The camera shows the square face with a mustache. It's Chibi Bagogo
"Hah. Ladies and gentlemen! How do you do? Welcome! It's me, Bagogo. Today I brought someone here. Meeeeeetttt Dori!" introduced Chibi Dori
"Hi. Nice to meet you." waved at the audience
"Hah. Thanks for coming today, Dori. I hope I didn't interrupt you and your business." said as shook her head
"No. It's alright. As long as I get paid or I can sell something that I have."
"Oh, don't worry. I just need you to help me with the advertisement." said and then turned back to the camera
"Ah, today I'm here to give you an announcement about the next and next chapter. Okay, according to the author, it will be a battle between thunders." read the script
"So, that's why the author told me to advertise about the merch. Here it is!" showed the merch full of Ei and Boboiboy Thunderstorm
"Oh and don't worry this merch here is not made by me nor Dori." said
"But! I have created the figures! Meet Boboiboy Thunderstorm and Electro Archon Ei figures!" put the figures on the table
"Ohhhh~" looked in awe
"They're not just regular figures. They are the special ones. They can shoot out power lightning! Their weapons are stored with lightning too! Not only that, these figures are made with special materials so they cannot be destroyed! You can use them as tasers and self-defense!"
"So the cost will beeeeee $1,000!" held the price tag
"Or 100 Mora!" also held the price tag of Teyvat
"Oh, I almost forgot. You will need a special charger to charge up the figures. Dori." told her as she held up the charger
"If you are an Electro user, do not charge them up with Electro because they will cause an explosion." said as the video from behind showed up
charged up the figure with her Electro. Until the figure started heating and exploded. covered up with black and dust
"That's why you going to need a charger. This charger is very special and safety." warned them
"So the price will beeeeee 100 million and 10 cents!" held the price tag
"Or 10 million Mora!" held the price tag of Teyvat
"Ahh. One more thing. The author came up with voting. The vote about Thunderstorm vs Raiden Shogun! There will be 2 battles so pick the vote for each battle now! You don't want to miss the chance so hurry! If you win the vote, you will get a free charger!" said as the light interrupted them
"Ehh?" The paper dropped down on them
"Huh? Oh, the letter from the author. Let's see. "Inazuma quest is very long. Too much conversation and dialogue so I will make them short. About Act II, there will be two side quests to finish in order to play Act II so I will put them on the side quest story. And about Raiden Shogun's final battle, I am going to put Lumine to fight her. So there is only one voting here. I hope you understand. Sign, Martinthegamer."" finished reading and then let out a sigh
"Adu. Thank goodness. There is only one because I don't want to run out of my business."
"OK, so everyone. It's time to vote here! I vote for Raiden Shogun!" held up the flag of Ei
"Ohhh, I vote for Boboiboy Thunderstorm! Come on everyone, hurry up voting or you will miss the chance to get the prize! Let's see who will win the first battle!" put the sign on the table
Boboiboy Thunderstorm
or
Raiden Shogun
(I just add this for fun so don't take too seriously about the merch thing. Because whenever I try to make a joke, it will cause misunderstanding)
Chapter 15: Welcome to Inazuma
In Liyue Harbor
The group walked towards Katheryne who greets them with a smile
"Ad astra abyssosque! What can I do for you, Travelers?" she asked
"About the Crux Fleet..." Lumine trailed off as Katheryne smiled with a nod
"Ah yes, I've heard that you've already made arrangements with the captain of the Crux Fleet regarding your passage to Inazuma. Is that correct?
Now that I think about it, it's been quite some time since I last visited those lands. Unfortunately, I don't have any current intel that would be worth sharing with you." Katheryne told her
Lumine looked disappointed
"So what about-" Boboiboy was about to say and then someone interrupted them
"There you are! You're Travelers that Beidou will be taking to Inazuma, right?" Sea Drake, a sailor, spoke with a smile
"Never mind." Boboiboy said
"It seems our intel has arrived." Lumine said with a small smile
"The fleet has nearly completed reprovisioning. Once the crews have taken a headcount, we can get underway. Captain Beidou sent me to come get you. We'll weigh anchor as soon as you're aboard." Sea Drake told them
"Seems Beidou is a captain of her word." Paimon said
"Of course! There are many things that the Captain insists upon. I'm sure you'll see for yourself once you're on board." Sea Drake said
"So you'll be heading off then? I suppose congratulations are in order. Whether the journey before you leads to the heights of the heavens or the depths of the abyss, each step you take is another achievement. Until we meet again, ad astra abyssosque!"
Katheryne said a famous line and gave them a goodbye
"Thank you for helping us." Boboiboy bowed down
"We'll miss you..." Lumine said with a smile.
"Oh... It's kinda hard to say goodbye now... we practically see each other every day." Paimon agreed
"Hehe, well if that's how you feel, why not come and find me when you arrive? I'll be awaiting you on Narukami Island." Katheryne said
"...I knew it!" Lumine exclaimed
"So there's another Katheryne in Inazuma!? See, there's no need to get all sappy now..." Paimon said
"Wait. How many you are!?" Boboiboy(Light) almost felt his brain had stopped working because there was another Katheryne
"Haha, well I guess it's time for you to bid farewell to Liyue Harbor. Now that I've delivered my message, I'll be heading back. The ship is currently anchored off of Guyun Stone Forest." Sea Drake told them
"Okay, thanks for coming all this way to let us know!" Paimon thanked him
"Just following orders. I'll see you two aboard the Alcor." Sea Drake said that then left
-Timeskip brought to you by Chibi Boboiboy Water in the Court Trial, who's confused about why he is here. Chibi Furina claims that Chibi Boboiboy Water sleeps all day which is disturbing the people. From the inside, Chibi Furina just wants Chibi Boboiboy Water to pay attention to her-
Meet Beidou on the Alcor
The screen turned black for a moment before showing Lumine and Paimon approaching Beidou who grinned at the sight of them.
"Ah, you finally made it!" Beidou said with one hand on her hip. "All these years, come rain or storm, the Crux Fleet has never suffered a delay. If it were anyone else, I might've set sail already."
Lumine smiled sheepishly. "It's an honor to be aboard!"
"Yes. We want to thank you for letting us travel to Inazuma." Boboiboy thanked her
Beidou laughed. "Hahaha, don't look too serious, I'm only joking. You're just on time, the crew have just finished making final preparations. *sigh* Well, now that everyone's here... We set sail for the land engulfed by storm and tempest... The nation of "eternity"!"
"Anchors aweigh!" Paimon cheered.
As they make ready to ship out, the crew members of the Alcor hurry back and forth, making their final preparations, Kazuha among them. Once all is ready, Beidou gives the order, and the Alcor sets sail at last. To Inazuma!
-Timeskip brought to you by All Chibi Archons have a picnic with six Chibi owners of elements-
At Inazuma
Finally, they reached Inazuma. The group walked out behind Beidou. Lumine glanced around and the blond man was playing with a coin while sitting on a box patiently
And Boboiboy saw the man wearing dark green jittoku haori and white yukata, who was carrying three swords
"Ahoy, there!" the blond man suddenly greeted them as he ran to them with a smile "So, you finally made it. You sure kept me waiting, Captain. And it appears we have a few of stowaways... or perhaps I should say — honored guests."
His name is Thoma. Thoma's outfit is a fusion of Western-style attire with parts of samurai armor. He wears a decorative, red and black cropped jacket over a black shirt, along with a pair of silver dog tags hanging around his neck. The buttoned cuffs of his gold-trimmed kote-like sleeves are patterned with a fleur-de-lis design. He wears a black metal headband on his head, with gold-accented horns resembling the maedate (front crest) of a kabuto helmet. He wears a Pyro Vision on his belt, in addition to a kusazuri (tassel) adorned with flaming Kamisato Clan crests on the other hip. The same crest is marked on the poleyns of his boot-laced suneate (shin guards) with tabi shoes. He also has small, red studded earrings.
"Hey! Shush!" Paimon scolded nervously as Lumine shook her head
Boboiboy looked at him with a deadpanned look
"You can blame your Almighty Shogun. The tempests around Inazuma have been growing all the more fierce lately.
Though the fleet was fully up to the challenge, the inclement weather still caused some delay. Now then, let me introduce everyone. This is Thoma, a trade partner that I've gotten to know recently." Beidou introduced
"Heh, you don't know how long I've been waiting to see you." Thoma smiled
"Thoma, these three are—" Beidou was about to introduce
"No need for introductions, their reputation precedes them. Seems even the stormy seas can't keep rumors of these outlanders' sterling deeds at bay." Thoma answered
"The rumors are spreading out so fast." Boboiboy said
"Surely the rumors exaggerate." Lumine commented
"Hehe, it's sure nice to hear you say that~" Paimon did the opposite
"Ha, with any luck, it'll give you a head start here. You three, Thoma's resided on Ritou for quite some time now. It wouldn't be going too far to say he's the fixer around these parts.
If you run into any problems here, just talk to Thoma. But if he tries to pull any moves on you, I'll be sure to deal with him personally the next time I'm around." Beidou told them
"Hehehe, no need to worry. I'm sure we'll get along just fine." Thoma assured.
"Good. Then if it's all settled, I'll be going. I wouldn't want to be caught with my sails down here, I do have a wanted fugitive on board, after all." Beidou said
"Oh, right. Kazuha..." Paimon realized what she meant
"Until next time, Travelers. Remember to give it your all, no matter what perilous "storms" you may encounter." Beidou said
"We got this." Lumine nodded
"Look forward to seeing you again!" Boboiboy said
"Fair seas, Captain Beidou! Bye-bye!" Paimon waved goodbye
Beidou then went back to Alcor.
"Now then, first things first, we need to go get you registered at the border checkpoint." Thoma said
"Um, Paimon thought we were supposed to be keeping things on the down low... Are we just gonna walk into the government's hands?" Paimon asked
"Haha, don't underestimate the reaches of the Sakoku Decree. You wouldn't be able to avoid inspection even if you tried. So we have to play by the rules... even if we're kind of bending them." Thoma said
"Oh... Okay then..." Lumine agreed
As the group walked around then met the inspector named Kageyama
"Hello, please state your name, identity, and the purpose of your visit. Oh, except you, Thoma. You must be... new here." Kageyama said
"Heh..." Paimon awkwardly laughed
"Excuse me? Please provide the information requested, and also declare any goods you are carrying with you." Kageyama requested
"We are here to... trade wine. And ore." Lumine lied hesitantly
"Currently, only members of the International Trade Association are authorized to engage in the import and export of goods. Do you have your trader's permits?" Kageyama looked at the group suspected
"Um... uh... w—we—uh..." Paimon stuttered nervously.
"My apologies, but I'll have to ask you to—" Kageyama got interrupted h
"Here are their entry papers, for your kind perusal." Thoma covered them
"What!? Ugh, take your time! No rush or anything!" Paimon told him
"Haha, I just wanted to see what you'd say... sorry about that." Thoma apologized her
"...I see, okay. Your papers are all in order. Welcome to Ritou." Kageyama said
"Pheeeew..." Paimon sighed in relief "So, where do we go next?"
"The Outlander Affairs Agency. They only check entry permits here. If you want to remain on Ritou, there's a process you have to go through with them."
"Sheesh, so it is super strict, just like everyone says."
"Well, let's not forget that to everyday folk in Inazuma, people from everywhere else are referred to as "outsiders." As the word suggests, outlanders aren't very welcome in Inazuma with the in force. Not even on Ritou, where they've established an Outsider Settlement."
"Welcome or not, we don't have a choice." Lumine said with a sober expression
"Hehe, I like how you think. I've got a feeling we're going to get along very well. Now. Let's head over to the Outlander Affairs Agency.
