew says.

Cacnea gets up, ready for more.

Then James calls out, "Go, Cacnea! Needle Arm, now!"

Cacnea darts in.

"No way!" Brock cries out.

As Jessie and Meowth marvel in amazement, Cacnea soon lands the attack hard.

"Hold on! Cacnea was knocked out but got revived?" Tomo says, shocked.

"That's right," Thatcher says.

James then calls out, "Okay, Cacnea, now use Sandstorm!

Cacnea spins around rapidly enough to create a sandstorm. One powerful enough to blind Forretress.

Then James calls out, "And now Pin Missile once more!"

Cacnea then fires the attack.

Then Brock calls out, "Forretress, Rapid Spin!"

Forretress tucks in and spins around just as the Pin Missiles land, causing an explosion.

"Wait a second! That attack was stronger than before!" Mew says.

The dust settles and shows Forretress was knocked out, shocking our heroes.

The girl announces, "Forretress is unable to battle, Cacnea's the winner! The victory goes to Jameson!"

James happily cheers, "Yahoo!, I won! I can't believe I actually won!"

Cacnea leaps towards James and hugs him while he celebrates, despite the pain.

"I can't believe Brock actually lost to this guy," May says, shocked.

"Yeah," Jen says.

"That was pretty strange. I don't get how things could just suddenly turn around like that," Max says.

Mew then whispers to the ground, "Whatever it is, I think something's strange is going on?"

"How can you tell?" Molly asks.

Mew gestures to everyone to huddle and everyone does so.

"During this cheer secession, I could have sworn I saw some blue spark coming out of the drum," Mew whispers.

Max whispers, "I saw it too."

"I didn't see anything," May says.

"It's faint, but I saw it," Mew says.

"So what do we do?" Tomo asks.

"I have an idea," Mew says.

Then whispers to the group about her plan. Everyone nods her head.

Mew soon stands up and says, "So, I'm up next, Sheridan!"

"Good, the lead twerpette is next up," Jessie says. Then turns to Meowth, "As soon as that Pikachu or Eevee is powerless if not knocked out, swoop in and grab it."

"You got it, Jess," Mewoth says.

"What if you don't win?" James asks.

"Oh, I'll win. Because Sheridan knows if I don't, he'll never get his money," Jessie says.

James and Meowth nod in agreement

Jessie stands up, "Let's do it!"

"Alright, I'm ready to battle!" Mew says.

"Eevee!" (We both are!) Eevee says.

As the battle is about to begin, Max, Tomo, and Jen peek out from hiding behind the tent.

"Alright. Mew and I saw blue light coming out from the drum," Max whispers.

"So it's possible that there's foul play," Jen whispers.

Tomo whispers, "And Mew wants us to investigate it."

"But how can we get close to the drums?" Jen asks.

Max turns to see the cheer outfits, and whispers, "We can use those."

"Good idea," Jen whispers.

Back on the battlefield.

The cheer girl whispers, "Round two will be the match between Ashley from Pallet Town and…"

"Oh um, Jessica," Jessie says.

"Good," The girl says, "Now, Ashley and Jessica, as before, one on one with no time limit. Let this test battle begin!

Jessie calls out, "Seviper, go!"

Seviper comes out.

Jessie says in thought, "Today's the day. Finally, we'll be victorious! Just when Seviper and I mercilessly beat down Eevee, James and Meowth will show up in our new robot. We'll snatch Pikachu and Eevee, and make our getaway," And chuckles.

Suddenly, Mew calls out, "Thunderbolt!"

Eevee fires the attack easily.

Then Mew calls out, "Now use Quick Attack!"

Eevee darts in.

Jessie cries out, "Hey, no fair! I wasn't ready!"

"You always need to keep focused on the battle!" Mew says. Then calls out, "Iron Tail, Pikachu!"

Eevee's Iron Tail Attack lands, and knocks Seviper down.

Jessie turns to Sheridan, "Care to start that cheering? Seviper here could use a little rallying."

"Don't be impatient. The secret to an effective rallying cheer, is waiting until the minor league opponent thinks he's in the majors," Sheridan says, and puts his mask on, "Pep squad, are you ready?"

"Yes!" The student says.s

Little do any of them know that the investigators had put on some of Sheridan's uniforms and were watching closely.

"Here we go," Max whispers.

"Time to figure out what all this is about," Jen whispers.

Soon, Mew calls out, "Eevee, Thunderbolt, now!"

