Waking Under The Broken Moon

Sorry for not uploading sooner. I got caught up in elden ring for a week and didn't write or brainstorm until a few days ago. I edited some wording to make more sense as well as some missing words that I wrote in my head but forgot to type out. I do not own either RWBY or Bloodborne, they belong to they're own respective studios.

Bold is for emphasis on actions or words

Italics are for thoughts

She would have been corrupted by this thing if it weren't for the greater insight she possessed through consuming the three third umbilical cords, she had got them from the deformed children of the formless one and one from Kos herself. One from the child of Alianna who couldn't bear to see her child and died of blood loss after giving birth. Another from the imposter iosefka who she killed for turning the skeptical man into another experiment while she was in the middle of giving birth. Then the third one, she found in the workshop the dream was based off of, she suspected that it was from Kos herself.

It's long, bony, inhuman hands held her as she was pressed against the face of the great one, it's skull more like three malformed sockets. It had very, very long and thick tentacles instead of hair.. it's chest was open and the spikey rib cage extended down to it's impossibly thin waist. The most normal thing about it was it's legs although it was disturbing when in comparison to everything else. It even had several tentacles acting as tails.. it was a near indescribable creature and the oddest thing was that it was covered in dried blood.

Alaine screamed out, using the arcane energy that flowed through her veins, that pushed her to be more than human against the great one's will, surprisingly she won and pushed the thing back. It let out a noise similar to a whale's call while shaking its head in an almost motherly disappointment, it was disgusting.

For the first time in a while she felt genuine anger fill her body, her mind and body were nearly bound to the dream against her will. The Moon Presence meant to have her replace Gehrman, she could feel it's intent within her mind! As if she could just replace such a man like The First Hunter, it sickened her.

Alain didn't give the thing time, and she quickly found out that it was absolute rubbish in a physical fight. Even when the thing used it's arcane ability to draw her within an inch of her life, she could feel her blood in the monster before her. She struck wildly with her hammer, she could feel the blood returning to her with each strike, she broke it's long right arm and slammed it's face. She didn't bother to ignite her hammer, she just kept swinging until she felt her blood return to its owner.

The Good Hunter was panting, and she called upon the little ones of the dream to help her. Behind her eight baby-like figures that were nothing but skin and bone lifted something off the ground with difficulty, she turned and grinned at the item that they had grabbed her. It was the portable gatling gun that she had received after freeing Djura's youngest disciple from the Hunter's nightmare. She stabbed her leg to give her the blood bullets she needed, heaved it up one handed much like the cannon and began firing into the wounded moon presence to finish it off.

The barrels began to rotate before firing each bullet ripped through it's flesh, it gave off a whale-like wail as Alaine fired into it until she heard clicking, using every last bullet she had to make it so the thing before her wouldn't move for what she is about to next. It wailed the whole time as she ignited the boom hammer and then readied it behind her. Alaine yelled out in anger as she swung the hammer over head and smashed the things face before here, crushing the face of the monster, the secondary explosion of the hammer happened and it's now further deformed face was blown to bits. Finally the thing was dead, or at least the physical form, but this was a dream so maybe she had really ended it. She wouldn't know for sure.

With that Alaine sat on the ground, it started to rain in the dream. Strangely, there wasn't any weather in the dream ever before so it was even stranger that there was. The rain swept away all the drawn blood, put out the flames of the workshop, and cleaned the blood off of her and yet it left her dry after the shower had ended. The flowers were once again a beautiful pale white.

Alaine sat up and looked around to find the doll waiting patiently. "Ah, Good Hunter, so you've decided to end it all. Yet here you are, how?" Alaine somehow knew what she meant by that, she should have shed her human body and ascended into a new form.

"Even if the night has ended, the hunt still continues." Alaine said, trying to come up with a reason for her continued human form.

"Alaine of the dream, Goddess of the hunt. There is more for you to do, another world, plagued by beasts unlike ours. But when you leave the dream will cease to be, will you remember me?" The doll had sadness in her voice despite her emotionless face. The doll explained things to the newly reborn goddess, even if she didn't know it, she had become more than human long ago during the night of the hunt.

Alaine nodded before speaking again. "But I won't need to remember you." Alaine reached into her bag and brought out the final umbilical cord she had, the one she got from poor Mergo. "Not if you bind the dream to yourself… and then you connect with me. You won't be left behind, and maybe I'll find more hunters for you to guide and strengthen, as you did me."

The doll could not smile because her body was made of porcelain but the joy in her voice was obvious. A tear made of pale glass formed from the doll's right eye and fell onto her hands that came to hide the fact, just like the one in Alaine's pocket. "Oh, thank you Alaine. I will do as you wish. Now rest Good Hunter.. when you awake, your endless hunt will begin once again." The doll came close, taking the umbilical cord of an infant great one. She then ran her left hand over Alaine's eyes, closing them to put her to sleep.

With Alaine asleep the doll ate the cord, feeling it's power flow through her body. She then kneeled and rested her head on Alaine's stomach, Alaine disappeared into blue mist.

It was all black, dreamless sleep. The last time she slept was the night before the burning of Old Yharnam. The dream let her hunt without the need for food, sleep, or drink, the only thing she needed was blood to keep her going, and in Yharnam more blood was made than booze so there was never a short supply.

