Holly noticed the time and wanted to make sure she did get to meet Robert for lunch, if anything to make sure he ate something. Jayne gave her a ride over since she was headed to work. Holly went to Robert's office and found it empty. "Robert?"
Chase heard her and walked over. "Holly, The Commissioner wanted me to apologize. Something came up and he had to go."
Holly couldn't hide the disappointment on her face but this was normal at times and she knew it was part of the job. "I understand, thank you for telling me."
"You're welcome. Do you need a ride home?" Chase asked her, noticing she came with Jayne.
"Oh no, I'll walk. It's not that far." Holly felt confident that this town was safe to do such things. She said her goodbyes to Jayne and then started the walk home. She kind of dreaded going home to an empty house after it had been so lively but knew that excitement was still nearby.
When she got to the townhouse she opened the door and heard music. She knew Jayne wasn't there. She quickly looked over and saw flowers on the table, two plate settings with grilled cheese and some champagne.
Robert came out of the kitchen with some caviar. He had an apron on as he tried to set up this surprise for Holly. "You're home." He sat the caviar down and went over and gave her a kiss.
Holly kissed him deeply and gave him a hug. "You know you truly are the best, Robert Scorpio."
Robert's arms wrapped around her as he looked into her eyes. "You deserve the best. Do you know how proud I am of you?" Robert asked her. He was so happy they both were getting their lives back on track. That gray cloud over Port Charles was finally vanishing.
"As proud as I am of you." Holly looked over at the grilled cheese and back at him. "I see you went all out."
"Only the best for you." Robert chuckled, taking her hand as he walked her over to sit down.
Holly sat down. "Thank you. This really is the best."
Robert sat down and reached over to take her hand. "I know you've always loved my grilled cheese."
Holly giggled at the comment. "I've always loved you and I will never stop. I also love that they aren't burnt to a crisp."
"Well it's not toast." Robert's eyes twinkled as he gazed into hers.
Holly reached over and stroked his cheek with her free hand. "I love you so much. This is one of the sweetest things, my favorite thing from today."
Robert kissed her hand. "Well, today's not over yet, so save that thought." He told her before the two of them enjoyed their lunch, they held hands threw eating the sandwiches.
