Somewhere in Starland, Adora, Clover, and Leona had been sent to check on something in a forest far from the school.
"What could have done this?" asked Clover while looking at the forest which had begun to die which was what brought them out there.
"No clue," said Adora.
"But this could be part of it," she said at the same time she walked around a small hill and stopped in her tracks.
"Whoa," said Leona. Standing before the girls was a large black crystal that was partially embedded in the ground.
"We need to call Lady Stella, now," said Adora. Later, all the Star Darlings and Lady Stella had arrived at the location.
"I can't believe one of these has appeared," said a stunned Lady Stella.
"So, you do know what this thing is then?" asked Clover.
"A Star Crystal, they were once used to create artificial Star Darlings," said Lady Stella.
"Artificial Star Darlings?!" asked all the girls.
"It was during a time where Star Darlings were rare and we couldn't make enough wishes come true so a project was created where natural resources were turned into an artificial one," said Lady Stella.
"But the program was stopped with all the research being destroyed because it was too dangerous," she said.
"Well someone found copies of the research and used it," said Tessa.
"Hang on, do you hear that?" asked Sage as a cracking sound came from nearby.
"The crystal," said Lady Stella while noticing cracks forming in the Star Crystals surface.
"Is this supposed to happen?" asked Piper.
"Only when the artificial Star Darling is about to be born," said Lady Stella. The crystal then shattered, releasing a black light into the sky.
