Episode 66: Disguise Da Limit
Having arrived in Verdanturf Town with May set to enter her third Pokémon Contest, while Mew, as Ashley, is debating about it. Just then, they end up meeting with a mysterious Coordinator known only as The Phantom. Mew and friends soon learned that The Phantom was really a shy boy named Timmy Grimm with big dreams of entering the Contest himself. Unfortunately, Timmy's mother, a powerful businesswoman who had forbidden her son to have any contact with Pokémon, had become suspicious of his dual identity. Hoping to take the heat off of Timmy so that he might realize his dream, Brock stepped in to pose as The Phantom. While things didn't go exactly as planned, in the end, Timmy's secret was safe and he was able to enter the Pokémon Contest. Our heroes will soon find out, however, that the shy little boy they helped would soon be May and Mew's fiercest opponent.
At the Verdanturf Town Contest Hall, the Coordinators were getting ready, save for May, who is nervous. Mew tries to comfort her.
"Why am I so nervous? It's not like this is my first time competing," May says.
Skitty meows.
"But it is my first time competing in a Contest with you, Skitty. I sure hope I'm ready for this," May says.
"Don't worry May, you'll do fine," Mew says.
"Thanks," May says.
Mew soon looks around, "I wonder where Timmy is."
"Yeah. He should have been here," May says.
Meanwhile, at the registration desk, the rest of the gang are waiting for Timmy.
"Timmy's running late," Tomo says.
"You're right. He's gonna miss the deadline to enter the Contest," Zinnia says.
Then Molly notices, "There he is."
Everyone runs up to him.
"Thanks for waiting for me," Timmy says.
"We're glad you're here," Jen says.
"What happened?" Brock asks.
"Yeah, my mom," Timmy says.
"You better hurry and register," Zinnia says.
"Oh, you're right," Timmy says.
As the group hurries to the registration desk, Team Rocket peaks out from behind a support column.
Jessie says, "Tsk tsk tsk. Showing up late to register for a Contest, proof that he's a first time amateur."
"My, aren't we feeling confident having actually entered on time for a change?" James responds.
"But, you know, I tink Jessie might actually have a chance of winning dis one," Meowth says.
Jessie says in determination, "Oh, I'm not just going to win, I'm going to crush everyone put up against me. For today is the day I gain victory!"
Inside the stage area, the audience was taking their seats. Among the crowd was Drew.
In the locker room…
"Really? You were late cause you had homework?" Mew asks.
Timmy says, "I think maybe my mom knew I was trying to get to the Contest."
Flashback:
Turns out, Mrs. Grimm is really making sure Timmy does his assignment.
Mrs. Grimm says to Timmy, "This is for your own good. After what happened yesterday, you're not to take one step out of this room, save for a bathroom break, until all your studies are finished. Do you understand?"
"But, this isn't fair. Come on, give me a break with all this. I don't even want to be a businessman," Timmy says.
May asks, "So, how'd you manage to get away?"
"Just when it looked hopeless, my dad came to the rescue," Timmy says.
As Timmy talked, her remembered the moment his dad knocked on the window
"Huh? Dad, is that you?" Timmy asks, walking over, "What's going on?"
Timmy's dad, Tommy shushes him, "Shh. Open your window and use this ladder to climb down and get yourself to that Pokémon Contest before it's too late."
Turns out, Timmy has used a ladder to climb up to Timmy's room.
As Tommy talked, Timmy opened his window
"But dad, mom said I have to…" Timmy says.
But Tommy says, "Don't worry, I'll take care of her. You just do your best in that Contest."
Timmy smiles, "Okay. I will, dad."
Tommy nods.
Flashback ends:
"That was pretty cool of your dad to do that," Tomo says.
"Yeah, I just wish I can find a way to make it up to him someday," Timmy says.
Then Mew says, "Well, I can tell you how to do that, Timmy. Just do your best, like your dad said, and make him proud."
"Yeah. I'll try," Timmy says and puts on his Phantom mask and laughs, "You ready, girls? Let's show them what really great Coordinators can do!"
