Talking to a Outsider
Hello, sorry for taking so long again. I tried to take this slower so I hope the quality is better than the last chapter in terms of characterization. I hope you enjoy reading this story and where I will take it in the future. I do not own Bloodborne or RWBY, they belong to their respective studios.

Ozpin was waiting for team RWBY walked into his office. It was a relief that the only issue with them was that they all looked tired, likely because of how late it was. "Well? What did you find?"
The team of girls looked at each other and then specifically at Ruby who then looked at the rest of her team. "Oh right." Ruby said to which Weiss couldn't help but roll her eyes at.
Ruby still wasn't used to the fact that she was a leader now. "U-uhm, well we found a woman in the forest. She was really weird… like… she was killing grimm but she didn't have her aura unlocked. We also spoke to her accidentally when we found her resting." Ruby spoke as if she was a tad bit nervous, the poor girl wasn't very outspoken like her sister is.
"You, talked to her?" Ozpin asked with an eyebrow raised, that wasn't what he had asked them to do. He had asked them to simply observe.
"Y-yes that's the thing, when we found her we thought she was dead… there was so much blood. She was fine somehow… Yang could tell you about what happened next since she ran ahead of us" Ruby felt like she was telling on her sister for some reason but what she said was true. They had to chase after her sister because she had tried to make the strange woman confess to either being hurt or knowing where who was hurt.
Yang didn't flash any glare or anything so Ruby's worries seem to be unfounded. "Yeah, it was strange. I was wondering if it was her blood or if she had well…" there was a pause before she continued. "And it didn't make sense at the time with her being fine, still doesn't make sense but she didn't like being called a liar. I don't know if we can even believe her at all but she never tried to attack us." Yang had her arms crossed like she was confused about it just looking back on the event.
Once Yang seemed was all done Blake decided to speak "Not a single thing seemed right about her." She spoke calmly, Ozpin turned to her and from her wording he had a slight furrow of his brow.
"I've heard that twice now. Could you explain that further Miss. Belladonna?" Strangely enough Ozpin was becoming interested but also concerned with this conversation simply because of how put off they were.
"She wore… really outdated clothing. A black trench coat with red inside of it, a large curved top hat, everything she wore was very stylized, lots of decorative designs along her… brass? gauntlets and leather boots. She also had a cloak that was… shredded. The outfit was something I had never seen before. And even weirder is that, that wasn't even the strangest thing about her, she had an old way of speaking and an accent I had never heard before. She called herself a hunter as well, not a huntress. The strangest thing above all else was her style of fighting and the weapons she used." Blake wasn't looking at Ozpin, she was staring at nothing as she recounted the minute details that she remembered being off putting about the encounter.
"I thought you said she didn't attack you?" Ozpin had said, interjecting to have his question heard and answered by the team's collective nods.
"She didn't attack us but she certainly attacked grimm. She said she was hunting grimm, not just strays either. We saw her go after a small pack of Beowulfs, and two Boarbatusks at once." Weiss didn't have much to say about it other than that it was sort of impressive how she went after them head on, as inelegant as it was.
Yang shook her head. "You guys didn't see the Ursa she blew away before you guys caught up. She was quick, efficient, and brutal." Yang stepped in place, shifting from one leg to the other, she had a thought in the back of her mind that if she and that strange woman had fought that she wouldn't come out on top.
"And you said even her weapons were strange?" Ozpin was trying to keep them talking, going back and forth to get as much information as he could get out of the girls.
Ruby nodded and then brought out Crescent Rose to help explain her words. "Instead of the usual… hybrid model most weapons follow, combining range and melee in one weapon the woman used.. two different weapons. She must be very strong too to move the way she did, yet her build was pretty normal."
Ruby at this point had gone into her nerdy weapon geek mode "She was using a cannon of all things! Not a small one either. She had a silver flintlock that looked beautifully made. Lastly she had a hammer that could ignite into a blue flame and it burned things that it hit and exploded when it hit things head on. She had a cannon in one hand and an exploding hammer in the other and she held them as if they didn't weigh her down much." Ruby was about to go further when Ozpin put his hand up to gesture that it was enough information about the weapon and style she had used.
"Anything else?" Ozpin had a lot to think over already. It was late for the girls so any excess information like how her weaponry worked would just take more time.
Blake just raised her hand up to her shoulder to say one last thing. "Yes, not only did she not look weighed down by her arsenal, she was very quick. So quick that she never once needed to block when Yang was chasing her down and trying to get her to tell us the truth. She never said anything except that the blood was hers, she even got slashed by a Beowulf to prove it. She injected something into her leg before running back into the forest when we decided that it was time to call the bulkhead." Ozpin nodded and then took a sip from his coffee.
"We'll have a late start of the day tomorrow and let everyone sleep in for a good three hours more. One last thing, don't tell anyone about what you saw. This person could be dangerous. We don't want to cause any unnecessary concern…" When he went silent he nudged his head forward to signal that team Ruby could leave.
Miss. Goodwitch was by his side but the whole time she hadn't said a thing and just let the children speak with Ozpin while she was watching a security feed. Once team RWBY had left she had to ask something. "Why did we send team RWBY and not any of the second years or actual huntsmen and huntresses?"
Ozpin was silent for a moment, picking the right words in his head to satisfy her curiosity as well as the stern look she had focused on that scroll. "Well, because they are the fastest team of students that we have, the slowest being Blake who was still fast on her own along with her semblance. I knew they could handle themselves despite they're inexperience in the field… I even bet on that inexperience and the girls even spoke with our uninvited guest…"
Ozpin put his hands together thinking for a moment before he continued. "I doubt that we'll find her in the data files… because one of us would have remembered such a peculiar person. I doubt she is from atlas, vale, definitely not vacuo, not from the bandit tribes of anima because she didn't try to kill or subjugate her for being weaker. although from what we've seen and been informed of her appearance reminds me of old mistral attire, very formal in nature yet decorated.
