I was in my room in the Stauber Clan's homestead after attending Melphani's funeral in which I was trying hard to formulate my plan. With sixteen days left before the eternal winter loomed, I had to focus on what to do next until I heard loud noises from outside. When I was out into the hallway, I heard Younhee arguing with a Draaza woman as she was desperate. I never heard much about the family drama with the Sohn family as they were banished from Alecrast by the Stewards years ago. Still, I had to hear what had to be said as I noticed the Draaza woman breaking down crying the moment Younhee wasn't having it, for he had work to do instead of arguing with people.
"How could you be so heartless, Younhee?" sobbed the Draaza woman as she had tears in her eyes.
"It was a one-night stand and that was all," he said sternly.
"It isn't a one-night stand when we were wed by proxy after Haruko's death. That was when I lost my husband two years prior from stage four colon cancer."
"Look, my kids aren't into infidelity and it's considered to be a grave sin to do so even after your spouse died."
"You should think about Moira! She's suffering from a disease that is slowly killing her and my blood type doesn't match! You have her blood type and you should also try and save her life! That's all I want from you!"
I was shocked to hear what was going on as I noticed the Draaza woman leaving with tears in her eyes while Younhee stood his ground. Still, I didn't want to poke the hornet's nest as I went back to my room and took my dirty clothes from the hamper and went towards the laundry room where I put my clothes into the toploader to get washed. Popping a laundry pod into the toploader, I turned it on as I sat down in a chair in which I was waiting for my clothes to be put in the dryer afterwards. While I was waiting patiently, I noticed Yokose entering into the laundry room as she opened up the dryer to take out the clothes that were ready to be put away, for she didn't mind helping every once in a while.
"I heard the argument earlier," I said.
"Younhee has a problem with commitment with the second wife that he brushed off as a one-night stand," said Yokose. "The woman he was put with by proxy goes by the name of Tavrani, whose husband, Aidan Ironblood, passed away from stage four colon cancer two years prior before Haruko's demise. She has children of her own, but her oldest son, Isaac, wants to put Younhee in his place for not stepping up and taking care of his baby sister."
"It's Moira, isn't it?"
"Moira and her twin sister, Madeline, were born after a brief tryst with Younhee and Tavrani in which one of the Elders of the Order decided to marry them by proxy after losing their spouses. Sadly, the Sohn family suffer from a rare genetic condition that renders them to a sickly state in which the only treatable option is through blood transfusion. Those in Tavrani's children aren't a match and Younhee's children don't want to contribute because of the fact that the oldest, Geomneul, called the twin girls 'affair babies.' One time, he brought his family to his father's place in which he begins to educate his children into calling the twins that deplorable name when his father and Tavrani were wed by proxy years ago to heal one another, only to end up getting his ass handed to him by Kunihiko, who was born deaf, but had the gall to put him in his place."
"And some people aren't okay with their parents or friends remarrying after losing a loved one…"
I remembered what happened to Dean after Magda's death as the pain and trauma he endured nearly broke him until I intervened at the last minute. I also remembered him plastered at the Wonder Nook as he was mainly drinking his sorrows away after the Zenith Vectors raided the base in the Dabb Mountains on Shiganshina last year since the war ended. After finding closure and getting with Ravenna, he was more committed, but he also had a bigger seat to fill when it came to seizing the throne from the Stewards on Alecrast, for there was an obligation that had to be fulfilled. As for Younhee's problems, I had to know a little more as I couldn't sit by and not know more as I wanted to unveil what was heard earlier, for I had to know where Moira was and to see for treatment towards her condition.