Most of the current rules were put in place by the administration of Ritou — the Kanjou Commission." Thoma shared as they walked to their destination
"The Kanjou Commission?" Paimon asked
"Yes, one branch of the Tri-Commission of Inazuma. Responsible for growing and managing the nation's wealth. Um... you really haven't heard of it before?" Thoma asked them
They shook their heads and continued to walk in silence until they arrived
"You've completed the entry procedures, yes? And now you want to apply for residency? Both of you?" Yurika asked.
"Yes, please!" Paimon answered
"Okay. The processing fee will be two million Mora." Yurika told them which made them shocked except Thoma
"T—Two million! For a processing fee? Are you serious!?" Paimon said in shock
"That's right, one million per applicant, which makes two million total. Don't worry, you can trust my math." Yurika said with a smile but that doesn't help them better
"Paimon wasn't so much questioning your math as... Ugh..." Paimon lost in thought
"Hahaha... Ma'am, these three here are good friends of mine. I think you'll find I'm one face you recognize." Thoma told her
"Ah, Mr. Thoma, it's you. By way of courtesy, allow me to reduce it to 400,000 Mora total." Yurika said
"That is a major discount..." Lumine sweat-dropped
"Thank you ever so much, Miss Yurika. But as this is just a processing fee... I think 600 Mora should cover it if I'm paying on their behalf? I'll treat you to dinner, too. How does that sound?" Thoma asked Yurika
"That's not how you haggle! By all means, bargain the price down, but—" Paimon got interrupted
"Alright then. As you wish, Mr. Thoma. I will make a record." Yurika nodded
"Hee-hee, much obliged." Thoma laughed as the group looked at the two with incredulous gazes
"Hehehe." Boboiboy sweat-dropped
Yurika leads them inside the building
The residency application is processed smoothly at the Outlander Affairs Agency
Thoma and the group leave for the entrance to the Agency
"What!? She went from two million down to 600? There's something seriously wrong with people's sense of finance around here!" Paimon felt unease
"I think it's about more than the Mora."
"Reminds me of someone else with Mora..."
"Hehe, it's not as mind-boggling as you think. "Processing fee" is just a figure of speech. The way some here at the agency see it, the fees are easy money, so it becomes a question of how much they can make.
So when the day comes that some poor merchant from overseas with more money than sense gets stuck here and needs to apply for residency..." Thoma told them
"Then they'll milk them for all they're worth!" Paimon exclaimed
"Exactly. It's at times like this that having a local friend really comes in handy." Thoma nodded
"That's blatant oppression against outlanders... Doesn't anyone push back?" Lumine asked with a frown
"Yes, but when you're an outlander in Inazuma, far from home, in this closed-nation era, there's very little that can be done about it.
The most that overseas merchants can do to look after themselves is stick together. That's how the International Trade Association came about." Thoma explained
"So it's a trade association built by and for outlanders?" Paimon asked
"Yep, and as well as advancing commercial interests, the association provides help, support, and structure for outlanders trying to survive on Ritou. Essentially, it's an association devoted to both commercial excellence and survival skills." Thoma said
"So how would an outlander ever get to meet..."
"The Raiden Shogun feels further away than ever..."
"*sigh* Sounds like just stayin' alive is an achievement when you're an outlander in Inazuma..." Paimon sighed
"I see... so this is the real purpose of your trip. Yes, given that you are outlanders, it's certainly a lofty aspiration.
After all, the Raiden Shogun is the most exalted and revered one in all of Inazuma. She is a deity who reigns on high, while all other life gazes up in awe." Thoma told them
"That may well be..." Boboiboy held his chin to think
"I still have to find a way!" Lumine insisted
"... I was going to say, nothing is set in stone when it comes to who you will encounter in this world. Who's to say you won't happen to run into the Raiden Shogun one day after lunch..." Thoma told her
"Uh-huh... And is that likely...?" Paimon looked at him
"Okay, I'll give it to you straight. I know of a way to introduce you to the Raiden Shogun." Thoma revealed which made them surprised
"Really!? Wow, the Ritou fixer is better connected than we thought!" Paimon said
"Ahem, hehe — I mean, it will take all the resources I have at my disposal, but it can be done. However, before we get there... Connections come at a high price, you understand?" Thoma smirked. The group looked at him with deadpanned
"Ugh, not you too!" Paimon said
"Hahaha! No, no... In this instance, when I say price, I'm not talking about Mora.
In fact, there's no real cost, as such. It's just that... if this is something you really want, you'll have to agree to help other people solve some of their problems first.
I like to do things in a way that keeps everybody happy. It's my own personal rule for dealing with situations like this." Thoma said
"Sounds very reasonable to Paimon! You're the man in the middle, so you have to trade favors to keep everyone indebted to you." Paimon smiled
"The fixer works in mysterious ways... " Lumine sighed "So, what's the job?"
"Heh... Why do I get the feeling you're making me out to be some sort of crook... Uh, never mind. Here's the situation. As I touched upon earlier, the members of the International Trade Association are constantly struggling to survive.
Recently, things seem to have gotten more difficult than ever for them. So just go and check things out, see if there's any way you can help. The head of the association is called Kurisu, and he's a good friend of mine. Go talk to him, I'll wait for you here." Thoma told them
The group nodded and then left to find Kurisu
"Oh? Hello there, you must be seeking refuge with the International Trade Association. The Outlander Affairs Agency took you for all you're worth, I suppose." Kurisu said with a tired voice
"Very nearly..." Lumine agreed
"Ah, good, that's a relief. *sigh* ...You need to be careful, or you'll find yourself losing your savings all at once." Kurisu advised them
"We heard the association has been having some difficulties lately. Is that true?" Paimon asked
"Yes... left, right, and center. Obstacles at every turn. But that's nothing new for us." Kurisu answered
"The Sakoku Decree certainly makes things difficult for anyone who wants to come here from overseas." Paimon said
"But it's not the root cause of our woes. The Sakoku Decree might restrict our scope of activity, but in and of itself it doesn't stop us from being able to enjoy a comfortable existence. No, what's really squeezing us outlander merchants dry is... ...those Mora-grubbers from the Kanjou Commission." Kurisu ssaid
"Oh, of the three Commissions, that's the one that oversees everything on Ritou, isn't it?" Paimon asked
"That's right. They impose astronomical tax rates, unbelievable regulations, and that's not the worst of it...
They just issued a new Tax Decree recently that, for some reason, completely changes the way we pay our taxes. It used to be Mora, but now it's something called Crystal Marrow." Kurisu told them
"Crystal Marrow...?" Lumine said
"What's that?" Boboiboy asked in curious
"Something that most of us in the association had never heard of before either, until the new decree came along. Eventually, one of the older Liyue merchants recalled that he once shipped a batch of it to in his youth.
So in order to pay our taxes, we began an arduous search for this Crystal Marrow. But then we found we'd only managed to create a bigger problem for ourselves. The rising demand for Crystal Marrow drove the price higher and higher...
Now, there's only one vendor who even has it in stock. We can't get hold of it anywhere else..." Kurisu explained
"Uh... isn't that what they call a monopoly?" Paimon confused
"Exactly. So this vendor keeps pushing the price up, and we have no choice but to buy from them because the Tax Decree forces us to... It's a vicious cycle, the consequence of which is that our taxes will soon exceed our profits... and once that happens..." Kurisu stuttered
"Can't you discuss the situation with the Kanjou Commission?" Lumine asked
"We've tried communicating with the commission directly... But this is a nation where the cries of a few struggling merchants will never be heard over the ever-present roar of thunder...*sigh* Fontaine, my dear homeland... I miss you an awful lot at the moment..."
"Sounds awful, they're really bleeding them dry. Lumine, Boboiboy, what do you think we should do?" Paimon asked
Boboiboy held his chin to think but Lumine said
"That vendor does sound like a fishy character."
"*sigh* That vendor...I've actually done business with him in the past, but after a point, he stopped contacting us. I have no idea where he sources the stuff..." Kurisu said
"Hmm... Well, it definitely sounds like he's being unfair. How do we find him? We could go talk to him and see if he lets anything slip." Paimon asked
"Hey, that's a pretty good idea! Since you're not affiliated with the association and you're new to Ritou, he may just let his guard down.
If I remember correctly, our usual meeting point with him is under a tree by the coast in the residential district. See if you can find him there." Kurisu told them
"Got it! We're on the case!" Paimon said
With that, the group traveled to their destination and chatted with Werner, the suspicious vendor.
"Hm? I don't think I recognize you, are you new arrivals?" he asked.
"Yes, we just arrived." Lumine said.
"So. What do you need with me?" Werner asked
"Where do you source your goods?" Lumine bluntly asked.
"The sheer nerve! You don't go around asking questions like that! If I gave you my sources, I might as well hand you the whole darn business! Trade secret, got it? You know what "trade" and "secret" mean, right? Tsk."
"This guy's got a bad attitude..." Paimon shrugged
"Can you... reduce your prices?" Lumine said
"Hah! Are you even buying!? ...Ohh, I see what's going on here. Kurisu and his associates sent you here to try and plead their case, didn't they? Heh, they're wasting their time. The price is non-negotiable, not by a single Mora."
"Hey, what's your problem!?" Paimon said angrily
"Get out of here, go on. Tell them they're lucky to be buying from me in the first place, and they ought to be more grateful. If it weren't for me, they'd be in seriously hot water."
"What are we gonna do? There's no talking to this guy..." Paimon asked Lumine
"Time to get the real fixer on the case..." Lumine told Paimon "Let's go talk to Thoma."
"Good idea. Let's check back in with him." Paimon said as they went to meet Thoma
"Hm? That was quick... You resolved it already?" Thoma asked
"Um, actually we're having a little trouble..." Paimon shyly said
"You're going to have to help us help you." Lumine said
"Oh? Well, by all means, tell me what you need. I'll help as much as I can. Getting you to go fixing things when you've only just arrived is quite a demand." Thoma scratched back of his head
"What do you know about Werner, Thoma?" Boboiboy asked
"Oh, that guy? I'm familiar. He used to be a bit of a sorry sight, selling shells that he'd collect on the beach just to get by. But he seems to have suddenly shot up in the world recently. I can only assume he must have found himself a patron after leaving the International Trade Association." Thoma told them
"Huh? You're saying he used to be a member of the International Trade Association? So he's an outlander, too?" Paimon asked
"Yes... couldn't you tell when you spoke to him?" Thoma said
"It seemed like he's from Mondstadt." Boboiboy said
"At least, I didn't get the impression he was a local." Lumine added
"That's right, Werner was born in Mondstadt, then went into the shipping business, trading between Liyue and Inazuma. When Inazuma closed to the outside world, he was one of a group of outlanders that ended up stranded on Ritou."
"Huh, what a bummer..." Paimon said
"The International Trade Association was initially very generous to him, but over time, with decree after decree, the association members found it increasingly difficult to make ends meet..."
"So, he left the association and turned his back on them!" Paimon was surprised
"Haha, I'm sure it's more nuanced than that. I believe even the most ungrateful and cold-hearted of people still have some amount of gratitude and warmth left in them somewhere."
"I'll go back and talk to him again." Lumine nodded
"Really? Is that all you need to know?" Paimon asked in surprise
"Well then, it sounds like you may have found a way in with him." Thoma said with a pleased look as the group left to meet Werner again who looked at them with a frown
"What are you doing back here? Just 'cause I got plenty of time on my hands doesn't mean I want to waste any of it talking to you."
"It was the wind that led me back here to you." Lumine stated
"Huh? Where's this coming from..." he asked in confusion
"A Dandelion Wine would sure be nice on a day like this..." Boboiboy added
Werner realized what they were talking about. "...Mondstadt... You're talking about... Mondstadt?"
