Episode 58: The Revolving Poke-Sitter
Now that Mew has won a Heat Badge after battling with Flannery at the Lavaridge Town, she and her friends make their way to Lumina City where Mew will be competing for her next ribbon. Right now, Mew and her friends are having a lunch break.
"This tastes really great, Brock," Zinnia says.
"Thanks Zinnia, I'm glad you like it," Brock says.
"We knew you love Brock's cooking," May says.
"Brock is the best," Jen says.
May then turns to Mew, "So Mew, which Pokemon will you be using for the Pokemon Contest."
"Hmm," Mew replies, beginning to think, "I have a few ideas in mind. I have Floette, Jigglypuff, Vivillon, and other Pokemon, even Togetic."
"So you're having trouble deciding," Max says.
"That's right. I still need to practice and train with my Pokemon, to prepare for the contest," Mew says.
"That's a good idea," Tomo says.
Then May says, "Hey Mew, maybe you and I can have a battle. That way you and I can practice our contest battles and you can decide which Pokemon to use."
"Great idea," Mew says.
"Yeah," Max says.
Then Tomo says, "Hey Max, you wanna do some training with me and Jen?"
"Sure," Max answers.
"Well then, let's finish having lunch and help with some training," Brock says.
"Yeah," Everyone agrees.
The group of friends continue having their lunch as they talk about the contest ideas Mew and May should do. Unknown to them, there is a pair of eyes, spying on the group.
After having lunch, Mew and May are ready for their contest battle.
Mew then brings out her Pokeball and calls out, "Alright Floette, I choose you!"
And with that, her White Floette has come out and is ready to battle.
"Aww, what a cute pokemon," May says.
"Thanks," Mew says, "This is Floette."
Taking out her Pokedex, "May says, "It sure is cute."
Soon, Dextette says, "Floette, the Single Blook Pokemon. A Fairy Type. When the flowers of a well-tended flower bed bloom, it appears and celebrates with an elegant dance. Floette that are fond of white flowers can also easily sync with flowers of other colors."
"You know, I read that a White Flabebe is pretty rare," Max says.
"That's really nice," Zinnia says.
"Alright then, I choose Skitty," May says and calls out her Pokemon.
Skitty comes out and lets out a meow.
"Alright then, ready to get started," Mew says.
"Ready," May says.
Then Mew makes the first move, "Alright Floette, let's start off with Razor Leaf."
And with that, Floette starts off with the first attack.
May calls out, "Skitty, dodge! And use Assist!"
Skitty dodges the Razor Leaf attack and uses Assist. The Assist attack fires a String Shot.
"Looks like Skitty got String Shot," May says.
"Floette, use Fairy Wind!" Mew calls out.
Floette then performs Fairy Wind, which is strong and beautiful. It's enough to cause Skitty's String Shot to move around and end up getting spinned. The String Shot is cut off and ends up spinning around and flies off.
"Now, use Magical Leaf," Mew calls out.
And with that Floette performs Magical Leaf and combines with the Fairy Wind and hits Skitty with force.
"Skitty!" May cris out.
Skitty lands on the ground.
"Skitty, are you okay?" May asks.
Skitty stands up and mananges to regain herself.
"Alright Skitty, time to give it a Double Slap!" May calls out.
Skitty charges and Floette tries to dodge from the Double Slap Attack. And soon, Floette ends up getting swatted and is sent a distance towards Mew.
"You good, Floette?" Mew asks.
Floette regains herself.
"Great Floette," Mew says.
Then May calls out, " Skitty, use Assist, once more.
Skitty then uses Assist, and this time, it ends up firing Silver Wind Attack.
"Here comes a Silver Wind!" Mew cries out.
The Silver Wind ends up pushing Floette back and gets blown up into the air.
Mew then calls out, "Floette, use Vine Whip at the tree branch!"
Floette then uses Vine Whip to catch the tree, swings it, and throws herself up in the air to dodge the Silver Wind and begins flying over Skitty.
Then Mew calls out, "Now Floette, use Swift!"
Floette then performs the attack towards Skitty.
"Quick, dodge and use Assist once more!" May calls out.