To put it bluntly, I never described what the Sohns looked like as I had to start with Younhee in particular. Even though he was the patriarch in his family, he was short for a human as he had the distinctive Asian features similar to those who often lived in Shilla on Alecrast. And to top it off, he wore glasses as he also sported his labcoat that most members of the Medical Corps often wore. As for Anri, she was taller than her father as she had black hair and grey eyes like her father while dressed in Sindar garb. As for Hyunwoo, he mainly had maroon hair and blue eyes as he is often paired with Kagura most of the time. As for Younhee's other two children, I never saw them, but I also knew for a fact that they believed in the core beliefs from the Clergy before they were finally kicked out of Stauber land. As for the situation that was about to unfold, I wanted to know more about it as I was also compelled to intervene, for it would end up getting dire if not doing so...
Younhee was busy making his rounds as he was mainly keeping to himself in which he refused to listen to Tavrani's protestations. Even though they had a brief tryst, he hated the fact that he was still married to her after he lost Haruko as he was also reminded of the constant belittlement he endured from the Clergy after her passing. He hated them for stalking him as he was also reminded of the punishment that came afterwards in the form of a spirit who killed unfaithful men. When he was taking a break, he noticed a man sitting on a bench glaring at him as he was dressed in the usual garb that the Clergy wore. Still, he was there to remind Younhee to remain lonely as he also didn't want him to acknowledge his new wife and daughters, for he only had one who died from suicide ten years ago.
"What the fuck are you doing here?" he yelled.
"I'm here to remind you not to associate with Tavrani or your children you gave her," said the man.
"Look, I've steered clear of them, okay? As for what's happening so far, one of them's in this hospital getting treatment for the same genetic disorder that plagued my family for years."
"And it's best that you ignore them or else you will face consequences in the form of the spirit of Constance Welch and she won't be lenient towards you for being unfaithful towards your late wife. As for that child in the children's ward, she's dying from an illness, right? She's waiting for that blood transfusion that you could give her, but if you even try to save her, I will go to great lengths to ruin your life and reputation to the point of spending the rest of your days as a janitor."
"Fine! If you want me to put the kid in hospice care, I'll do it so that you and your petty little friends would get off my back!"
"Good boy… I knew that you would remain faithful to your beloved Haruko even though she's been dead for years. And don't forget to pray to the Virgin Mary to have your sins absolved after this… For the record, Younhee, the Clergy is watching you and don't you forget it..."
The man left the hospital as Younhee was left seething after hearing about the constant blackmail that he endured. Still, he didn't want to pay attention to his daughter as he was also seeing what was left of the Clergy still trying to assert its dominance over the public who lived on Stauber land. Even though life would soon give him a push, he also had to watch his back as there were others who didn't want him to acknowledge Tavrani or their daughters, for the Clergy was always watching on the sidelines…
Anri was at the hospital as she was busy helping out in the children's ward. Despite the fact that she was a hunter, she had a soft spot when it came to children in hospitals in which she was mainly helping some of them who were mainly bedridden. The sight of some of them with monitors and intravenous drips inserted into their arms was nothing new as Anri wanted to make some of them feel comfortable while going through their treatments. One of the children in particular was human, but also Cetra, as she was mainly in bed with an intravenous drip in her arm while a teenage Elf boy sat down praying for her recovery. The boy in particular had Native American features like the Bellflower and Runningstar Clans as he was dressed in Lorien garb complete with some feathers in his hair, for he was eager to be there in this crisis.
"How is she doing?" asked Anri.
"Not good," said the boy.
"As usual, my dad is too pig-headed and too proud to come here to address his problems or even get to know our half-sister, who is at death's door. And yet, she suffers from the genetic condition passed down by my dad's family in which blood transfusion is the only way to stabilize it. I would've gave blood, but I'm not a match. Hyunwoo would also give blood, but he's on a mission right now."
"So, it's up to your dad, isn't it?"