Eevee fires and lands the attack, paralyzing Seviper.

"Seviper!" Jessie cries out.

Then turns to Sheridan, "Alright, Sheridan, enough talk of the minor leagues because my Seviper's in major league trouble!

"Perhaps you're right," Sheridan says. Then says to his students, "Pep squad, ready another rallying cheer!

As Sheridan talks, the investigators watch and wait.

Sheridan calls out, "Drum number two, give us a three, three, seven count!"

The drums beat as coordinated.

Sheridan quietly says to the microphone, "Aromatherapy."

That has Max and the others' attention.

"Aromatherapy?" Jen whispers.

"That's the attack that can cure conditions of paralysis, burns, and sleep," Tomo whispers.

"Pokemon like Roselia and Vileplume can use that attack," Max whispers.

"But why?" Jen whispers.

"Who's he telling it to?" Tomo questions.

Soon, they hear Sheridan whispers, "Roselia, Vileplume, I'm waiting. Aromatherapy, now."

Inside the drum are actually Roselia and Vileplume. Both of them perform the attack, which seeps out of the drum and towards Seviper. Mew ends up seeing green powder being sprinkled onto Seviper, causing it to revive.

"Very good. And we're ready to go!" Jessie cheers.

Mew says in thought, "That powder, and scent, I know what that is…"

Eevee also sees it, "Eevee Vee," (That's Aromatherapy.)

"How did it recover from that paralysis so fast?" Brock asks.

"Because healing is part of what we cheerleaders do, Brock," Thatcher says.

"Did he say healing?" Jen whispers.

"Then the glow we saw was Aromatherapy," Max whispers.

"And it seems to be coming out from one of the drums," Tomo says.

"So then, what about the blue light that Mew and Max saw?" Jen wonders.

Sheridan then says, "Drummer number one, give us another three, three, seven count."

The drummer did as he was instructed.

And then Sheridan quietly says "Helping Hand."

"Helping hand?" Tomo questions.

"That's the attack that can increase a Pokemon's attack power," Max says.

"Plusle and Minin can use that move," Jen whispers.

"Other Pokemon can use that attack as well, or at least learn it," Tomo whispers.

Inside the first drum, Shroomish and Makuhita are inside wearing headsets.

Sheridan whispers, "Shroomish, Makuhita, now."

The move is performed, and it exits the drum before zapping Seviper.

Max whispers, "That's the blue light we saw."

"And Sheridan says Shroomish and Makuhita, and they can use Helping Hand," Tomo says.

Quierly, Max realizes, "So that's it. They're not reviving Pokemon by cheering at all. They're really using Pokemon attacks to do it."

"That's against the rules," Jen says.

Soon enough, Seviper is fully revived and is ready to battle.

Mew has been watching the battle, and has seen everything. In fact, Mew doesn't look very pleased at all, because she has seen the truth.

Soon, Jessie calls out, "Go, Seviper, Poison Tail!"

Seviper performs the attack and it lands harder than usual, sending Eevee flying back.

"Eevee!" Mew cries out.

"It looks like that Poison Tail did a lot of damage," Brock says.

"And it used a lot of damage,"

"That Poison Tail either is more powerful than before, or Seviper is stronger than it looks.

"Now you can see what kind of power rallying cheers have," Thatcher says.

Mew then calls out, "Eevee, Thunderbolt, now!"

Eevee then fires and the attack lands, paralyzing Seviper.

Sheridan quietly says, "Aromatherapy."

The move seeps out of the drum and heals Seviper.

"Try it one more time!" Mew calls out.

Eevee does so, paralyzing Seviper again.

Sheridan quietly says, "Aromatherapy."

The move seeps out of the drum and heals Seviper once again. Eevee launches another Thunderbolt.

Sheridan quietly says, "Helping Hand."

The move escapes from the drum and powers up Seviper before Seviper is paralyzed again.

Sheridan quietly says, "Aromatherapy."

The move seeps out of the drum and, once again, heals Seviper as the battle goes on with the same results happening every time a Thunderbolt lands. After paying close attention to the battle, Mew finally understands what's going on.

"When the hearts and the minds of the trainer and the rallying squad are united, power can be restored to the Pokémon without the need for any attacks at all," Sheridan says.

As Sheridan talks, Max and the others hear everything.

Max whispers, "That guy's just a big, fat liar."

Jen whispers, "We gotta find a way to prove it."

