Chapter Twenty Seven

By Rosa241

Snape POV:

"What exactly is this for?" It's not the first time that the boys asked the question. He has an inquisitive mind and to be honest he's far too intelligent for his own good sometimes. It won't be long before he puts the pieces together himself no doubt.

"Like I've already told you we need to test your blood to determine which virus you've managed to pick up. That way I can treat it properly." From the way his face furrows I can see that he doesn't buy it.

"But I already feel better." Which just proves my theory of course. Clearly whoever's been poisoning the boy hasn't been able to get up here to continue the job. No one on this earth could get past Poppy without her knowledge. She's got keener eyes that anyone and takes her job incredibly serious. Since whoever's doing this hasn't got up here to keep up the job the poison is no doubt working it's way out of his system.

"There. All done." Without another word she heads back into the office and I follow. The door has barely shut before she's handing me the vile and sighing heavily. "I really hope you're wrong Severus."

"But?" Sensing there was more that she needed to say I kept quiet.

"Something tells me that you're not. I've had a feeling since he came in here that there was more to this than a simple case of the flu." It doesn't surprise me that she saw through this. If there is one person in this school that only a fool would mess with it would be Poppy.

Nodding my thanks I step out of the office, not surprised to see Mister Wood already at his best friends side, and head out the door. It will only take a matter of minutes for his blood to show up whether or not he truly has been poisoned but I already know what it will say. Dumbledore wouldn't have called his parents before knowing the results if he didn't truly believe that the boy had in fact been poisoned.

Heading towards Dumbledores office I can feel the weight of the results pressing down on me. If this does in fact prove that he has been poisoned then that means someone at this school has been attempting to kill one of our students. It's bad enough that someone intentionally put the students names into the goblet but to try to kill one of them. There are only a handful of people who could be responsible for this and I know exactly who is currently top of my list. No doubt the tri wizard tournament is a huge honour and both Madame Maxine as well as Karkaroff would do anything to see their own students crowned the winner.

"Ah Severus just in time." Stepping into the office I'm greeted by the worried faces of the boys parents.

Arthur POV:

"Now, not that it isn't nice to see you Albus, but what exactly are we doing here?" I can feel Molly's sharp pinch on my elbow, a clear warning that I need to calm down, but that's not going to happen now. It's not often that we're called into the school when nothing's wrong. Between Fred and George we've had enough letters home to make a book out of but when it comes to being called into the school that can only mean something is wrong. Between Ron and Ginny we've had enough practice these last three years. But something tells me that this is about Percy.

Ever since his name got placed into that god forsaken Goblet a knot of worry has settled in my stomach. He didn't put it in there himself I know that. Which only means of course that someone wanted him in the tournament. But to what end? It's unlikely to be another student, none of them would have the skills to bamboozle an object of that kind of power, which leaves only one option. Whoever did this must be a talented witch or wizard, one of the teachers. I find it hard to believe that someone would want to harm Percy.

"Yes well I'm sure you were aware that Percy has been in the hospital wing." Of course we were aware. Knowing we'd find out one way or the other our son had sent us a letter the first night. He's always been susceptible to the flu ever since he was a baby, truthfully it had surprised me that with the cold weather setting in and the stress of the tournament he hadn't fallen ill sooner.

"The flu yes we know." By now I can see the worry Molly had been trying to keep buried shining on her face. Despite the words of comfort she had been trying to issue towards me after receiving the letter I could tell she was just as concerned. She's not fooled.

"Well I'm afraid that there may well be another reason behind the illness. A more sinister reason." Just like that any pretence of being anything other than worried parents slips away.

"More sinister? What on earth are you talking about Albus?" The shock at his words is beginning to slip away and I can't help the anger slipping into my words. "What on earth is going on with my son?"

"We are currently waiting on the results of a test which will inform us of exactly what is going on with young Percy." Oh dear, exactly the wrong thing to say in front of my wife.

"TESTS! What kind of tests? What on earth are you doing to my boy? You better answer me right now!" Now Albus Dumbledore may well be one of the most powerful wizards that ever walked the earth but when faced with the anger and worry of my wife he currently resembled a naughty boy. Whatever response he'd been bringing up was lost however as another figure entered the office.

"Ah Severus." The relief in his eyes at having our attention leave him for a moment was genuine. Straightening up he clears his throat before continuing. "Now a simple test on your sons blood will reveal exactly what it is that's going on and we will have our answer."

"But what are you testing for!?" Our words are lost on him as he eyes are trained over towards where Severus is mixing some sort of powder in a vile of what I can only assume is Percy's blood. The thought of my sons blood being anywhere other than safely inside his body has me tightening my fists.

For a few moments there is no sound in the room save for mine and my wifes heavy breathing. I swear I can hear my heart pounding so hard in my chest that for a moment I feel like it might actually jump right out of my body. The way that Albus' face falls as the vile in the potions masters hand slowly fades from blood red to black has me frozen on the spot.

"And what does that mean?" My wife's words come out barely above a whisper and for a moment I actually think they haven't heard her.

"It means that I'm afraid your son has been poisoned."

Percy POV:

Why did they need to test my blood?

What are they testing for?

Why were they lying to me?

Having grown up with Fred and George I've got an acute sense of when I'm being lied to. Madame Pomfrey was lying to me when she said that they were testing for an illness. I saw the look on Professor Snapes face when she was talking. He's always got this mask on, like he's always calm, but there was something in his eyes.

What could they be testing for that they need my blood?

Shaking my head I force the thought out of my head. This is just the flu and I'm reading far too much into this.

But why would she need Professor Snape in the first place?

Why would she need him to test the blood?

If this were a simple illness then she'd be able to figure out this for herself. Snapes a potions master. If Professor Snape is testing my blood then surely this means that it isn't an illness but something else altogether.

What's wrong with me?

Before I can dwell on the matter any longer the door opens interrupting me thoughts.

"Mum, dad what are you guys doing here?" There are obvious tears in my mothers eyes and dad looks like he's ready to kill someone. They wouldn't be here unless…

The test.

Whatever they were testing for.

They found something.

"What's wrong with me?"

And that's where we'll stop for now. I hope this makes up for the delay in updates.

Okay so Arthur and Molly know about the poison, god help the person who tries to get in their way now.

What will the others say when they find out?

What does this mean for 'Moodys' plans?

I'm sure I'll get round to letting you know sooner or later.

Until next time,

Bye, Bye x
