Episode 56: Poetry Commotion
Today, Mew and her friends have finally reached Lavaridge Town.
"There's Lavaridge Town, guys!" Mew says.
After a long journey, Mew and her friends have finally made it to Lavaridge Town. Mew is very excited for her gym battle, but apparently, the town is really more famous for its hot springs.
Soon, May starts eating from a box of something.
"Delicious!" May says, excited.
"What's that you're eating, May?" Mew asks.
"Some of Lavaridge's special snacks; hot spring, hot cross buns," May says.
"Hot spring, what now?" Zinnia asks, confused.
"You wanna try one?" May asks.
"Sure," Zinnia says.
She takes a bun, splits it in half, and feeds herself and Aster a half of the bun.
"Yum, this is delicious," Zinnia says.
Even Aster happily agrees.
"Even the food is all about the hot springs around here," Brock says.
Soon, Max, and Jen notice a group of people laying down as they are covered in sand.
"Look, there are some people buried in the sand over here," Max says.
"That's a sand bath, this town is famous for those, as well," Brock says.
"Yeah. I heard that the heat from the sand is supposed to take away your tiredness," May says.
"Looks really nice, and I bet they're good for Ground and Rock Type Pokemon," Mew says.
"Well, I'm up for a sand bath," Max says.
"Me too," Jen says.
"Well, I like to go to the gym to have my battle, but we can check it out and come back to relax a little before my battle," Mew says.
"Great idea," May says.
"Next stop, Lavaridge Gym," Mew says.
Team Rocket soon shows up in town, tired and exhausted.
"I don't tink we can keep up wit dose twerps," Meowth says.
"Why'd they have to be a journey?" James asks.
"Haven't they ever heard of a daytrip?" Jessie asks.
James looks up, as does Jessie.
And James says, "I seem to recall that this town is called Lavaridge, and it's famous for its hot springs!"
"Hot springs?" Jessie and Meowth.
Jessie squeals in delight, "Then we're saved! I spring, you spring, we all spring for hot springs!"
A little bit later, the trio are relaxing in a hot spring.
Jessie sighs in delight, "This is the life. Nothing like a hot spring to soothe one's soul.
"I guess," James replies.
"Don't we got udder important stuff to take care of?" Meowth asks.
"Will the two of you take a chill pill, please, and just enjoy life for a change? We'll get back on track, but stop raining on my parade. This hot spring is just what the doctor ordered! Jessie says before going up to them, "Don't you see? Once our batteries are recharged, we'll be a whole new Team rocket," She then stands up with her towel wrapped around her body, "Last one into the scented bath is a rotten Exeggcute," and walks away.
James and Meowth just sigh before sinking a bit into the hot water while mumbling something.
Meanwhile, Mew and the others arrive at the gym.
Mew calls out, "Hello? I'm here for a gym battle!?"
"Anyone here?!" Brock calls out.
"Hello!" Zinnia calls out.
"That's weird. I guess there's no one around," Max says.
"Try calling one more time," May says.
"Is anybody here!?" Tomo calls out.
Suddenly, they see a woman with red hair running past with her green robe on fire while shouting it was hot.
"What, is that?" Molly asks.
"I don't know, but she's on fire," Mew says.
Brock quickly calls out his Pokemon, "Mudkip, use Water Gun!"
Mudkip comes out and blasts her with water putting out the flames.
The girl sighs in relief, "What a relief," She then removes her robe to reveal more modern clothing, "Thank you!"
Removing the robe, it reveals the young lady is quite the energetic type. Her red hair is in a spiky ponytail, she has red eyes. She wears a black crop top shirt, with a flame picture on it, blue jeans with a red belt, and black shoes.
Seeing her, Brock gets excited, "You're welcome!" And comes up to her, "Oh, the burning fire is in my heart! Together, we can fan those flames and…"
But then Max grabs his ear and starts to drag him away, "Okay, fireman, Mudkip should've used that Water Gun on you instead of her clothes."
"Not the ear!" Brock cries out.
"How'd your robe catch on fire anyway?" Zinnia asks
"I was training with Mag and Meg," The woman says.
Are they friends of yours?" Mew asks.
Soon, two Slugma approach the young woman on her left and right side.
The girl says, "They're my sweet Slugma. We were all training together, trying to get them to evolve, when their Flamethrowers sort of caught me on fire by accident."
"Yikes," Jen says.
Then the woman asks, "Hey, wait, what are you guys all doing here?"
"I came here for a gym battle!" Mew says.