Skitty quickly dodges and uses the attack. This time is Ember.
"Safeguard!" Mew calls out.
Floette then performs Safeguard.
"Now, use Moonblast!" Mew calls out.
And with that, Floette performs Moonblast that counters the ember and causes explosions of sparkles to spread. And with that, the attack hits Skitty and sends her flying.
"Skitty!" May cries out.
Soon, Skitty lands on the ground and is knocked out.
"Skitty is unable to battle. Floette wins," Brock announces.
"Alright. You were great, Floette," Mew says.
"Floette," (Thank you.) Floette says.
May kneels to Skitty, "Hey Skitty, are you okay?"
Skitty meows in response.
"That's good," May says.
Mew walks to May, "That was a great battle, May."
"Yeah. And Floette is strong," May says.
"Thanks May," Mew says.
Floette then turns to Mew, "Flo Flo Floette. Flo Flo Floette." (Mew, can I have the Shiny Stone? I think I'm ready to evolve.)
"Really? You want to evolve?" Mew asks.
Floette nods in response.
"Okay Floette," Mew says.
Mew then walks to her bag, reaches inside, and pulls out the Shiny Stone.
"Here you go, Floette. One Shiny Stone," Mew says.
Floette is happy and places her tiny hand on the stone. And with that, Floette begins to glow, and then begins to grow and changes her shape as she evolves. Everyone watches as they see Floette growing and evolving, until it reaches its evolved form. When the glow is gone, Floette has evolved. Now it's a predominantly white Pokémon with a green lower body. It has long white ears and long green eyelashes. Florges's head is small and it's eyes are half-closed with black irises and a short snout with a mouth and no visible nose. Its head has 'hair' that resembles flowers that is a really nice white color. Its chest has two black markings resembling a bow. Florges's arms are long with three fingers and it has a long waist with legs resembling leaves.
"Floette evolved," Jen happily says.
"Wow. She looks so beautiful," Zinnia says.
"But what is she now?" May asks.
"She's a Florges, May," Mew says as she brings out her Pokedex.
Dextette says, "Florges, The Garden Pokemon, and the evolved form of Floette. A Fairy Type. It claims exquisite flower gardens as its territory, and it obtains power from basking in the energy emitted by flowering plants. A flower garden made by a white-flowered Florges will be beautifully decorated with flowering plants of many different colors."
"She looks really pretty," Molly says.
" She's lovely," Jen says.
"And she looks strong too," Max says.
"She certainly is," Mew says.
"Maybe you should have Florges be in the Pokemon Contest. I'm sure you can come up with great performances," May suggests.
Mew turns to Florges, "What do you think, Florges? You wanna be part of the Pokemon Contest in Lumina City?"
"Flor Flor," (Of course.) Florges answers with a nod.
However, unknown to the group, the same mysterious eyes continue to watch over the group, and see how Mew can talk to her Pokemon normally.
"Alright Florges, now all that is decided, we should start practicing on our Contest Performance," Mew says.
"Sounds good," May says.
Then says, "Maybe I should practice for my next contest."
"Sounds like a good idea," Mew says.
"And with that, Mew and May take their leave to come up with a contest performance. Since Mew's contest is coming up, she has to start practicing with Florges. Unknown to the girls, the mysterious figure of the eyes secretly begins following them.
Max turns to Tomo, "You wanna have a battle."
"Yeah," Tomo says.
And with that, the two boys begin to set up for their battle.
Max calls out, "Poochyena, I choose you!"
Tomo then calls out, "Alright Skwovet, lets go!"
Skwovet jumps into the battlefield as Poochyena comes out of the Pokeball.
"Poochyena, use Tackle!" Max calls out.
Poochyena charges for the attack.
Tomo calls out, "Dodge and use Bullet Seed!"
Skwovet dodges and performs Bullet Seed, hitting Poochyena. Luckily, Poochyena is still standing.
"Alright Poochyena, give it your Sand Attack!" Max calls out.
And Poochyena kicks sand in Skwovet's face.
Meanwhile, Mew and May are practicing for their contest.