"Most humanoids with red blood in their veins often have the same blood types: Type A, Type B, Type AB, and Type O. Dad and Hyunwoo have Type AB and so does Moira. I hope to the gods that Dad changes his mind and gives blood to her. No one should ever suffer a genetic condition and be left to die like that…"
Both Anri and the boy looked at the girl in the bed as she was stirring in her sleep. They were desperate to convince Younhee to do his part in saving her life as she was visibly hanging by a thread. By the time he arrived to see Moira, he was looking at her with disdain instead of compassion as he knew of her to be more of a burden than a blessing, The sight of the girl irked him to no end as he was also reminded by the Clergy years prior of getting with Tavrani until he broke it off, for in their eyes, till death do they part became primal and not allowing the bereaved spouse to move on.
"Still looking after the affair baby, I take it…," he said.
"How could you say that to our sister?!" yelled the boy as he was angered by Younhee's words.
"She ain't my problem, Isaac!"
"It is your problem, Dad!" cried Anri. "After ten years of being married by proxy to Talvari after Mom taking her own life, you still refuse to acknowledge the product you made after what you call it a 'one-night stand!' You're in the Medical Corps and one of the best surgeons and you refuse to give blood to save the life of a little girl?! If Reuben hears of this, I hope he expels you just as Kazuo expelled Yoichi Yano!"
Younhee left the children's ward in disgust as he refused to give blood to someone he has deemed a mistake. Little did he know was that Reuben was watching on the sidelines as he was disappointed in the displeasure and disregard for the daughter he didn't want as he was simply biding his time to tell me of what was going on, for he would soon reach me the moment he had a break. When he looked out the window, he saw the same man from earlier glaring at him as he was making sure that he ignored Moira's needs, for he was still watching his moves...
I was outside by the harbor as I was mainly writing in my journal while enjoying a sandwich and a cup of coffee. Even though I stayed behind while Dean returned to Skald Island, I didn't mind it as I saw the waves crashing near the shore. When I finished up my sandwich, I saw Reuben walking over to my table as he sat down in the chair across from me with a croissant and a cup of coffee. I had a feeling that something was wrong as he was more than likely to be airing dirty laundry towards me, for he was a little displeased with what was going on in the hospital.
"You're in a mode," I said.
"After what I heard in the children's ward, I'm pissed off at what Younhee said," answered Reuben.
"As usual, he may be best at surgery, but he'll always have a short fuse."
"It's not that he has a short fuse, Sam. It's because he refuses to acknowledge the existence of his youngest daughter, Moira. What's even worse is that he calls her an affair baby in which it irks Anri to the point of kicking his ass."
"Yokose told me about the genetic condition she suffers from, but at a standpoint, he's a match for the girl."
"He refuses to help her so he can function on his other children, but Tavrani has been telling him to do more, but to no avail. If he keeps this up, then I'll have no other choice but to file a complaint to the Review Board and they'll strip him of his medical license real quick."
"No… I'll think of something in which it'll do more than just give him a rude awakening."
I finished up my coffee as I was ready to formulate my plan carefully. Hearing about Younhee not willing to save his daughter's life was beyond disgusting as I had no other choice but to convince him the hard way. In the end of this mess, no one should ever allow an innocent child to die all because they were born from resentment. When I noticed Younhee, he was sitting on the dock as he was busy going through a crisis in which he was torn between being faithful to his late wife and rekindling the trust that he had in Talvari, for he was living in fear of the afterthought that the Clergy put into his head.
"Damn it; I'm already in Hell anyway for being faithless to Haruko after she died," he said as he was starting to get frustrated. "If only I wasn't paired with Talvari and got with her for comfort… No, the fucking Clergy kept calling me an adulterer after they called Haruko a heretic after she was raped to the point of killing herself. And I know what became of my one-night stand in which Moira and Madeline were born, but I refused to accept them so that the Clergy could get off my back!"
I never thought that the Clergy would get too far into convincing Younhee to remain a widower and not be wed to Tavrani by proxy as he was backed in a corner. Still, I was eager to give a piece of my mind of what I thought, but Reuben backed me away the moment we hid in the shadows. When Younhee was on his way home, he was looking all around him as he was no stranger to being followed all the time. In a way, we were cautious as we also had to tread quietly. What we didn't expect was that Anri followed us as she was concerned about what was going on, for she wanted her father to give some of his blood to Moira, for she needed it more than anything.