This has the girl excited, "A gym battle? Alright! A challenger! Finally! I've been waiting so long for a challenger!" Then introduces herself, "I'm Flannery. Howdy," And extends her hand.
"Hi, I'm Ashley, I'm from Pallet Town," Mew says, and takes Flannery's hand.
Then May says, "Hi, Flannery, I'm May."
"And I'm Max," Max says.
"I'm Zinnia, it's nice to meet you," Zinnia says.
"I'm Molly," Molly says.
"My name is Jen," Jen says.
"I'm Tomo," Tomo says.
"Hi. My name is Brock," Brock says, still lovestruck.
Flannery gets excited, "A gym battle! And it's all mine!"
But then Brock realizes something, "Wait a minute, I thought the Lavaridge gym was run by an older man named Mr. Moore."
Flannery then calls out, "Torkoal, now, go!"
Torkoal comes out. Torkoal is a tortoise-like, quadrupedal Pokémon. It has a large, black, rock-like shell with holes that glow with a red warmth. Its skin is reddish-brown with gray-black bands on its legs and neck. It has a long neck and its eyes seem permanently closed.
"Are you ready? Here's some coal!" Flannery calls out and tosses a piece toward Torkoal before it eats it, and snorts smoke out of its nose and the top of its shell, "Yeah! Now, you're ready!"
"Cool! She's got a Torkoal," Mew says, and gets out her Pokedex.
Dextette says, "Torkoal, the Coal Pokémon. A Fire Type. Torkoal burns coal in its body to produce energy. As a defense, Torkoal is able to release smoke from its nostrils and it's back to confuse enemies."
"Wow. That's a really cool Pokémon," Tomo says.
Flannery says, "Okay, Torkoal, let's show him the kind of battle that would make my grandpa proud!
Torkoal let off some smoke in response.
"Well, you sure are fired up," Mew says.
"Sure am," Flannery says.
Suddenly, Max leaps in between them, "Hold on! You guys can't just battle outside the gym!"
"Max does have a point. We can't do our battle out here," Mew says.
"That's true. All gym battles should be fought in an official gym, aren't they?" Flannery says.
"Yes," Max replies, a bit flabbergasted.
They head inside, but they're all shocked to see the state the battlefield is. It practically has holes all over the place.
"Wait, this is your gym's battlefield?" Tomo asks, shocked.
"It's a mess," Brock says.
"It looks like a group of Diglett went through here," Mew says.
"Or even Sandshrews," Zinnia adds.
Flannery sheepishly says, "Yeah, well, now that you mention it, I do seem to remember that my opponent in the last battle really liked to use Dig a lot. Sorry about that, I got so caught up in training my Slugma I sort of forgot to clean up. Oh, well."
A bit later, the group are inside having a drink.
Flannery places the tray of drinks on the table.
"Good time for some iced tea, am I right? Flannery says.
"That looks great, thanks," Mew says.
Then Max asks, "So, Flannery, what are the rules for your gym?"
"I think grandpa always changed things around based on his opponents," Flannery says.
"Come on. Are you really the gym leader here?" Max asks.
May turns to Max, "Max stop it."
"I'm the Lavaridge gym leader alright!" Flannery says with confidence, "The gym leader for three days."
Mew is so shocked at the news that she spits some of his orange drink onto the table.
"Only three days?! Really?!" Mew asks, shocked.
"Yeah, before that, my grandpa was the gym leader," Flannery says.
"Tell us a little about your grandpa," May says.
"Yeah. What's he like?" Tomo asks.
"Everyone knew him as Old Man Moore," Flannery says, "And boy, did he ever have a strong Typhlosion."
Flashback:
Flannery has flashbacks to when it was defeating opponents left and right, first a Vileplume, then a Doduo, and then a Breloom.
Flannery continues, "They were an absolutely unbeatable team, but then, all of a sudden one day, he started to really get into Pokémon poetry."
As Flannery talks, she remembers her grandfather making a poem about a Politoed.
"You're kidding," Tomo asks.
"Nope," Flannery says, "He even started a Pokémon Poetry Club. One of his old friends, named Gavin, came out with a whole book of Pokémon poetry called 'The Hidden Byway'. It became a bestseller, at least among the older crowd. They just couldn't get enough. It tells through poetry of his travels and encounters with Pokémon."
Flannery remembers the day she and her older neighbors who were part of the Pokémon Poetry Club saw him off.
Flannery says, "With almost everyone there to say goodbye to him, grandpa was off."