"Florges, let's start off with Fairy Wind!" Mew calls out.
And with that, Florges begins performing Fairy Wind.
"And now, add Magical Leaf!" Mew calls out.
And with that, Magical Leaf flies and is into the cycle of the Fairy Wind, and they cycle together.
"And then, Petal Dance!" Mew calls out.
Florges, then adds the Petal Dance, and it's looking very beautiful and magical.
"Wow. It looks amazing," May says.
"Thanks. It's lovely with the flower petals, the wind, and the leaves. It's like we're the windy flower garden," Mew says happily.
She then calls out, "And now, Solar Beam!"
And with that Florges performs the Solar Beam, firing at the center of the cycle. That causes an explosion, and scatters the flower petals, leaves, and light sparkles around.
"I think it's great," Mew says.
"Yeah. I think you'll win your second ribbon for sure," May says.
"I sure hope so," Mew says.
"I know so," May says and is confident about it.
Mew smiles, "Thanks May."
Florges smiles, but is also kind of exhausted.
"I'm guessing you're tired huh," Mew says.
Florges nods in response.
Then Mew gets out her Pokeball, "It's understandable. The battle, you evolving, and doing contest performance practice, you are feeling tired. You get a good rest," and calls back Florges into the Pokeball.
Then May asks, "Hey Mew, there is something I've wanted to ask."
"What's that?" Mew asks.
"Well, I remember you mentioned promising your Skitty to evolve after learning Thunderbolt. When did that happen?" May asks.
"Oh, it actually happened sometime after I returned to Kanto before going to Hoenn," Mew says.
She then explains, "You see, while Eevee, Pikachu, and I were training, Skitty became interested in learning Thunderbolt. He managed to do a little bit of it before we left. And he also likes to evolve. So we both came to an agreement that I let Skitty evolve once she perfected Thunderbolt, and he had. He really did a great job."
"He certainly did, it's almost as powerful as Pikachu and Eevee's," May says.
"I'm sure Skitty thanks you," Mew says.
May and Mew giggle with smiles on their faces.
"I think I'm going to go for a little walk," Mew says.
"Okay. I'm going to practice with Skitty and Mudkip," May says.
Mew turns to Pikachu and Eevee, "Pikachu. Eevee. Can you both stay with May while I'm on my walk? And maybe I can find some berries for us."
Pikachu and Eevee nod their heads in response.
"Okay, I'll be back," Mew says and takes her leave.
Mew then takes her leave to go on a walk in the forest and see if she can find some berries for everyone.
May then calls out her Pokemon, "Come on out Mudkip."
And soon, little Mudkip comes out.
"Okay Mudkip. I know a little early to learn how to be in Contests, but maybe we can help you learn how to use some attacks," May says.
Mudkip happily says, "Yay practicing!" (Mudkip mud!) and wags its tail with glee.
Pikachu and Eevee giggle with smiles on their faces.
Walking through the woods, Mew is having a relaxing time to feel the cool air, and see the trees and bushes around.
Mew takes a deep breath, "It's been a while since I've decided to go out for a walk."
She continues walking through the woods as she watches the Pokemon either walking on the ground, flying around, or relaxing in the trees. Mew smiles to see the nice day, and a good time to relax.
Mew soon notices a nice calm river where some of the Pokemon are drinking from.
"Wow. the river looks so beautiful," Mew says, and looks at the river.
She then looks to her left to notice a few bushes full of ripe Oran Berries.
"Wow. Those Oran Berries look very big," Mew says, and picks one of the berries.
She eats one and says, "Mmmmm. It's so delicious and sweet. These are so ripe. The others would like this," And with that, Mew begins to pick some berries.
Suddenly, Mew hears rustling in the bushes right in front of her. She looks at it and asks, "Um, hello. Is anyone there?"
Just then, coming out of the bushes is an amphibious Pokémon that resembles an upside-down squid. It has sinister-looking yellow eyes with light purple eyelids that have a squinted appearance. It has a magenta beak for a mouth. It has a fringe of bluish tentacles sprouting from its head, and an oblong deep purple body with yellow patches and spots that form a pattern on its belly. Two long arm-like tentacles sprout from its shoulders; they are magenta and pastel purple in color, with white fins at the tips. It stands upright on two large white sharp-edged fins on either side of its lower body, which it uses as legs.