"Director Winchester," she said. "I need to talk to you about something,"
"I saw the whole thing," said Reuben.
"Dad's been avoiding Moira's situation in which he refuses to help her. And do you know what he called her? He called her—"
"—An affair baby? I heard Younhee showing resentment towards the Cetra in her hospital bed in which her condition is slowly starting to deteriorate and if a blood transfusion isn't enacted, the girl will die."
"That's just it… Recently, Dad's been wanting to put Moira in hospice care in which he doesn't give a damn about her in which her presence reminds him of what the Clergy told him about being unfaithful after Mom's suicide. No… This isn't right… Mom won't be the only one ashamed if she saw him right now. It'll be Isaac's dad who will also disappointed if he sees him be angry at Moira."
I was livid as I heard about how Younhee loved his children while disregarding the ones that he and Tavrani made. I was ready to confront him as I saw Reuben standing in my way. He didn't want me to jump the gun as he also didn't want to violate ethics in the Medical Corps, for he always believed in the Hippocratic Oath more than anyone.
"I can't let you do that, Sam," he said cautiously.
"I don't like doing this, but I don't have a choice," I said as I was ready to take matters into my own hands. "A little girl is sick and her father is absolutely doing nothing to alleviate her suffering! We all know that Younhee's blood type is a match and yet he still wants to put her in hospice care?! No, I won't sit by despite the fact that a girl is at death's door right now!"
"Say what you want, but I won't perform a procedure without consent!"
"You're standing in front of someone who's had things done to him without consent. I lived to tell the tale in which the bastard and his accomplice who did the deed are doing jail time right now. As for the matter at hand, I won't let an innocent child die because her father is too pig-headed to care about her health and well-being!"
I ran off as I decided to follow Younhee to where he was going. What I noticed was that he was heading to an alleyway to vent as he was staring at a mural of the Virgin Mary on the wall. He was afraid of being judged as he also didn't want to be labeled as an adulterer in which he later noticed me standing there, for he was in for a rude awakening.
"Oh, it's you," he said to me.
"Yeah, it's me," I said. "I also heard about how you're putting your youngest daughter into hospice care while you have the lifesaving blood that is meant to save her!"
"She's about to die anyway in which I won't be labeled as unfaithful for the rest of my life. It's the most I can do just to keep me faithful to Haruko after her death. You know of the lore from the Elder Days and you also know about spirits who kill people who aren't faithful to their spouses or significant others, right? You also might know about the plight of Constance Welch when she killed her children after discovering her husband having an affair behind her back in which her spirit was later cast into Hell. As for going forward not to save Moira's life, I won't be labeled faithless nor be swayed by the likes of you!"
Younhee was ready to strike as I used my raw power to bend the blood in his body to the point of using his moves against him. By the time he punched himself in the face, he was rendered unconscious as Reuben and Anri rushed towards where I was. They never expected me to take matters into my own hands, but it was too much as Reuben was ready to chastise my methods, for I had to do something before it was too late.
"That was a little overkill on your part," he said as he saw me lifting Younhee onto my shoulders.
"We should get to the hospital and get started," I said. "Younhee's the only hope in saving Moira's life and I won't see an innocent life getting snuffed out because of his resentment towards her."
"Thank the gods…," said Anri as she was hopeful for a better solution.
And so, we brought an unconscious Younhee away from the alleyway as we had to take desperate measures. Even though we would soon be chastised by our methods, we had to act fast as we also had to save a life from the jaws of death, for this was our reason to do more than just justify the ways and means of doing what was right…
Moira was still in her bed as Tavrani arrived to see how she was doing. Sitting up, she saw her mother as she also saw her twin sister, Madeline, accompanying her in which she was also concerned about her health and well-being. She was a wreck as she was instantly wasting away from the disease that was slowly ravaging her body in which her mother and sister watched helplessly while trying to remain calm. Still, she was fighting for her life as she wanted to live as she was too young to die, for she loved her family despite the fact that her father hated her for being alive.