"Uh, okay," May says.
"You're on, Timmy," Mew says.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Grimm enters her son's room, "Tim, would you like some…" But gasps in shock.
What she sees is her husband sitting in her son's chair.
Mrs. Grimm asks, "Tom, what are you doing here? Where's Timmy?"
"He happens to be at the Pokémon Contest Hall because I let him go," Tommy says.
Mrs. Grimm is shocked, "What?! Have you gone mad?!"
Meanwhile, at the Contest Hall, the show was about to begin.
Vivian announces, "Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, fans and contestants, to the Verdanturf Town Pokémon Contest! I'm your host, Vivian Meridian, and you can just feel the excitement here!"
As Vivian talks, the rest of the gang, including James and Meowth, are watching from the audience.
Vivian continues, "Now, before we get started, please allow me to introduce our panel of judges. Our head judge and Chief of the Pokémon Activities Committee, Mr. Contesta. Mr. Sukizo, the president of the Pokémon Fan Club, and Verdanturf Town's very own Nurse Joy. Now let's bring out our first contestants, shall we? Let's meet Coordinator number 1, Jesslana!"
Turns out, Jesslana is really Jessie in one of her disguises, wearing a teal shirt, underneath a yellow coat, pants, and black boots. And is wearing a hat to cover her hair.
Jessie says, "Who will be starting out with, Dustox!"
Dustox comes out and lands on Jesslana's hat.
"Isn't that beautiful, folks? A striking, majestic and perfect opening statement!" Vivan says.
The crowd is impressed.
Jessie giggles, "How easily impressed they are, but I'm just getting started. Dustox, Poison Sting!"
Dustox takes off and fires the attack.
"Follow up with Whirlwind!" Jessie calls out.
Dustox launches the attack, causing the stingers to spin around.
"And now, Psybeam!" Jessie says.
Dustox performs the attack and creates a dazzling display as the stingers channel the light of the Psybeam through them.
Vivan expresses the amazement, "Unbelievable! Dustox used a combination of Poison Sting and Whirlwind to make those stingers spin around like miniature batons up in the air and then set them aglow with Psybeam! An impressive combination of techniques reminiscent of an Independence Day fireworks show!"
Jessie giggles with confidence, "I'd like to see anyone top that."
In the audience, James softly says, "Way to go, Jessie."
Meowth softly says, "Hey, it's Jesslana, you're gonna blow her cover."
Then Vivian announces, "Let's see what the judges thought of the performance by Jesslana and her Dustox?"
The scoreboard shows her score of 28.5
"28.5! Close to perfect, and a tough act to follow," Vivian announces.
"She'll be tough to beat. That was really good," Tomo says.
"There's something familiar about her," Zinnia says.
As the Contest goes on, various Coordinators take the stage, including one who has his Charizard create a swirl of fire with its Flamethrower, earning them a score of 20.5.
"20.5!" Vivian announces.
Another Coordinator takes the stage with his Blastoise firing a Hydro Pump, earning them a score of 15.8
"15.8, ouch," Vivian says.
Soon, it's May's turn.
Vivian announces, "Next up, contestant 21, let's hear it for May!"
"Well, Skitty, it's time," May says, holding her Pokeball.
"You can do it, May!" Tomo calls out.
"You show em!" Jen calls out.
The Pokemon cheer.
"Go for it, big sis!" Max cheers.
May then calls out, "Let's go. Skitty, you're up!"
Skitty then comes out.
Drew says, seeing the performance, "Well, May sure looks more confident, considering this is her third Contest appearance."
May calls out, "Alright, now, Blizzard, Skitty!"
Skitty fires the attack, but quickly dies out, bringing a look of shock to May.
"What's wrong?" Molly asks.
"Uh oh," Zinnia replies.
"Oh, dear. May's very first technique just backfired," Vivian says.
"My nervousness must be affecting Skitty. Guess we better make up for it," May says.
She then calls out, "Alright, Skitty, show em your Double Slap!" and tosses three balls out.
Skitty uses its tail to juggle all three of them, impressing the audience and the judges.
