Today was the first Friday since Anne Boonchuy, Sasha Waybright, and Marcy Wu became Guardians of all that was, is, and ever will be.

And this was important, because in the afterlife, for the Guardians, Fridays were Bagel Fridays. A baker's dozen of bagels would be left at the doorstep for the trio. And they would not all come from the same place every time, so that there could be variety as to what kind of bagels the girls would get to eat.

Today, a mysterious figure left a box of 13 bagels, the amount in a baker's dozen, from Einstein Bros. Bagels. Again, the bagels wouldn't always be from there. Other national chains would be used, at times well-regarded local bagel shops would provide the bagels to the Guardians, to allow for varieties that may not be available at one of the national chains.

"I'm so excited girls!" Anne exclaimed.

"Excited for what?" Sasha asked.

"It's Friday, what is there to be excited about?" Marcy asked.

"In my first venture to this dimension at 13, I was told that Fridays in the afterlife would be Bagel Fridays. And today is the first Friday since we started our new jobs. So today is the first Bagel Friday for us," Anne said.

Anne went outside the door to retrieve the 13 bagels from Einstein Bros. for the girls to share. The three girls decided to take turns eating five bagels every Friday while the other two ate four apiece.

In today's box were plain, everything, French toast, Chocolate chip, blueberry, Asiago cheese, cheesy hash brown, green chile, six-cheese, jalapeno cheddar, apple cinnamon, spinach Florentine, cinnamon raisin, and ancient grain bagels.

With them were six containers of cream cheese, which Einstein Bros. called Shmears. Each was a different flavor: plain, honey almond, garden veggie, onion and chive, strawberry, and jalapeno salsa.

The idea was try and pick the perfect Shmear for each bagel. Each Shmear paired well with a specific kind of bagel.

To determine which of the girls would get each kind of bagel, a hat containing thirteen slips of paper, each with a name of a different kind of bagel written on it, was provided. Since Anne was the first of the three to be approached with the job of becoming Guardian, it was agreed she'd get five bagels today.

The girls of course didn't need to eat their bagels all at once. They could space them out as needed, as long as the Shmears were kept refrigerated.

The first Bagel Friday was a hit with the girls, as Anne expected it to be. The girls were thus far enjoying their jobs as co-Guardians of all that was, is and ever will be. And of course they wanted to do it forever, unlike the previous Guardians.

The girls couldn't wait for the next Bagel Friday. In determining the rotation for who got five bagels, they went by last name, so next Friday it would be Sasha's turn, then Marcy after that, and back to Anne, then the cycle would repeat.
