"What pokemon will I bring with me?" was thought that went through our hero's head.

"What?" Asked the boys mother.

"Well since I'll be heading out soon it is something I need to consider" said with tapping on his nose bridge.

Delia just sighed at her son, he can't stop thinking about his pokemon for a little bit but he's always been like that.

"Ash you can think about that tomorrow lets do something as a family"

He bit his lip "Agh sorry mom your right"

"It ok Now come lets go somewhere fun" she said with smile.

cue bouken desho desho from Haruhi because it's slide show time

First we cut to are hero and his mother at the pallet town carnival where there playing a game at a stall with a red and white topper.

second we go to Ash talking with the locals that he's know all his life.

Then we flash to them going shopping and trying to sap in all the time they can before Ash has to go on his next journey.

The final stop we see them at is a restaurant talking about Ash's next journey.

"So Ash have you decided what pokemon you will bring with you?" the mother asked as she cut apart her steak.

"Yeah I think so" He took a sip of his soda after he replayed.

"Oh, who well other than Pikachu of course"

Ash smiled at this his mother knows him well.

Him and Pikachu were and still are inseparable, where Ash went Pikachu followed and vice versa.

"Well I'm thinking of bringing..."

before he could finish telling his mother the plan a blast was sounded bringing everyone down to there knees and there ears to a ring.

"Damn what was that" cursed a waiter as he got up clenching his ear to try to block out the ringing.

"Look!" screamed a women with her eyes glued to the window "there smoke coming from professor Oak's lab."

Hearing the women's words sent Ash dashing out of the restaurant in the direction of the lab/ranch that he knows all to well fearing the worst.

Delia still in disarray from the blast and watching her son rush out of the build. She decided the best course of action would be to call the police.

As Ash ran towards the lab he heard what seemed to be commands from a familiar voice.

"Blastoise use hydro pump" Called out a voice that sounded around the same age as Ash.

A smirk etched across are raven haired hero when he heard the voice he knew exactly who it was "Yo Gary need any help"

"Huh?" The spiky brown haired boy looked around his surroundings until his eyes meet the face of the face when he did his lips formed a smile "Yeah if you could pitch it Ashy boy that'd be great."

"Ah shit James and Jessie told us about that kid" cursed a man in a black uniform with a big red R on the torso.

"Oh you know me?" He started clapping which weirded out Gary and the rocket members "I'm impressed" with a creepy smirk he whistled a tune about ten seconds later a yellow flash whip by hitting a weezing controlled by the male rocket member.

"WHAT THE HELL" the black clad male shouted.

Ash just laughed before calling out to Pikachu "USE THUNDERBOLT ON THAT WEEZING!"

That single thunderbolt knocked weezing out and on the ground

"WEE weezing" it cried out before going into the embrace of the dream world.

"Shit" he cursed as he retracted weezing back into his pokeball than ran away.

"HEY YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME HERE ALONE" the rocket women yelled at her coworker "asshole I can't win by myself."

Our hero walked up to the team rocket member with a shit eating grin "had enough yet?"

The women hesitated for a second and remembered what happened to her partner and came up with an answer for the in her eyes terrifying boy "Yes I'm done here's the pokemon I stole just let me go" she pleaded on her knees

Ash was confused by her words like of course he was going to let her go "I'm not goin hurt you, I just wanted you to do the right thing" he formed a warm smile as he stretched his arm and hand out.

She was dumbfounded by the trainers actions, he was completely deferent from the person she battle a few minute ago.

This boy was warm and caring while the one she faced off with was cold and ruthless.

She stopped thinking about and ran off to never be seen in this story again.

"Huh? why did she run off?"

The browned haired boy sighed at his childhood friends actions "You never change do you"

He says this but Ash did change. when he entered the battle it's like he was someone else.

"Hey Ashy boy what was that?"

"What was what?"

"You like changed when you started battling" Gary tried to explain as he scratched his pointy hair.

"Did I?" Ash put his hand up to his chin "I don't think I did."

The professor in training was baffled that he didn't notice his own change in attitude.

Before he could press further an old man and his assistant approached the pair.

This old man was the famous pokemon professor Samuel Oak and grandfather to Gary Oak he was getting older you could tell by looking at his face it was full of wrinkles he wore a white lab coat on with a red polo underneath and some khakis jeans.

The assistant was young man with a green shirt, dark red shorts and the same color headband strapped on his head with his greenish blackish hair poking out. this man was Ash former traveling partner and current friend Tracey Sketchit.

"Thanks for repealing the team rocket attack boys" the professor showed his appreciation with a smile.

"Yeah that was cool of you guys" Tracey also show appreciation with his Marill resting in his arms.

Ash smile when he saw the pair "It's the least I can do before I go out again!"

"HUH" Gary blurted out surprised "Didn't you win the Alola league"

"That I did" he grinned but then his expression darkened "But something came up..."

It was Tracey's turn to ask a question "What came up Ash, from the look on your face it doesn't sound good"

Ash sighed not really planning on telling them his plan but oh well he thought "You guys remember May?"

Tracey and Oak nodded but Gary didn't he just stood there like a statue with one thought in his brain "Who was May?"

Who was this girl that seemed to evade his memories but stick in others.

Did he forget Ash mentioning her or did Ash never mention her.