Sheridan puts his mask on and quietly says, "Helping Hand."

Suddenly, Mew calls out, "Eevee, use Tackle!"

Soon, Eevee hits Seviper with Tackle, but the Helping Hand is able to give Seviper some energy, but not all of it.

Jessie calls out, "Go, Seviper! Poison Tail, now!"

Seviper closes in

"Dodge Eevee!" Mew calls out.

However, it's too late, Eevee gets hit and ends up landing on the ground.

"Eevee!" Mew cries out and struggles to get out.

"You okay, Eevee?!" Mew calls out.

"Eevee is so tired that she can't dodge," Brock says.

"What can she do?" Molly asks.

"Even Ashley can't defeat a rallying squad's words. Nobody can," Thatcher says.

Despite being weakened and tired, Eevee struggles and keeps herself standing.

Just then, Thatcher: Well, Ashley, maybe you should quit."

Then Jessie calls out, "Okay, Seviper, Wrap!"

Seviper then comes in for the attack and heads towards Eevee.

"Eevee, you gotta get up!" Mew calls out, "I know you can do it, Eevee! Eevee!"

Soon, Eevee is able to up and soon charges for an attack. Eevee then stands her ground and soon her tail begins to glow light green and changes into the form of a long blade. Before Seviper can land, Eevee quickly dodges by jumping into the air, and then her green blade-like tail strikes at Seviper, shocking everyone.

"Woah!" Max says, shocked.

"What was that?!" May asks.

"That's Leaf Blade! Eeevee is able to use Leaf Blade!" Brock says.

Eevee ends up hitting Seviper and it gets thrown at the cheer stands. Everyone panics and moves out of the way. Seviper ends up crashing into both drums, causing them and Seviper to tumble down.

"My drums!" Sheridan cries out.

Everyone turns their attention to see the drums and Seviper tumbling down, and they all crash into the battlefield, creating smoke. When the smoke clears it reveals that Seviper is knocked out, and reveals the Pokemon that's been inside the drum, who are also knocked out.

"What's going on?" Molly asks.

Soon, Max says, "That whole cheering thing was just a scam!"

Everyone turns to see Max, Tomo, and Jen coming out of their disguises.

"Cheering didn't revive those Pokémon!" Max says.

"That's right. That Shroomish and Makuhita is what revived Cacnea during the first battle, and again in the second battle to revive Seviper using Helping Hand," Tomo says.

"And Vileplume and Roselia have been using Aromatherapy to heal Seviper when Eevee paralyzed it," Jen says.

"They were using their attacks from inside the drums this whole time!" Tomo adds.

"I knew something was fishy. Sheridan was really cheating the entire time," Mew adds.

Sheridan gulped and sweat dropped when he realized his scam was found out while Thatcher was left in shock, as the other cheerleaders well.

"That's totally against the rules!" May says.

"I had a feeling there was something wrong during my battle and this one!" Brock says.

"Which means Sheridan is really a big fake, and a cheater!" Molly adds.

The girl says in shock, "What?!" And turns to Sheridan, "Tell me it isn't so! Are you a fake?"

Sheridan soon cries out, "My beautiful scheme is ruined!"

Thatcher is clearly upset by this, "Master, everything you said to me was a lie?! How could you?!"

Soon, the students expressed their shock and disappointment, "We trusted you! We believed in you! And we paid a lot of money, too!"

"Well, about that money…" Sheridan says, sheepishly. Then says, "Got to go!" And runs off, "I'll send you a check!"

Then Mew calls out, "Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!"

Pikachu performs the attack and shocks Sheridan.

Tomo then calls out, "Sage, use Vine Whip!"

Soon, Sage the Bulbasaur comes out and wraps Sheridan with the attack.

"I say we report him to Officer Jenny," Jen says.

Annoyed, Jessie says, "Bah. His cheering was annoying anyway," and calls back his Seviper.

Mew then picks up Eevee, "You were great Eevee, Despite that they ended up cheating because of that fake cheer, we have more power because of our friendship and trust, and no shortcuts. What's more, you actually can use Leaf Blade, that's impressive. It just shows that being strong and trusting each other is better than someone else doing it."

"That's true," Thatcher says.

"Vee. Eevee Eevee Eevee." (Yeah. Our friendship and trust is what really made us strong.) Eevee says, and falls asleep.

Mew smiles, "I don't blame you for being tired. That battle really tuckered you out."

The group walks over.