Flashback Ends:
"Well that explains how you became the gym leader without knowing too much about it," Max says.
"I guess so," Flannery says.
Then Mew says, "Hey, I know! We can help you clean up and fix the battlefield. Then we can really have a battle."
Pikachu and Eevee agree.
"I say that's a great idea," Max says, "After all, a gym leader isn't just responsible for battling against challengers, but for maintaining the gym as well."
"Pretty good insight, kid," Zinnia says.
"Well, that's what my dad says," Max says.
Flannery responds, "What? Your dad?"
"Sorry about that. See, our dad is the leader of the Petalburg gym," May says.
Flannery is amazed, "Wow! You're Norman's kids?!"
And Brock comes up, "I, too, happen to be part of a family that runs a gym, the Pewter gym in Kanto! The leader of the gym is my father, which means you and I would be a perfect fit."
Max then grabs Brock by the ear, "Enough!" and pulls him away, "Let's get you out of here before she has a fit!"
Soon, the team is ready, with shovels in hand.
"Cleanup crew ready?" Molly happily says.
"Let's go!" Everyone cheers.
Flannery looks up and out to the horizon, "Grandpa, while you're out traveling, I hope you're keeping an eye on me in spirit."
Elsewhere, her grandpa was looking over Lavaridge.
Mr. Moore says, "Even though I'm loving my journey, I'm just so worried about my little Flannery. I hope she's doing alright with all her gym leader duties."
Suddenly, he overhears some elderly people coming his way, who state that he had been away for only three days before hiding behind a tree.
"I can't very well go back, especially not after that sendoff they gave me," Mr. Moore says to himself.
Meanwhile, the cleanup work was going smoothly. Everyone is either moving the rocks, or filling up the massive holes with dirt.
Flannery apologizes, "Sorry for this mess, guys, but believe it or not, I was actually planning on doing this cleanup work myself."
"We don't mind," Mew says.
"That way we'll get to the gym battle even faster," Max says.
Far away from the gym, Mr. Moore was watching.
Mr. Moore is in tears, "Oh, no! Flannery didn't even take care of the battlefield like she was supposed to. Having her opponents help her is an absolute disgrace!"
Little did Mr. Moore know that Team Rocket was spying as well.
"You know, I'm starting to see the world in a whole new light after that little soak," Jessie says.
And Meowth says, "Well, let me shed some more light on you, da twerk are here at dis gym."
Then James says, "And it appears the gym leader has a Torkoal. That's a fire Pokémon, right, Meowth?"
Then Meowth says, "It sure is, and it'll make a swell gift for da boss."
"Well? Details? Details!" James says.
A fantasy scenario begins.
Meowth says, "Kay, there's gonna be a time when da boss needs a fire. Maybe he barbecuing down by the river, or wherever there's a power outage, that Torkoal can lighten things up."
"Yes. I hear ya," Jessie says.
And Meowth says, "You know what he'll say, 'That was awfully kind and generous of Meowth and his friends to give me that Torkal and I'm impressed.
Scenario ends.
"Say it with me! Big promotion, a corner office and lots of money!" Meowth says, excited.
But James questions, "Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't a lighter be easier?"
"A stupid 99 cent lighter couldn't hold a candle to a Torckal, ya dimwitted, dumbbell dope?!"
"It's settled! Time to catch that Torkoal!" Jessie says, but looks to her left and sees Mr. Moore spying, "What?"
James notices Mr. Moore too, "Why is that guy doing what we're doing and spying on the gym?"
Meowth also notices, "Maybe it's an undercover member of Team Magma."
"That, or Team Aqua, so we better be careful," Jessie says.
Mr. Moore then turns and sees Team Rocket looking at him.
James sheepishly says, "Hello."
Both parties vamoose.
Max and May finish their glasses of iced tea.
"Yummy!" May happily says.
Then Max asks, "Hey, Flannery, what's the badge here? After all, you'll need to be ready to give it to Ashley if she wins."
"Well, I don't plan on losing," Flannery says.
"No, but you should have one ready anyway," Brock says.
"I think I remember that you give out Heat Badges," Mew says.
Soon, the group is in Flannery's grandpa's office.
Flannery searches around, "Oh, where are they? I think grandpa always kept his badges in a small safe."
Outside the gym, Mr. Moore continues to spy, "I know I move them around every week so they'd never be stolen, but you should know where I put them! Come on, Flannery!"
Back in the office, the search had little luck.
"They're gone!" Flannery says.
Soon, someone arrives, "Excuse me."