Mew says in thought, "It's a Malamar. I've never seen one up close before."
Mew then speaks out to the Pokemon, "Hello, Malamar. Is there anything I can do for you?"
So far, the Pokemon stares at her as it tilts its head.
Mew then presents a berry, "Do you want a berry? This Oran Berry is very sweet and ripe."
"Malamar," (No thank you.) The Pokemon says.
"Um okay. What is it you want?" MEw asks.
Just then, the Pokemon begins emitting a flashing light on its body. Mew ends up starting at the light, and she begins to fall into a daze. Mew drops her arms to the side, dropping the berries.
The Pokemon lifts its tentacle and gestures back as it says, "Mal Malamar. (Come. I need your assistance.)
Mew nods and begins to follow the Pokemon into the woods.
Back at the camp, Brock, Jen, Zinnia, and Molly watched the battle. Soon, Poochyena and Skwovet end up falling on the ground after their attacks knocks each other down and both of them have been knocked out.
"Well, looks like the battle ended in a draw," Brock says.
"Seems so," Molly says.
Max then recalls Poochyena, "Return." Once it returns, Max says, "You did great Poochyena, you get a good rest."
Tomo picks up Skwovet, "That was a great battle. You deserve some rest."
Then turns to Max, "You did great, Max. Poochyena was great, too."
"Thanks Tomo, you and your Skowvet are pretty strong," Max says.
"Thanks," Tomo says.
"You both had a great battle," Brock says.
"Yeah. You will become great Pokemon Trainers in no time," Zinnia says.
"Thanks Zinnia," Max says.
Jen looks around, "I wonder how May and Mew are doing."
"Here she comes now," Molly says.
The group turns to see May, Pikachu, and Eevee walking over, looking worried.
"Hey May, where's Mew?" Brock asks.
"I don't know. Mew decided to go on a walk and she didn't come back yet. I came to check to see if she came back here," May says.
"That doesn't sound like her," Jen says.
"Maybe we should go find her," Zinnia says.
Everyone agrees with the idea, and begins their search.
Meanwhile, the Pokemon continues leading Mew through the forest as she is still in a deep daze.
"Mal Mal Malamar," (Come now, we're almost there.) The Pokemon says.
Mew says in a monotone voice, "Okay," and continues following to the destination.
Still in the forest, Pikachu, Eevee, Tomo and Jen's Growlithe, along with Max's Poochyena are sniffing around to pick up Mew's scent. Brock and the others continue searching around.
"I don't see her," Molly says.
"Me neither," May says.
"I'm starting to get worried," Brock says.
Suddenly, Poochyena barks and runs forward. The other Pokemon follow from behind.
"Poochyena picks up on something," Max says.
"Let's go," Brock says.
The rest of the group follow the Pokemon and soon reach the river from earlier. The Pokemon soon reaches the Oran Berry bush.
Poochyena barks in response.
"Poochyena said that he found her scent here," Tomo says.
Then his Growlithe also barks, "And my Growlithe said that it noticed a Pokemon's scent close by."
"A Pokemon?" Brock questions.
"You don't think the Pokemon took Mew?" Molly asks, worried.
"Well, maybe a Pokemon needed some help and Mew decided to go with it to find out the situation," Max says.
"Maybe," Brock says.
Suddenly, they hear a voice, "Gloom Gloom." (A Malamar took her.)
The group turns to see a Gloom approaching them.
"It's a Gloom," May says.
"It seems to know where Mew is," Tomo says.
"Really?" Max asks.
"Yes. It said that a Malamra took her," Tomo says.
"Gloom Gloom Gloom Gloom Gloom." (Yes. A Malamar hypnotized a human girl and took her. I think that's your friends.) The Gloom says.
"A Malamar hypnotized Mew and took her?!" Tomo asks, shocked.
The group is shocked to hear it.
"That's not good," Jen says.