She awoke.. and she was sitting under a thick massive tree. It was in the dark pitch of night but there was the moonlight of course, but when she turned to the cosmos above her all she could do was giggle to herself. The moon itself was shattered, it was a beautiful sight to behold, it was as if her actions had a direct consequence in the new world she visited. She doubted that was the case but still, it was far too easy to think about it that way after she fought and slayed the nightmarish moon presence.

She enjoyed the sight only a minute more before she realized she was weaponless, only wearing her usual mixture of her old hunters garb which consisted of a long coat which was black on the outside and red on the inside, a long tattered cape flowed down to her calves. She wore more modern protection fitting the workshop such as the staple hunter gloves fitted with a brass bracer, lastly the hunters trousers that had some decorated leather long boots that came up to her knees. finally the warped top hat and white neck gaiter wrapped in small decorative hexagonal chains made of brass that she had received from her father upon becoming a powder keg hunter just like him.

She turned to look around her surroundings.. she found her boom hammer stood up against the tree on her right. The portable gatling gun was laid on its side on a rather flat, wide rock a bit to her left as.

She looked forward before her and saw several of the messengers pushing against her leg as if trying to wake her. The poor things looked worried and despite their disturbing appearance she had grown fond of them, so much so that she agreed with the doll that the baby-like malformed skeletal children. "OoooOoohhh" The messengers looked up at her finally, they let out a ghastly noise, clapping and fawning over her as they realized she had awoken. Alaine reached out with both hands, petting each of the four messengers.

"Thank you little ones." She reached for her hammer first before using it to get up from her criss cross position. She walked over to the heavily engraved and decorated gatling gun and hooked her fist around it's handle when she felt the hairs on her neck raise and her skin crawl. She turned around and she saw glowing red eyes in the thicker, darker parts of the forest. What she saw surprised her, a whole pack of new strange beasts!

The beasts in Yharnam were savage things, making territory and only occasionally pairing up but nothing like this. They surrounded her and… studied her, it wasn't like anything like she had encountered either. It was black as night with white bonelike protrusions, forming claws, a spiked spine, and lastly and most notably it's skull-like face, glowing with red cracks around it's black eyes with piercing red pupils. This must have what irreverent Izzy must have felt, fascination leaking into a crooked, mad smile as she studied to creatures who studied her in turn.

The Good Hunter looked around slowly, spotting a beast larger than the rest that the others kept they're distance from. When the Alpha and the Hunter made eye contact the Alpha let out a beastial cry that showed it's deep red glowing throat. The Hunter would have normally taken care of it like any other beast she had encountered that roared like such by braining the thing with an ignited boom hammer but this beast wasn't any other beast, it was interesting and with that the grim grin came from fighting a new challenging opponent to test one's self against grew even wider across her face.

The pack began closing in but before they could try and rip her all apart at once Alaine raised the gun up and began shooting wildly at the beasts that had tried so foolhardy to rush her down and make her a quick kill. The bullets didn't just push them back or stagger them back like beasts and kin back in Yharnam… it tore through their bodies like butter! Black blood splattered the ground before disappearing like the bodies… " How very strange… the smell is different and doesn't excite me with the sickening call that blood normally would." Yet this excited her that she could hunt and indulge the side of her that loved to fight! Using that darker side of her to do good by killing beasts was the very reason she became a hunter.

Another beast came on her right flank only to be slammed in the shoulder to the grass and explode into blue flames, singeing the grass black as the blue flame flared out from under the hammer. With six beasts including the Alpha wolf left, it studied her just the same as it did before.

She pulled her gaiter neck down off her nose, revealing her indulgent smile, and joy at hunting something so very new and inhuman as she began to clean up the beasts before her in quick succession either with her gun or hammer, killing a beast with her hammer by slamming it's face with the backside of the hammer and tearing the head of the beast into pieces, flinging a jaw and shattered skull mask against a tree while she gunned two others down with a laugh.

She wasn't playing with her prey but she was obviously enjoying it. The last two beasts looked at her and the Alpha roared once more, charging with the other beast at the same time, only for a blue explosion from overhead when Alaine ignited and slammed the hammer down between them. Both beasts were flown to the left and right and the alpha hit a tree. The other beast had its side blown off and was disappearing into black smoke.

The Alpha was limping but that was no matter. The Good Hunter ignited her hammer one last time before slamming it on the beast's bone spike. The spike went through the beast, it's black blood spraying on the grass before disappearing along with the Alpha's disfigured corpse. She looked to her left and saw more beasts in the distance, they haven't noticed her yet but they will eventually.

She looked to the floor and dropped the gatling gun on the grass.. the little messengers rose from the corporal realm and out of the ground, picking up the gatling gun and looking questioningly up at Alaine. "Put that in storage little ones… and grab me my cannon." The one looking up at her nodded before the messengers slinked away into the ground. Five seconds later they came back up with her cannon. She grabbed it from the messengers and gave them a warm, almost motherly smile as she lifted it up and walked towards the next set of beasts with patient, cold, murderous intent.

Thank you for reading the fanfic, leave any criticism in the comments. I read and try to apply every single good point into my writing in hopes to not only improve as a writer but as a storyteller. Thank you everyone for the comments and critiques. I also have to apologize for the amount of fighting in the early chapters, I promise the story will be more than just fight scenes but this is sort of the prologue and introduction to those who know little about bloodborne or haven't played it and I thought the best way to portray bloodborne was through the way a hunter fights and the emotions tied to their way of hunting in contrast to RWBY's.