"An excellent juggling act, reminiscent of the legendary Grand Festival winner, Abby, and a great comeback after that rough start. Now, let's see what the judges have to say," Vivan says.
The scoreboard shows May's score was a 24.9, almost 25.
"24.9, too bad. I'm sure she was hoping for a higher score because she was so close to a solid 25," Vivian announces.
May sighs and sulks.
"That's alright, May," Max says.
"You did good bouncing back," Jen says.
And soon, Mew, also known as Ashley, is taking the stage with Eevee.
"Alright Eevee, time to give it your Shadow Ball!" Mew calls out.
Eevee then launches Shadow Ball.
"Followed by Thunderbolt!" Mew calls out.
Eevee launches Thunderbolt and it makes the Shadow Ball turn into shadow ball lightning. And it's still floating in the air. The audience is amazed by it.
"Magnificent! Combining Thunderbolt and Shadow Ball turns it into an electrifying plasma lightning ball," Vivian says.
Soon, the scoreboard shows that Ashley/Mew has scored a 29.
"And that scientific move has earned Ashley and Eevee a 29, and became the highest score," Vivian says.
Soon, it's Timmy, aka The Phantom's, turn.
Timmy calls out, "Dusclops, Will-o-Wisp!"
Dusclops creates many small blue flames
Then Timmy calls out, "Follow up with Psychic!"
Dusclops uses Psychic to make the blue flames move and then dance around in circles that get larger and larger.
Vivian says in amazement! Wow! What a mind-bending combination of Will-o-Wisp and Psychic from The Phantom! Very reminiscent of something you'd see in a haunted mansion on Halloween!"
The crowd was amazed. The scoreboard soon shows Timmy/Phantom's score was 27.8.
Vivian says, "27.8, it seems the judges thought this early Halloween trick was all treat. Let's hear it for The Phantom, who finishes the first round in a beautiful yet spooky fashion."
Meanwhile, Timmy's parents were on their way to the Contest Hall, and Mrs. Grimm wasn't too happy with her son's and husband's actions.
Mrs. Grimm angrily says, " How could you do such a thing, Thomas?! You actually encouraged him to enter that ridiculous contest?"
"Yes, Timmy loves Pokémon more than anything else in the world," Tommy says.
"That's too bad, I refuse to allow him," Mrs. Grimm says, "When I was his age, I was always studying to take over my father's company. I never wasted my time with such nonsense."
However, Tommy says, "That's not entirely true."
That makes Mrs. Grimm confused.
"You may have forgotten, but I haven't, because you told me yourself," Tommy says.
Mrs. Grimm just sighs, knowing, deep down, her husband was right.
Meanwhile, back in the locker room…
May sighs, "Messing up Skitty's Blizzard attack really cost me, big time.
"Hey, at least you got close to 25," Mew says.
"She's right, your score is still good," Max says.
"You'll still make it to the second round. I just know it," Zinnia says.
"Definitely," Timmy says.
Soon, Vivian announces, "Attention, please."
Everyone turns their attention to the TV set.
"We now have the final scores from the judges. Contestants moving on to the second round are; Ashley and The Phantom…" Vivian announces.
"Alright!" Mew cheers.
Timmy is also excited, "Yeah!"
"And finally, May. Thus giving our final four!" Vivian says.
Everyone celebrates
"Yay!" Max cheers.
"See? We knew you'd make it, May!" Max says.
"But remember, this is going to get tough," Brock says.
"Yeah," Mew says.
"I know," Timmy says, "But May, Ashley, we're friends no matter what, right?"
"Yeah. May the best Coordinator win," May says.
"That's right. May the best Coordinator win," Mew says.
A bit later, the second round is about to start
Vivian announces, "Welcome back to the Verdanturf Town Pokémon Contest, where we're just about to begin the second round, the Contest Battles. Victory is awarded to the contestant who, within five minutes, can take away more of his opponent's points. First up, May vs Jesslana. Begin!" and the time begins counting.
As Vivian shouts her words, the timer starts.
May calls out, "Skitty, take the stage!"