"How are you feeling?" asked Tavrani.
"I'm okay…, I guess…," answered Moira.
"We'll think of something, sweetie… I'll pray to the gods and the Matriarch to make you well again… I'll even make a demon deal just to save you from death even at the cost of me being dragged into Hell…"
"Fuck Younhee!" yelled Madeline as she was angry with her father.
"Language! You can't use those words because you're not an adult. As for you condemning your father, you'll be causing the wrath of the Matriarch in which She won't stop until you forgive him."
"He abandoned us, Mom! He left us because he wanted to forget about us! I hate him and I wished that he died on the spot for what he's been doing to Moira."
"That's not true because I saw how the Clergy kept stalking him… I know of this because they didn't want him to marry again after he lost Haruko. If only he blended our families together the way that the Order willed it… As for what you're saying about your father, it's a grave sin to wish death upon him, so I suggest that you show humility before judgment."
"No! I hate Younhee! I wish that those big doggies would drag his ass straight to Hell!"
Without warning, Moira began to seize as Tavrani was worried about her well-being. When members of the Medical Corps arrived, they were ready to stabilize Moira's condition as they briefly did so. When all hope was lost, Tavrani was eager to accept her daughter's fate as she was shedding tears in her eyes, for she would soon place her into hospice care after this.
"There's no hope left…," she said as she was wiping the tears from her face. "I'm so sorry, sweetheart… I tried everything I could… Almighty Matriarch, forgive me..."
"Everyone, get everything prepped!"
We arrived in the nick of time as we had an unconscious Younhee in tow the moment Reuben took charge and took him into the operating room. Tavrani was hopeful of the drastic actions that were taken as members of the Medical Corps took Moira from her bed and into a stretcher in which Anri and I waited patiently while work was getting done. Even though we would soon be through the ringer, but saving the life of a child came first before one's pride, for this was something that had to be done before it was too late…
Younhee found himself in an empty room as he heard the sound of children laughing outside. He later noticed Haruko appearing in front of him as she completely ignored him while going outside to where the children were playing. He knew of this memory as it was the last time that he saw Haruko alive. When he saw her go into the storehouse, he rushed to it as he later saw her dead to the point of hanging herself in which she was suffering from the trauma and grief that claimed her. Tears streamed down his cheeks as he was overwhelmed by the grief of the loss the moment he saw Zbigniew standing in front of him with a smirk on his face. He was ready to attack until he saw Haruko's rapist change into a form that was once part of the lore in the Elder Days, for she was waiting for him to "take her home" against his wishes.
"Hello, Younhee…," she said as she stood in front of him.
"Stay away from me…," he said as he was shaking. "Stay the fuck away from me!"
"Take me home…"
"I've been faithful only to Haruko, only to be sidelined by getting stuck by proxy with a widow. I was even labeled an adulterer after her passing in which I had to part ways with Tavrani!"
"No, Younhee… You've been unfaithful and now, you're going to pay for your sins!"
The familiar spirit lunged at Younhee as she dug her fingers into his chest. He was struggling to get her off of him until he woke up in a hospital room. He had a nightmare as he later noticed a bandage on his arm in which he later noticed an intravenous drip inserted in the other. Even though he was knocked out earlier, he wasn't thrilled with what happened to him, he was too groggy to remember until he saw me enter into the room. Anger and a lingering grudge was bubbling up in him as he was also not too happy with me for using my raw power to clock himself earlier, but was too tired to lash out. By the time Reuben entered into the room, he was checking up on him as he was eager to give him the heads-up, for he was put here without his consent.
"What the fuck did you do to me?!" he yelled.
"We did what we had to do," said Reuben. "Luckily, Moira's condition has stabilized and is improving thanks to the blood transfusion."
"I never asked to contribute to this shit!"
