Another time of training and practicing her powers were complete for the whole day, and Lori was feeling good as always. Of course, everyone feels better after working out since they... "felt the burn".
For Lori, she felt the burning in herself literally and figuratively at the same time. The teen girl was feeling more confident in her new superhero abilities after each round of her training. Perhaps with her new powers of pyrokenesis, she can burn calories even faster than before, and not worry about gaining weight ever again. Yes, perhaps she will stay beautiful like this for the rest of her life.
Polluter was pouting and playing some Jacks with himself in his round cylindrical prison to pass the time on himself. The mute button was still active so that the toxic mutant wouldn't be able to agitate or distract Lori and Lincoln from their training with his petty insults and taunting. Of course it didn't stop Polluter from ranting anyway because he needed to get it out of his system.
It wasn't really a good idea to hold in all of that anger in oneself, otherwise they will just explode without warning and cause a scene around everyone else. But it was a good thing there was a mute button and he was in that pod, which meant nobody can hear him since the mute mode was on.
"You all can't keep me in here forever! Do you all hear me?!" Polluter began ranting some more. "This plexiglass can't hold me forever! Not even plexiglass is unstoppable!" He banged on the glass around him with his two big fists, but still no avail for him. Alas, mumbling in defeat, he pouted and sat in a criss-cross applesauce position in his confinement pod, looking at the ground as he was mumbling. He really, really hope that he can just get out of this glass prison that surrounds him from causing any more chaos and mayhem on the Earth, but Polluter knew that Lori and Lisa won't let him out willingly.
It was a good thing that Polluter was behind bars, or... behind glass in his case. The teenage superhero had some leftover pasta from last night for lunch and watched a little TV.
The news, with the famous and charming Katherine Mulligan herself, shown the chaos that happened in Dairyland a little while back, and how Lori and Lincoln saved the day once again from the dastardly Snow Flaker. "The city is blessed to have two superheroes like Volcano Girl and Laser Boy to fight crime and villainy." Katherine began. "How did Snow Flaker get out of jail? Will he be put back in there under a tighter lock and key? Only these two great heroes can stop Snow Flaker from giving people the cold shoulder." She paused as she realized something. "... Ha! Cold shoulder! Get it? Just a little snow humor!" Katherine then wiped a tear from her eye
Lori didn't look very amused and she nodded her head sideways. "Honey, you're worse than Luan." She said to the tv screen. "Never thought I'd say this, but: I could go for one of Luan's own jokes right now."
It was just then Luan popped from behind the sofa. "You mean it?" She even startled the unsuspecting Lori.
"Snow Flaker is still at large, but we all know Volcano Girl and Laser Boy will put him behind bars once again. All we need is faith in them. If Mayor Davis has faith in the heroes, then we will too. Katherine Mulligan with the News, signing off!"
"OK, Luan, give me a joke or a pun or whatever."
"Sure thing, sis. Although I might have a hard time being on fire with these jokes! Hahahaha! Get it?"
"Ha ha." Said Lori sarcastically."
"Your sarcasm is a hot take on the subject!" Luan joked some more."
"OK. I think I've heard enough." She got off the couch to do more superhero work. Luan was too busy trying to come up with more puns and one-liners, that she didn't even notice Lori leaving the house to continue her daily patrol.
"This subject is a hot take!" Luan continued joking some more. "I got a blazing sense of humor in this crazy family." She wiped another tear from her eye.
Lincoln didn't come with her this time since he wanted to relax and take it easy. After all, he didn't really have super powers like Lori does, but he still completed training. Of course, Lori can always call Lincoln if something really bad comes up for her during her duties.
Good thing Lincoln wasn't really a lazy kind of boy. While patrolling, everything was quiet, but then, she felt deep down that something was not right. Like... there was someone watching or stalking her. But she was unclear of this feeling in her gut.
Suddenly, three vans rushed forward and created a roadblock one street so that Lori wouldn't be able to go through. Coming out of the vans were the very same security forces from Dairyland that helped Snow Flaker escape from being sent to prison again.
"Alright, take down Volcano Girl!" Said the leader in a red beret hat. "Shoot to kill!" They all readied their weapons at Lori, and it looked like it was the end for her, but she used her quick thinking to fire at one of the vans in the fuel compartment, making it explode on impact. Luckily, the civilians already fled before the captain ordered the firing on her, so no one got hurt. Before long, the other two vans exploded from the impact of the first one, sending many of the mercenaries flying over many roofs.
Alas, it didn't take out all of the henchmen. There were about twenty or thirty of them this time, and Lori said: "Crud! Crud! Crud! Crud! Crud!" To herself over and over again. Things are really starting to get hot now.