And Skitty comes out.
"Please, we're gonna beat you without batting an eye, pardon the pun," Jessie says and calls out, "Go, Dustox!"
And Dustox comes out.
Jessie calls out, "Whirlwind, now!"
Dustox fires the attack, "That Whirlwind seems to have immobilized Skitty!"
"Skitty, use Assist!" May calls out.
And with using Assist, Skitty is able to use Gust, which counters the Whirlwind, and hits Dustox dead center.
"No way!" Jessie cries out.
Älright, Skitty!" May cheers.
"A flawless counterattack! And with that, Jesslana's points have taken a serious hit," Vivian says as Jessie's points drop by a quarter.
"Using Assist is a gamble, but it really worked out," Brock says.
Jessie calls out, "Dustox, Psybeam, now!"
Dustox performs the attack and hits Skitty.
"Skitty!" May cries out.
"Now Jesslana's fighting back and has taken points from May!" Vivian says, and also loses a quarter of his points. Jessie laughs as May grunts.
Then Jessie calls out, "Okay, then. Dustox, use Psybeam!"
Dustox fires the attack.
"Skitty, dodge and use Double Slap!" May calls out.
Skitty dodges and uses Double Slap
"Come on! Shake it off!" Jessie calls out.
Dustox does so.
"Skitty, keep going!" May calls out.
And Skitty continues on.
James calls out, "Keep fighting, Dustox!"
"Go for it, Jesslana!" Meowth cheers.
"Neither side is giving an inch! This has become quite a struggle!" Vivian says.
And soon, enough Skitty lands and May shouts.
"Skitty, use Tackle!" May calls out.
Skitty mananges to perform Tackle and strikes at Dustox, which sends it flying and crashes into Jessie, causing her to lose her hat, and Dustox is knocked out.
May says in shock, "It's you!"
"It's Jessie!" Brock says.
"That means Team Rocket's here," Zinnia says.
This worries James, "Our cover's blown!"
"I told her dat disguise would get blown away if she made a big bang!" Meowth says.
The timer soon chimes to indicate the time limit had expired while also showing May had more points than Jessie.
"Dustox is unable to battle, which means that May and Skitty will proceed to the final stage." Vivian says.
"Alright Skitty, you did it!" May happily says.
Jessie growls in anger, "That's what I get for playing fair and square! So now I'll have to take your Skitty by force, so that way you'll lose with me!"
Right on cue, James and Meowth join their teammate.
"Oh no!" May says.

Prepare for trouble, twerpette.
James:
Makes it double, cause you're history!
Jessie:
To protect the world from masked devastation.
James:
To unite all peoples under our unhidden nation.
Jessie:
To denounce the evils of truth and love.
James:
To extend our reach to the stars above.

Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light.
James:
Surrender your Dusclops, or prepare to fight, fight, fight!
Meowth:
Meowth! Dat's right!
Wobbuffet:
Woooobbuffet! (That's a wrap!)
Team Rocket pounces, "We may not get Dusclops, but we'll take the Skitty!"
Tomo turns to Pikachu, "Pikachu, Thunderbolt those guys!"
Pikachu complies and launches the attack, sending Team Rocket blasting off.
Jessie growls in anger, "That'll be the last time I ever try to win anything without cheating!"
"Back to our usual plans?" James says.
"Yeah, cheatin' witout winnin'," Meowth says.
Team Rocket cries out, "Team Rocket's blasting off again!"
Wobbuffet cries out, "Wobbuffet!" (Here we go again!)
May picks up Skitty, "You were great Skitty."
Skitty meows in response.
Meanwhile, the limo arrives, and Mrs. Grimm along with Tommy exit the vehicle and make their way inside.
A bit later, the second to last battle is almost ready to start.
"Now, in the last semi-final event, it's our leader on the scoreboard, Ashley, against the mysterious Phantom!" Vivian says
As the crowd cheers, the gang notice Mrs. Grimm and Tommy enter the Contest Hall.
"Uh oh!" Molly says.
"It's Timmy's mom!" Tomo says.
"Busted!" Jen adds.