May brings out her Pokedex, "Let's see what the Pokedex says about Malamar."
Soon, Dextette says, "Malamar, the Overturning Pokemon. A Dark and Psychic Type. Gazing at its luminescent spots will quickly induce a hypnotic state, putting the observer under Malamar's control. It lures its prey close with hypnotic motions, then wraps its tentacles around it before finishing it off with digestive fluids."
"That's not good," Zinnia says.
"We gotta find Mew," Tomo says.
Further ahead in the forest, the Pokemon known as Malamar continues leading Mew closer to their destination. And wherever it is, it seems very determined to bring Mew there.
Time has passed, and Malamar has taken Mew to the destination. And with a tap of the tentacles, Mew snaps out of Malamar's hypnotic powers.
Mew shakes her head and looks around, "Wha-what happened? Where am I?"
Mew turns to see the Pokemon who she has met.
"Malamar," Mew says, surprised. She then asks, "What's going on? Why did you bring me here?"
Malamara soon removes some leaves to reveal eight Pokemon eggs. Each egg has pink and white on the top and blue color on the bottom. With yellow circles at the front.
"They're eggs," Mew says.
Malamar then says, "Mal Mal Malamar Mal Mal Mal Malamar Malamar," (I need to ask you to watch over my eggs. I need to find a new place to live and gather food for them, and I can't leave them alone for long."
"Oh, so you need me to watch your eggs?" Mew asks.
Malamar nods in response.
"Okay. I'll watch over them," Mew says.
Malamar nods happily, "Malamar. Mal Malamar." (Thank you. I won't be gone long.)
And with that Malamar takes its leave and leaves Mew to take care of the eggs. Mew then sits down and watches over them. Then she takes out her own Pokemon Egg and tends to it as well.
"Well, it looks like I'll be babysitting for a while," Mew says.
Meanwhile, the rest of Mew's friends search around for Mew as the Pokemon try to follow the scent.
"I wonder how far that Malamar could have taken Mew," Jen wonders.
"I don't know, but I hope she'll be okay," May says.
Brock then wonders, "I wonder why Malamar took Mew. I'm sure it has a reason."
"Maybe, but we won't know until we find them," Zinnia says.
"Wherever she is, that Malamara took her very far from the camp," Max says.
"I hope Mew's okay," Molly says.
Meanwhile, Mew continues to watch over Malamar's eggs as she also takes care of her own. Mew soon notices at least two of Malamar's eggs glow a flash.
"Oh…" Mew says, surprised, "They flash. Which means that they'll hatch soon," and then, her Pokemon egg begins to flash a little as well, "And apparently, so does mine."
Mew wonders, "I hope Malamar is able to find a home and some food in time."
Continuing their search, Brock and the others follow the Pokemon. Suddenly, the Pokemon stops and hears something.
"What is it guys?" Tomo asks.
The Pokemon stand on end and look ahead. The trainers do the same and to their shock, Malamara is floating by with tentacles of berries and other fruits.
"It's Malamar," Max says.
"I wonder where it's going," May wonders.
Then Brock says, "Let's follow it. If we follow Malamar, it might lead us to Mew."
Everyone nods in agreement and follows Malamar as it uses its Psychic powers and tentacles to gather different berries and fruits. They quietly follow the Malamar until it reaches a cave that already has a few berries and fruits. Malamar then places the fruits in the cave and takes its leave. The group continues to quietly follow it. After a long while of following Malamar, the group remain hidden in the bushes to see it reaching to a specific spot.
Meanwhile, Mew has used her jacket to keep the eggs warm and continues to watch over them.
Soon, she hears Malamar, "Malamar." (I'm back.)
Mew turns to see Malmar, "Hello Malmar, were you able to find a place to stay."
"Malamar," Malamar answers with a nod.
"I'm glad to hear it. Your eggs begin to flash so I assume that they're going to hatch soon," Mew says.
Malamar nods in response.
Suddenly, they hear rustling in the bushes. They turn to see Pikachu, Eevee, Brock, and the rest of the gang.
"Pikachu. Eevee. Guys. When did you get here?" Mew asks.
"Well, we've been looking for you," May says.