Lumine calmly handed him a Mondstadt Local Specialty from her inventory
"Goodness, I can sense it now. So familiar, but I can't remember the last time I was there..." Werner said with a nostalgic look "Ah, the scent of Mondstadt... Oh, how it takes me back..."
"May the Anemo Archon protect you." Lumine and Boboiboy said at the same time, seeing him weaken his resolve
"*sigh* My hometown... The home of freedom...! How I long to go back and visit..."
"Ooh, it's working..." Paimon cheered which seemed to wake up Werner
"Ah... Oh — ahem! So, trying to play my heartstrings like a lyre are you? I know what you're up to." he strictly said
"Close your eyes..." Lumine ordered
"Huh? What is this, what are you up to now?" he asked suspiciously
"Just close your eyes already!" Paimon yelled in frustration which scared him to obedience.
"Listen closely... doesn't it sound familiar...?" Lumine asked
"You mean... the sound of the ocean?"
"Grilled Tiger Fish, get it while it's hot!" Lumine said
"*gasp* Liyue Harbor! I can see it so clearly! Oh, and the sound of the waves, the calls of the merchants..."
"May the flames of virtue spread to all... never be extinguished!"
"Xiao Lanterns! Haha, I'm right there, at the Lantern Rite! Oh... look at them, floating up into the sky!"
"This guy has a really active imagination... either that or he really does miss Liyue Harbor..." Paimon shrugged
"*sigh* Liyue, Liyue..." Werner kept sighing
For her final act, Lumine handed him a Liyue Local Specialty
"Wait... Stop, that's enough... Don't make me relive it any more, my poor heart can't take it..." he pleaded.
"A lot of people have supported you in the past." Lumine told him
"You mean... the folks from the International Trade Association... And I suppose they are far from home, just like me.
Often, I'll sneak down to the shore at night and listen to the sound of the waves... I like to imagine it's the voice of my hometown, carried across the ocean. I've run into folks from the association more than a few times doing just that, but I always hide my face and slip away...
*sigh* Don't you think I've wanted to talk things through with them, and free myself from this anguish?" Werner asked
"Um... well, no one's stopping you, so..." Paimon trailed off.
"They're so resilient. None of them had anyone else to rely on, so they rallied together, committed to finding a way to survive... But I couldn't do it, I'm not strong enough...
So... I caved... Those people, they'd make the smallest of promises, offer the most measly benefits, and I'd do whatever they asked of me... and make Mondstadters look like the worst people in the world..."
"Who are "those people"?" Boboiboy questioned
"...Alright, I'll tell you the whole story. It's eating me up inside and I can't take it anymore."
"You're ready to talk now?" Paimon said
"Come get a drink with your friends from the association." Lumine offered with a soft smile
"But I betrayed them... I can't show my face there..."
"Ugh, c'mon you scaredy-cat! Look, you messed up, but now it's time to make things right!" Paimon exclaimed in frustration "So, come on, get it off your chest. What's the deal here?"
"It's a scheme by the tax-collection ashigaru and his companions. They start by overtaxing the merchants, then take the extra Crystal Marrow they receive and stockpile it.
Once the merchants run out of places to buy Crystal Marrow, they get me to sell that extra stock back to the merchants at an extortionate price, with the proceeds going to the tax-collection ashigaru." Werner told them
"It's just... it's plain evil, gouging them like this." Paimon said in shock.
"I'm their puppet, yes... but my cut is a tiny fraction of what we take in total. It's barely enough for me to live on."
"We need evidence." Lumine said with a frown
"Evidence? Hmm... You're right, without conclusive evidence, he will never admit it. Now that I think about it, whenever I report back to him after a sale, he always heads to the same place. It's always made me suspicious...
As it happens, I handed some Mora over to him not long ago. I can show you where he went if you want." Werner revealed
"Really? Well, then there's no time to lose! Let's go." Paimon said as they left to find Keijirou
"Keijirou! It's him!" Werner pointed
"After him!" Paimon yelled as they tailed the man until he stopped in front of a stall
"Ah, Ryouko. How's business?" he asked
"Heh... All the better thanks to your generous patronage." the lady, Ryouko, said
"Good! Thankfully, I earn plenty these days..."
"But of course, tax collection is difficult work."
With that, he walked away while murmuring. "Now, who else is behind on payments? Let me think... yes, the trade association clique still need to be brought into line."
With that, he started walking faster as the group continued trailing after him "Hm? What was that sound..." he asked, stopping a bit and looking around as the group quickly hid
"Shh... Quiet! Don't let him find us!" Paimon whispered
"Must be hearing things. Drat, I'm behind schedule. I need to hurry..." shrugging it off, the man ran away
The group continued trailing after him until they reached an isolated place where the man kneeled down a little, seemingly touching the ground, before standing up and rushing to leave. Once they couldn't see the man anymore, the group left their hiding place
"What could he be doing at a place like this..." Werner wondered
"It looked like he buried something over there, didn't it? Why don't we take a look?" Paimon suggested as they looked at the place Keijirou was kneeling a while ago
"Whoa, it's... a ledger...Boring... Paimon thought he'd hidden a big pile of Mora here." Paimon said in disappointed
"Even if we did find Mora, we would give it to the trade association." Lumine reminded her companion
"Ehehe, yeah..." Paimon laughed nervously
"Hehehe. That's awesome." Boboiboy gave them a thumb-up
"Let me take a look here..." Werner said. "Aha, yes. This is what we're looking for. A clear and complete record of every single transaction, each one proof of his guilt."
"Great! Well, now we have our hard evidence, let's go tell Kurisu the good news, shall we?" Paimon said
"Ah, um... I—I'll say goodbye to you here, then." Werner said nervously
"Huh? You aren't gonna come with us?" Paimon asked
"I... I need a little more time before I'm ready to face the head of the association. I'm sorry." Werner said and left
"*sigh* Poor Werner's a pretty awkward guy, huh..." Paimon said as the two nodded
So the group went back until they went to confront Kurisu who was arguing with Keijirou
"But we really don't have anything left. If this keeps up, our sales will come in at a loss. There'll be nothing left for us to do but starve..." Kurisu said
"You know the decree. The rules are the rules. No discounts, no exceptions — and no excuses!" Keijirou ruthlessly stated
"You're the one making a mockery of the rules here, Keijirou!" Lumine immediately intervened
"Hmm? And who are you? Another new member of the association?"
"It just so happens that we found your little ledger. So now we're here to tell everyone all about how you embezzled Crystal Marrow to sell it right back to the tax payers!" Paimon revealed as Boboiboy brought out the papers which made Keịirou's eyes widened
"Huh? Is this true!?" Kurisu exclaimed
"You've been swindling us!" Harrison, another member, accused
"Well, uh... You see... The t—taxes, uh..." Keijirou stuttered
"Let me take a look at the ledger." Kurisu said as Boboiboy gave him
After reading the whole ledger, Kurisu scoffed "Well would you look at that... Every payment the association has made is right here in your personal ledger. So, Mr. Keijirou, it seems you have some explaining to do. How shall we settle this, hmm?"
"Hmph! So you think you can use this against me do you? I—It's quite obvious that I'm merely trying to earn a modest living for myself, like anyone else...!" Keijirou tried to cover himself up
"Word has it that samurai in the commission place great importance on reputation and prestige... Though, I'm sure commission members won't blame you once word gets out..."
"Huh? Is that a threat? Are you threatening me!?" Keijirou said angrily
"No, not at all. I'm simply stating that it would be quite a pity if an illustrious gentleman such as yourself were to have their reputation tarnished." Kurisu said
"Uhh... W—Well even if what you say is true, what do you suggest we do about it...?" Keijirou stuttered
"I believe you still have a quantity of Crystal Marrow in your possession, correct? Perhaps that Crystal Marrow could be used as compensation for the recent tax hike, and us merchants could finally have some more breathing room."
"Is that it?" Paimon asked in disappointment
"Hmph, do you have any idea the hoops I had to jump through to get the Crystal Marrow and keep it hidden!? Ugh, fine! In that case, I'll send it over to you today." Keijirou said
"And not even an ounce of shame for his actions..." Paimon told her friends
"So that's it!? My shop's been closed for weeks now — I've even had to ask my friends to help bail me out! What about my losses!?" Harrison said angrily
"Come on, Harrison! We've already struck a good deal here..." Kurisu tried pacifying him
"I'm sick of being pushed around like this! I won't let him off so easily!" Harrison declared
"Harrison!" Kurisu scolded just as someone approached them
"Hey! What's all this racket? Does someone dare question the decree?" the man, Katsuie, shouted
"Ah, Chief. You've arrived." Keijirou greeted
"What was all the commotion I heard just now?" Katsuie demanded
"Oh, we were just discussing a minor tax issue. I do my utmost to lend them a helping hand, but they're never grateful." Keijirou lied
"A helping hand!? The only thing you're doing is stuffing your greedy pockets with our hard-earned wealth. I assure you that Hiiragi Shinsuke will hear of this!" Harrison revealed
"Oh? And you dare to utter the Commissioner's name? You outlanders have no respect for the rules. Seize the merchants! We will resolve this dispute back at headquarters!" Katsuie commanded
"Uh-oh, this is going in a bad direction..." Paimon said
"Gentlemen, gentlemen. Come now, is there any need for this? If there's a dispute to resolve, let's get a drink and talk it over." Thoma suddenly appeared.
"Who are you supposed to be? And why in my right mind would I join you for a drink?" Keijirou said
"Ha! You never heard of the fixer!?" Paimon shouted
"That title doesn't have any weight with these people." Lumine told her companion who looked shocked
"Here's my card..." Thoma said and handed them his card
"Huh... you're from the Yashiro Commission?" Katsuie recognized
"Shh..." Thoma told him to stay quiet
"Hmph, well, this is Kanjou Commission territory. However powerful the Yashiro Commission may be, you have no business meddling in Ritou's affairs." Katsuie said
"Of course not. Of course not. Still, perhaps you could show the young lady of our clan some courtesy... You wouldn't want your names showing up in a petition to the shogun, would you?" Thoma held the fan
"That fan... the Shirasagi Himegimi...I don't need any trouble with her. Okay, let's forget all this. It'll give us one less thing to worry about." Katsuie saw the fan and then stayed quiet
"But Chief..." Keijirou tried to tell him but
"Enough! We're leaving." Katsuie told him as the two left
"Let's get dinner one day soon, gentlemen. My treat. I insist." Thoma waved but was ignored which made him shrug "Eh, no response, huh... I suppose that bridge is well and truly burned, then."
"Thank you so much, Thoma... But I'm sorry your relationship with the Kanjou Commission had to suffer for our sake..." Kurisu said in an apologetic tone
"Haha. Hey, hey, I was joking. It's a small price to pay and you're more than welcome. If there's anyone you should be thanking, it's them. They're the one who found a way to turn things around. If nothing else, I'm sure the tax-collection ashigaru will tread a little more carefully in future."
"Thoma... what was all that—" Paimon questioned but was shushed by the blondie
"Shh... Not here, too many people listening, haha. Let's move somewhere else." Thoma recommended as the group left to talk
"Corruption seems rife in the Kanjou Commission, they truly are rotten to the core... *sigh* Alright. Time for me to answer your questions. What would you like to know?" Thoma asked
"Tell me about the Shirasagi Himegimi." Lumine asked, interested in the name the two soldiers feared
"Haha, straight to the point. Let me re-introduce myself. I belong to the of the Yashiro Commission on Narukami Island. I'm an attendant of the Shirasagi Himegimi." Thoma introduced
"Ugh, you've been keeping your true identity a secret from us this whole time! So, the Yashiro Commission. Guessing that's another branch of the Tri-Commission?" Paimon guessed
"Correct. The Kamisato Clan is the head of the Yashiro Commission, who manage ceremonial and cultural affairs. I'd go into more detail on what exactly that covers, but I'm not even sure myself.