However, their worries are put to ease when Tommy turns to them and nods.
Vivian announces, "Let the battle begin!"
As Vivian shouts her words, the timer starts.
Timmy says, "Well, I gotta say, it's going to be great to battle you. But you better watch out, Dusclops and I are unbeatable!" And calls out, "Go, Dusclops!"
Dusclops then comes out.
"I was thinking the same. We didn't get to finish our last battle," Mew says. Then calls out, "Let's go, Eevee!"
Eevee jumps off Mew's shoulder and onto the battlefield.
"Alright Eevee, let's begin with Swift Attack!" Mew calls out.
Eevee performs Swift Attack.
May calls out, "Shadow Punch, Dusclops!"
Dusclops performs the attack and goes right through the Swift Attack and is able to hit Eevee.
"Eevee!" Mew calls out.
Take that!" Timmy says.
"A flawless counterattack! And with that, Ashley's points have taken a serious hit," Vivian announces as Mew's points go down.
"Timmy's not bad at all," Brock says.
"Yeah, but Ashley is not going to lose that easily," Max says.
Mrs. Grimm watches on.
"Eevee, use Leaf Blade!" Mew calls out.
Eevee mananges to perform Leaf Blade and it's a direct hit!"
"Oh, no! Dusclops!" Timmy calls out.
"Now Ashley is fighting back and has taken points from The Phantom!" Vvian says, and Timmy also loses a quarter of his points.
Timmy grunts, while on the sidelines, Mrs. Grimm balls up her fist
Tommy turns to his wife and asks, "What's wrong? Memories coming back?"
Timmy calls out, "No! This battle isn't over and The Phantom doesn't know the meaning of the word defeat!"
Tommy then turns to his wife, "Tell me, when was the last time you saw Timmy that focused and determined about anything?"
Mew then calls out, "Eevee, use Thunderbolt!"
Eevee fires the attack.
Timmy then calls out, "Go, Dusclops, use Psychic!"
Dusclosp performs the attack from Dusclops' eye and collides with Dustox's Psybeam.
"Eevee, keep it up!" Mew calls out.
Eevee does so.
Timmy calls out, "Push, Dusclops! Don't give up!"
Dusclops continues.
Vivian says, "Neither side is giving an inch! This has become quite a struggle!
Back in the locker room, May was watching.
"This is getting intense, and from the looks of it, either one of them can win," May says to herself.
Finally, the two beams create an explosion and cause an explosion. The timer soon chimes to indicate the time limit had expired while also showing Timmy had more points than Mew.
Vivian announces, "Time is up, and the duo with the most points is Phantom and Dusclops, which means they proceed to the final stage!"
Both Timmy/Phantom's picture is shown on screen along with Dusclops'
"Way to go, Dusclops!" Timmy says.
Mrs. Grimm was amazed by her son's victory while her husband smiled approvingly.
"That was some pretty impressive battling," Tommy says.
Brock says, "Wow. Ashley actually lost."
"But it was a great battle," Tomo says.
Eevee feels disappointed that she lost.
Mew pets Eevee, "Hey Eevee, you were fantastic there. You really give it your all."
Eevee perks up.
Mew looks at Timmy, "And Timmy, you really gave us a battle…" But she and Eevee react, "Huh?/Vee?"
"Thanks Ashley, and you were great too. And glad we have that battle," Timmy says.
"Uh Timmy…" Mew says.
"What? What's wrong?" Timmy asks.
"Uh, your mask," Mew says.
"My mask?" Timmy questions confused.
The smoke cleared to reveal Timmy's mask had come off due to the force of the explosion.
Vivian says, "Oh, my! The Phantom's been unmasked!"
"Huh?" Timmy says, and looks to realize his mask is gone, "What happened to my mask?"
"It must have gone blown off from our attacks," Mew says.
"Timmy!" Mrs. Grim calls out.
Timmy turns to see his mom, "Mom! Dad! What are you doing here?"
"Mr. and Mrs. Grimm?" Mew questions.
"Timmy, I... I'm so…" Mrs. Grimm says, and soon walks away.