"Really? We didn't have a choice in which a little girl's life was on the line," I said. "You're lucky that your blood was a match and even helped to counteract the genetic condition that Moira was in. As for your new wife that you haven't spoke to in ten years, she's thankful that you contributed to help your daughter or else she would've been dead by now."
"She should've been in hospice care… All she is to me is a lost cause that should've been put away to begin with! It would've been nice that she would've been put there to receive end of life care instead of siphoning what I had in me!"
"How dare you?! You of all people may be one of the best surgeons in the Medical Corps, but you should also honor and respect the Hippocratic Oath, which is 'First do no harm!' Therefore, that 'lost cause' that you helped without your consent happens to be your daughter in which you should stop showing resentment towards her and be lenient! And you call yourself a member of the Medical Corps! You should devote your life to helping people get better instead of getting pissed off all the time! And another thing, I suggest that you pull your head out of your ass and show some compassion for once! It's what any doctor should do instead of abandoning their principles for their own selfishness and pride!"
Younhee didn't say another word as my words shut him up for a change. When I left the hospital room, and entered into the hallway, I saw Tavrani sitting on the bench as she was happy that Moira's life was spared. Still, she wanted to tell me the truth about what was going on as she also wanted to be further into Younhee's life for the sake of all their children, for she was robbed of the support from the man she was wed to by proxy. Tavrani was mainly a care-worn Draaza woman as she had a lavender comb and blue eyes while dressing in a black dress that denoted her status as a widow to her late first husband, for she was also willing to keep Younhee tethered so he wouldn't be cranky all the time.
"You're here on Younhee's behalf, aren't you?" I said.
"I am, but it's hard for Madeline to accept him," said Tavrani.
"At least I took matters into my own hands just to force Younhee to give Moira the blood that she needed or else she would've been dead by now."
"I'm glad to hear of it, but it's not why I'm here, My Lord. I have to tell you about how the Clergy kept us apart after we were wed by proxy ten years ago. After what happened to Haruko, Younhee was devastated in which the Rakuen Priesthood paired him with me after I lost my first husband to stage four colon cancer two years prior. When we had our night together, we were willing to bring our families together as one, but the Clergy weren't pleased with our union. They said that it was a sacrilege that we were being unfaithful to our spouses, but that's not the case. When they broke us up, I found out that I was pregnant with twins in which I kept them while the Clergy demanded that I terminate them in retaliation for Younhee nearly killing Haruko's rapist before she took her own life. I gave birth to Madeline and Moira, but we spent our years mainly living and working at a place called the Sunflower House, which is an orphanage. I tried desperately to have Younhee bond with my daughters, but I was barred by the Clergy in which they've been watching him and warning him to be faithful to his late wife, but that's not the case."
"What are you talking about?"
"The real reason why the Clergy remind Younhee of being faithful and not spending time with us was because of the fact that they support Zbigniew who violated his late wife and got away with it. As for the guy who kept watching him, he goes by the name of Donovan Langford, who happens to be one of the Clergy's attack dogs. Even though they're no longer there to harass the people living on Stauber land, Donovan stood behind to intimidate Younhee by using emotional blackmail. He even brought up the case of Constance Welch from the Elder Days in which her spirit killed unfaithful men by luring them just to 'take her home.' For years, I struggled and raised Madeline and Moira while they were protected by their half-siblings. Isaac, in particular, is very protective of them in which he loves being the doting big brother. The only thing he can't stand is having Younhee rejecting our girls until now."
It wasn't long until I noticed Younhee's stalker standing in the distance as he was seething with rage after what went down earlier. Still, he was undeterred to keep the firebrand surgeon tethered to the blackmail he delivered as he wasn't about to give up so readily. I also noticed him smirking as he was ready to deliver a snide remark, for he wasn't ready to fork Younhee over to anyone yet.
"Your friend gave that little whelp the transfusion, didn't he?" he said.