Flannery turns and sees a man in shorts and a Hawaiian shirt at the doorway.
"I'm sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if I could use your restroom, please," The man says.
"Sure, it's down the hall," Flannery says, pointing to the direction.
"And, if you would be so kind, I will be needing some tissue, as well," The man says, and walks into the bathroom, "Here it is! Hey, there's a safe in here!" He then takes it down from the shelf and opens it, all the while, Flannery was watching, "Would you look at this! Are these the gym's badges?" and hands the safe over.
"So that's where they were!" Flannery says.
"You're welcome," The man says quietly, and walks out of the bathroom.
"Hi, who are you?" May asks.
"Oh, me? I'm just passing through," The man says.
Flannery walks out, "You needed the bathroom.
The man stops, "I uh, just realized that there is one in my hotel room," and walks away, "Bye bye." and soon he's gone.
"That guy seemed weird," Zinnia says.
"Well, weird or not, at least he found the badges for you," Brock says.
"Can I see?" Max asks.
They all look inside and find five badges, shaped like a wisp of fire.
"I think I should get a little bit more organized," Flannery says.
"Maybe, but perhaps your grandfather should have let you know where it is before he left," Mew says.
"Maybe," Flannery says.
A bit later, it's back to work repairing the battlefield.
"So, you do have a judge for the gym battle, don't you?" Max asks.
"Oh no!" Flannery says, shocked.
"Figures," Max says, dumbfounded.
"One of grandpa's students always did it," Flannery says.
"Where are they?" Mew asks.
"They're all on vacation since grandpa left on his trip," Flannery says.
"Oh no," Molly says.
"You can't have a gym battle without a judge," Max says.
"Yeah, I know," Flannery says, biting her thumb.
Soon, the doorbell is heard, and everyone heads to the gym entrance to find another stranger.
"Can I help you, sir?" Flannery asks.
"I'm with the Pokémon Gym Judging Committee, PGJC for short. So, I'm a qualified Pokémon battling judge," The man says.
"PGJC?" Max questions.
"First time I've heard of it," Brock says.
"Yeah," Mew says.
"Really? I was sent here at the request of the previous gym leader, Mr. Moore," The judge says.
"My grandpa?" Flannery says, and is happy, "I knew he was worried about me."
"In my honest opinion, your grandpa should've made sure you were more prepared before he went on his trip," Max says.
Mew and Tomo nod their heads in response.
The 'judge' coughs.
"That's a nasty cough," Molly says.
"Oh, don't worry about me," The judge responds.
"Great, now that we've got a judge, we're almost ready for my battle! Let's get back to fixing the field!" Mew says.
Then the judge says, "If you don't mind, I could lend a hand."
Soon, everyone is back to work.
"I still think that Flannery's grandpa was acting pretty irresponsible for leaving her on her own to run the gym like that," Max says.
"I have to agree. He needed to be more prepared since Flannery is new at being a gym leader," Mew adds.
They heard the 'judge' coughing again.
"Sir, are you sure you're not sick?" Jen asks.
"I'm fine," the judge says.
Flannery says, "When grandpa usually gets something stuck in his head, he just can't seem to think of anything else."
The judge nervously says, "Well, I guess I know how he feels."
Soon, the doorbell rings again.
"Now who could it be?" Flannery wonders.
Suddenly, Jessie and James burst in while wearing construction worker disguises.
"Hi!" Jessie says.
"Excuse us," James says.
Everyone approaches.
"Who are you two?" Flannery asks.
"We're a gym repair crew, we make sure official Pokémon League gyms are in tip-top shape," Jessie says.
"You could say we're professionals in gym maintenance," James says.
"I've never heard of gym repair crews, either," Brock says.
"Well, you know that Pokémon attacks can wreak havoc on a gym battlefield," Jessie says.
And James says, "And what we see is a pretty good job at repairing major terraform damage."
"But I think now's a good time to have first class professionals like us help you finish the job," Jessie says.
"Clear as day, won't you please help us out?" Flannery says.
"Of course!" Jessie says.
Jessie and James happily say, "We're humbly at your service!"
Jessie whispers to James, "Say, isn't that old coot in the Pokémon judge uniform the same one that was snooping around the gym a while back?"
James whispers, "Yes, you're right. We'll keep an eye on him, just in case he's an undercover Magma or Aqua operative."
Mr. Moore says in thought, "Those two are the same characters I saw scoping out my gym. And what's up with those dopey disguises?"
And with that, the gang continues cleaning the gym.