I'm just someone who was fortunate enough to be taken in by the Kamisato Clan. My role is to take care of the daughter of the clan — Kamisato Ayaka, also known as the Shirasagi Himegimi." Thoma told them
"Seems like she must be super-famous in Inazuma, given the reaction of those guys just now." Paimon said
"Hahaha... Oh, most definitely. She's graceful, dignified, and kind-hearted, too. The people of Inazuma quite adore Miss Kamisato. Her fame even somewhat eclipses that of her older brother, Kamisato Ayato, despite the fact that he is the current head of the clan.
I suppose those who treat others with compassion earn themselves the same treatment in return. Miss Kamisato's situation certainly seems to attest to that. Take me, for example — I'm just an attendant, and yet she treats me as an equal, as she would a friend." Thoma told
"So as her attendant... are we helping you or her..." Boboiboy asked
"You're asking the right questions. And to be honest, I don't want to keep you in the dark any more than is necessary. Firstly, you should know that being a fixer is not something you can fake. I spent the better part of a month tirelessly building up a network of relationships on the island, and I got to know Captain Beidou during that time, too."
"Still pretty good going for just a month's work!" Paimon impressed
"Haha, well, maybe I have a slight knack for schmoozery. But the main thing was, I had to make sure I'd be in time to receive you when you arrived. Inazuma may have closed off to the outside world, but that hasn't stopped a lot of people from hearing about your feats in Mondstadt and Liyue.
So, when Miss Kamisato heard of your intention to come to Inazuma, she began looking forward to your arrival with great anticipation. She's excited to find out whether the rumors are true...that is, that you have what it takes to change the tide of the times."
"Change the tide of the times?" Paimon confused
"In the test that I gave you earlier, although there were a few hiccups at the end, it was you who found the way to turn the situation around. Navigating powerful people, using their character flaws to your advantage... it's just what Miss Kamisato had hoped to see. With your help... even the Vision Hunt Decree—"
"I refuse." Lumine bluntly said with a frown
"...Ah. Hmm, that's an unexpected development. Perhaps our sources were misleading..." Thoma held his chin to think
"I have one goal here: to meet the Raiden Shogun." Lumine explained
"...Yes, of course. I completely understand, and as agreed, I shall help set that up for you." Thoma then decided
"Huh, Thoma sure didn't put up much of a fight..." Paimon confused
"Hah... Well, my work on Ritou is done, so I suppose this is goodbye for now. Oh, one more thing — this Invitation Letter is for you... When you get to Narukami Island, you can find me at , as per the letter. Good luck with everything. See you soon." Thoma gave them a letter and left
"Thoma's not such a bad guy, huh. We should get going." Paimon said that then Lumine just realized something
"But...There is one problem..." Lumine said
"Huh? What's up?" Paimon asked then Boboiboy realized something too
"Outlanders are unable to leave Ritou." Lumine told them
"We almost forgot about that." Boboiboy said
"Wait, so... did Thoma forget that, too?" Paimon said
"I think perhaps not..." Lumine pursed her lips "This must be the next part of his "test.""
"Darn it! Grr, no wonder he was so matter-of-fact about the whole thing! As soon as we get off Ritou, Paimon's going straight to Komore Teahouse to settle the score!" Paimon yelled before sighing, giving up "Ugh, well, guess we should give it a try. Let's head to the border and see how far we get."
With that, they tried leaving but were held up by a kanjou commission officer
The named Kobayashi asks them if they have their Travel Permits but they don't have one so he asks them to leave. The group starts discussing how to get out of Ritou then Lumine has an idea. She wonders if the Kanjou Commission has heard of them so they can ask them for Travel Permits
The group goes there and meets a man named Hiiragi Shinsuke. He welcomes them and introduces himself as Kanjou Commissioner and head of the Hiiragi Clan
He asks them for his assistance and they accept it. Hiiragi asks for 300 Qingxin but they can't accept that kind of request. So he asks them for their help to deliver a few items for him. The group feels relief at first. Hiiragi reveals about delivering 709 letters. The group is shocked again
While the group speaks to Hiiragi Shinsuke, an unfamiliar lady appears not far behind Shinsuke. She carefully exchanges glances with Lumine and Boboiboy
The two don't know why so they deal with that later. The group tells Hiiragi that they will consider it and the man nods
The group leaves the Kanjou Commissioner's Office but gets stopped by the guard. Paimon doesn't know what they did but the two know what's going on. The guard gives them a letter from Miss Hiiragi
Lightly-Perfumed Letter:
Dear Travelers,
Would that I could convey this message to you in person.
I apologize for the hasty means by which this letter has come to you, and I hope that it hasn't left you feeling perplexed or perturbed in any way.
This is my first time extending an invitation to an unknown outlander, after all.
It is no mere coincidence that our paths have crossed.
Therefore,
I hope that you would be so courteous as to meet me tonight, under the glow of resplendent moonlight.
Please do not fret about retainers and bodyguards, I will ensure that their attention shall be elsewhere.
So the group decides to meet her at night
-Timeskip brought to you by Chibi Boboiboy Blaze and Chibi Wriothesley walked closer to each other menacing-
The girl introduces herself Hiiragi Chisato, a daughter of the Hiiragi Clan. She acts strange a little bit so she reveals that she needs their help. Helping her deliver a letter. Lumine and Paimon decide to choose to leave but she stops them and explains why
She was hoping that they could deliver a letter to Narukami Island in her stead. It is to be given to Kujou Kamaji of the Tenryou Commission. But her father has always forbidden her from communicating with him. He knows that there are prospects for her marriage that would better serve him politically. But her heart is with Kamaji
There is no one who would dare defy her father's will on Ritou, but the group is outlanders — outlanders seeking to get to Narukami Island. It would be regrettable to let such an opportunity pass
They understand and decide to help her. Also, she tells them about the conversation between her father and a very arrogant-sounding woman just a few days ago. Her father is planning to keep the group on Ritou. They feel suspicious about them
Chisato then says that they don't have much time. She will tell them her plans to help you off the island so she gives them A Love Letter
Oh, before they leave, they walk up to the Statue of Seven. Lumine obtains Electro element from it
The group arrives at Ritou's border and meets two guards Shinnojou and Kenzaburou. Shinnojou seems to blush when he sees Chisato
Kenzaburou asks her if is there something wrong. She answers nothing is wrong and lies about her father simply has some concerns of the shipment's safety, and has ordered that she and an additional qualified escort be dispatched to ensure safe transport of the goods
She even says that her father wants them to arrive on time or punishment will be duly dispensed if it fails to do so they start delivering
While they deliver, they encounter some Treasure Hoarders. Sometimes later, Lumine and Boboiboy Blaze defeat them
The group continues delivering and they encounter more Treasure Hoarders. More time later, Lumine and Boboiboy Blaze defeat them again
After successfully escorting the transport balloon, Chisato thanks Lumine and Boboiboy. She tells them to give the Love Letter to Kamaji so he will grant them a special Travel Permit from the Tenryou Commission
Shinnojou feels uncomfortable and asks her who is Kamaji. She is not afraid to say that he's the one she loves
That makes Shinnojou's heart break into pieces. Kenzaburou thinks Shinnojou is in love with her but Shinnojou denies it
Chisato tells them not to tell her father about this so the guards decide to keep the secret and Shinnojou tries his best to hold his tears
The group and Chisato decide to say goodbye and apart away
"Whew, we're finally on our own way again! I suppose it's time we find Thoma. Now where did he say he would meet us again... Right, Komore Teahouse!" Paimon said as they went on their way
Oh, they have met the man named Kamaji and asked him for the Travel Permit
After a bit of asking from the folks, they finally found the teahouse.
"According to the letter, this should be the place." Paimon said
"Sorry, we don't serve the general public. I'm afraid you'll have to leave." Kozue, a staff, apologized
"Wait! We're not the general public..." Paimon panicked
"Well then... you must be the wandering outlanders that snuck into the nation... judging by your attire." Kozue looked at their appearances
"Are our clothes really so— oh! Uh... What Paimon means to say is—" Paimon tried to tell her but
Lumine helped out her companion "Here's our Invitation letter."
"Hmm, the Yashiro Commission's seal... this must be from Mr. Thoma. It seems there's more to you than meets the eye." Kozue mused "In which case, welcome to the Komore Teahouse, a safe haven for the Yashiro Commission."
"Well, that sounds more like it." Paimon smiled as the lady let them enter
"Well, now that we're here, where's Thoma?" Paimon asked "*sigh* Paimon doesn't see him anywhere, do you think he forgot his promise to meet us?"
"Who forgot their promise? I was beginning to think you'd forgotten about me!" the three were shocked and looked at where the voice came from, only to see a dog squatting on the counter
"Apakah!?" Boboiboy looked in shock
"Wh—Wh—What!? Is that dog talking to us!?" Paimon freaked out.
"Hahaha, relax, no need to look so surprised. I take it this is the first time you've seen me in this form?" the dog said
"Where did the human-looking Thoma go?" Boboiboy asked
"Huh, so you didn't see anything like this when you were in Liyue Harbor?" Thoma asked
"Ah, now that you mention it, this does suddenly seem less out of the ordinary..." Paimon calmed down
"I know a dog when I see one." Lumine said bluntly
"Hahaha. Alright, alright, I've had my fun." Thoma laughed as he walked behind the door
The three looked at him with deadpanned
"Hey! You're this close to getting an ugly nickname, mister!" Paimon said
"Hehe, well, I've had some time to kill, given that I've been waiting here for you for so long... as was the case in Ritou...
So I came up with this little fun greeting for when you arrived. But, in all seriousness, I would like to apologize about that little "test" you went through earlier. Though it was quite necessary...
It helped us determine whether or not to bring you before Miss Kamisato, and whether you had the courage to face the lightning alongside us." Thoma told them
"Hmph. Don't think that Paimon's gonna forgive you just because you're getting all serious now!" Paimon reminded him
"Haha... Sorry, did I overdo it? My apologies." Thoma apologized them
""The courage to face the lightning"...?" Lumine asked
"Let me just say this, you've often found yourself skirting "the rules" from the very beginning, haven't you? Naturally, this is due to your unwavering and resolute determination. A long time ago, we had a friend who was much the same... but when the lightning struck..." Thoma explained which made them realize who he referred to
"You mean he died in a duel before the throne..." Lumine said
"Ah, so you've heard of his story, hmm...His light still burns all the more brightly..."
"So will we be allowed to meet the Shirasagi Himegimi?" Lumine asked
"Yes, of course. I will bring you to the Kamisato residence, where the Yashiro Commission is located. But before that, there is one other place I was hoping you both would accompany me to." Thoma asked for their help
"Oh? Where?" Paimon asked
Thoma smiled bitterly "I would like you to come with me to the Statue of the Omnipresent God. It's still under construction now, but you can already see it from practically anywhere on Narukami Island."
-Timeskip brought to you by Chibi Boboiboy and Chibi Lumine play Genius Invokation TCG. They have a duel. Also, Chibi Boboiboy has his own character cards-
At the Statue of the Omnipresent God
"This area sure feels gloomy. People probably don't come here often, do they? Huh, are Paimon's eyes playing tricks, or are there things embedded in the statue...?" Paimon said
"Visions." Thoma said somberly as the group looked at the statue. They were shocked at the ton of Visions on the statue
"Visions! You mean all the Visions that are collected from the Vision Hunt Decree are put into this statue!?" Paimon asked in shock
"What in the?..." Boboiboy didn't know what to say about this 'Why did she do this?'
