Dear All,
So happy to be back with a new chapter of this story. I am currently fairly busy with other projects but will make sure that I'll go on with this one over the next months. Also, I'll make sure that I'll finish my other stories "come back in one piece okay?" And "is it you again?" pretty soon.
Autumn is a perfect time to read Sailor Moon fanfic and I hope you enjoy this new chapter!
"Well, I must say...I didn't expect such a detailed and extraordinary answer to my question but...geez, thanks anyway."
Kenji cleared his throat and looked impressed by Mamoru's unusual behavior.
"Wow, I mean your girlfriend truly is a lucky one, Endy. You deserve nothing but the best!"
Ikuko had just come back with Shingo and carried a huge plate, piled up with snacks and bottles of juice.
Usagi didn't move at all but continued starring into Mamoru's eyes in utter disbelief. She got out of her state of shock when her mother whispered to her by winking jokingly.
"You know it's weird Usagi...as if he had described you." Finally she turned to Mamoru and lifted up a snack from the plate. "So great to hear that you have found someone, Endy. I look forward to meeting her one day. Please feel free to bring her to our home as soon as possible. She is always welcome to us."
Mamoru swallowed hard and took the offered snack without paying further attention to it.
He knew that Usagi realized that he had meant her but she seemed to be more than confused before. She didn't mention a word to him though, mainly because of the simple fact that she didn't get the chance at all talking to him alone.
This situation didn't change for the rest of the day. Also, the next days didn't grant any single opportunity for Usagi to clarify what had been started by Mamoru and he just wished that she would forget what he had told her right in front of her family...since he wasn't allowed to do this in this time.
It had been the sixth night of their holidays and Ikuko and Kenji wanted to go out for a candle light dinner in order to celebrate their marriage anniversary but got stopped by Shingo who was suddenly feeling not well at all.
"I think you just caught the flu" Ikuko said when she measured his temperature and covered her son with a blanket. With slightly worried eyes she suggested to her husband "the table has been booked already and we will not get any refund."
She frowned but her gaze lightened up when an idea came up into her mind.
"Why don't you both go instead of us?"
She beamed at Mamoru and Usagi who instantly and simultaneously gaped at the blue haired woman.
"That's a good idea, Ikuko. It is such a lovely place and you both will have a great evening while Ikuko and me will take care of Shingo and...umm...celebrate here a bit."
He stepped over and took his wife's hand gently.
When Usagi's parents gave them a deep heart warming smile, Mamoru and his fiancée knew that there wouldn't be any chance not to agree to spend a romantic candle light dinner with each other.
"Here, just take my car and have fun, children!" He threw his keys over to Mamoru who caught them by reflex. Still startled, he risked a glimpse over to Usagi who was about to freak out any moment and desperately seemed to search for a reasonable excuse not to attend the dinner...but obviously couldn't find any when she ended her internal struggle and sighed deeply.
"Thanks Mom and Dad...I'm starving." The next second she locked eyes with Mamoru when she asked him "Shall we go...Endy?"
It was weird that Usagi pronounced his name with such an ironical tone in her voice but apart from Mamoru, no one had noticed it at all except him.
After both waved good bye to her parents and the already sleeping Shingo, Usagi took a deep breath once they got out of sight and eventually started the fire by blurting out
"How dare you, BAKA?!"
Now Mamoru was puzzled. They were still walking towards the car when he huffed back
"What do you mean, please?"
"Uhhh, you know exactly what I mean you JERK!" She hissed now and suddenly stopped when they both were standing in front of Kenji's red VW Golf II GTI.
There was still nothing but a big question mark in Mamoru's head when he glared at Usagi.
"Instead of insulting me, I'd be happy to hear the reason why you are behaving like a little snapped girl?!"
This sounded like good old familiar battle field they had suddenly entered but not like the way both spoke within their mature relationship when he put an engagement ring on her finger and got into the plane to spend more than a year in America.
"Really?! So then stop treating me like that with your crazy stalking shit! Why are you doing all this?"
It was still a beating around the bush and Mamoru was quite fed up with all this useless conversation when he almost yelled back at her
"What on Earth do you mean, anyway Usako?!!"
"Sorry?"
In this second, Mamoru realized his huge mistake. Actually it had been his third one if his compliment in his hotel room and the description of his dream girl counted as well to be called a mistake.
Usagi glared back at him with wide eyes. With a trembling voice she continued now
"This name...is that your real nickname for me, Mamoru?"
There it was again and suddenly, he understood what was going on in her mind. Usagi thought that he was his past self! His eyes darkened. There wasn't the appropriate place to explain everything to her.
"Let's go for a walk." He harshly said and offered his hand to her.
Usagi hesitated and took a long look at his stretched out hand. She seemed to have her inner struggle again but apparently her curiosity had won and she slowly reached out her little hand as well and let him guide the way to the beach.
The sun was about to set and the relaxing noise of the little waves, hitting the shore steadily, made a perfect romantic background composition for a wonderful date. Apart from the fact that this was supposed to be a clarifying talk between two persons who had emerged from complete different lifetimes.