"Donovan Langford, I presume?" I said as I stood my ground. "Younhee did give Moira the lifesaving transfusion that she needed in which it was vital to keep her from going to an early grave."
"I assumed it as much, but no matter… I just added a little poison to the little brat's orange juice that's strong enough to incapacitate a K-pop idol, but strong enough to kill a child…"
"No…, Moira!" cried Tavrani as she was scared to death.
"None of this would've happened if Younhee could've kept his scalpel in his pocket! I know of Moira's room number and she'll be getting her usual juice and cookies, which will be her last meal after all!"
I feared the worst as I rushed over to where Moira's room was in which I had to hurry before it was too late. By the time I got there, I saw Reiko there as she saw the tainted cup of orange juice and poured it out into the sink in which she placed the evidence into a plastic bag. I also noticed Moira drinking some chocolate milk with her cookies as she was slowly recovering from the blood transfusion she received earlier. It wasn't long until Tavrani burst in as she was worried about the situation getting dire until she was glad that Moira was alive and safe, for she was thriving instead of suffering.
"Thank the Matriarch you're alive," she said as she shedding tears of joy.
"The man who tried to poison your daughter underestimated what I could do," said Reiko as she was pleased to avert a tragedy. "The man who did this will get his comeuppance soon, but as for the girl's pig-headed father, Sammy did the right thing when he bent his blood to clock himself just to save her life."
"I'm glad that you're here," I said.
"Hey! Don't even think about going in there, you big bully!"
I rushed out into the hall as I noticed Sona armed with a slingshot while pelting Donovan with pebbles that hit him in the face. Even though he failed to kill Moira, he wasn't expecting the floor being wet after it was recently cleaned in which he slipped and fell. I saw the bravery in my ward as she wasn't about to let the poisoner harm Moira in which she was armed with more than just her slingshot, for she ended up hitting him in the crotch with her Patchwork Emma doll that was stuffed with something heavy, for she didn't want him to go no further.
"You ungrateful little brat!" he yelled as he had his hand on his crotch. "All I'm doing is to get rid of the problem at hand!"
"You tried to harm a little girl just now, only for Reiko to step in," I said as I shielded Sona.
"There will be no one who will protect that little whelp, for she is an affair baby!"
"Don't you dare try to call her that!" yelled Younhee as he was in his hospital gown while holding a scalpel to Donovan's throat. "I know now that your years of emotional blackmail literally robbed me of establishing a life with Tavrani and her kids, only to keep me tethered 'cause you still defend that pathetic toady who raped Haruko! Sam was right in which I have to be a better doctor and not cling to the past in which I should display more compassion than getting pissed off all the time."
"You're invoking the wrath of Constance Welch in which she'll kill you for—"
"Don't you dare start your shit on me! Because of you separating me from Tavrani and her brood and even coercing some of my kids to call Madeline and Moira affair babies, I missed out on everything in which even the likes of Haruko and Aiden would've wanted me to move on instead of clinging to the past."
"You'll regret this, Younhee! There will be a much bigger wrath in the form of a hellhound that will drag you to Hell just to reunite you with your precious Haruko!"
"Past stays past, numb nuts! I'm not kicking that wall again, you hear me?!"
It wasn't long until we noticed several members of the Order arrived to apprehend Donovan who was still clutching at his crotch. When Younhee saw his tormentor being taken away, he sported the middle finger as he was eager to connect with the daughters he once hated. I was also impressed that everything was fine in the end as I would soon face repercussions for forcing Younhee to give blood until I saw Yokose bursting into the hospital, for she was impressed to see a positive approach that occurred earlier. Still, it was fleeting for Younhee to change his mind about his twin daughters as he wasn't about to abandon them again, for this was something that he had to commit himself with…
I was in the cafeteria as I saw Reiko and Sona sitting next to me while eating some lunch. Even though I was happy that the threat was averted, I was also glad that I had help in the most unexpected ways It was fleeting, but I was grateful that a life was saved as I was also glad that a stray member of the Clergy ended up getting his comeuppance, for his actions would soon came back towards him in the form of karma.