"So you've already heard of the Vision Hunt Decree." Thoma said
"Why did the shogun issue the Vision Hunt Decree?" Lumine asked
"Before I try to explain, I should perhaps remind you first that Mondstadt is the City of Freedom, and Liyue is the City of Contracts... As for Inazuma... It's known as the Nation of Eternity.
The Raiden Shogun is both the nation's most powerful ruler, and its deity. The "eternity" in question... is her endless and unchanging will to rule over Inazuma.
As such, she relies on the Tri-Commission to regulate the nation's affairs, and the Sakoku Decree to limit the people's movement. The shogun wishes to keep Inazuma in stasis, allowing the stream of time to flow from one end to the other without disturbing it, for all time." Thoma said
"Seems like every god has their own will..." Paimon commented
"Of course, this is my own limited understanding. As for the reason behind the recent Vision Hunt Decree...
Perhaps the shogun believes that Visions grant people the power to change, and that her eternity doesn't allow for such instability to exist.
Whatever the case, the fact is that the Raiden Shogun has dispatched the Tenryou Commission to scour the nation for Visions, embedding each one in this statue... and this Statue of the Omnipresent God can be seen as Inazuma's symbol of eternity." Thoma looked at the statue with a sad look
"But if that's the case, wouldn't you say that the Raiden Shogun is being... I don't know, selfish?" Paimon said
"Haha, only outlanders such as yourselves would ever dare speak out so directly against the Raiden Shogun. And yet... I agree. The Vision Hunt Decree is something that simply should not exist, and Miss Kamisato has been committed to fighting it since the day it was announced." Thoma finished speaking
Lumine's focus was on the statue before curiosity got the best of her and she touched it. Once she made contact with it, voices suddenly entered her head, causing her to hold it in pain
"Lumine, are you okay?" Boboiboy asked worriedly
"You look like your mind is elsewhere." Paimon said with a worried look
"What was that... sound just now?" Lumine muttered in slight pain, still holding her head
Thoma looked confused "Sound? What sound? I didn't hear anything... did something happen?"
"Yeah, you touched the statue, and then... and then what?" Paimon said
"I could hear the sound of... people's aspirations." Lumine explained
""Aspirations"? Hmm... That would seem to confirm the saying. Have you heard it before? That when a person's ambition reaches a certain strength, the gods look upon them with favor.
That is where Visions come from... In other words, a person's Vision represents their ambition. So, if what you just said is true...then the ambitions of these people are stronger than I imagined." Thoma explained
"So a Vision symbolizes ambition, and not power..." Lumine realized
Boboiboy tried out too but there is nothing. The three didn't notice him
'Huh. It didn't work. It must be something have to do with Lumine's power.' Boboiboy(Light) thought
"Alright. Time for the next stop on our tour of Narukami Island: the Kamisato residence." Thoma said
"Whew, finally!" Paimon sighed as they all left
-Timeskip brought to you by Chibi Azar the Grand Sage, who has a smug face. The Chibi elemental brothers along with Chibi Lumine and Chibi Sumeru characters point their weapons at him and are ready to kill him-
They entered the Kamisato Estate
"So this is the kind of place where the big shots of Inazuma live, huh? Paimon kinda expected it to be... snazzier." Paimon said when they arrived
"It's hard to top the Jade Chamber." Lumine shrugged
"Welcome, at last, to the Kamisato residence, honored guests. Miss Kamisato is delighted to finally meet you." Thoma greeted but no one showed up
"Where is she, Thoma?" Boboiboy asked
"Is this the Shirasagi Himegimi you keep going on about?" Paimon asked.
"Ahem..." a feminine and elegant voice called out from a screen
"Oh... uh, behind the screen?" Paimon said
"Yes, haha, as the daughter of the Yashiro Commission, this is how Miss Kamisato is accustomed to receiving guests. Consider it a time-honored tradition within the Yashiro Commission. Forgive me if this is an unwelcome surprise." Thoma told them
"I think I understand." Lumine nodded
"Makes sense, she's a super-important person after all." Paimon said
"Hello, it's nice to meet you, Miss Kamisato." Boboiboy greeted
"It's nice to meet you too and please forgive my lack of courtesy for receiving you in this fashion... especially following such a long and wearisome journey over the sea. I have awaited your arrival with great anticipation, and Thoma assures me that you do indeed possess the power to change the tide of the times.
At present in Inazuma, in the name of the Vision Hunt Decree, the people's aspirations are being senselessly trampled underfoot. Though the Yashiro Commission serves the shogun, it is the people with whom we share close bonds, given the contact we are required to have with them in the performance of our duties.
A commission's power rises and falls with the trust of their people. Thus, we cannot remain indifferent to this situation without also remaining indifferent to our own fate. Traveler, lend us your power, and we can—"
"I'm just here to meet the Raiden Shogun. I did not come to start a rebellion." Lumine interrupted with a tired look. Boboiboy looked at Lumine in disappointment
"Oh..." Ayaka uttered with obvious disappointment
"See, milady, it's just like I said... this will take us nowhere..." Thoma said
"I'm going to leave now." Lumine announced as she turned around
"No, please... wait! Please... Don't go..." Ayaka exclaimed with panic "*sigh*"
"What?" Lumine raised her eyebrow
'I will introduce you to the Raiden Shogun, on one condition... You must fulfill three small wishes on my behalf."
"What are your wishes?" Paimon asked
"They pertain to three whose Visions were taken from them... Perhaps once you've met them, you will understand..."
The Traveler listens while Kamisato Ayaka tells the story of the three Visionless people...
"A warrior who guards a village, a former samurai who helped carry out the Vision Hunt Decree, and a swordmaster determined to become the best in the world... Does Paimon got that right?" Paimon asked
"Correct. Please do all you can to help them. I will await your return here." Ayaka said
"We will do as you wish." Boboiboy nodded
"This is a tall order..." Lumine said
"Hehe... Then, you have my gratitude." Ayaka laughed a little
"I'm sure you'll do great." Thoma smiled as the group left to help three persons
At the first location, Konda Village, the group finds an old couple, Mahiru and Kenjirou trying to persuade a younger man Tejima not to leave. Inquiring the man, Tejima was a samurai who become Visionless. With his Vision gone, he has had trouble remembering why he stayed at the village for so long and is intending to leave and become a wandering samurai. The pair offer to help refresh his memory, which he accepts. They find a paper that explains why he stayed at the village; to wait for his lover, but she never came. After the events, Tejima then chooses to remain in the village to wait for her, although wondering if she would ever come.
The next person is a samurai from the Tenryou Commission who had their Vision confiscated, found in Inazuma City. As Paimon wonders why the Shogunate would take action against one of their own, they hear a commotion breaking out. Two men are accusing a samurai, Kurosawa Kyounosuke, of withholding emergency rations from them. He had originally given it to them on request, but now is withholding them for no reason.
Speaking to the Samurai, he tells them that despite enforcing the Vision Hunt Decree, he was told that he had been "slacking off" to the point that he even disappointed the Raiden Shogun, causing him to lose his Vision. He had forgotten what he had done every month, and is not even aware of the rations themselves. Just recently, he was pursuing some Treasure Hoarders when the men had stopped him and asks the Traveler to track them down, believing they would have stolen the rations.
They find the Treasure Hoarders nearby, who are commenting over their recent plunders. After beating them up, Tadao tries to recruit them, but Lumine refuses and inquires about Kurosawa. Tadao states that Kurosawa's house had nothing apart from a box, which he offers in return for his and his men's freedom. Opening the box, they are surprised to find that it only contains IOUs, all addressed to a Miss Aoi of Tsukumomono Groceries, and the Hoarder gang leaves.
Heading to Aoi, she tells them that Kurosawa always bought foodstuffs regularly from her store to give to the people, even taking on debt to ensure their well-being. She also recalls that he had a prized sword which she would accept as payment for his debts. Returning to Kurosawa once more, he learns the truth and explains the history of his sword to them. He also threatened the rioting men with his sword, even though he felt himself unable to go through with the act, and is troubled that he cannot be good or bad, wondering what to do.
With the second person dealt with, they head to the final client, a swordmaster known for the Meikyou Shisui Art who is also in the city. Outside the dojo, they find two disciples worried about their sensei's well-being. The group makes a ruse that they had come to learn from their master seeing that the disciples were wary beyond reason. Junya apologizes, stating that with all the trouble recently, he is on high alert. Their sensei, Domon, is believed to be possessed and is recovering, explaining his history and that he took a turn for the worse when his Vision was taken. As such, they have hired shrine maidens from the Grand Narukami Shrine to exorcise the demon possessing him.
While the exorcism is in motion, Paimon spots a suspicious person nearby and the Traveler pursues them. The man is surprised they caught up so fast, believing Domon had improved their skills in the past few years. He reveals himself to be Anzai, the oldest disciple of his sensei in the art until Domon surpassed both him and their master. When he heard Domon had lost his mind, he came back to see if the rumors were true — to his surprise, Domon called out for him. He then tells them to head back to the dojo as he suspects the ritual is about to end.
The exorcism has ended, but the maiden, Inagi Hotomi, had not sensed any demon possessing Domon. However, she is unsure if another form of demon has possessed him, and tells them that Lady Yae has taken notice of the unusual case. She tells them to come to the shrine tomorrow and leaves
-Timeskip brought to by Chibi Dottore kidnaps Chibi Boboiboy and runs away to do an experiment on him. Chibi Lumine enters the killer mode and runs after Chibi Dottore-
The group arrived at Narakumi Shrine
And Domon held his head in pain
"D—D'you think that's Lady Yae...? No wonder Junya was so excited... she has a really striking presence..." The group looked at the shrine maiden named Yae Miko. She slowly walked out and looked at the group then looked at Domon
Yae Miko's hair is tied at the bottom.
Yae Miko wears a unique and stylized variation of clothing inspired by the colors of a shrine priestess' traditional outfit. She wears a golden head accessory accompanied by matching golden earrings. The right earring contains an Electro Inazuman Vision wrapped in a complex drop-shaped piece and decorated by a small fan-shaped accessory at the bottom. The earrings are attached to her ears by diamond-shaped studs.
"Also, is it just Paimon, or did she look right at us just now? ...Eh, it was probably nothing... It's not like she's ever seen us before."
"Keep away... Keep away from me..." Domon begged "I gave up the art of the sword... Please, let me go, I beg you..."
"As you can see, Lady Yae. Domon has persisted in this state for some time now. He appears to see those who have lost to him in duels past, gathered all around him to persecute him." Hotomi said
"Lady Yae, it must be a possession... right? This is nothing like him at all. In the past, no matter what came his way, he would always face it with a confident smile." Nanako said in a worried tone
Yae Miko stayed silent for awhile before replying "I am sorry. It is clear to me that your sensei is not possessed by any evil spirit."
"But... Then, d—does that mean he..." Nanako looked shocked
"Hmm, yes. This is a change in the person himself. Unable to cope with the tremendous pressure he was under, he suffered a spiritual collapse. With his wits impaired, he finally descended into madness.
As one who is thrown into the sea, though he fights back desperately against his predicament, it does nothing to prevent his descent into the depths. As for what has triggered this change, I believe it must be the loss of his Vision. For to be stripped of one's Vision is to be stripped of one's ambition." Yae Miko explained
"Stripped of his ambition...? But, Lady Yae, even without his ambition, why should he suffer such a dramatic change? How does that explain his descent into madness?" Junya asked
"Your school practices Meikyou Shisui Art, does it not? "Stillness of mind, freedom from all agitation"... What a fine notion that would be, if any in this world could ever hope to achieve it...
There was once one who claimed to be indifferent to rank and reward, and who fled enraged when defeated by his junior. And then there was an aged swordmaster who was aggrieved enough that he crossed blades with a disciple he himself had taught. Then, what of the one who crossed blades with his own sensei and beloved fellow disciple, and defeated them both? Can one truly remain unagitated, of still mind, in moments such as these?"