"Right" Mamoru had reached the beach chairs and took a seat while he was suggesting her to settle herself as well "I guess I think you have an assumption of who I really am."
He sighed deeply and received the confirmation in Usagi's eyes instantly.
"This is soo creepy, Mamoru. Why do you pretend to be a guy named Endy and want to live with us? Are you something like schizophrenic and enjoy insulting me on the streets of Tokyo and then act at home like the most lovable guy of this planet? I honestly don't get that."
Mamoru didn't reply but decided to let her speak for the moment. Usagi was starring at the sunset when she continued her speech, carrying a certain mixture of slight disappointment and annoyance in her voice.
"You know, this is ridiculous. I really believed you in the first place when you explained me that you would just look like him...I mean you...gosh, this is sooo strange!"
She lifted her hands in the air in frustration, got them back to her face, rubbed her eyes and tried to focus on her thoughts again.
"But deep in my heart I knew this wasn't true at all and I cannot believe! that I told you that I was sad because you were dating Ray and a few days ago you described in front of my parents exactly ME to be the perfect match for you? How cruel is this, please?!"
Now Mamoru had to intervene but the blonde pigtailed girl had a good run when she added within her monologue, now being furious
"You are completely insane! This new function of my alarm clock...how did you do that? Every damn morning I wake up with this bloody "ODANGO ATAMA, ODANGO ATAMA, ODANGO ATAMA" sound...seriously, this is one of the worst things you could have done to me...I mean, okay since this more than ridiculous alarm I wake up on time and don't run late for school but still!"
She turned her gaze to Mamoru and now he could look her in the eyes, enlightened by the last sun beams of the day. Her beautiful face was burning and covered with tears, running down her cheeks fully uncontrolled.
"Why...why are you doing all this?"
'See, it was indeed the most stupid idea ever, traveling to the past with this non existing cover.' Mamoru's inner voice stated nonchalantly.
However, it didn't help him in this particular situation at all. The cards were put on the table, he had ruined everything already with his inappropriate behavior towards her and there was no way of turning back but better to tell her nothing but the truth.
He sighed deeply and took Usagi's hands. With a deep look into her expecting eyes, he confessed by hardly whispering it.
"I'm doing this because of my eternal and unconditional love I feel for you, Usagi Tsukino."
Silence. For an eternity. Just silence when his words sunk deep into her mind until it reached her heart completely.
"You love me." She finally stated toneless.
"Yes."
He just replied but felt the urge to follow his words when he cuped her face and pressed his lips softly onto hers.
Perhaps it was just a reflex but he definitely didn't see this coming when his cheek got hit by her hand the next second while she had managed to push him away from her at the same time.
"How dare you, Mamoru Chiba?!"
Usagi got up from her current position and starred at him, filled up with purest anger. Her hand was still trembling and she was ready to slap him again but froze when she heard him saying with a firm voice
"I know you are Sailor Moon."
Mamoru was still busy rubbing his painful cheek. He didn't expect Usagi to be that powerful but suddenly got reminded on the situation when it was her birthday which - allegedly - he had forgotten.
"You...you know this?" Now she was at least not crying anymore but her sad and disappointed expression had changed into complete horror and utter disbelief.
"But you aren't supposed to know. No one does...not even my family."
She starred into the void while she was desperate to find the reason why he could know about her secret identity.
"Usagi, please don't worry. It's okay that I know. I do belong to this secret."
He managed to explain and was rewarded with an astonished look from her.
"Sorry but this doesn't make any sense." She declared, now being convinced that she'd know the exact reasons. "You neither look to be the fourth Sailor Soldier, nor you are supposed to be the Moon Princess we are trying to find."
Suddenly her face was showing another horrifying expression.
"Oh my Godness, you are the enemy!!!!!"
Now Mamoru felt the huge need to clear up the whole situation as fast as possible. Usagi had already pulled out her transformation brooch and started shouting the five magical words.
"Moon Prism Pow-"
Mamoru held her from behind and covered her mouth as he spoke
"Geez, Usako, stop that! I'm far away from being an enemy at all!" Once he felt her relaxing a bit by his exclamation, he went on
"I am Mamoru, you are completely right, but there was a good reason why I've come up with all of this secret identity and living with you stuff."
He released his embrace in order to give Usagi the opportunity to turn around. Now she was standing in front of him, her gaze lifted up to meet his eyes which didn't show anything but purest honesty.
"Usako...I come from the future...not far away from this time, just one and a half years ahead I suppose."
Usagi said nothing at all but kept starring into his eyes.
"I came here with a mission together with Diana, the grey cat with a crescent moon mark on her forehead. We need to find something which is hidden in your time and have to bring it back immediately in order to save our world."
There was silence again after he finished his explanation. Mamoru was not sure if Usagi was going to believe him but he could see something dancing in her eyes, until he noticed a loud dark noise, coming from her stomach.
Usagi flushed deeply but couldn't hide a small grin when he suggested.
"I think we should discuss this further at the romantic candle light dinner in the restaurant, your parents dragged us in."
She nodded slightly and replied
"I'd love to, Mamoru-San."