James soon rolls a wheelbarrow up to Torkoal, "Okay, let's see here. What needs to be repaired? Well, from the looks of it the turf still needs to be flattened," and quietly says, "Hit it!"
And Meowth leaps out from the barrow, "Right!
Meowth tries to lift Torkoal, but can't because Torkoal is too heavy for him to carry.
Meowth mumbles, "Dis ting weighs a ton!"
The noise gets Mr. Moore's attention
Jessie quietly rushes over, "What's taking you so long? Gimme that!" She then lifts Torkoal and Meowth up and puts them in the wheelbarrow.
Mr. Moore spots the robbery and calls out, " Flannery… I mean, young girl, it's your Torkoal!"
Everyone else rushes over.
Mr. Moore confronts them, "These two hoodlums and a Meowth were trying to steal your Torkoal!"
"Forget it!" Flannery says, not having it, "Who are you?!
And Team Rocket performs their motto.
Jessie:
Prepared for trouble, hoodlums, eh?
James:
Make it double, that's what I say!
Jessie:
To protect the world from devastation.
James:
To unite all peoples within our nation.
Jessie:
To denounce the evils of truth and love.
James:
To extend our reach to the stars above.
Jessie: (removes her disguise)
Jessie!
James: (removes his disguise)
James!
Jessie:
Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!
James:
Surrender now, or prepare to fight, fight, fight!
Meowth:
Meowth! Dat's right!
"Team Rocket!" Max, Tomo, Jen, and Molly exclaim.
Jessie then calls out her Pokemon, "Seviper, Haze, now!"
Seviper comes out and spreads the Haze, blinding everyone.
"Buh-bye!" Team Rocket says and makes their escape.
The Haze quickly disperses.
"Oh, no! They're gone!" May cries out.
They soon spot the balloon in the sky, and the gang gives chase.
"Get back here!" Mew calls out.
"They've got my Torkoal! They won't get away!" Flannery says.
"You've got that right!" Mr. Moore says.
The group follows the balloon closely as they make a left at a fork in the road.
Mew gets out her Pokeball, "Okay, Taillow, time to burst that…"
But Mr. Moore beats her to it, "I'll handle this! Go, Wingull!"
Wingull comes out.
Flannery soon notices it, "Hey, my grandpa has a Wingull too, just like that judge."
Mr. Moore calls out, "Wingull, punch a hole in that hot air balloon!"
Wingull does just that, bursting it completely and forcing the balloon basket to crash land.
"I need a lawyer," Meowth says.
Soon, the group rushes over.
"That's as far as you're going to get, Team Rocket!" Tomo says.
"That's my Torkoal you've got, so hand it over!" Flannery demands.
"When Muk fly!" Jessie says.
"Tell that to my Corphish!" Mew says.
But Mr. Moore beats her to it again, "Leave it to me! Typhlosion, I choose you!"
Typhlosion soon comes out, and Flannery is surprised, "Typhlosion?"
Jessie then calls out, "Seviper, let's go!"
And Seviper comes out of the Pokeball.
James then calls out, "Cacnea, you, too!"
Cacnea comes out, but hugs James instead.
James cries out, "The other way!"
Jessie calls out, "Poison Tail, Seviper!"
Seviper performs the attack and lands hard on Typhlosion's left shoulder, forcing it back.
Mr. Moore then calls out, "Typhlosion, use Tackle, now!"
Typhlosion performs Tackle and it lands, knocking the wind out of Seviper.
"Pin Missile, Cacnea!" James calls out.
Cacnea fires the attack.
Flannery then calls out, "Go, Mag!"
Mag the Slugma comes out.
Flannery then calls out, "Ember!"
Mag fires the attack and powers through the Pin Missile.
Jessie calls out, "Seviper, use Wrap!"
Seviper closes in
Mr. Moore then calls out, "Typhlosion, Flamethrower, now!"
Typhlosion fires the attack and lands hard.
James calls out, "Cacnea, Pin Missile!"
As James orders the attack, Max, May, and Jen past them behind some bushes to try and rescue Torkoal unnoticed, all the while Cacnea gets sent flying back by a Flamethrower that Mr. Moore ordered
Mac unties the bag, "We're going to get you out, Torkoal," and frees it.
"Are you okay?" May asks.
Torkoal confirms and they all lift Torkoal up to carry it away, until...
"Freeze twoips!" Meowth says, confronting them, and leaps at them with his claws unsheathed
Flannery then calls out, "Use Flamethrower, Mag!"
Mag launches the attack and sends Meowth flying to the side.