"Lady Yae... I'm not sure I understand..." Nanako confused
"The path of the swordmaster is filled with twists and turns. It is no small undertaking to pursue the position of greatest swordmaster in the world. It requires one to take their sword firmly in both hands and cut down the hopes and dreams of others... even those of one's closest companions.
Only a deep commitment to his ambition to become the best made it possible for him to rise above the pain of these encounters — to focus on the way ahead. When that ambition disappeared, he began to doubt himself. As he battled his growing anxiety... he slowly descended into the state you see him in now.
Heh... Much like a certain fatally flawed friend of mine." Yae Miko told them
"Poor Sensei... To think he's been suffering so greatly..." Nanako looked sad
"I'm sorry... It's all my fault... Father, Sensei... Anzai..." Domon muttered
"That's enough!" Anzai screamed as he ran out of his hiding place
"Huh? Isn't that Anzai? Where'd he come from? Did he follow us the whole way here?" Paimon said
Domon gasped in shock
"Anzai... Why are there two of you...? Is that you, or a ghost? You're here for revenge, aren't you... I knew it would come... I never should have—"
"You're right to assume that my feelings towards you are far from kindly. *sigh* But I didn't come here to settle a score. It's been so long now that I made peace with it years ago. You did nothing wrong that day, I just... I couldn't face the humiliation. That's why I ran.
I don't think most of the people you beat along the way would hold it against you. On the contrary, when you cut our ambitions short, we entrusted them to you, in the hope that they might carry you further.
Now, I know that we can't place our hopes in you any longer, since you've been stripped of your ambitions, too...But that is no reason to strip them of theirs! "Follow the way of the sword all the way to the highest peak."You taught them that, didn't you?" Anzai said
"But, what if one day... the same thing happens to them...I put everything I had into trying to become the best... but what if it was all a huge mistake, right from the start?
If there's a chance they'll end up like me one day, I'd rather they stay where they are now than go any further down this path..." Domon said
"...Have you asked them what they think?" Anzai motioned to his students
"Sensei... After you rescued me from the hands of the pirates, I told myself I would follow in your footsteps for the rest of my days. I can't know whether I will suffer in my future as you do now. All I know is that here and now, in the present, I wish to continue.
I want to keep going until the day that I can stand before everyone with my head held high and announce that I, like my sensei Domon before me, am a master of Meikyou Shisui Art!" Nanako told him
"Nanako's far from the only one... Actually, all of us think that way." Junya added
"Goodness... Well, I..."
"You see? You can place the ambition you once had in their hands. Being stripped of your ambition is something that's never happened to me, so I can't claim to understand it. But I do know what it feels like to have your ambitions crushed... that's what happened on the day that you so effortlessly defeated me.
So, just as I once placed my ambitions onto you, it is time for you to release yours into their custody. You are not in the same position that I was. When I left, I had nothing to my name, but you have a great number of worthy disciples." Anzai told him
"I... I understand. I am sorry to have made you worry for me and for the state of Meikyou Shisui Art. I no longer have the resolve to become the best in the world... the emptiness and suffering inside of me will not abate, so I cannot hope to still my mind and be free of agitation. But as your sensei, I shall commit to imparting unto you everything I have learned in my life so far. This is my promise, and I humbly ask Anzai, my senior, to hold me to my word."
"You can count on that. I'd be checking in on you occasionally anyway, just to make sure you hadn't lost your mind again... But I am now used to the life of a wanderer. I do not belong in the dojo anymore. So I will simply stop by once in a while to make sure you aren't cutting any corners with them. Well, don't just stand there staring at me. Say thank you to Lady Yae and then get yourself back home."
The Meikyou Shisui Art disciples thanked the head shrine maiden, turned, and left
"So, even though his ambition was taken away, his disciples can take it over on his behalf. Guess that sorta solves this one, huh?"
"Yes, it seems as good of a resolution as we can hope for." Lumine said as they prepared to leave but was interrupted by Hotomi
"Travelers, a moment, please. Lady Yae has some words for you." Hotomi said as Yae Miko spoke up
"...So, my intuition was correct." Yae Miko said while observing them
"The wind that blows from afar carries fresh life to these shores... For us to meet now is premature. Nevertheless, you set foot on these islands at precisely the right moment." Yae Miko walked up to the tree
"Hmm... I have high hopes for you, child. Don't disappoint me." Yae Miko said and then looked at Boboiboy. In her view, she saw the many auras surrounding him and felt familiar to her
So Yae Miko left
"Ooh, Lady Yae seems to have taken a real interest in you two. She seems super mysterious... Paimon's so curious what she really meant by all of that... Hmm, we can come back to it another time. For now, we should go report back to Miss Kamisato." Paimon said
-Timeskip brought to you by All Genshin impact characters watch Boboiboy the Movie 2-
As the group returned to the Kamisato residence
"Oh, Ayaka! Guess who fulfilled all your wishes~!" Paimon called out but received silence "...Ayaka?"
"Uhh? Is everyone here?" Boboiboy called out too
The group decides to look around but Thoma pauses them for a moment before looking at the empty place in front of them. A little bit later, Ayaka appears with elegance before them which surprises the group
She bows down to them
Ayaka's hair is tied in a high ponytail by a black armored headdress accented with gold. The chin-length locks of hair framing her face are tied at ear-level with white accessories bordered with gold and fastened with bright pink cords tied in cloverleaf knots.
Ayaka wears a royal blue pleated knee-length skirt embroidered with an assortment of patterns, bearing gold accents and small white flower print with a pair of white shorts with a lace trim at the base underneath, and black geta sandals with ankle-length white socks decorated by pink cloverleaf knots at the back. She has a black breastplate with a golden Kamisato Clan emblem in the center and matching armor platings on the sides of her skirt. Underneath her breastplate is a loose elbow-length shirt with gradients of blue to white. Her cuffs and collar on her top are navy with a variety of gold stripes. She wears black sleeves underneath the loose shirt, sling over her middle fingers, and covering both of her thumbs. On top of her black sleeves are white armored platings lined by gold metal, tied together by red knots. At the back of her outfit is a large royal blue bow, tied together by her Vision and another bright pink cloverleaf knot. The lower half of the ribbons darken in color with gold markings of the same type seen throughout Inazuma.
She also carries around a gold-navy fan that matches her skirt.
"Lumine, Boboiboy, Paimon... It is a pleasure to finally meet you three face-to-face, hehe." Ayaka smiled "I have heard all about how you helped out three friends. My sincerest thanks to you."
"Oh, it was nothing. At least, we help them out. We don't want them to feel suffer." Boboiboy said
"The damage done by losing a Vision can't be completely undone." Lumine commented
"*sigh* Yeah... short of getting them their Visions back, it seems like there's no way to really help them... Um, Ayaka — how come this time you get to come out and meet us in person?" Paimon asked
"Hehe, because now that you have done the three things I asked of you, I consider you to be my friends. As you will observe, I dispense with the screen for Thoma, also." Ayaka answered
"Mm-hmm." Thoma nodded
"Wait a second, but isn't Thoma your, um... servant? Paimon's happy to help and all, but Paimon sure as heck did not sign up to be a servant!" Paimon disagreed
"Oh...! Ahaha, Paimon you are most entertaining. Thoma is first and foremost my friend, and was so before he ever became my attendant." Ayaka told her
"Oh, okay then... Ayaka, you seem pretty different out in the open compared to how you are behind the screen. Mmm... Alright, we can be friends." Paimon said
"Sure, we gladly accept it." Boboiboy nodded with a smile
"Friend request accepted." Lumine smiled a little
"Hehe, thank you both kindly. Back to the matter at hand. You have now witnessed the pain of those deprived of their Visions... What are your feelings on what you have seen?"
"It seems to be a fate worse than death." Lumine confessed
"I... don't know what to say about this. Losing a Vision is something that made me feel unease." Boboiboy answered
"*sigh* ...Perhaps, in the eyes of a deity such as the Almighty Shogun, the lives of those who inhabit the world are inconsequential...
Thunder's roar, lightning's flash, the wind's assault, and the rain's descent... all these things take place with no regard for the feelings of the common people. But I believe that surely you understand what they must endure." Ayaka told them
Lumine:...
"It seems that perhaps now, you can appreciate my feelings on all of this. In which case... perhaps you would be willing to reconsider your stance?" Ayaka asked them
"I will help you fight the Vision Hunt Decree." Lumine accepted
"You will? Really!?" Ayaka asked in hope
"Of course. We will help you." Boboiboy nodded
"But you must keep the promise you made me." Lumine reminded
"Naturally, hehe." Ayaka giggled
"Alright, bravo, milady. You were right all along." Thoma applauded
"See... I told you she wouldn't reject them. I'd placed my trust in the right person after all." Ayaka told Thoma and then turned to the group
"Now then, given that the remainder of our discussion pertains to matters of a more... confidential nature... perhaps we could move to the Komore Teahouse? We ought not to involve other members of the Yashiro Commission."
-Timeskip brought to you by Chibi Boboiboy Thorn helps Chibi Yoimiya with fireworks-
Kamisato Ayaka and Thoma take them once again to Komore Teahouse...
"Well, here we are again..." Paimon sighed
"Please, continue without me. I'll keep watch." Thoma said and left
"So, what's the deal with this place, anyway? What makes it your favorite meeting spot?" Paimon asked
"This is land that was gifted to the Yashiro Commission by the shogun. The Kamisato Clan has the exclusive right to plan, build, and repair any property on this land — and even to allow or deny access.
Such privileges exist due to the Yashiro Commission's role in managing ceremonial affairs. Oftentimes, it is not appropriate to discuss details in front of bystanders." Ayaka told them
"Ohh Paimon gets it — gotta keep a bit of mystery, right?" Paimon asked
"Once the number of ceremonial affairs conducted in the city began to decline, our forebears built a teahouse here. Only members of the Yashiro Commission are permitted to come and go as they please." Ayaka added
"Makes sense. Perfect place for a secret base!" Paimon said
"In any case, we can talk freely here. I presume Lumine, you have a few questions that you wish to ask me?" Ayaka said
Lumine: What kind of god is the Raiden Shogun?
Kamisato Ayaka: The Almighty Shogun... I have seen her on but only a few occasions, most of them formal ceremonies...
Kamisato Ayaka: She inspires awe, commands respect, and exudes a sense of absolute authority. But as I recall, there was something else about her that struck me even more deeply...
Kamisato Ayaka: It was her almost complete lack of any emotion. In that sense, she appeared to me to be less of a ruler and more of... well, an executive official, I suppose. Focused exclusively on her single goal of implementing Eternity, acting accordingly without feeling.
Lumine: Is no one else fighting the Vision Hunt Decree?
Kamisato Ayaka: The issue is this... For the vast majority of people, the Vision Hunt Decree is something that has no implications whatsoever.
Kamisato Ayaka: After all, it is but a tiny minority of people who receive Visions. Moreover, it is not unknown for Visions to spark jealousy in others.
Kamisato Ayaka: Because of this, the attitude of most people towards the Vision Hunt Decree is one of indifference.
Paimon: How can they be like that...? Hmph, Paimon's getting mad...
Kamisato Ayaka: Nevertheless, in addition to us, there is also the resistance on Watatsumi Island.
Paimon: Resistance? You mean, like, an army fighting against the decree?
Kamisato Ayaka: Yes, many who have lost or fear losing their Visions have rallied together under Sangonomiya on Watatsumi Island to form a resistance group.
Kamisato Ayaka: To say a little more about Sangonomiya... Historically, there has always been some conflict between them and the Shogunate of Narukami Island due to their different belief systems.
Kamisato Ayaka: But I do wonder whether there may be some other agenda behind their resistance movement, beyond merely fighting the Vision Hunt Decree...