Tommy just nods at his son.
"Wait. Mom?" Timmy says, confused.
Mew grows concerned and decides to follow her.
Back in the locker room, Tommy tells the gang the whole story.
Tommy explains, "Yes. Believe it or not, son, your mother loved Pokémon, too, when she was young."
"Really?" Tomo asks.
"What happened?" Molly asks.
"Yeah. Why did she change her mind?" May asks.
"I'll tell you," Tommy says, and begins to explain, "My wife was the only child of the Grimm family, who were wealthy parents, and so it was expected that when she grew up, she'd take over her family's business."
As Tommy tells on, Mrs. Grimm remembers the day her Poochyena got taken away from her.
Tommy explains, "She had to grow up fast, and so things her parents thought were childish and a waste of time were taken away from her, including her beloved Poochyena. She was forbidden to have any contact with Pokémon ever again."
As the flashback ends, Mrs. Grimm says her lost Pokémon's name.
"Mrs. Grimm, are you okay?" Mew asks.
Mrs. Grimm turns to see Mew, and wipes the tears, "I'm uh, okay. I guess. Just… remembering…"
"Remembering?" Mew questions.
While back in the Contest Hall, everyone lets it sink in.
Especially Timmy, "I never knew that."
And Tommy says, "So, you see, your mother doesn't really hate Pokémon, Timmy, she just thought if you never fell in love with Pokémon, you'd never be heartbroken."
"Like her," Timmy says, sadly, and feels sorry for his mother.
Then Tommy says, "But apparently, she still can't bear to see you with your Dusclops, so this could be your only chance to compete in a Pokémon Contest," And says, determined, "Which means you go make the most of it. Go get 'em."
"Okay, dad. You can count on me," Timmy says.
"I wonder where Mew is?" Brock asks.
"I think she decided to follow Mrs. Grimm," Zinnia answers.
Outside the contest hall, Mrs. Grimm explains to Mew her story, and it's a very sad one.
"I see, you actually love Pokemon, but because you had to run your parents' company someday, your Pokemon Poochyena was taken away," Mew asks.
"Sadly yes," Mrs. Grimm says.
"And the reason why you tried to get your son to stay clear of Pokemon was because you didn't want the same thing to happen to Timmy," Mew says.
"Yes, but.. I ended up doing the same thing, didn't I…" Mrs. Grimm says, feeling guilty.
"Kind of, but I think you still have that chance to change that," Mew says.
Mrs. Grimm becomes confused.
"I mean. I may not know what it's like, but I can imagine it would be heartbreaking to lose someone that important to you, especially your Pokemon, who I bet was your friend," Mew says.
"Yes. It was really painful, but now, I'm not sure what to do," Mrs. Grimm says.
"Well, you love your son, right? And you also want him to be happy?" Mew asks.
"Yes. Of course," Mrs. Grimm says.
Mew smiles, "Well, I think it will help you with that answer."
Mrs. Grimm thinks for a minute, and wonders what she should do.
A bit later, the final battle was about to begin.
Vivian announces, "And now, ladies and gentlemen, the moment we've all been waiting for, the final showdown between May and The Phantom for the Verdanturf Town ribbon!"
Everyone is waiting, and Mew has returned to her friends to cheer for May.
"You can do it, big sis!" Max cheers.
"Do your best, Phantom," Jen adds.
"You can do it, May!" Mew calls out.
Vivian announces, "Begin the battle!"
As Vivian makes her declaration, the timer starts
Timmy calls out, "Go, Dusclops!"
Dusclops comes out.
May then calls out, "It's showtime, Skitty!"
And Skitty comes out.
Timmy calls out, "Okay, Dusclops, Focus Punch!"
Dusclops throws the attack and hits Skitty in the forehead.
"And Dusclops lands the first blow with Focus Punch," Vivian says as May loses a small portion of her points
May calls out, "Skitty, try your Double Slap!"
Skitty smacks Dusclops in the eye with its tail.
"Remember May, Normal Attacks won't work on Dusclops!" Max calls out.