"Oh yeah Gary you never meet her" Ash bluntly stated.

It may have been blunt but it saved Gary the embarrassment of asking, in his opinion he was on cloud nine.

The young man with the headband words broke Gary out of his thoughts "So what about her Ash?"

"Supposedly she's gone missing after winning the Hoenn grand festival"

All were shocked not for just being missing but winning a grand festival.

But that wasn't the problem.

Ash explained the rest of what he knew i.e. what Norman told him.

"And that's why I'm heading out again" he smiled.

"I see" Professor Oak mumbled while nodding his head "Well I wish you good luck."

"Yeah I wish you good luck too Ash" Tracey nodded with a smile.

"Thanks guys" The raven haired trainer thanked with a warm smile... untill her remembered something "AH CRAP MOM!" Was all he yelled of before dashing off.

Gary just watched him as he ran off until he was out of sight.

Then he spoke up "Yo gramps can we talk."

"Oh course Gary come into my lab" The old pokemon researcher smile as he guided his grandson into his lab/home.

Now inside Oak asked what he wanted to talk about.

Gary sat down at a table and said "It's about Ash gramps."

"Hmmm what about him" he questioned as he poured tea into small but elegant cups.

Gary leaned back in his chair to see his grandfather "Well while battling those team rocket members" tea got set in front of Gary "Oh thanks!"

He took a sip before continuing he wasn't much of a tea guy but he'll always drink what his gramps made for him.

"During the battle it's like he turned into someone else, someone more cold, ruthless just not Ash"

"Hmmmm" Oak hummed as he drank his tea "That is very interesting."

As Oak drank more he remembered something Delia told him.

"Delia did tell me that he been kind of depressed lately something about being lost in thought and getting nostalgia from his old journeys"

Gary thought for a little bit but then a idea formed

"Maybe battling brings back those old memories" Gary liked the idea but then he Groaned "But that doesn't explain why he'd get angry, wouldn't he be happy?"

Oak was too stumped he was an expert in pokemon but human emotion was a completely different beast.

But A light bulb went off in his head.

"Gary why don't you go with Ash and study his behavior and you could study pokemon too"

He that about the proposal his grandfather gave him at first it was an automatic NO but the more he thought about it the more it sounded like a good opportunity.

Plus if he does find this May she could be hot.

"Alright I'll do it" Gary announced but then something went off in his head "ONLY BECAUSE IT'S PEAKED MY INTRESSTED NOT BECAUSE I CARE ABOUT ASH OR THIS MAY GIRL" he franticly tried to defend himself.

"Okay"

"He didn't suspect a thing" Gary thought as he triumphantly pump his fist.

Oak finished up his tea and began to speak again "Well Gary if you plan on going with Ash you got to be quick he leaves tomorrow"

"Shit that's right see yea gramps"

The spiking haired trainer rushed out of the lab and to Ash's home.

"Ah where do they get there energy."

"I'm back"

Oak turned around from the tv he was watching "Gary what are you doing here you left like ten minutes ago"

"Well I thought about it and I didn't really know how to approach Ash about going with him sooooo" he sheepishly rubbed the back of his light brown hair.

The old professor just sighed at his grandsons antics "What do you plan on running up to him right before he leave and THEN say your going with him"

"NOOOOOO. But that's a great idea thanks gramps" Gary then rushed up to his room to gather the things he'll need for his journey.

"*sigh that boy*"

The next day around 9:00 with Ash getting ready for his next big adventure

Ash was just stare at himself in the minor.

Right now he had a red vest with a white strip in the middle and a black t shirt underneath and for pants he had dark black cargo pants (reds outfit from fire red but with black pants)

he was deciding on wearing a hat or not.

he'll always enjoy wearing hats but as of recent he's enjoyed letting his hair flow in the wind.

Are raven haired hero decided to not wear a hat but still put one in his yellow back pack just in case.

The only thing that he needed to put on now was his red and black sneakers.

He sat down on his bed to put on his shoes but instead more memories flooded his head. He started thinking about the start of his journey and how excited he was back then.

"Where is that boy anymore?"

"Pika Pika?" Asked his yellow mouse pokemon partner.

"It's nothing Pikachu" Ash reassured his partner with a pat on the head. He then finished tying his shoes "Alright lets get going."

Ash set out Pikachu grabbed onto his shoulder and hung on as they walked.

He said his farewell to his mother which took awhile grabbed the pokemon he planed on bringing and said goodbye to professor Oak and Tracey but not Gary he couldn't find him.

Are hero now stood in front of the exit to pallet town.

But then he heard a voice...

"Mannnnnnn you made me wait" complained a male voice.

"GARY?! What are you doing here"

Gary flicked his hair "Well I'm going with you of course"

"Why"

the lab coat baring trainer sweat dropped "Sound a little happier next time"

"Sorry but seriously why are you coming with me"

"Well since I'm planning on succeeding my dear grandfather I thought doing some pokemon research would be a good idea"

"I see" Ash took a good look at Gary he wore what he had on when they saw each other in sinnoh but with a lab coat on plus he had a hefty backpack "Well you look like your ready to go"

"Hell yeah I am"

"Alright then" Ash pointed in a dramatic way witch Gary in the background sweat dropped at "LETS GO"

And so are hero set off to find there missing friend.