Lumine: Have you raised a formal objection to the Vision Hunt Decree?
Kamisato Ayaka: Of course. We have tried on numerous occasions. Unfortunately, each time a proposal to repeal the decree arrives at Tenshukaku, it is promptly vetoed by both the Tenryou Commission and the Kanjou Commission, and subsequently scrapped...
Kamisato Ayaka: They invariably adopt a stance of unconditional support for the shogun's decisions. They have no interest in discussing anything.
Kamisato Ayaka: It almost makes one wonder whether they had a hand in the shogun's sudden decision to issue the Vision Hunt Decree..."Ooh, ooh, Paimon has a question though!"
"I have no further questions." Lumine said but
"Ooh, ooh, Paimon has a question though!" Paimon said
"Oh? What would you like to know, Paimon?" Ayaka said
"Have you got a plan yet? To fight the Vision Hunt Decree?" Paimon asked in curious
"To be honest... we do not." Ayaka shook her head
"Wh—What!" Paimon exclaimed
"Please, do not forget that challenging the Vision Hunt Decree is tantamount to challenging a deity. Coming to terms with that is already a difficult step to take." Ayaka told them
"So... So, what're we gonna do?" Paimon asked
"Well, for the moment, all we can do is to try and reduce the harm that is being caused by this decree. For example, by providing Vision bearers with safe refuge, or manufacturing counterfeit Visions for them as a contingency measure." Ayaka said which made the group surprise
"You're telling Paimon that there are people out there who can make fake Visions!?" Paimon asked in shock
"Don't underestimate the talents of the craftspeople in Hanamizaka. To the naked eye, their counterfeits are indistinguishable from the genuine article." Ayaka said
"Must have been where Venti went..." Lumine said jokingly
"The problem we are facing right now is that Master Masakatsu, who was providing us with counterfeit Visions, has recently been arrested by the Tenryou Commission." Ayaka added
"Oh darn! So they found out about it? Ugh..." Paimon felt unease
"Yes... We knew it was not a long-term solution and that it was only a matter of time before it would be exposed... But we cannot simply abandon Master Masakatsu."
"He has saved many others. It is only right that he should be saved, too." Lumine said
"Exactly, I feel the same way. But given mine and Thoma's identities as part of the Yashiro Commission, breaking him out of prison would risk dragging down the reputation of the entire Kamisato Clan should we be caught. That would only serve to cast suspicion on any future activity we might seek to attempt." Ayaka explained
"So you're offloading that job to us, huh?" Lumine said
"Hehe, by no means do we intend to place the burden of such a task on your shoulders alone.
When you are ready, go to Hanamizaka, and look for a fireworks shop run by the Naganohara family. There, you will find someone who can help you." Ayaka told them as they left for Naganohara Fireworks
-Timeskip brought to you by Chibi Quake helps Chibi Noelle out-
The group went to Naganohara Fireworks until they saw the scene
"Just hand it over, you don't want any trouble with me. If you think your elemental powers are enough to resist the Vision Hunt Decree, then you'd better think again. Believe me, you're not the first of your kind we've encountered... And we've seen the same unpleasant outcome time after time. You'd best save yourself the trouble." the soldier threatened the man
"Can't you make an exception? I just got this Vision — I won't even use it, I promise." Hanshirou tried bargaining
"So this is the Vision Hunt Decree in action, huh? We can't just sit around and watch things unfold, can we?" Paimon told the two
"Let's move!" Lumine agreed as they walked forward but only to be interrupted by someone
"Psst...! Hey — wait...!"
"Huh? There's someone trying to get our attention." Paimon pointed from behind as the group looked behind and saw the girl
"Come on...! This way...!"
The girl took them to her hiding spot
Her name is Yoimiya
Yoimiya's hair is tied into a high ponytail that messily sticks out in all angles. She wears many festival themed hair accessories.
Yoimiya's attire mainly consists of a short orange-red kimono with only one sleeve worn. Her right sleeve is rolled up past her elbow and tied with a string. The left half of the kimono is draped around her waist. Her chest is wrapped up in sarashi, as are her left forearm and upper thighs, extending down to her right leg. A festival pouch hangs from her waist on the left, and her Vision is secured to her obi on her right."Huh, what's going on!? Can't you see we need to go help..." Paimon said
"Shh! Quiet! Just sit tight and watch for a moment..."
Paimon scolded the person "Hey! This isn't right, y'know! Just because you don't have a Vision doesn't mean you can sit back and watch others in trouble... Huh? Hey wait... you do have a Vision!"
Boboiboy held Paimon's mouth to keep quiet
"Shh! If you don't keep your voice down, I won't have one much longer!"
"Alright, alright... Here... take it." Hanshirou sighed and gave his Vision to the guards
"Hm, wise choice. Alright, let's go!" the soldier was pleased and quickly left
"What should we do now? He's already given up his Vision... Doesn't he know what could happen to him after losing it? Ugh, this is your fault. You're the one who stopped us from interfering!" Paimon said angrily
"Phew! Many thanks, Miss Yoimiya. If you hadn't swapped me a fake just now, I'm sure I would have lost it." Hanshirou thanked her
"No worries! You put on quite the convincing performance!" the girl named Yoimiya
"So the Vision they took was fake?" Boboiboy asked
"Seems we were fooled, too..." Lumine said
"Ohh, so that's what's going on here! And to think Paimon was about to unleash Paimonial wrath on Miss Yoimiya... hehehe... sorry about that." Paimon apologized
"Haha, ahh think nothing of it! I could tell from your reaction we were on the same side — you just didn't know it, y'know?
Alright — allow me to introduce myself. I'm Yoimiya, the current owner of Naganohara Fireworks. It ain't much, but it's honest work, hehe. Great to meet ya!" Yoimiya introduced
"Practically everyone in Hanamizaka knows Yoimiya. She's the "Queen of the Summer Festival"! Without her and her fireworks, summer on Narukami Island just wouldn't be same." Hanshirou added
"Whoa, that's quite the introduction! Paimon loves fireworks! It's nice to meet you."
"Hee-hee, stop it Hanshirou, you'll embarrass me! As for thanking me, you'd be better off thanking Master Masakatsu. He's the one that gave me the fake Visions in the first place.
His handiwork allowed me to keep my own Vision. Whew, I can't even imagine trying to run business without it..." Yoimiya said
"Yes, Master Masakatsu is a good man. It's too bad good people seldom get the recognition they deserve." Hanshirou replied with sad look
"Master Masakatsu!?" Paimon exclaimed
"Huh? Do you guys know him too?" Yoimiya asked the group
"Miss Kamisato mentioned his name." Lumine said
"You don't say! Then it sounds like the Shirasagi Himegimi has a plan... Awesome! I've been thinking about breaking him out too recently.
But if I just marched straight in there by myself, I'd probably get Miss Kamisato in a whole heap of trouble, hehe... So... what about if I join you instead!?" Yoimiya asked
"Sure! Welcome to the team! Ayaka told us to go look for help at a fireworks shop. She must have meant you!" Paimon nodded
"Hee-hee, seems like I've finally got a new job to do! ...Y'know, besides hiding Vision bearers in my shop, that is...
So, Master Masakatsu is being held at the Police Station. I've already surveyed the area and found a way in." Yoimiya told the group
"Whoa, talk about a reliable source. Seems we've got the right person on our team!" Paimon felt confident
"Not bad, huh? Hehe. Let's go as soon as everyone's ready. Don't worry Master Masakatsu, we're on our way!"
"Time to break him out!"
-Timeskip brought to you by Chibi Boboiboy Water and Chibi Furina look at the hole. Chibi Boboiboy Water doesn't seem concern about the hole and Chibi Furina feels fear about the hole-
They are at Police Station
"Uh... Now that we're inside, this place is a whole lot creepier than Paimon imagined... Eh-he..."
"C'mon, this way! As long as we stay quiet, we've got a good chance! I certainly wouldn't want to end up locked away in here... Let's find Master Masakatsu and get out of here. We should split up. I've got a "little present" to prepare for Master Masakatsu, hehe... I'll be right back."
"You sure? Alright then... Just be careful not to get caught!" Paimon reminded her
"Yes, uh — you too!" Yoimiya said as the group split up
They are roaming around the place to find Masakatsu
-A few minutes later-
The group went downstairs and saw two guards with someone unconscious on the ground
"Shh... quick, hide! Look over there..." Paimon pointed "That must be Master Masakatsu!"
"...Did you really think that little trick of yours could fool us?" Guard 1 said
"Hehe... locking you up was just the beginning." Guard 2 said
Masakatsu spoke up as he held his injuries "...Argh... No...!"
"Oh no... Those Tenryou Commission brutes are torturing him." Yoimiya showed up out of nowhere
"If we don't come up with a way to break him out fast, then... Eh!? Yoimiya, when did you get back here..." Paimon asked in confusion
"We need to ensure we have a means of escape." Lumine said
"Ugh... I can't bear to watch. If anything happens to Master Masakatsu, our whole plan will have been for nothing..." Yoimiya wanted to get in but someone arrived
"Hey, you there! What are you doing!?" an unknown person interrupted
Her name is Kujiou Sara
Sara's attire is primarily black and white, with adornments in mauve, red, and gold. The Kujou Clan crest adorns various parts of her outfit. Her Electro Vision can be seen on a yellow bow attached to her belt, from which hangs a decorative black and white yuigesa (pompom sash). She also wears red and gold tengu-geta sandals.
"Ah! M—Ma'am!" Guard 1 was surprised
" W—We were just teaching him a little lesson... That's all." Guard 2 lied but she didn't buy it
"Huh? Who's that?" Paimon asked
"That's Kujou Sara, adopted daughter of the Kujou Clan of the Tenryou Commission. She's also a general in the Shogun's Army. What's she doing here...?" Yoimiya replied
"Kujiou Sara? I think Kazuha mentioned her before..." Boboiboy said
"She's also enforcing the Vision Hunt Decree." Lumine said.
"Make way, let me have a look at him." Sara said as she examined Masakatsu and saw all the injuries "..."
As she stands up and gets angry "I'm sure you're well aware that torture is strictly against military regulations."
"Y—Yes, ma'am." Guard 1 said nervously
"If you are unashamed of such disgraceful action, then you are also unworthy of the Tenryou Commission itself! Do I make myself clear!?"
"Y—Yes, ma'am. I—It won't happen again!" Guard 2 let out sweat a lot
"Whew, Paimon sure wouldn't want to get on her bad side..." Paimon said
"Hey, this is our chance! Let's move while they aren't watching Master Masakatsu." Yoimiya told them
"Yoimiya! Are you sure now's the right time!?" Paimon asked in worry
Yoimiya didn't answer, having made a sound after stepping on a loose plank "Ah..."
Sara was immediately on alert "Who is that...Quick, go and investigate."
"Yes, ma'am!" the guards yelled as they both ran.
"The—They're coming! Quick — hide!" Paimon told them
"Sorry sorry sorry! I didn't mean to..." Yoimiya was flustered
"They'll find us for sure if we don't do something." Lumine calmly said although she was tense
"Don't worry, I've got us covered. Time for my "little present..."" Yoimiya said as her vision glowed
Suddenly, the fireworks exploded
"Wha—! Fireworks!?" Paimon gasped
"Huh? Was that an explosion!?" Guard 1 was surprised
"I—It sounded like... fireworks?" Guard 2 was confused
"Quick, let's hurry!" Guard 1 said as the two left
"Whew, the fireworks were enough to distract them! Maybe more than enough, hehe..." Paimon laughed nervously
"Hehe, fireworks aren't just for festivals y'know." Yoimiya said confidently
"Nice work! That's awesome!" Boboiboy gave her a thumb-up
"We knew we could count on you!" Lumine praised
"Hee-hee, I was particularly proud of this batch, I decided to—" she was interrupted by more explosions and the guards' screams
"Eh-he... Uh, Yoimiya... this is turning into a bit of a fireworks display, hehe..." Paimon said sarcastically
"Well... fireworks are my craft after all. Every batch has to be spectacular! Hee-hee..." Yoimiya blushed in embarrassment
"Hehehe." Boboiboy sweat-dropped
Lumine shrugged "Well, those guards deserved what they got..."