"Ready, guys?" May asks.
The two nod. And all three carry Torkoal away.
James then calls out, "Cacnea, Needle Arm, go!"
"Bite attack, Seviper!" Jessie calls out.
Cacnea closes in and winds up its arm before it starts glowing as Seviper darts in with fangs ready.
Flanner calls out, "Mag, Flamethrower, again!"
The attack lands and hits both Pokémon before Slugma lets out a victory call, only to start glowing red afterwards, surprising everyone.
"Oh, my!" Flannery says, surprised.
Mew says, "Check out your Slugma!"
"Dat Slugma's evolving!" Meowth says.
As everyone talks, Mag morphs until it gets bigger and gains a shell before the glow fades to reveal its new form, as Magcargo.
Flannery cheers, "Yay! Mag evolved into a Magcargo!"
Mr. Moore approaches her granddaughter, unaware that his disguise was coming off.
"A job well done, Flannery!" Mr. Moore says, excited.
Flannery happily says, "Thank you, grandpa! Thanks!"
Flannery then realized who she was talking to, "Grandpa?"
Mr. Moore tries to get his disguise straightened out, but it falls off.
Mr. Moore sheepishly laughs, "Guess the Skitty's out of the bag."
Mew and the others are shocked to see who the judge really is.
"Are you Flannery's grandfather?" May asks.
"You're Mr. Moore?" Jen asks, surprised.
Then Brock approaches Mr. Moore, "Hi. Maybe I should start calling you grandpa too."
"What?" Mr. Moore responds, confused.
Max then grabs Brock's ears, "Come on!" and drags him away, "And I'll just call you crazy."
"Not, the…" Brock cries out.
Flabbergasted Jessie says, "He was in disguise, spying on his own granddaughter and house?"
"Yes, it would appear he was," James says, just as flabbergasted.
"Oookay. At least he isn't part of Team Magma or Team Aqua," Meowth adds, feeling the same.
They all regain their composure.
Jessie says, "Now, where were we?"
James calls out, "Pin Missile!"
Cacnea fires the attack.
But Flannery calls out, "Mag, Flamethrower!"
Mag fires the attack.
Mr. Moore does the same, "You too, Typhlosion!"
Typhlosion fires the attack.
Both attacks send Seviper flying back to the downed balloon basket and sending Cacnea flying into Team Rocket, sending them into the basket, as well.
Mew then calls out, "Pikachu! Eevee! Thunderbolt 'em!"
The Thunderbolt strikes at them, and Team Rocket is sent blasting off.
As they fly, Jessie cries out, "All I asked for was a little bit of rest!"
"But we did get some rest," James says.
"We battled da tweps and da rest is history," Meowth says.
Jessie cries out, "We're blasting off again!"
"Relax," James says.
"Yeah," Meowth says.
Mr. Moore checks out Torkoal, "And it looks like Torkoal is just fine."
Torkoal snorts out smoke as a confirmation
Flannery turns to her grandfather, "So, grandpa, why did you come back?"
"Well, I guess I was just worried about you," Mr. Moore says.
"Grandpa, you're still a big worrywart," Flannery says with a smile.

Later that evening, the battlefield was finished.
"It's good as new!" Everyone cheers.
"How can I possibly thank you all?" Mr. Moore asks.
"I know, with a gym battle," Mew says.
"Yeah," Flannery says.
Mr. Moore then says, "But the day is nearly over. Let's save the battle for tomorrow. You all must be exhausted, why don't you all experience one of the town's famous sand baths?"
"Really? You got sand baths here?" Brock asks.
Everyone cheers.
Then Brock comes up to Flannery, "Nothing like a sand bath will heat up our romance."
Max grabs Brock by the ear, making him scream, "OW!"
"We'll warm up while you cool down," Max says as Brock cries out, "Ow! Ow! Not the ear!"
Zinnia turns to Mew, "Is your friend Brock always like this?"
"Yes…" Mew answers with a sigh, "Yes he is."
A bit later, some of the group was buried.
Mr. Moore says, "There. How does that feel?"
Brock sighs, "It's awesome."
"Heavenly," May says.
"It's so relaxing," Jen says.
"It's perfect," Max says.
"Yeah, but I can't wait for tomorrow's battle," Mew says.
But Flannery teases, "You can't wait to get beat?"
"You mean when you get beat," Mew says.

And Mr. Moore says, "If I may, a poem; "As the sun sets, Pikachu gets, a well-deserved rest."
"Not bad, Mr. Moore," Zinnia says.