"It's strange that Younhee had a change of heart," said Reiko.
"At least he's making a better effort," I said.
"Thankfully, I had to hit the bully in the goody bag," said Sona.
"That's a little too much, but you should also leave the fighting to the grown-ups."
"That meanie wanted to poison Moira so he can keep her daddy away all because he and his group keep blackmailing him. I also heard that those bad people support one of those guys in spacesuits that came towards Skald Island."
"There you are!"
I noticed Yokose burst into the cafeteria as she was there on business. Even though everything was resolved, I had to shield Sona as I advised her to leave the cafeteria due to the fact that this was a private matter that no child should ever hear. Still, it was a whirlwind of everything happening at once as I also wanted to hear Yokose out the moment she was eager to give us any further updates, for it was necessary to do so at present.
"Donovan's in the slammer, but he's been doing more than just cause emotional blackmail towards Younhee," she said. "It's a form of retaliation against him for nearly killing their precious 'miracle baby' in which the Clergy kept voicing their support for him. We all know that the bastard who caused us so much grief is still at large and not stopping with his new prosthetics."
"It was Zbigniew, wasn't it?" I said.
"From what I know, Zbigniew may have been born a miracle baby, but he had a rap sheet stemming from theft to torturing animals. Everyone here hated the Clergy in which they think that their 'golden child' could do no wrong. When he got older, he got tired of his usual thing and started resorting to sexual violence. When I lost Haruko, it not only broke Younhee, but the rest of us in which the Clergy kept making decisions for us against our judgment and their people could do no wrong in their eyes. Sooner or later, that prick will get what's coming to him, but we won't be able to touch him. There are others who would be willing to castrate him for what he did in which he'll suffer dearly for his crimes."
"About that…"
"I already know what happened at the Mitani Clan homestead on Alecrast. And yet, Zbigniew pulls his crap when he raped Kizuri. Thankfully, we had the miff just in case a pregnancy went wrong, but most of the typical 'pro-life' morons believe that all humanoid life is sacred. They even want a spawn of Zbigniew to succeed them, but there won't be a chance anyway that even the King of the Grey Havens won't allow something from his seed to take root and we all know that Jack Kline has a hate boner for the prick who can't keep it in his pants."
I sensed such a grudge that Yokose had as she wanted justice for what happened to her daughter ten years prior. Still, I didn't blame her for wanting to get back at Zbigniew as he was more than just a simple toady for the Zenith Vectors. He was a man who didn't give a damn about his own actions as he simply got away with what he was doing. Still, he was untouchable by the Clergy's standards, but not out in the open as he was still at large. As for Younhee, however, he also suffered from the fallout that happened after he lost Haruko as he had a long time to heal from being away from his blended family, for he had to have true closure in order to move on.
When we noticed Madeline enter into the cafeteria, she was angry at the fact that Younhee would be in her life. I sensed the tension in her as she also didn't want her father to be attached to the blended family that was already established in which she was also glad that Moira was saved. Therefore, she was not wanting a relationship with Younhee as she didn't want to give him a chance until I had no choice but to intervene.
"I can't believe that I have to deal with that asshat!" I heard her say.
"Watch your language!" yelled Yokose as she was standing in front of her.
"Younhee is a piece of crap! He's not worthy of being in our lives!"
"He's your father and you shouldn't be disrespecting him like that," said Reiko cautiously as she was not having it. "He saved your sister's life in which she's still alive today. I know that your father isn't perfect, but please, don't turn him away. He's been robbed of establishing a relationship with you in which he regretted it for a long time. He cares about you and he's willing to move forward if you let him."
Madeline was moved by Reiko's words as she later noticed Moira entering into the cafeteria in which she was alive and thriving. Still, it was a slow process, but we were ready to assist Younhee's blended family as they had so much to catch up on, for they needed to heal further more than anything…