"When May told us you haven't come back from your walk, we went searching for you," Zinnia says.
"Then a Gloom told us that this Malamar hypnotized you and took you somewhere," Tomo says.
"And then we found Malamar and followed it, watching it gather fruits and berries and put them in a cave," Max says.
"Then we follow it to where you're at," Molly says.
"I see. Sorry for worrying you guys, but Malamar needed some help watching her eggs for a little while until she can find a home and gather food since her eggs are going to hatch soon and need some food," Mew explains.
"That makes sense," Jen says.
"And now that she's done, she can bring the eggs to their cave," Mew says.
"That's good," May says.
"I plan to accompany Malamar to the cave," Mew says.
"Then let's all do it," Brock says.
Sometime later, everyone arrives at the cave where Malamar places her large nest of eggs, and they all look safe and comfy.
"There. They're all safe and secured," Mew says.
"Yeah, I'm glad we decided to help," Tomo says.
Soon, all the eggs begin to glow, all eight of them.
"Look, they're all hatching," Molly says.
Everyone watches as the eggs glow and hatching right before their eyes. When the glow disappears, all the eggs have hatched into little baby Pokemon.
Each of them is a small amphibious Pokémon that resembles a squid. Its body is round and blue in color with a fringe of short tentacles forming its underside, has very large round black eyes and a small pink beak-like smiling mouth. It has a pinkish white-finned cap-like feature with four bioluminescent yellow spots atop its head. Two short white arm-like tentacles sprout from either side of its cap.
"Aww, they're so cute," Molly says.
"I know. Those little Inkay are very cute," Mew says and gets her Pokedex.
Dextette says, "Inkay, the Revolving Pokemon. A Dark and Psychic Type. It flashes the light-emitting spots on its body, which drains its opponent's will to fight. It takes the opportunity to scuttle away and hide."
"Aww, they look really cute," Molly says.
Soon, the little Inkays begin to slow their flight and are kind of tired and land back in their nests again.
"They're so cute," Mew says.
Suddenly Mew's Pokemon Egg begins to glow, and a glow appears in Brock's backpack.
"Brock, your backpack is glowing," May says.
Brock removes his backpack and brings out his Pokemon egg.
Both Mew and Brock's Pokemon egg glow, and they both end up hatching into Carvanah.
"Cool. they both hatch," Mew says.
"Yeah. And they both look like healthy Carvanah," Brock says.
Mew then says, "Hey little guys."
Both Carvanah look at Brock and Mew and they both smile.
Sometime later, Mew and her friends are ready to head off.
"Well Malamar, my friends and I need to get going," Mew says, "We're on our way to Lumina City for my Pokemon Contest."
Just then, Malamar says, "Malamar," (Don't worry. Allow me.)
"Huh? What do you mean?" Mew asks.
"Mal Malamar Mal Mal Malamar," (Consider this as a thank you for watching my eggs.) Malamar says.
Just then, Malamar surrounds the gang with her psychic powers, and makes sure their items from camp have the same psychic connection and all that. Soon, everyone disappears. Then they reappear on a dirt road on the top of the hill. The teleportation ends up making everyone kind of dizzy.
"What was that about?" Max says, dizzy.
May shakes her head, "That was unexpected."
"Where are we?" Molly asks.
Soon, Zinnia looks ahead, "Guys, look."
The group soon looks to see a city up ahead.
"It's a town," Max says.
Max and Mew soon check their Pokenav.
"Wow. This is Lumina City," Mew says.
"Wow. Malmar must have used its Psychic powers to teleport us," Brock says.
"And look," Max says, pointing to a contest hall at the left side of the city, "There's the contest hall."
"That's amazing," Zinnia says.
May turns to Mew, "Well Mew, are you ready for your contest?"
"Sure am. And we're actually here earlier than expected so we have more time to train, right guys," Mew says.
Pikachu and Eevee happily agree.
Even though their training session ended up in an unexpected detour, Mew ends up helping a Malamat watch over her little ones, and in return, get them to their destination. And now, Mew will train and await for her upcoming contest and hope to earn her next ribbon.