"Look, the coast is clear. Now's our chance!" with that, they all ran to rescue master Masakatsu." Paimon said as the group went up to him
"Y—Yoimiya? Is that you?" he asked
"Master Masakatsu! Sorry we took so long... Ugh... those awful guards!" Yoimiya looked at his injuries
"C'mon, we've got no time to lose! They could be back any minute..." The group helped him up and they met someone
"Oh..." Paimon said simply
"You were over there watching us this whole time, weren't you?" Lumine said while looking at Sara who was silently looking at them.
"Yes. Leave, before I let my judgment get the better of me." Sara ordered "He's in serious condition, be sure he gets immediate medical attention. But remember... Once he's recovered, it won't be long until I bring him right back."
"Uh, well... Ahem, you can bet we'll do all we can to keep that from happening." Yoimiya said
"Thank you, Miss Sara." Boboiboy said
"We will protect Master Masakatsu." Lumine said
"Hm... leave this place." Sara ordered
The group nodded and left
-Timeskip brought to you by Albedo, Albedo(Overlord), and Albedo(Ben 10) point at each other while Zoro comes out of nowhere and feels confused-
"Phew! We're finally outta that creepy place." Paimon felt relief
"Yes... Finally, I've made it out of there..." Masakatsu relaxed a little
"Master Masakatsu — how do you feel? Can you hold on?" Yoimiya asked in worry
"Don't worry, I think I can make it to the infirmary without keeling over." Masakatsu calmed her down
"Thank you, all of you! I'll take him to get treated. I'll treat you to a round of drinks once this is all over!" Yoimiya thanked them
"Don't worry about us, just take care of Master Masakatsu!" Paimon said and the two nodded
So Yoimiya escorted Masakatsu to the infirmary. Now, the group is discussing
"Whew, good thing we were able to rescue him." Paimon felt relief
"All thanks to her." Boboiboy said
"Right, Kujou Sara... Do you think she was making up for how the guards were treating him? It seems as though there are some okay people among the ranks of the Tenryou Commission... Oh! Though Paimon would never agree with their actions in the Vision Hunt Decree, of course."
"How about we go tell Ayaka and the others the good news?" Paimon said as the group went back to Komore Teahouse.
-Timeskip to Komore Teahouse and brought to you by Chibi Boboiboy Cyclone and Chibi Amber flying with hoverboard-
"I see, so Kujou Sara stayed her hand. It would appear she still has some honor to her. I wonder if we should try establishing contact with her... Perhaps we could coax out some information." Thoma suggested
"Unlikely. Don't forget, Kujou Sara is also carrying out the Vision Hunt Decree. She obeys the orders of the Raiden Shogun without question.
In her eyes, Master Masakatsu is of no threat to the decree. This is why she was so willing to allow his escape. If our true motives were ever divulged, she would act against us without a second thought." Ayaka told him
"True... Though if you ask me, Master Masakatsu's release is an unexpected blessing. We are now one step closer to victory... and we couldn't have done it without Yoimiya, Lumine, and Boboiboy! Hehe, you're turning out to be even more reliable than we expected."
"It's no big deal. At least, we can help." Boboiboy scratched his cheek lightly
"Thanks for the compliment." Lumine said
"Hee-hee, don't mention it." Paimon laughed
"Indeed, things may have turned out very differently this time without the help of them. But if we wish to mount any sizable resistance against the Vision Hunt Decree... there is still much to be done. It is time we make ready our next set of plans..." Ayaka held her chin to think
"There's no need to rush, milady. Things seem to have taken a turn for the better, at least. Not only have we rescued Master Masakatsu, but our list of allies appears to be growing.
Ah yes, which reminds me... The Tenryou Commission seems to be making preparations for a "celebration"... They call it a "ceremony" of sorts. And the number of samurai out enforcing the Vision Hunt Decree seems to be waning. The days ahead may be more peaceful than usual." Thoma said
"A "ceremony," you say? Why would such a task be left to the Tenryou Commission?" Ayaka asked
"I don't know, but I'm sure it has nothing to do with us. Anyway, with the Tenryou Commission busy with preparations, we should have a little more breathing room than usual." Thoma said
"Hmm, you do present a good point. Being in a constant state of alert will only tire us further, perhaps a period of rest is in order. Thoma, what would you suggest?" Ayaka asked
"I'd say a celebratory feast is in order. Might I suggest an evening of hot pot together! Funny enough, I learned a new recently. I'm sure you'll find it quite amusing!" Thoma said
"A hot pot game? What's that? Well, as long as it has to do with eating..." Paimon shrugged
"Simply put, every person prepares an ingredient to add to the hot pot. Once the meal begins, we add all the ingredients together.
Then we take it in turns to close our eyes, pick an ingredient out of the pot, taste it, and guess whose ingredient it was.
Anyone who guesses correctly can go again, and whoever finishes the meal with the most points is declared the winner. Tradition even has it that the winner receives blessings from the God of Hot Pot.
Don't you think it sounds like fun? Hehe, I've been wanting to give it a try... In fact, I've already got my ingredients prepared!" Thoma said
'That sounds like Japan. Wait, does that mean Teyvat is based on planet Earth? Come to think of it. Liyue is almost like China.' Boboiboy(Light) has many thought
"You really do wanna play, huh! Well, sounds like we've got our work cut out for us! Time to gather some ingredients. But... what should we choose?" Paimon asked
"Let's stick to the classics..." Lumine suggested as she pulled some ingredients from her inventory
"Let's see what we've got here. Hmm, fresh fish fillets, shrimp, bamboo shoots...Nice! You can't go wrong with these. Paimon can't wait!"
Everyone enjoys a normal and harmless round of hot pot...
"Paimon never thought we'd be the only ones to actually put anything edible into the pot... Don't go wasting the rest now! *sigh* This was possibly the scariest-looking hot pot Paimon's ever seen... Fortunately, Thoma ended up eating all the weird stuff." Paimon said as the group except Ayaka looked at him with deadpanned
"You can say that again... But hey, at least I got the most points... Ugh, wait a moment... that doesn't feel good..." Thoma doesn't felt so good
"I'm afraid it's your own fault for adding all those strange ingredients Thoma. The soup flavor wasn't quite the same afterwards... Even with Lumine's normal ingredients, I still couldn't guess any of them correctly." Ayaka was confused
"But weren't you the one who added those little cakes Ayaka? Hehe, I think Lumine ended up eating one. Boiling cakes in hot pot... bleurgh... think of the texture..." Paimon felt disgusted
"I must apologize... To be perfectly honest, I thought the cakes would be a tasty addition." Ayaka apologized
"Hehehe. It's alright." Boboiboy sweat-dropped
"Uh oh, I'm definitely not okay... Ugh, I need to lie down." Thoma lied down
-A few minutes later-
The group finished eating
"Whew... I feel like a new man." Thoma felt better
"Uh, you know, Thoma... all you had to do was guess wrong on purpose and it would've been someone else's turn. Talk about being competitive..." Paimon said as Lumine and Boboiboy looked at her deadpanned
"Haha, guess I've been feeling unlucky recently and wanted the God of Hot Pot's blessing. Perhaps I did get a little carried away... Still, I couldn't be beaten at my own game first time around!
I think my luck has already taken a turn for the better — I can sense it! So without further ado, I hereby declare that the winner of today's hot pot challenge is... me!" Thoma said confidently
Paimon sighed "Oh brother..."
"Hehehe. That's awesome." Boboiboy gave him a thumb-up
"Ahh... good effort team, another important job taken care of. Next on the agenda: some well-earned rest and relaxation." Thoma said
"Yes, if the Tenryou Commission truly is as busy with preparations as Thoma claims, then some rest would be a welcome change of pace. And with the extra time, there are some other matters I wish to attend to..." Ayaka told them
"Let's all take some much-needed time off. After a few days' rest, we'll reconvene at the Komore Teahouse and discuss our next operation.
Downtime is hard to come by these days, so be sure to make the most of it! I'll tidy things up here and start thinking about our ingredients for our next round, hehe." Thoma laughed lightly
Paimon looked shocked "There's gonna be a sequel!?"
"Sure, why not! We should play again now that everyone knows the rules. I'll see you all later!"
"Bye, Thoma!" The group waved goodbye and left
"Hmm, seems we won't need to be visiting the Komore Teahouse for a while. Why don't we go explore some other places!"
The group walked outside of Komore Teahouse
Paimon: Hmm, where do we go from here...? What's the plan?
Kamisato Ayaka: Lumine, Boboiboy, Paimon. Hold on.
Paimon: Huh? Ayaka?
Lumine: What's the matter?
Boboiboy: Is something wrong?
Kamisato Ayaka: Something has come up, and I would like to request your assistance.
Kamisato Ayaka: But you ought not be nervous. This is not coming from the Yashiro Commission or the Kamisato Clan. It is my own individual request.
Paimon: Individual request? You mean... personal stuff?
Kamisato Ayaka: Correct. It concerns my mother.
Kamisato Ayaka: This may seem a little sudden... but in my view, you are the only person I can entrust this to.
Lumine: Can you give us any more details?
Kamisato Ayaka: A few days ago, I was sorting through some old family belongings when I found a notebook that belonged to my mother.
Kamisato Ayaka: She wrote about all kinds of things, mostly of little consequence. But what drew my attention was a name — it is one that I have never heard before, so the fact that she mentions it so frequently... it makes it difficult for me to ignore...
Paimon: Probably your mom's best buddy, right?
Lumine: You'd really never heard the name before? Not once?
Kamisato Ayaka: Never. And although my mother and father passed away many years ago, both my brother and I are familiar with the vast majority of their acquaintances.
Kamisato Ayaka: So... I am very curious about this mysterious individual. I would very much like to meet them.
Kamisato Ayaka: According to the notebook, their name is "Tsubaki." This seems to have been someone very important to my mother. Someone with a lot of personality, who liked to have fun.
Paimon: Hmm... Paimon thinks it sounds like a girl's name.
Kamisato Ayaka: That's what I thought too.
Paimon: So, what do you want us to do?
Paimon: Do you need us to find her for you?
Kamisato Ayaka: No, no, her address is given in the notebook — we can head straight there. I wanted you to assist me with the preparation of greeting gifts...
Kamisato Ayaka: ...Please keep everything I have told you in strict confidence.
Kamisato Ayaka: The proper course of action would be to involve my brother and visit her together, but he is terribly busy at present, and... on a more selfish note, I don't wish to involve anybody else from Inazuma in this matter.
Lumine: Hence why you came to me, an outlander.
Kamisato Ayaka: Exactly. That, and you are also a kind, well-mannered person with a genuine concern for other people... not to mention trustworthy. I would not feel comfortable with anyone else in this situation.
Paimon: You can count on us! We've done greeting gifts before, so we should be able to help. In terms of payment... just treat us to some delicious food, and we'll be more than happy!
Kamisato Ayaka: Wonderful — in fact, I was hoping to take this opportunity to show you both around. If you don't mind, of course?
Paimon: Oh, we don't mind! We don't mind at all! Do we?
Boboiboy: Nope not at all.
Lumine: Not in the slightest.
Kamisato Ayaka: Thank you kindly! Shall we head off, then? Ogura Textiles & Kimonos is our first stop.
Paimon: Alright! Sounds great!