Timmy calls out, "Dusclops, use Focus Punch again!"
Dusclops throws the attack.
"I'm in trouble," May says, shocked. But then has an idea, "Skitty, send it right back with Double Slap!"
Skitty does so, and hits it back.
Timmy calls out in shock, "No way!"
Vivian announces, "With an impressive counterattack, May has struck The Phantom with his own Focus Punch!"
Tommy says, "Ingenious, I must admit."
Timmy calls out, "Dusclops, Will-o-Wisp!"
Dusclops creates several small blue fireballs
"Now, follow up with Psychic!" Timmy calls out.
Just like in the appeals around, Dusclops sends the fireballs forward, but this time with Skitty as a target.
"Looks like The Phantom is using the same attack combination that earned him his slot in the final four," Vivian says.
Skitty gets hit multiple times by the flames.
And Vivian says, "Skitty seems to have no defense against this one, resulting in a heavy point loss for May, "May loses a few more points."
"If all physical attacks are worthless, how am I supposed to battle Dusclops?" May wonders.
Timmy says in thought, "May obviously doesn't have much experience battling against ghost Pokémon. This battle is mine."
As Timmy talks, the timer ticks down past the three minute mark.
"I better do something, and quickly say, " May says. Then calls out, "Skitty, Tackle it, now!"
Skitty charges in for the attack.
Timmy calls out, "Dusclops, use Hyper Beam, now!"
Dusclops fires the attack from its eye and hits Skitty hard, costing her more points.
"May's still using Normal Attacks," Max calls out.
"And she's losing," Molly says.
"If I go down, I'm not going down without a fight," May says, and calls out, "Skitty, Blizzard attack."
Skitty inhales and then launches the attack.
"Blizzard?" Brock questions.
"Not again!" Zinnia says, shocked.
Skitty performs the attack, but slowly fades out.
"Oh no!" Mew and Tomo say, shocked.
"Oh, my! Another failed attempt at a Blizzard," Vivian says.
Timmy then calls out, "Dusclops, Hyper Beam, go!"
Dusclops performs the attack and hits Skitty just as hard as the first time, causing May's points to go past the halfway mark.
"With more than half her points gone and the timer almost down to the last minute, will May be able to turn this around?" Vivian announces.
As Vivian talks, the timer hits the minute and a half mark.
"Another minute and a half, and I'll win," Timmy says.
May is not sure on what to do, "Now what? Nothing left I can do."
"Come on, May, you still have time left!" Zinnia calls out.
"But she already hard Skitty used all of her moves!" Max says.
"True, but there's one she hasn't tried. It's a risk, but it's worth a shot," Mew says.
May soon realizes, "Wait a minute! I still have one move left."
"Dusclops, time to seal our victory with Hyper Beam!" Timmy calls out.
Dusclops fires the attack.
Then May calls out, "Alright, Skitty, Assist!"
"What?" Timmy says, shocked.
Skitty performs the move, and from it comes a Gust that blows the Hyper Beam back.
"Don't stop!" May calls out.
"That can't be!" Timmy says, shocked.
Vivian says, "What a turnaround! May has chosen to use Assist to get herself back in the game! The result of it was Gust and it evened both Coordinators' scores!"
As Vivian talks, Timmy's points lower till they match May's as the timer hits one minute and ten seconds.
"That was a bold move to use Assist. Maybe she might win this match yet," Drew says.
"You're right. She still has Skitty's Assist," Tomo says.
"You never know what the results are going to be," Brock says.
"And May has a chance," Mew says.
"Way to hang in there, big sis!" Max cheers.
Timmy then says, "I'll admit, that Assist really took me by surprise. I got to finish her before she can regroup. Now, Dusclops, use Focus Punch!"
Duslcops performs the attack.
May calls out, "Skitty, use Assist again!"
Skitty performs the move, and this time it's String Shot, which stops the Focus Punch dead in its tracks before it dissipates.
Vivian says, "This time, Skitty's Assist produced String Shot!"
As Vivian talks, Timmy's points come down to the final quarter
"I have to stop her. But how?" Timmy says, unsure.