"Poor Eevee, she's really tried," May says.

"Yeah. That battle really had her exhausted," Tomo says.

"What's worse? The cheering or that surprisingly powerful friendship they have?" Jessie says, annoyed, "I guess the only good strategy is using our original Team Rocket tactics, so…" She then removes her disguise and performs the motto.

Jessie:

Prepare for trouble and hear our own cheer!

As Jessie finishes her sentence, James and Meowth arrive in their balloon

James: (removes his disguise)

Making it double is what makes things clear!

Jessie:

To protect the world from devastation.

James: (into a megaphone)

To unite all peoples within our nation!

Jessie:

To denounce the evils of truth and love.

James:

To extend our reach to the stars above!

Jessie:

Jessie.

James: (laughs as he brings the balloon in closer)

James!

Jessie:

Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light!

James:

Surrender now or prepare to fight, fight and fight!

Meowth:

Meowth! Dat's right!

Wobbuffet:

Wooobbuffet! (That's a wrap!)

"Team Rocket!" Mew says.

"We should have known it was you," Tomo says.

"But of course," James says.

Jessie turns to the guys, "Hey, wait a minute, where's that super robot you were supposed to show up with?"

"We had to use all our dough payin that cheerleader leader. We haven't got no more," Meowth says.

But then James says, "Hey, Eevee is all worn out from that battle with Seviper, we don't need a robot to catch it now!"

"You got a point," Meowth says.

"A good one," Jessie says.

Meowth says, and brings out the remote, "So, why not? Here we go."

With the press of a button, a mechanical arm lowers and grabs Eevee, from Mew's arms.

"Eevee!" Mew calls out, "Use your Thunderbolt to break free!"

Eevee however isn't able to do anything.

"Looks like that battle with Seviper tired him out," Tomo says.

Soon, Thatcher calls out, "Plusle, Minun, use your Helping Hand attack on Eevee!"

They do so, revitalizing Eevee instantly.

"Alright. Pikachu, Eevee, Thunder!" Mew calls out.

Both combined attacks land and destroy the mechanical hand while both attacks continue into the atmosphere, creating a thunderstorm.

"You did make the balloon electricity proof, right, Meowth?" Jessie asks.

"Uh, yeah, of course," Meowth says.

"Then we should be fine," James says.

But Meowth says, "But dere could be a hitch. Pikachu and Eevee's electrical power being combined with a Helping Hand, dat I'm not so sure of."

Thunder and lightning start to roll across the sky.

Jessie shrugs, "I should've known something like this would happen once we got involved with those stuck up cheerleaders."

"Cheerleaders are NOT stuck up!" James says.

Wobbuffet cries out, "Wooobbu!" (Look out!)

Right on cue, the Thunder from Pikachu and Eevee land and destroy the balloon, sending Team Rocket flying.

Team Rocket cries out, "Here we go! Team Rocket's blasting off again!"

On the ground, the Pokémon celebrate.

Mew turns to Thatcher, "You were great, Thatcher. Your Helping Hand really helped us."

"I guess," Thatcher says, and feels disappointed.

"What's wrong, Thatcher?" Mew asks.

"Honestly, I feel like I messed up," Thatcher says.

"What?" Mew asks.

"Just watching you and Eevee, seeing the way you stuck together despite Jessie's Seviper having the upper hand, I realized I had it backwards the whole time. Being strong yourself is way more important than relying on people to cheer you on. Bonds between trainer and Pokémon are what make the trainer a real one, like you. The kind of trainer I want to become someday," Thatcher says.

Then the girl says, "You're so right. I'm getting out of here and I'll make a whole new start myself."

Brock then comes up to the cheerleader girl, "Speaking of new starts, how about a whole new start on romance with me?"

Then Max pulls Brock by the ear, "How about, a whole new start on not being annoying?"

"Ow! Not the ear!" Brock cries out.

Then Thatcher says to Mew, "Know what? In a way, you'll always be my true master."

"Ah, come on. Stop," Mew says, flustered, "Remember, just keep practicing."

"I will. And good luck to you in your gym battle and you and May on your contests," Thatcher says.

Later that evening, Thatcher and the cheer students say their goodbyes to Mew and the others.

Thatcher calls out, "Bye, guys! Thanks for everything! See ya!"

With a cheery farewell, Mew and Thatcher part ways again, both with a renewed faith in the bonds between Pokémon and trainer. But now, it's on to Lavaridge Town and the next gym battle.