"But we have found her on the cameras… I've been watching her move through the forest. The children are right. She is… strange. She dresses even older than me." Ozpin almost smirked at that little joke, Glynda handed him the scroll and pulled up every feed for him to look at.
"She's found the ruins and has made camp there, little campfire and a rabbit is being skinned and gutted." Ozpin noted, seeing the strange woman focused on the meat, her back was to the ruin walls and had her body turned to look at the open half of the circular ruins.
Ozpin wasn't quite sure what to make of it. The stranger stuck the meat meant to be cooked onto a knife and left it over the fire. She had left the entrails of the small animal in the grass just outside. She looked at her hands, studying her hands for an odd amount of time before she took one glove off and reached into a bag at her side then pulled a cloth out wiping the blood off her gloved hand, doing the same to her other glove and any splotches on the brass gauntlets before tossing it into the fire she had made.
"Yes… it's also the first time she's stayed in one place while awake. She took a few points to rest but other than that she had always been on the move looking for grimm. She avoided fighting Yang, running from her rather than fighting her even with the girl being so brazen she didn't even defend herself, she avoided it and ran for more grimm to prove herself. So odd." Goodwitch had a confused tone in her voice, like she just couldn't understand what someone would be doing in Emerald Forest yet that was the least odd thing about the mystery woman.
"Well, we could observe her, attempt to arrest her and put needless lives at risk… or we could try a more diplomatic approach. She actively avoided fighting when approached but she is efficient… strong… and brutal against grimm. Hmm. She has a line between monster and human, she runs from the latter and shows no quarter to the former. If she's that calm after being awoken by a stranger. It couldn't hurt to speak to her while she is comfortable." To what Ozpin had said Glynda frown grew further but when Ozpin had gotten up that was where she put her foot down and shook her head.
"Aren't you going to at least wait until tomorrow morning?" Glynda asked, hoping to at least talk him into getting some sleep. Ozpin just looked at her for a moment, contemplating her offer before he took a sip of his coffee and sighed.
"No, from what we've observed from the cameras she doesn't stay put for long. We should use this opportunity to find out why she's here and who she is. Who better than one of the best huntsmen in the country. I won't be alone either, I'll have you to watch my back won't I?" Ozpin got out of his seat, still holding onto the scroll to pull up and call someone to get a bullhead ready to be deployed quickly but discreetly to the base of Beacon's cliff that neighbored the woods.
Alaine had been cooking her dinner when she felt a draft come through and blow against the fire. It was a strange wind but one she had felt several times since coming to this world. It had always followed a distant whirring sound but she could never find the source of it so she simply accepted it as natural for this world, as is its broken moon.
She had this feeling she was being watched, and unlike the grim she couldn't sense where from. It was like an eye constantly watching, like mensis but not trying to tear her mind apart. It was an odd feeling but nothing ever came of it although that was something she couldn't accept as natural, not at least for a while.
She had been satisfied with what she had killed so far, although she wondered about their strange nature… the ability to learn as well as the fact that they disappeared when they died made her curious if they were even truly dead, it wouldn't be the first time she had ever encountered them, bloody bell maidens.
She had just eaten the last bit of rabbit and was about to get her first night of rest in this new world when she heard that strange choppy whirring noise. It was annoying and put her nerves on edge when she heard such an odd sound. She shut it out mentally and tried to go to sleep, only to find that her nerves wouldn't calm down, why? Blasted adrenaline. She opened her eyes, annoyed at her gut feeling but knew better than to ignore it.
She waited, and waited… she thought maybe one of those beasts had been creeping around her camp like a rat looking for food. Then, she heard some peculiar noises coming from infront of her. There was some bushes that began to shuffle, out of quicksilver bullets for now the woman grabbed her hammer instinctively that had been kept on her right.
The moment persisted until well, someone… no two people emerged both were wearing a pair of spectacles and were very well dressed one was in a unzipped black suit and a buttoned vest while his partner wore something much more… scandalous leggings that showed off much of her defined legs down to leather boots. She was wearing a piece of attire she had never seen before, the top came was pretty simple, a keyhole neckline with those posh cuffs that a vileblood would wear. She had a hunter's cloak that flared out like dancing flames and a suspicious look on her face.
She was a hunter, and a veteran one, Alaine could tell by the way the woman's eyes scanned her body as well as her face. the confusion on her face almost made her smile. Back to the man, he had a completely different look… one that reminded her of Gehrman with how blank yet gentle and kind it was. It was the kindness of taking a responsibility so others did not have to suffer. It was a look she wore herself when she told her husband Emmet that she needed to continue her work, even if it meant a bit of ridicule by the locals for being the one working instead of him.
Those joyous times…
Alaine shook her head free from that depressing thought because her life may be in danger. "Hello there. I'm not one to turn guests away but considering your looks and what I can presume are weapons… are you by chance here to kill me? Or is it just a precaution since I'm an outsider."
Thank you for reading to the end of the chapter. I took it slower and tried my best at characterizing RWBY's characters and how they would act. I hope this was an enjoyable read and if I get more comfortable writing this way I hope to be faster about writing, proof reading, and uploading them for you all to see. I read every single review so don't be afraid to give me some constructive criticism to improve this story and as a writer. Till next time.