Suddenly, he hears his mom's voice, "Timmy?"
Timmy looks and sees his mom, "Mom?"
"It's Timmy's mom," Zinnia says.
Mrs. Grimm calls out, "Don't ever collapse under pressure, Timmy. Dusclops is battling for you because it trusts you, just like May's Skitty trusts her. Have confidence and faith in your Pokémon and you won't need a disguise."
"Yeah, you're right," Timmy says, and removes his mask and top hat.
"I'm so glad to hear it," Molly says.
"Now his mom is on his side," Max says.
"I'm so glad everything worked out," Mew says.
"And the battle will be even better," Brock says.
Tommy smiles and says, "Go for it, Tim."
"Alright, then, let's go!" Timmy calls out.
And May says, "You bet. Time's almost up so let's both give it our all!"
Timmy then calls out, "Dusclops, Will-o-Wisp!"
Dusclops fires the attack, "Assist, Skitty!"
Skitty performs the move, and this time it's an Ember that comes out and blasts through the blue flames.
"Skitty did Ember this time," Mew says.
Timmy's points lower a bit more as a result
"Nice try, May," Timmy says.
Then calls out, "Assist again, now!"
Skitty performs the attack, and this time the result was a Silver Wind.
"Now Silver Wind!" Brock says.
Timmy then calls out, "Dusclops, Psychic!"
Dusclops fires the attack, and blasts through the Silver Wind.
"These two seem to be really going for it! I've never seen a final battle come down to the wire like this one, tied up with only seconds left on the clock!" Vivan announces.
And the scoreboard shows both Coordinators were down to their last quarter of points and the timer was nearly at the 30 second mark.
Timmy says in thought, "There's no way I'm losing after what it took for me to get this far. One last attack should finish her off."
"It's just too much to expect Assist to come through for me again. I'm gonna have to put all my faith in Skitty," May says in thought.
Timmy calls out, "Go, Dusclops, Hyper Beam!"
Skitty calls out, "Now, Skitty, Blizzard!"
May's command brought a shock to the faces of everyone.
"Blizzard?!" Mew says, shocked.
This time, Skitty is able to perform Blizzard with full force and sends the Hyper Beam right back where it came from, nailing Dusclops and sending it flying back.
"It worked this time!" Max says.
Dusclops soon lands
"Dusclops, no!" Timmy calls out
The timer soon rings, indicating that time was up before the scoreboard shows Timmy with only 1/10th of his points left.
"Time's up! And the victory goes to, May and her Skitty!" Vivian announces.
May cheers, "We won! And it's all because of you, Skitty."
Skitty nods and meows in agreement
"That was a great battle," Tommy says.
"Nice job, May!" Mew says.
Drew says to himself, "May actually beat The Phantom?! Shows how luck and determination can play a part in any battle."
The two Coordinators shake hands
"Congratulations, May. But there's no way I'll ever lose to you again," Timmy says.
"Oh, yeah? We'll just have to see about that," May says.
Mrs. Grimm then says to them, "Say, kids, both of you were really great."
"Thanks, mom. I'm sorry, though, about sneaking…" Timmy says.
But Mrs. Grimm says, "It's alright. I understand."
"You do?" Timmy asks, surprised.
"As long as you don't fall behind on your homework, then you can continue to enter these Pokémon Contests," Mrs. Grimm says.
This has Timmy surprised, "Wait, you mean...?" He then smiles brightly, "Mom!" and hugs her, "Thank you, mom. I love you so much."
Tommy smiles and nods approvingly.
A bit later, the award ceremony is taking place.
Vivian announces, "With Mr. Contesta's presentation to May and Skitty of the prized Verdanturf Ribbon, the Verdanturf Pokémon Contest comes to a close. Congratulations, May."
The crowd cheers.
"Wow. I can hardly believe it, Skitty. We did it!" May says.
By putting her trust in her Skitty, May has come out on top in, perhaps, her most fierce competition so far. In the process, May has made another giant leap as a Pokémon Coordinator, by earning her second ribbon.
